The end of a career: the deputy mayor (John Cusack) forces the mayor (Al Pacino) to resign.
The movie was written by Kenneth Lipper, a childhood friend of Al Pacino and a deputy mayor of New York under Ed Koch.

Realized for a minute I have to make him connected to mage work LOL. Harold Becker came to Chaldea off of contractor work supervising when somebody "sensed something" from him and so they did some magus tests on him and it turns out he has like, exceptional quality magic circuits and circuit count. He has no fucking clue how that is, he really doesn't know anything about magecraft whatsoever except for a few spells his grandmom taught him to turn the traffic light green and to get your shoes to fit right but he says "Grandmama was always into some weird hocus pocus stuff. One time I looked into this crystal ball she brought out when I was 8 and saw a skull laughing in it. Spooked me so bad, I ran out of the house crying and she had to bake a pie to get me to come back in." Turns out the whole time his grandmom was one of those powerful magi that ran away and became a heretic and managed not to get Sealing Designated lol. We're not talking like Touko level though we're talking like. Idk. Below that
