we're staying around the standard tokyo-kyoto-osaka line with the jr pass, with lots of day trips. might ask you about places to eat 👀

The Hiroshima Peace Park is a sobering reminder of the cruelties of war and a reminder of the atrocities that occurred there from August 6th 1945.

The park is so well maintained, we arrived early to hear the peace clock tower which rings each day at 8.15am and there were workers diligently sweeping away fallen leaves before the crowds thickened. It was both a beautiful and surreal experience to walk through such a gorgeous and bustling park, just to think that less than 100 years ago, the darkest hells of humanity descended upon it. We didn't take any pictures inside the museum, but we were both glad we visited it as well as the memorial hall.

Trip to Hiroshima, May 2023 - Day 2: Okonomiyaki

Let's go home. I was already full, so just ate okonomiyaki the last.

おなかいっぱい、お好み焼きだけ食べて帰りましょう。

広島Day2！お仕事も終わり、予約した新幹線までかなり時間がある状態。お昼ご飯にお弁当をいただいたのですが、そういえば、今回の旅、一回もお好み焼き食べてないぞ...！？ということで、駅ビルでお好み焼き食べて帰ることしました。

前回の広島旅では「みっちゃん」で食べたのですが、今回はサクッとお好み焼きだけなので、お隣の「いっちゃん」へ。

（予約した新幹線は17:00だったのですが、広島駅についたのは13:00。ここから4時間は待てない、ということで、颯爽とチケット変更。）

一番シンプルなお好み焼きを。そばと上の生地がしっかりくっついていて、ちょっと食べにくいタイプ苦笑

お昼過ぎでしたが、店内は常に満席でした。

予約した新幹線は17:00だったのですが、広島駅についたのは13:00。ここから4時間は待てない、ということで、颯爽とチケット変更。帰ります。

お土産にやまだ屋のもみじまんじゅうと、「美味しい」と噂の「桐葉菓」を自分用に。もみじまんじゅうより桐葉菓のほうが、生地がモチモチしていて美味しいな〜！次回以降はこっちを買おう。

本当はむすびのむさしの「若鶏むすび」を買って帰ろうと思ったのですが、お弁当も食べお好み焼きも食べでおなかパンパンだったので諦めました。また次回のお楽しみに。

出張とはいえ、蒸溜所見学予約したり、それに合わせて頑張って始発に乗ったりだったので、1泊2日と思えない満喫旅でした。広島いいところ〜！また行きたいです。
