Why Fast X Works
After watching this movie twice, I can safely say it's one of my fav FF movies (nothing can beat F6 and the flip car)
Here is a list of reasons why Fast X works so well in the scope of the FFF (Fast and Furious Franchise)
Everything here is a spoiler btw
The Torettos' mom has yet to be mentioned or shown in the movies, and Fast X keeps this tradition up
Tej saying "Han, you've been dead man!" To get him back into dating is amazing. To those who haven't seen the other movies, he actually was dead
All three adults shielding Little B from Han's dating profile
All the pictures from the other movies showing how much Dom loves his family (even though there's 0% chance of a camera being available for ANY of those moments)
Roman taking on the lead role of this mission completely makes "Fast and Furious: Crossroads" canon
Cipher alone makes me want to become a lesbian
Letty alone makes me want to become a lesbian
Dante being introduced into the FFF was excuted so perfectly
Dante is the evil Queer Eye and you can't convince me otherwise
DANTE'S WHOLEASS CHARACTER
Jakob is 100% the gay uncle we all wish we had
Ramsey spouting out facts about cars is the result of her asking her gearhead gf to info dump (yes I mean Hattie)
Every action scene was basically an homage to the other movies (I can and will make another post about this)
Dante legit saying "we need to tone down the masculinity" is NOT what I was expecting from FF in 2023
Dante calling Dom "a brute" while being half a head taller and buffer
Deckard having a flip car and nobody questioning why he has it???
Gisele coming back, along with an unexpected guest: the submarine from F8!
Cipher and Letty having their own "Hobbs & Shaw" moment
Tej and Roman legit say "I love you" to each other (like no joke, this is so wholesome and a great message to all the dude bros out there)
The obvious way the crew didn't die at the end, and letting us know the next movie is coming soon
Queenie is absolutely gaslighting Dom into thinking he's one of her kids
Brian is so committed to being a house husband, you don't even get to see him or his kids again
Tess and Aims making complete fun of the franchise as newcomers is one of the best scenes in cinema
"So, what? We're all a beer and a barbecue away from joining them?"
"They're a cult with cars"
Dante taking all of the crew's money as if it wasn't his dad's money in the first place (minus Ramsey)
LUKE MOTHERFUCKING HOBBS IS BACK BABY
To sum this movie up, it's almost as if a person could have found a story like this on AO3
Basically, this whole franchise is a fanfic of itself and I'm fucking LIVING for it

What the hell even is this film//The more we learn about this movie the more I'm convinced that this cash-grab will crash. It just seems nonsensical. I feel like The Rock's charisma is losing it's ability to carry mediocre action-comedies, and you just know that's what the marketing will focus on because that's what all his movies do. In regards to the streaming market - I'm hearing more and more people not bother with services they don't already have, and this is not a movie that will make people subscribe to Prime Video either. Short-sighted money focus may have a really negative effect on Chris
I just really can't figure out what Red One is supposed to be, or moreover how it's meant to be a franchise. That one description Dwayne gave of it being like a Jumanji/Hobbs & Shaw mash-up action-adventure holiday movie for the whole family is like some kind of industry keyword word salad that completely turns me off.
But I go back to what I said the other day about oversaturation and choice paralysis. I think a lot of people are in that boat.

Ep 3 Summer Series: Death By Treadmill to The Flash Across The Spider-Verse
Your favorite neighborhood Stream Team returns this week with so much to geek out about! But firstly Grant (A.K.A. The Kilted One) attempts to bring us the Good G'news with Gary G'new and we just aren't having it!
Speaking of the News!
The Rock announces he's back baby! Back in the Fast and Furious Cinematic Universe! He's announced that he and Vin Deisel have buried the hatchet and he will be returning as Hobb's but it sounds like he will be Hobbless without his Shaw.
Tom Cruise waves his HUGE Maverick-like clout at the people of IMAX and demands that Christopher Nolan moves his big 600 pound gorilla of a movie... and while he's at it, he can take Barbie's Pink flick with her as well.
In Geeking Out:
Our Neighbor Cole doesn't wanna close his eyes cuz and he don't wanna miss a thing, when he returns to Micheal Bay's Armaggedon. For his own mental health, he refuses to hold back the floodgate of tears!
House of Hammer wasn't watched by all so we decide to hold back for another week or so, so everyone can take in this depravity of a documentary that we question "How much of this is a hit piece?" Though we all agree that Armie Hammer is a real piece of Sh**! Not before Angry Ginger asks if anyone at the table would be willing to wear TEAM HAMMER t-shirts.
Grant gives a fantastic spoiler free review for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse and begs us to go see it with him as soon as possible, before all the easter eggs and secrets get out on the internet. Do we agree to be seen in public with him?
Not Producer Kyle has Crime docuseries brain with Bama Rush. Is it any good? Should we watch it? Did she reveal too much about her own collage years? Did Neighbor Cole have a sexual awakening during this?
In Trailer Talk:
We geek out about Chris Hemsworth's flaming fistacuffs and the extreamly long takes of action we can't wait to witness once again with Extraction 2. Neighbor Cole calls his bluff on his choice of bullet proof protection, but he's still willing to put eyes on this flick when it hits Netflix.
Shockingly, Neighbor Cole is blown away by The Flash trailer. He's not much of a superhero movie guy but he wants to see this one. Ginger and TK1 didn't need any convincing. They were sold on this film June 23rd, 1989 when Keaton's Batman first released. Not Producer Kyle is excited for some popcorn.
Like always, this is just a touch of the things we touch apon. Speaking of touching, Al Pacino is having a kid at 83 and we have some thoughts on that as well. Justified is returning with a new limited series this month and Black Mirror is returning after a 4 year hiatus too!

Hobbs & Shaw (2019)
Tumblr media
Slowly but surely, the Fast and Furious franchise is raising the water temperature. Before you know it, they’ll be crossing over with the Jurassic Park series and we won’t even blink an eye. Hobbs & Shaw takes us even further from the days of simple car chases and believable heists. This is a full-blown, special-effects heavy sci-fi action movie. Intelligence is not its strong suit but the film regains some points thanks to its two charismatic leads and their chemistry.
MI6 agent Hattie Shaw (Vanessa Kirby) injects herself with "Snowflake", a deadly programmable virus, to keep it away from Eteon, a secret group who believes mankind can only evolve once the weak have been culled. To retrieve Hattie, her brother Deckard (Jason Statham) and his former comrade/adversary Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) must team up. In their way stands Eteon's cyborg operative, Brixton Lore (Idris Elba).
You read that right. In this film, two former F&F villains team up to fight an international terrorist group whose resources are vast enough to bring a man back from the “dead” as a half-man, half-machine operative. Said cyborg  drives a motorcycle that can transform (not into a robot) depending on the rider’s needs. By comparison, Dom Toretto stomping his foot to make a crumbling parkade collapse looks like a documentary. To this picture’s credit, it starts off as a science-fiction film so if you don’t buy Brixton and Eteon, Hobbs & Shaw isn't the dumb one in the room, you are.
Well, yes and no. This film’s chief concern is to entertain and this, it does well. Would it have been too much to ask for Hobbs & Shaw to also have some neurons firing in its big testosterone-fuelled head? I don't think so. This movie just doesn’t care about time. We’re told - while the characters are in Russia - that they only have a day to extract the Snowflake virus from Hattie. The plan? Fly halfway across the world to Samoa. There, they get someone to fix the extraction machine (someone who's never seen this device before) and hack into Eteon’s system to put the heroes and villains on an even playing field. To ensure their victory, our heroes set up a bunch of guerrilla-style traps too. Presumably they also had time to rehearse a bunch of vehicle-oriented battle tactics because there’s no way the moves they pull during the climax could’ve been done on-the-fly. Even if they did plan it ahead, it still stretches plausibility to its breaking point and then keeps going for another twenty minutes.
Science fiction or not, believable or not, entertaining or not, this movie is too long. It’s got two big climaxes and you could’ve easily saved the other for a sequel or another spinoff in the franchise.
All these criticisms are well-deserved but you must also admit that in terms of entertainment value, Hobbs & Shaw score high. Statham and Johnson are clearly having a great time tearing into each other. They're continuously coming up with crazier insults and finding new ways to try and split up the pair we’ve come to see. Their efforts lead to some solid and memorable lines. Right behind them is Vanessa Kirby. When it comes to the action scenes, she keeps up with them while providing the film with some nice variety. There’s no way you’d ever see Statham or Johnson doing the kind of flips and twists she pulls off. As for Elba, he makes for a good baddie. He revels in his villainy - even though his character sometimes believes he’s good and sometimes doesn’t.
If you do the math, Hobbs & Shaw is probably what you’d call a bad movie. When you factor in the entertainment value, this big, dumb, loud buffet of chases, fights and peril squeaks by and gets a passing grade. It gets a little worse every time I see it but I’ve had fun with the film three times so far and probably will again. (February 29, 2020)

Rookie-Critic's Film Review Weekend Wrap-Up - Week of 4/24-4/30/2023
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019, dir. David Leitch) This was a good off-shoot for the F&F series. The Rock & Jason Statham feel comfortable as the titular duo and have excellent on-screen chemistry, and the action feels clean and exciting, which is no surprise considering the film was directed by John Wick-veteran David Leitch, who fits the franchise like a glove. I really enjoyed all of the climactic fight scenes with Hobbs' family in Samoa. Honestly, the more Cliff Curtis can be in major feature films, the better. Idris Elba and Vanessa Kirby also make for great additions to the growing franchise. It never really blew my mind like some of the mainline Fast films have, but I don't think it was really trying to. Sometimes a movie is just good, dumb, clean fun, and that's perfectly alright with me. I just hate that this film (along with a multitude of other behind-the-scenes reasons) means that we probably won't be seeing Luke Hobbs in any of the remaining Fast movies.
Score: 7/10
Currently available to rent/purchase on digital (iTunes, Amazon, Vudu, etc.) and on 4K, Blu-ray & DVD through Universal Studios.
F9: The Fast Saga (2021, dir. Justin Lin) After the wholly disappointing and, frankly, upsetting misstep that was The Fate of the Furious, I was curious to see if F9 would continue the downward trend, or if it would step its game up to bring some of the franchise's former glory back. When in doubt, trust in Justin Lin, who comes swooping back into the franchise for the first time since Fast & Furious 6 to save the day, with fan favorite character Han Lue in tow. This is biggest, wildest fast film yet, and I mean that as a compliment. That's not to say that it's the best (that honor is still held by Fast Five), but it does return a lot of the wonder and sincerity that Five, Six, and (to a lesser extent) Seven had. Not to mention that it is the first film in the franchise to incorporate Sean, Twinkie, and Earl from Tokyo Drift into the family in a major way since Tokyo Drift (if you don't count a tiny cameo from Lucas Black's Sean in Furious 7). Nothing about F9 feels as baseline or low-effort as the stuff in Fate did. Even the introduction of a mysterious third Toretto sibling that, for some reason, we hadn't heard about for the past eight films feels out of place or shoehorned in. Needless to say, where Fate of the Furious had me wondering if the franchise was receding in quality, F9 has me just as pumped to go see Fast X in May as I was after watching Fast Five.
Score: 8/10
Currently streaming on HBO Max.
Guy Ritchie's The Covenant (2023, dir. Guy Ritchie) I went into this with a lot of apprehension. I was not a huge fan of the last Guy Ritchie film that tried to take a more serious approach to its tone (2021's Wrath of Man). It had a lot of grandstanding machismo bullshit that I hate to see in modern filmmaking. However, Ritchie really surprised me with The Covenant. He has Jake Gyllenhaal acting at the top of his game here with an equally impressive turn from Dar Salim as Ahmed the interpreter. While the story is fiction, it highlights a huge problem in the aftermath of the War on Terror: thousands of Afghani interpreters were hired by the U.S. military and promised special immigration visas for their service; a promise that turned out to be hollow. It sends its message without grandstanding and is critical of the U.S. military without putting itself on a soapbox. The film does tend to get overly self-indulgent during big sweeping climactic scenes and in certain emotional ones, as well. It's the one thing about the film that feels out of place, but even in spite of that, The Covenant is an excellent film and proof that Ritchie is capable of making a more serious-minded, message-oriented film than the humorous heist or caper films he's known for.
Score: 8/10
Currently only in theaters.
Chevalier (2023, dir. Stephen Williams) I'll just say up front that my bias might show a little in my scoring of this one. I have never been the biggest fan of 16-1800's period pieces. I'm not sure what it is, but something about them has just never gelled with me. That being said, there's nothing really wrong with Chevalier. In fact, it is, in my opinion, much better than the average film of this sensibility. The acting is fantastic and it sheds light on an oft-overlook but quintessentially influential figure in both classical music and the French revolution. The music is a huge plus in the film's favor, of course, and the costumes are, as is the case with most film's set in this era, masterfully crafted. I think my biggest qualm with the film is that it stops right as the French revolution is getting started and then tells the audience that Chevalier went on to be a great leader during the Revolution. Maybe it's just me, but I think that sounds interesting enough to make it's own film about. This almost makes me wonder (and I don't ever really feel this way about films) if this would have been better suited as an 6-8 episode miniseries as opposed to a film. We still could have focused a 2-3 episodes on Chevalier's childhood and young adulthood in France's pre-Revolution music scene, but then dedicated an entire half of the show to his accomplishments during the Revolution. Regardless, I don't want that to take away from the fact the Chevalier was quite good, and definitely worth the ticket price. I just think more could have been done with the wealth of untold history that exists within the lifetime of this figure.
Score: 7/10
Currently only in theaters.
Polite Society (2023, dir. Nida Manzoor) This movie absolutely ruled. It gave me all of the frenetic energy of the best Edgar Wright films while also giving me the genre-bending and jaw-dropping off-the-wall attitude of something like Everything, Everywhere, All at Once. This was a film that wasn't afraid to go for it in every way, shape, and form. From campy-but-well-choreographed fight sequences, to plot twist that twist so hard they'll make your head spin, to an unabashed approach to a female-empowerment narrative. Not to mention a story that is very uniquely Indian that touches on the nature of arranged marriages and classicism. Polite Society had everything that I look for in a film, and is a very early contender for the best of 2023 list. I'll save some of my more in-depth thoughts on stuff like the acting, writing, and cinematography for this week's full-length, but just know that if anything I've mentioned above sounds even remotely interesting, make this a priority watch (I don't want to say definitively that this is the best of the weekend's new movies because I haven't seen Are You There, God? It's Me, Margaret yet, and I hear that is pretty amazing, as well).
Score: 10/10
Currently only in theaters.
A Good Man (2014, dir. Keoni Waxman) Yikes. Just... yikes. Friday movie nights with my college friends can get pretty wild sometimes. I've never seen a Steven Seagal film before, and maybe this wasn't the best one to start with (or, inversely, maybe it's the best one to start with). Seagal is clearly past his prime here (or, again, maybe in his prime, depending on your perspective), and looks like he's constantly on the verge of passing out. His words come out slurred and mumbled like he's on his deathbed, and his "action" in the film is cut around so heavily you really never see him actually do anything. The story is non-existent and the writing contains some of the most unintentionally hilarious one-liners I have ever heard in my entire life (I'm partial to the one where Seagal utters the baffling sentence "Well, I'm sorry to hear that, because now I'll snatch every motherfucker birthday." No, there's no typo there, that is verbatim what he says. My meme review is that this is great. Real "The Room" caliber stuff, here. My actual review is that obviously Seagal is a lunatic that is just self-funding whatever production he can fart out in an afternoon at this point. Honestly, if you want some quality takes on this, visit the Letterbox'd page.
Score: 1/10
Currently streaming for free with ads on Redbox. Tzi Ma should be above stuff like this.
Sisu (2023, dir. Jalmari Helander) I really wanted to love Sisu. I'm as much a fan of mindless action movies as the next guy, but the truth is I thought it was just ok. It delivers on exactly what it promised everyone in the trailers, one-man army kills the crap out of some Nazis for 91 minutes, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. There are a handful of really fun set pieces and lots of entertaining gore for fans of that kind of thing, but it just felt incredibly hollow. There are no characters in Sisu, only templates of archetypes that things happen to. No one learns anything, there's no journey to be had, merely an avatar quickly making his way through bodies to get to a destination. I'm not implying that every single movie needs to have some grand, elaborate story with deep and complex characters and rich subtext or anything like that, but I would have liked at least some substance to this. There are still things to enjoy in Sisu, and from what I've read I'm a slight outlier in not thinking this is incredible, but it just didn't connect with me. However, don't let that stop you from seeing this in the theater. The cinematography and style alone are worth the big screen experience.
Score: 6/10

I rewatched the new Suicide Squad movie; it’s better than I remember – My Opinion
A few nights ago, I rewatched the new Suicide Squad movie. I was already excited when I first watched it, but I was even more excited watching it again. If you haven’t watched this yet, spoilers are coming up.
DC’s The Suicide Squad was directed by James Gunn, who also directed Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy movies. The movie was released on August 6, 2021, and premiered on HBO Max. The cast was a complete shake-up compared to the first rendition. I first learned of the new Suicide Squad movie watching DC Fandome. The cast and the director did a segment at the event to announce the movie. They announced the characters and talked about their journey in creating the movie. I was thrilled that Will Smith wasn’t called back to revise his Deadshot role. I like Will Smith, but he didn’t seem to fit the movie or even the franchise. I feel like making the new Suicide Squad was a second chance for DC Comics. I loved the soundtrack from the Suicide Squad movie released in 2016, but it was disappointing. It received a 26% Rotten Tomatoes rating, and the plot didn’t seem organized. Compared to the new rendition, Suicide Squad was lazy writing.
Fast-forward to January 2022; The Suicide Squad premiered on HBO Max. As I got comfortable watching the movie, I wondered if it would be as disappointing as the first one. However, I stood corrected; I had so much fun watching it. Plus, the action sequences are better compared to the old movie. To start, the movie introduced a set of characters chosen to go on a mission as Task Force X. DC even gave Pete Davidson a cameo as one of the criminals not very popular; one could even say, characters with useless and silly abilities. The Weasel was my favorite out of that group; it was hilarious when he jumped out of the plane and the team found out he couldn’t swim. He was the first casualty of the movie just because no one checked to see if the Weasel was able to swim. Waller was so angry.
Speaking of Waller, Viola Davis is one of the most distinguished actresses in the industry, and she played her role perfectly. Not only did she match the serious and cold demeanor, the uncomfortable silence from the staff, plus the way she responded to silly actions from the ground team added to the comedic aspect of the movie. She assigned the leadership role to Bloodsport, a mercenary in prison for attempting to assassinate Superman. I didn’t expect to see Idris Elba in a DC movie, but I think it makes sense after that Superman reference in Hobbs and Shaw.
I was excited to see many characters in the movie, even a couple of them from the previous Suicide Squad. Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn is the only Harley Quinn I’ll accept in DC’s live-action movies; I can’t think of a better actress for the character than Margot. Whenever I saw King Shark, it was like seeing a puppy play and discover new things or seeing a newborn. He was such a heartwarming character, and so was Ratcatcher 2. Her story about her father was so touching. It showed that she was just a little girl who lost her dad. However, Ratcatcher 2 pulled through at the end of the movie. She even helped liberate a country from dictatorship. Finally, I loved John Cena’s role as Peacemaker, but I wasn’t feeling it. He was a good rival for Bloodsport, and I loved their banter; however, I didn’t like Peacemaker or John Cena. There’s no hate towards John Cena, but I never got excited to see him in a movie. However, in the end, he showed the plot's true antagonist, and I admit that he was great in the movie. He was funny, and his character’s fighting sequences were amazing.
Each experience I detailed in this blog carried a level of excitement like the excitement I had watching Incredibles 2, and I experienced even more excitement rewatching The Suicide Squad. I was laughing through the entire movie. I’m glad that Warner Brothers was able to release such a movie after their flop with their Justice League movie. This movie is one of the many new movies to be released. I just hope that Black Adam can live up to this excitement. It may not have gained a standing ovation like the recent Spider-Man movie from Marvel, but it’s progress.

Fast X Opening Weekend Box Office Falls Behind F9 Despite Strong Day 1
Tumblr media
Fast X has slumped slightly at the box office toward the end of its opening weekend. The film is the tenth entry in the long-running franchise which began with the 2001 action-crime movie The Fast and the Furious. It follows the continued adventures of the found family at the center of the series including Dom (Vin Diesel), Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), Roman (Tyrese Gibson), and Tej (Ludacris) as they square off against a new villain Dante Reyes (Jason Momoa) who is on a quest for vengeance after his drug kingpin father was killed during the events of 2011's Fast Five.
Per Deadline, the Fast X box office hit the brakes toward the end of its opening weekend. Despite an opening day that grossed higher than the previous film F9: The Fast Saga it couldn't sustain that lead and fell slightly behind, eventually closing the weekend with a domestic gross of $67 million. This is $3 million behind F9's domestic opening of $70 million back in 2021.
How Fast X's Box Office Compares to the Rest of the Franchise
Tumblr media
This opening weekend places Fast X squarely in the middle of the franchise. At the very least, it maintains the new era of the series' record of continuing to gross higher than the first three films (the original, 2 Fast 2 Furious, and The Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift). It also grossed a higher opening weekend than the Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham spinoff Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.
This means that its total domestic run will probably end up squarely in the middle as well. There is precedent for films that opened lower in the franchise to earn a slight boost as time goes by, like Hobbs & Shaw which ended up being the fifth highest-grossing film in the franchise despite a seventh-place opening weekend. However, even if Fast X eventually rises over F9 in the long run, it doesn't seem likely that it will end up much higher than that film's No. 6 ranking on the domestic chart.
While Fast X isn't turning out a great performance in the U.S., it is still poised to close the weekend with $320 million at the global box office. This number is what will inject fuel in the franchise's tank and allow it to keep running into the planned Fast 11 sequel and a potential twelfth and final entry. However, if those films show a similar slow decline at the box office, this may prevent the franchise from continuing beyond that point until the time comes for a reboot where it can start fresh.

Saw Fast X yesterday, it yet again did just a completely new thing but THIS time I’m pretty sure they’re beginning the end, maybe. It’s also funny cause I didn’t do a full rewatch and just thought 7, 8 & 9 would do. But nope Fast Five came back into play lol.
But yeah gonna rant about the series first. I remember thinking Fate was the beginning of the end, after continuing without Brian a final story over 3 films made sense, and Cipher felt exactly like the type of powerful villain it would take 3 movies to defeat. Which is why I was disappointed in F9 when it came out. Cause it literally didn’t build off of Fate, it just jumped over and was like “now for something completely different!” Just a completely different thing. Cipher’s there because I guess they had to do something with her. Just felt annoying, but then hey maybe THIS is the start of ending the series? NOPE.
Fast X yet again just jumps over and does something completely different. New bad guy connected to the past (Jason fucking killed it though, he seemed like he had a lot of fun). But now I really, really hope he’s the final villain. They’re doing 2 more not 1, so this could be the final trilogy story to end it. Hopefully. This one ending on a cliffhanger and not a family get-together after defeating the bad guy gives me hope it is.
Okay now onto Fast X, firstly the get-together at the beginning, the way they did it in F9 was perfect. But here Brian’s absence was really distracting, especially with no explanation and then a scene that made it feel as if he was dead. I’m not for any other film really doing this with an actor, but if the last film ends with a get-together I hope they do what they did at the end of Furious 7 and put Brian in there, just smiling with his family you know.
Also killing a character is not a bad thing but Jakob “dying” in this was so stupid hahah, especially when followed by Gisele being alive. Like fuck off we know he’s not dead lol. Speaking of Jakob, I guess it’s been a few years but I felt they didn’t reconnect in such a strong way at the end of F9, more like "we simply don’t hate each other anymore” not “call me if you need a babysitter”. His character just felt entirely different to who he was in F9. Felt more like a generic character in a family-friendly action film, where in F9 he was a much more interesting character. I enjoyed him and B in this, it was fun, but it was such a weird character change and that wasn’t as enjoyable.
Anyway loved the Hobbs scene, knowing he was coming back for 11. I guess they’d have to come up with more things for F11 but I felt it was the perfect set-up for a Hobbs & Shaw 2. Like Shaw’s going to protect his mom from Dante and Hobbs has to do the same for his family. Hattie can help. Boom, perfect sequel. Oh well, it’ll be just as fun in F11, really hope they bring Hattie back though. And Owen. Have the whole Shaw family in an action scene together.
But yeah I guess I was surprised for it to not continue from F9′s story and instead just do a completely different thing again. Should have seen that coming but I didn’t. They made it very clear 11 was going to straight up continue from this one though and I swear if they just do a time-jump and then something completely different I’m actually gonna be upset. Twice is enough. But still, love this series so much, they’re so damn fun to watch. I’m glad it was able to become what it has become.

Fast X: Out Of Theater Reaction
Tumblr media
Fast and Furious has taken a wild turn into the realm of absolute silliness in Fast X, and guess what? I think I like it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPnJiCkZ2lU&list=PLsD5qP1WqKt5IlQTKLGq2_LII03QZMprc This movie fully embraces its over-the-top nature and ends up serving up an entertaining rollercoaster ride that'll leave you grinning and questioning your sanity. The action? Undeniably nuts and is straining the limits of reality. Characters survive death-defying battles one moment and emerge unscathed the next. Outrageous and I'm here for it! Acting isn't the draw for a Fast and Furious movie. I know this, this isn't the place to start critiquing performances. No worries, we're here for stunts, not the Oscars. Dom's ripped biceps deserves a shout-out. Seriously, the dude never skips arm day. Vin Diesel is more like Superman than Batman in this entry. Did Dom really lift a car? Why, yes. Yes, he did! Now, let's talk Jason Momoa, with all his Joker-like delight. His performance injects infectious enthusiasm and a cool terrifying vibe into the film. Can he be Lobo in the future PLEASE? Sign me up! And Jason Statham's slick cameo? Setting up potential sequels? Genius move! Hobbs and Shaw sequel, anyone? Get ready for more kick-ass action. Sure, the Fast X is a tad long, testing even the most dedicated fans. But don't worry! Fast X has an energetic soundtrack that keeps the adrenaline pumping and distracts you from any shortcomings. Fast X rekindles my love for street racing with its exciting, nostalgia-inducing scenes. High-speed competitions are a blast! Can we get a standalone street racing movie, please? And, I couldn't help but wonder, "Where's Brian?" His absence leaves a void. Bring him back, and emotions will run high in future Fast and Furious flicks. In the end, this unexpected love affair with the film took me by surprise. Fast and Furious embraces silliness with open arms, delivering an insanely entertaining joyride. So buckle up and take this detour into absurdity—it's a journey worth experiencing for die-hard fans.   Read the full article

Transporter jason statham movies
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
To prove that “The Transporter” series is the essence of this discussion I will give example for each of the core features mentioned below coming from “The Transporter” series. It means, that before Transporter Jason was clearly British character, but after the success of the first part, this feature is evaporating more and more with every new movie. Interestingly, “Britishness” was an important part of his persona, but in my view, it was consequently disappearing and his creations were modeled on American style. The same reviewer describes Jason Statham as “one of England’s rising generation of laddie stars ” (note that despite mentioned “ Lock Stock and Smoking Barrels” Jason played in “ Snatch” directed by the same actor, which is pretty much the same kind of movie.) It give the impression of how Statham was perceived before he reached the top. Luc Besson, called “French one-man film industry” by Dave Kehr in his review of the first part of Transporter for “The New York Times” is responsible for the script. But we all know the story and the pattern is the same in every movie. Series of films consisting of three parts where Statham is a major actor tells the story of ex-serviceman who works as a messenger for criminal organizations. After all, Han Lue has a score to settle Shaw shouldn't be sleeping easy after what he did to the beloved character. We come back from the dark side of the Moon (and cinematography) to discuss the principal movies in Jason Statham’s career. Therefore, Fast & Furious fans should hopefully anticipate being reacquainted with Deckard Shaw at some point later down the road. He also expressed interest in returning to the regular F&F universe. In an interview with Collider, Jason Statham showed enthusiasm for Hobbs & Shaw 2, though the action actor admits that the script needs to come together before he signs on the dotted line. But when can we expect to reunite with these high-speed knuckleheads? For now, we'll have to wait and see, but Statham is game. Suffice to say, we haven't seen the last of Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw. A sequel hasn't been officially announced, but Hobbs & Shaw did better-than-decent business, pulling in nearly $800 million worldwide. In the vein of Tango & Cash, this ludicrous spectacle was more winking and sardonic than previous F&F movies it relied heavily on the rough-and-tumble star power of its A-list lead actors. Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, was a big-budget showcase for its lead actors and producers, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Jason Statham. How about that?Ī high-testosterone, push-and-pull buddy/frenemy spin-off adventure centered around two rip-roaring side characters from the Fast & Furious universe, Hobbs & Shaw, a.k.a. Since it's currently in post-production, though, it's not impossible to presume that we might be getting two Jason Statham/Guy Ritchie movies in one year. Right now, we don't know when we can expect to see this new movie, which is reportedly titled Five Eyes. While the plot sounds like a million other movies in the increasingly expansive spy genre, this one should hopefully benefit from the long-standing collaborative mojo shared between its lead star and experienced filmmaker, along with the spunky energy and quick wit that's typically found in the filmmaker's better films. It's a mismatched pairing that might prove to be equally as volatile - perhaps equally as explosive, too. During this perilous mission, our loner agent must learn to collaborate with a top-notch CIA agent (Aubrey Plaza). The actor and director will reunite once more for an untitled action-thriller that will feature Statham as an M16 agent who gets recruited by a global intelligence alliance to track down and stop the sale of deadly weapon technology that threatens the world's annihilation. There was an extended delay between 2005's Revolver and this past weekend's Wrath of Man, but we won't have to wait quite as long for the next team-up between Jason Statham and Guy Ritchie. Untitled Guy Ritchie Film - TBD (Post-Production)

The Fate of the Furious (2017)
Tumblr media
The Fast and Furious series has had its ups and downs but since the fifth entry, it’s been a steady climb. It all lead to the seventh entry and its goodbye to Paul Walker, who died tragically before shooting ended. This would’ve been the perfect time to end the series on a high note but woah-hoah! Did you see those box-office results? No way they were going to stop there. This brings us to The Fate of the Furious, which has many fan-pleasing moments but makes you wonder if the series has run out of ideas.
Cyber superterrorist Cipher (Charlize Theron) strongarms Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) into working for her and betraying his “family”. Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson), Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), Roman (Tyrese Gibson), Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel) and Tej (Chris “Ludacris” Bridges) must team up with their old nemesis, Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), to take them down.
Based on what we’ve seen before, you have certain expectations of Fast and Furious 8. Thankfully, all the checkboxes get ticked. We get a nice street race with Dom that’s so wild, it’ll have you jumping out of your seat in excitement. You get speeches about family, pretty much everyone who played a part in any of the previous films is back for at least a little bit, and they’re used quite well. Particularly fun is Kurt Russell as “Mr. Nobody”, the man who helps the crew by providing them the cars and tools they need to blow away their opponent and the audience's minds too. Nothing’s quite as crazy as the car racing through those three skyscrapers in #7 but wait till you see what kinda tricks Cipher has up her sleeve. It’s pretty sweet.
We've been told two more Fast & Furious movies will come after this one. If so, I hope the writers can turn the key on something more inspired. Much of what we see here, we've seen Dom and the family encounter before. Hobbs started out as an enemy but he teamed up with the heroes in #6. The family being betrayed by one of their own? Also in #6. I know it’ll sound weird to expect some brains from this series but when you find out why Dom is betraying everyone, it's so contrived you're pulled out of the movie. He couldn’t leave a note explaining to them what was happening? Really? To an extent you can buy Hobbs shrugging off rubber bullets - it’s nothing compared to that cement-shattering stomp Dom delivered in the previous movie - but when your characters do impossible things over and over AND they don’t act logically, it feels like the filmmakers are taking the audience for granted. By the time this movie’s over, everyone acts as if they’re best buds with Deckard Shaw. Did they just forget he was trying to kill them one movie ago, and that he assassinated their friend Hahn? This movie is paying attention to its continuity because it brings back characters and references previous actions… but hopes we’ll just shrug off other big plot points.
The climax is where it really gets nuts, all for the better. You’ve seen cars against a tank. Then, they took on a suped-up anti-aircraft drone in the middle of Los Angeles. What could possibly top that? How about a nuclear submarine? Woah. It’s as preposterous and awesome as it sounds. THen, we get even more. At the same time, Deckard and Owen Shaw (Luke Evans, playing another villain who gets chummy with the heroes) are assigned their own mission, one that delivers both thrills and comedy.
The Fate of the Furious delivers what you want to see. Dwayne Johnson gets a juicy stack of zingers, Vin Diesel talks about family, you get the hot ladies and the hotter cars. There’s action, comedy, drama and thrills. There are a couple of inventive action scenes and the chemistry between the actors is so good you’ll swallow just about anything they serve you. Too bad the plot lacks imagination. It makes he whole thing feels more like a cash-grab than a necessary continuation. Hopefully, this is a momentary dip. If what follows is great, then I’ll have no problem with it. Otherwise, we'll all be telling future fans to just stop at Fast & Furious 7. (On Blu-ray, April 26, 2019)

Stupid in Love

Deckard Shaw x Reader
Words: 1140
Warnings: Mention of smut
Summary: Your relationship with him was never supposed to last this long. One night, it was supposed to be only one, and yet here you are.
You woke up at 2am. You were tired, extremely tired from the mission you just got back from. But you were not in your bed. Not even in your apartment.
You were at Deckard’s penthouse.
His bed was far too big. Even if you two were only a fling, the bed felt really cold. He always slept on the opposite side, and only came over to yours when he needed something.
You were not a fan of that approach.
You knew you needed to stop this kind of relationship. Even if you did have your fun and good moments, it wasn’t anything serious.
This whole fling started six months ago, when Hobbs were finally in better terms with the man. You two met, your eyes met, phone numbers got exchanged, a couple drinks and a few hours later you found yourself under him in your bed. And you didn’t complain.
And even though you told yourself that you wouldn’t want more, wouldn’t need more, of course, you ended up wanting more.
Who wouldn’t?
The man was perfect. Even if he was a killer. He was skilled, sexy and handsome. And as you learned during the last couple weeks, he was funny and could be very kind.
About three weeks ago, he texted you to meet him. His usual texts are just an invitation to his bed but this was different. This time, he wanted to have dinner, which did surprise you, but you were very hungry that day, so you went.
You had the best day of your life.
You two had wine, amazing food, dessert, more drinks and at the end mind-blowing sex. Perfect.
Only if it was a real date.
Then, the next week he asked you to meet at his place, and to your surprise, he had a movie night planned.
Of course, with an action movie where he kept on telling you how awful the action was, you really liked that side of him. He was even more open, let his guard down.
Then, you left to your mission with Hobbs and now, you were at his place. You asked him if you could come over and he said yes, you two sat on his balcony with a nice glass of whiskey, just talking about everything and anything.
The two of you went to bed after what felt like hours and hours of talking. But he was just too far away.
His bed was way too big for your liking.
After such a stressful job, you wanted someone to hold you, to run their hands up and down your back and tell you that it was okay.
However, you felt lonely, even if he was right next to you. You slowly sat up and as quietly as you possibly could, you walked out of the room and to the bathroom then to the kitchen to get yourself some water. You hoped it would help but it didn’t.
You knew what the problem was.
You were not sure what you and Deckard were. You wanted to be in a serious relationship with the man, but you were sure if you told him that, he would leave and you would never see him again. And that terrified you.
You weren’t sure if you wanted to bite the bullet and tell him about your feelings, you didn’t want to lose him. Even as a friend he was great, and your stupid feelings could ruin everything.
You put the glass down but before you could go back upstairs you saw a person standing in the dark. Thankfully the years of experience made you not freak out in a situation like this, it still scared you a little.
“Trying to sneak up on me?” you asked.
“Not at all, are you okay?”
“Oh, yes. I think it’s still the adrenaline from the job. I’ll be out like a light soon.”
“I could practically hear you thinking up there. What’s on your mind, Sweetheart?” he walked over to you and embraced you, kept you close but not too close so he could still see your face even in the dark. Damn him and the mixed signals he is giving you.
You debated seriously for a moment to just tell him everything. Pour out everything you had in you. Leave your heart on a silver plate for him right next to a dagger and see what he would do with it.
You looked into his eyes, let your hands, fingers and palm run over his features, in case this would be the last time you would be able to touch him.
Then you jumped right off the cliff.
“What are we Deckard? Colleagues? Friends with benefits? Or are we…dating? I’m just confused.”
He froze.
Oh, no. No no no no no.
Now you have done it. You have lost him.
“Sweetheart…I-I-“ he was stuttering and from what you could tell, Deckard was not a man to stutter. But you just stood there, in his arms, waiting for him to just spit it out. “I thought we already were…dating.”
You blinked. Like a fish out of water, you opened and closed your mouth, not sure what to say.
“I wasn’t exactly clear about it I guess. When I asked you to meet me three weeks ago… that was a date. I thought it was obvious but I guess not.”
“I’m stupid.” you felt embarrassed. As you put your head into his chest to hide your face, not that he would see it in the dark, but you were sure you looked as bad as you felt.
As a response, he wrapped his arms around you.
“I’m sorry, Darling, I should have been more forward about this, but romance is not my speciality.” you tightened your arms around him, letting him know that it was okay. “I assumed you would realize when I wouldn’t only ask you to come over for sex. I really do like you, Y/N. I liked you for the last six months, but I was too stupid to say anything. And I made you worry.”
“Looks like both of us are stupid.” you smiled as you pulled back to look at him, he smiled and so did you.
“Stupid in love.” said Deckard before he pulled you in for a slow kiss.
Oh, yes, both of you were definitely stupid in love, but if someone, the two of you would be able to do it.
After the kiss, both of you made it back upstairs and into bed where he held you all night long, which he planned on doing for the rest of his life.
And finally, you no longer felt lonely.
