i wonder where the idea of chilchuck being a deadbeat came from when theres like. no textual evidence for it ?

he knows what all of them are up to; he still writes to flertom and she sent him his neckwarmer, so that to me implies that they at least have a somewhat positive relationship?

its more ambiguous with meijack and puckpatti, but since meijack is also a picklock, i wouldn't be surprised if he taught her himself, considering how trades are often passed down through families, and because he talks about sending people to her if he dies.

also the way he talks about puckpatti is very like... it's obvious he wants her to take things more seriously, but he's accepting, and his tone here reads more fond to me than anything else.

like, he keeps his daughters' old toys under his desk? that doesn't scream 'deadbeat' at all, it screams 'empty nester' who doesn't know how to reach out or is scared to do so

EDIT: i know a lot of the 'deadbeat dad' stuff is jokes, but some people are Not joking and genuinely think chilchuck is a bad dad. this post is not saying that you cant joke about it; it is just outlining what canon shows regarding his (clearly positive) relationship with his kids.

okay he basically just confirmed buddie canon because "trying to give the audience what they want" he's basically confirming that buddie is going to go canon eventually. Like that's literally the only thing and how they're gonna get closer then ever this season and a lot of changes in the relationship....I don't think that's just Buck being Bi. Call me a clown but I truly think we are getting Buddie canon confirmation at the very least this season.

Alright, let's calm the fuck down a little /gen. I'm all for clowning, in fact, the clown makeup is permanently fixed to my face, honk honk and what not. but he didn't "basically confirm" canon buddie and that's the kind of thinking that gets people in trouble. what he said was "there's going to be a lot of changes in their relationship" and "they're trying to give the audience everything they want," but i should remind everyone that we! are not! the entirety! of their audience! i'm not sure we even make up half. we're just some guys on a silly little website (or apps, when you include twt/insta/tiktok fandoms) and, outside of our little bubble of a couple thousand, maybe, there are Millions of people who have little to no investment in buck/eddie kissing on screen. so let's just *inhale* take a deep breath. have some fun, yes, absolutely go fucking crazy! i sure am! but don't fall into the trap of "well, ryan said buddie is practically canon" because he absolutely Did Not. and as we all know, buck/eddie's dynamic was missing from season 6 and we (the fandom) weren't the only ones who noticed/felt it, i'm sure. so giving the audience what they want could just mean bringing back their friendship (which is good and fine for me btw. i love bestie buddie and they are in love regardless). so just. yes. let's clown but let's also make sure we clown using the right wording to keep from setting ourselves up in the future. things ryan said: "this goes beyond friendship and i love you to the core." things ryan has not said: "buddie is real." so. you see.
