Since the history of Y/N stories, the reader ALWAYS had a backstory. I fail to see how this suddenly makes Y/N a OC. The same goes for gender. Usually in the description or first sentence you would immediately know Y/N’s gender. It’s nice to be inclusive but you can’t force the author to cater to a specific demographic.

I will admit though: I LOATHE when a author enforces a skintone onto Y/N without mentioning it in the beginning. The fact this stuff is rarely tag is pretty annoying. If authors have to tag their fanfic with “POC!Reader” to point out that reader is meant to have a ethnic background, for the love of god please do the same if the reader is meant to be interpreted as white. Nothing puts me out of a story when I envisioned a character to fit the story only to see them described as “pale, fair skinned” by the narrator several paragraphs later.

There is a really nice plugin for AO3 where it can replace pronouns and fill in the Y/N slot with an actual name. It would be nice if such a plugin existed for tumblr. Authors won’t have to give into obligations and those who feel alienated can still enjoy the work.

EXACTLY, like especially for authors who do long fics or series, giving reader 0 personality/no background story is next to impossible unless you just want them to like ... be there and take no initiative in the story and just have things happen to them and for them to have no reaction to anything. like even in smut and headcanons, there are going to be little things you can pick out personality-wise, its next to impossible to just have a cardboard cut out reader for any type of fic, much less long fics/series. someone will always disagree with something <- but tee explained this all better in her long rb addition to that post

AND I TOTALLY AGREE! like they had very valid points about physical appearance and properly tagging gender, but i hate the fact that they added all of those valid points in that mess of an argument of why "x reader fics" should have no personality or background, because i felt as if it was totally taking away from that. it's two totally separate issues that they were trying to combine into one big one but just made an even bigger mess out of it.

for real! ao3's tagging system is top tier like i know a lot of people find it confusing but it's so nice to be able to filter any and everything you want or don't want.

As for the tarot cards, i think it reallyyyy depends on where you're ordering from. to my understanding, the tarot cards came with a deluxe edition of the ioh CD, meaning it is a bit rare to come by, doubly meaning that Most of them probably do Not have the tarot cards. However, if you did some digging i'm sure you could find them! I'd highly highly rec looking around on the website discogs, that's where I've found a Lot of rarer fob stuff like this (including my own ioh cd/tarot cards that i found by specifically looking up infinity on high tarot cards discogs or something along those lines). People list stuff on there all the time, so if you can't find someone selling a cd with the card right Now, check back every once in a while!! hope all of this helps mwah <3

gods listening to music of artists that i've gone and seen in concert/at raves and just like. reliving the euphoria of the moment when i was there at the live performance like. obviously sitting at my desk with my headphones is not the same as being at a rave or concert but i can kind of capture some of the memory and those good feels are just smth else

#blog post #tw ahead im gonna go on about some dark shit #kind of? idk #like so when i was younger and struggling #by which i mean when i was suicidal from ages 9-18 #one thing i tried when i was 15-18 was making a bucket list and essentially it was stuff i wanted to do before i died because saying #'im at least gonna live to do these things' was SO much easier than saying 'im gonna live the rest of my life' back then #and on that list was going to several concerts (all of which i've done now!!) and like tbh i had my doubts like is a concert good enough #to keep living for (yes) and like what happens after i see these bands in concert (i wait for them to tour again and see them again duh) #(and also see other bands) #and i wish i could go back in time to past us and be like. u were so right. seeing these groups/artists in concert (and the ones i like now #and hadn't heard of back then) is SOO worth it #im so glad i have been alive to go to all the concerts and the rave that i went to in the past year and a half it was so so good #and im so fuckin excited to go to more #there's at least two concerts im planning on going to this spring plus a rave im considering going to (its a three hour drive one way so #idk yet) plus our top favorite band for years is hinting at releasing new music which means a tour!! #im just gettin the feels because im remembering good memories and so fuckin excited to make more good memories #im so glad im alive and honestly that brings tears to my eyes that i can say that totally honestly now #like. i have a cat! i am reconnecting with family i didnt use to be close with! im working on cutting off toxic family! im working on #health issues which is very good. im out as queer and im so happy and proud of that. i have several hyperfixations i love consuming and #cosplaying. cosplaying!! i have so much fun making tiktoks and going to cons and putting everything together its so great!! im starting to #work on my big huge writing project with my coauthors for the first time in years and im soooo excited to revive that old hyperfixation and #share it!! i have an awesome partner who i care very much about and while i recently cut off some toxic friends i have plenty actual #friends that im so glad to have!! #im currently at a job that pays well and that i enjoy which is a win for me and i might possibly be in a position to go back to college #soon which means going into my preferred field which im SO stoked for!! and im actually really excited to go back to college. when we were #in person i had such a great experience and i cant wait to go back #ough
