Killing yourself won't bring your dad back! I'm sorry that he died, but that was a long time ago. You gotta move on! Stop living in the past, and look what you got right in front of you! VISITORS
Platonic Logan Howlett x OC
Summary: just a lil Drabble from a fanfic I never finished and hardly started
Warnings: ……swearing maybe?; unedited bullshit
Stares fell on me inevitably like I was the magnet and their eyes were the iron as I crossed the school grounds.
Some things never change, I guess.
The looks had a wide range though: Most were dirty or hungry stares, some held fear, others were laced with pure curiosity.
I was the newest thing to be thirsty for, the circus, the best gossip in the past months, and to those who looked on with fear - the next danger in their fucking hell of a life. And it made me wonder how much must have happened to those that their trust issues reached a paranoia that warned them of a single individual casually walking through their heavily guarded home.
A part of me didn't want to know.
But perhaps they should have been relieved they couldn't see all the weapons I was carrying. I probably didn't need them, but one could never be too careful.
Silently I thanked the gods I hadn't brought my swords, which I couldn't hide so easily. I could've caused someone a panic attack.
Logan stood waiting for me at the entrance, and my guess told me that was an abnormality in itself and that just that might have saved me from even more fear, but granted me more attention.
I'm not one to complain.
His face was stern and cold, and he gave out warning looks to the boys and some girls looking at me thirstily.  Why does he hide his smile? It's the only acceptable part of him most of the time...
I pondered whether he felt the need to look tough in front of his students and maybe even coworkers. He definitely made himself that image when it came to the outside world. And that made me wonder if he was ever himself here. Did he even smile with Jean? The thought of his smile being such a rare occurrence around here made me sad for those who missed it, but I understood. I understood but I wished... I wish he wouldn't. Then again, it gave me a sense of pride I immediately felt guilty for. So I'm the only one who always gets to see it.
Yet I ignored every thought and placed a smirk on my face as I approached him. More heads turned and the whispers grew heavier as I crossed my arms and looked at him mischievously as always.
Even though he was 6'2 and I was 5'2 I towered over him in our eyes. I may never know how other people perceive it. If for them I look like the small one next to him. But he seemed small for me, perhaps because I knew how small he had been so many times. And for him I was the biggest person he knew, because I, and I quote, 'have a big personality'.
"What are you looking at me like that for?", he growled, already feeling he knew the answer.
"Oh, I am going to have such a great time here. I will meet all your little friends and students you've told me about, tell them stories about you, show them baby pictures-"
"There are no baby pictures of me", he said it so triumphantly I almost believed him. Kidding. A grin plastered on my face, I stayed silent, just long enough for him to realise his mistake.
"Really? Is that what you think?" My eyebrows raised provocatively as I twirled a strand of hair between my fingers.
A glimpse of unimportant fear flickered in his eyes briefly, before narrowing them and glaring at me in a 'don't-you-dare' kind of a way.
It was a comforting thing in my eyes. That someone who had gone through hell and back could still be scared of things as simple as his coworkers and students seeing their baby photos. Mind you, he knows damn well if anyone would actually do it it would be me.
"It's nice to finally see you again", he broke the silence, his gaze softening as the act fell and for a moment I caught his smile red-handed. Even here.
I could have sworn a few students gasped at his expression and I could hear talk of us being together. Let them gossip. They won't find news as hot as us for a while.
"I dare say you missed me", I smiled and wrapped an arm around his neck and gave him half a hug. A real greeting would have to wait 'til later.
Beside us, someone cleared their throat and I stood back again, allowing my eyes to fall upon a red-haired woman who I immediately recognized.
"Jean!", I cried in delight, and confusion spread over her formerly grim face, "It is so wonderful to see you, hon."
The look on her face... priceless.
"I... What? Do I know you?", she stammered in bewilderment as Logan seemed to be sinking in a sea of dread.
As he should be.
Even though I would recognize her anywhere at this point, she looked different than how Logan saw her. His mind coloured her in such endless beauty she looked amazing, but seeing her with my own eyes... she just looked normal. As normal as any other out there. And I imagined how much love it would take to change a person's appearance so much in one's mind. Perhaps I would never know, for that's how I would always see the person after all.
"No. But I know you so well. Oh my fuckin', god you have no idea how many stories I've heard. I feel like I've already met you, darlin'." Next to me Logan looked like he just wanted to disappear as Jean looked over at him and I grinned. He needed that humiliation every now and then. Most of us did.
"Also, your hair would look nicer short in my opinion. Make of that what you will but I stand by it."
Jean looked thoroughly taken aback as I showed her my sweetest smile. Something in me was singing Kill her, kill her not, kill her, kill her more because of all the things Logan had told me she had done by him, but yet another part found deep respect appropriate. She looked like someone who could deserve both. Maybe she was conflicted, too. Maybe she's like me.
But the thought quickly vanished with the usual counter-argument: I'm one of a kind. That's good. One more me and the world would be too dark and complicated to live in.
"Logan, who is this?", the way she said it made her more dispicable than before. She played with her victims; I could tell.
I love you. But not like that. I'd die for you - but don't text you back. I choose him. But only in the softest of voices do I speak to you. In the most loving ways do I treat you. But you're not the one for me. That kind of person.
"This is... an old friend. One who I regret introducing to this school", he replied grumpily, and suddenly I was the extra. The one too many. The third wheel instead of her. Fuck this.
"You speak too soon, honey. I'm sure everyone here will love me", I repressed any hurt in my voice and looked back at Jean. Such a stunner, right?
"Yes... I'm sure the boys will", Jean muttered venomously. I'm not sure if she intended for me to hear or not but my blood was boiling. Well, I tried.
"Logan, where's your room?", my eyes didn't leave Jean's as I asked him innocently, letting a dangerous undertone find its way to my words, and I could almost hear Jean gasp internally. Ha. Not the only mind-reader, are you.
"Up two floors, down right corridor, third door, no name", he said quickly, but not hurriedly. I bet as soon as I go he'll tell Jean 'it's not what you think'. Yeah, hon. Sure.
"What makes you think you can just barge into this school and it's okay?"
You just had to push it, didn't you.
"I didn't barge in. I got invited, sweetheart."
Bestie here was getting nervous. Me against his crush in a fight? Good luck with that.
And no. By fight I don't necessarily mean physical. Although that's not out of the question, either.
"And if you don't wanna talk to me then fucking don't. I sure as hell won't feel like I'm missing out."
"Yn.", Logan said in a reprimanding tone, that only to me sounded like a plead.
"Okay, I'll spare her. But please tell her to mind her manners with me. I don't fair well with... people I don't like or who mistreat me." I finally looked away from her and the look I shot Logan wrote miles. He nodded solemnly and added: "Go on, then. I'll let you watch."
I smiled again and strutted past him into the building, leaving silence and looks of awe in my wake. I'm a performer, and all of life is my spectator.
I did feel like that sometimes. I was forced onto stage straight out of a brawl so I could put more emotion behind my stage name. My audience was a demon that had decided to build me, purely for entertainment and as much drama as possible. I always grant you that, don't I?
I reached the corridor that Logan had advised me to go to, only to be distracted by two students near the end of the hall who were making out.
"Guys, isn't this the teachers' section? I mean hey, I won't tell, but a little risky, don't ya think?" Look who's talking.
The two teenagers fell apart in seconds and started sharing excuses and questions at a speed even I could hardly decode.
"As I said. You don't have to make excuses to me, but slogan will be coming up soon and I don't think you would've liked that confrontation."
One of the two guys looked like he was about to faint and the other had put on a resolute facade but was practically trembling.
"I- Look, can you please- no one knows we're- yknow. Please don't be a bitch about it, either", the one of them said, looking at me with so much intensity it was impressive.
The other slowly added: "Calling her a bitch probably won't help..." He said it in a very loving and caring manner, almost like an old habit of bickering, which only they understood and knew to be a tease. Sweet.
"No big deal, and I wouldn't. I love a bit of gossip but we are one of a kind and we do have to stick up for each other. Now hurry on. I can hear Logan coming", I gave them one last smile before opening the only unnamed door and entering his room. In truth, Logan had just set foot inside the mansion after talking to Jean, but that way they had some time to escape at least.
Now, for the record, I did know what Logan's room looked like. He's not too old for video-call - but being being here is something else entirely.

3 am convenience store runs with Xiao
youtube
Had this one in drafts for a while ever since the playlist came out. Finally finished it with some extra stuff like left over fabric from a dress that's been made. That'll be in another post.
Adeptus Xiao |Friendship Progresses
The night was clear, the tussle of the short grass and its smell being carried by the wind calmed the boy on the swing.
Eyes closed and head up he waited. Waited for the sound of footsteps. Footsteps he knew would belong to...
"What do you want?"
"What are you talking about? You invited me out."
Completely ignoring what you said, xiao huffed and stood up from his seat on the swing, making start to make a swift start to the walk the two of you would take together.
He didn't exactly cover up his embarrassment well, his struggle for a request of affection still amusing you enough to snort at his failed attempt of hiding his light blush.
"Are you coming?" Despite being the one to walk away, he paused looking over his shoulder his stern gaze softening once his eyes caught a glance at your smile warm and gentle. He could melt on the spot.
_____________
"What's wrong?" Looking over, still keeping to his brisk steps, you felt a suspicious feeling. Why would he call you out at 3 am? You could've sworn he didn't think of you as close of friends as you thought of him.
"Do I need a reason?"
"Don't waste my time." Putting on a voice and squinting your eyes into a more grumpy appearance you mocked him, "Get to the point." You had even crossed your arms and scrunched up your nose for extra effect.
"I wAnT a fRieNd I cAn cAlL wHeNEvEr I WanT," he retorted back in a voice that could arguably be even worse than the one you had used a moment ago, "I wAnT tHeM tO bE cOmfOrTablE aRouNd mE."
"Yeah, but I didn't think you liked my company!" You exclaimed half laughing and half in disbelief at the disgusting imitation of you, "You didn't seem comfortable around me at all." You muttered
"...I'm-"
"Oh look!" Completely missing the beginning of his quiet confession you pointed at an illuminated sign, "A new takeout place has been opened. Almond toOofUu~" you sang out his favourite food with a small dance expectantly, knowing he adored that food.
Not intentionally, he scrunched up his nose a bit looking slightly annoyed, "we'll get that another time, I just wanted ice cream." Unintentionally the tone gave off the impression of an intended cold shoulder, but you didn't know whether to take it like that or understand he naturally talked like that.
"Here." Arriving at the convenience store, he held the door open for you to go in, to which you nodded a thanks and went straight to the ice cream aisle.
"Do you like mint chocolate?"
"Disgusting."
"Haha, ok, then classic vanilla?" He nodded at that suggestion, your mind still amused at the immediate retort of the flavour first suggested.
Turning to the self-service section you paid quickly and gave him the ice cream before exiting the store, "no, I didn't need you to buy-"
"Bye."
"Hey, get back here." Urgent to pay you back Xiao sped up in an attempt to catch up to you, obviously finding this funny you decided to speed up into a jog, before running back to the park in a full sprint.
The wind whipped against the bare of both your faces, the moon casting a light and the unconscious grin on the chaser's lips gentle and timid, but eager to break out of it's shell.
"Got you!" Underestimating the force he had exerted, he had tackled your body to the ground before you could make it to the swings, the grass acting like a thin cushion, though in the end not softening the blow.
Completely unprepared your breath rushed out of your lungs, more escaping than entering your them, but that didn't stop you choking out a boisterous laugh at the situation.
His stern gaze was completely void under the soft presence of the moon's silver lining. His eyes overcast with a gentle glow almost suggested he was mesmerised with the scene below him, the bright shine that even the sun couldn't reach him with.
"Did you really think you could outrun me?"
"No but it wouldn't have hurt to try." both of you completely oblivious to your close proximity, your eyes stuck to his and his to yours.
Was he supposed to say something? Were you supposed to say something? Was he supposed to do something? Were you? Well whatever he was supposed to do was nowhere to be found in his mind when starting at you.
"Hm?" Calming down, you waited for Xiao to speak, seemingly knowing he had something on his mind, "Get to the point" you quoted again, followed with your own words, "I won't judge. Tell me anything."
"Nothing."
'You're just really pretty'
The soft gaze the two of you held disappeared and you noticed a close off between him and you. He took a few steps back emotionally. Though he had already been two feet into this newfound friendship that had barely begun - he had failed to recognise so.
You inwardly frowned at his sudden retreat emotional wise, as he got up to sit beside you on the grass.
Smiling at him and his once again signature glare of annoyance at the ice cream tub you patted his shoulder, "I'm a bank. Deposit anything: stress, sadness, happiness, your hard to keep secrets and general complaints. They're all safe with me."
Hesitantly you spoke again, "I want to be there for you and that would require trust and strong friendship. I'm really ready to take the time you need to try and help you."
"When are you next free?"
"Tomorrow at 3am."
"Go home now," Nodding his head to you he stood up to walk in his own direction, "you better be here."
He had no idea what to say. So he just ended the conversation there. Unbothered by this you, once again, smiled at him, waving a goodbye.
It had stayed on his mind the entire next day and night he had met up again, and the entire week after. Even during the days he found himself spending more time with you.
Then the walls slowly began to crumble. He was vulnerable and relied on you. He soon truly began to trust you.
"Oh...I forgot to pay them back"

The Rundown
part i

him
“No time to lose, I have to run you through your situation and your purpose for being here.” The "person" said, not giving her enough time to question anything. He grabbed her arm and harshly pulled her away somewhere safe.
She was stunned by this person. He was tan and dressed in elegant dark clothing. His hair has such an iridescent glow, from her artistic eye, it suited him very much. If they were in any normal situation, she would swoon! She was a sucker for these looks.
But they weren't in any normal situation, more likely they were in danger. He led them inside a hollow tree. The tree big enough to house them both. She was smart enough to keep quiet when she heard the Hilichurls rumbling down their path and past their hideout.
Once the coast was clear, she immediately backed away from this beautiful stranger, unfortunately. 'Who are you and what is going on? How did I get here? And I sure know there wasn't any character from Genshin who looks like you!?' she whispered shouted.
'Unless they updated the game...' she added later on.
'You deserve every right for an answer.' the stranger started. 'I am Dantalion, a Great Duke and The Keeper of The Forbidden Library. Much like you, I am also an "outlander" as one would say'. Dantalion informed, dusting off his sleeves and readjusting them before continuing. 'Your situation might be unbelievable but we are inside Genshin. In Mondstadt to be exact−'
'Mondstadt?!'
'Yes, as I was saying. You are here for a reason. And a reason I am involved with. I excel at most things especially ambitions for me and my people. But my peers and I don't see eye to eye, so I decided to leave them for me to achieve my goals and desires. They're very boring and dull that they can't even perceive the sparkling future I am seeing through my eyes.'
She listened to him ramble on. It was quite a long introduction. He was sure full of himself, she thought. 'So, were you suspended from your position?' she concluded. Observing that he is so sure and seemingly arrogant, she was pretty sure his "peers" had enough of his obnoxiousness and other deeds worthy of this suspension.
Silence.
'I, wasn't, no that is not the case my dear. For I am a Great Duke! How dare they punish me?!' he raged, tone laced with venom. But he immediately composed himself and continued.
'Unfortunately they blocked all portals going in and out of this world. Basically we are stuck here, but I have devised a solution!' Dantalion conjured up a book, only its pages were missing. It was very elegant like himself. Golden edges and a crest in the middle of the dark cover. The crest was hollow and it seemed to indicate that there was something that belonged there in the first place.
'Document every elemental power, draw every powerful weapon, and the magic gathered in that book would be powerful enough to conjure a portal. You'll be back home, scot-free and I have another collection for my library and therefore, earning my redemption. What do you say? Its a pretty good deal if I say so myself.' He chuckled, mostly to himself.
She just sighed and kept quiet. Everything was going on so fast and questions piled up in her head every passing second. Any questions, uh, I'm sorry I haven't gotten your name yet?'
She was still admiring the covers of this cover when she was asked for her name. 'Oh, my name is−'
'Oh tut, not your real name. I already know.'
Then why'd you asked for my name?!
'It's also mundane and boring. How about I pick one for you?' boisterously speaking, Dantalion turned around. She was getting rather irritated by this man and looking defeated, she sighed. 'Alright then, what it'll be?'
Dantalion hummed and smiled and summoned yet another book. He flipped through its pages. The cover is pastel pink with green vines adorning it and instead of a hollowed crest on the middle, a flower was in its place.
' IRIS. That'll be the name you'll be using here.' He declared. She made a shrugging gesture, hinting that she would go with it. She kind of liked it, since she also agreed to his notion about her name. Plain and small, was what she thought.
'Now!' Dantalion slammed his book shut and it poofed out of existence. 'Any questions Iris? suggestions or violent reactions? I may be a Great Duke but I also value my companion's concerns.' he continued.
Even though she was info dumped by Dantalion, she caught on pretty fast. What must be done in haste but also questions lingered.
'But why specifically me?' she started her barrage of questions. 'My peers gave me a few options on who'll accompany me in this journey. I chose you since you seemed to be knowledgeable on the lore of this world.' He replied.
'And you're good with arts, which I am very proud of, so our job of documenting would be fairly easy!' Dantalion had this excited spark in his heterochromatic eyes.
'Me? Knowledgeable?' Iris scoffed. 'But I haven't even personally played the game yet. I'm pretty sure there are others who would be far more cultured about Genshin and have played the game.' She explained. Because, honestly!
'Dantalion, this is where your plan would inevitably fail. I only know snippets of this worlds lore and story. The players know more than I would. I may be good at art, but there are also players who are exceptional.' Iris proclaimed, hands crossed while looking up at him, his face contorted in realization.
'Say, did you really thought of your plan thoroughly?' Iris turned towards him. His face has darkened and his arms crossed. She could've sworn she saw a vein pop.
Dantalion sighed, his tense shoulders slumped and walked towards her.
'Look, they haven't given me much of a choice of what I should do to get back and who will accompany me.' He said truthfully, Iris thought that he was.
'You and I both don't want to spend another second in this world−'
'Oh, I don't mind actually.'
'I− what?'
'Yes, I don't really mind. I kind of think it as a... vacation from reality, you know? And I don't mind documenting for your "Forbidden Library."' she respondedadding air quotes. 'Feels like I'll be contributing something big.'
Dantalion was taken aback by Iris' eagerness and nonchalance. Earlier she was questioning every detail, and he bet she would ask for more later, about her being there with him.
But this caused Dantalion to smirk in amusement. 'You are quite interesting−'
Suddenly, they heard cracking and crushing of something. They both looked up and saw that their hideout had been pulled out of its roots and revealed themselves to their pursuers. They see the Hilichurls have recruited more of their kin and what's worse is, there's a Berserker amongst them.
'Run.'
