FNAF DCA QUESTIONNAIRE I decided to fill out for funsies. Link to the original is here.

1. How did you get here?

That is a great question. Honestly I feel like I stumbled ass first into this fandom and now I'm just kind of here to stay for a while.

2. Why these characters in particular? What was the hook for you?

I think the hook for me personally was the fact that the DCA is, in essence, a caretaker, which oddly enough called out to the inner child in me.

3. How long have you been here?

In this fandom specifically? Only a few months at this point.

4. Have you actually played FNAF sb?

Yes and it was a frustrating ordeal. I got lost multiple times because the map was absolutely useless and at times I got confused as to what my next objective was. But I did manage to eventually get to 6am.

5. If you make content what is your favorite piece you've contributed?

My favorite so far that I've contributed personally is my AO3 fic, The Daycare Attendant's Little Assistant, where you the reader are a kid who befriends the DCA. It takes place before the events of Security Breach and just has a lot of wholesome fun as well as some hurt/comfort.

6. What's your favorite sort of art or fic? What genre/flavor/style?

I love me some wholesome content. Give me all of the hurt/comfort and warm fuzzies.

7. What's your favorite au?

There is this one Cowboy Au that looks like a lot of fun. I believe it's by @castercassette .

8. Do you have any OCs, or have OCs that you are fond of?

This may be a little biased but I'm rather attached to my y/n from TDALA. They are just so grumpy and salty about life (for reasons) and they do not start off on the right foot with Sun and Moon at first.

9. What do you think of the dca's Canon appearance? Scary? Cute? Something else?

I know I'm probably in the minority on this but I absolutely love Sun and Moon's canonical appearance. It's the perfect blend of creepy and whimsical, a combination I enjoy playing with when writing them.

10. What keeps you in this fandom despite the small amount of Canon content the DCA had?

A combination of things. One of which being the there are a lot of fun and awesome people I've met through this fandom in just the short time that I've been here, but there's also a lot of fun and creative stuff to he had here. And there are no shortages of lore and theories revolving around these two.

11. Be honest: if you had to pick only one, sun or moon?

I cannot put into words how much I hate being asked this. But fine, gun to my head I would probably pick Sun because he's the one least likely to kill me.

12. Thoughts on eclipse?

Again, I feel like I'm in the minority on this when I say that I really don't have strong feelings towards Eclipse. Cool concept, the art surrounding him is pretty neat, but that's about it.

13. Thoughts on pre-glitch sun?

So many. And the fun part is I get to explore them in my fic. Before the glitch, Sun is a lot more put together. He still has his overly zealous tendencies but a lot less of the anxiety and clingyness we see in game.

14. Thoughts on pre-glitch Moon?

Another fun concept that gets explored in my story. Moon has always been a bit of a gremlin, but he plays into it for fun. He's fully aware that kids find him slightly more unsettling than Sun but he tries not to let it bother him and instead uses that to his advantage.

15. Do you interpret sun and moon as two sides of the same person, or truly two separate beings in one body? Does it matter?

Oh I absolutely believe that Sun and Moon are two different personalities in one body and good luck trying to convince me otherwise. I don't know, I just think it's more fun that way.

16. What's something in the fandom you like to see more of?

I always love seeing new theories, not just about the DCA but security breach as a whole. The FNAF franchise is fun but dang do they just love to leave things vague and leave it to the fans to pick apart everything.

17. What's something in the fandom you'd like to see less of?

NSFW content. This is merely a personal preference and no judgment to those who do enjoy it.

18. Anything you're looking forward to?

The DLC as well as the upcoming series of books featuring The Pizza Plex.

19. Do you think you'd actually get along with the DCA if you met them irl?

Oh, absolutely. I would probably have to take Sun in small doses because I'm just eternally tired, although who knows maybe he could just spot me a few Sundrop candies and I'd be fine. And if Moon is willing to help me sleep (like just night time sleep and not the eternal kind) then we'll be best friends forever.

20. Free space! Talk about whatever is on your mind!

I'm really glad I joined this fandom. I've been having a lot of fun so far and it's gotten me back into writing and drawing two things that I both agonize over and find a lot of joy and comfort in. I hope to make more friends and fun times while I'm here.

7. What’s your favorite au?

oooh there are so many good oooooones. but man. i think i’m pretty basic - i LOVE just, any mermay/mermaid/siren au i come across. like i cannot get ENOUGH OF IT. it’s actually what i have a fic in the works for wbehsjdksk tho i haven’t touched it in….a HOT bit;;; been doing more art than writing ^^;;

tbh first time i saw them i was like. i hate this with every fiber of my being. mostly because i somehow foRgOT that fnaf was like, you know, a horror game?????? ahdhsjsk

but now i look at them and i’m like!!! SCRUNKLY!!!!! like tbh the more i see biblically accurate sun and moon the fonder of them i am. i think i DO prefer biblically accurate sun, tho, because with no pupils his eyes look a lil bigger? poor moon’s tiny dot eyes 😔

11. be honest: if you had to pick only one, sun or moon?

hhhh;;;; listen. listen i love them both. so fuckin much. but i would pick moon;;;; like, i think i would absolutely not survive the encounter especially if it’s more like canon moon. but i’m not making this decision with logic i’m making it with my heart. and that’s my fuckin blorbo <3

12. thoughts on eclipse?

I LOVE HIM AAAAAH

so when i first got into the dca stuff, i didn’t really care about eclipse at all. i was like “oh those are some cool designs, the idea of sun n moon becoming eclipse is kinda neat” but he was just kinda. There. to me

but tHEN i found all these wonderful aus, and fics, and art, and also finally designed my own version of him for funsies, and like!!! fUCK!!! i love him so much he is just a feral little scrunkly that makes me heart flutter <3

i DO want to spend some time actually figuring out how my eclipse like, acts?? i think he’s very feral. just a little gremlin of a man. we’ll see how it goes :D

AO3 Question Tag Game

Shamelessly stolen from @bamsara because I have some time to spare right now and this sounds fun. Not tagging anyone, if you wanna do this too, consider yourselves tagged. I'm tagging you!

1 – How many works do you have on AO3?

As of right now, only 3. I deleted a bunch of them and one has been orphaned.

2 – What's your total AO3 word count?

423,837. The fic that I orphaned a few months ago would've doubled that.

3 – What fandoms do you write for?

Right now, Fnaf. I have also written for Assassin's Creed, Cyberpunk 2077, MCU, DBZ, Dragon Age and The Walking Dead.

4 – What are your top five fics by kudos?

Skip.

5 – Do you respond to comments?

99% of the time, yes. I do forget sometimes but I really wanna show my appreciation to those who take the time to leave a comment by responding and thanking them.

6 – What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Skip, I don't do angsty endings. Angsty stories, absolutely, but the ending has gotta be a happy one.

7 – What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Well considering I've never actually finished a fic this is hard to answer, but for plenty of them I do have endings figured out. Makes it hard to talk about it due to spoilers and what-not.

8 – Do you get hate on fics?

Yeah it's happened. I delete their comments, block 'm and go on with my day, happy in the knowledge that while I'm not perfect, at least I'm not a pathetic troll hiding behind anonymity to make myself feel better ^-^

9 – Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I used to write a lot of smut, always m/m. It's fairly rare for me to write nowadays but I'm not ruling it out.

10 – Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

None of them have really been all that crazy, some crossovers work out surprisingly well! I love it when they do.

11 – Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Yup.

12 – Have you ever had a fic translated?

Also yup. Most of the time the person behind it asked for permission so I was cool with it, but I've also found a translation or two of that one orphaned fic that was done without my knowing about it.

13 – Have you ever co-written a fic?

All of my work is co-written (with the exception of one CP2077 one-shot and my current DCA AUs). I am big on one-on-one fandom RP, I love building a story with someone else and have our characters interact. It's one of my favorite things to do. Still hoping to find a someone to write DCA stories with one day.

14 – What's your all-time favorite ship?

Impossible to answer.

15 – What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

... all of them.

16 – What are your writing strengths?

Dialogue, both spoken dialogue as well as a character's inner thoughts. Also action/fighting scenes.

17 – What are your writing weaknesses?

Describing surroundings and appearances.

18 – Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Again the orphaned fic, it had a lot of characters from different countries so while everyone spoke English, those characters did tend to slip every so often. Mostly French and Italian, all done through google translate because I don't speak either lol.

And in most of the DBZ fics I used a fan-made language for saiyans that I borrowed words from.

19 – First fandom you wrote for?

Medabots. This was like... 2001 or something, I finally got access to internet around that time and the first online friend I made I also started writing stories with. Medabots was one of the most popular anime on tv in that time so yeah.

20 – Favorite fic you've written?

Uh... again that's gotta be the orphaned fic. It's certainly the biggest I've ever (co) written and it was a ton of fun as well as the most popular fic I've ever written. And the longest too! At one point in time it was the second longest fic in the entire Assassin's Creed section on AO3. Good times.

Something I just kind of realized. So I have like a taller average and a shorter average for my lunars. Shorter averages anywhere between like 5 and 7 ft. My larger average is between 7 and like 9 ft. All my other characters were drawn on the size chart. Which I honestly regret and will never do again. There is so much detail loss.

But anyways, I was trying to figure out the size of Honey and Cider. Cider is supposed to be big. Like really really tall. There's a reason his size is so disproportionate next to honey. Honey is supposed to be on the shorter average. Now using wizard and Butler as a close enough visual average. Btw I didn't realize Butler was like 12 ft and a half tall. He's a tall sucker and I didn't even notice. I never actually had set sizes for a cruel copy. I just kind of put them in here as I assumed their sizes. So I'm going have to like, Go through all my sizes properly and figure out what is my actual average. Since I try to keep the DCAs at around 10 ft.

Anyways, I wanted honey to be just taller than wizard. Not by much, but just kind of to indicate age in a weird robot way. While this makes Honey about 7 ft tall. This makes Cider, going off of Butler's height, 13 ft tall...

That was not the plan.

I am in a serious need to go through my size chart and fix a whole bunch of stuff. No I'm not saying I want to change RBB. RBB is where I want it. I thought about the sizes. But cruel copy, I did not. I put them on the screen as I kind of averaged them out to do. There was no other baseline, other than the fact that Sun and Moon had to be 10 ft tall. But unfortunately, The entirety of that crew I've always viewed as short. They're supposed to be drastically shorter next to everyone. Not exactly mad cat 6 ft tall, but short. I almost say I want to have Butler be around a similar size to Black Star or even Sun and Moon.

This might be an easy to solve problem, where I just make Butler in a couple others shorter. But it also might be a big project. And Blue Moon might have to be bumped up to 15 ft, just so the others can stay at a relatively same size.

When I was trying to imagine what I wanted cider size to be. I figured he might be 12 ft tall. Was going for 11 and a half ft. I did not plan on making him 13 ft tall. I thought he and Butler were going to be the same size. With cider just being a little bit taller. The lip Butler being 12 and a half. 12 and 1/2, Butler is 12 and 1/2. And I thought he was 11 and a half. I'm going to have to go through my sizes either way. Because that is wrong. Butler should really not be that tall. The entirety of cruel copy shouldn't even be getting to that height, not with how I visually imagine them.

This might be a whole problem.

Warning: almost every answer is a ramble

How did you get here?

As I've mentioned before, (I'm like a broken record and just repeat myself I'm sorry) I was dragged in by force through exposure. When I like an author, I look at the things they bookmark because a lot of the time I end up liking the same things they do. There were several utmv authors with sun and moon fics and I didn't know who they were but I got curious and clicked. I found a cursed one that I could tell was leading to an almost abusive relationship with y/n and got scared away but eventually got curious enough to look back into them.

2. Why these characters in particular?

Family is something really important to me so that often reflects on my favorite characters. I've always loved cheerful and yellow/blonde characters which is oddly specific but, eh. Recently, I discovered my favorite trope is sun and moon dynamic twins (Dream and Nightmare, Sun and Moon)

3. How long have you been here?

I think it was sometime in August. I'm pretty new to this fandom but I know almost everything there is to know now.

4. Have you actually played FNAF sb?

I have not. I have never played video games other than mario kart or things like snake. I did look into it and Undertale and I discovered you have to pay $10-15 for Undertale but couldn't find any information about FNAF sb and figured it would be something similar and I am not willing to pay money to play.

5. If you make content, what is your favorite piece you've contributed?

Fic wise I really love my very first utmv fic. I think it's pretty well thought out and I can't think of any plot holes. I haven't made an FNAF fic yet but I'm planning on doing so eventually. I love all of my art (except for my weird frog ones please ignore most of those) pretty equally but my Sun one makes me really happy. I also like my most recent Dream one because I discovered an easier way to do digital art and will be able to do thinner line art.

6. What's your favorite sort of art or fic? What genre/flavor/style?

I love really angsty fics but only for my main comfort character (I project onto him) Any other time, I love stories that have an adventure to it. Plot twists and unique au's are wonderful. I will not read smutty fics and suggestive stuff is avoided as much as possible. If I can find platonic fics, than that's ideal but I will read romance as long as its SFW.

7. What's your favorite au?

I've really loved the cryptid au. There is a lot of cool fics and art for it and it's really fun. I also love after fire fics, those are really angsty.

8. Do you have any OCs, or have OCs that you are particularly fond of?

I have 1 oc that I will never do anything with. Her name is either Cam or Hali, I never decided. She has a circle face (probably a mask) with one half as a smiley face and the other a frowny face.

9. What do you think of the dca's Canon appearance? Scary? Cute? Something else?

I don't think they're that bad honestly. I would be scared of them as a kid but I think they're cute. They have a hint of ugly but it's a cute ugly.

10. What keeps you in this fandom despite the small amount of Canon content the DCA had?

I love seeing them as brothers and the interaction between them. That is why i read their fics in the first place, purely for that brotherly love. The main thing keeping me here are the people on tumblr. I have been so welcomed and made a surprising amount of friends on here. I love having a group of mutuals on here that talk about stupid things like what temperature water should be consumed at and supporting art and fics and just having fun loving the same characters.

11. Be honest: if you had to pick only one, sun or moon?

Honestly, I would probably pick Sun. I am really drawn to cheerful characters though Moon is absolutely wonderful. (Also don't want death rn so...)

12. Thoughts on eclipse?

He's a very mysterious guy. It really depends on interpretation, even more than Sun and Moon. I personally think he might be connected to afton in some way because of the amount of importance arcade games have in sb with princess quest and all. I think he is either the key to releasing moon from the virus or the thing keeping him trapped.

13. Thoughts on pre-glitch sun?

I think he'd be a lot more chill. Still very cheerful and probably very talkative. Sun seemed really scared and hysterical and almost manic in game. I think he would still be eccentric just a lot more carefree and content. He would probably be bashful and oblivious as well.

14. Thoughts on pre-glitch moon?

I think he'd be very gentle and sweet with kids and then be his gremlin self with Sun, the glamrocks, and the employees. I like to think he'd be very protective of Sun and really clever. I think he would act really smug to be funny and would be very sassy.

15. Do you interpret sun and moon as two sides of the same person, or truly two separate beings in one body? Does it matter?

It's very important to me that they are two separate people. I refuse to read anything longer than a one shot where they aren't brothers or at least best friends. It just makes me sad and not in the delicious satisfying way that angst does but an uncomfortable/unsettled naggy way. It's fine with one shots but if they aren't close by the end, it will not take up my time or emotions.

16. What's something in the fandom you like to see more of?

Just brotherly moments between Sun and Moon (*cough* broken record *cough*)

17. What's something in the fandom you'd like to see less of?

Shipping them together and smutty/suggestive things. It's just not my jam

18. Anything you're looking forward to?

Not that I can think of

19. Do you think you'd actually get along with the DCA if you met them irl?

I think I would think they were really cool but would probably be too shy to talk to them unless they initiated it first.

I've been thinking a lot about how much I've changed in the past few years. For example, I thought contacts were the creepiest thing and now I have and love them. Fandom wise, my journey with fnaf. My first time hearing about it I was around 10-11. I was at a sleepover with my cousins and my cousin told me about it when they threw out a toy or something from their little brother. It scared me so much I had panic attack and was crying and shaking. I didn't even know that the animatronics were possessed by murdered children. Now here I am reading this stuff with a straight face or even a slightly evil laugh.

1. How did you get here?

I’ve been following @bamsara for a while now for his Invader Zim art and fic (I cycle through hyperfixations and Zim has been one of them since middle school) and saw some of their art on Sun and Moon. I thought they looked like interesting characters. Then I learned they were from FNAF and I went to my sister who has played some of the games with her friend and asked her about the series. Honestly, I hadn’t really been into the games before this because I never had a taste for horror games in the past. Just hadn’t been my cup of tea. I still need to take breaks when playing the games because they take a mental toll haha. After playing the first game almost all the way through (still haven’t completed 20/20/20/20) I looked more into the series, as I often do with hyperfixations, so I could know everything about it. So yeah, basically I blame Bam and my sister for this.

7. What's your favorite au?

Hmm… I’m not sure. There are so many good ones out there! @bones-of-a-rabbit comes up with some amazing aus like their Afton au and Flipparoo au I recommend checking out. Celestial Omens is another one I really like (merfolk have always been a favorite creature of mine). I’ve created my own fantasy au I’m working on as well.

12. Thoughts on eclipse?

I love love LOVE the idea of eclipse! He is a character that has so much potential! I love how everyone has a different take on him in general as well. In my fic, Eclipse is going to show up at a rather tense moment of Sun trying to protect reader from virus!Moon. I write him as glitchy because both Sun and Moon are fighting for control. I might use him for fluffy moments too in the flashbacks, but I’m not sure yet.

957,125. Oh heck guys that's not too far off from a truly staggering number that I can't process XD

3. how many fandoms have you written for and what are they?

Um...thirteen, if you take out the duplicates. In order of content, it's Homestuck, Good Omens, Dice Camera Action, The Adventure Zone, Avatar: Legend of Korra, Twilight, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Powerpuff Girls, Red vs Blue, Sherlock BBC, Avengers, Pokemon Sun and Moon, and Harry Potter. Mind, this is just what's posted on AO3...though even the stuff that's not on AO3 and never will be is mostly here. I think there's some various anime fandoms that got some stuff. Maybe some Phineas and Ferb, some Kick Buttowski.

I try to! Don't always succeed or have the spoons, but especially sweet or thoughtful comments I try to give some semblance of response to. I cherish every single comment, even if I don't always respond.

6. what’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

Ha. Um. Probably "Ashes", a Twilight fic from Marcus' point of view about losing Didyme. Entirely canon-compliant and canon-driven, which is probably why it ends so sadly. If we're talking off AO3, I'd have to go digging and I have no such time.

7. do you write crossovers?

No, not really; I've done it by very special occasional request. Of course, you have to define a crossover these days, bc to me, a crossover is shoving two fandoms in the same space and making them interact with each other, but some people tag their AU fanfics as crossovers when it's just "insert characters from fandom A into world of fandom B" and that's...not a crossover. That's an AU. Regardless: no. I don't write these.

8. have you ever received hate on a fic?

Kinda? Had one comment where someone said "i am going to kill you" and that's it so I had no context for if it was a playful jest or a statement of intent and I reacted as if it were the second XD (Also had one fic where the story didn't turn out how a reader was expecting and my collaborator and I knew from their comments that they probably weren't going to like what was coming up and they didn't, and there was some small bit of friction over it, but that wasn't really hate.)

9. do you write smut? if so, what kind?

No.

10. have you ever had a fic stolen?

I had someone post a fic from forums/deviantART to FFN because I was young and thought I needed parental permission to make an FFN account (which I did not have, dad said no) and I had a reader who insisted the FFN crowd needed to read it and started posting it without my permission, but they didn't say it was mine until the author's note at the very end of the last chapter; at that point I finally had made an FFN account on my own and tried to insist the poster take it down since I was there now and could post it myself but they didn't reply. I reported it on FFN but nothing was ever done about it and the poster never replied to my messages. Far as I know it might still be there and I'm resigned to it.

Oh yeah, all the time now!

13. what’s your all-time favorite ship?

Oh boy. Coming from a veteran shipper, this is quite the question. Naruto/Hinata (from Naruto) and Toph/Sokka (from Avatar: The Last Airbender) were my first big OTPs and I will always love them and have a special place in my heart for them. But I don't know if I can pick a FAVORITE. All my ships are precious.

14. whats a wip that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

I wish I could have finished Broken Crowns and its prequel (and maybe the possible sequel I was toying with). That was a fun experiment in flying by the seat of my pants, and the first thing I've ever written that was so big it broke Spellcheck, but ultimately falling out of the Homestuck fandom and losing interest in the project were the death of it. I'm glad I was able to provide a "here's where this was going" chapter, at least, so many fics that fall by the wayside don't get that and it's such a great thing to do for readers.

15. what are your writing strengths?

I think I'm best at character voices and dialogue, and maybe the occasional witty turn of phrase. Also technical polish; sure, my plots are contrived and the characterization might be dodgy but by gum at least my commas are mostly in the right spots and everything is spelled correctly XD (Given that as a reader grammatical errors are what throw me off and distract and irritate me most, I think my own writing evolved to not distract myself with that, at least.)

16. what are your writing weaknesses?

Oh, boy. Settings, I think. Describing settings. And finishing long-form work that's in any way original. Long fic based off another story/movie/whatever? Easy peasy, got an outline all ready to go and tailor-made. Long fic based off my own random ideas? Um...help??

17. what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?

Since I only know one of them, I am scared stiff to try it XD Google translate can only take you so far.

18. what was the first fandom you ever wrote for?

Very, very first? Probably either Disney or Luigi's Mansion. Published on the internet? Harry Potter.

19. what’s your favorite fic you’ve ever written?

Oh, gosh. I have such love in my heart for many of my own works, which is pleasant and comforting and a nice change from visceral self-loathing, but if I had to pick a few (because heck no I can't just pick one)...the Sherlockbound series I wrote for Homestuck, "i have loved the stars too fondly" for The Adventure Zone: Balance, Suboptimal Omens for DCA, and probably a million oneshots along the way that have helped me work things out and figure myself out as an artist and as a person.

1~ What quality do you value most highly in others? Understanding and openminded people.

2~ Are you more aggressive or mellow? “They call her mellow yellow.” I likely come off to others as being chill, laid back, go with the flow kind of gal. However, you know that meme of the dog sitting there with coffee and there’s a fire going on around him and it’s just like, “this is fine”? That’s me. I’m screaming internally. I’m a very moody, irritable person. I get snippy and pissy. I get frustrated. I get stressed and overwhelmed. My close ones wouldn’t call me laid back, ha. I’m not aggressive, though. I can also be easy going in situations like deciding where to eat, what game to play, what movie to watch, what to do, things like that. I can go with the flow in those situations or like while on vacation.

3~ Who has made the biggest sacrifice for you? My mom most definitely has.

4~ Do you take any vitamins or medication? I use iron patches and take pain medication. I’m supposed to be taking more vitamins, though. I need to get like a B12, Vitamin D, and calcium patch. I wish they had protein patches.

5~ Do you want to grow old with someone? I don’t want to be alone in final years. Let’s not think about that stuff right now.

6~ Do you treat others better or worse than yourself and why? I have a good amount skepticism, I think. I’m not too trusting of others.

7~ What sound is annoying you right now? Nothing at the moment, I’m listening to an ASMR video so all I hear are nice sounds.

8~ Where was your last vacation to? Disneylanddddd. A week ago today was our first day there I can’t believe it’s been a week already.

9~ Where was your last car ride to? Home from the airport.

10~ Where did you last walk to? Well, not walk, but I wheeled all over Disneyland and the other park across from it (DCA). I’m still feeling it. My arms are killing me.

My family provides everything and does a LOT for me. Way more than they should for a 30 year old grown ass adult. I don’t have a lot to give, but I try when I can.

21~ Do you buy holiday gifts early or at the last minute? I wish I did start earlier instead of putting it off last minute. It wouldn’t hit me as hard financially if I did.

24~ What is the dirtiest habit you can think of? Uhh.

26~ Do you think it is harder for a parent to outlive their child or for the child to outlive their parent? It’s the natural order of things for the child to outlive the parent. That’s not always the case of course, but that’s how it generally goes.

27~ What was your best find from a flea market, garage sale, ebay or thrift store? I find many things on Ebay. I like to shop on there for Christmas because I can find new things at a lower price for a lot of things.

28~ What is one selfish thing you tend to do? I’ve become more selfish these past few years. :/

29~ What kinds of people do you find intimidating? Outgoing, outspoken, boss type people.

30~ Out of everyone you know who has the most unique personality? Probably my brother.

Rise of the Resistance Boarding Group Advice (from someone who actually rode it)

I recently rode Rise of the Resistance, the new ride at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, in Disneyland. This new ride has been highly anticipated, and to accommodate the crowds, Disney and created a “boarding group” system, unlike anything they’ve used before. I wanted to share what I have learned by trying to get a boarding pass myself over the course of two days, and what I gathered from friends experiences, in hopes that this may help someone either understand the system better, or hopefully get a boarding pass/ group of their own, and experience the best ride I’ve ever experienced. (This post is about the system in Disneyland, and from what I can tell it might be similar to the WDW version, but I cannot confirm)

WHAT YOU NEED

a smart phone

the Disneyland app

a Disney account to sign into the app

a valid park ticket

all of the tickets of the people in your party to be scanned into the Disneyland app (and this would apply to every person present.) i.e if you have four people in your party, all four tickets should be on everyones phones, in their app

you NEED to be in the park before the park opens for business that day to the public. i.e: if the park opens at 9am, be in the gates before 9am

ADVICE

make sure your phone is charged of course. not only do you need it to get a boarding pass, but you also scan your boarding pass when getting in line for the ride, so you need it accessible.

plan ahead for when you need to leave to be able to get into the park. the entirety of the in between space between DCA and Disneyland (aka the esplanade) was filled with lines to get into the park both days that I went.

do NOT use the park wifi. It’s bad to begin with, but now everyone is going to be on the network, or at least trying to be.

when preparing for the time for the boarding groups to “drop” aka park open, make sure you have completely closed out of the Disneyland app, and opened it “fresh” about 2 minutes before park open, and just remain on the opening screen. do not go further into the app in order to prevent having to refresh the app, or close it out again.

make sure everyone in your party is attempting to get a boarding pass right when it “drops”. the more people in your party, all working towards getting a boarding group, the better off you may be. more hands on deck, more phones, different networks, just a better chance.

once the clock strikes the time of park open, that will be your time to hit the “Find Out More” on the Disneyland app section for Rise, then you’ll hit “Join Boarding Group”, from there it will already have every ticket on your app checked to be added into your group, and continue to follow the prompts to hopefully get you to the screen that says you have received a boarding group.

THINGS WE “KNOW”

Disney has said that they can accommodate 8-12 boarding groups per hour, as long as the ride is in proper operation aka it doesn’t break down.

I have yet to be able to find out how many people are in a boarding group, or how many parties for that matter, however, I had two different friends who got boarding passes with their friends, and both groups were about 6-8 people. to clarify these friends were there different days, and got different boarding groups.

the time you arrive to the park DOES NOT affect your boarding group placement. As long as you are in the gates before the park is officially open for business, you have the same chance as everyone else for a boarding group.

you have to scan into Disneyland, not Disney California Adventure, to be able to get a boarding group

the boarding groups have been “selling out” or “running out” within the first minute to two minutes of the park opening. The only time I have heard it taking more than a minute was on Wednesday 1/22/20, where it took 55 minutes to distribute all boarding groups. According to cast members I have spoken to, Wednesday’s are the “slow” and “dead” day at Disneyland, so maybe that had something to do with it.

You are not guaranteed to ride the ride. If something goes down with the ride, and they cannot accommodate you, even if you are considered to be in one of the “planned” groups for the day, things can still change.

The number seems to change as to what is considered a planned group, and when the cap of the planned group is, versus the unplanned. typically it has been groups 70 or higher.

The ride DOES NOT continue to run until park close. If they get to the end of their boarding groups before park close, they will not add more people. At some point, they decide what the final group will be, and the only way you know what that number is, is to go to the entrance of the ride, and see if there is a cast member will be standing outside with a sign that says that final group, about 2+ hours before the park closes.

THINGS TO REMEMBER/KEEP IN MIND

just as you probably wanted to be surprised for this ride, consider not posting spoilers or ride throughs of the ride, or at least warning your followers and friends before doing do. keep the magic alive and fresh for everyone.

there are warnings on the walls closer to the ride entrance that warn you of fast drops, and fast movement. if you cant handle a carousel, this might not be the ride for you.

please be understanding that just as this ride is new to you, its new to the cast members (who keep in mind, did not build it) so if there are issues, be kind.

YOU ARE NOT GUARANTEED TO RIDE THIS RIDE. if you are in the “back up” range, so for the day I actually rode it, the backup groups were anything 72 and above, so that is a big maybe if you get in that range. Even with a boarding pass, things can change. Be understanding.

YOU MIGHT NOT GET A BOARDING GROUP/PASS. There are hundreds, and maybe thousands of people who are trying to do the same as you. Just be warned.

All of the things in this post are from my experience as an annual pass holder/ guest and from my friends experiences as AP’s or guests only. All opinions and comments are my own.

The first time I went to get boarding passes, the park opened at 8 am, I got into the park at about 7:30, and had an issue with my app because I already had it loaded on the ROTR page at 8, so it didn’t refresh, so by the time I finally got it to work, I ended up getting boarding group 121, which was in the range of the “back up” boarding groups. That day the backups started at group 80, meaning anything past 79 was not a guarantee for the day, even though you had a group. The idea is that if they get through their groups fast enough, or sooner than expected, they will start letting in the backup groups. However something I learned that night, like I mentioned above, was that they choose a while before the park closes what the last group will be, as well as the fact that they don’t run until park close. So no Rise for me that night. The next day the park opened at 9, I was in there at about 8:30 ish, and this time I had four friends with me. Learning from my previous issues with the app, thanks to screen recording my first experience and watching it back, I made sure to have the app completely closed out, all my friends had theirs closed out to, but loaded it to at least to the first screen, the one just when the app first opens. That turned out to be beneficial because when the clock struck 9, my friend was able to get us a boarding group, and my phone got to the page about two or three seconds after he did, but it already registered that we had a boarding group! That day we were lucky enough to get boarding group 15 and road the ride around 10 or so and W O W. That’s all I will say 😉

So have you read that update on that stulid petition? It's some interesting "insider info" Idk I'm pretty sure its all BS but idk idk idk

I hadn't but I looked it up, read through and here are my thoughts on it (I actually made notes on paper). You might want to grab and snack and a drink because this is a long one.

1. Anyone can claim to be a friend of Holly or Jared. Nothing written here has any evidence to support it. If they know Holly and talk to her online I'd assume that they'd have shared at least a few written conversations. They also claim to have known and sent nudes to Jared. I don't want screenshots of nudes but conversations. Where is evidence?

2. Bringing up Holly's mental health wasn't needed, it was probably for sympathy and did they even have her permission to talk about this (if they do know her)(Also same thing about Jared's mental health. More on that later)?

3. I get that Ross wants to stay out of this, more on that in a moment, but if what Heidi has said is completely false and he and Holly had an open relationship, and he and Holly split on any kind of decent terms, and Ross had been mad at Heidi for stopping Holly and Jared's relationship (which yeah, he's mad because his wife isn't fucking another man, makes sense(!)), and for yelling at Holly, then why would he remain silent on everything and let Holly take the heat?

4. Ross wants to be left out of this. They shouldn't be giving out all this information. Say he was aware of Holly and Jared's relationship (though I have my doubts) and that he and Holly were poly (things already stated by people involved in this situation) but any other alleged relationships he was in aren't the public's business.

5. Oh, and we're claiming that Ross and Holly's marriage was toxic for Holly now? I'm gonna be honest Ross is the only person in this situation I still really trust and respect so if he turns out to be not so great I don't know what I'm gonna do, but that's besides the point. Holly and Ross' marriage wasn't the healthiest? Well no shit if she was off telling another man she only had feelings for him and that he had awakened sexual feelings in her she'd never felt before. Shit like that is making me question if she ever actually had feelings for Ross.

6. Also, can we just acknowledge the fact that the person (I'm guessing creator of the petition) asking about the situation pushes the narrative they want and the other person just agrees with what they say? Seems sketchy to me...

7. Why would Ross be mad at Jared for being a good partner and stopping a relationship his wife wasn't comfortable with? I feel like Ross is reasonable enough and would understand (like yeah he may be a little insulted because that's his wife but he must have seen how close she and Jared were and would understand feeling weird about it). Even if he didn't, wouldn't he be mad at Heidi? If this is the truth (which I doubt) then the four of them should have sat down and talked about ground rules and just communicated more. Clearly none of them are cut out for being poly. And again, if Ross was mad at Heidi and not a fan of her see point 3.

8. The whole shit with Heidi and Cristina is speculation. Nothing said is factual, it's just what they 'believe'. Just because Cristina said a few things about Holly and she and Heidi reply to each other occasionally does not mean Heidi had a big scheme. Nate and Cristina broke up a while ago and I haven't seen Cristina and Heidi interact until recently. And even if they did talk they would have known each other through Nate and Jared working together. Unless we get evidence for this claim I'm not going to entertain this idea further.

9. Holly showed a sexual conversation Jared and Heidi had about Heidi's partner. The fact that their relationship was sexual isn't news. Also we don't know when Jared and Heidi stopped being poly. We know that Heidi wanted Jared to end his relationship with Holly because she made Heidi uncomfortable. I seem to remember Heidi even stated that she was fine with Jared pursuing someone else who wasn't Holly and then later they stopped being poly.

10. Heidi said Jared used the fact that he made more money over her. She also said that she and Jared had been together before Jared got big on YouTube. So claiming she was with him for money seems strange to me. Also, maybe not the wisest thing to bring up when Holly has brought up money struggles and when Ross was doing Grumps (and Holly's channel money went to her grandfather's healthcare) she was making less money than Ross so anyone could claim she stayed with Ross for money. See how easy it is to make claims? And this whole idea that she tried to isolate Jared and didn't let him 'have a life outside of her' doesn't seem believable when he had Normal Boots (talking about the guys not just the newish channel) and DCA. They claim she tried to isolate him when Jared clearly had many friends and was far from isolated.

10. They say Heidi 'ransacked' his house; Heidi says she went back to get some stuff she'd left because she had to move out quickly and Jared was out of town at the time. Holly tried to make it seem like Heidi wanted to go back and therefore she clearly wasn't abused. Who knows at this point? All that's for sure is Holly's claim was disgusting.

11. If Jared was so scared of Heidi, why did he make a statement about the divorce knowing that she'd she it even if he blocked her? Heidi said she wasn't going to say anything until she saw his statement and that he blocked her. It's funny to think that this wouldn't be happening if Jared had left it alone or just said they were getting a divorce and wanted to deal with it in private. Holly not responding about how she'd be there to suck his dick if she needed him would have helped too.

12. Just because you had a good experience with Jared doesn't mean everyone did. If someone jumped of a building and somehow ended up being completely fine after that doesn't automatically mean it's safe to jump off of buildings. Your personal experience doesn't not equal everyone's experience. I don't care if this helped you (which by the way just seems like a way of being like 'Jared helped me, he can't be a bad person because he helped me'). It was an abuse of power when he solicited nudes from his fans and minors may have been involved.

13. Mentioning Jared's mental health as a way to gain sympathy. Also, mental health is not an excuse. It can be an explanation, but if you do something that is harmful, especially to others, then you address it and get help. If you engage in risky behaviour then you get help. Jared could give his phone to someone else to stop him sexting people when depressed and fine other ways to distract himself. Additionally, to backtrack slightly, if you know that you are doing something that hurts others and don't try to stop; don't get help, then you are being abusive because you know what you're doing isn't right but you aren't trying to stop (this is more about Holly's behaviour in terms or harming others but Jared knew the risks he was taking in terms of minors possibly being involved and should have gotten help).

14. And lastly, let's go back to the fact that this person claims to be Holly's friend. Holly, who has proven many times how manipulative she can be; who has been called out for her toxic behaviour and lying. So can we trust a friend of Holly's? No. Not just because they may have false information but because they're biased anyway due to being her friend. Also, you know who else is a friend of Holly's? Her previous buisness partner who helped scam a cancer survivor. So yeah... I don't trust friends of Holly's.

None of you asked for this, but y’all probably know as someone who grew up in SoCal, I am keenly defensive of our coast’s disney park. As such, here is my official ranking of which rides are better at which parks:

1. Pirates of the Caribbean: Winner- Disneyland. Look, I’m going to say this a lot, but ours is the original and the best. The theming of the queue and load/unload area is better, the bayou scene is better, we have the Blue bayou restaurant and we have two drops. We’re better. Plus, the ride’s outside facade and the placement in New Orleans square is more thematic and special than it is in WDW.

2. Haunted Mansion: Winner- Disneyland. This is actually a tough one, but I think the facade and queue are more thematic on the west coast. It’s more enclosed and run down, and other than the occasional screams from nearby Splash Mountain, it’s pretty spooky. The Florida queue is too open and sunny for my tastes. And as fun as the interactive tombs are in the Florida queue, it’s almost too goofy. Florida does have two additional scenes than the Cali one, but they don’t add much. Plus, we have the cool portrait gallery in Cali that again, adds to the atmosphere.

3. Jungle Cruise: Winner- Magic Kingdom. This was tough as I’m not particularly attached to the ride itself and I’ve only ridden the WDW version once, but the inclusion of the temple scene really adds to the ride. Queue-wise, I want to say I Iike Cali’s better, but really as long as they both have the old timey radio spiel, we’re good.

4. Splash Mountain: Winner- Disneyland. I’m not sure what it is exactly that I Iike more about ours, but I think it’s better. Our ride feels like it has more animatronic characters, larger show scenes, an additional song (the one the possum? Sings to the kids on the way up the lift hill) and you aren’t outside for too long after the big drop. Florida has the cool jumping Br’er rabbit figure but the laughing place scene isn’t nearly as terrifying and chaotic in Florida as it is in Anaheim’s.

5. Big Thunder: Winner- Disneyland. I don’t know if Florida’s has been redone with the new finale like ours has, but I think ours is better because it’s been redone and “plused” with the new finale, which is way more fun than the shaking walls of the old scene.

6. Space Mountain: Winner- Magic Kingdom. Look, I don’t exactly keep quiet about how underwhelmed I am by our space mountain. I def don’t think it’s worth it unless you can walk right on. But that being said, I like the track layout and vehicle better in Florida. I recently learned that they took the Matterhorn track layout and put in Florida and made it space. So that’s probably why I like it more, it’s way more rough and the individual seats with the T-shaped lap bar means they can do sharper turns and sudden drops in a way they don’t do in Cali.

7. Radiator Springs Racers vs Test Track: Winner- DCA. Look man, Test Track is a super fun ride and it goes really fast, but RSR wins because it has the fun racing element, amazing theming, and some really impressive dark ride elements. I don’t even like Cars and I try and ride this every time we go if we can because it’s fun. Plus, Test Track, while it does have the really fun interactive element of designing a car, just screams too much Iike an ad for me (which it is).

8. Mission Breakout vs Tower of Terror: Winner- DHS. You all know I am not a fan of the new overlay of our tower, but that fight is over now, so I guess I’ll stop complaining. Well, that much, anyway. But obviously the tower in Florida is the OG and it’s still really cool. As a horror fan, it’s hard to find spooky theme park attractions that aren’t cheesy, and the OG tower is spooky without being outright scary. It’s a master of theming and atmosphere, has a killer soundtrack and pays tribute to a show I grew up loving.

9. Matterhorn vs Expedition Everest: Winner- AK. This is not remotely a fair comparison, and I adore both rides, but comparisons must be made regardless. The 2015 refurbishment of the Matterhorn saw the placement of some amazing Harold animatronics and some cool new scenes and effects. I love this ride and try and ride it every time I go to DLR. But Expeiditon Everest is such an awesome ride. So thrillling, so well themed, and it has a cool environmental message. Even with Disco yeti being a disco man since like, 2006 or whatever, it’s still a must-do ride.

10. Incredicoaster vs Rock n roller coaster: Winner- Incredicoaster. This was hard for me because I still miss Screamin (rip) but I have to say the fact that it’s an outdoor coaster really helps. I like Rock n roller coaster and both rides have really well themed queues (and honestly, not that great of a storyline) but there is something about riding Incredicoaster at both nighttime and daytime and feeling the wind on your face.

11. Indiana Jones vs Dinosaur: Winner- Disneyland. Listen. Dinosaur is a disgrace of a ride. Tbh if they redid that whole area into an Indiana Jones themed South American land like the rumors, I’d be fine with it. Dinosaur is SO BORING. It’s dark. It’s loud. There is zero tension. Oh no, the dinosaur is chasing us, what will we do?? I assume the ride was more fun when it first opened but Eisner neutered it and here we are. Oh well. Anyway, Indiana Jones is probably the greatest American ride they’ve ever made and it’s immersive-ness and theming and everything else is SO GOOD and honestly I think Disney should lay off the screens and go back to that (here’s hoping the new rise of the resistance ride is more like this).

12. Star Tours: Winner- DHS. The rides are basically the same but the outside queue for the Florida version is way cooler. So that’s a plus. even though you can see the lights and the support structures (because “studio park”) its’ still super cool to hav the Ewok village and the giant AT-AT outside.

13. Toy Story Midway Mania: Winner- DCA. I haven’t been to the new Toy Story Land yet so this might change next time I go to Florida but I just love the Victorian midway boardwalk theming of the DCA version so much. The ride is pretty much the same regardless but it’s so charming. And I love our Potato Head being an actual barker on the outside a whole lot.

14. It’s a Small World: Winner- Disneyland. Ours is the original and the thing that makes it better is that it’s an entire giant facade. It’s gorgeous. The small world facade being hidden in Florida really cuts down on the iconic parts of the attraction.

15. Peter Pan: Winner- Magic Kingdom. Personally I think both versions of this ride are overrated, but the one in Florida seems a little cooler, if I recall right. Idk, man.

16. Buzz lightyear: Winner- magic Kingdom. I don’t remember this too much but I think it’s cooler in Florida? Regardless, I don’t ever do this ride because I’m usually prioritizing other stuff.

17. The Railroad: Winner- Disneyland. I Iike the OG railroad because we got those cheesy dioramas left over from the world’s fair. Nice. Plus, I don’t remember if the WDW version cuts through any rides like the DLR one does, but seeing Splash mountain is fun.

18. Grizzly River Run vs Kali River Rapids: Winner- DCA. Dude, come on. As someone who grew up going on Grizzly, sometimes 5 times in a row, that ride is great. Great soundtrack, great queue theming, great theming on the ride itself, and it has Iike, three drops and several parts where you can get wet. So imagine my surprise when, after waiting for like an hour in 80 degree heat, listening to the sound of chainsaws the whole time, I get on Kali only to discover it has one measly drop?? So weak. WEAK. Although I do appreciate the environmental message, even if it’s like, super creepy to hear chainsaws in the distance in line.

I am kind of amused by the fact that they were only originally in Barovia for less than two weeks. XD

>125 is a bit weird as it’s the live game where the cast was DMed through envelopes and everyone had a separate turn. Jared/Paultin took place over days 312 to 317; Nate/Strix took place over days 312 to 319 (calculated by assuming Strix brought Waffles to the circus after Simon came back); Anna/Diath took place over days 318 to 327 (calculated due to Strix talking to Diath about owlbear sex at the very start); and Holly/Evelyn took place all in one day and directly before episode 126, thus day 327. This is assuming that the “extras” took place between days 318 and 327. All numbers are approximated as there was a lot of “a few days later” type descriptors being thrown around.<

<Evelyn’s guest spot on the Pax East 2019 C-Team game conflicts heavily with the facts we have from DCA. 139 is supposedly after it, but 136 is supposedly before it. However, 136-139 is all one, unbroken narrative, so it couldn’t possibly fit between them, especially when Evelyn has to make the journey to and from Red Larch, which is at least 6 days by my earlier estimations. It’s possible it could fit after 134 and before 136 as the number of passing days is unspecified, but that would mean retconning things Evelyn said in regards to what happened in 136. So I added enough days to fit it there, but continuity-wise, it still doesn’t fully work.>

NOTE: In 117, Chris says that the theft of the Evelyn statue - which occurred in 106 - was “A week ago? Two weeks ago?” however unless 2.5 months pass at the beginning of 99 alone, this is impossible and should be chalked up to him being an “unreliable narrator”. This is not the only instance of him being one, but it was a fairly glaring contradiction, so I thought I’d point it out!

Interesting Facts (some numbers are approximate):

Evelyn was a construct for 127 days

Paultin was without a shadow for 41 days

Diath was a ghoul for 4 days

Simon 1.0 was with the party for 33 days; he had first met them 2 days prior; Simon 2.0 would be found 9 days after his death

Hooty McHootface was with the party for 17 days; Waffles was only 24 days old when 3/4ths of the party died

The Waffle Crew carried a nuke around for 72 days

If my numbers are correct, then it took the party 39 days to get from Port Nyanzaru to Omu, and Diath, Strix, and Paultin would have each lost 13 HP along the way

Anything in season 4 is nearly impossible to have accurate due to all the vague descriptors, and I’m sorry XD

But if my numbers are even remotely correct, season 4 took up almost half the amount of time that passed on the show as a whole

Investment Theses for 2022

This year started with choppy markets for both stocks and crypto. Everyone has grown afraid of the big ‘I’ word, inflation. It is the pall that is casting a giant shadow on everything at the moment. It is hard to make sense of these markets because there is so much uncertainty in the world right now.

I was listening to the ‘All-In’ podcast earlier and picked up some interesting takeaways. This market reality is largely caused by the Fed’s overreaction pendulum, swinging from one extreme of a gargantuan stimulus and quantitative easing, and now to another extreme of balance sheet reduction and aggressive interest rate hikes.

I was speaking to my bank RM the other day and he echoed similar sentiments. It will be more prudent to bet on the inflation-proof stocks this year.

We can all admit that last year was an anomaly in the history of markets. Too much cash flooding the markets, easy money all over the place. The $10 trillion infusion into the market caused valuations to skyrocket. Stocks became memes. Memes were literally sucking in billions in capital. The recent market downturn is probably just a correction that more accurately reflects reality.

Megacap tech stocks (The AMAMA) were more insulated from the downturn since they are now pretty much the index itself. Chip companies like Nvidia, AMD, and TSMC continue to hold steady. P/Es are getting more attractive for these companies though, so there may be some opportunities to add positions here.

Growth tech stocks have been the most badly affected so far. They have pretty much erased their 2020 gains. I was just browsing through the stock charts right now, and my heart was tingling when I saw how much of a bargain they are today as compared to just two months ago.

It also looks like the worst is now over for the China tech crackdown. There are some interesting value plays in that market.

I will be a contrarian and say that now may be the best time to go into tech companies. The fundamentals did not change for any of these tech companies. In fact, they are now a lot stronger than before, and will only continue to grow stronger with all the tailwinds for tech. They are still poised for long-term growth. It’s only the multiples that have gone down to sane levels, and I would argue that that is a good thing.

It might me time to finally DCA in to these stocks that I wanted to get into.

This year, I expect more rational markets as a whole.

My thesis for the future is that the next wave of growth will be powered by next-gen internet, next-gen healthcare, and next-gen energy. My stance is to bet on the companies that are well-positioned in this space. I am most well-versed in the next-gen internet space, so I will focus on what I know. For long-term believers looking for a decent entry point, now seems to be a good time to shop.

Emerging market indices is an area that also has potential this coming year. I am looking at recovery years for India, Indonesia, and Thailand.

Although I suspect that 2022 will be a rough year for crypto as a whole, it is an area that I will paying close attention to. Specifically these tokens:
