I know my blog doesn’t have like, any followers, but I wanna make it clear that transmisogynists are not welcome here. I also know for a fact I have some people I need to unfollow for being transmisogynists. The last few months I’ve been very, very confused by wtf “transandrophobia” was, and I had only ever seen the “good” side of it, and never the side of it being used to actively hurt trans women. I’ll admit I’m still confused on certain things, but I’m not above admitting that I might be wrong and I’m willing to learn, so thank you for your patience.
To any trans women/trans fems who follow me: I support you, and I want you to feel safe here.
Edit: I’m retracting the bit about transandrophobia, since some of y’all have been really kind (genuinely) and helped explain the theory to me (as well as the antisemitism behind the “truther” term, which I apologize for).
To any fellow trans men/trans mascs that follow me: I want you to ALSO feel safe here. Even if my original message came from a good place, it was still worded poorly and painted us in a bad light. I won’t delete this post cause I don’t want to hide from my misconceptions and help others like me who are confused, and because I want to stand behind the message that transphobia of any kind is NOT welcome here. Thank you 😊

in a recent interview (ukr/pl), serhiy zhadan says that the russian liberal opposition of the empire remains and will remain to rely on said empire. miss it, even. without being the opposition, they are nothing, and so there remains the sense of nostalgia, a relationship that cannot be quite broken, the dependence that people from the imperial core will deny but will nevertheless slip into. i believe this is quite explicitly exemplified in the "great" russian literature, with the self-pity and presumed anti-tsarist attitudes being conflated with resentment toward colonised nations who are constantly ridiculed even in "progressive" works and by "progressive" russians. there is a sense of exceptionalism of russian "suffering" similar to that of american exceptionalism. even their pain ought to be unique. which is why as a part of resistance, especially that coming from inside the house, you always ought to remember that you need to love the oppressed more than you hate the oppressor. this is not the call to abandon the hostility against the empire, of course, the opposite really. but rather a reminder that to fight it you necessarily need to seek connections that will survive its dismantling. and understand your own position in the greater scheme of things.

i’ve rotted myself with Hairdresser! Steve 😔 he’s so ridiculous and is constantly pampering you with regular haircuts and fancy dyes that you can only get w/ a certain license. if you don’t have a hair routine? he’s making one for you. if you already have one, then he’s going to swear on his life he can make it better.
if you dye your hair he’s getting you the best dyes + touching up your hair for you. he’s thrilled if you’re constantly trying out new colors (so he can use you as a test bunny)(he’s not as courageous with his own hair </3)

anyone on twitter who labels themselves "cartoonist" is a red flag. nothing wrong with liking old cartoons. i love old cartoons. but every person who draws their art like them has aligned themselves with right wing views or associates with right wing people these past four years and excuses it with "they make valid points" or "they draw good" and im sick of it. do better.
this is such an egregiously ballsy attempt at bait that it isn’t even funny.. BUT IT IN FACT IS! because it’s the only reason i’m bothering to respond to this.
i’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt because i do think there are some good intentions somewhere. it’s certainly good to be aware of those spreading harmful ideas and thoughts, and that does need to be shut down. i appreciate you being cautious, and i get what you mean in that there is sometimes an overlap with how someone draws and what they associate with. it doesn’t sound like you’re very familiar with me or what i do and say. so, if i’m a complete stranger to you, then i can see where there would be wariness.
at the same time, there is this wonderful little idea in life about correlation not being causation. i would really appreciate it if you didn’t make incredibly baseless and harmful assumptions about me based on… how i draw and what i’m passionate about? there’s some awful strong verbiage in here. “every person” who is this every person? how does the label “cartoonist” exclusively tie to old cartoons? can you point in the direction where you find me liking, endorsing, or spreading right wing ideology? i get that i’m not exactly known for my role as a political blog, but i have to say that i don’t exactly appreciate the comparison to the same people who’ve called me a dyke all my life.
i am very passionate about the label of a “cartoonist”, which is why i’m choosing to take the bait and respond. i am a cartoonist. call me whatever you want. an artist. an illustrator. painter? animator? storyboard revisionist? a drawer, even! whatever. but i resonate especially with the connotations of a cartoonist—ones not created out of baseless accusations in an attempt to get attention.
there are people who try to steer others away from using the label cartoonist—this is the first argument for… this… that i’ve heard against it, but there’s a feeling that it’s “unprofessional” or “immature”. but that’s what i am! i love cartoons! i study cartoons! i draw cartoons! i make cartoons! cartoon is such a fun word. it’s innocent, it’s mischievous, it’s earnest. the push not to call oneself a cartoonist because it’s immature or unprofessional makes me all the more attached to it. because it’s what i do. it’s what i AM. cartoons dominate most aspects of my life, to an extent that most people would be like “…that doesn’t seem healthy.” and i do have enough support and other opportunities to keep me busy that keep me in the range of grass touching, thankfully! but cartoons have a deeply profound impact on my life and have since i was a young child. i embrace it especially now seeing as i am living a dream i never thought possible: working on one of the most beloved cartoons and pop culture iconoclasts period and hoping to inspire the kids watching today the same way i was inspired watching it years and years ago as an impressionable little child.
anyhoo. if you are actually sending this out of genuine intent and not just to stir the pot, then i’m at least hoping you’re just young and misinformed or your intentions are just misplaced. i don’t disagree that there are shitty people out there who probably do call themselves cartoonists, but a cartoonist is someone who draws cartoons. it’s not some sort of elusive dog whistle—not that i’m aware of, anyway. if you are indeed sending this in earnest, i appreciate you trying to be wary, but this is a very, very shallow mindset and baseless assumptions like these do more harm than good. i promise i’m more on your side than you think.
if you have a genuine issue with me or anything i say/do, then please send me a DM or ask off anon, because i’m always looking for ways to improve and reflect and be more aware as a person. i’m certainly not immune from criticism, and am always open for discussion. sending such a baseless ask on anon says to me that this isn’t necessarily the case here.
i hate getting sanctimonious and too serious, so i’ll end on a lighthearted note. this is the kind of stuff i draw. i’ve been listening obsessively to Mel Blanc as Porky Pig sing a song called “Giddyap Lazy Willie” for two days straight now. i promise i am not the threat that you think i am. look at how silly this is. it’s gonna be okay.

I’ve seen a really concerning trend in how some well-meaning people online are talking about Israel and Gaza, where they’re outright saying that any and all mainstream media coverage of the assault is propaganda. I saw a post saying word for word that the only reliable source is social media posts from Gazans.
So I think it’s a good time to remind y’all that “every government and mainstream media source is lying to/manipulating you, and unverified social media posts are the only place you can get uncorrupted information” is word-for-word conspiracy theory. This is not a way of thinking that you should cheer for just because it’s coming out of the mouths of people you agree with.
Yes, every sort of media has bias, especially around a topic this politically fraught. Yes, you should absolutely question the narratives and facts you’re being presented with. Yes, you should read coverage from multiple publications, in multiple countries, by multiple authors. And yes, you should even supplement that coverage with the type of up-to-the-minute first-hand accounts that social media is fantastic at providing. But having bias is not the same thing as lying. There is no global conspiracy where every world leader and media outlet on the planet has met behind closed doors and agreed to Do What Must Be Done to make Israel look good. And there are many, many journalists from around the world risking their lives on the ground in Gaza right now so they can report the facts as quickly and accurately as possible.
An updated version of this graph is appended to every article the CBC has posted about Palestine in the last few weeks:

If every Western media outlet is bending over backwards to make Israel look good, they’re doing a pretty shit job of it.

Leopril shippers, I like you, have this little thought I got: Y’all remember that S1 scene of Leo going to April about Karai saying “i met this girl 👉👈”?
When Leo falls for April he goes to Karai and does the same thing of just “Hey Karai-Yes I know it’s late but…there’s this girl 👉👈” and asks her for advice cuz mans in my opinion/HC doesn’t know how tf to ask a person out he’s been too busy these past couple of years getting traumatized every week to really look into it
