Dear PYN, it's me here! I had an ask for you - if there was one scene in P&P you desperately wanted to see in IPK and vice/versa, which scenes would those be? Much love, JWB

Actually..I do have a few scenes in mind, including Arnav taking a dip in his pool(like Darcy Colin Firth in the lake scene) in a white shirt?

Kidding :D My one top scene would be this:

In P&P, I love the idea of Darcy writing to Elizabeth, to address her accusations of him during his proposal. Projecting this on IPK, I would have liked to see Khushi trying to send an email to Arnav explaining the truth, after the airport scene. Darcy and Khushi’s situation is so similar- both of them have a secret, their partners misunderstand them and both Lizzy/Arnav are more likely to be reasonable when they are less provoked.

Now, how this whole scenario would play out with the whole kidnapping narrative in IPK is another story, but the idea intrigues me. I even tried to write a fan fiction out of this and gave up halfway, lol. So yeah, if I were to pick one top scene, it would be this one.

I can’t think of any scenes I badly want in P&P from IPK though, mostly because I tend to idealize the classic.

Also, since I like talking I have to appreciate your explanation for Aman. He looks pretty handsome and I so wished the Anjali-Aman ship sailed. They would look great together. Oh yes I completely believe Aman-Anjali to be a couple. I accept that as canon *lol* Oh yeah it took me time to understand what happened too.

Honestly, my favorites count as all of the people I’ve met and become friends on Tumblr. As you rightly said, @ridzmystique and @muttonthings are my favorites because of the hilarious moment of us meeting, but apart from that and the babua confusion nothing really strikes me. 

I have been pretty quiet online until now :)

I think standard ITV rarely focuses on making a relationship healthy. In fact they are focused on breaking down relationships for the sake of drama so in terms of that IPK was pretty good. Yes, unfortunately there wasn't much focus on the development. Yeah, I have no idea what was happening post second wedding. Oh let’s not start on Ek Jashn. 

Arnav and Khushi looked amazing in the promo of Ek Jashn and a few select scenes but otherwise Ek Jashn was one of the weirdest thing I ever saw. Arnav was more sarcastic and a bit ‘tired’ of his ‘silly’ wife, he was characterized as the ‘typical’ husband stereotype and I was incensed by how much he mocked Khushi as a character. I... disliked it immensely. They were extremely out of character for me. 

I prefer Rewind Arnav further. He’s genuinely mellow, reflective, mature, honest, happy, calm and nostalgic - what you expect in a long, happy marriage.

Hey PS, I am a hardcore fan of IPK and do whatever I can to keep me connected to it though I have been a silent reader and watcher. Anyway now coming to the point even though I like to read FFs which keep everything in the canon as it is like yours (by the way the recent charade update was awesomesauce), recently I read few FFs in which everything is same except that Khushi is more modern, extremely educated and sometime having a good profession before she meets Arnav. (Esha 1)

(Esha 2)And it got me thinking what actually would have happened if that was the case and who better than encyclopedia of IPK (It's not flattering because according to me you are). So PS what do you think the changes would be there if that was the case will they be the same despite the fact that she is not middleclass (This was the reason for Arnav's trust issues initially) or they would have been the same. Thank you very much for the compliment :) I hope you’re doing well!

A modern, extremely educated, Khushi with an established profession is (1) older than the girl we saw in the serial and (2) on more equal footing to him. Which I understand is the intent behind the AU scenario. I guess then it depends on how the author characterises Khushi -- does her ego still match his, is she still judgemental about his atheism? Plus other things like how they each dealt with the deaths of their parents.

I’ve always thought the cause of his distrust was the manner of their meeting, not the fact that she was middle-class. He initially thought she was a corporate spy who intentionally ruined the fashion show that symbolised his victory over a childhood trauma. The entire tirade about ‘girls like you’ was about girls who used the facade of innocence to make their way in the world. It took him a long time to accept that her innocence was real, and then the terrace thing happened.

ETA: Arnav reacted badly to what looked like manipulation: Khushi ruined his show in Lucknow, then she was in Delhi scratching his car, then she was in his office as an employee, and then it came to light that she’d already been inside his home to deliver saris. Like. It looked as though she had a motive. 

If it really was about her being middle-class, then he wouldn’t have argued to Nani that all that matters in Mama and Mami’s relationship is that they’re happy. He wouldn’t have put Shyam on a pedestal as a father-figure. He wouldn’t have supported Aakash's interest in Payal.

So, if the goal is to equalise the dynamic between them, then I posit that it’s not about giving Khushi an education or profession, or making her more modern. It’s about changing the circumstances in which they met, which is what I tried to do with RISHTAA. I still made her a little older and in college because I wanted her to be less judgemental about Arnav’s life and lifestyle, so in the end it’s all the same :)

Dewi sangat aktif mengiktui kegiatan kemahasiswaan, organisasi, social project, dan kompetisi-kompetisi internasional. Ia telah diundang sebagai pembicara di lebih dari 100 seminar, workshop, maupun kajian. Berbagai penghargaan pernah diraih Mahasiswa Berprestasi FKM UI ini, termasuk winner Imagine Cup Student tahun 2016 kategori World Citizenship, sebuah ajang kompetensi bergengsi di bidang teknologi. Sebelumnya Dewi pernah menjabat sebagai Program Development Manager di INDOHUN (Indonesia One Health University Network) dan saat ini masih aktif membantu kegiatan penelitian di Emerging Zoonotic and Infectious Disease - Health Policy Research Group, Universitas Indonesia. Garis besar kenapa saya memilih studi di uk bisa dilihat di slide ini, itu alasan general nya. Yang pasti, studi qt akan di recognise oleh banyak orang, semua jurusan ada di uk, qt akan bisa mendapatkan pengetahuan dan skill yg qt inginkan. Yang paling kentara, UK sudah sangat paham dgn international students dari negara manapun berasal, bisa dipastikan pasti ada yg sekolah di UK (sangat multikultural). Dan yg menguntungkan, waktu kuliah bisa cepat disini, untuk S2, rata2 hanya satu tahun. Kalau itu alasan generalnya, ada alasan khusus bagi saya. Bagi saya pribadi, sekolah ke UK itu bukan utk mengejar prestige, namun saat utk bisa menyerap ilmu seluas2nya. Kalau di Indonesia ada jurusan yg memang lebih baik kualitasnya, saya ndak akan kuliah ke UK. Saya kuliah di UK krna mmg jurusan yg sy dalami begitu berkembang pesat di Inggris, sdgkn keilmuan tsb blm berkembang di Indonesia. Jadilah saya kuliah di ICL (univ peringkat ke-4 terbaik di dunia saat saya S2), agar ilmu yg sy dapatkan disana, bisa sy pulang kembali utk kemaslahatan Indonesia. Simpelnya, kalau kuliah di LN pastikan kualitas kampusnya lebih baik dr Indonesia. Misal, kalau UI di QS World Ranking berada pd peringkat 200, maka jgn pilih univ dgn peringkat 250 yg berada di LN, demi lulus dari universitas LN. Jd ada baiknya dipikirkan alasan dan motivasi kuat knp qt harus kuliah di LN… Bahasa simpelnya, LURUSKAN NIAT 😁 Alasan pendukung lainnya adalah sistem pendidikan UK yg sudah begitu matang. Jaringan internet, akses jurnal jgn dipertanyakan. Belum lagi dosen2 yg begitu disiplin dan professional. Hal2 itulah yg menguatkan knp saya utk S3 ini kembali ke UK Hal berkesan lain dari pendidikan di UK adalah, kalau dulu saya hanya bisa tahu siapa penulis buku X yg sangat baik keilmuannya. Kalau di UK, tak jarang sy bisa langsung bertemu dgn penulisnya, berdiskusi lgsg jika ada hal2 yg ingin sy tanyakan.

[19:18, 26/10/2017] Humairo S: Perlu diketahui bahwa masyarakat UK begitu heterogen, benar2 multikultural. Bayangkan saja bahwa hanya 50% yg asli British, sisanya imigran yg sudah tinggal menetap di Inggris.

Dikarenakan Inggris memiliki budaya yg multicultural itulah, sifat utama orang2 disini adalah sangat friendly dan welcome. Toleransi begitu tinggi. Sehingga bagi saya seorang muslimah yg ttp mengenakan jilbab panjangnya, bukan menjadi alasan utk tdk berteman dgn saya. Semuanya begitu terbuka, menerima perbedaan yg ada. UK memiliki sistem kesehatan yg begitu mumpuni. Kalau saat ini sudah dikenakan biaya asuransi, dulu saya gratis utk berobat di Inggris. Biaya kehamilan dan melahirkan gratis tis tis disini. Bahkan anak saya, Najwa mendapatkan paket lengkap imunisasi gratis di Inggris.

Makanan halal jg dgn mudah qt dapatkan. Oh ya kak, apa disana banyak komunitas pelajar ataupun kekeluargaan Indonesia? Komunitas pelajar ada PPI. Ada juga kelompok-kelompok pengajian lokaliti yang tersebar di seluruh UK, meliputi London, Birmingham, Nottingham, Louborough, Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, Newcastle, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Bristol, Southampton, dll. Selain itu, ada sebuah organisasi warga muslim Indonesia di UK yang bernama KIBAR (Keluarga Islam Indonesia di Britania Raya) yang sudah didirikan sejak tahun 1988, yang bertujuan sebagai wadah silaturahmi warga muslim Indonesia se-Britania Raya, termasuk Skotlandia, Irlandia dan Wales. KIBAR memiliki agenda rutin KIBAR Gathering yang dilakukan 1 tahun 2 kali yaitu pada saat autumn dan spring. Dulu suami saya pernah diamanahkan menjadi ketua KIBAR, jd sy tahu betul bgmn pengorganisasian komunitas muslim Indonesia di UK [19:19, 26/10/2017] Humairo S: Apalagi di London, ada begitu bnyk pengajian. Pengajian lokaliti (AL-Ikhlas), pengajian utk TKI (Al-Hidayah), pengajian KBRI, pun pengajian TPA utk anak2 (An-Nur). Itulah mengapa saya bilang, UK terutama London memiliki atmosfer Islam yg begitu kondusif..

MaasyaaAllah, Alhamdulillah, jadi bagi kita yg muslim tentu tidak perlu khawatir yaa kak, ☺☺

Apa kesulitan terbesar atau hal mendasar agar kita bisa tetap survive tinggal disana? Seperti hal nya iklim dan cuaca di UK yg berbeda dg Indonesia Beberapa guru najwapun berniqob MaasyaaAllah,

. Toleransi di UK bener bener kerasa banget

👍👍👍 Mgkn utk perkara iklim, bagi yg baru2 dtg akan perlu waktu utk beradaptasi. Tp yakinlah, tubuh qt begitu pintar utk begitu cepat menyesuaikan diri. Jd perkara perbedaan iklim dpt dgn mudah diatasi. Hal mendasar dan merupakan tantangan adalah, biaya hidup yang mahal hidup thn 2015, per 2017 ini, standar biaya hidup per orang di London adalah gbp 1200, dan sktr 1000 utk outer London. Jadi biaya hidup di London per bulan kisaran 20 juta Bagi kami penerima beasiswa, yg dilakukan utk menghemat adalah di biaya akomodasi. Kami pribadi, prefer tgl di daerah yg agak jauh (zona 3) dan transport ke kampus sekitar 40-60 menit dibangingkan tgl di zona central yg biaya akomodasinya bisa 2x lipat.

Tantangan selanjutnya khususnya bagi seorang muslim adalah MEMPERTAHANKAN TAQWA. Saat pilihan makan makanan tidak halal, diajak ke pub, melalaikan shalat tersedia, sejauh manakan qt ttp mau mendirikan ketaatan kpd- ketaatan kpd-Nya... Hidup di LN dgn budaya yg bisa jadi berbeda antara timur dan barat, qt sendirilah yg harus bisa memilih dan memilih apa2 yg terbaik bagi qt, apa2 yg diridhoi oleh Allah SWT Naah, kak dewina kan dapat beasiswa BPRI yaa (Beasiswa Presiden Republik Indonesia)

. Atau ada ngga, trik khusus dari kak dewina, agar kita dapat lolos beasiswa? Khususnya BPRI? [19:36, 26/10/2017] Humairo S: Hmm.. Beasiswa Presiden Republik Indonesia atau disingkat BPRI adalah beasiswa pendidikan yang dikelola oleh LPDP (Lembaga Pengelola Dana Pendidikan) yang pada pelaksanaannya melibatkan lembaga kepresidenan untuk menyaring secara ketat kandidat penerima beasiswa. Secara persyaratan, BPRI mengharuskan kandidatnya bersekolah di 50 universitas terbaik di dunia atau minimal saat pendaftaran mampu menunjukkan memiliki IPK min 3.5 dan IELTS overall band score 7, namun dikabarkan ada kelonggaran terkait dengan persyaratan IPK atau nilai TOEFL/IELTS jika kandidat mampu menunjukkan potensi kepemimpinan dan pengabdian masyarakat yang besar.

Proses seleksinya dimulai dari seleksi administrasi, kemudian seleksi berkas, dilanjutkan wawancara, seleksi tahap akhir dan terakhir Program Kepimimpinan. Untuk tahun 2014, berdasarkan paparan panitia, ada sekitar 3000-an orang pendaftar online BPRI yang kemudian hanya 526 diantaranya yg memasukkan berkas. Dari 526 berkas, hanya 283 orang yang dinyatakan lulus untuk mengikuti wawancara (53%), yang kemudian setelah diwawancara hanya 136 orang (48%) yang dinyatakan lulus untuk mengikuti Seleksi Tahap Akhir (STA). Pada akhirnya, setelah 3 hari mengikuti STA, hanya 109 kandidat yang dinyatakan secara resmi menjadi penerima BPRI 2014 angkatan pertama, yang terdiri 68 sipil dan 41 TNI POLRI. Setahu saya, BPRI sdh tidak diadakan lagi, jadi bisa jadi pd thn 2014 kmrn adalah yg pertama dan terakhir. Smg bukan yg terakhir. Tp BPRI ini mmg akan bergantung dr kebijakan presiden. Saran saya, drpd menunggi BPRI yg tdk tahu kpn akan ada lagi, lebih baik daftar beasiswa yg mmg sdh jelas ada seperti BPI yg sama2 dikelola oleh LPDP

They were dances of mortification. Mr.Collins awkward and solemn, apologizing instead of attending and often moving wrong without being aware of it, gave her all the shame and misery which a disagreeable partner for a couple of dances can give. The moment of her release from him was ecstasy.

Parallelism of Darcy and Arnav

Fitzwilliam Darcy, the lead hero of Jane Austen’s classic “Pride and Prejudice” has long been the template for creating a dark brooding romantic hero. Though Arnav’s characterization is not simply an adaptation of Darcy, there are some parallels he shares with the classic hero.

Of wealth and words

Both the characters are exceedingly rich and strikingly handsome but are socially inept(atleast at the beginning)

How to not make a terrible first impression

Attraction might be easy given their looks, but their love interests are repulsed/intimidated at the first meet.

Their conceited outlook makes them blind to reality and how people perceive them as they struggle with attraction/love and ego.

Conversation skills

Even though both the characters are very caring and protective of their loved ones and friends, they can’t make a conversation. They keep interactions brief(mostly just one-liners, seriously?!) even while courting and always end up wanting more.

With others they seem reclusive and just mumble courtesies to fill the void.

In love with your eyes 👀

This is almost the first feature both the heroes admire about their love interests. Maybe that’s why they speak volumes with their eyes and rarely have to use words.

Love is the best redemption ever

Darcy and Arnav’s characters seem to hinge on this. From the minute they fix on pursuing their love interest(even if rejected), they evaluate themselves and keep pushing to betterment in trying to be truly gentlemanly and learning how to love. That is their redemption arc.

They just can’t bear to see their lady love in distress. No, Never..

Sorry for the delayed response! I had my period and I was down in the dumps 😞

I am basing my response based on ASR’s characterization in the show coz I LOVE it! Also, I am assuming you’re referring to Darcy’s first proposal, yeah?

If Arnav had proposed Khushi the way Mr. Darcy did and Khushi had the same response as Lizzie, what would have been ASR’s repercussion?

First of all.. Canonically....

I don’t think an Arnav ‘in love’ would propose to Khushi as Darcy did, because...

Consider this,

Darcy had no clue about what Elizabeth felt about him(he was appalled when Lizzie rejected him) whereas Arnav was aware of Khushi’s feelings for him almost every step of their journey excluding the times they ignored their own understanding of the other.

Pride- Darcy vs Arnav: Darcy battled with Pride and love. Even when he was very much in love with Lizzie, he could not bring himself to accept her rank and connections. On the other hand when Arnav fell in love, he started doing many things just for Khushi like paying her father’s hospital bills, saying ‘SORRY’ to her...before he even knew he was in love. Arnav did not battle with pride, only the façade of ‘ASR’ did(for a brief time).

But this scenario did play out( in a way) when he asked her to consent for a contract marriage. It was an outrageous proposal and Khushi turned him down until he held her sister’s marriage at stake. But the circumstances were vastly different.

Answering it as a ‘what-if?’

Darcy and Arnav are both alphas, so even if Arnav did propose like that in an alternate IPK universe, I think he’d take it on himself to woo Khushi. Maybe he’d try to seal the deal with gifts at first and when they backfire, have a heart to heart with her and understand what the problem is, for starters. Even in the show, they adapt so well to each other’s life style(given how contrary they were) and his passion and chivalry is sure to win Khushi’s heart! After all, as Arnav, in episode 347 says, "Love can reduce anyone, to anything."

I hope you like my response, but this is completely my subjective opinion. No matter what anyone says, your head canon is always the best because its ‘yours’ :)
