Ah, perfect timing. I was just going to type up my post for this.

It's easy to lose your mind from sheer confusion, because I feel like I've been swinging on a pendulum since December. I think they’re trying to do is use all of this very overt religious imagery and plot to portray this battle of inner liberation for each character.

Get ready, I'm about to go full Charlie.

The last two seasons of Riverdale have been deeply entrenched in consequence, and how its affect on the characters have affected the town, whereas previously it was the other way around.

If Season 5 was about its characters developing their values and desires as adults, because what was stopping them in high school and youth isn't a barrier anymore, Season 6 has overtly been a season about morality; how the consequences of those choices affects their conscious. The season serves as an opportunity for them to reflect on their past and make peace or amends with it, so that the sins of it won���t bleed into the future that aligns with their true wants and values will be ruined.

Except for Tabitha. She’s a literal angel because she doesn’t have any pre-time skip sins to make up for and has done nothing but the right thing since she arrived. Hence her focus on liberating everyone else.

But Bunker!Jughead serves as a pivotal example of this divide.

Bunker Jughead represents the worst parts of Season 5 Jughead, who retreated to deep isolation and let everything fester in the dark.

The bunker being the portal into hell is no coincidence if you remember his worst wounds of S5 take place there. Final place he goes to before college after being left behind by everyone? The bunker. First home he has coming back into Riverdale because he burned all his bridges from selling The Outcasts? Bunker. Where do we hear how extensive the debt he owes is? Bunker. Mushroom trip where he hallucinates about teenage Betty? Bunker. Trying to reconcile with Betty (and it doesn’t go quite how he thinks)? Bunker. His relapse? Bunker. Stealing Cora’s story to sell as his own? Bunker. It’s where where the lowest, most pathetic, side of him lies.

You can take the line about how he rarely leaves it as a metaphor for how he can’t leave this pit he’s dug himself in. It’s how Dale!Jughead or Season 6 Jughead, could’ve turned out if he kept going the route he was on in early season 5. I love Ethel calling him out as pathetic for his one sided pining, because it serves as the show calling out who he was. Past tense, Jughead’s done a deal of learning how to communicate since.

Season 6/Dale!Jughead is faced with seeing that clearer than ever; if he dares to revert back to his unrequited feelings for this ghost, this version of Betty that died and no longer exists, continues to bite in and indulge in his own gluttonous nostalgia and greed, lets that old toxicity interfere, it will destroy him. So this part, Bunker!Jughead, needs to die or be dealt with if Dale!Jughead is to be with Tabitha without the past infesting their future together.

But Dale!Jughead dies when he first sees his Bunker version alone. He can’t deal with it by himself.

He would have died forever if he didn’t let Tabitha in, and if she didn’t fight to bring him back to earth like she fought for his sobriety and wellbeing. Interesting how he’s only able to survive Bunker!Jughead with Tabitha there, just like how he’s been able to conquer all his other worldly demons and will conquer this one, as well as Percival — working with her, his angel, by his side.

One of the funniest things about Riverdale to me is that they clearly have some kind of external restriction on making All the leads gay (probably handed down from the Archie copyright overlords) and so have responded to this by 1. placing the leads in as many homoerotic situations as physically possible and 2. undermining virtually every single possible heterosexual pairing on the show by making it clear that every last one of them would be a terrible choice for the characters involved

#at this point i think the only het betty pair that she could reasonably be happy in is probably her and reggie #veronicas relationships with men are all disastrous apart from jughead and her pining after cheryl and betty has only gotten more obvious #i like foni but their marriage is literally based on a lie #and i also like jabitha but honestly theyve had so little screentime that i do wonder if they can possibly be endgame #idk. Yeah!!🎉 love when you update. My thoughts "which could mean, I dunno Jeronica endgame..." I've also seen some fans speculate/rejoice because if VA is possible half the time then they're getting BH with that outcome, (which totally ignores Tabitha as an option) BUT IN ALL SCENARIOS JUGHEAD DIES SO.... HE CAN'T BE ANYONE'S ENDGAME. Not Tabi's, Betty's, Veronica's anyone's. Now of course things change, people don't stay dead in Riverdale but at this point Jug is slated to die so...

I got curious about what "Barchie Daily" on Twitter was saying after yesterday. I have her blocked, but I went to read some of her posts. BIG MISTAKE. I literally almost vomited. That is one psycho, B*rchie-obsessed bitch, that's all I can say. "Bughead endgame is NOT possible - Jabitha are SO in love - their endgame is secured because we saw their future (which was actually only one possible future)!" " It's obvious how much Barchie is in love! Best friends to lovers! Their proposal took place in the same bedroom where they broke up!(???)" "The writers CAN NOT hurt Tabitha by bringing back Bughead - I will hunt them down!""It will be okay - the writers have assured us that they will protect Tabitha by keeping Jabitha endgame (the writers have done no such thing)!" ...the FUCK??? The delusions are strong with that one and her followers. She sends tweets to harass set designers, writers, key grips, craft services, etc. from the Riverdale set every day. She wants them to tell her they are shooting and/or writing BA and JT scenes, that BA and JT are assuredly endgames, and she wants evidence - yeah, like anybody is gonna provide that.

Tabitha pulls an apple off the tree and inspects it for bruises. “Jughead, does this look good to you?”

He quickly swallows his bite of apple and looks closely at the glossy red fruit she presents to him. “Yeah, it looks fine. Really fresh.” He takes another bite of his apple.

Tabitha rolls her eyes at him. “Are you even picking for our pies? Or just your own appetite?”

He gives her a look of mock-shock, throwing an apple core to the ground. “I’ll have you know I’m very serious about pies. If anything, I’m taste-testing the apples before taking one of the same colour.”

She looks in his basket of apples and sees what could be described as a fraction compared to her own.

“We should have gone pumpkin picking,” she laments playfully. “You wouldn’t have been able to eat more than half your pickings.”

“So you would have preferred that I starve?” he jests, grabbing two apples, putting one in his basket and biting into the other.

Tabitha grabs two apples as well, checking their exterior quickly then dramatically placing them in her almost overflowing basket. “You wouldn’t have starved, Jug. I would have made sure to stock the truck with snacks just for you.”

“This is why you are an angel, Tabs,” he says. He reaches for a bright red apple and makes a big show of putting it his basket while still eating the last apple he grabbed.

She also picks a few apples and drops them carefully into Jughead’s somewhat empty basket. “Tell you what. If you can fill this basket, I will make one pie for just us.”

“Tempting me with food is low and petty and I’m in. This basket will be filled.”

Tabitha laughs. “I knew I’d get you to contribute somehow.”

Jughead finishes off his last apple and pulls her in close. “You offered me pie and time with you. Two of my favourite things. Obviously I’m motivated now.”

“Good, because we’re also close to the end of the field.”

She gestures to the exit with a nod of her head. “Better hurry up.”

He pulls away from Tabitha and smiles at her one last time before laser-focusing on the task she gave him, not eating any of his picked apples.

They get to the end of the last row and she carefully investigates his basket, which has been filled to the top.

“I’m surprised you were able to gather this many,” she wonders out loud.

“I told you, I’m very serious about pies.” He grabs hold of her hand. “And you. I’m very serious about you.”

She stands on her toes to kiss Jughead quickly and then turns on her feet. “We need to pay first,” she comforts at his longing looks after breaking up their kiss.

“And then we get our pie?” he asks.

“First we make pies for everyone else. But yes. Then we get our pie.”
