"Your simple-mindedness is fascinating. 'My father stole less than these other robbers.' It's only a villain that can say those words. An empty being that doesn't believe in the human experience.
Why, thank you."

El Conde    [trailer]
Centers on Augusto Pinochet who is not dead but an aged vampire. After living 250 years in this world, he has decided to die once and for all.
I only have some general knowledge about the dictatorship of Pinochet. But I assume that all the main things mentioned in the movie happened (no, not the vampirism), including all the corrupt enrichment touched upon in the film.
The revelation of the narrator is then again another highlight, and the black and white cinematography is often gorgeous to look at.

El Conde: There is a Vampire Haunting Chile
Did you ever wish that What We Do in the Shadows and Succession were the same thing? Well, El Conde, the latest from Pablo Larraín, is here to fill that specific craving! Check out my review and then check out the movie!
About fifteen years ago, Pablo Larraín, nowadays famous for handsomely mounted biopic of the likes of Jackie Kennedy and Princess Di, began a loosely connected trilogy of films centered around the Pinochet regime’s impact on Chilean culture. Pinochet’s legacy is a dominant theme in Chilean cinema, with the latest generation coming of age and raised under his rule, with Larraín’s trilogy being a…

El Conde is a dark comedy/horror that imagines a parallel universe inspired by the recent history of Chile. The film portrays Augusto Pinochet, a symbol of world fascism, as a vampire who lives hidden in a ruined mansion in the cold southern tip of the continent. Feeding his appetite for evil to sustain his existence. After two hundred and fifty years of life, Pinochet has decided to stop drinking blood and abandon the privilege of eternal life. He can no longer bear that the world remembers him as a thief. Despite the disappointing and opportunistic nature of his family, he finds new inspiration to continue living a life of vital and counterrevolutionary passion through an unexpected relationship.
