The ‘Good Ol’ Days’
Tumblr media
John Price x f!Reader (callsign: saint)
Warnings: Mention of violence, Swearing, Scars poorly edited :)))
Summary: a lovely night with John Price, recounting the “good ol’ days”
text in italics, will be represented as a flashback
Any feedback is welcome ;)
———
“When did you know you liked me?”
The question caught John off guard, you two had been sitting in silence on the porch enjoying each others company, still in your gear having just gotten back from a mission.
John looked back over at you, your smile and natural features glowing in the moonlight, face still covered in a bit of dirt and dried blood. As crazy as it sounded? He thought you looked beautiful like that. The sound of your voice had snapped John back to reality.
“John?”
“Hm?” He hummed, his expression a bit dumbfounded. You chuckled at that. “You zoned out on me there. Answer the question, when did you know you liked me?” You giggled, restating your question. “Oh.. well, that’s an easy answer” he said pridefully. You raised an eyebrow, urging him to go on.
“It was about 5 or so years ago.. you had been sitting at a table alone at the bar on melrose ave” he smiled at the memory, you had the cutest little pissed off look on your face, obviously sober.
“Wait.. when we first met?! Holy shit! I was still lieutenant under Foley!” You squealed, slightly proud of yourself for remembering such a vivid memory so long ago.
John remembers that day like it was yesterday.
———
“Not enjoying yourself Sargent?” John asks, resting his hand on the back of the free chair across from you. Your eyes snap in his direction. Fast, focused. Definitely sober.
“Hm?” You hum. “Oh! No..” you point to the group of loud drunk soldiers behind you. “Someone has to drive those dumbasses home” you smile politely.
He pulls out the chair across from you and slips into the seat, urging to talk more. You were in your gear, he scans your uniform. Nothing to indicate your position. But you seemed professional, not too tense but not all relaxed either, seeming like you were ready to jump on your feet if anything happened. So definitely not a rookie celebrating her first mission.
“Are they yours?” He asks, hesitant to assume you were a captain, seeing as he had never seen you before. You outstretch your hand onto the table to shake his own, introducing yourself.
“I’m Captain Foley’s lieutenant, call me saint.” You say, a prideful smile on your face. John takes your hand, firm grip. He’ll keep that in mind just in case. He chuckles quietly at your callsign, not in a mocking kind of way, but an interested way. “John Price, I’m under MacMillian. Saint, hey?”
You scratch the back of your head and scrunch your nose “ah.. long story..” you sigh.
He takes this time to take in your features, not many scars paint you face, he notices one in particular, it goes from just the bottom of your chin to your neck, that seems like a hell of a story. He’s lost in thought when you suddenly get up from your seat and slam your hands on the table. A fights started.
“Jesus Christ-“ you mumble under you breath as you rise to your feet.
You features are now stern, hard, professional. You curse louder than John had expected.
“I’m sorry but these fucken’ pricks don’t know how to appreciate anything good!” You spit venom before turning back to John with a sympathetic look. “I’m sorry John, I’d really love to talk more but I have to deal with this..”
———
“Wait hold on.. thats when you knew you liked me?! Jesus- John I was pissed off and had just gotten back from a mission, I did not look pretty..” you breath out, slightly chuckling
John took your hands, making eye contact with you.
“You looked beautiful.”

Décret ordonnant la levée de 300 000 hommes, 24 février 1793
"This special military levy was the forerunner of the famous “levy en masse.” It was the preliminary step in the development of a scheme of national conscription which was to be perfected in the later days of the Revolution and under Bonaparte, and which was to be adopted subsequently by all major European states as the basis of their military organization. For the most part the levy was successful, although it occasioned rebellious opposition on the part of many Catholic peasants."
***
' All French citizens from the age of eighteen to fully forty years, unmarried or widowers without children, are in a state of permanent requisition until the date of completion of the effective recruiting of the newly levied 300,000 men hereinafter decreed.
The Executive Council and the generals of the armies of the Republic may requisition the said citizens; the generals shall render account to the Executive Council, and the Executive Council to the Convention, of the number of those who have been requisitioned, and of the departments on which the various requisitions have been made.'

//Updates, I'm gonna work on drafts and starters tomorrow for certain threads. If I've not responded odds are I lost the thread and if you wanna do another lemme know and I'll get it made. I'm also gonna put a read more here for the current CoD brain rot cause MWIII and MWZ has a bit of a grip on me right now.
Advanced Warfare is looking to be added into the new timeline and I think its a potential soft reboot for that story much like how Black Ops Cold War was for the Black Ops series meaning we could have some familiar beat-points but certain 'canon events' could be changed, could stay the same, we all know how that ended for Soap and I have my opinions on the story but its not the worst CoD campaign that was put out there. It wasn't the best, but it wasn't the worst either there still was some good takeaways and subtle shit.
Anyways, from my current knowledge I know that Treyarch is on deck next potentially for their newer Black Ops iteration which is rumored to be the Gulf War, which lasted between 1990 to 1991. I think Makarov's backstory is going to help seg-way into the Black Ops story.
Born before the fall of the Soviet Union, Makarov's father, as described in Vlad's MP bio, was a high-ranking politician. So when the Soviet Union fell in 1991 his father took his own life. Around this time too, we know that Imran Zakhaev was also getting a foothold in the Soviet Union as well, with Kravchenko sort of being his in, so there might be some kind of connection there where the two try to work together to help save and strengthen the Soviet Union leading to the inevitable hunt for Imran Zakhaev who is brought into the Perseus network, we bring in Russell Adler and some of his guys to help hunt for them along with a couple of additional guys, a young John Price and Captain MacMillian leading them to Pripyat to kill Zakhaev just before the fall of the Soviet Union to stop him from an arms trade of recovered Nova Six, of course Zakhaev lives but is wounded and essentially stokes up the fuel and the fire with his son Viktor.
Considering Vlad would still be a teenager around this time, he wouldn't be involved in that particular event since he joins the Russian Army in 1998 right when he turns 18 and he volunteers for General Barkov's unit a year before Barkov performs an unsanctioned attack and occupation of Urzikstan and is there up until the ULF took back their home. Makarov goes back to his superiors to plead to reclaim Urzikstan and is stripped of his honors and rank.
In comes Viktor Zakhaev looking to take Barkov's throne and who is also looking for a little bit of revenge and justice? Makarov. With a little coercion they also get Al-Asad and place him as the new leader of AQ. It plays into the titles of one of the CoD 4 missions 'The Sins of the Father' if they go that route. Might fly over the heads of most but could be a subtle little nod.

"“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated Me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed My teaching, they will obey yours also. They will treat you this way because of My name, for they do not know the One who sent Me."
John 15:18-21
RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
Ron Boyd-MacMillian concludes his two-part analysis of religious freedom in our country:
It was a persecuted Christian in the Middle East who gave me the eyes to see that religious freedom always needs protecting, wherever one is, “Freedom is fragile,” she said. “Religious freedom is not about having the right laws to protect belief—that’s a myth put out by the human rights community. No, religious freedom is protected not by laws, but by a climate of respect and openness that ensures the laws are correctly applied. A toleration law, for example, can be used for or against Christians. Christians always have to fight to ensure the climate is tolerant.”
She added, “I don’t care what country or state you live in, you also live in a culture that hates Christ. That’s your fight, and every Christian on the earth has the same fight, whether you belong to a so-called Christian society or not.”
She was right. A climate of prejudice against Christians has crept up by stealth in western cultures, even in apparently Christian ones. We are in a battle in our own backyard. Thank you, persecuted church, for awakening me to the fight!
As Ron writes, we are in a battle even at home. It doesn’t take much insight—or even imagination—to assess the direction of the moral slide in our free societies, especially in the Western world. Biblical values are disappearing and secular philosophies with a pseudo-biblical aura are fast taking their place.
As I’ve travelled and spoken in western countries, it is not uncommon to have folk share with me how they lost their employment because of their faith. They had not been obnoxious nor spending company time witnessing. They had simply expressed their support for biblical principles that were being violated. Jesus warns in our scripture today that this treatment is because of His name. Let’s make sure that it is not because we refuse to be His salt and light.
Response
Today I will walk with my eyes open to the reality of anti-Christian prejudice. And I will retaliate with the only weapon Jesus authorised: love for all others—even my perceived enemies.
Prayer
Lord, I know that because of Your life in me I am bound to generate negative reactions. Help me to respond in a truly loving manner as You exemplified and be Your salt and light in a darkening world.

Omg Roxanna at the end calling out for henrik but not being able to talk to was so sad 😭 this is the worse storyline holby have done in a very long Time.
I never thought I would say this, as I celebrated when he left, but we need guy self to fix this and expose Gaskell. BRING BACK GUY SELF

i was half assing the “all ghillied up” mission (i was going for the missed intel and that trophy for that mission) but if you break stealth after the field are with all the guys and tanks and you alert the guys dumping the bodies, Macmillian will say “does stealth mean nothing to you” and i though it was funny, cause it was true during that part

Rating Whether I Would Date Character From Peaky Blinders On A Scale Of 1 To 10: Part 4
Esme Lee - 8/10
Tumblr media
Esme reminds me so much of myself, I hate it. She’s hella horny, the two times that the show showed Tommy walking in on her and John were hilarious. People had to be walking in on them all the time. That’s besides the point. I love her character and would totally date her. Imagine how much fun she would be and all the wild things she would want to do. Where do I sign up?
Oswald Mosely - -1000/10
Tumblr media
I haven’t finished watching s5 but this dude is a creep. Someone should hit him with a car. Idek how people can stand to be around him, he just gives off horrible vibes. There’s not much else to say about him, he’s trash. Someone find a dumpster to throw him in.
May Carleton - 8/10
Tumblr media
If it wasn’t clear to y’all, I love pretty much all the woman in Peaky Blinders. May has this huge ass house and you bet your ass I would be running through the halls all the time. I joke to my friends that I’m gonna marry a rich Englishman who has a large estate, scrap that, I’m gonna marry May Carleton and spend my days riding horses with her.
Clive Macmillian - 5/10
Tumblr media
I only added Clive to this because I think he deserved better. Think about it for a second, you have to chose between Clive and Tommy. Clive will give you a stable, happy life. Tommy will get you killed at a gala. Which do you chose? Cilve deserved better than Grace and didn’t deserve to be cheated on. So I wouldn’t necessarily date him, but come on, I would pick him over a dumbass.
Lizzie Stark - 6/10
Tumblr media
I have a love/hate relationship with Lizzie. I think she deserves so much better than she’s be given and I think she’s a total dumbass for having anything to do with Tommy. I would totally date her and treat her so much better than Tommy. Take her on actual dates, not treat her like she’s someone I can fuck all the time, treat her like an actual person. You know, normal shit like that.

i’d like a match up with both a survivor & killer please 🥺 i’m a teen, 5’2, bisexual, i have medium length blonde hair & bangs. my hobbies mostly consist of playing video games or writing. i love art & music!! i love the horror genre sm! i ADORE cats & love anyone else who does too:) i (think) i see myself as more of a survivor, although killer could always be fun. i’m pretty quiet/reserved but love having deep conversations & opening up once im close w someone. cuddles r also great!
thank you so much for the support and sorry for the wait. hope these match-ups are good for you! ily
I match you with...
The Pig (Amanda Young)
Amanda’s a pretty tough person to get through to. She has been through a lot of shit in her life, gone to the edge of addiction and death and came back a changed woman. Even now in the world of the Entity, Amanda is still determined and resilient. She decided not to view the survivors as people but rather as test subjects, sinners who need rehabilitation for their lack of appreciating life. Well, that was John’s take on why they did what they did and Amanda, no matter how hard she tried to be what her mentor wanted her to be, she was always just not good enough. She had resigned herself to the Entity’s will and succumb to her craving for nonsensical violence. That was until she met you.
You are quiet and reserved and Amanda really likes that. You can sit in the corner of her workroom, undisturbing and still, and she could focus on her work. Amanda is very much like a cat herself; don’t come to her for affection, she will come to you. Eventually. But there is no denying that if you were to approach her slowly, tentatively placing your head on the small of her back, Amanda would give in and offer you what little warmth she could provide.
Amanda finds you most interesting when you express your attentiveness to the macabre. Despite being on the receiving end of all the hurt and torture her and those like her dish out to you, when times get quiet you get extremely inquisitive. You wander around her realm picking up pieces of scraped designs for past traps and you ask Amanda about them. She entertains you and describes in horrific detail how each trap intended to work and how that person had to fight to survive. She expected you to react negatively, or at least cringe at the mention of the various ways a man’s body would be twisted until it broke, but you showed no reaction. You nodded your head deep in thought before nonchalantly prodding her for more information. How strange you were to her, so weak to the advances of the very things that intrigue you. Amanda would sigh before grabbing your head and shoving it into her chest. She’d place her pig-mask chin on the top of your head and you could hear her chest rumble as she spoke. “Don’t.” Her voice was coarse and there was a slight worry to it, it sounded as if she was... scared. “Don’t be like that. Stay pure.” You’d let her hold you a moment longer before you would take over and envelope her in your own arms. You swear you felt her ease into your embrace, safe and comfortable within your walls. Nothing more was said between you two but an unspoken truth formed. No matter what, you would never change, never be tainted and you would always, always, be hers.
Nea Karlsson
When Nea first encountered you in a trial, she found you to be the most annoying and helpless individual she had ever seen. “Outta my way!” She was in the middle of a very intense chase and had mistakenly led the killer right to your cowering position. She tried her best to save you, even though you angered her by your quiet nature which came off to her as being snobby and stuck-up. In the end, however, when the gates were open and she was on the hook, you were the one to risk it all and save her. Later on, when you two were safe by the eternal campfire, you approached the girl and apologized for your ignorance and for getting her hurt. Nea softened at your words and patted the log next to her. You sat with her and from then onwards you two were inseparable.
If the two of you were in a trial together, the killers would never stand a chance of winning. Nea had taught you all her tricks and you picked them up very quickly. The other survivors had taken to calling you both cats, or something along those lines. It was like you both had a second sense, an all-knowing knowledge of what the killer was doing and how best to counter their actions. Many times, Nea and you could be found at the opened exit gates waiting for your poor victim to show their face and accept their disgraceful defeat. Nea would throw provocative gestures at the distant killer and you would scold her (half-heartedly, of course, you loved watching her flaunt herself). Once you throw the middle finger at The Ghostface and told him to go sit on a dick. Nea laughed and at that moment knew she loved you.
In between trials, the two of you would sneak off into the forest to do ‘naughty’ things. Like spray-paint stupid pictures on the walls of the Macmillian Coal-Tower or throw rocks at the car windows in Auntohaven until they broke. You nearly got caught by the Wraith once and while crouched in a corner, Nea had placed herself over you, her body acting like a shield and her hands on either side of your head. When the coast was clear and she turned to face you, you leaned forward and placed your first kiss on her lips. It was the first time you had ever seen Nea blush and it was so cute.
Alternative match-ups: The Ghostface (Danny ‘Jed Oslen’ Johnson), Feng Min

MacMillan Library Embargo
For those who missed the news in the publishing world... Publisher MacMillan has announced it will embargo library ebook sales for 8 weeks after the release of each new title. That means that for the first 56 days of the book’s life on the shelves each library can only buy one ebook copy.
This has made people very angry because of disability rights, the right of people to access books, and the fact that libraries are using tax payer money and so tax payers should be able to determine which books are bought and how many.
I am really torn on this issue for a list of reasons...
1) The embargoes sell books. If every library has 20 copies of a book there's a limited wait time and very little incentive to buy individual copies of the book. 2) The limit lasts for only 8 weeks. The library can go out and buy 100 more ebooks on Day 57. Which is what a lot of libraries do anyway. They wait, check the wait list, and then buy extra copies to meet the demand. 3) Yes, everyone deserves to have access to books, but that doesn't mean you are guaranteed access to any book right away for free. Your library is certainly not buying every single title released in the English language. There were over a million books released last year, your local library probably bought fewer than 500 new books. And the argument that you *deserve* access to an ebook is not good for the authors who need to get *paid* for their work. 4) The embargo means more money for a wider variety of authors. Instead of buying 15 copies of the latest John Grisham title (or whatever big author MacMillian has) the library can buy one hardcover, one ebook, and spend the money for the other 13 books on lesser-known authors who are also awesome. 5) Supporting libraries means you also need to support the authors writing the books that you get at the libraries. Yes, your local library is free because everything in it is covered by your tax dollars. But what you don't see is food and housing for the authors, cover artists, editors, and other people who put the work into creating those books you enjoy. Your tax dollars aren't feeding, housing, or caring for authors and their families so you can have free books. Your tax dollars are paying for the book. An $8 mass market book probably has a $12 library copy and that $12 is split between the cost of printing/formatting, the cover artists, the editors, the marketing team, and the author.
Everyone worked very hard for several years and walked home with $1 for a book that will be read, on average, 30 times before it is replaced. The ebook never needs to get replaced.
If all you do is support the libraries without thinking of the machinery behind the books, you support a system that makes it easy for the rich and privileged to write and limits the ability of the people you are trying to help to have a voice in publishing. The disabled. The elderly. The foster kid. The single parent. The minority who works multiple jobs to pay the bills... none of them get to break into publishing if they can't earn enough from writing to keep them alive. Ebooks for all is a great idea! Everyone should have access to books!
But everyone should also be able to write and publish and survive off their hard work if they want to. The less authors get paid, the more publishing becomes the playground of the rich and privileged.
And - no - that is not something self-publishing can fix. Self-publishing requires cash up front and is the absolute worst way for a poor author to build a career. Self-publishing is pay-to-play and with a million books released in English each year you need to have time to market and brand yourself if you want an indie publishing career. ... okay, I guess I'm less torn now that I've thought about it.
I want books to be accessible to everyone, but I think publishing needs to be accessible to everyone too. And for that to happen, publishers need to defend the sales of the books their authors created.
If that means someone has to wait 57 days for the library to get a second ebook copy, I'm okay with that.
