i found a stardew valley character portrait maker (link here) which progressed into making Jules a lil profile!!! (template here if you wanna make your own) it was actually a really thought provoking exercise, trying to figure out what he'd like and dislike was difficult, but here are some reasons under the cut

Loves:

Pepper- Jules likes spicy stuff

Snail- definitely the type to crouch down and watch a snail move around for an hour or two

Duck Feather- since he spends so much time outside he definitely gathers little treasures like bird feathers

Nekoite- same reason as the duck feather essentially, also pink and sparkly

Fruit Salad- i think jules eats a lot of fruit tbh, not just because he's a big ole fruit himself. i think he'd like nothing more than chowing down on some fruit salad (yummy yummy)

Dandelion- similar to duck feather/nekoite, but he als just genuinely thinks they're pretty and loves making wishes on them

Honey- he likes sweet things :-)

Dislikes:

Beer- brings back the ~trauma~ from his childhood, also generally thinks it tastes bad

Caviar- he thinks it's gross and also doesn't like the whole connotation with the wealthy elite

Parsnip- icky

Seaweed- he hates being touched by it, it's one of his least favorite textures and deeply upsets him

Coffee- too bitter and icky, also reminds him of his dad

Pale Ale- same reason as beer

Friends:

Krobus- jules definitely loves the spooky little guy and finds him fascinating, he likes to listen to Krobus tell him about where he came from

Dwarf- Similar to Krobus

Bear- just like how he loves Teddy!!

Linus- I think they'd have a lot to talk about tbh, nature, simple things, living a nomadic lifestyle, etc

Sandy- I just think their personalities would mesh really well and they'd end up really good buddies

How to degrease bones? (With the easiest and cheapest method!)

Bone cleaning is quite a journey - and honestly degreasing is the part I find a tad confusing. Questions like: how long it will take? Does it work in cold water as well? Is it done? Is it doing anything at all?

As a beginner bone collector, who also doesn't want to put a huge amount of money into it and finding an acceptable way to clean bones is essential. Mainly because of the challenge, - tbh it is quite enjoyable for me to create quality bones with a less amount of investment, it just makes me feel like I really worked for it, I love these challenges - but mostly because it is already difficult to make my family accept this kind of a hobby of mine. Not many people are fond of keeping rotting animal parts at home, I can tell you that! If this hobby turns out to be stinky and expensive, that is definitely a no from family members. And even though I am an adult, making my own money, my husband does have a saying about the family funds - because we are both responsible for this family - so it is important for me to keep things at a reasonable price.

There are many ways to degrease bones and you have to pay a price for it either way, be it about the time period the degreasing takes or the used materials. You can degrease bones chemically, using liquids like ammonia or acetone, but personally, I dislike these, because:

it requires some effort to put your hand on this stuff, they can be hard to come by

they can be harmful to your health (ammonia is not nice to work with)

they can be expensive, and we already have to buy H2O2

they have to be stored and get rid of properly - you cannot just let these go down in your sink

and some materials can be straightforward and dangerous - read about some pros are using stuff like petrol for degreasing and while it does the job, petrol is extremely unstable, highly flammable and tend to blow up easily, so super no!

So, I go with the safest and also the cheapest solution: dish soap.

Dish soap is something that is easy to come by, can be super cheap and the water system is well prepared to clean grey water, so you can pour dish soap into your sink. However, it can take time to degrease your bones. While ammonia or acetone can be done with degreasing under a day (depends on the size of the skull and species of the animal), dish soap takes a lot longer: days at the best, months at the worst. But this is also the easiest degreasing method for beginners.

But there is another big question: how do you know your degreasing is working (and when it is done)?

When I started to even think about degreasing I went online, read about dish soap and was happy because everyone has dish soap at hand, so I picked a pot, filled it with cold water, pour the dish soap in, put the bones in and yay, magic was done! But things are not this simple.

The first days everything went fine: my water had fat oil drops at the surface and a visible white cloud came out of the bones, so a clear sign of the degreasing is working. But this stage went down quickly, like a matter of days - and I thought okay, degreasing is done, time to pull the skulls out and whiten. But my whitening never turned out white, rather like light grey and first I blamed my peroxide because of it, then my bones. These are findings from nature, probably they are stained, right?

I started to be doubtful when my cat skull turned out to be sticky after whitening. That never happened before, so another research later I came to the conclusion the cat that I thought are fully degreased is actually not degreased. But it didn't do a thing in the pot anymore. So what did I do wrong?

I used cold water. Apparently cold water works, but only for a while. It cannot really pull out the grease that is hiding deep inside the bone - that's why I stopped seeing white cloud after a matter of days, falsely thinking I am done. I needed warm water in the long run - if I simply use warm tap water that just runs cold way too quickly. It can be done with warm tap water as well, but that takes even longer. So, I bought an aquarium heater.

I looked after the fat oil drops in the water. They appeared on the first day, so I thought they will keep appearing until I am done. Turns out they don't? Rather the water slowly goes more opaque and murky with time, but no more fat drops don't matter how hard I am looking for them. This makes my job significantly difficult because oil drops are easier to spot and tell based on them if the degreasing is working or if I am actually done.

I am just super imapetient. I want my skull done and perfect as soon as possible. But it just doesn't work like that. I am working on this cat skull for 3 weeks now and it is still going: I had to macerate it, then degrease it, then whiten it, and then go back to degreasing and all I wanna do is glue it together and post fancy pictures of it. Won't happen for a while, time to accept that.

But how this opaque water progress looks like? I was so confused about is it clear water, is it dirty water, is it done, whether the water is warm enough or not, so I started to document the process.

This is the freshwater stage. I just changed the water and quickly snapped a pic of it, making it my reference piece. I can clearly see all the details of my bones, even if my dish soap is yellow, colouring my water a bit - but I can see through the water without any problem. My heater can do 36 Celsius degrees max, otherwise, it cooks the fish in the tank, so I put that on max, hoping it will be enough. About the temperature: I did read about 46 Celsius or even more than 50 Celsius for water temperature, but the aquarium heater cannot reach those degrees, because the main goal is to keep fish alive and no fish stays alive in 40+ water. I could use a bucket heater, but for me, that is harder to get and I really don't want a setting that takes a lot of space/costs a lot of money, so an aquarium heater it is.

Another thing I am not comfortable to put my bones in more than 50 Celsius degrees. This is my personal choice, but I really wanna avoid any chance of accidentally cooking my bones, and 50 seems to be too much heat.

I looked back at it an hour later and snapped another pic: and look, we start to get blurry details! No oil drops on the surface, but something definitely makes the water murky: my water is not hot enough to cook the bones, so it cannot dissolve or take any kind of damage in my bones, so this stuff must be grease! Seems like the heater works!

Checked the bones that evening as well and the water is definitely even more opaque!

And this is the next day: I can barely see my bones anymore, so definitely time to change the water.

Conclusion

If you think you are done with your bones, but they:

have yellow spots or wax on them

stick to your hand like you glued them

are shining here or there

have a waxy feeling

smells

Then your degreasing is not done. The good news is you can always go back to degreasing, doesn't matter if you whitened the bones or not.

The cheapest version of degreasing is the dish soap version and you will need warm water for it! It can be a good idea to get an aquarium heater because that will help you to macerate carcasses during the winter as well and quickens degreasing too. You can work with warm tap water, but that takes even longer.

But the dish soap method really takes time! Seems like this part is the longest one in skull cleaning. So even if it seems like my degreasing is not over and my method works, I can also see I won't have a pretty white cat skull anytime soon.

The bones are bathing for the third day in a row now and they seem to release the same amount of grease, so no sign of clear water yet. Also, when I pull the bones out of the water I can still see yellow spots on it - that is grease, sweeping to the surface and I need to get rid of that.

And how I will know my degreasing is done? My water stops being opaque. I can decide when to pull my bones out - do I want to fully degrease it or I decide to end it sooner because I want some discolouration, preserving am roe natural look.... that is up to me. Ideally, I wanna do a full degrease, but I just wanna preserve my bones perfectly to have quality art references that will be with be for a long time, so I try to go for a full degrease and will see how long that takes.

So just take your time, change your water as needed and enjoy the process :3 You cannot harm your bones this way, so happy experimenting!

Some Brahms Heelshire headcanons that have been little worms rotting my brain for a while. I want to understand him better <3

Many of these are x reader bc I couldn’t help myself

Starting with some ‘common knowledge’ stuff I generally agree on: yes, he is a sweaty boy. I actually think he has more anxiety than you might initially think he has, and this nervousness sort of goes towards causing it.

I touched on this in my Brahms fic months ago but this man really needs a routine in his life. He needs consistency and structure, and doesn’t react well to sudden change. He needs to approve of every nanny that is offered to him, they can’t just be introduced without his say-so. Nor can any of his rules be broken or altered, or ever strayed from. He’s very particular about certain things and what he likes and dislikes. Put it this way: if he isn’t pleased with something, you will know one way or the other.

His diet is very predictable and simple - some might even say bland - and this is also along the same line as this need for routine. Side note, but I think if you gave him spicy food he’d probably die or something… He’s English after all kwkdflf

Being confined inside the walls of the Heelshire estate most of the time has led to him developing a touch of Agoraphobia. He’s also definitely an indoors person, while I believe he may be able to appreciate the beauty of nature, mostly something like a well-tended garden, he’d prefer to remain at a distance. If he had to choose, he enjoys admiring english roses the most. He wouldn’t protest much if you decided to bring in a few to put in a vase.

Also, the vast amounts of time Brahms has on his hands (when not spent watching his nanny or parents, when they were still alive) goes towards cultivating his many hobbies; and he has many different interests. He may not have been part of any public schooling system, but that doesn’t really mean anything, he absorbs information eagerly regardless. He’s an avid reader and probably knows the Heelshire mansion’s library inside and out at this point, with both fiction and non-fiction (although you just know he was raised on a diet of pre-approved classics) catching his interest. Some of these beloved favourites are quite weathered and worn-out now. You know the kind I’m talking about, hanging practically by a thread from the spine…

Brahms is also a big music guy. His parents probably were as well. I mean, I personally believe they named him after the composer. We see in the movie that the music needs to be played loud, probably so he can hear reverberating all through the house (although tbh the way the house is, it doesn’t take that much. He still just wants it LOUD). Given that we can see a violin in his room, as well as sheet music, I think he can play both it and the piano. It would’ve been difficult for him to stop enjoying this, since he had to pretend he didn’t exist when a nanny/Greta was there.

Before the fire, his parents (particularly his mother) saw his upstart skill with music as the potential to become the next great composer, and pushed him towards improving it. Even if these expectations caused some stress for him back then, Brahms still loves playing dearly now.

He also sees this as an opportunity to impress upon you that he’s incredibly suave and attractive and cultured™️ so that you’ll stay. In his mind, if he comes across as interesting enough, he’ll have a better chance of wooing you into permanent residence in his house. That grocery boy is his sworn enemy in part because, deep down, he‘s self-aware enough to know that there are many difficulties to being with a man like him. Brahms is a complex mixture of quite spoiled and entitled vs insecurity, and he doesn’t enjoy confronting these thoughts either.

Oh, as for how he’d react to new music that isn’t classical, I don’t think it would entirely be a hatred for something new. While there may be a period of ‘what is this s/o this is not on the schedule?’ Brahms is a curious boy at heart, a man who was sequestered from the rest of the world and had much of his knowledge intake restricted, particularly by his mother. It will not be an immediate appreciation from him, but I think that this curiosity - and his desire to get to know you better - will win over in the end.

While I know it’s popular consensus that he’s a horny boy and very clingy and touch starved, (which I agree with to some degree), I also think one thing he’s been missing his entire life is good, intelligent conversation. His parents tended to talk at him rather than to him, and, well… It’s left him quite isolated and lonely, only able to imagine making a human connection through novels and daydreams. Brahms is one of the few slashers who does speak and I think he can speak quite well and eloquently. This might surprise you if you’ve gotten used to the doll persona, but Brahms the man is so real, so raw, and he’s formed an unbreakable bond with you before you’ve even realised he exists. He craves a genuine connection with you that goes beyond just lust, and I honestly believe he can be gentle. We see how tenderly he treats the Greta doll for instance, how it seems to be well looked after and given lots of space on his bed. A real person isn’t the same as a body-pillow, but… I don’t think he’d be as terrible a lover as people think.

He absolutely has major attachment issues and separation anxiety though. It only gets worse after Greta, after his parents… And yeah, he is clingy as fuck. Brahms can get addicted to actual, physical human touch very quickly. For far too long, he’s been substituting with pillows and dolls; but he’s had quite enough of dolls, now. I can honestly see him developing some resentment towards the thing, because although it has been his ‘persona’ for many years, it isn’t really him. Basically, once he’s revealed himself, Brahms could care less what happens to it… It might be therapeutic for him to even smash it himself, yeah? It’s a tantrum he needs to throw.

Anyway on a lighter note, it gets very draughty in the Heelshire mansion - it’s old, after all. He’s a hound for cuddles all the time, but especially during the winter months because he’s desperate for some heat and human connection. He enjoys lying on top of you like some kind of weighted blanket, and also likes it when you do the same to him. Curl up on his fuzzy chest and pour over a book together, it’s practically mandatory at this point <3

I can’t see him wanting children with you at all, sorry. He’s way too selfish honestly lol. He hogs your affection and love day and night and he’s pretty shameless about it. Besides, he’s just not father material to be entirely honest. he’s your baby why do you want another one

Also any pets you have are on on thin ice… He wouldn’t hurt them (I wouldn’t like to believe so anyway) but he’s always jealous and sulky if he thinks you’re spending more time with them than him, even if it’s like. Five more minutes yes he has a record, probably a calendar or something. He tends to plop his curly head on your lap and demand you stroke it and lavish your attention on him until he’s satisfied. Which will probably be never tbh.

i’m glad you’ve been enjoying it :D!! i really like writing for rollo myself <3 a lot of my headcanons differ from mage vs. magicless reader, so honestly it’s always a bit hard to balance them HAHA i tend to focus mostly on magicless reader since mc is one, and otherwise i’d be writing two sets of headcanons for every post. pls feel free to ask for stuff with mage reader tho :3!!

Ideals: What kind of future do they have in mind for/with their darling?

Rollo likes to think of a calm and simple future with you. In a world without magic, where no one will be senselessly harmed any longer, and he’s found peace within himself. After he’s fulfilled his ultimate goal, what more could he hope to achieve with his life? The rest of his days, he could devote to you, and never grow bored of it. He doesn’t want extravagance or excitement, just you would be enough. In his fantasies, neither of you ever has to work or leaves to meet with friends. It’s just the two of you.

More specifically, he imagines a small, happy wedding, with one chair left empty for his little brother. He imagines living in a small home in the City of Flowers, or a cottage in walking distance from the city walls; he could never go far from his beloved city. Rollo enjoys the thought of himself baking for you, though whatever he makes will likely pale in comparison to the bakeries he loves so much.

Love letters: How would they go about courting or approaching their darling?

Rollo yearns for quite a while, as he believes his personal feelings shouldn’t take precedence over his goal. None of this is your fault, and he is not upset with you for it. As his plans begin to fall more and more into place, he may be more likely to approach you. Before that, he still watches you whenever he has the chance, and zones out if you’re in his field of vision. He has extensive notes on you, your likes and dislikes, your family tree, and all of your social connections. If he’s particularly smitten, you could find yourself having a ‘secret admirer’, leaving letters in flawless handwriting accompanied by a croissant or some local sweets.

Once he finally makes up his mind to approach you, he can hardly contain himself. His hands are folded behind his back, otherwise you would see how much he’s fidgeting. Rollo’s face is as calm as it would be at any other time. If not for the blush creeping onto his face, you wouldn’t be able to tell anything was amiss.

“May I have a moment of your time?” He would say, lightly bowing his head. Rollo would ask you out on a date, or an ‘outing’ as he calls it, promising to show you all of the beauty the city has to offer, and ensuring you’ll enjoy yourself.

Hell: What would be their darling’s worst experience with them?

Sweat beads on your forehead, despite your distance from the fire. Rollo is pressed against your back as he leans his full weight against you, his chest stuttering with how fast he’s breathing. He’s clutching the railing so tightly that his knuckles are white. Below you, the world has descended into a hellscape of flames, yelling, and raw desperation. Some of them are your friends, and some of them you might not have known as well, but still- You cannot believe they were deserving of this fate. He presses his face against you. Rollo is shaking all over, and so does his voice.

“As foolish as they are... These villains’ salvation is truly a beautiful sight to behold, isn’t it?”

Xoanon: How much would they revere or worship their darling? To what length would they go to win their darling over?

You are different from him. Where he is inherently cursed, burdened by magic, you are pure and clean existence. The sinner, and the saint, extending their hand to him in their endless mercy. Though he wouldn’t go as far as to directly worship you, he very much considers you as more valuable and worthy than himself. Even once he is fully ‘cleansed’, he’d continue to be hard on himself when it comes to you. He takes your opinion of him very, very seriously.

If you were to deny him, you would really be putting him in a tough position. Rollo feels guilty about placing the burden of his feelings on you, but he can’t rid himself of them either. You’ve rooted yourself in his mind, and he cannot get you out. He would try to become friends with you instead, trying to convince himself that it would be enough, all the while lying to himself. Rollo would constantly be teetering on the edge of giving in. There would come a moment he would snap and give into temptation, apologising while he does so and forever cursing himself, but secretly being glad to finally being able to touch you.

also. i was going to ask this before but i didnt know how to word it: any zelda tropes you like/dislike? stuff like fairies being guides for link or the concept of sages/Legendary Sword or how link and zelda are always depicted or reoccurring characters like impa or beedle or epona. though theres probably not. a lot of tropes considering most games are vastly different from each other. uhh yeah if youve got nothing . things that were done from a zelda game that you liked?

OOH. tbh I had to think about this a bit (my gripes are usually with the fandom and how they depict the tropes as a Strict Narrative Rule) but! I do have some

Number one has got to be making link into a super special boy for basically no reason!!! being from a special type of knights is. so irrelevant to everything else about alttp link that I think a lot of people legitimately forget this. it barely ever comes up and it's honestly not that important to the story except as an excuse for why link's the only one that can grab the pendants and pull the master sword, which. why not just have him be the one to do this because he's just really determined? Ocarina of Time...tried this, sort of? almost completely irrelevant AGAIN. in twilight princess and wind waker they are just some guy basically and this is the best direction they could have gone with his character. except they ruined it in botw and ss and I will neverrrr forgive them for this. botw link beats up grown men at five years old he's like superbaby instant knight and I HATE it. it's just stupid. I don't even care that it applies pressure to him as a character and seems to affect him; they could have just made it an in-universe lie and it would have had the exact same effect so genuinely screw that trope

number two is calling random soldiers knights stop fucking doing this. i dont care that its fictional fantasyland it annoys me

number three! the 3D games' great fairies! I hate almost all of them the oot/mm great fairies are freaks, botw ones are so pretty but they're creepy as hell, and twilight princess is just a naked lady and it's stupid I hate her. wind waker minish cap and alttp fairies are gongeous though

number four. everyone thinking link is cool and or hot. I hate this in universe and in the fandom. I don't care that the devs wanted to make him """"cool"""" he's 100% always a LOSER!!!!

number five I hate the hijacked by ganon trope in zelda games so much. STOP ffs please let ganon/ganondorf take the spotlight we all love him. or let another villain be the main baddie

number seven hyrule with a dark and bloody past. and not only that but a fairly simple presentation of it that's clearly hiding a more complex underbelly. its just neat to see simple, clear-cut writing tell you so much with so little. it's a big reason I love alttp; it's simple but there's so much grief in it

my 2 cents on sub makers and pAiD manifestation material

okay so this is my first post and i don’t even know how to use this thing but here we go. Firstly, I just wanna make it clear that I don’t hate anyone but I do dislike the ideas/concepts of some individuals which ends up also reflecting in the people who follow them. Let’s start with some submakers first, tbh I’ve stopped using subs religiously now and I’m so happy ab it bc earlier I used to have this mindset that I needed to listen to this sub for atleast 30mins for many weeks to get visible results even tho I knew I’m limitless but I was still kinda paranoid and stuff bc the submakers would give warnings *listen to this atleast for an hour* and in the end of their description they would write ✨remember you’re limitless✨ Am I? Are you? Honestly, I feel like so many submakers have still not grasped the whole concept of manifesting when it’s literally so easy and it doesn’t really matter what you believe in be it law of assumption or law of attraction. The main point is to know that you already have it and can have it no matter what. Some submakers even used to rant about it when they would share their personal problems and people would recommend them to use the law like why are you still so frustrated? Don’t you believe in it? They would go like “ugh I absolutely hate it when I share my problems and people would recommend me manifestation!” . I feel like majority of the submakers (not all) keep their knowledge limited to subs and preach/teach it to their followers bc let’s be real if you’re really a master manifestor, would you doubt your or other’s abilities? Would you really be concerned about petty topics? WOULD YOU REALLY WANT PEOPLE TO PAY YOU SO THAT YOU CAN COACH THEM WITH THE MOST BASIC CONCEPTS WHOSE RESOURCES CAN BE FOUND FOR FREE WITH AN EVEN BETTER EXPLANATIONAND QUALITY?😱😱😱 to some extent its still understandable that they’re taking their time out of their lives to create smth new so they’re charging for it a lil but I want y’all to know that it’s not a practical source of income that you’re aggressively trying to turn this into. luca balsa general/random hcs⚡

let's start off with his looks. homeboy is 174cm tall (a little shorter than 5'9), quite lanky and with weird posture - not suprising considering how many hours he spends looming over the blueprints for his newest invention

he has a *small* overbite from getting kicked in the jaw in the prison, and his black eye is often tearing

tbh i'm convinced his ahoge(s) stands up on its own bc haha. electricity

speaking of electricity, he has lightning scars over his chest, back, arms and thighs ever since he got injured in the incident, they even reach to his neck! he's not really proud of them but he doesn't consider them a big deal either, just another cool trait

overall, his traumatic past and damaged body do NOT stop him from having a smug grin on his face 24/7 and popping up behind you out of nowhere just to playfully criticize your work

he might be a big critic but he's also extremely supportive, he's always there to hype you up and motivate you to finish whatever goal you set

he's quite well mannered! he just can't help it

has a pretty rich vocabulary too

he seems really cocky and smug when you first meet him but he's really a sweetheart

he's pretty competitive - he also hates being wrong or even admitting that he's wrong

i also hc him as part serbo-croatian, part italian! while his father was extra busy during summer or winter he would send him over to serbia and/or croatia to his relatives so he wouldn't be a nuisance since school was over

he's pretty disconnected from his serbo-croatian heritage considering he stopped visiting and that he isn't really fluent in the languages, but he still enjoys the food and the curse words (they slip out. sometimes. when he starts panicking)

has adhd and auditory processing issues

forgets a lot, both stuff he does on a daily basis and the stuff from the past

since the damage on his brain affected his motor system, he wears braces on his legs to help him walk - they actually go up to his thighs, but he wears smaller ones since they are lighter and it's easier to run around in them during matches

on most days he can run perfectly fine, on the others he can barely stand up by himself

some days he has to rely on other survivors to carry him around because his legs are quite literally paralyzed and it hurts to walk

also prone to fainting, mostly when he's burned out by decoding or running out of stamina during a kite

his sleeping schedule is a mess honestly he sleeps for 3 hours at night and then naps 4 hours in total during the day

when he's about to nap he is willing to use basically anything as a pillow - another survivor's shoulder, the rocket chair, the cipher machine or even the hunter's robes

likely slept through a rocket chair launching

he's not a picky eater but he does dislike salty and overly bitter food

even with all the luxurious and flavorful food available, he still often resorts to eating simple foods like bread and butter

permanently banned from the manor's kitchen in fear that he'll set it on fire

he loves toys! especially ones with various mechanisms and powered by batteries, he likes breaking them down to find out how they really work

annie almost cried when she found him inspecting the mechanism of a toy car with the other parts of the toy laying around

he really values the little things, like having his hair combed or washed, hugs, having dessert after dinner and finding small parts and trinkets around

being in prison really taught him to appreciate them more, compared to when he was growing up where he often took them for granted

LOOVES getting praised. he mostly keeps his emotions under control but once you start praising his work, kite, invention or something else he's gonna be all red and hiding his face with his hands

when he's not in a match he's in his room working or napping most of the time

...but he does enjoy company! a visit accompanied by a cup of tea will really make his day

is it obvious that i absolutely adore this man

Hi! So I've got a question, what are your opinions and thoughts on the YouTuber, "Vanitymoth" he's kinda a Murder Drones reviewer and has done a couple of content related to the series, I'm interested if you heard of him or see his contact and I wanted to know your thoughts, it looks like he'll also be reviewing EP 6 which is probably gonna be negative because that's just how he is unfortunately.

And that's honestly my main issue with him, now it's fine having opinions and being honest and not sugar coding anything, but it just feels like this dude is negative about almost everything he reviews (somebody even pointed that out in his comments+ community post and said that's just how he rolls) he isn't fun, funny and just not entertaining. And he's also kinda boring to listen to as well, imo and just not very fun to watch, he also made a horrible and trashfire review of Lackadaisy. It also feels like him and others are kinda turning on Murder Drones and are disliking it because of it's story direction...and it makes me wonder sometimes, is MD REALLY a bad show and not as good as we thought, and do fans just have their rose tinted glasses on and are only trying to see the positive side and ignore criticism? Do you believe the show is good, or is it going downhill like others have been saying? I'm still new to the show myself and wanted to know your thoughts on this, it kinda does feel sad people are turning on MD (people still wanna compare it to shows like HB, some have said it's going downhill and turning bad like that show) as I think it's still a unique and watchable show and it honestly deserves it's love and support, it's not perfect..but I still feel saddened it's being hated and torn apart now by some, especially by some toxic fans, fans on reddit and Vanitymoth himself. :(

Honestly that guy probally has a very biased opinion on the show at this point. It never feels like he gets satisfied with anything from the show anymore. (And i really feel like it has something to do with Nuzi )

And all the bad reviews i have been seeing can be resumed to a simple "Its not the same thing that used to be" or "this is not the direction i wanted" tbh

I guess they thought Liam was a edgy guy who only enjoys creepy and meta dark edgy stuff. They din't expect to the guy to be an actual writter lmfao

Am i saying this show is perfect? Ofc not. But all the reviews i have seen so far from the people who dont have any weird bias are saying this episode was one of the most greatest yet, im not a writter but i can totally agree with that, in the same way i agreed with them with how "home" really was one of the weakest/most confusing

I honestly don't think majority of these guys are giving genuine criticism, they just really weren't expecting to the show to go to such an emotinal direction.

If you ever see any blog or post with a person giving GENUINE criticism feel free to send it to me to talk about it! But for now i cant really take those guys seriously, they all sound so petty and childish

Even the comments of his community post are saying "if you dont think this episode was good idk what to tell you" lmfaool

Also, If they really think dead end was a weak episode they are INSANE these people are blind hello?????

Honestly the way fans treat Steve made me dislike him tbh.

He objectively is the most privilaged character but he constantly get baby-fied whereas other actual abuse survivors get trashed.

So, Steve gets to 'change' and can be seen as a good guy after his bullying, sexism and homophobia but Billy is the most evil person in the world who doesnt even get to redeem himself bc he is that evil and bad and beyond redemption and he 'had it coming' even after the abuse he's suffered?

Objectively Steve doesnt have an abusive life or a family condition. He is not poor, he is not alienated. That is why the fandom comes up with made up stuff to make Steve seem 'oppressed' in some way.

The hypocrisy is real. People do not like abusive survivors. They want fabricated abuse survivors or ''good'' abuse survivors.

Billy was just a teenager who didn't hurt or kill anyone. People saying shit like ''He actually enjoyed being an abuser in S3'' seem to be missing the point. Even if you do not like Billy as a character/person, the fact is that he was abused, his mind and body were used against him to kill other people. Despite everything he still showed courage to fight and save the teenagers and you gonna say he would actually run over and kill them with his car? THE DUDE LITERALLY SACRIFICED HIMSELF he wasn't going to run over the kids with his car for real!

I think people confuse hyperarousal and the addiction to violence that comes with PTSD, with enjoyment.

I had a coworker whose research was in PTSD and gang violence, and I can't explain it very well but in her research, she talked about how when someone is raised in a violent environment, their brain starts to associate violence with excitement and there's this addictive, hyperarousal that occurs whenever they're put in a violent situation. The brain prepares them for the violence. For fighting.

I've experienced something similar. I have to consciously calm myself because my natural reaction to violence is to get "excited." That doesn't mean I enjoy it, though. I think in his fight with Steve he was in that state of excitement, and it started with his dad abusing him. It already put him on the edge. It doesn't mean he enjoyed it. It does mean he actually needs therapy to cope.

This is also what I mean when I talk about how the way we talk about people with PTSD can be pretty ableist. You don't have to justify a person's violence, but you sure do have to understand that the brains of survivors don't necessarily work the way that they should and it's not a simple matter of choosing to be better. It takes a lot of therapy and institutional supports in general to cope better.

I still don't think Steve has had much character growth. I think his redemption comes from privilege - his ability to buy his way into acceptance. I don't think they truly gave him the opportunity to cope better, but considering how classist the D Bags have been with their characters, it's no surprise that they treat redemption in a very classist manner.

I don't hate Steve. I don't think there's a problem with exploring the possibility of neglect and/or abuse with Steve. I do have a problem with the way people ignore how privilege plays a part in their judgement, and I do have a problem with people making ableist statements about bad survivors.

this specific cyno piece sticks out to me in particular. sometimes i just think about it, the descriptions and prose, and it just makes me want to write!! the line about people surrounding the reader like bees to honey is just?? idk, it's simple but something about it... <333 i remember reading that line for the first time and just being kind of awe-struck by it, i just loved the thought of likening a crowd of people to bees; added with the thought that the reader is as sweet as honey, in this case. just so so nice!! definitely one of my inspirations <3

HEY. i dont wanna LOL JKFLDJKFLDS truth be told i dont actually HATE hate many characters. it's usually only ones that are like. token creep characters or REALLY super nasty and i dont WANNA talk about those so im gonna CHEAT and just do what i suspect im baited into doing and talk about a character i. hmm. Used To Strongly Dislike. i was a hater but i dont know that i ever really FULLY hated him. but i def disliked him for a while at first lol

and in terms of twst there are at least four characters this could be describing but i have to do leona bc ive had the most character development with my feelings about him kljsdklfjdsklfjklsdj

he really is so smart and perceptive. it's super interesting when i go back and reread stories and how he's shown to either directly or maybe heavily implied to know/suspect something that's going on far before most of the other characters do. he doesnt always. say anything about it to people 🧍 JKFLSDJFKLDS but it IS cool how you can see he's like, paying attention. he's got experience!

it's kinda sweet when he actually does, sometimes, show his care for the younger students. like in rook's lab coat story when epel accidentally bumps into him, and the npc talking to rook is like OH GOD!!! but rooks like nono, it's okay, leona knows not to just pick a fight with a random student for no reason. <- me calling it sweet when leona doesnt bitch at someone i guess LOL but!!! jfkdsjflds it is. and then in book 6 at the start when everyones getting ROBOT KIDNAPPED, this goes hand in hand with my first point - leona recognized the charon soldiers, clocked that they were dangerous, fighting was futile and risky, and just surrendered himself and told ruggie to not start a fight and to just look after the dorm while he was gone, if he ever came back. i was sooooo grumpy at that scene for so long bc of how COOL he was and i did not like admitting leona was being cool ever LOL JFKLSJDFKLDSJLJ but he was 😔 ive come to terms with it. AND in the jpn server's halloween event playful land, [mild beginning of event spoilers to anyone reading this i guess lol] the fact that he showed up late at night to bring everyone back so they wouldnt get in themselves trouble.... like he SAID it's bc he just didnt wanna get blamed for it later, but like, iirc he aimed his lecture at the ENTIRE GROUP, not just jack who he's dorm responsible for. he showed up early morning/middle of the night to do it too, when hes the king of I Love Sleeping. he probably coulda sent ruggie to do it but it was his turn to be in the event so he came and did it himself;;; dskfjdlsjfk listen i think leona is pretty straightforward and a bitch but i do think he still has some sense of care for people even though he'd rather die than admit it KFJSDKLFJSELJ

this might be cheating but i listed like three separate examples in the prev point so whatever. he's funny when he fights with vil and malleus JKLFJDSKLFJDSLFJ and i like when characters bitch at each other for comedic purposes. that is a positive point in my book i like LAUGHING at my SCREEN

sometimes disliking/liking something doesnt need to have a deeper meaning than that

"why do you not like X? :( what did they do" idk man i just don't enjoy it and choose not really to engage with it but others can like it idc

"why do you like that? X isnt gonna be helpful in the revolution" idk i just enjoy engaging with it and can acknowledge the flaws it has but just because its nothing revolutionary doesnt mean i still cant enjoy it

i am just tired of everyone thinking something NEEDS to have some sort of moral compass and if it doesnt exactly align with theirs then the thing needs to be "canceled"/makes the consumer a bad person

100% agreed. Sometimes one's reason for not liking a thing is as simple as "it's not for me/I don't vibe with it" and sometimes one's reason for liking something is as simple as "i think it's good". There's no need for moral grandstanding sometimes you just have simple thoughts about a piece of media

I kinda agree and disagree with some of the previous messages on your page.

I’ll date any man that is kind and is attracted to me and that I like. But I can’t fault if some women felt jealous or insecure with the possibility of the man that they fancy, also fancy other men. So in that aspect dating a bisexual man would be impossible for me. They’re valid and I don’t attribute cheating and STDs to them as anyone can do that.

I disagree with the disdain and hate ofc. I’ve met a very nice bi guy at my work before… he told me he dates whoever he likes and doesn’t have any gender preferences and I remember being so baffled by it because it was so new to me and tbh till this day I can’t wrap my head around that. Because gender is the main factor in dating for many people or maybe that’s just how the world sees it.

I wouldn't say gender is the main factor for dating in many people, more of just a prerequisite if that makes sense? I mean for a straight man for example, the prereq for even being an option for him would be being a woman. That's just the baseline because he's only attracted to women, but he wouldn't just date any woman for the sole reason that she's a woman. Most other stuff comes down to your preferences & plain and simple if your personalities are compatible.

As for a woman being more insecure about dating a bi guy than a straight guy; I really dislike this mentality because I feel like it still shows that you think bi men are more likely to cheat just because they have theoretically more options. A straight man is just as capable of cheating as a bi man, even if he would only do it with women whereas a bi man could theoretically cheat with a man. This insecurity about your partner being attracted to someone who's the opposite sex from you is something I've also seen from some lesbians who cite bi women maybe leaving them for a man as a reason that they won't date bi women.

Again, because I really apparently have to spell this out for some people (not you, other people), I am in no way saying that anybody is obligated to include bisexuals in their dating pool. You can be as picky as you want with romantic partners. I am saying that if you are innately more insecure about dating a bisexual because they experience attraction to the sex opposite from yours, maybe you should do some introspection about that because to me that still says you're insecure because you think they're more likely to cheat.

I can see where some people would be coming from with worrying that their bi partner would be attracted to another person of the other sex because you're worried that someone of the other sex can give your partner something that you can't, but again, it stems from the stereotype of bisexuals "not being able to pick just one", being promiscuous, more likely to cheat, etc...

Nobody HAS to date a bi person, your boundaries are your own and you don't owe anyone any explanations, but myself and I'm sure many other bisexuals would appreciate it if more people would think about why they have negative feelings towards us in one form or another and maybe try to unpack that.

What Happened?

So... it's been like a year and a half.

The long and short of it is pretty simple tbh.

The first comic didn't turn out at all how I wanted. I had high hopes and big ambitions, and I'd already spent a year planning, and I didn't want my interest to wane, so I charged into it, doing some stuff I wasn't used to, and it didn't go as planned.

I didn't spend as long on the backgrounds as I should have. The coloring was weird, because I was determined to do the comic in color (I should have gone with a complex grayscale in retrospect). The pacing felt rushed and kind of clunky. I honestly wasn't super happy with most of it except for like 1 background and a handful of panels.

Honestly, I think I rushed it because I really wanted to get it out. I was trying really hard to follow the advice of "just do it," but in all honestly, I think I should have spent more time actually considering that comic and planning it.

Then I started working on the second comic.

I had a plan. I knew how I wanted it to go. I wanted to get into a rhythm of one comic a month. I refused to post it page by page because I really dislike reading comics that way, and I got it into my head that I had to follow these rules regarding "engagement" and "content" and kinda garbage stuff not really suited for someone who just does this as a hobby and not a career.

I was rushing again, and by the time I began lining the 3rd page (out of 12-14), I knew I'd messed up.

The line width was wrong, but the idea of redoing it all was too much. I'd also made the mistake of choosing a very clean line art that took a lot of time, and maybe that did make it easier to color fill, but it wasn't my style and not my preference, and it didn't really make me happy to look at.

Then Tears of the Kingdom was getting more news, and more than anything, it was all the negativity from the fandom surrounding the game before it'd even released that started draining on me. I felt like the joy was slowly getting sucked out of me. I was getting anxious, especially since this was a sequel to a game I'd really enjoyed, a game that had made me fall in love with the series again and had brought me a lot of joy.

I was stressed out by how long the second comic was taking. I wasn't enjoying the process. Everything in the fandom and surrounding TOTK was comic out so negative. And I was suffering a lot for it.

I lost a lot of steam for LoZ and Linked By Time really fast.

Then an old fandom reentered by life, brought me some dopamine, and I kind of dipped.

So here we are. A year and a half later with one comic, some designs, and several doodles under our belt.

Do I still care about this project?

Oh yeah, definitely. I had a lot of plans for this, and I became really fond of my versions of these guys.

What now?

Honestly... probably going to make a separate post for that. I have some thoughts.

For now, that's the long and short of it. Nothing really exciting or interesting. Just a bunch of stress and anxiety tbh.

(About your proship/anti post) tbh it's kinda both sides that don't think critically, but I think the "anti" side is worse about it? Proshippers are usually obnoxious online, but some/most of their views are at least informed by research and studies, whereas a lot of (not all) antis say stuff like "if you put these barbie dolls in this specific situation you are automatically excusing and/or directly causing pedoincest abuse to happen, also if you are a survivor I'm gonna have a savior conplex and demand you find a 'better' coping mechanism. I know better because I'm 15 and take AP psych classes"

Both sides suck overall and the discourse is stupid, but I'd say the "viewing/creating problematic fictional work doesn't automatically brainwash you or define/express your morals or make you a bad person" makes a lot more sense than "liking problematic media makes you an abuser or complicit, and even if someone bypasses all warnings or invades a space they shouldn't be in, it's your fault if they react badly to it. Censor all stuff I dislike now"

Also most "proship" people wouldn't even be doing discourse in the first place, if they weren't getting harassed, doxxed, having to publicly lay out their trauma (if they have any), etc by the anti side over cartoons and video games and books. Abusing/harming real people over fictional content to (not even) prevent hypothetical abuse/harm is, objectively, worse than reacting to said abuse in ways that are annoying or obnoxious, especially when the typically more abusive side has such weird takes that...really don't involve much critical thinking At All, past maybe middle-school-level media literacy

I dont think its that simple tbh. I mean I occupy circles of tumblr that do bat hard against ideas that writing fiction about "problematic" subjects is not inherently harmful (which is true!) but I dont think that belief alone shows a level of "media literacy" whatever you think it means and I don't think implying that people who think differently to you just aren't as educated is really a useful way to engage in discourse. I also don't believe that proshippers who simply yell about intellectualism, critical thinking and media literacy actually do care about those things when someone is critical of their interests for a valid reason (e.g. misogyny).

I think there are probably a lot of proud antis who would say theyve been doxxed and harassed too. You use the example of a particularly combative 15 year old, meanwhile teenagers who do in fact express those views, which may not be ones they hold once they've grown a little, have been harassed by people on the internet who are much older who believe they are justified in their actions for the sake of preserving fandom.

You also imply that the views of proshippers aren't as harmful and simply react to being harassed but this untrue. Proud proshippers often harass people of colour for speaking out against fandom racism, viewing them as aggressive outsiders who disrespect the (white) culture in fandom spaces. The pro/anti divide isnt that simple bc a lot of people of colour get depicted as antis for criticising fandom behaviours which, in these proshippers minds, further justifies their abuse.

Overall, I think a lot of proshipper views don't start and end with writing any fiction is fine because its fiction (even tho thats the main view which i agree with), theres a lot of believing of the preservation of fandom culture on that side, which has always been one way of course, until the "puriteens" showed up which is silly and it just as easily leads to harassment as antis beliefs can do and can end up leading to misogynistic and racist beliefs too. Always believing you're the victim in a scenario (say you're a proshipper thinking you're up against a wave of antis) can often make you believe that any action you take is justified which can lead to you harassing and abusing people and claiming youre defending yourself before theyve harmed you. As long as you feel you're being harassed, as proshippers often claim they do over anything that disagrees with their views, its fine for you to attack. Proshippers can be just as abusive online as much as anyone can.
