Stand Mutation AU

Warning, this is FILLED with body horror! And somewhat loose but present connections to the recent epidemic! Mainly in part 4...

These are mostly just lists of the designs, and this post will only contain parts 3 & 5. There’s a lot more bulk to what was written to part 4, and there’s a lot more angst written, so that’s going to be a separate post.

(Which is now here!)

The idea here is essentially taking the ‘stand sickness’ Holy and Josuke had and twisting it into overdrive. Rather than gaining stands, the infected mutate (often horrifically, but there are some who look almost unaffected) based on their in-canon stands. The uninfected don’t see the full image; the shapes and colors come through, but not completely. The common headlight-style eyes are a big giveaway (until they’re not).

The mutations here will also commonly hinder most functions, especially rational thought. It’s most often temporary as the infected adjusts to the changes of their body. This can take a number of forms, but what happened to the Nijimura brothers is the worst it gets. The term for this for now is going to be ‘fried’.

The infection is only transferred by the arrow, and genetic relation.

Part 3

Holy has flowers growing on her body. Has a way better handle on it than Jotaro; fully present and coherent, the flowers just need to sap a little of her energy to grow big and bright. So, yeah, she's completely fine.

Jotaro ends up this ethereal star man with so much luscious hair, but also partly fried at the start; ends up being essentially like a big dog for a while (acts on base instinct and can’t articulate).

Joseph’s arms become vines. That’s it, that’s all. Vines for arms.

Avdol is pretty much just fused with Magician’s Red. I say ‘just’, but he’s pretty damn rad.

Kakyoin is basically a bunch of wires, wrapped to make a more human shape. Rather than shooting solid energy bursts, he can send energy through the wires.

Polnareff, like Avdol, is also just fused with his Silver Chariot. The armor and sword are still removable.

Iggy is made of sand. Can shapeshift, often takes the form of a wolf, because he can and he wants to.

Hol Horse has a gun for a hand. Yes, that's all.

Gray Fly... tiny man. Beetle sized old man with beetle wings and dagger tongue. Nasty nasty.

Imposter Captain Tenille is a fish-man, simple as that. Basically take Dark Blue Moon and put it in the mans clothes. This makes it obvious that he’s the enemy the moment he comes out, but Anne is still under some suspicion at first.

Forever is just Strength. Green ship with orangutang face.

Devo basically is Ebony Devil. Imagine making a (somewhat crappy) almost life size doll of Devo, and there you go. Rather than needing a grudge to act, he forms his grudge as he fights, making him stronger.

Rubber Soul is just Yellow Temperance; when he went through stand puberty he just pretty much melted.

J. Geil is just Hanged Man; only seen through reflections. Tied a knife to his hand.

Nena is almost the same as canon; she assimilates a beautiful woman to host her real body (which has no skin covering, so here she needs a host, the looks are just preference), and still leaves parasites on victims through her blood.

ZZ's stand mutation is actually his arm. His arm is the car.

Enya… ghost? Still uses fog for the illusions, still does puppet stuff? But then Jotaro would still have to suck her down so NO, THANKS

Steely Dan, the crab man. Can duplicate himself but at NOWHERE near the same rate. Not as effective either. He's about the size of your average 14 year old.

Arabia Fats is just. On fire. Fire man. Human torch. But more fire. Just fire.

Mannish boy appears with a flat, jester-like face, so the group knows to refuse.

Cameo... genie?

Midler is basically herself with High Priestess's power to become any mineral. Still can shapeshift, but its limited.

N’Doul… could be a water man. Sends his hand out so he can stay safely out of most people’s range.

Anubis... is just the same Anubis as canon. It's a sword, what were you expecting?

Mariah is the magnetizer. It happens through contact, and feels like a small static shock. It does not work on normal people, although they do feel the shock.

Alessi has just become a shadow, his own silhouette, that de-ages those it touches like in canon, with the same eyes and manifesting ability, too. Cannot talk.

The D’arby brothers are a terrible amalgamation of the souls they’ve taken.

Pet Shop is... just its stand I think.

Vanilla Ice is another stand/user mix. As uncomfortable as the v o r e is, it seems like the only sensible thing...

Dio is similar to Jotaro. But green & yellow, with more disturbing growths (those... bullet chain suspenders looking things, and the apparent oxygen tanks on the back). He's a bit distorted, rippling in time with the seconds.

Part 5

Haruno becomes a plant creature (Oh you want limbs? Limbs to hold things? Too bad, you get tendrils!), changes his name to Giorno. The human body is still inside, controlling everything. When he’s truly happy, he blooms.

Bruno's body is just zippers. They can all be opened or closed (although if they're all opened he's kind of a mess, and its an awful noise), and what's under them is just a void. He seems to have glowing orbs as eyes, revealed by a single open zipper over where his eyes would be. To resemble a more human form, he has zippers on his head to look like hair. There are a few zippers that hang off his arms and legs almost like fins, and he will whip you with them.

Abbachio is a glitchy creature that looks like someone constantly flipping channels, with a sort of goo coating his body in almost the exact way it does Moody Blues.

Narancia is a ‘cyborg’, fighting logic output to stay ‘human’

Mista basically goes through mitosis, becoming 7 of himself; but it takes time for them to truly separate.

Fugo appears to be normal, but he has this ‘oxygen’ tank & connected mask. The Purple Haze virus is more of a gas here, produced in his lungs, so he has to have a way to contain it when he's around others. Once he starts getting emotional, he sort of melts into a zombie-like form; starts looking like a typical victim of Purple Haze.

(Giorno's able to take in an absurd amount of toxins and pollution and spit out a shit ton of oxygen, so there's much less concern.)

WE RETAIN THE DINOSAUR SPICE GIRL HERE, TRISH IS A STRETCHY & SQUISHY LIZARDWOMAN.

Mr President is a cube, still with the room. He's like a box. A box turtle, you might say.

Polpo is still in prison. His shadow does pretty much everything Black Sabbath does. Permanent poggers face.

Zucchero is a slug. Has spikes on his body that perform Soft Machine’s ability, and they’re barbed to grab the deflated forms.

Sale... maybe he's already dead. Infection stopped his own heart or something. Or hes like.. a landmark. Like Angelo in canon; fully immobile, but sort of immortal. /till you destroy the body I guess...

Formaggio’s size is constantly fluctuating, not always proportionately consistent.

Illuso... doesn't exist outside of mirrors. He can still communicate to those on the other side, and pull them in, but can't leave, himself. He works similarly to Yoshihiro Kira; ig seal the mirror, you seal him.

Prosciutto has so many eyes. Just all over, so so many. Somewhat shriveled up from the waist down.

Pesci has a fishing pole arm I guess...

Melone is some sort of... digital-ish cyborg thing. The Babyface kids are the same though

Ghiaccio is essentially fused with his suit, with the weak spot in the back of his neck frozen over. It’s actually like the mane of a lion, but ice; he can’t turn his head at all, speaking is near impossible, and eating is a struggle as well. The white album fight reveals a lot:

Due to literally being plants, Giorno has to revert back to Haruno or risk serious danger. This is the first time he’s come out; they knew he existed (he was mentioned in passing) but they weren't sure if he was alive or dead. When he can take his plants form again, it’s... kind of horrifying. Roots and vines coming out of his body, wrapping around him...

Risotto is basically a living Metallica colony. Take risotto, make every 5x5 pixels a metallica bean, there you go that’s him.

Squalo... Sharkboy

Tiziano looks fine, but his mouth is all wrong. Tongues like a starfish.

Secco... mud? Mudman?

Cioccolata looks like a zombie, moldy and decomposed an shit.

Diavolo and Doppio are... basically, literally, just King Crimson and Epitaph. They can apparently switch places? Maybe

anyway my like last/second to last reblog made me think about this so caesar crusader au woot woot also it got kinda long so here’s a cut for those who dont wanna scroll through all that <3 also i didnt proofread so sorry i just dont care enough </3

first things first let me get the set up;; caesar joseph nd suzi all live in the same house u can interpret it as ot3 or just caejose and suzi is there to vibe w them and help joseph convince caesar to get into trouble, it’s however u want it

then either cause ot3 or suzi agrees 2 be a surrogate, holly is born, joseph’s still the dad like genetically but she’s raised by all three of em essentially and still ends up just as bubbly as she is in canon, except there is no absolute fuckign way she doesnt know hamon because caesar would never, and i mean NEVER, let his kid grow up w/o such a useful trick up her sleeve

then holly gets married, joseph embarrasses both suzi and caesar by how hostile he is towards sadao, caesar is more likely to cuff him over the head bc of it, so there’s that. doesnt change much ig but makes joseph thinks a LITTLE bit more before lashing out JKF;JFJ;S

jotaro comes along and he is caesar’s BOY ok. caesar just gets him. his quiet and calm demeanor (ik caesar isnt necessarily like that in general but around kids he is and as he gets older he’d give off that vibe more as he mellows out) made jotaro feel rlly relaxed around him and as a result he’s v open to him. joseph and suzi ofc have a relationship w jotaro as well but it isnt hard to see there is a bit of favorites playing, especially once jotaro grows up and really starts closing off to most ppl

caesar tries to encourage him to open up more to his family again, but this just ends up with him getting cut off as well. it’s sad ):

in the meantime tho joseph meets avdol and develops his stand. with avdol and caesar combined, they can kinda wrangle joseph into being productive w his energy, but theyre not full-proof. nothing will ever be full-proof against joseph

caesar nd avdol would get along rlly well me thinks. caesar would teach him sum italian and avdol would teach him so arabic. caesar wouldnt have a stand, but since stands r kiiiiinda described as just more intense versions of hamon, caesar can see like outlines of stands if he’s looking at them through one of his hamon bubbles. he only figures this out w avdol’s help. theyre buds

then they find out abt dio thanks to joseph’s stand and they all kinda. get srs. it’s time to search and all that for this fucker. caesar’s pissed cause his grandfather died for no reason now then, same w joseph. avdol helps them navigate the stand world as they search

honestly all is relatively well mostly but then. sdc begins

caesar hasnt heard from jotaro himself for like two years when holly calls them in a panic over him being in jail. og just caesar and joseph were gonna go, but then avdol brings up jotaro mightve developed his stand, since stands r kinda genetic, so they bring avdol along too cause he’s the expert here

they get there, jotaro calls his mom a bitch and is otherwise disrespectful and moody as fuck, and caesar is frankly just disappointed more than angry/frustrated, th opposite of joseph. this makes jotaro feel worse tho KJFN;;N

avdol gets him out tho, they head out. caesar scolds jotaro for snapping at holly and joseph when the only things they ever did were show care for him, and jotaro snaps at HIM in return. fuckin teenagers. caesar changes tactics then and tells jotaro about how he used to be a street thug and all that, and how he cut himself off from his family in an effort to keep them safe (as did his dad mario zeppeli and joseph’s mom djkndje;dn why do bad coping skills run in the family), but it didnt work and instead it just put them in more danger and unjustified/meaningless emotional turmoil. jotaro gets thoughtful over this

then jotaro heads to school and accepts his kiss from holly w/o much fight, just wordless grumbling. it’s a start, caesar guesses

then jotaro comes home with a fucking bloody body only an hour later BHILDFHUDHUJN;

avdol talks abt the fleshbud, caesar is concerned cause jesus h christ, that is a child, kakyoin was only 16-almost-17 when he got fleshbudded, it’s been months, holy shit ??? jotaro must have the same thoughts cause he goes to pull the fleshbud out to everyone’s panic

they decide to let jotaro do it tho and jotaro does, just like in canon. kakyoin’s still rlly rattled but w caesar nd holly both telling him it’s ok and jotaro’s weird ass “why did i save you? who knows.........” thing, he calms down

then holly gets stand sickness and everyone freaks out, even jotaro! kinda. he reacts much the same he did in canon except maybe a lil more frantic cause he had literally JUST decided to clean up his act and now his mom is dying. he wants to show her he knows better now. it’s rough.

caesar considers staying just to watch over his daughter esp cause he doesnt have a stand so it’s like, what would he even do, but then jotaro and kakyoin say theyre going and caesar is like “ok no. ur children.” “that’s my mom. im going either by myself or youll let me go with you.” “christ”

so caesar tags along just to keep an eye of these crazy kids and yeah

this is ending up as a whole fucking fic draft or some shit so im gonna stop here but if anyone is curious on my thoughts on how caesar would continue to affect things from here, lemme know nd ill elaborate. im PRETTY SURE...caesar being around would lead to avdol and kakyoin living cause hamon’s healing abilities, nd since he doesnt have a stand he kinda just ends up as team medic SOOOO....

Pairing I am not a fan of: I’m not super big on Fugo/Narancia! It’s valid and I have nothing against the ship or shippers but it’s just not for me ig!

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): I think Avdol could have been much cooler if Araki decided to give him a backstory and more screentime!

Favourite Friendship: Kakyoin and Polnareff..... I love that Kak just throws all his brain cells out the window when he talks to Polnareff. They’re so funny

Character I most identify with: Jotaro but I’m not sure how much of that is me projecting onto him. Also Kakyoin and Fugo

Character I wish I could be: Johnny probably? I like his personality and his drive. Wish I could be half as motivated as that man

Sasunaru

When I started shipping them: Oh man, I can’t really say for sure, since I highkey hated Sasuke at first... probably after Sasuke left the village cuz that’s when Naruto started acting real gay

My thoughts: They Hit Different Bro... they’re one of Those Ships. I love it a lot man they make my heart ache... they’re basically soulmates like bro what else can I say

What makes me happy about them: Their personalities match so well... the fact that they do end up back as friends by the end of Shippuden is very nice

What makes me sad about them: the Angst... Sasuke leaving the village really drove a wedge into their friendship and Naruto’s constant longing for him to come back and determination to be the one to kill him after he finds out that Konoha put out orders to kill him is. Very Sad.

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: I’m not a big fanfic person so I can’t really say? I haven’t read any bad sns fics so far

Things I look for in fanfic: Again I’m not super big on fanfic buuuut I’ve yet to see a fic where Sasuke is gay/ace and since that’s a big hc of mine. I Would Like To See It.

My wishlist: ??? Not really sure what this means and Naruto is long over by now so, nothing really?

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: I would have preferred it if Naruto and Sakura ended up together tbh. Sasuke doesn’t really give me the vibes of marrying At All if it wasn’t Naruto, so him not ending up with anyone would have been just fine by me

My happily ever after for them: Literally just them Being Together is good enough for me bro. Canon sns would have been excellent

Jotaro

How I feel about this character: Big Love. probably one of my favorite characters of all time ok he means An Lot to me at the moment

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: (in order from super duper like to kinda vibe with,) Kakyoin, Weather Report, Polnareff (post p3), Rohan, Anasui

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: His friendship with Koichi is really valid... he really walked into Morioh and adopted that polite boy almost instantly

My unpopular opinion about this character: Not sure how unpopular this is but I think that nerfing him for parts 4 and 6 was not only necessary but completely realistic and justified. He was past his prime and canonically had never used the time stop since his fight with Dio!! And in part 6 it’d been Even Longer and he’s also 40 now so you can’t blame him for being Bad At It... leaf him alone

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I WISH. I wish there was at least one small arc in p4 where Jolyne was in Morioh. It’s probably super inconvenient to the plot but like. Dadtaro with tiny Jolyne please... Josuke could even babysit her.... it’d be so cute why didn’t this happen :pensive:

Favorite friendship for this character: Probably Kakyoin! Yes I also ship them romantically but like. Shipping aside, Kakyoin’s the crusader that Jotaro gets along the best with... they are Epic

My crossover ship: I’m so glad you put Jotaro on here because I can legally say Jotavlis (Jotaro/Ivlis from The Gray Garden). it started out as a joke but quickly became not a joke. Stan Jotavlis

this is an unfinished (and cringey) thing that my friend told me to write (ayyyyyyy, beeeeeaaaaaaaaan)

I seriously doubt I'll ever finish it, but I'm gonna put the raw, unedited drabble on here ig wjjwjwjwjwhwjq

A deep scream rips through the calm, still room. a shaking form grips white sheets in the dark, threatening to rip holes in it.

He felt as if he was drowning, drowning in his own salty, sticky sweat. Sticky just like his blood, him not being able to discern which is which terrified him.

The only way he can tell the difference is the taste, he knows the taste too well, he can feel what tastes almost like pennys on his tongue, making him feel like he was drowning all the more.

He wanted to say so much to his parents, but he's too scared, terrified maybe. He feels like his entire existence has been a weight on everyone's shoulders, Mom, Dad, Mr. Joestar, Avdol, Polnareff, Jotaro, hell, even the dog, Iggy.

He feels bad for even leaving his family in the first place, he feels bad that he's never been as happy as he had till then, he feels bad that parting ways made all of them happy, he's just sorry for being lonely.

Him being lonely made him distant, him being distant made his family distant, not once trying to work with him, they just decided he was a lost cause early on. All of those feeling cast a heavy weight, almost like an anchor on you as you try to swim to the nearest island, hoping for safety. But the water will only cast a steady red hue as you squirm, fighting against the rising tide and weight of your loneliness, only worsening the metallic water.

All he can see when he falling in to unconsciousness is DIO, the once looming threat to him and all who he loved.

They beat him, didn't they? So why, why does he still how control over him? The threat is eliminated and the wounds heal, but the scars stay, blinding him further. He's terrified that maybe DIO's death was temporary or a hoax, terrified that he never did regain control over himself, maybe he was still a ploy, forever alone and terrified of himself.

The deep scars on his face stopped him from seeing around him, but he thinks maybe it went too far. The water cutting through his face made a pink hued, metallic knife, cutting through his eyes and going too deep, it's almost like it touched something inside of him.

It's like a warning, you're too young, you have one last chance to go. Even then, he'd rather die knowing he helped, knowing he wasn't alone. He thinks it may be selfish, but his family never cared about him anyway. Mr. Joestar and Jotaro would grieve, but surely move on. Polnareff and Avdol, they're his friends and he would gladly die for either, but they would move on, too.

He honestly hoped he'd die helping them, it would be a fitting death. He doesn't have to go back home, the burden is lifted off of his parents. His friends would grieve but move on, but yet, he's still alive. Even when he's shaking after seeing him when he passes out again, he's alive.

He feels almost guilty for living. So many died but he wanted to die, but didn't. That thought makes his chest tighten and feel like it drops into his chest. He wants to die helping, yes. But he's terrified of dying. The thought kept him up every night they were out trying to find DIO.

Everytime he was able to get a bathroom or room of his own, he wouldn't bother to try and hide his shaking. He was terrified but he had to keep a calm exterior to help his friends, to finally fix what he thought he broke. But that mentality almost snaps in half after beating DIO, everytime he wakes up in a cold sweat, he knows its because of DIO, but he's dead. He knows he's gone, but he still feels his body freeze as DIO arrogantly saunters over to him, smirking as he starts saying something, but he honestly can't hear a thing. Time is frozen for him, and he's powerless. He can feel DIO's fingertips graze the buttons of his old school uniform, another reminder of his past faults. He smirks with pure malice and joy in his eyes, leaning into Kakyoin's ear.

"What ever happened to our friendship, Noriaki?" He grins moving carefully into the crook of his neck

"You were so lonely..." he finished, voice suddenly getting soft. That unnerved Kakyoin more than anything else.

"I was your best friend, remember?" He said, gently running his hand up his chest to his collarbone as he pulls away from his neck. Kakyoin wants so desperately to gasp as he feels DIO's fingers grip around his throat, but nothin comes out, he is still under DIO's control.

As he separated from him, Kakyoin sees The World behind DIO, ready to finish what he had started. He wanted to scream, to run, but he can't, he's stuck in place, forever witnessing his own dissent. He sees The World rear back his fist, snarl on his face as he pushes forward, punching through Kakyoin's abdomen.

Kakyoin still feels frozen but feels the air move around him in slow motion, he feels a warm, wet sensation engulf his body as he sinks more, DIO and The World nowhere to be seen. As he sinks all he sees is rosy water, staining his uniform rose while his wound cascades a deep red color. His entire body feels frozen, but yet it feels warm.

He's petrified and is asking for someone to help, for someone to even end him, but his face is one of pride, mirroring his expression when he was up against DIO, he really thought he had beat him, but DIO will always have something over them even after death. He just wished that DIO actually killed him that day, maybe everyone would be okay then. Maybe then he wouldn't be shaking, almost borderline panic attack every night. Maybe his parents would sleep easy. Maybe Mr Joestar and his family would sleep easy. Maybe all of his new found companions would be sleep easy, too.
