Big Finish Presents: Old Man Yaoi
Quick No Spoiler review: I think this is the best release so far of Big Finish's new Second Doctor Adventures with Michael Troughton.
Thankfully they didn't put another UNIT story on this box set. My memories of The Annihilators and Wrath of the Ice Warriors have blurred together in the months since I first listened to them.

OK, I don't know why I didn't share all these anecdotes right after they first occurred, but I have one more story involving Colin Baker that happened at Chicago TARDIS last month.
On the first day of the con, I attended a panel interview of Big Finish audio actors, which included Michael Troughton and Colin Baker. I stood on line for the Q&A and asked Michael a question: What did he think of his own take on the Second Doctor's voice as compared to Frazer Hines's? Does he have any notes or criticisms? Or does he just see them as two valid takes on the character?
"Well, first of all," Michael began, "we can all agree that Frazer is rubbish."
Everyone laughed, and Michael continued the bit for another sentence or so before quickly adding, "I'm joking, of course."
Then Colin Baker, who had been smirking during the entire joke, snarkily said, "No, you're not!"
That's it, end of anecdote. Just another example of these Classic Who actors all having friendly, teasing relationships with each other.

I'm still recovering from LI Who but wanted to pop in and make a quick post. It was amazing. A few highlights:
Frazer has written a new book which will be out in October. He was as sweet and funny as ever. He and Michael Troughton were especially funny together. Speaking of which, Michael shared some nice and interesting memories of his father.
Paul McGann is really nice and has a hearty handshake. :D
Katy Manning is as sweet as ever. Such an amazing, positive person.
I'll have more to share in my report. But for now I'll leave you with a smiley pic of Frazer :

(oh and @circular-time I think I may have seen you there? If I'd seen your reblog before we left I def would have sought you out but from what I remember I believe I did see you at some point... I was a small lady (mid 40s but told I don't look it) with glasses and long dark brown hair. If you were at FrazerCon I managed to win a sticker... which I hadn't expected, lol)
More later!

It’s out! I’m desperately proud! Tell me what you think!
It's 1968, and the Earth has one month to live.
The Doctor, Ben, and Polly race to escape a frightening lifeless London. But as the city folds in on itself, it is a warning of a far greater danger. Someone has misused terrifyingly advanced technology to make Earth the target of a primordial black hole - a tiny, invisible world-killer. Struggling to avert the catastrophe, the Doctor must send his companions on dangerous undercover missions.
Can the Doctor and his friends prevent the planet Earth from being erased from space and time?

Reviewed: The Second Doctor goes Beyond War Games for Big Finish
Reviewed: The Second #DoctorWho goes Beyond War Games for @bigfinish
Oh, my giddy aunt! The Second Doctor has finally got his first full-cast Big Finish audio release; this time with Patrick Troughton’s son, Michael, stepping into his late father’s shoes. Beyond War Games is an outstanding boxset, which magnificently introduces the somewhat controversial Season 6B theory with a fresh perspective. There’s a lot that I find extremely puzzling about Season 6B,…

Panda's Doctor Who adventure
My name is Panda and I’m undertaking a self made challenge. First thing about me, I’m autistic and coming out of lockdown has been very stressful for me. Another big thing about me, is I’m a big fan of Doctor Who.
So it challenging myself to be around people more and travelling on different forms of public transport, places and all the sensory overload. As its the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who, I challenged myself to get as many autographs as possible from the series as possible, while trying to learn to be around other humans (not necessarily to engage but to be out of my little bubble). The autographs I collected will be raffled off for two charities. The National Autistic Society and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Support UK.
So far, I’ve pushed myself to:

I don't always remember to take photos of the guest signing, or I'm not allowed. I've got a lot more to go.
How the raffle will work, there is a tier system, with level of donations.
£50 per ticket for Doctor Who autograph bundles - These are split in Doctors 1-4, 5-7, 8-10, 11-13. These bundles currently include 7 Doctors,  2 Masters, 13 companions, 10 guests stars, 6 Monsters. There is at least 1 Doctor in each bundle, there is 4 bundles to win. (When making donation you can choose with bundle.)
£30 for mystery box filled with lots of Doctor Who related stuff.
£15 for a hat signed kindly by Frazer Hines
Under £15 will get to choose a future stream from the TARDIS mug

The Second Doctor:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't even know how to start talking about how much I love this man and his time as the Doctor. He is just phenomenal. It makes me so sad that he is the Doctor with the most missing episodes, saying that even though he has so many episodes missing, he still managed to become my favourite. I will always look back at his seasons happy, and I'd happily rewatch them over and over.
Another thing I love about the second Doctor is his companions, every one of them perfect. Polly and Ben make me so happy, I love them, and the fact they stay together forever makes me so so happy! And Jamie, honestly what would I do without Jamie Mccrimmon, knowing his exists as a character is the best feeling. I don't think I've loved a character as much, and watching him with the doctor makes me laugh, they're so goofy together.
I love Victoria and Zoe, they're brilliant, different yet they bring so much to the episodes they're in. I was unsure about Zoe at first, but she became one of my favourite companions ever.
I was so sad when 2 regenerated into 3. I still don't think I've healed. I just hope 2nd's episodes are found, I'd give anything to watch them.

The time traveling alien known as the Doctor (Doctor 2) and his companions arrived on the Earth in 1966. The Doctor found a race called the Chameleons who had secretly invaded England. Due to nuclear explosions, the Chameleons had lost their identities and faces and were dying off. The Doctor learned that the Chameleons had been stealing people’s identities and miniaturized the originals to be held captive on a space station. At the end of the adventure, the Doctor’s companions Ben and Polly decided to remain on Earth. ("The Faceless Ones" Doctor Who vlm 1, TV)

Finally got the report posted! Just a warning, it's pretty long but there were so many panel highlights I wanted to mention.
(And sadly I have nothing about Sacha Dhawan... we only saw him for a split second and there were a lot of people lined up for his autographs)

Scars of Dracula (1970)
"You must give me time to prepare you for what we both have to do."
"Both?"
"Yes, both of us. Without my guidance, you'd never survive the ordeal; without your courage, I could not even attempt it."
#scars of dracula#1970#hammer horror#dracinema#hammer films#roy ward baker#anthony hinds#christopher lee#jenny hanley#dennis waterman#christopher matthews#patrick troughton#michael gwynn#michael ripper#wendy hamilton#anouska hempel#delia lindsay#bob todd#david leland#james bernard#absolutely chaotic in terms of script and plotting‚ with a first act that feels like the end of a different film entirely (the angry mob#burn down the castle in the first 15 minutes! and then it's not really a plot point after that!). Lee was late to agree to returning‚ so#this was written as a potential reboot with another actor; it also had the misfortune to be packaged in a double deal with Hammer's#Frankenstein reboot‚ the p woeful Horror of Frankenstein‚ which hasn't helped its reputation. but it's ok? not great by any means but not#quite as bad as its reputation either. Lee wrote and spoke very dimly of this film but he's actually giving it everything on camera and he#gets used to his strengths (he probably has more dialogue here than in the rest of the Hammer Draculas combined). Stoker purists will enjoy#little details from the book (Drac scampers around the castle walls at last) and for the rest of us there's Pat Troughton cosplaying as a#werewolf as Drac man's right hand arm Klove. he's pretty wonderful (tunelessly whistling and happily bobbing around as he butchers and#dismembers the corpse of an unfortunate victim) but it made me truly insane in the brain when i did the maths and realised this was barely#a year after he finished work on DW; he looks a decade older‚ at least. James Bernard's score is absolutely brilliant‚ too among his best
