A Decade Through Time: The Alderberg Legacy: Year 1614

I finally finished writing year 1614! It’s getting harder to write these updates 😅

From the Beginning I Currently

It had been a stormy night in 1614 when young Stephen , the firstborn of Garitt and Avigail Friswell, married Jenefer Isley at the age of 17 and 15 years old. 

Lady Jenefer Isley was the daughter of a minor noble , who owned land scattered around the SimEngland. 

It was a union that made Garitt very happy and he hopes by the end of the year , he would be a proud grandfather. 

By the end of the 1st quarter , Hannah Wolfeden , the youngest daughter of Myles and Catherine, turned 13. It was a quite affair

By the 2nd quarter of the year , Marion and Galwell’s relationship bloomed like flowers in spring. They had secretly courted one and other for little over a year now.

Perhaps not so secretly , as village folk would see them together , whispering of young love and scandalous youths. Although shy , Marion felt brave with her gallant Galwell by her side and did not care about the meddling. 

When Griffyn was asked for Marions hand in marriage , Marion felt a pang in her heart as her beloved father had a stone face when Galwell poured his heart in-front of him, only to be relieved when he agreed to the betrothal, but that they needed to wait for Marion’s 17th birthday. 

Meanwhile at the Crawford tailor shop , little Ruth aged up to a beautiful toddler. She had her fathers hair and eyes, and was the apple of her mothers eyes. 

Jane knew how disappointing Rodger had no son yet , but she also knew that he wouldn’t trade Ruth or Agatha for one either. Children were blessings of the watcher and they love them equally,  Jane would often quote to him. 

6 months after their betrothal was approved by her father , Marion Alderberg and Galwell Marston joined hands in holy matrimony at the struck of midnight, just 3 months shy from her 17th birthday, witnessed by Marions entire family. 

The father of the bride was very quite during the wedding. It was not because he was unhappy for his beloved daughter to marry a man she loved , it was because he realized that his children were growing up. That he was growing old , as he had surpassed the death-dates of his mother and father by 3 and 7 years , but how long will it last? Will he be able to see Caleb , Lucy , James and even little Piers getting married? It was hard to say , the watcher’s dice were as cruel as they were benevolent. 

In the end , it wouldn’t matter , for time will always continue forward and never backwards, for youngsters like Marion and Galwell time was irrelevant as long , as they are together. 

9 months after their wedding night , Jenefer went into labor. To the shock of everyone involved in the deliver that it was not just one but two baby boys. 

Garitt was frilled over the birth of Septimus and Shadrick. For years it had just been him , Stephen and Theodora in this big house , and to have new little ones under his roof made his heart swell with  joy. 

Yet unknown to them , the twins would be the only children born out of Stephen and Jenefer’s marriage... 

Sadly , with life , death will always be lurking somewhere...

By the end of 1614,  Catherine Wolfeden , the daughter of Anne and her 1st husband John , past away from conditions of the heart at age 40, dying in her childhood home surrounded by close family.  

It was decided that Hannah and Silas would be staying in their grandmothers home alongside her family. “Uncle” Geoff and “Aunt” Parnell were also willing to look out for the younger Wolfeden children , in case of Anne and Mark’s foreseeable passing, knowing that Jane was a mother now and that Beatrice had other responsibilities. 

I love the name Shadrick lol. The gen 5 kids has the best names so far XD.

Hextilda has been struggling silently. The poor dear had symptoms similar to that of her older sister: feeling weak, dizzy, and constantly tired. She frequently couldn't keep up with the other children playing - especially the high energy of the other two triplets.

She didn't want to worry anybody. Jennet and Hendrie had been fighting, John and Isabella were stressed, her mother and father are dealing with Elizabeth's marriage... And she certainly didn't want her baby sister or niece to catch onto her feeling ill. So when everything got to be too much? She would sneak into her brother and sister-in-law's chambers and nap there.

Nobody would check there. Her parents wouldn't disturb the other married couple, her siblings were not allowed, and Isabella and John were busy throughout the day.

Unfortunately for Hextilda, Isabella went into her chambers to grab something and found her there while she was trying to rest. While some women would be irritated by their young sister-in-law taking up their bed, she just felt worry.

She was only nine years old. What could have a nine year old looking so haggard and exhausted?

"Hex?" She asked softly, placing a hand on her cheek. The child was shivering, but it looked like she didn't want to disturb the blankets to crawl under them.

".... Bells?" Hextilda mumbled, surprised that she had gotten caught. "I... I am sorry. Do you need your bed? I can leave."

"No, no, darling. You stay right where you are." Isabella said firmly. She would have to speak to her husband and in laws about this later. Maybe a physician could help her. Surely there was some tincture or diet change or....

"Are you sure?" The blonde's voice startled her from her thoughts.

"I am more than sure. As a matter of fact, move over."

Isabella climbed into bed, settling in place beside Hextilda. She hoped that her clear approval would, at least, leave a safe place for her to come and rest.

Her bed was comfortable.

"There." She said, tugging her into her arms. "Now I have an excuse to nap too."

As the girl snuggled into her arms, Isabella could have swore she heard her giggle before she fell asleep.

Echo in Time: Winter 1307-1309 Part 2

Jacqueline and Alair connected almost immediately.

"This kid is going to grow up to be a minstrel, mark my words," she told Nash. "Just listen to what he can do already!" Nash couldn't make any sense of the noise Alair was making, but he enjoyed the fact that it made both them them happy.

When Alair made the worst racket, Jacqueline seemed the most proud of him.

A little account revamp! Interested in showing off my Ultimate Decades Challenge save file (though I am absolutely terrible at storytelling and just barely started using Tumblr again so bare with me), so here I am doing just that. I’ll be posting a lot more frequently. Hopefully at least.

I’m currently in the year 1321, but here’s a little introduction to the main household (out of three that) I’m playing with, and how the last 18 years of the Kensington family line have turned out (1300-1318). Here are my Gen 1 heirs, Marci and Esteban Kensington. They married in 1299 -- a few years after the death of Marci's parents, Gabriela and Arturo Lottway. Marci and Esteban birthed six (currently living) kids and unfortunately died a few months apart due to the Great Famine.

In total the two birthed ten kids. Marci was a loyal but hotheaded sim -- a trait many of her kids inherited. She was a kind person to many, particularly hated her aunt, Gloria Beaumont, for how she treated her mother before death, and managed motherhood beautifully after the birth of the twins. Esteban was a family-oriented sim who, while strict, loved his kids and loved gardening just a smidge more. He was also a glutton. As you can imagine, going through a period of time where hunger was a constant, and gardening was unavailable, was a challenge for Esteban (and a real nuance for me). Let's talk about the Kensington kids.

Both fraternal twins, Emiliano and Haven are left to care for their four younger siblings, Emil, Maerwynn, Laurance, and baby Marciella II, at just fifteen years old. The pressure they both feel to take care of their family is immense. Emiliano is especially stressed out as the heir of the Kensington line. Everyone, including himself, is depending on him to help their household recover after the tragedy of the Great Famine -- both financially and emotionally.

Emil -- unironically named similarly to his bigger brother, Emiliano (trust he hasn't gotten over that) -- is 12 years old and is the third oldest and second-in-line heir. Maerwynn is 10 years old and is the third youngest (fourth oldest). She and Emil are quite close. After all, in a household with five attention-hogging siblings, it's easy to feel inferior to your older, wiser siblings. Maerwynn and Emil can relate to that.

Laurance is 6 years old, the second youngest, and third-in-line heir. Inheriting his mother's hotheadedness, Laurance is particularly aggressive and mean to his siblings. Hopefully, he'll grow out of it... Named after her mother, Marci(ella) the Second is the youngest and only a few months old. With their parents gone, Haven has recently taken over the role of being a mother figure for her little sister who, one day, will be too old to remember the faces of the parents who loved her dearly.

Ultimate Decades Challenge

Year 1304

Eleanor: Yes!

Hugh: Okay then! Tuck in, lay back, and let your imagination go free!

Hugh: …and when they looked across the open sea, the sailors couldn’t believe their eyes!

Eleanor: -blinking sleepily-

In the year 1303, the lives of Bridget and her family unfolded with a mixture of joys and tribulations. Despite facing the harsh realities of the winter months, which brought scarcity of food, the Stonewalls remained relatively unscathed by tragedies. The landscape surrounding the family was marked by the ebb and flow of life, as it does for most families throughout the ages.

Bridget, a woman of her time but with a progressive mindset, found herself once again with child, not long after the birth of her twins. While some might have viewed this as a hasty decision, Bridget understood the necessity of expanding their family. She saw it as a societal need to bear a son and ensure the continuation of the family name, a matter of great significance in those feudal times. It wasn’t as though she didn’t want another child, of course; she loved being a mother and would adore a son. She pondered who she was besides being “mother”.

Bridget’s perspective on life and family differed from the societal norms that dictated the course of her daughters’ lives. She contemplated the future of her innocent girls and worried about the accelerated pace at which they might be thrust into adulthood. Arranged marriages, a common practice among peasants like her family, haunted her thoughts. Bridget struggled to accept the idea of her daughters being wedded off without their choice or consent, their futures decided by others.

In her heart, Bridget knew that her husband, Hugh, shared her sentiments. They both believed that their daughters deserved the autonomy to choose their own life partners, to experience love and companionship based on mutual understanding and affection. But the question that loomed over them was whether they truly had a choice in a society that deemed arranged marriages as the norm — a way of life engraved in the cultural fabric.

Resolute in their convictions, Bridget and Hugh made a pact, vowing to wait until their daughters reached the age of 17 before entertaining any thoughts of arranged marriages. It was a promise they made to their children, a commitment to defy the constraints of tradition, and to stand up for their daughters’ right to independence and self-determination.

Yet, challenging the established order invited scrutiny and gossip from within their village. Rumors swirled, questioning Bridget’s unconventional stance and fueling speculation about her well-being or motives. The curious townsfolk couldn’t fathom why she rejected the customary path of arranging her daughters’ futures. Bridget braved the judgment and whispers, staunchly.

Bridget: It’s going to be any day now…

1314 - A Shocking Loss

As the year begins and springtime returns, Sir Amis arranges for his son Tobias to be engaged to a rich heiress from Willow Creek, Marie Moreau. She visits the Verviers manor with her mother to meet Tobias, but neither of them are impressed with the other, and the betrothal is off to a rocky start.

To complicate matters, Lucan discovers that his father has cut him out of his will and only plans to leave the bare minimum to Gemma to allow her to survive with her two sons after his death. Lucan suspects that this means his father is on to them or may even already know of their affair, and so he pressures Gemma to speak to Tobias and convince him to break off his engagement to Marie.

Lucan believes that if Tobias is married and their father passes away, Tobias will claim the land and manor to raise his family there, and Gemma and Lucan will be left penniless. If he remains unmarried, however, he might yet allow Gemma and Lucan to stay at the manor with him after his father's passing.

Gemma, knowing that Tobias is her best chance at being taken care of as long as he is in love with her, seduces him and convinces him to speak to his father about the engagement. Tobias, completely in love with Gemma, gets into an argument with his father over the betrothal. Before they can speak to Marie and her mother to officially break things off, however, several people in the household fall ill and are bedridden for days.

Lucan and Tobias both pull through, but Gemma passes away, leaving everyone shocked and her sons inconsolable. Heartbroken, Tobias ultimately consents to marrying Marie and moves to Willow Creek, while Lucan remains at his father's side, secretly unsure whether Gemma's sons might be his.

Amis, who had begun to doubt Gemma's loyalty, regrets not trusting her and has difficulty accepting that his much younger wife has passed away before he did. He resolves to care and provide for their two sons as well as he can, but given his advancing age, he begins to worry about who their guardian will be once he is gone, unsure he can trust Lucan with the task. With Gemma's death having given him a new perspective on things, he attempts to reconcile with Lucan, with whom he has always had a rocky relationship.

In Windenburg, the Barrow family celebrates Stefanie and Adrianna's birthdays and the birth of another child, Alyson. Frederik and Rosemary agree that this will be their last child, and thank the Watcher for a home full of healthy children. News of Gemma's death reaches them, and Frederik mourns the passing of his little sister with Cecilia.

As the year ends, Frederik sits with Rosemary and admits that he is worried about the state of the farm. After the torrential rains and cold weather of the past year, barely anything has grown, and from what he has heard from their neighbours, they have been struggling as well. With a home full of children to feed, Rosemary and Frederik cannot help worrying about what the future holds.

1505 FAMILY TREE DECADES CHALLENGE

Some Updates!!

Here is the new update to the ultimate decades challenge family tree. as you can see Catherine and Gilbert had two more kids since the last update. twins!! which was a huge stress on Catherine, hardly getting any sleep and no time to clean around the house or even take care of herself. Revna and Joan (the twins) aged up today and sadly Revna the oldest passed from measles. The whole family is devastated by this death, especially Joan. Catherine can't help but wonder if there was anything she could've done to keep her healthy and fears the same fate for her other children and her child on the way. Kinsley Household - 1300

Fredryck & Margery Kinsley have just been married and have inherited Fredyrcks family home. They were grateful to have a roof over their heads as they struggled to make ends meet. Despite the hardship, they were both excited to meet their first child.

Year: 1303

To cap off the year, a second son, Douglas, was born to Silas and Cassandra. Life slowly found a new rhythm around their homestead, chores and lessons and jokes found even in the most difficult of times. Thankfully, all the children seem to get along well, and occupy their time with the toys Arlen and Silas have built and carved.

A Decade Through Time: The Alderberg Legacy: Year 1612

It’s been almost a month since the last update , so here another one! Mostly a side house update though. 

From the Beginning I Currently

It was a rainy , dreary day in 1612 when the 18 year old Jane Wolfeden went out to the tailor shop by the orders of her mistress to pick up a new dress she had been commissioning. 

It had been many years since the former tailor , Isaac Stanwix , owned the shop and it was now in the hands of a handsome 21 year old man named Rodger Crawford. 

However , it didn't take long before Jane and Rodger started to see one and other , although secretly at first. 

She didn’t wish for Widow Dagworth to know about their little romance , she was scared to lose her job and housing if she knew that she been seeing the tailor on her days off. 

But it didn’t take long until Rodger asked for her hand in marriage , which she accepted in heartbeat. 

This was chance of a better life for Jane , hopefully filled with stability ,safety and love. 

The same can’t be said for Philips household... 

By the time she was 6 years old , little Philippa Alderberg knew that her parents were unhappy together. 

They had always something to argue about- laundry not being done , food being uncooked , not having enough coin for the month... Philippa was thankful to the watcher that they at least didn’t argue about her that often.

Her father adored her , in his own weird way. He was nice yet overprotective , wanting her to stay home or go with him to the market to sell whatever they had made that winter. He would have outbursts if he didn’t know where she was. It was exhausting. 

It’s like he didn’t trust her mother , although Emma was also very loving , yet not as smothering as her father. She let her go out on her own and play with other children.

If  Philippa was to be honest to the watcher , she preferred her mother to her father but she would never say those words out-loud as she didn’t want the watcher’s dice to have any ill intent. 

By the end of the 1st quarter of the year , the Calott’s had a nice , peaceful night after a long days of treating the ill. 

Ursula Calott , now 30 years old,  had put her daughter Hester to bed for the night. 

It was at night Ursula and Magdalene could breathe at easy and enjoy one and others company without worry. They been together for 10 years now and hope that they will continue to be by each other sides for many more.

3 months later , at the Kellogg Farm , Geoffrey and Parnell Mildmay welcomed their 3rd child: A little baby girl. 

Avery , now 2 years old , was very curious over the small babe in swaddle. He took in everything about Christiana, that she was tiny and very sleepy , that when she cried she was hungry. A very smart lad they had , his parents agreed. 

3 months after Christiana’s birth and Avery’s second birthday , Silas Wolfeden aged up to a toddler as well.

Silas and Avery were very close in age , and the 1st cousins were more like brothers then anything else.It was a good thing , as the boys needed the company. 

The Wolfeden girls were too old to play with their baby brother and Christiana was “too little” to play with for Avery. The family hopes that the boys will continue to be good friends. 

It has been 6 months since Jane and Rodger’s wedding , and the couple finally got the confirmation that she was expecting their first child together. 

Rodger was very happy and wished for a son , so did Jane, although jokingly said that boys were rare in her family- it took her mother and father 17 years to have a son after all. 

At beginning of the 4th quarter of 1612 ,  Barbara Horthall had arranged a meeting for her oldest son , Jasper , with a sorted someone. 

Tieica Brokhil was the daughter of a dear childhood friend of Barbara's , and the one she been eyeing for her son to marry since Tiecia became a young lady.  

Jasper liked Tiecia , she was a fun and loving lady who adored dogs and silly games. A good heart and light head.

When Tieica first kissed him after giving her yellow blooms, Jasper knew that he would fall in love with her.

If he already was not by the time wedding bells ring for their union. A much happier couple then that of Abel & Barbara... 

Shortly after Jasper Horthalls marriage to Tiecia Brokhil , Jane Crawford went into labor. 

Jane had the support of having her mother , her grandmother and younger sisters , as she was scared of giving birth alone. 

Just like her mother and grandmother before her, Jane’s first child was a daughter- Ruth Crawford. Although she knew Rodger wished for a son , she was happy and content to hold her baby girl close to her. Besides , they will be able to have more children, one surely has to be a boy. 

Across the green hills and dales of Outland , a young man was running with a sprint in his step. It was no other then Caleb Alderberg , Griffyn’s eldest son with his 1st wife.  The now 13 year old boy was a handsome man , inheriting most of his features from his dear departed mother. 

Caleb was a very stern boy: He didn’t show much of his thoughts or feeling other then grumpiness , but he was not unfeeling. He liked beauty and could easily find it in the world around him with its flora and fauna. 

The attic room has become his sanctuary , there he would write and draw from memory of the things he saw and discovered from his adventures. He was good with the quill and words for a man who never said much. 

Meanwhile at the Friswell house , the now 40 year old Garitt had exciting news to share with his oldest son - that he has now found a betroth for him to wed in 2 years time. 

The 15 year old Stephen didn’t share his fathers enthusiasm, for he did not wish to marry at 17, that was way too young for his taste.

 But his father insisted that Lady Isley would make a lovely bride and mother to his children and that it was something his mother would have approved of. 

If your wondering about why Philippa is referring to the watcher and the dice so much , its because she has the never nude trait = pious/religious. I think if a sims has supernatural skeptic they will also be religious , but so far only 1 has that trait. 

Next update we will spend more time with the main family.

Standing outside of Elizabeth's door when John left? Was Joan, a disapproving look in her eyes. She had told him time and time again that he should not speak to their children when he was angry.

He had not been angry when he walked into the room, but Elizabeth has a way of riling him up.

"You were far too harsh on her," his wife said.

". . . You heard?"

"The entire manor could hear, John, you were not exactly quiet."

"I apologize for disturbing you, dear. It's just... Elizabeth has no idea how badly she jeopardized her future by that behavior. We are lucky that they are not questioning her purity and Her Majesty put it down to youthful excitement."

"Our marriage simply would have been rushed. It is not uncommon! And besides, you are only suddenly against our actions because --"

"Because it's our daughter, Joan! Our baby!"

"I was somebody's daughter too."

Those words seemed to stall John's rant. He looked at his wife, swallowing thickly. He did not truly regret their time together. All of the times they snuck off and had amorous exchanges. They were beyond lucky that she didn't fall pregnant until after they were married, but. . . This was something different.

It was fear. His little girl was growing up. His eldest daughter went through her betrothal and marriage without pushing any boundaries and that had been hard enough. . . Elizabeth was different. She was adventurous and wild. He was terrified for his remaining four daughters.

"I. . ."

"I understand. John, truly I do." Joan said softly, offering him a smile. "But you will have to learn to let go."

The silence lasted a long moment before he rested a hand on his wife's shoulder. He realized he was too harsh on Elizabeth now, but it was too late to take it back.

"I am not apologizing, but I will allow you to handle things from now on."

"That is all I ask."

Nash arrived early to spend some time in the church alone.

His footsteps echoed on the stone as he walked past the pews to stare up at the towering altar of the Watcher.

My attempt at Morbid's Ultimate Decades Challenge

The year 1300 in Henford-on-Bagley - Matthew and Elena Devonshire just moved into a farm on  Olde Mill Hill.

Elena - a family-oriented, proper and neat Sim - wants nothing more than a big happy family. She grew up only with her mother after her father and 3 brothers died in the Conquest of Wales. Because of the lack of money the lived very poor and Elena had no choice than to accept the first proposal she got with 19 years - from Matthew Devonshire, a peasant her age. He was new in Henford and fell for her as soon, as he saw her.

Matthew is the son of a Blacksmith but decided that he rather have a farm - like his uncle. His father disowned him for this decision. So Matthew packed his few things and moved out into the world while only 16 years old. He was already on the go for three years, when he arrived in Henford, saw Elena on a market and fell for her immediatly. When he proposed after only knowing her for a few days, she said yes. He couldn't believe his luck.

Even though Matthew knew that Elena had to get married to survive, in his eyes she loves him just as much as he loves her. Of course Elena is not unhappy with him - he is a lovely husband and always makes sure that she's alright - and she has some tender feelings for him but she probably wouldn't call it love.

Just a year after their little wedding they had enough money to buy their own little farm. To save money, they first lived with Elenas Mother on her property wich had a little cabin like house. After the woman passed away, Matthew convinced Elena to sell the property and house, so they could afford the farm on Olde Mill Hill. So they did and they could.

Now starts the real challenge for them to not only survive, but to maintain their farm and start a family, so both of their dreams come true.
