Since the NBA started tracking play-by-play data (1996-97), only one player has made more than 10 dunks in a game ... Shaquille O’Neal. He’s done it three times.

Thanks to the annual Harvey Pollack's NBA Statistical Yearbooks, we have access to a dunk total for every player in the league, starting from the 1987-88 season. This dunk count makes it clear that O'Neal is head and shoulders above everyone else in that department. He has 2,626 "official" dunks from 1996-97 through 2010-11 and 1,188 additional dunks from 1992-93 through 1995-96, making his total a whopping 3,814 career slams. That makes him the NBA's all-time dunks leader by far.

In addition, O'Neal also holds these unofficial records:

• Most dunks in a game - 13

• Most dunks in a season - 381

• Most career games with 10+ dunks - 8

• Most seasons leading the league in dunks per game - 14 (consecutive)

• Highest dunks per game average for a season - 4.7
