i know we’ve all been enjoying dunking on elon musk bc he’s an idiot who’s actively burning twitter and whatever “genius” reputation he’s built to the ground but i genuinely hate him so much not just bc of his self tilting political leanings but also his wild disregard for human welfare. i know we’re all a bit jaded about the whole “teslas are deathtraps that will spontaneously combust and lock you inside and whose autopilot doesn’t recognize a large category of people” thing but reading about the primate trials for this neurolink bullshit is genuinely terrifying. the fact that he hopes to start human trials in 6 months is ... i don’t have words.
this man has money and wants above all things to be liked and applauded, regardless of reality, and people buy into his shit. people are going to buy into this and it’s going to kill them and he’s not going to willingly take any responsibility, if his past lack of action is any indication.

fic guessing game: [pat sajack voice] do we have any ayuh’s?
ALAS, I am a coward, and there are no ayuhs as such in the text. That said, can I interest you in:
The stranger coughed, and used that beautifully all-purpose noise of assent Sam had only ever heard since coming north of Kittery.
and,
Malloy made that peculiarly Maine noise of agreement.
(both from the "Sam & Bill meet hitchiking (back) into Collinsport in 1936" prequel fic i keep pecking at but don't have a unified narrative for.)
Send me a word, if it’s in my wip document I’ll answer your ask with the sentence that it appears in

This is so funny as the inverse of being a new Englander saying “why are those states so big what’s even there” but RI really goes have a lot going on for such a tiny state that does have a lot of lovely nature

Okay but it needs to be understood that everything that takes place in connecticut comes in 3 forms; 1. we have rich characters who will be from this one section(fairfield county) that just a really rich suburb of NYC/basically upstate NY 2. This is a thriller about rich people from that same county 3. A lot of Adam Sandler films....for some reason. Whenever new haven county is addressed its usually just actually about Yale which is like if every movie set in LA only focused on UCLA or Columbia if it was set in NYC, like ONLY that. Even As Told By Ginger is probably meant to take place in fucking fairfield county. I’ve worked in fairfield county, its fucking insufferable. So having Owl House be about my New Haven county is such a win that took so fucking long for some reason. To have people googling and marvel at places that I’ve just known as my life is hilarious and just charming in its own way.
Another day I could probably do a long overdue presentation on dissing fairfield county and how I will tear my hair out for it being the representation of the state as a whole when it’s more in line with upstate new york but another day.

"Townsends" is a highly underrated channel and I enjoy their explorations into the 18th century very much.
As a native Nutmegger, it also makes me strangely nostalgic for my home state.

whats the most common reaction to Connecticut’s driving?
“Hey. Don’t… This is a train tunnel. Turn back. Nutmeg. Nutmeg. Train tunnel—!”
“Relax,” Connecticut laughed, refusing to lift his foot off the gas, “Nobody’s in it!”
North Carolina white-knucked his ceiling handle for dear life, wondering why the hell he asked Connecticut of all people to help him drop his car off at the shop.
He didn’t know the answer to that question.
He also didn’t know how either of them were still alive on this car ride.
He really thought they were done for when Connecticut started swerving back and forth through incredibly busy lanes, cutting other reckless drivers off on the highway.
And then there was that time they almost hit a school bus.
And then there was that high-speed chase after the cops saw Connecticut use the stoplights and speed limits as ‘guidelines’ instead of legally binding ordinances.
And then there was the time Nutmeg lost the cops by speeding off the road, almost hitting a grandma on the way.
Luckily, Nutmeg’s windows are tinted and the license plate got torn off back when he pulled out of the parking garage, so when they got away, they were pretty confident the police didn’t have enough evidence to press charges.
Yep, NC thought he was going to die from fear.
He was pretty sure he was already going. He saw a bright light in the distance—
Wait.
Either he’s finally dying or—
“…Aw, fu— TRAIN!”
Connecticut’s eyes widened at the locomotive speeding towards them, switching the car into reverse as quickly as possible and putting all his weight on the gas.
“No need to worry!” The Nutmegger assured, speeding back, “We can make it!”
“We can’t make it!”
“We can make it!”
“We can’t!”
“Aw, c’mon, be a bit more positive! What’s with the negativity?”
“Oh, I don’t know dearest brother. Maybe we’re abOUT TO GET HIT BY A TRAIN—!”
“For the last time Carol, I know what I’m doing!”
“DON’T CALL ME THAT! I REFUSE TO BE CALLED ‘CAROL’ IN MY FINAL MOMENTS—”
“I REFUSE TO DIE IN A F**KING HONDA CIVIC!”
“HONDA CIVI—?” North Carolina looked around, realizing that this was definitely not Connecticut’s own Honda CR-V, “THIS ISN’T YOUR CAR?”
“OF COURSE IT’S NOT!” CT cackled, “IT’S CALI’S! I LOST MY CAR PRIVILEGES MONTHS AGO!”
“LOST—!?”
“APPARENTLY YOU NEED SOMETHING CALLED A ‘DRIVERS LICENSE’ TO DRIVE??”
“…”
North Carolina took a deep breath and laid his head down on the dashboard.
“If we survive this,” He muttered, “I’m going to murder you.”

15 questions for 15 mutuals - posted by @kiradical
Are you named after anyone? Nope, my father had no opinions on a name until he found out my mother wanted something rhyming. He jumped in to save me from that.
Do you have any kids? Absolutely not.
Do you use sarcasm a lot? Nutmeggers speak, yes.
When was the last time you cried? Putting a pet to sleep.
What’s the first thing you notice about people? How they speak. Sounds like pitch and intonation, not really speech.
Eye color? The brownest of brown.
What sports do you/have you played? T-ball and that's it. Never again.
Any special talent? That I would share publicly? no.
Where were you born? CT.
Scary movies or happy ending? Gore can be shocking, but I never really felt scared so it's not too entertaining. Happy ending when it's not over the top.
Do you have any pets? Not currently.
How tall are you? 6’1”
What are your hobbies? Gardening, tabletop games, keeping up with politics (contemporary & academic history).
Favourite subject in school? Environmental remediation and anthropology.
Dream job? The one that pays well enough that I don't consider finding others.
I tag whoever sees this and wants to do it.
