Onion Skin - Graphic Novel Review
Rolando doesn't know what to do with his life, so he does what any clueless person with some funds would do - start a food truck with a stranger! Read our review of "Onion Skin".
⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 3 out of 5. Well, this was kinda underwhelming, with confusing time-jumps, and stock characters. However, the artwork in the graphic novel “Onion Skin” by Edgar Camacho is fun, vibrant and visually very engaging. So brownie points just for the colorful illustrations! Plot overview – Rolando hates his job but doesn’t know what to do with his life when he is fired from the place with…

can you do one fanfic where reader is helping Tom with homework but he can’t focus on it since he’s to busy staring at her and they end up having yk idk where this idea came from tbh 😭😭
ᡣ𐭩 tom, homework, and a pretty girl
clearly he wasn’t listening. it’s been about ten minutes since you’ve been rambling about how cations, anions or fucking—tom doesn’t know, how onions work. an hour since you came over to his house that was currently vacant since his parents went out for dinner with bill and as punishment left tom behind.
you walked in through the front door with an oversized sweatshirt and the shortest shorts that rid up your thigh every time you took a step. watching you even take of his shoes tom had to swallow the hard lump in his throat and physically hold back from palming himself in front of you.
“and that’s when.. tom? you okay?” you ask, tucking a strand of hair behind your hair as you leaning closer to him as you stare up at his face. pouting when you realized he was distracted and wasn’t paying attention to your aid. crossing your arms in frustration. he thinks this is so cute.
“u-uh, yeah mhm ‘m listening sweets,” you widen your eyes at the sudden pet name, cheeks heating up momentarily when you realize it’s just natural for him to call you that. he was your boyfriend after all. sighing, you pick up the led pencil and poke his forehead with the eraser end.
“o-ow!” “c’mon tom! exams are soon and we gotta focus, you’re missing dinner because of this!” tom whines and leans an arm on the table, resting his head in the palm of his hand as he just stares at you sulking. “fineee.” he switches the page of the textbook to review new content.
and there you go. off talking about something else that he could really care less about, instead staring at the glint in your eyes knowing your passion for the academics. the way your lashes flutter as you blink fast talking about chemistry and the ways of science. he feels himself getting unbearably hard in his sweatpants.
the way you speak and how words roll of your tongue so easily, lips glistening under the warm lamp light in the setting of his dim bedroom. eyes shifting down towards to look at your thighs pressed together on the seat, plush and soft to touch as he runs his hand over the surface of your skin.
you shudder under his touch, surprised by the sudden action as you had assumed tom asserted concentration over the exam prep. well, clearly not seeing as how he brings a hand to the crook of your neck to bring you close in for a kiss. bringing the bottom of your lip in between his teeth as he slightly tugs at it.
“t-tom.. not now..” “baby please, i can’t focus..” “and it hurts..” you look down to face tom’s groin that’s visibly hard under the oh so baggy sweatpants, gasping. he can’t help but get hard at how sexy his girl looks trying to help him study! but he’s a lost cause when it comes to the academics.
“i need you now, schatzi.. promise i’ll make it up t’ya,” “f-fine..” he presses a kiss to the temple of your forehead, playing with the button of your shorts to help you take them off quicker, “appreciate cha,” “you better,” he giggles as he finally removes your bottoms, slowly pulling his sweats down.
getting onto his lap, tom frees himself from his boxers, dick standing tall and pretty. bringing your arms to wrap around his shoulders, he brings his hand to toy with your clit, rubbing circles as he swiftly moves to insert two digits into your cunt, “wet already hm?” smirking at how you frown and try to hide your by leaning your head on his shoulder.
“stop teasing..” “alrightalright i got you pretty,” lifting your hips, tom uses both of his arms to position yourself above him, feeling his dick prod your entrance you tremble and shake, tom swears he can cum at the sight itself, salivating from his mouth as he drops you onto his length.
with a loud ‘fwop!’ sound, tom is quickly and already balls deep in you, pussy remembering the shape of his dick as you mold to him so easily. tom lets out lewd moan and he shivers from how good it feels to finally be inside you, “fuuuuck baby, been s’long.. needed this.. needed you..”
he can’t stop jerking his hips into you. like a dog in rut, tom fucks his length into you with no mercy, like a man who hasn’t gotten pussy in weeks but it’s only been a few days with you since you’ve last fucked. biting into your shoulders, you whimper in the pain and pleasure.
“ah! tom—fuck—too fast!” “yeah? want me t’go faster?” “n-no! not what i meant—mmph, s-slow down!” he kneads your ass within both of his hands, feeling and pinching at the flesh of your body as he angles your hips so he can hit your g spot juuuuust right.
after all, this is just as rewarding for you as it is him.
you see white, vision blurry as your tear ducts fill with tears. mind hazy, drunk out on his cock as he machines his hips into yours, only a slapping sound filling the silent room that was once occupied by the scribble of a pencil. tom breaths heavy and his thrusts become sloppy, but that doesn’t stop him from fucking his tip deep into your cervix.
he repeats your name as though it’s the only word he’s ever learned, pounding into you mercilessly not caring about the aching pain in his hips from the weird cowgirl position he has you in the office chair. wet and sticky, your juices mixed with his cum soil the cushion of the office chair as it drips off tom’s legs.
“making such a mess aren’t cha? p-pussy feels so fuckin’ good,” he groans to then bring his tongue to lick a stripe up the length of your neck. “ah! tom!” and he doesn’t stop, nor does he slow down per request, “my pretty girl is so smart, so generous, helping her dumb boyfriend with his homework.”
sending you over the edge, tom whispers sweet words into your ears, talking about how this is his reward for how you’re such a good girlfriend and he doesn’t deserve your help. how his dick was made for rewarding his baby whenever she helps him with something. how your pussy was made to take his cock, your reward. “f-fuck, schatzi ‘m cumming..!” creaming around his cock, you clench tightly around him, leading tom to his own orgasm as he paints your insides white.
as he humps his hips against yours, he stills himself and breaths his orgasm out, you attempting to catch your own breath, tongue lolled out as your head still rests on his shoulder. tapping your shoulder, you raise your head to face him as he smiles at you, “hi my love,” “hi..”
“now how bout that homework?”

Note
tumblr user feyburner, i have a confession. i don't know how to roast a chicken, or do anything with a chicken, and at this point i'm afraid to ask.
I can tell you're afraid to ask bc this isn't really a question. But I will answer it anyway. I'm always happy to talk about chicken.
You’ll be pleased to learn that roasting a chicken is so easy. The below explanation is quite long bc I am including all the information I can remember, to set you up for chicken roasting success. But, essentially, you’re rubbing a chicken in oil and seasonings and putting him in the oven for like an hour. Done.
Remember that people have been roasting whole chickens since the dawn of time using whatever they had around bc it’s the most low effort, high reward meal ever. You could say the word “salt” in a chicken’s general direction and toss him at a candle flame and he would still turn out great.
To roast a chicken:
Buy a whole chicken, however big you want. 4-5 lbs is enough to feed 3-5 people with leftovers.
Prepare a workspace with a plastic cutting board (not wooden bc raw chicken juices) and paper towels.
Remove the giblets, pin feathers, extra flaps:
1. Stick your hand up his primary orifice and pull out anything loose. There is usually a handful of little organs like heart and gizzards and sometimes these strings of pale bean looking things (tbh not sure what those are). Save these for stock, except the liver (super dark squishy organ) which will disintegrate. You can eat the liver separate if you want.
2. Trim off any sticky-outy bits that have pin feathers on them, and the flaps of fat/gristle over his orifice. Save the fatty bits for stock. Leave the triangle of fat directly above the orifice (his tail).
Pat the chicken dry with paper towels inside and out. Get him as dry as possible.
Spatchcock: You don’t have to spatchcock/butterfly but I like to, bc it maximizes outer surface area for that good good crispy skin. Also easier to get breasts and thighs done at the same rate.
All you have to do is cut the backbone out of the chicken with poultry shears or kitchen scissors if you’re desperate. Then push down hard to crack the breastbone so he lies super flat. Save the backbone for stock or jus. How to spatchcock step by step guide.
Dry brine: Prepare a bowl of coarse kosher salt. More salt than you’d think. Like 1 Tbsp per lb of meat. Rub salt over the whole chicken inside and out. Don’t skimp on the salt especially on the inside. It will not make your chicken crazy salty, it doesn't penetrate the meat that deep. Also some will be wiped off before you cook.
Put the chicken on a wire rack on a baking sheet and chill uncovered in the fridge for 2-24 hours. The point of this step is the salt draws moisture to the surface of the chicken, which then evaporates in the circulating fridge air. It helps you get crispy chicken skin.
Dry brine + resting isn't 100% necessary, if for some reason you must produce a roasted chicken on a time crunch. But it's a good practice.
Roasting time:
Pat excess moisture off chicken inside and out. If you did not spatchcock you can stuff the inside with a halved lemon or garlic head, herbs, whatever you want.
Seasoning rub: Prepare a small bowl with olive oil (maybe 1/4-1/3 cup?), salt, freshly cracked black pepper, and whatever dried herbs and spices you want. A good starter is: salt, pepper, parsley sage rosemary thyme, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder. I love me some Cajun spice mix like Slap Ya Mama. Start with like 1-2 tsp of each (1 tsp spices, 2 tsp dried herbs) and build from there. Don’t be shy. Recipes on the internet are like “Use 1/2 tsp herbs for this whole recipe” because they’re heading off 1-star reviews from annoying people who can’t handle a molecule of flavor. Season with your heart, your pussy, and your balls. Don’t be ashamed to use a store-bought spice rub. It’s not lazy, it’s efficient. Also, who gives a shit.
Rub the oil all over Mr. Chicken like he’s an Ancient Greek warrior-prince you’re preparing for the Olympic Games.
Some recipes tell you to use butter, or slip butter under the skin, but butter has higher water content than oil and might not get you the ideal crispy skin. You can do whatever you want though. It’s your chicken.
Preheat the oven to 425°. People will tell you a billion different temperatures—screaming hot, low and slow—but I’m here to tell you that it is so hard to fuck up a roast chicken, you can experiment and the results will always be great.
I like to start at a high temp for 30 minutes to get the skin crisping and then reduce to 375° for the rest of the time to avoid burning. Sometimes you’ll have to cover him with foil if the seasonings start charring. That’s fine.
General cook time: 20 minutes per lb of meat, give or take 20 depending on oven temp. A 4-5 lb chicken at 425° -> 375° generally takes me ~1 hour 20 minutes. If you do low and slow at like 325° it might take 2+ hours. Just check on him periodically. Tbh it’s harder to overcook a chicken than you probably think. 5 minutes, or even 10-20 minutes, is NOT the difference between beautiful tender juicy chicken and a bone-dry tragedy. Chicken is not turkey. He is versatile and he can take it.
Pull the chicken when a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part reads 145° or above. (160° is the “safe temp” but 1. The temp will continue to rise for a few minutes after it leaves the oven, and 2. 160° is the temp at which bacteria dies immediately. 145° is fine for eating. Disclaimer: I am not a scientist just a guy who makes a lot of chicken.)
If you don’t have a thermometer, pull the chicken when you insert a knife into the thickest part and the juices run clear. Gorgeous.
Let him sit for 10-20 minutes before carving. When carving, find the oysters and give them to your favorite person or take them as the Cook’s Bounty.
**********************
Again, this explanation is quite long because I included lots of detail. If you do it even one time, you'll realize it's incredibly easy and intuitive and doesn't take much time at all.
Godspeed!

Lyrical allusions
The lyrics on Unreal Unearth are informed by texts such as Irish writer Flann O’Brien’s philosophical 1967 novel, The Third Policeman, Dante's Inferno, and Jonathon Swift.
De Selby (Part 1)
At last, when all of the world is asleep You take in the blackness of air The likes of a darkness so deep That God at the start couldn’t bear
"Human existence being an hallucination containing in itself the secondary hallucinations of day and night (the latter an insanitary condition of the atmosphere due to accretions of black air) it ill becomes any man of sense to be concerned at the illusory approach of the supreme hallucination known as death." The Third Policeman - Flann O'Brien
Bhfuilis soranna sorcha Ach tagais 'nós na hoíche Trína chéile; le chéile Bhfuilis soranna sorcha Claochlaithe is claochlú an ealaín Is ealaín dubh í Bhfuilis soranna sorcha Ach tagais 'nós na hoíche Trína chéilе; le chéile Bhfuilis soranna sorcha Claochlaithe is claochlú an еalaín Is ealaín dubh í
Although your bright and light […] You arrived to me like nightfall, you come like nightfall You and I sort of mixed together You and I metamorphosized So that same idea of you can’t see where one begins and where one ends that, that is some kind of metamorphosis of some kind
“a body with another body inside it in turn, thousands of such bodies within each other like the skins of an onion, receding to some unimaginable ultimum”
De Selby (Part 2)

What you're given, what you live in Darlin', it finds a way to live in you
"The gross and net result of it is that people who spent most of their natural lives riding iron bicycles over the rocky roadsteads of this parish get their personalities mixed up with the personalities of their bicycle as a result of the interchanging of the atoms of each of them and you would be surprised at the number of people in these parts who are nearly half people and half bicycles"
First Time
Tumblr media
Remember once I told you about How before I heard it from your mouth My name would always hit my ears as such an awful sound
First Time refers to Beatrice Smiles: Canto XXXI - Dante's meeting with Beatrice after being left by Virgil, where she rebukes him for his sins. Dante does not remember his name but recognises Beatrice. He was dunked into the River of Forgetting by Matelda
“Respond, you of poor memory, confess. _Lethe awaits. Your thoughts are undeterred.”
These days I think I owe my life To flowers that were left here by my mother Ain't that like them, giftin' life to you again
Tumblr media
Francesca
Tumblr media
In Dante's Inferno, the character of Beatrice embodies love inspired by God - she is a religious object that should inspire faith, devotion, and salvation. By contrast, the character of Francesca da Rimini is encountered in the Terrace of Lust. She was a medieval noblewoman who was killed by her husband, Giovanni Malatesta upon discovering an affair between her and Paolo Malatesta (his brother). She represents love that leads one's soul to destruction.
I would not change it each time Heaven is not fit to house a love like you and I I would not change it each time
"Love led us to one death, conjointly felled. __For him who slew us, Cäina waits below."
I Carrion (Icarian)
Tumblr media
One deep breath out from the sky I've reached a rarer height now that I can confirm All our weight is just a burden offered to us by the world
This song has a connection with Inferno 17. Phaeton, Icarus, Daedalus and Arachne: are symbolic of Ulysses, the embodiment of transgression in Dante’s personal mythography. Icarus is a figure of fear for because he was equipped by his father to alter the boundaries of man's physical nature. It is the sin of pride that leads one to folly.
Tumblr media
Eat Your Young
“Eat Your Young”, a contemporary riff on the Irish writer Jonathan Swift’s 1729 satirical essay “A Modest Proposal” that suggests Irish people eat their children to alleviate their hunger and poverty.
Come and get some Skinnin' the children for a war drum Puttin' food on the table sellin' bombs and guns It's quicker and easier to eat your young
The first verse also contains allusions to Canto 6 of Inferno - this level is related to "gluttony" but it's used by Dante to discuss the political landscape and moral failures of the City of Florence. Gluttony, in this case, is defined as excessive desire for dominion and power. So Hozier comments on inequality and poverty with a distinctly political air.
Tumblr media
Damage Gets Done
Here Hozier refers to Canto 7 of Inferno and the concept of misura - a lack of moderation or self-control
And darlin', I haven't felt it since then I don't know how the feelin' ended But I know being reckless and young Is not how the damage gets done
In this Canto, Dante is discussing wealth management - hoarding and wasteful spending. While avarice is a traditionally Christian sin, Dante inserts the sin of prodigality by himself. This tells us that Dante's moral standard is not essentially Christian. Hozier also plays with the intentions of the texts he refers to and inserts his own takes on philosophy and biography. Very Dantean, if you ask me.
Tumblr media
Who We Are
I think this is a narrative shift similar to Canto 8-9 where the fallibility of Virgil is explored and the tension between faith and fear.
You only feel it when it's lost Gettin' through still has a cost Quietly, it slips through your fingers, love Falling from you drop by drop What I had left here I just held it tight So someone with your eyes might come in time To hold me like water Or Christ, hold me like a knife
Tumblr media
Son of Nyx
Tumblr media
All Things End
The mystery at the heart of Inferno 10, the mystery that generates its enormous poetic power, is the connection of love to sin.
All Things End is superficially about the end of a relationship but it's also about heresy. The specific heresy in the canto is Epicureanism: materialism that suggests the soul dies with the body. It is a denial of the idea of an immortal soul and a "wilful separation of the soul from God". The Epicureans in Canto 10 are represented as eternally trapped in the temporary and ephemeral materialistic reality of the present. They are denied what is eternal and transcendent (ie divine)
And all things end All that we intend is scrawled in sand And slips right through our hands And just knowing That everything will end Should not change our plans When wе begin again
To Someone From A Warm Climate (Uiscefhuarithe)
‘Uiscefhuarithe’, as described by Hozier, is an irish word for ‘something that has been made cold by water’.
Tumblr media
Butchered Tongue
The Genius annotation gives a lot of detail here: In “Butchered Tongue”, Hozier tackles the 7th Circle of Hell Canto XII to XVII, known as the ‘Circle of Violence or Hell of the Violent and Bestial’ which is one of the lower circles of Hell and is divided into three distinct rings, each punishing different types of violence. The track focuses mainly on the first ring called the ‘Outer Ring’ where those who commit violence against others and their property are punished by being submerged in a river of boiling blood called the Phlegethôn, and centaurs patrol the area, shooting arrows at those who emerge from the blood.
Tumblr media
The song has a number of allusions to the horrors of colonial violence.
Anything But
I think this song refers to Canto 26 which establishes the critical metaphor that equates desire with flying. Here Dante encounters Ulysses - the embodiment of the epic wandering hero.
"But here one must fly, I mean with the swift wings and the pinions of great desire."
Canto 26 is critical of imperial ambitions and expansionism as Dante casts the city of Florence as a giant bird of prey whose wings beat over land and sea. This is thought as representing a specter of tyranny.
Dante presents Ulysses as the ultimate flawed hero that embodies the expression of desire as flight. Hozier expresses his desire for flight and wandering in Anything But.
I wanna be the shadow when my bright future's behind me I wanna be the last thing anybody ever sees I hear he touches your hand, and then you fly away together If I had his job, you would live forever
Abstract (Psychopomp)
Here Hozier references a childhood trauma of witnessing an animal being hit by a car and Canto 28. It's somewhat alike to the canto in a metatextual sense because it presents a gruesome picture. In Inferno 28 souls are mutilated by devils. The language is pretty clinical and graphic, like the song.
"Who, even with untrammeled words and many attempts at telling, ever could recount in full the blood and wounds that I now saw?."
The poor thing in the road, its eye still glistening The cold wet of your nose, the earth from a distance
Unknown / Nth
This one has a lot of references that have been discussed by Hozier for its allusions to the ninth circle of Hell and Cantos 34. The ninth circle is sometimes referred to as treachery but the sin is fraud.
betrayal is fraud committed against those who trust us
Hozier said he conceived of Satan/the Devil as the first prisoner of hell. I've got to link the Digital Dante article about this Canto because it's very relevant:
You know the distance never made a difference to me I swam a lake of fire, I'd have walked across the floor of any sea Ignored the vastness between all that can be seen And all that we believe So I thought you were like an angel to me
First Light
Tumblr media
One bright morning changes all things Soft and easy as your breathing, you wake Your eyes open at first a thousand miles away But turning shoot a silver bullet point-blank range And I can scarce believe what I'm believing in Could this be how every day begins?
"Whichever day it was, it was a gentle day – mild, magical and innocent with great sailings of white cloud serene and impregnable in the high sky, moving along like kingly swans on quiet water. The sun was in the neighbourhood also, distributing his enchantment unobtrusively, colouring the sides of things that were unalive and livening the hearts of living things" - The Third Policeman

Procreate Dreams
I've been playing around in Procreate Dreams for about a week or so now, and I think I've got enough of a handle on the software to offer a fair review! If you're interested in hearing my thoughts, click the read-more below.
A little context before we get started; I have two degrees in animation, but they're both in 3D. My personal specialty is tech and articulation/rigging, but I think my background puts me in a unique position with Procreate Dreams; I know all of the theory behind animation, but I'm not going into Procreate Dreams and comparing it to a professional-grade software I generally prefer to use (like Toon Boom Harmony, for example).
So, let's get into it!
First Impressions
I hated it. I opened the software, it crashed. I couldn't figure out how to enable onion skins. I couldn't increase or decrease the exposure of my frames. I couldn't figure out how to swap to the eraser. I was confused, I was frustrated, and then I realized that I was expecting to jump in and animate without taking the time to learn the software first.
Once I stopped trying to strong-arm it and started looking up documentation, things got a little easier.
Re-Thinking My Approach
Procreate Dreams isn't comparable to any other animation software I've used before. The UI is different, there's a focus on gesture over buttons, and everything about it is meant to be minimalistic. None of this reflects poorly on the program, in my opinion. It's different. You can't go to Procreate Dreams and get mad at it for not being like the other software out there in terms of how it's used. In fact, I think one area of Dreams that should be applauded is the sheer ambition on display. It's a hybrid of traditional frame-by-frame animation and offers a slimmed down version of some of After Effects' most useful compositing & motion graphics tools. That's just plain cool.
The Good
For those of you who've used Procreate Dreams, you may find it's a little... difficult to see all the good it has to offer through the muddied waters it's launch-day bugs kicked up, but under all the grime, there's a little bit of gold.
Dreams is a one time, $20 USD purchase. That's huge in terms of affordability and accessibility in the software market right now.
The "Perform" option is great, and I think we'll see the longer that it's out, the more creative people are going to get in using it. I've already seen people create gorgeous parallax on their illustrations.
Simple compatibility with Procreate is a huge win. I'm finding my pipeline uses both software together.
The UI is a mixed bag overall, but I find the ability to move between flipnote mode and timeline mode to be great. It keeps the screen free, but I can still access the features I need while doing frame-by-frame.
The move/filters option is a great way to add a little compositing magic to your work.
The Bad
The "bad" here exclusively covers issues with the software as intended. Bugs will be covered under "The Ugly" below.
The lack of a lasso tool is a huge setback. I've seen people saying that it doesn't make sense not to have that feature at launch, especially when it's part of Procreate, but I understand why it may have been difficult to implement in conjunction with the move/perform/warp options. If you save a warp on top of an illustration, then cut and move part of the drawing, how is the warp/local translation data applied to that image? Does the pixel remember it's movement, or is it applied on top of the drawing? There's a lot to consider.
Similarly, the "reference" tool in Procreate would be an excellent tool to add color to layers beneath current layers. "Add Reference Track" would be great! That said, I think this conflicts with the move/warp tools like the above.
The timeline is a time sink. I should be able to adjust the exposure of my frames easily and consistently. As of right now, I have an 80-20 shot of selecting my layer or grabbing the handle for exposure. A small button on the edge of each frame (like a dot) would improve this considerably.
As far as I can tell, you can't mask a group onto another group.
No double-tap on the Apple Pencil 2 to swap to the eraser. This one I'm not sure about; it runs in Procreate, it seems simple to implement here... though it'd be great to see it customizable.
The Ugly
This includes bugs and other issues that are separate from the features (or lack thereof) of Procreate Dreams.
Crashes are frequent. I haven't used the software reliably during any of my sessions so far, but Dreams' autosave feature is extremely strong and very forgiving, so I have lost no work.
My pen pressure become erratic at times, necessitating a restart of the software.
Sometimes my pen will stop working, though other features in the app will continue to run.
The good news is, I think that Dreams is overall a huge win for artists and animators worldwide. Everything that's not working about Dreams will hopefully be resolved in future updates. I'd encourage anyone who wants to try animating for the first time to pick it up-- with the understanding it might take some time to get used to/master.

Ninjago Headcannons (pt.2)
warnings: none🦐
Nyas the big spoon and Jay's the little spoon
Zane has Nya taste test all of the food he makes because he values her opinion the most(aside from Pixal, who cannot eat)
Dareth is a hard core stoner and always smells like weed
Kai has a really extensive skin/body/hair care routine
He'll be in the bathroom for 2 hours on Wednesday and Sunday(his everything shower days) doing skincare, haircare, and body care
He also has one of those skin care headbands to stop his hair from getting in his face while he does his skincare
he also has the scrunchi bracelets to stop water from rolling down his arms when he washes his face
Zane likes those test ur intuition videos on tiktok
Coles a firm believer that you have to try something before you say you don't like it
Jay can't handle spicy food
Jay thinks Takis are spicy
Despite being good with technology, Zane's usually the last one the ninjas go to if they need help with something techy
Kai doesn't like chips, any of them- Takis, lays, cheetos, dorittos, onion rings, not even chicharrones de harina
(Chicharrones are a type of Mexican chips shaped like wheels, usually served with lime juice and some sort of spice mix or sauce)
Nya puts tajín on everything
(for those who don't know what tajín is, it's a seasoning that originates in Mexico. I think it's more salty than spicy but it's really good on fruit)
Cole saw Kai putting chamoy sauce on a slice of chocolate cake once, and since Cole believes in trying things he tried it
He actually really liked it and now puts chamoy sauce on his chocolate cake most of the time
Nya journals and scrapbooks as a hobby
Jays favorite shape of ice is sphere ice
according to him it tastes better when he chews/sucks on it
Nya likes to do those little hair wraps with embroidery string
Nya really wanted to be a girl scout when she was a kid, but never could because money was tight
Jay's allergic to shellfish
They all watch The Real Housewives of Ninjago together
Zane and Lloyd come up with the best code names for people the ninjas talk about a lot
Nya is a pilates girly
She dragged Jay and Kai to a class with her once
Jay struggled and decided he didn't like it but Kai still goes with her sometimes
Cole has bacne
Since Kai's the skincare guru Cole went to him for help
Kai spent an hour searching the internet for a well reviewed bacne wash
He didn't like any of them and just bought Cole the type of face wash he uses and told Cole to wash his back with it
Kai also spent a good amount of time looking for good creams and ointments for Cole to use
But Cole couldn't reach his back to wash it and apply the ointments and creams, so now Kai spends 10 or 15 minutes a day helping Cole with his bacne routine
Lloyd is freakishly flexible
Zane is not flexible at all

have you reviewed the meditite line?
Tumblr media
Meditite is one of my favorite types of Pokemon, that being the weird creature that's vaguely humanoid but in a way that makes it really hard to describe easily. In this case, it's an onion-headed creature that has meditation as a theme, with two swirls on the sides of its head and a primarily blue body.
As a whole, while I like Medicham more, this design is pretty good. I like the shape of the head, especially with how perfectly the eyes interlock with it. Speaking of eyes, they have a very distinct look to them, as does the mouth.
My only real issue with Meditite is that the white around the waist looks a bit weird—maybe if the white just extended down the leg a bit more. Also, I do wish it resembled its evo more. There are a few small similarities—gray skin, flat doll-like eyes, weird head structure—but I feel like the resemblance could've been better. I think this mostly could've been fixed by just swapping out the blue for Medicham's pink.
Tumblr media
The shiny basically does this, and it works perfectly (though I would still keep the skin the neutral gray).
Tumblr media
Medicham is such a weird looking 'mon, but I've always found myself really liking it. Something about those giant-ass legs and skinny body just gives it a really neat shape, and it's the right combo of strange and elegant. The baggy "pants" have just the right amount of gold accents and markings on them, which are accented by the same colors and shapes being used on the head.
Tumblr media
My one complaint here is that the head thing doesn't go around the back of the head, so it's just kind of stuck in the front.
Tumblr media
The 3D model up top actually makes this worse, as the pink used to extend down the head to a degree back when sprites were being used. I guess they changed it to be more accurate to the official art, but frankly I'd rather it not line up one-to-one if the overall model looks better.
Tumblr media
And Mega Medicham's also really good; by far my favorite of the line. A lot of megas struggle with just being the originals with Stuff(TM) added to their designs without rhyme or reason, but Mega Medicham's got a very clear theme with the addition of psychic arms, which are vaguely Buddist/Hindu-esq and also make sense for a partial fighting-type.
But the other thing that works about it is that it feels like it improves and expands upon Medicham's base design in just the right way without going overboard. The somewhat awkward head piece has been replaced with a more turban-like design, and the arms have gained two golden bands, which carry the color through the design better than the original. The sheer size of the legs has been reduced down without loosing their visual punch, and they've been given a more natural shape as well. A few extra layers of gold bands have been added above the "pants" along with a row of blue beads, which accent its new blue eyes. It's better balanced in both color and form.
Another little detail I like about it is that it also makes the entire line look better by harkening back to Meditite—note how the blue accents are the same color as Meditite's body, or how the white hat matches its head better, or how the gold bands on the arms are placed similarly to Meditiate's white stripes. Good stuff.
My only little nitpick is that the pink plume on the top of the head looks a bit odd. It's meant to match the three plumes on the base design, but I feel like you could've extended the middle piece above the gold center, then made that and the two on the sides pink to achieve a similar effect. That's minor, though.
Tumblr media
Overall, I like this one a lot. Meditite's got a few coherency issues with the rest of the line but still manages to have a unique design that continues into Medicham. Mega Medicham expands on the theme and improves the overall design in a meaningful way. Good stuff all around.

Hey all. Well, I've got a little bit to share. I've been back to work and trying to work in time to write this week, with very limited success. And I can't post what I'm working on for Snow Fox right now, as it's pure smut, lol. Saving Simon Snow and The Heart Under the Well are still under review until my brain unblocks about them. So here's just two snippets. Thank you, @alexalexinii, @nausikaaa, @that-disabled-princess, @iamamythologicalcreature, @you-remind-me-of-the-babe, @artsyunderstudy, @ileadacharmedlife, @hushed-chorus, @whatevertheweather, @prettygoododds, @shrekgogurt for the tags!
From Stars, Flowers, and Children:
I roll forward and, cupping handfuls of water to pull me along, I descend towards the bottom.
Baz leads me a long way, it seems. We both have to surface to breathe twice before he finds what he wants to show me. And, in the meantime, the water is peeling away layers of pain and sadness from me like I might peel the outer layers from a wild onion Baz foraged for us.
I feel washed clean on the inside, not just the outside. Swimming through the coral, watching the tiny colourful fish dance in and out of sunbeams, feeling the cool pressure of the water on every inch of my skin…it’s all so wonderful that I could burst from the sudden joy beating at my ribcage.
From TikTok Dancer:
Dev snorts in disgust at the idea of taking a nap, but Niall regards me sympathetically. “Still can’t sleep on planes then?”
“No. Hence hotel room, nap, etc. Capisci?”
“Look at you!” Dev crows from the back. “Talking like an American already!”
“Fuck off, Dev. That was Italian.” I roll my eyes.
A few tags/waves hello and I'll say good-night (I really need to make a copy/paste tag list, note to self): @bookish-bogwitch, @carryonsimoncarryonbaz, @ivelovedhimthroughworse, @ic3-que3n, @j-nipper-95, @larkral, @nightimedreamersghost, @rimeswithpurple, @raenestee, @tea-brigade, @theearlgreymage, @stardustasincocaine

There was a place near my office that notoriously got a zero stars review from the New York Snobby Times but had this chicken and rice dish that I loooooved.
During pandemic all the office workers left midtown so they didn’t survive :( but I just tried to make an approximation at home and I think I got it pretty close (expect that my rice as usual is clumpy).
At 450°F oven I roasted grated parmesan, cherry tomatoes, and some excess skin from chicken thighs (lots of baking sheets to clean 😭).
Rice cooked in stock with an onion and two cloves of garlic sautéed, then 2 tbsp tomato paste and a small sprig of rosemary.
I used the rendered fat from the chicken skins to cook the chicken thighs on stovetop and thew in another sprig of rosemary.
Once everything was done I mixed a serving together and topped with scallions and a squeeze of lemon.
It’s really nice to get the crunch from the Parmesan crisps and the chicken skins!
Maybe next time I’d add some paprika to the rice, and maybe cook the chicken with some thyme as well as rosemary?
If I could actually cook rice properly it would be a solid 8/10 but I’ll give it 7/10 with my clumpy rice.

-Full Procreate Dreams review-
firstly, i am by no means an animator, i’ve done a few short animations but nothing big or frequent, so if you don’t think i have the authority to judge an animation based app, then that’s totally fine
(also i’m sorry it’s super long, i added a TLDR as compensation)
outline:
🔺Overview of Procreate Dreams
i will judge it on:
🔺Bare minimum (does it do the bare minimum as an animation app)
🔺Features (are the features it has good, are there enough, does it need any more, etc.)
🔺User-friendliness (can it be easily understood without using tutorials)
🔺Functionality (do the features function, in its current state are there any frequent glitches or errors)
🔺Money worth (is it worth the $20 USD spent on it)
🔺Final conclusion
🔺TLDR
review under cut:
-Overview of Procreate Dreams-
The UI is similar to Procreate but not exactly the same
Tumblr media
once you click + to make a canvas you get this screen showing various presets of canvas sizes (if you press the … you can choose frame rate, a note to add is that you can’t choose the exact number, only from presets, and the lowest is 12 fps)
Tumblr media
this is the main workspace UI with the animation timeline down at bottom and drawing on top
Tumblr media
the drawing part works roughly the same as procreate (if you haven’t used procreate, well uh L i don’t have time to do an overview of that too) but some notable absences are no brush editing, no transform tool, no select tool, no flip canvas tool, and no liquify tool
the app is based primarily in gesture controls, so much so that there isn’t even an undo or redo button, to undo you have to click with 2 fingers and redo is click with 3 fingers
it also has 2 main forms of animation, one in which it favors
frame by frame, or as procreate dreams calls it “flipbook” and animation mainly by editing parts of existing art (such as tweening, blurring, warping, etc.)
this is what the flipbook looks like, you cannot x out of the flipbook without it going back to the split timeline/drawing screen (previous screenshot) you can move the flipbook around the screen but cannot enlarge or shrink it
Tumblr media
in the alternative animation style you can set key frames and click and hold to open easing options, the default is ease in & out
along with key frames for move and scale, there’s also distort, warp, opacity, gaussian blur, noise, sharpen, and HSB (adjustment of hue, value, and saturation)
Tumblr media
general notes:
procreate dreams has a “perform” button, which basically means that if you click it and press play, you can move a part of a drawing (or multiple parts if you select multiple or put them in a group on the timeline) and it will record how you move it and automatically add the keyframes which you can adjust afterward
you can adjust the canvas size by typing the exact pixel size, but unlike procreate it does not allow for as large of a size (it couldn’t reach 2000x2000)
-Bare minimum-
can you actually use it to animate??
i would say absolute bare minimum for frame by frame is have onion skins, able to choose fps, have it flip through the frames so it’s you know like an actual animation, have functioning, and preferably have layers
and bare minimum for the other style is have basic scaling options, have functioning export, and tweening with optional easing
procreate dreams passes bare minimum ✅ (wow what an accomplishment /s)
-Features-
it has the basic features such as onion skins, keyframes, etc.
it does allow for import of video, audio, photo, and text
the “perform” feature (explained in overview) is unique to procreate dreams from what i know
oddly enough the foreground and background feature that was in procreate animation was not added to procreate dreams
clipping mask, layer mask, and blending modes are there
BUT there is an extreme lacking of certain vital features
in frame by frame animation you can use many layers, but cannot re order them, and re ordering the actual frames is possible but rather difficult and i’m not actually sure how to do it intentionally and deleting frames is also a nuisance in the same way
you can also not re arrange the gallery images, i’m guessing this is because unlike procreate which stores art in the app, procreate dreams stores it in the files
there is no select tool and transform can only be done in the timeline which is just inconvenient, but to do any rotation you have to manually type a number of degrees it should rotate, you CANNOT rotate it normally
there is no physical undo/redo button, only the gesture for it, there is no brush editing, there is no physical import button for brushes (you can still import brushes but it is less convenient)
original procreate had a feature to hold down the pen after drawing a shape, and it would automatically make the shape but perfect and you could adjust points of it, procreate dreams does not have this
(there are of course more features but these are the major things i thought should be mentioned)
in features, procreate dreams is lacking, it has many good features but really important ones are missing ❌
-User-Friendliness-
i am a bit biased in this category because the UI and way it functions is many times very similar to procreate which i have been using for 4 years so take what i say here with a grain of salt
most everything in the app i figured out on my own without tutorials, and i did it rather quickly
i find it to be very easy to understand even for someone who has never seen the app ✅
-Functionality-
most of the features do function, but there are a few issues i should mention
occasionally on the gallery screen it just froze, but closing and opening the app again fixed it, and that didnt happen much
the brushes also look a bit more pixelated and not as smooth as procreate’s(??)
the import video and audio feature issues however, did happen much
i don’t know if this would be an issue for a newer ipad but any time i tried importing a video (even as short as 2 seconds) it said “this video exceeds your device’s capabilities” or if i tried importing too long a video it just crashed
purely audio files are a similar issue, except it COULD import a 2 second audio, but crashed at a 30 second one
in its current state, functionality is mostly passing, but audio is oftentimes such an important part of animation that i cannot truthfully give this a pass, but i won’t give it a fail either ❓
-Money worth-
in terms of money,
No.
$20 is an outrageous amount for an app that fails to import longer than a 2 second audio, having no select tool, an annoying transform tool, and many other missing features that even FLIPACLIP can do without even paying ❌
-Final conclusion-
i have full faith in the procreate team, i truly believe they can make this an absolutely amazing app, but right now, i would highly advise against buying it
i was really excited for it because i’ve been a loyal procreate fan for 4 years and go on about how amazing procreate is, but this is just disappointing
i will update you all on if it receives any major updates that fixes or adds features, until then, my conclusion is that procreate dreams is not currently worth your money ❌
-TLDR-
Procreate Dreams is missing a lot of really important features like a select tool, rotation, and the transform tool which it has but is inconvenient to use, and the audio import barely even works
i have full hope that the procreate dreams devs can and will fix it and make it a great app, but as it is now, you’d have better luck using flipaclip for free
it is actually painful for me to say that you shouldn’t get procreate dreams cause i love procreate so much, but i know that this is just BAD
go buy procreate instead, i have literally no complaints about that one it’s the best and i love it
also i’ve got art going up tomorrow!! so you get that at least
-updates-
-clipping mask added
-custom frame rates added
-drag and drop layer organization added

I totally only read the tags after I sent the ask yesterday and I didn't want to send two in one day, so good morning 😊
Can I ask for Shadowgast for #27: "C'mere, I don't mind letting you sleep on me", pretty please? 🥺🥺
27. "C'mere, I don't mind letting you sleep on me."
There are many reasons why Caleb was so hesitant to take on a position at the Solstryce Academy, but one he had not considered before starting was the time it would demand from him. So much of his spare hours are now spent grading papers and reviewing his students' research proposals, and it leaves him little room for his own intellectual pursuits. Helping shape the minds of the next generation of arcanists is no small thing, to be sure, but still, reading another ten page treatise on the various practical uses of the Blink spell, none of which meet any kind of basic ethical standard, when he could be reading the notes on his latest chronurgical experiment that his Kryn friend left the last time he was here is so much to ask of a man.
It is especially cruel on the rare afternoons that said Kryn friend is actually able to stop by for a visit. Caleb is well aware that each one is a risk to Essek, that he puts his very life on the line in order to spend even a few hours with Caleb in Rexxentrum, and Caleb tries so very hard not to read anything into that. Instead, he compares arcane notes with him, their spellbooks passed back and forth like notes in a classroom, scribbles down Essek's suggestions for improvement on his Web of Fire in the margins as onion and garlic sizzle on the stove in preparation for the maultaschen he's making for their dinner.
Once they've eaten, though, he must focus once again on his professorial duties, and so Essek sprawls out on the couch in his room in the tower, flipping through the reading Caleb will be assigning in class next week, while Caleb is bent over a desk, exhaustedly underlining areas for improvement in each essay. He works until the candle drips low, until Essek murmurs, "Caleb Widogast, you need to rest."
There are four more papers left to grade. "I'm almost done, ja? And then we will discuss ways to increase the effective time of that Temporal Shunt spell."
"You are going to pass out on top of your work. You need not stay awake on my account."
Caleb frowns at him over his shoulder. "Quite the assumption, freund. I have so little time with you; how am I to get our important work done when you disappear in the morning like a ghost?"
"You are being dramatic." He extends a hand toward Caleb, the myriad of rings on his fingers glinting in the flickering fire lit by a spectral cat hours ago. "Come. I don't mind letting you sleep on me."
Oh, what unholy temptation. There are four more papers left to grade. From here, Caleb can smell the air in Eiselcross still on Essek's skin. "Just a cat nap, liebling," he murmurs, pushing back from the desk to stand.
"Of course." Essek's hand beckons him closer, a siren upon the rocks.
"I'm serious. Twenty minutes, then you wake me."
"It is a promise, Caleb Widogast." Essek presses himself into the back of the couch, allowing room for Caleb to slide beside him, to nestle his head atop Essek's arm.
"Twenty minutes." His eyes slide closed. It has been quite a long day.
"Twenty minutes." And Caleb knows, as he quickly slips under, that he will not wake again until morning.

I watched Junji Ito Maniac: Tales of the macabre and here's what I thought of each episode 2/3
Here's Part 2 to my review on Junji Ito's new netflix anime! As always Spoilers under the cut Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3 / Review
Tumblr media
Continuing on with what i thought of each episode...
Episode 5: Long Hair In the attic Cont. Long hair in the attic, I remember this story and it's always felt sorta...Sad to me? From the way the episode starts and we see them interact it's really depressing...She obviously cared about this man but he seems to toss her out like there's no issue at all. One thing I really noticed was how they draw blood in this one, It looks really nice. However I think Chiemi's head isn't as pretty when depicted in the anime as it was in the manga however the scraping sounds are definitely more cringe-worthy when you actually get to hear them. Episode 7: Tomb Town I believe this one is actually based on the new translation from VIZ Media, Which as of writing this isn't out yet. I haven't read an online scantlation of it but I was fairly excited to see what it was about going in! The story is actually really interesting to me? I thought it would be sort of boring but...It was really enthralling. The twist was wild to me! The use of 3D for the corpse was actually more interesting to me than the use of it for scenery like cars!
Episode 8: Layers of Fear; The Thing That Drifted Ashore A story I've not read. Surprised yet? I'm not. One thing I thought was neat was seeing the iconic layered image in the doctors office! I've seen images of this manga online. I think the concept of someone having skin line a tree or an onion is kinda cool! The image of the peel was sort of cool but at the same time the thought is painful. I remember i had skin on my foot one time that peeled up but it was so deep...It made me think of that time and it made me cringe. the image of her dragging the blade down her skin...This whole scene was vile and made my skin crawl and my stomach turn I think this was one of the best moments of the series so far. Again with the thing that drifted ashore i felt i had read this one before? However that may have just been the feeling of gyo. Another interesting thing is Tadashi is the name of the protagonist from gyo. Nothing else interested me much aside from the idea of human beings potentially being like parasites.
Episode 9: Tomie: Photo I was most ecstatic for this episode! Tomie is a special interest of mine. My wife loves Tsukiko's character so we were both highly critical coming into this episode. They were worried about Tsukiko's voice as they had seen Demon Slayer and heard her voice actress play Nezuko but we were both surprised by the deeper voice acting the actress did for the character as it was always the sort of manner we imagined the character would speak in. Another thing I'm happy about is how this series seems to be taking Tomie almost in order (Skipping the chapter Basement)! First Tomie, then Morita hospital and now we get chapter 4 Photograph! I can't help but hope for another part or even Tomie to get its own anime but for now I was thrilled with this chapter of Tomie's animated story given both My wife and I had qualms with Tsukiko's strange redesign? Her grown out buzz/pixie cut is swapped with a side swept one? As well as her eyebrows being much thicker than remembered initially... I was also mildly off put by how Tomie's voice changed between series? It's still Monica Rial but she's changed how she speaks for the character. It's deeper for some reason? Which while not a bad change still a strange one to me. One of the most disappointing changes in my wife's opinion was the lack of a willy wonka shirt. (RIP tsukiko's willy wonka t-shirt) I also kind of hated that they seemed to cut certain parts or lines? I know that they have to mind time but they miss the scuffle at the door when tsukiko goes to join her mother. They also miss getting to see tsukiko's mother's face as well as learning her father is in the military and at his post. Small details that feel..Like they just flesh out tomie's universe more. While the episode is very nearly shot for shot there's a lot that changed (To someone like me who is...a little obsessed <3) There's almost too many changes to over look.

🍔 Review № 598 ━ 📍 Sold Out Burger ★★★★★ • Sold Out Burger opened in Paris' 10:th arrondissement in 2020 with an interesting concept. They only have one beef burger on the menu, and prep all ingredients daily to keep profits up whilst selling out every day. The result is a simple and focused restaurant with almost no food waste. Their restaurant is small, and all burgers are prepared to go. A Cheese Burger with aged cheddar, red onions, pickles and secret sauce cost 9 EUR (9 USD), and we upgraded to double beef patties for 3 EUR (3 USD), bacon for 1 EUR (1 USD) and an order of french fries for 3 EUR (3 USD). • When our burgers arrived we immediately thought of Gasoline Grill in Denmark, as they were very similar to each other. The beef was smashed but still pretty thick, with a distinct crust, just enough salt and an even and juicy texture. The bun was soft and fresh, with a delicate buttery flavour, and we enjoyed the balanced acidity and savouriness from their house-made pickles. The secret sauce tasted like a classic burger sauce, without being too sweet. The thickly cut red onions added some crispy textures, and worked great with our double patty burger, and the bacon was excellent as well, and we definitely recommend that you add some. Their skin-on french fries had a distinct potato flavour, and were nicely cooked with a crispy texture. They were a bit under seasoned, but that was easily remedied. • The fact that Sold Out Burger only serve one kind of burger may sound boring, but this classic and uncomplicated creation was the best hamburger we've eaten in Paris so far. Just make sure you order a double cheeseburger with bacon, for the best possible experience. ━ @sold_out_burger_ #burger #burgers #burgertime #burgerporn #burgerdudes #burgerlovers #food #foodie #hamburger #hamburgare #paris #parisburgers #🍔 #🍟 #🇫🇷 (at Sold Out Burger) https://www.instagram.com/p/CkKohdED69b/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I think it’s worth reminding ourselves that the first thing that moved Shia wasn’t studying Padre Pio himself, who probably would have been absolutely incomprehensible as an inroads to faith for someone lacking any sense of it, it wasn’t the liturgy, it wasn’t any of the books that he would eventually become so versed in. it was people letting him eat their ice cream and pet their cats, people telling him jokes, people who weren’t demanding anything of him. and then, it was the Gospels.

oh my gosh you guys I think “screaming, crying, throwing up” has the same usage and meaning as “wailing and gnashing of teeth”

reblog this and tag with a food you no longer have access to (closed restaurant, state you moved away from, ex’s mom’s cooking, etc) that will haunt you until your dying day, mine are the spicy chicken sandwich on the employee menu at the fine dining restaurant I was a prep cook at, and the onion bagel from the kosher place down the street from my house when I lived in the city

wish list for people who don’t want anything
aka possessions which are just possessions, but which have noticeably improved my quality of life: for when people ask you “what do you want for your birthday/Christmas/graduation” and you instantly transform into St Francis and pledge fealty to Lady Poverty because your mind went blank
nice. new. sheets. I cannot emphasize this one enough. if you’re still using the same sheets you had in college, you should probably get new ones. get yourself some 100% bamboo rayon sheets—they're silky and perfect for summer and great for sensitive skin! or, if you’re cold all the time, flannel sheets!
kitchen knives. or even just one really good kitchen knife.
new curtains—blackout if you are a creature of the night like I am
fleece lined anything, but especially sweatpants and hoodies. wool lined socks are also good. if you don’t have the option of coming home after work and putting on an entire outfit that is loose and fuzzy, you should change that, because you deserve that option.
cookie sheets with a layer of air between the top and the bottom. the bottoms of your cookies will never burn again.
kitchen scale!!! no more leveling off flour with a knife and getting it all over the table!! now all your measuring is just shoveling stuff in and out of bowls like you’re at the beach. baking is both more accurate and also way more fun.
coffee bean grinder. if you want to upgrade your coffee experience, this is a great one-time purchase. just-ground beans have a much better flavor than pre-ground.
CDs!! ask for a gift card and expand your physical music collection! or a collection of the DVDs for your favorite show!
