Full Party Control is not a straight improvement :(
I am a bit sad but not wholly surprised to see P3R will have total party control.
Not to be pedantic or boomer about this, but I am not a fan of sanding away the quirks of older games like this. Not having party control is kind of annoying, I agree; even if you understand the tactics menu well, you have less precise control over what your party members do than in newer games, sure.
But it was an intentional choice by the original dev team. Adding it into a game that was not thought out for it fucks up balance really hard - see how much Portable gets meme'd on for the bad combat because they changed Down mechanics and party control, without putting in the immense work of making sure every single mini-boss still works in the new system.
This is maybe not so bad for the main game, but it's really, really shitty for the Answer, which was designed completely around the way Down worked in the original game. Part of why you'll never see it adapted is because it would represent a tremendous amount of effort to remake all its miniboss fights for modern mechanics.
And it is also a bit of storytelling in itself. The lack of party control is meant to reflect that your party members are more independant and less suboordinate to the MC than in say, P4.
Akihiko and Mitsuru have been doing this Dark Hour business for much longer than you have, they know what they are doing.
A large part of Junpei's arc is him being resentful of the MC for outshining him. A pretty damn important establishing moment for him is when he ignores orders on the first full moon operation. That Junpei is not waiting for you to tell him exactly what to do on each turn.
Shinjiro is gruff, unfriendly and more than a little stubborn. He already barely accepts his predicament; when he is in your party and you give him orders, he'll often respond with "Tch... Who does he think he is?".
SEES is not a friend group in the same way the Investigation Team is. They do end up becoming friends... but there is plenty of conflict within the group that justifies why they tend to act more independantly.
Those things are part of P3's identity, and I think removing them is a regrettable sanitasation of things that made the game really unique :(

On this round of P3R, we’re heading to the red-light district!
But first, I just want to say, Fuuka’s link requires MAX COURAGE to start? Omg. Now I’m assuming Mitsuru needs max academics. Good god. NG+ is absolutely gonna be needed for this.
So it’s now the third (technically fourth) full moon! And now that I’m thinking about the Magician and that whole mess, I think it’s a little funny that no one in SEES, in any of our downtime, has ever questioned, “Hey, what the fuck was that thing that ripped itself out of Orpheus and bodied the Magician in one shot? It might help with some of these slogging battles.” But no. It’s fine. We don’t need to know what that vastly powerful persona was. Whatever. Let’s rock.
Tumblr media
Shirakawa Boulevard, despite Ikutsuki’s attempts to talk around it, is where the love hotels are!
Tumblr media
I’m pressing X to doubt, sir!
So we’re off to the Champs de Fleurs hotel, and actually other than the weird curtained waiting area and sexy price list next to the front desk, it does look pretty normal? Like, it’s a hotel. It’s got hotel hallways and elevators and stuff.
Tumblr media
And then we get to the third floor and the equivalent to the presidential suite.
Tumblr media
This is labeled as the Hierophant’s Chamber, and… Lovers is supposed to be here? Did the P3 movies just straight-up skip the Hierophant Shadow and I never noticed? XDDD The Hierophant is very round and kind of looks like a really big guy with a lady with a head made of coral behind him.
Tumblr media
Hierophant wasn’t bad, actually, and we get to explore the room afterwards before heading back downstairs. The kids clown on a lot of the décor, but like, the silly round bed would be cool for the novelty, and who DOESN’T want a tub that big???
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But when we try to leave, we all get knocked out, and Minato wakes up in a different room, where Yukari is taking a shower.
Tumblr media
This sounds very like Orpheus, but it’s definitely not Orpheus, because Orpheus would know that Yukari is not our soulmate!
Yes I will continue being biased. XDDDDD
Tumblr media
If you say anything other than the correct answer, you get a “wait, that doesn’t seem right” thought bubble, and the dialogue just loops back to the start. You cannot fuck up the mission and game over on a night of brainwashed debauchery. XD
Minato comes to his senses, gets up from the bed, and Yukari comes out wrapped in a towel. She abruptly realizes where she is, screams, and slaps Minato before running back in the bathroom. And… Yukari? I was literally just standing here. Holy shit. Is this the pre-Kyoto warmup scene? God.
Tumblr media
NONE OF THIS WAS MY FAULT???
Fuuka gets through to us, and we go back up to the second floor to meet up with Junpei and Akihiko.
I can only assume Junpei and Akihiko were put in the same room.
Tumblr media
No one accused you of anything. Although now I’m giggling wondering what would have happened if I’d brought Mitsuru along instead.
We roam the hotel to find the mirrors we need to break to get back into the suite, and this is weirdly hilarious, all things considered.
Tumblr media
But eventually we find our way back into the boss arena, and the Lovers has the perfect design, honestly.
Tumblr media
GOD is it a bitch to fight, though. This fight took AGES because EVERY time it cast a spell with a charm effect, people got brainwashed. God forbid anyone other than Minato ever dodge an attack. Jesus fuck. I used every single one of my patra gems and dis-charms. Plus it cast diarama halfway through and of course when a boss does that it heals THOUSANDS of HP back to full health. Just give it salvation if you’re gonna do that.
As a brief side note, I love that when Minato casts the Jack Bros’ fusion spell, he just casually walks “offstage” afterwards and leaves them to it.
Tumblr media
But finally, we’re out of here.
Tumblr media
...Yukari volunteered so that I couldn’t take her out of the party and ruin my scripted undeserved slap. X’D
Tumblr media
Gee, Yukari, I wonder if it’s because no one ever has anything nice to say to him? He just gets treated like the comic relief.
Also, we’re being watched by these dudes.
Tumblr media
So when you say “we” do you mean you three, or like… humanity as a whole?
Back to the dorm to sleep this bullshit off, and then we move on with our week!
Tumblr media
...christ, dude, I just came to see how you were doing. Can I please have a dialogue option so we can talk about this??? No???? Okay… God, this is Mona all over again. My god damn Magicians are always having problems.
Tumblr media
...well, that’s nice. I wasn’t expecting that.
People at school are gossiping about how the school was rebuilt after an explosion ten years ago, and I’m getting texts from my attendant, who I apparently haven’t added to my phone? But at least she texts nicely.
Tumblr media
It’s pre-exam week, so all my social links are busy. Instead, my academics are lagging, so I’m studying with the members of SEES who aren’t cranky with me. That means Yukari and Fuuka, and Mitsuru and Akihiko. Akihiko recommends doing a quick workout after every few problems, because then, you’ll power through the next set in anticipation of getting to your next workout!
Tumblr media
Everyone I live with is insane. I love them. :’D
Ikutsuki calls a meeting to discuss something important, but before he can get to it, Yukari wants to speak. She’s had Fuuka looking into some stuff from the incident that happened ten years ago, and now she wants answers, because she thinks Mitsuru has been hiding things from us.
Other than the explosion, students were sent to the hospital, even though they were formally noted as just “absent”. It’s the same thing that happened to the girls bullying Fuuka; they fell unconscious and were unresponsive. Turns out, yeah, it was the same sort of thing. And it was Mitsuru’s grandfather, Koetsu Kirijo’s fault.
In greater Persona lore, knowing that he broke off from the Nanjo Group, he probably had access to tech that made his bullshit significantly easier to pull off. At the very least, we know he had the blueprints for a prototype anti-shadow suppression weapon, and the method to create artificial persona-users. But of course, he pushed too far.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Sorry that these subtitles are kind of blurry. Basically, they gathered up a shitload of shadows and then lost control of them, because of course they did.)
Tartarus and the Dark Hour exist because of all of this. The lab explosion happened because they lost control, and because the lab was around/under Gekkoukan, it ended with the school needing to be rebuilt as well.
Yukari is not pleased with this development. She feels like we’re just being used to clean up other people’s mess. But as Ikutsuki puts it, we’re the only ones who can fix things. Normal people can’t fight shadows.
He also says that no one knows why the Arcana Shadows suddenly reappeared after ten years, but… Well.
No one is okay after this.
Junpei is angry because he feels like nothing he does is good enough, and that all he’s really good at is fighting, which won’t be necessary anymore if the Dark Hour vanishes.
Akihiko goes to see Shinji, who he apparently grew up with in an orphanage with someone named Miki, to tell him that they know how to stop the shadows now. But Shinji still won’t come back to SEES.
Me and Minato aren’t okay because I’ve finally started this guy’s social link, and he’s a dick.
Tumblr media
Yukari’s dad was the lead researcher on the shadow stuff that led to the explosion, so I assume that he’s the one who got blamed for everything. Ikutsuki mentioned that the media picked one dude and demonized him.
Tumblr media
I think this date is wrong, though. If it was ten years ago, that’d be 1999. Right? :/ It’s also just funnier if the lab exploded like 3 weeks after the Sumaru crisis ended.
But I saved the cat! So everything is not a complete wreck.
Tumblr media
Pharos comes back to see me and implies some sketchy shit about my parents.
Tumblr media
My parents (and my sister, shush, I’m pretending it’s canon) did not explode, though. So this isn’t their fault.
Tumblr media
We’re absolutely friends.
After affirming that at least one person will stick by me to the end, even if that one person is a strange child who keeps waking me up at midnight, I come home from school the next day to find everyone sitting around experiencing the most awkward silence ever conceived.
Tumblr media
Akihiko, no!
Thankfully, we manage to talk through what’s bothering the group as a whole (Junpei is still mad at me, I think), and Ikutsuki shows up to suggest that after exams, we all go on vacation to Mitsuru’s family’s summer home on the island of Yakushima. Her dad is going to be there, apparently!
Mitsuru reluctantly agrees, Yukari apologizes to her for being too gung-ho and accusatory the other night, and I think we’re all chill again. Which is good.
Tumblr media
…….it’s my last night before exams and my option for study-buddy is Ikutsuki???
Nah. I’m out.

Will Power shouldn't have been Akechi's final theme(+ how Maruki did it better)
Persona 5 was my first smt game, but even in my first playthrough it bothered me. While I do think that Persona 5 has a problem with reusing tracks (I'm looking at you, Rivers in the Desert), when comparing it to the other games + animes, Goro's fight theme being Will Power becomes unacceptable.
Underneath the cut I will compare the secondary/social link boss themes from Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 5
Spoilers for all three games/animes/movies under the cut
Persona 3:
so in persona 3, I would say that the closest thing to a party member boss fight would be the meeting and little tiff that happens with Ryoji on the bridge with Aigis.
So, in the game this is an animated cutscene and the song that plays is a slightly~ different version of Unavoidable Battle. (Don't get me started on Unavoidable Battle being used for the ??? fight lol)
Persona 3, especially during The Answer has a real problem with beating Unavoidable Battle into the ground until it's deader than dead. But... I feel that they rectify this in the movies with Light In Starless Sky
This is one of my favorite tracks from the Persona 3 Lineup (P3, P3FES, P3P, and the P3 movies) Even though Ryoji doesn't technically have his own boss battle, I felt like he was deserving of his own theme for such a big moment and such a "betrayal" from a character that you grow to love and care about. In theory anyway, I don't very much like Ryoji.
Persona 4:
So obviously in Persona 4 the secret twist villain or whatever you'd like to call him is Adachi. I was one of the many people unfortunate enough to get into the game with this twist already spoiled. That being said, with the expectation that Adachi would be a final boss sort of deal (even if he is third to last), it was really disappointing to me that he and Namatame share the same boss theme. I understand that we are supposed to believe that Namatame is the killer (even though he really obviously isn't IMO), but to hear the same theme twice made it extremely underwhelming to me. Also Adachi was not a hard fight lol
Luckily, this gripe that I have with the game can easily be fixed with this mod, which adds Yin Yang from the Persona 4 Golden anime to the game in the place of New World Fool during Adachi's boss battle. This was perfect to me because honestly this is such a jaw-dropping song to me. It perfectly explains the type of dynamic that Yu and Adachi have with one another. love love love love Yin Yang, and even though Persona 4 is my least favorite game from the series and Adachi is then by default my least favorite villain, I think this track being in the game and just existing in general really helps with the music aspect of the game.
I fucking love The Almighty and The Fog though, even if I did feel that the amount of fakeout-twist villains was a little bit annoying. (Do not get my started on I'll Face My True Self -Marie version)
Persona 5:
So, as I mentioned at the beginning of the post, I feel like Persona 5 has a real problem with reusing tracks. Persona 5 was my introduction to the series, and when I said that it made me so excited that I felt my heart beating out of my chest and I was sick to my stomach (in a good way), I mean it.
In Persona 3, I feel like Master of Tartarus and Master of Shadows were fitting themes for the type of battles that we were having. The Full Moon shadows were just that. Shadows. They didn't really have any discernible personalities and they were just Shadows that needed to be killed for the sake of being shadows. I sort of wished that Strega had their own theme, but again whatever.
In Persona 4, even though we were fighting all sorts of different versions of different people, at the end of the day they all were facing their true selves, their shadow selves, so it makes sense for them to use the same battle theme when they are doing the same thing.
My issue with Akechi's theme being Will Power is that yeah, sure, his boss fight is technically an awakening, it's just been overused and beaten into the ground.
Now, I will say that it is better than his theme being Blooming Villain, the theme that EVERY SINGLE palace ruler uses, but it is still way too overplayed.
Like I said, P5 and ESPECIALLY P5R have some amazing tracks, but after the 4th time in a row hearing Rivers In The Desert, it starts to lose its spark.
In a stark contrast to the way that Akechi's battle solidified that they beat Will Power until it was dead, I'd like to take a moment to talk about Takuto Maruki, one of my favorite characters of all time.
I love Akechi as much as your average Persona 5 fan, but when it comes to how the music of the story drives home the point of their character, Akechi has nothing on Maruki.
I remember shaking in excitement when I first went on Spotify to look at the names of the songs from Maruki's palace and see what they were called (I am very particular about my music when it comes to persona games, my friends will let you know that I do not play when it comes to music spoilers).
The titles alone bring so much light into what Maruki was trying to accomplish. Gentle Madman, for example, is probably the most obvious one. It's who Maruki is. He's kind, sweet, he wants what's best for everyone, and yet he's on a complete wrong path. Something about the light piano mixed with the dark (???????????) sounding instrument really adds to it. It sounds clinical in a weird way, honestly, and it totally matches the aesthetic of the palace.
Out Of Kindness is one of the ones that makes me the most excited because it's such an awesome double entendre. He is doing it out of kindness, yet at the same time he has no kindness left to give! Beautifully, beautifully written! My God!!!!!!!
anyways, Keep Your Faith and Throw Your Mask Away. Need I say more? If you've played it then you know.
Of course I'm not saying that I expected Akechi to have an entire 5 hour long palace and half a soundtrack dedicated entirely to him. At the end of the day he isn't a final boss, he isn't the secondary boss, and he isn't the tertiary boss(at least in Royal anyway). Which I find to be... Disappointing. I mean he literally tries to kill the player character and thinks he succeeds! I know that Shido is the big bad, but I feel like Akechi deserved a bit more than what he got.
My idea would be perhaps Akechi got his own theme that he shared with the Holy Grail? I absolutely hated the fact that Shido and the Grail shared the same thing. It was so beautiful and amazing when we fought Shido and it transitioned between Rivers In The Desert instrumental and the vocal track. Almost threw up, so awesome.
They were kinda beating it already when it came to the Grail. I understand why, but to overuse such an awesome track really ruins it for me. and then when you fight the twins too? Jeez, give me a break.
Jaldaboath was an ok track, I'll probably talk about it in another post.
ANYWAY, my point is that I feel like Akechi deserved a better, more tailored theme, and it disappoints me that even in the anime he doesn't get it. The anime is even worse because he only gets Awakening? How annoying is that? There is a fanmade Akechi Palace theme, but that is a palace theme and not a boss battle. I guess we can only dream.

Ok I’ve had like 24 hours to digest the ending of P3 so I’m here to dump my thoughts. Full disclosure this is going to have a ton of spoilers for Persona 3 Reload!!
The party members were good, I didn’t like them as much as 5 but I do prefer them over 4.
I was kind of annoyed to learn that Chidori could be saved, because the whole thing is easy to miss. I also think the whole idea of her coming back alive and not remembering anything about the Dark Hour or her persona is kind of… lame. It’s just a very convenient way to wrap up her storyline. I did like Junpei’s growth, though, and she obviously contributes to that. Their personas merging when she dies is really… bittersweet.
Speaking of character deaths… Shinjiro??? Hello??? Absolute shock, I was not expecting to lose a party member. Can’t believe they got me to instantly ship Shinjiro and Akihiko just to have Shinji die in Aki’s arms.
And bringing up both Chidori and Shinjiro’s death, let’s talk about Strega. Jin is overall pretty plain, I don’t have much to say to him either way. Takaya, on the other hand, I have so much to say. Full disclosure, I started calling him “Jesus” as soon as I saw him, which I mean… makes sense with the theme of the game. He’s a good, creepy, culty villain and he does it well. My only issue with him (aside from like, obviously disliking him because he’s the villain and a murderer and stuff), is his design. I absolutely hate that he is always shirtless, it is super uncomfortable and weird (which is presumably the point, but still it gives me the ick).
I enjoyed most of the social links, overall. I didn’t really like Kenji and his whole dating a teacher thing, but his link did get better once he was dumped.
I was also kind of irked by Nozomi because his character and the writing is… pretty fat-shamey, but my main problem was the way his storyline feels incomplete. We learn he was in a cult but don’t ever really learn directly what they were about.
I maxed out all but two social links. Chihiro was left at rank 9 and Kazushi at rank 6. I consider that a pretty solid attempt at maxing for a first run.
I knew this going in (one of the few things I knew about the game before playing) that the male party members did not have social links. It’s still a bummer though, because I would have liked to spend more time with them and see them developed outside of the main plot.
And speaking of main plot. I did actually like the pseudo-science involved in the Dark Hour’s creation, I thought it was kind of neat to have a sort-of explanation for how the world with shadows came about (at least for this game).
The way I lost my mind when it was revealed that Ryoji was death… damn. It was a little predictable, because something was obviously weird with him but I was not expecting it to be that weird!
The whole end of the world final showdown is pretty standard JRPG stuff, so I don’t really have much to say on that plot point, but I have to admit I don’t really like the ending.
Don’t get me wrong, I think the idea of the protagonist sacrificing themselves is fine, even if it’s emotionally charged, I respect that as an ending. I’m more irked by the idea that the protagonist basically fought to survive a few months in order to fulfill his promise to meet the team on the school roof, just to die right before they all arrive (excluding Aigis). It feels like the ending doesn’t really give closure, to see SEES happy together after their success or alternatively have them grapple with the loss of their leader and friend.
Overall, I thought the gameplay was fun. Theurgy adds an extra little boost to your character’s strengths which was nice and helpful in speeding up some of the full moon boss battles (and cheesing the Reaper). People (and cats) getting lost in Tartarus adds an extra reason to explore Tartarus along with Elizabeth’s requests, making extra trips to Tartarus worth doing.
The music is fantastic, of course. Bangers all around, and I don’t think this needs any additional explanation.
So here’s my final thoughts/stats for the time being—I’ll be back to 100% it soon:
Persona 3 Reload
Achievement Progress: 85%
Play Time: 85:15
Rating: 8/10
Favorite Song(s): Master of Shadow, Mass Destruction, Burn My Dread - Last Battle
Favorite Character(s): Yuko, Ryoji, Mitsuru, Shinjiro, Koromaru

Hewwo! I thought of a few things that weren't in your P5R review and I was curious about your take:
- Considering how much you disliked the P4G one and how much P3's objectively slaps, P5R's OST is ???
- How did you feel about having authored dungeons vs the random generation of previous games/Mementos?
Music
P5R was inoffensive. The only music that made me stop and go "oh wow" was the first time I heard the Heist Theme on my first Get The Treasure day, that was pretty cool. And I think the general wandering around town theme is very listenable for the hours on end that you're gonna be hearing it.
But nothing, like.... stopped me in my tracks like P3P's OST did. None of P5R's battle themes compete with either "Wiping All Out" OR "Mass Destruction", but they weren't offensively bad like P4G's. And gun to my head, I could not remember any of the boss themes or if they were even different.
P3P still blows everyone out of the water on music. Best overworld theme with the January overworld song, best battle theme with "Wiping All Out," and the final boss theme probably will never be beaten, they should just do remixes and reprisals of it.
Dungeons
The dungeon thing is difficult. This to me comes back to my structural gripes with P4 and P5.
Like, logically, yes, the authored dungeons are just better than the random gen. They are.
But I still never enjoyed doing them, and weirdly I feel like Persona is straying further and further away from the exploration/combat of their games being enjoyable. I'm not even sure why, and it's probably just me, but...
Tartarus was always kind of fun for me, it was mindless and quick and had the best Reaper of all the games. And when I got tired of doing it, I could just get to the next floor and stop.
For P5R, these big authored dungeons are... not fun to me personally. Every time I unlock one, I'm like "SIGH, okay, time to pause what I'm doing for X hours to do this Palace before I can optimally get back to everything else."
I think I just like how P3P does it better. I do not at all even remotely like this thing where you have a month to save the person from the TV or to get the Treasure, and then you do it and the game twiddles its fuckign thumbs for OVER TWENTY FUCKING DAYS before the plot advances, and your team every fucking day is like "gosh i guess all we can do is wait now" (in P5R, not P4G) (or at least worse in P5R due to the fucking smart phone alkdjflskafd).
In P3P, you should be working in Tartarus to get higher and to level up and make progress... but the full moon day is the fucking full moon day and on that day, you are GOING to do a mission and sink or swim. It makes P3P feel like there's a lot less time sitting around on your ass.
I don't know the solution, but I do know that I worked hard to make some overpowered fucking monstrous Personas (playing SMT-style) to blast through the Palaces as fast as I fucking could because the sooner, the better. Which is probably not a great sign. SHRUG
I'd take Tartarus over any Palace any day of the week.

It’s funny too because they actually made it so you could do more at night/Morgana would tell you to sleep less in Royal but let’s be real teens never sleep so it would have just been more accurate to let the main character do whatever and suffer the consequences later with exhaustion or sickness similar to what they did in P3 (can’t exactly remember how that mechanic worked but I think it’s something along those lines)
I can't speak to vanilla P3 or P3 FES because it's been way too long since I played FES (and I never played vanilla P3). But in P3P, the exhaustion mechanic worked as thus: after spending too long in Tartarus or after big plot events (such as the full moon boss fights), your character would become tired. To cure this, you could either go to sleep early the next night, or pay 3,000 yen to drink that herbal tea at the shop in the mall. If you did neither of those things, and either stayed up all night boosting social stats or went to Tartarus, your character would become sick. However, if you went to sleep early the next night or drank the tea, your character would recover.
So yeah, I think bringing a mechanic like that back would be fine! But that mechanic wasn't in P4 either, and on days you went into the TV you couldn't do things at night in P4 either, so like, I kind of get it. It's just funny though because it's like, can't I at least read a book? Can't I at least do homework? Nope! Morgana says you sleep, therefore, you sleep. Ren's letting himself be bossed around by a cat. It's hilarious.

The reason I'm partially fine with NSFW is because I try and normalize stuff of sexual nature, seeing as it's normal. Just don't make any weird comments about me or other people, or my hyperfiaxtion.
• I'll probably do a lot of different writting things, headcanons and random thoughts I have.
• I use he/him pronouns, and am queer <3 and vv single lmfao

Not a fan of the way p3 handles the romance social links
I wanna max them all so I can see where their stories go but there's no non romance routes for them and I never like the whole harem thing
Other than that the game is still keeping my interest. I've just done the totally for real final full moon boss and nothing else is going to go wrong at all part of the game and just about get to the school trip bit.
I've known about a thing that happens at the end of the game for years now but didn't know why or how it happens. Now that I'm at this point I think I see where it's heading to get to that point.

Hey dragon how it doing your gameplay Im hope you are having a good time playing p3 so are you close to reach the full moon ?
Yep, it's really fun x3 Although, all I've been doing is grinding in Tartarus, but I have like, four days until the next boss

omg during the last full moon cycle i ALMOST didn't finish clearing the levels of tatarus i was supposed to because of exams and all (i finished the final boss w/ like 4 days before the full moon remaining) and i think that made me unintentionally rush during this phase... i just cleared the final boss with 18 days remaining 😭

Is there a God Boss™ at the end of p4 other than the gas station attendant (which I think is optional?) or is the game basically done after Adachi
#alex.txt#I'm not sure#and I used like almost all my sp items on namatame#I remember being desperare to get through the one phase where he just kept spamming that one op move#and I was so close to dying#I think it wad like my third or fourth attempt and I really just wanted to end it#but I forgot there were more bosses in the game#imo I kinda hate that no game in the series other than p5 has sp regen accessories#or have easier methods of gathering sp restore items#you just have to get lucky#I hope I'm not screwed for adachi's fight now#I was also just wondering this bc I hate the whole god boss thing#I know that's just standard rpg but I really don't think it suits persona#I like the idea of having a really strong optional boss#like the velvet attendents#I really like that#but God Boss™ at the end of the game is just bad#especially after the group takes out their main villain#the only game out of the main three (bc I don't know plot of the first two) that can do this and it be good is p3#bc Nyx gets built up the full moon shadow boss thing is introduced and those bosses have to do with Nyx directly#and aren't people like in the other two#in the other two God Boss™ gets no build up it's just kinda shoved in with shoddy 'plot' and reasoning#you could argue that p4 builds it up I guess since you first talk to God Boss™ at the very beginning of the game#but you don't know they're God Boss™ until the end#so in comparison to p3 it's not good#p3 had the best story of the main three you can't change my mind#the other two still have great stories but p3's is absolutely the best

is it like ...  abnormal to have a lot of problems with tartarus because honestly most of my p3 experience has been grinding,  getting frustrated,  and having my enthusiasm for the game senselessly murdered by bs enemies using mamudo or spotting me around a corner when they shouldn’t have or getting a teammate into a fight alone
