Spring Flowers, Tucson, Part 45: Foothill Palo Verde (Parkinsonia microphylla)
Spring Flowers, Tucson, Part 45: Foothill Palo Verde (Parkinsonia microphylla): These popcorn-lookin trees are incredible on their own; but together mixed in with other Palo Verde varieties, the sight is breathtaking!

Desert witchcraft - trees
Arizona has a lot of brown. It's not known for greenery. Even green plants end up brown it seems (like the grass, it's not dead just brown now) but as spring begins to blossom here I was looking around and I noticed a lot of yellow! A majority of our plants blossom yellow flowers.
Anyways post two is about trees! There are tons of species of trees in Arizona, both native and introduced, but I am only going to cover a few that are easily accessible and identifiable.
This blog gives some desert witchcraft love!

The Palo Verde tree(both Parkinsonia florida or blue palo verde and Parkinsonia microphylla or yellow palo verde) is our state tree. In high school we hosted an exchange student from Japan that said that the Palo Verde tree looked like the Arizona version of the cherry blossom! Collect the flowers in spring for love spells, or the dries seeds in summer for growth. The tree it's self is green all year round and can be used in abundance spells!
🌳 love, growth, life, abundance

There are 40 varieties of the genus prosopis leguminous commonly known as Misquite. It blooms from spring until summer creating fluffy flowers and pods that look like green beans. Used with healing and creativity spells. Pods and flowers can be used with growth, prosperity, or love spells. By the end of summer the ground near a misquite tree is littered with the now brown pods, these can be used in curses or hexes.
🌴 healing, creativity, growth, prosperity, love

Willow Acacia, Acacia Salicina, is an Australian native tree that thrives in the Sonora desert. It grows very quickly, up to 25 cm a year, and is not actually part of the willow genus. It is called willow for its weeping appearance. There was one in my friends backyard growing up, it was huge and beautiful, but one monsoon season it's roots were damaged and had to be taken down for fear of crushing the small house (this thing had to have been 100 feet tall, it was triple the size of the house we even built a tree house in it!) Due to its quick growth it is ideal in growth spells. It works well in place of spells needing Willow or Acacia.
🌳 growth, protection, healing
👐 please if you use parts of a live tree, be kind and try to take parts about fall off. You can kill trees, any plant really, if you take too much from it. Respect nature and it will be kind to you 👐

Parkinsonia microphylla / Foothill Palo Verde Desert Botanical Garden, Phoenix I have seen a few other specimens of palo verde trees elsewhere, but they were especially beautiful around Phoenix. Native to the Mojave and Sonoran Deserts of California and Arizona, all palo verde trees feature an important adaptation: their bark is green due to the presence of chlorophyll, which allows them to photosynthesize even if they drop their leaves
