What Pokemon (one fave companion or a dream lineup of 6 your choice) would each of your OCs choose? Do they have a type they like best?

Oooh thank you so much! I think I'll stick with one main companion since I definitely do not have the brainpower to come up with full teams for each of them

Rae: If her story took place in modern times, she'd definitely be the type to bring her DS with her on every trip in the hopes of catching a Farfetch'd somewhere

Robin: Is the music play cheap? Maybe. But all I can see is Loudred for her, I think she'd find it fun to see a Pokemon with similar sonic attacks as herself

Madison: I could see her being a big fan of Greninja, for sure!

Ophelia: She's going classic, gen one. She played Pokemon as a kid, so the first games are especially close to her heart. Onix or Machamp

Jasper: I think they'd pick their favorite off of something completely arbitrary, entirely unrelated to how good the Pokemon actually is in battle. I could see them getting really attached to Pidove or Spoink

Kestrel: Their only exposure to video games would be through Seth (but he's always got the new Pokemon games when they come out), so they'd also end up picking something entirely based on aesthetics. I could see them catching a Fletchling as their first non-starter Pokemon, naming it Kestrel after themself, and getting unreasonably attached to it

Katherine: I can really see her being an Espeon fan!

Quinn: I feel like Quinn's also a big Pokemon player, and spend a lot of time with the games while she was in the hospital. I think she's the type to always pick the fire-type starter, and her favorites would be Quilava or Blaziken

Eris: Let's be real, they're not thinking about deep game strategy, and they probably only focus on moves that do damage instead of stat buffs/debuffs. He's gonna gravitate to the most tank-like Pokemon she can find: Walrein.

Nikoletta: I could see her being a fan of Houndoom, because the design is really cool and would remind her a bit of all her "voodoo" history, but I could also see her having a soft spot for Azumarill... y'all know why

The origin of Wren is that is the name I have chosen for myself in video games! Ever since I played pokemon crystal in middle school! On playr.org lol

And I chose Wren because ok long story incoming!

My great great grandparents wanted a son to name Ray. But they got a daughter instead. So they named her Raenata so that they could still call her Rae. Renata is the actual spelling. (The boys mother in ratatouille is named Renata!)

My mom "mispelled" my middle name as Renata, even though it was supposed to be Raenata. But it's actually spelled right XD

So I've always loved my middle name. So I started naming Kris in pokemon crystal Ren. But that didn't look right. It was around this time I started getting really interested in birds, and thought Wren seemed way cooler! Also I love nature based names. Ever since I like to name my characters Wren.

So Wrenata was taken as a username, but that's OK cause I can still use Wraenata! But I like to be called Wren as well <3

Also it doesn't bother me if people misspell wraenata at all. My first name is misspelled all the time, I am very used to it XD

Today I have to go to a family wedding with my parents. It's far away this is like an 8 hour ordeal at least oof. So it's going to be socially exhausting. I'll probably fall a bit behind on reblogs but I'll catch up on Monday. Thank you for the well wishes! I'll remember them when I'm feeling not so great at the wedding!

Album Review - 'Beatopia' - Beabadoobee

Matty Healy just can’t help himself. 

After getting his greasy fingerprints all over her 2021 EP, Our Extended Play, The 1975 frontman manages to creep beneath the surface of Beabadoobee’s latest album, Beatopia.  

Sure, Healy only co-wrote two of the album’s tracks, but the production has that 1975 DNA running through it. 

You can hear it in the scratchy synthesisers and punchy beats of ‘10:36,’ and in the twilit shoegaze of ‘See You Soon.’ The sprawling Midwest emo of ‘Pictures of You’ features such Healyesque lines as ‘She reminded me that God starts with a capital/But I don't think I could do it all’ and even contributes backing vocals, while on the twee, jazz-inflected final track, ‘You’re Here, That’s the Thing,’ he sings   with the British-Filipino singer: ‘When the lights go down, don't say I didn't warn ya/I don't think that's legal in the state of California.’ 

‘I wrote the verses, and he showed me his chorus idea,’ Bea Kristi explains (via Genius). ‘I was like, ‘What do you mean by it?’ He said, ‘You know what? I don’t know, but it’s really fun.’ It was like, ‘Okay, go with it. It doesn’t really matter what’s illegal in California. It could be anything.’ 

If there’s a word to describe this record, it’s twee. Charmingly so at times, but painfully so at others. The longer it goes on, the more it begins to drag. 

While her 2020 debut, Fake It Flowers, threw itself headlong into scuzzy 90s nostalgia, the world of Beatopia is soundtracked by the light and breezy acoustic pop of the late 90s/early 00s. 

‘Sunny Day’ has a slick, warm groove, taking its inspiration from the mellow stylings of Nelly Furtado and Corinne Bailey Rae. ‘The Perfect Pair’ is what would probably happen if Michelle Branch did a soulful, teasing Bossa Nova track, which is exactly as enticing as it sounds. ‘Broken CD’ also adds a dash of Branch, along with a little M2M. Y’know, from the Pokemon movie soundtrack? ‘Mirror Mirror’ is still a fuckin’ jam, btw. With its soft, willowy dance between guitar and strings, ‘Ripples’ is practically a Disney ballad. 

‘Lovesong’ is equally saccharine, all twinkling pirouettes and orchestral swells, while ‘Fairy Song,’ of course, lives up to its title, its dreamy, sun-kissed twang caught adrift in a hazy sea of reverb. ‘Tinkerbell is Overrated,’ (featuring PinkPantheress) is magical for the first minute or so before the drum n’ bass kicks in, turning the track into some TikTok-ready soundbite. Only ‘Don’t Get the Deal’ (featuring Bea’s guitarist, Jacob Bogden) and first single ‘Talk’ seem to call back to the sludgy grunge of Fake It Flowers. 

Beatopia finds Bea still trying to make sense of who she is as an artist, which is to be expected from a 22 year old woman who was catapulted to fame just a few years ago off the back of a viral TikTok hit. It has a sweet childlike innocence and wonder, its rootsy, more orchestral touches sublime and the youthful angst a little more introspective this time around. 

But in the process, the singer ends up stripping away the scrappy, anxious charm that made Fake It Flowers such a joy to listen to in the first place. The songs are pretty enough (‘The Perfect Pair,’ ‘Sunny Day’ and ‘Talk’ especially), but also rather forgettable, lacking the immediacy and grit of earlier singles like ‘Worth It’ or ‘Care.’ It’s also kind of ironic that Beatopia is meant to describe Bea’s world, yet longtime collaborators like Matty Healy manage to infiltrate it and turn it into yet about 1975 side project (Well, parts of it, at least). 

Beabadoobee might get lost in her own world on Beatopia, but there’s still time yet to find her way…

(Series: Fate/Strange Fake | Artist: Shizuki Morii)

The fall season is packed with interesting shows and I've ended up watching more series than I usually would. I'm behind on a few of them but I'm trying to let myself be okay with that. I haven't watched any new JJK episodes since the last update. I'll catch up to it eventually but I'm waiting until I hear that Nobara and Maki have had some quality screen time. I also have nothing new to say about Pokemon Horizons. It's still a delight that I look forward to watching every week. As for everything else...

After-school Hanako-kun (2 eps) - a gag spin-off of Toilet-bound Hanako-kun. I enjoyed the original Hanako a lot so I was looking forward to seeing the return of the characters but I haven't enjoyed this one much so far. I don't think I've laughed once so far which is not a good thing a series of shorts focused on comedy. At least the episodes are only 10 minutes long but I'm disappointed that this isn't better.

Dead Mont Death Play Part II (2 eps) - I enjoyed the first half of DMDP but I can't say the return of it has impressed me much yet. It's fine but I'm not really intrigued by any of the new plot points or characters and I'm struggling to remember what I enjoyed about the first half.

Frieren (7 eps) - really good and worth every bit of the hype. I love this exploration of the elf character and how an elf would view time and relationships differently to how humans view them. The fantasy world is so beautiful, the story is engaging, and I love the characters. Probably my favourite show of the season so far.

I'm in Love with the Villainess (4 eps) - I've read the first 4 volumes of the manga for this and the light novel has been of my wishlist for a long time so I was excited about it getting an anime adaptation and it's good so far. I mostly have the same thoughts on the anime as I do on the manga: the character drama is really engaging but the world building is meh. But the anime does bring something new the table with some amazing voice acting. Yuu Serizawa and Karin Nanami are perfectly cast for Rae and Claire, respectively, and make all their interactions even more fun to witness. Some gags that I didn't find funny at all in the manga made me laugh in the anime due to the impeccable comedic timing. The animation is a bit disappointing at times but it's such a fun ride that I can't be too mad.

Spy x Family 2nd season (3 eps) - Spy x Family is back and it's still really good. Like with the first season, I don't love all of the plotlines but the ones that are good are really good. This show is comforting and I'm glad it's back.

The Ancient Magus' Bride Season 2 Part II (4 eps) - while I thought the first part of this season set up a lot of good intrigue, it's in this second part that I'm starting to get really engaged in the character drama and story. I'm so invested in what's going to happen with Philomela and I'm excited every week for the new episodes. It also helps that the OP this time is incredible. In a season with a lot of strong openings, it may be my favourite.

ooh I'm gonna assume this means like OCxOC because otherwise I have way too many...for all OC's I do have my Rosalind Amell/Shay Surana ship from Dragon Age and they are wonderfully adorable and chaotic together!

Rae!! She was my first dnd OC and it was such a fun game and so fun (and chaotic) learning to play with everyone, and it was a nice little bright spot during quarantine when everything else kind of sucked!

Hmm not really? At least none that were wholly inspired by a song. But Nona was influenced a lot by Florence+The Machine, I would put her music on repeat every time I sat down to write her!

30. Which one of your OCs would most likely have a secret stuffed animal collection?

Rudi...she acts super tough but she also loves animals in all their forms, she takes very good care of her stuffed toy collection and eventually passes it down to Vela

All my rpg characters- Rae, Firbolg, Nona, Makali- have some great memories from all the fun game times! I love making OC's for these games and then getting to see them interact with and become friends with other people's OC's, it's so wholesome and great <3

asfjklgf ok I'm gonna talk about my newest OC because I know you're gonna appreciate her...

I have made it my mission to play through every path in Pathfinder WOTR, and my latest playthrough is with Cleo, the tiefling barbarian. She is pure chaotic essence, very brash, loves fighting, and has some issues keeping all of that rage contained- hence her finding herself on the Demon Mythic Path.

She also has huge issues with authority and yet is quickly falling in love with Queen Galfrey, so you know she's a mess. She's gonna go through a lot of Character Development (TM) and is probably going to end the game on the Legend Path if she manages to get her shit together!

ever had a poem or a song written about you? : Yes. I was very not for it growing up and it was very cringe-y. 

when was the last time you played air guitar?: HAHAHA-- I still do this at my age. I think I did it when vacuuming and I was listening to “Meant to Be Yours” from Heathers. Air guitar plus vacuuming is a weird thing to do, but it felt right. 

who is your celebrity crush?: I know I had strong celebrity crushes growing up and even a couple of years back, I don’t really have something that strong anymore. Will I watch something with my biases? Oh Lord, I will. I look to you Dev Patel and Gwendoline Christie.

what’s a sound you hate; sound you love?: Yelling. Yelling is something I hate 100% hearing and immediately keep to myself when it starts. Can’t even bring myself to do it w/o bursting into tears, I also don’t like the sounds of certain chains when they jingle. Can’t explain why but I shudder at it and go somewhere else. I really love the sound of moving water (slowly moving liquid in a water bottle, for example) and crinkling paper. You can imagine what I play in the background when I do things-

do you believe in ghosts?: Iffy on the concept of ghosts. I waver between believing and not given my past experiences. As weird as it sounds, there have been stuff in the past that proves otherwise. 

how about aliens?: Not quite. 

do you drive?: Yup.

if so, have you ever crashed?: Yes. I was sandwiched in a three-way accident. The car behind me hit me so hard on my way to college (as a freshman) that I hit the back of the car in front of me. This was on the way to class early in the morning. There was a test that day too. 

what was the last book you read?: Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao! It is a terrific read and I cannot encourage and promote their writing enough! You may know them from their YouTube channel. 

do you like the smell of gasoline?: *shifty eyes at Rae’s reply* So I’m the person who were looking for because I like the smell of gasoline. 

what was the last movie you saw?: I recall that I rewatched Encanto with friends, but that wasn’t the most recent movie I’ve seen. There was also me rewatching Kate on Netflix, which I really recommend!! That only tells me that the actual last movie wasn’t exactly the best then. 

what’s the worst injury you’ve ever had?: I’m not 100% big on sharing medical stuff on here but I had the busted ankle and messed up wrist. I had cracked opened my skull as a kid and needed stitches. But that wasn’t the worst I had. 

do you have any obsessions right now?: Gaming wise, my current focus is on Pokemon: Legends of Arceus and rekindling my love of Miitopia. Watching wise, I am starting Peaky Blinders and Hometown Cha-cha-cha (please guys watch this, I love it so much). I am also finishing Disenchantment. There are much more to the list, but I’m only thinking off the top of my head.  IRL wise? Finding a new job--.

Ray Stantz

Probably a weeb. Lat’s face it, he likes comics. I can only assume he would love anime too.

Is actually really good at illustration. It probably comes from engineering sketches and the like.

Has a waifu pillow. One he illustrated himself. Is perfectly fine with people knowing too, he feels no shame in it. Probably even offers to make some for the other guys. Has to convince Egon by saying it’s great for spinal alignment when sleeping.

PLUSHIES! EVERYWHERE!

Attends cons.  Has a secret collection of cosplay photos from them posing next to celebrities.

Probably binge watches shows due to his love of TV. Particularly enjoys period dramas when people aren’t looking. Cries. Eats ice cream under a duvet as he binges the episodes.

Way too sweet when it comes to love. Way too considerate to the point nothing probably happens, because he’s always asking if the other person is OK.

Collects Transformers and other old vintage toys. Likes to fix them up.

Serial womaniser to the point he probably has a lot of love children floating around and doesn’t even know it.

Collects nude pictures and tapes pics of the faces of women he likes to the bodies. He calls them his ‘secret love pictures’ if ever found out.

Actually has a genuine soft spot for Janine, but she intimidates him a bit, so never acts on it despite flirting occasionally.

Likes limelight, but hates the responsibility, so often gets overwhelmed.

With regards to love, he’s a free spirit. He’s confident and can back up his words, which can be infuriating at times, as the other individual would probably hate ever telling him so for fear of boosting his already massive ego.

Secretly likes soaps. Will punch you in the eye if you ever told anyone.

Egon Spengler

Struggles with social cues and relies on his team members to help him out with them.

Is not so much a-sexual, but more overly focused to the point that it takes over every single other thing in his life.

May be prone to flights of sudden heroism or whims based on adrenaline rushes. This may include amorous actions. He will regret it afterwards and feel extremely guilty.

Ray’s offer of a waifu pillow would scare him, but may be eventually convinced.

Absolutely loves culture. Art, theatre, museums. 

While not vain, he spends a long time on his hair. Sometimes more than Peter.

Reasonably built.

Wears a shower cap in the shower.

Usually dislikes junk food and will remind people of the dangers of consuming too much, but has a soft spot for ice-cream and hot dogs, despite knowing what goes into them.

Will babble when nervous.

Loves his family, but boy do they stress him out. Emotional and social awkwardness probably resulted from the treatment of his parents.

Winston Zeddemore

Probably ends up as a little league coach. Let’s face it, he’d be perfect.

Effortless ladies man. Treats them like respect. This earns some ire from Peter.

Collects baseball memorabilia. Even has signed hot dog boxes and soda cups.

Will try to go to every game he can, when not working.

Enjoys music. Though, his tastes are very different to everyone else's. Probably a secret metal fan.

Athletic build, but actually so. Not like Peter who is slightly squidgy by comparison. 

Enjoys comedies. Sometimes dirty comedy which he will laugh loudly over. Egon doesn’t really like that all too much.

Can drive like a beast! 

Collects murder mystery books and binges murder mystery shows on TV. Probably loves Unsolved Mysteries.

Secret online gamer. Particularly shooters and horror games.

Secretly an absolute softie when it comes to love. He wants to settle down.

Janine Melnitz

Has zero tolerance for sexism. She’s seen and heard it all and she sure as heck won’t allow it on her watch.

Wishes there was more oestrogen in the team.

Has great stamina, despite not looking as if she does. Can outrun a few of the main team and can lift some heavy stuff.

Has probably held some pretty rubbish jobs in the past. This one is a breeze in comparison.

Is actually a good cook. When she can be bothered. Her fridge in her apartment is probably full of take out boxes.

Loves going out on the town, especially if she gets to drag Egon with her. She sees them as a date, but he never does. She doesn’t care about that, she just enjoys her time with him.

Probably enjoys glam rock.

Has a jealous streak that she tries to keep in check. sometimes struggles to.

Feels a little left out when they guys go on assignments. But she doesn’t really gel well with the work they do. She wishes there was a nice middle ground she could help with.

Actually finds Ray’s waifu pillows quite cute.

Wishes people would at least STACK THE DISHWASHER PROPERLY!

Actually likes Slimer and hates how Peter treats him. Even if he can be a pain in the rear.

Rae Taylor (OC, as requested)

Her name gets amusingly confusing for the team. It makes for entertainment. They’ve taken to calling her Rae-Rae so they can distinguish between the two.

Works out a lot. Can be seen lifting weights on occasion. Buff, well formed muscle structure in her arms, back and legs. Can lift heavy objects. Sometimes lifts Peter and scares the patootie out of him. 

Absolutely not scientifically minded and worries she’s not cut out to be part of the team because of it. She’s just the muscle, as it were. Point at it and she’ll shoot it.

Not gifted at maths at all.

OK at cooking. Sometimes likes to help Ray out and fixes some of his mistakes while he’s not looking and giving him all the credit when people enjoy it.

Gets on OK with Peter, but she hates his flirting and will retort by means of lifting him by his collar, shoving him away onto his butt, or just leaving the room when he starts.

Will defend her team fiercely though.

Enjoys Slimer’s antics. Especially when it’s aimed at Peter. 

Once tried to create an ant farm in a plastic inflatable air bed to see if it would work. It didn’t. She still feels guilty about it.

Has to sleep in a silk hair cap or else her hair goes unimaginably frizzy. Peter tries to steal it on occasion for his hair earning him a sliming.

Child at heart. Enjoys playing around.

Loves ghosts and respects no matter how bad they can get, to the point of asking if it’s really necessary to bust them. Sometimes it can hinder the job. But her intent is genuine.

i didn’t watch the second jester lobby bc i only watch lobbies with toast in them (even aside from him being my fave i just really like how he manages the games to make sure everyone is having fun/getting content — like in terms of who i’m streaming my pecking order is actually rae > sykkuno > corpse > toast but the bread gotta BE there yknow) but i did see the clip of lud dissing pokemon and imposter sykkuno killing him instantly first round ‘on behalf of the pokemon fans’ sir you are SO valid and correct thank you for your service (also lud being so salty about it and immediately going to syk’s stream and typing stuff like “you and me are done professionally and romantically” into his chat lmaooo)

that pecking order is so WOKE like YEAH rae FIRST anyway ur absolutely right toast has leadership skills and dominant qualities that actually make the lobby more streamlined? like idk how to explain it but he’s the guy who sets rules and boundaries so everyone can have fun and get content and he’ll do stuff like ‘let X talk. let X talk’ when they’re being spoken over (it’s really good because some louder people speak over quieter people and often times the louder people are men n the quieter ones r women) or if someone is being killed first a lot he’ll warn everyone to let them live because that’s unfair like. he’s just such a GOOD leader who protect’s the interests of them all and that’s just really nice i like toast a lot

i get why u wouldn’t watch toast’s streams first too because he uploads on YouTube daily and his videos are always p long and eventually most things toast-related worth watching will be posted on his channel with animations and helpful subtitles during meetings :D I’ve almost caught up on all toast among us videos and i honestly never miss them (sometimes i do. zone out a teeny bit. or skip over OCCASIONALLY if he’s doing a lobby I’m not super interested in)

the Pokémon moment was actually SO funny because sykkuno killed ludwig seconds after he dissed Pokémon and he was like “that’s for all the Pokémon fans around the world!! >:(“ and then the game went on for pretty long but the SECOND it ended and ludwig could speak again he was like “SYKKUNO >:( we are done PROFESSIONALLY and ROMANTICALLY >:(“ (this is very funny given how immediately after the among us lobby ended they played valorant together)

and obviously the next round sykkuno’s like aw i’m sorry ludwig!! let me make it up to you :D i’ll vote for whoever you tell me to :D and ludwig’s facade weakens and hes like ‘sykkuno... w-we’re still done professionally and romantically please don’t...’ and sykkuno just pushes on like ‘well then i’m gonna vote for myself! and i’m gonna vote for myself every round until u tell me who to vote for!’ and ludwig’s just all 🥺🥺 no one can stay mad
