Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia Shinryu Quests with Sephiroth Part 45
The Shinryu fights (level 300; currently the hardest kind of fight in the Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia (DFFOO) mobile game) in this post feature Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII as part of the team lineup.
Tumblr media
Table of Contents

Shinryu Quests List
Fear for Home Shinryu quest
Fear for Home Shinryu quest with Reks
Conclusion
Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII
My Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII (#ad) is Level 90 and Crystal Level 90. His 15cp, 35cp, Ex, LD, and BT are fully MLB. His Ex is at Ex+ 3/3 or Purple. His Burst weapon has been upgraded to BT+ 3/3 or Green.
Tumblr media
Seph’s currently equipped with a Level 5 of 5 Greatsword Ultima Weapon. His High Armor’s been upgraded to Blue. His Summon Boards, Character Enhancement Boards, and Force Enhancements have been completed. He has his Bloom Stone.
Sephi has 3 Attack 108 with Max Brave 330 Artifacts and 3 Attack 108 with One-Winged Angel Boost★★ (Raises INT BRV, MAX BRV, ATK, DEF by 5% if HP is MAX at start of last wave) Artifacts.
Tumblr media
Sephiroth is equipped with the following real A Spheres:
Edgar Roni Figaro’s (from Final Fantasy VI) Debuff Power
Increases BRV damage dealt by 10% while an enemy is debuffed
Cloud Strife’s (from Final Fantasy VII) Critical Power
Raises BRV damage dealt with critical hits by 10%
Vayne Carudas Solidor’s (from Final Fantasy XII) Broken Power
When attacking target afflicted with Break: • Increases BRV damage dealt by 10%
Tumblr media
I talk more about this in other posts, but I’ve been using Sephiroth for Lufenia (level 200) and Lufenia+ (level 250) quests basically ever since I got his LD and BT even back when he wasn’t that good at all. I’d like to keep using him even for Shinryu quests.

I talk more about these fights in other posts.
Fear for Home Shinryu Quest
Also known as Fear for Home Pt. 14 SHINRYU. This fight has 1 wave with 2 enemies, the Death Arms. They have 180 million HP each. Their force gauge charges pretty fast.
The Death Arms are immune to turn deletes and delays, including from breaks. They will counter all elemental damage except for lightning and water. All of their attacks are guaranteed to hit.
Once the battle starts, the party’s INT BRV will be reduced by 500%, and this will last for the entire fight.
Once the force gauge of the enemies hits 100%, they will deal single target BRV + HP damage then go into 10 turns of force time with the following effects: the Death Arms will automatically heal 80% of any damage they receive.
To cancel the force time of the enemies, a char must deal lightning BRV damage and debuff the enemies, and this has to happen while your chars have at least 1 special buff.
Once the bosses drop down to 69%, 39%, and 29% HP, they will automatically deal single target BRV + HP damage. This attack won’t happen during a summon or a char’s BT phase but it will happen afterwards.
Until the Death Arms uses the aforementioned attack once they reach the 69%, 39%, and 29% HP percentage thresholds, it won’t be possible to lower their HP.
For this fight my team was Sephiroth, Paine from Final Fantasy X, and Aeris or Aerith Gainsborough from Final Fantasy VII with Ramuh as my summon.
Tumblr media
My Calls were Edgar Roni Figaro’s from Final Fantasy VI, Auron’s from Final Fantasy X, and Seymour Guado’s from Final Fantasy X. All the Calls I brought debuff the enemies.
My Aerith and Paine are as fully built as my Sephiroth except they also have their own fully MLB Force weapons so they also have all of their Force Boards unlocked and completed and they have access to their Force Echoes.
Paine is currently equipped with my Level 5 of 5 Greatsword Ultima Weapon. She’s a debuffer who can deal pretty good damage.
Aerith is a support slash healer slash buffer. She has instant turn rate moves that can speed up the charging of the force gauge. She can battery the party and keep them from being debuffed. She can also keep enemies from buffing themselves. And she can deal pretty good damage too.
As soon as Paine got a turn, had her use her Additional Ability and then her BT+ finisher. One of the effects of her BT+ is that it will deal HP poison damage to the enemies each turn. It will also inflict them with a debuff that keeps them from dealing HP damage. Paine’s BT+ will also give herself and her allies a buff. Once this buff is at 3 stacks, it will grant a free turn.
Anyway, because of the HP gates, decided to go into Aerith’s Burst+ phase soon after the fight started so she can deal a bit of damage, refresh her buffs, battery the party, and charge the force gauge a bit more.
Tumblr media
The force gauge of the enemies charges really fast though so they were soon able to go into their force time.
The enemies got to move regularly since it’s not possible to delay them but thanks to the debuff from Paine’s BT+, they weren’t able to deal any HP damage.
Ended up switching out Sephiroth for the friend support Reks from Final Fantasy XII that I borrowed.
Tumblr media
Reks is boosted for this fight. His FR can cancel the force time of the enemies. He enchants the party and imperils enemies with the lightning element. Before he moves, he does a pre-emptive attack. If his BT+ effect is currently active, then his pre-emptive attack move will be cast twice.
When I brought in Reks, used his BT+ finisher first since I was planning to use Paine’s FR. So after activating Paine’s FR, had Reks use one of his Force Echoes to cancel the force time of the enemies.
Had Aerith use both of her Force Echoes then just used either her LD ability or her Ex ability. Had Paine and Reks spam their abilities. Saved their Force Echoes for later when my HP damage bonus was higher.
By the time I only have 4 turns of force time left, the HP damage bonus was at 999%. The Death Arms were down to 28% and 32% HP. Still have 2 turns left with Reks before he has to leave.
I thought things were going really well. My chars were dealing great damage. My HP damage bonus was already at max and I still have 4 turns of force time left.
And since the enemies were already down to 28% and 32% HP, decided to summon Ramuh already. Ramuh’s on-entry attack took the Death Arms down to 23% and 28% HP.
Tumblr media
It was Reks’s turn. Had him use the last of his Force Echo. This was enough to finish the enemy with 23% HP but the other one was still at 28% HP.
At first, I was confused about that. What was going on? Had my other chars attack but they weren’t dealing damage to the last Death Arms either.
Tumblr media
Then I remembered that the HP of the enemies will be locked upon reaching certain thresholds until they use their single target attack.
In short, shouldn’t have summoned yet. Ugh. Was really annoyed that I forgot about this mechanic.
Then again, only briefly glanced at the battle info for this fight, and while I was fighting against the Death Arms, it didn’t feel like I was hitting any HP gates. That was likely just because the enemies normally got to move anyway so probably ended up mistaking their threshold attack for their normal ones.
Anyway, just restarted the fight. This time, also got to use Sephiroth’s BT+ finisher, Heaven’s Light. One of the effects of this BT+ is that it will set the BRV of all enemies to 1 for 4 turns, so it wasn’t that useful in this fight since the Death Arms can’t be delayed.
Tumblr media
Went into Aerith’s BT+ phase again. Used Paine’s BT+ finisher. Used my Calls and had my chars use their Additional Abilities. Made sure everyone’s buffs and such had been refreshed or are currently active.
Once again, the force gauge of the enemies hit 100% first. Was once again planning to use Paine’s FR but upon taking a closer look at Reks’s FR, I realized it wasn’t that bad, and my party can easily fulfill the conditions needed to increase its HP damage bonus.
So I just ended up using Reks’s FR since Sephiroth got to move before Paine. Switched out Sephiroth and brought in Reks then just activated his FR right away.
Tumblr media
Had Aerith use both of her Force Echoes but once againe opted to save Paine’s and Reks’s Echoes for later.
By the time I only have 4 turns of force time left, the HP damage bonus was at 991%. The Death Arms were down to 38% HP.
It was currently Paine’s turn. Had her use one of her Force Echoes now. This took the enemies down to 26% HP.
Then Paine got another turn thanks to the buff from her BT+. Since both enemies were now below 29% HP and since my HP damage bonus was already at 999%, opted to summon Ramuh now. Ramuh’s on-entry attack took the Death Arms down to 21% HP.
Tumblr media
Had Paine use the last of her Force Echoes. Her attack took the enemies down to 9% HP.
It was now Aerith’s turn. IIRC, had her use her LD ability, Seal Evil. This was more than enough to finish off both enemies at the same time, ending the battle on turn 18.
Tumblr media
Got the score and all the other mission requirements. This team did really well. But it’s too bad that Sephiroth didn’t really get to do much here since I had to switch him out to cancel the force time of the enemies.
Tumblr media
I suppose I could have switched out Aerith instead but - eh, what if the party needs her healing? And what if they need her buffs and support and auras and such to further increase their damage output? Hopefully, Sephiroth can contribute more in the next fight.
Fear for Home Shinryu Quest with Reks
There’s a time-limited mission that wants us to clear the Fear for Home Shinryu quest with Reks in our party and without using a friend support.
My team for this fight was Reks, Cor Leonis from Final Fantasy XV, and Quina Quen from Final Fantasy IX with Chocobo as my summon. My Calls were Edgar’s, Aerith’s, and Seymour’s.
Tumblr media
Aerith’s regular Call can heal and resurrect a dead char while her LD Call deals damage and debuffs the enemies.
Was kinda worried about this fight because my Reks isn’t built at all. Mine is Level 90 and Crystal Level 90 but none of his Force Enhancements, Character Enhancement Boards, and Summon Boards have been completed.
He does have triple perfect Artifacts and his Bloom Stone but he doesn’t have any Spheres, real or otherwise. I only have 2 copies of his base armor that we got for free just by playing through his event.
Also got a copy of his 15cp from playing through his event. Then I got another copy from throwing a few tickets on his banner. Got a copy of his Ex weapon from one of the free pulls we got on his banner.
Didn’t really have any more resources to spare for Reks so was wondering how I’ll be able to carry him through this fight for the time-limited mission. Started looking around for possible ideas and team comps.
Then I came across this vid that featured an unbuilt Reks alongside Cor and Quina. So I thought I’d give it a try.
youtube
The aforementioned video features a Reks that doesn’t have any of his weapons and armor a.k.a bronze Reks. But since I do have Reks’s base armor limit broken once, I had mine equipped with it. Was debating on whether to equip his Ex weapon or not but since I have a Level 5 of 5 Sword Ultima Weapon, I decided to just give him that.
My Cor and Quina are as fully built as my Paine and Aerith. Cor is currently equipped with my Level 5 of 5 Special or Unique Ultima Weapon while Quina has my Level 1 of 5 Spear Ultima Weapon.
Cor is a support slash DPS. He can deal pretty good damage while also being capable of supporting the party. He can even heal. His main gimmick is being able to link himself to an ally. This will allow him to do a pre-emptive attack just before the ally he’s linked to moves. One of the effects of his BT+ is that he’ll be able to link himself to both allies.
Quina is a really good support and buffer. They can also inflict enemies with a trap that deals damage.
Brought a friend support Aerith but have no intention of bringing her into battle. Just borrowed her because she has max Force Enhancements.
Not sure if having a friend with max Force Enhancements will help make my force gauge charge faster even if they aren’t brought into battle but thought I’d give it a try anyway just in case. LOL.
Anyway, followed the video pretty closely in the beginning then once my force time was up, it was pretty smooth sailing from there so just started spamming skills.
Initially, only briefly looked at the vid so didn’t take note of all the details and such. Also didn’t have the vid open for reference while I was doing this fight.
I was using my Calls and Additional Abilities and such. Was trying to set up and prepare for when my force gauge was finally fully charged. But the enemies always got to go into their force time first. This was a really bad idea since I don’t have any way of canceling their force time.
So I took another look at the video. That was when I noted that they didn’t bother using their Calls and such. They also went into Quina’s Burst+ phase early in the fight. They also summoned Chocobo soon after it was possible to do so.
All this helped to ensure that their force gauge charged to 100% and that they got to activate Cor’s FR before the force gauge of the enemies hit 100%.
So I started over from the beginning and tried to follow the vid as closely as possible just to ensure that I could also go into my force time before the enemies could go into theirs.
Was able to summon Chocobo by the time the force gauge of the enemies was at 92.2%. Before the summon ended, my own force gauge was finally fully charged so was able to activate Cor’s FR.
Tumblr media
By then the enemies were down to 88% HP. Earlier, I’d also been able to use Cor’s BT+ finisher. I did go into Quina’s Burst+ phase and right now they still have 3 turns left of their BT+ effect.
Also ended up using Reks’s Additional Ability for the heal since my party took some damage earlier.
Anyway, after the summon ended, the enemies got to move which was perfectly fine since this triggered Cor’s follow-up attacks as well as the activation of Quina’s trap debuffs. This also helped to further increase the HP damage bonus of Cor’s FR.
Just made sure that the enemies always had Quina’s debuffs on them. Also made sure that Cor was always linked to his allies for more damage. When the HP damage bonus was a bit on the high side already, started using Quina’s and Cor’s Force Echoes.
Tumblr media
By the time I only have 3 turns of force time left, the HP damage bonus was at 750% and the enemies were down to 14% HP.
Tumblr media
Cor and Quina were able to deal so much damage. They did so well. As for Reks - well, he is boosted here and he is carrying a maxed out Ultima Weapon so he didn’t do that badly but since he was otherwise unbuilt, his damage was basically negligible.
Anyway, I’d been meaning to activate Quina’s BT+ finisher but never got the chance to do so since I prioritized refreshing their trap debuff and using their Force Echoes.
Soon, the HP damage bonus was at 773%. Have 2 turns of force time left. The enemies got to move again, which triggered Cor’s follow-ups and Quina’s traps. This dealt lots of damage so soon the Death Arms were at 2% and 5% HP.
Tumblr media
Managed to get the HP damage bonus to around 787% before Quina’s traps and Cor’s follow-ups were able to finish off both bosses already, ending the battle on turn 18.
Tumblr media
Got the score and all the other mission requirements but I did end up with 842 HP lost since didn’t get the chance to heal Cor before the fight ended.
Tumblr media
I thought one or more of my chars would get another turn but the enemies just kept on moving. LOL. Well, I did remove everyone’s speed passives precisely so the enemies would get more turns.
Tumblr media
Anyway, this fight wasn’t that bad. Glad I was able to carry Reks through this quest even if mine wasn’t fully built at all.
Tumblr media
Conclusion
So, what about you? Which chars did you use to complete these Shinryu quests? Feel free to share your thoughts and opinions by leaving a comment below or by reblogging or replying to this post.
