Joey B Imagines: I Can’t Help Myself*
Tumblr media
————————————————————————-
Summary: While Joe’s away doing foundation stuff, there's an overwhelming amount of photos of him popping up on Twitter and Instagram. All of them had you patiently waiting for your fiance's arrival home.
Warnings: Smut
Pairing: Joe Burrow x reader
Imagines Universe: Just the Two of Us
A/N: Apron and shirtless Joe have me feral, had to speed-write this.
————————————————————————-
March 3rd, 2024
It all started with an innocent text from my bestie.
Attachment: 1 Image… Tumblr is going crazy over this right now!
At that moment, I shook my head with a laugh at my best friend's text. She was on Tumblr to keep up with her celebrity crushes, but one day, she jokingly looked my fiance's name up. She would never give me details about what was on the ‘tag’, but she'd now and then tell me what was up with Joe Burrow Tumblr.
Joe had left the house earlier today for a foundation event at a soup kitchen here in Cincy. Robin and Jimmy, Joe’s parents, had come from Athens and were going with him.
By the looks of the picture my best friend sent, Joe wasn't having as bad of a time as he anticipated he would. This morning was full of endless grumbles before I eventually shoved Joe out of the door, but he was smiling in the picture as he poured some soup into a bowl.
He seriously looked adorable. The Guinness hat gives him an oddly innocent look, while the apron he's wearing adds to the cuteness factor.
I'm so buying that man an apron to wear when we're cooking. I thought to myself, giggling out loud.
After sending my bestie a quick response back, I pulled up Joe’s contact.
Nice apron, cutie. 😉
Naturally, It was a while later when Joe answered, but his response set butterflies off in my stomach.
Depending on the intentions behind the wink emoji, I could ask to bring one home if it works ya up.
Taking a few moments to calm down, I shot a nonchalant response back to Joe.
The hat too?
The hat too. I draw the line at the plastic gloves, though. I gotta feel you with no barriers, baby.
How this man can control every pulse point in my body with just his words will never fail to amaze me.
Shit, my mom was reading that beside me. 😬
JOSEPH LEE BURROW.
My stomach dropped at the thought of Robin reading her son practically dirty-talking to me. That's next-level embarrassment.
I'm joking, babe. See you later, with an apron and hat.
Omg, Joe! If I was with you right now, you'd get smacked in the back of the head. I love you, though. See ya later!
Love you too. 😘
This morning, Joe woke up ready to go. I'm not talking about being ready to go to the foundation event, I'm talking about sex.
Joe woke up most mornings wanting a quick romp to start the day, so it had slowly become a part of our daily routine.
It was a different story today, though.
Still naked from the previous night’s lovemaking session, Joe had pulled me into him as our lips met. I'd just gotten close enough to grind on his erection when Joe’s phone rang on the nightstand.
“You should probably get that.” - you said between kisses
Joe groaned out of annoyance when he pulled away and grabbed his phone, rolling his eyes when he saw the caller ID.
“Who is it?” - you stroked his chest
“My mom.” - Joe
“Why'd you roll your eyes then?” - you
He sighed and pulled me into his chest, moving his hips away, knowing any friction would make him lose control.
“She treats me like a little kid every time we have one of these foundation events.” - Joe
“You're her baby, Joe. She’s just looking out for you.” - you
Joe nodded with a sigh and accepted the call.
“Hey Mom, yeah I'm awake.” - Joe
His deep, raspy morning voice made my cheeks heat up, and I hid my blush in his chest.
“My shirt’s been ironed, yes. y/n ironed it and laid it out last night.” - Joe
The silence gave me the ability to hear what Robin was saying, and the words she said only made my heart flutter.
“You better have thanked her. Joe, I don't think you realize how lucky you are to have that woman by your side.” - Robin
“I'm very lucky, Mom. Wouldn't be who I am without her.” - Joe
“Make sure she knows that. I'll see you later, sweetie!” - Robin
“Bye, Mom.” - Joe
I cuddled closer to Joe, listening to him mumble a quick “Yes, I love you too” before hanging up.
“Wouldn't be where you are without me, huh sheisty?” - you laughed
“Shut it.” - Joe rolled his eyes
A few seconds of content silence passed before Joe cleared his throat and sat up.
“Okay, I'm like super horny right now, but I'm gonna push that away because I've been thinking about something.” - Joe
“What's that?” - you
“We still haven't told anybody that I proposed. I told you we could wait till we got back to Cincy, and we've been back for weeks. I'm trying to say that we need to tell our families soon.” - Joe
“Oh ok, that's fine. Whenever you want to, I'm down.” - you
“Actually? Just like that?” - Joe
I giggled and gently reached out to comb back the curls that had fallen over on Joe’s forehead.
“Yeah, just like that. It's been fun keeping it just between us, but I want nothing more than telling our family we’re gonna get married.” - you
“Can I also ask you about something else?” - Joe
“Mhm.” - you
Joe sighed and took a second to clear his thoughts.
“You okay?” - you
“Yeah… I'm just trying to pay attention, it's kinda hard to, you know…” - Joe
He flicked his head down toward the tented sheet covering his lap.
“Focus, babe.” - you laughed
“Okay, uhm… what if we got married earlier than this coming offseason?” - Joe
“What do you mean?” - you tilted your head to the side
“What if we got married at the courthouse, no one else there? Just you, me, and the judge. It could be as soon as next month or as late as a week before our actual ceremony.” - Joe
I let his idea sink in, thinking about how sweet his idea of getting married soon is.
“I’m listening.” - you smiled
“We won't do our big vows or even exchange rings yet, just the license saying we're married, and hopefully your name change.” - Joe grinned
“y/n Burrow.” - you
Joe grinned from ear to ear, a blush on his cheeks as he heard my first name paired with his last name.
“Always thought that sounded perfect. I remember thinking about it on the first day of college during roll call. I couldn't take my eyes off of you after our professor said your name, and I thought about your last name as Burrow.” - Joe
“You're adorable.” - you
“Thanks.” - Joe
A few seconds went by without either of us saying something, but Joe broke it with a sigh.
“Are we going to continue what we were doing before your mom called?” - you
“Sadly, I have to start getting ready. Waiting will make tonight even better, though.” - Joe winked
“How do you know I'll even want it later?” - you
“You will, baby. You always do.” - Joe
Now, here I was, staring at a picture of my fiance pouring soup into a bowl.
Something about the moment just screamed husband.
Maybe it was the adorable apron. Or hat. Or plastic gloves.
Whatever it was, I wanted more of it. More of him. All of him.
My thoughts lingered to the most intimate moments with Joe. Catching myself before I got too worked up, I pulled up my phone to scroll through Instagram.
As soon as I did, though, my plan of a distraction was shot to hell.
Justin Hillard made a post of the Arizona trip the boys went on and one of the last slides showcased a sweaty, shirtless Joe.
“Where's Joe when you need him.” - you groaned
What felt like hours later, I heard the garage door open signaling Joe was home.
A minute later, his tall frame was striding into the kitchen. I watched him look around for a second before his eyes landed on me.
A grin formed on his lips as he walked up to the couch. Joe dropped to his knees in front of me and leaned in for a kiss.
When I went to pull away, Joe grabbed the back of my neck to keep me in place. After a few minutes of making out, Joe finally pulled away.
“Sorry, I really needed that.” - Joe sheepishly smiled
“It's alright, I did too.” - you smiled
“How was your day? I didn't leave you too bored, right?” - Joe
“My day was good, and no. I spent most of it obsessing over the new pics of you.” - you
“Felt like I never left then, huh?” - Joe
“Dead wrong. Staring at the pictures only made me miss you more.” - you
I watched as Joe teasingly licked his lips, never once breaking eye contact.
“Why's that?” - Joe
“Cut the shit, Joe. You know exactly why.” - you
“Because we didn't have sex this morning? That's why you missed me?” - Joe
“Well, that's not the only reason why. I naturally hate being away from you, but yes sex has something to do with it.” - you
Joe reached out and placed his hand on my inner thigh, nestling his hand against my crotch.
“Wanna go upstairs then?.” - Joe
I nodded, and Joe was quick to stand up and pick me up bridal style.
Giggles flew from both of our lips as Joe hurried up the stairs to our bedroom.
Soon, Joe was laying me on the bed and crawling on top of me.
“I love you.” - you said between kisses
Joe smiled and returned the sentiment, my arms wrapping around his neck as we kissed.
“Listen let's just get straight to it. I've been looking forward to this all day.” - you
“You don't want the tongue & finger combo first?” - Joe
I laughed at his bluntness before nodding my head.
“I need you inside me.” - you
“Fuck, I love hearing you say that.” - Joe
Joe placed his lips back on mine and shifted his weight onto one arm, lifting the other hand to unzip his fly.
I helped him shed his pants off, but Joe took my hand away when I reached for his boxers. He sat back on his knees for a second to pull his shirt over his head, quickly returning to his position above me when he was done.
My arms were around his shoulder as Joe slowly dropped his hips to grind on me. Just seconds later he'd pull away to take my clothes off.
When we were both naked, Joe’s lust-filled eyes scanned over my body before reversing course and locking with mine.
“God, you're beautiful, baby.” - Joe
After Joe lined himself up to my entrance, he slowly pushed inside. Making sure I felt every inch of him.
“You feel so good.” - Joe groaned
“You too…” - you
“So hot and wet for me, baby.” - Joe
Joe didn't move for a minute, just savoring the feeling of my walls wrapped around his hard cock.
“Joey, move, please?” - you
I watched him nod before he leaned down and pressed a tender kiss to my cheek. Joe formed a path of kisses from my cheek to my lips.
Once he met my lips, Joe slipped out of me before slamming his cock back inside.
Both of us moaned loudly when his tip hit my cervix, my walls squeezing Joe’s thrusting cock as he set a rough pace.
“You feel insane.” - Joe moaned
“I've been dreaming about this… all day.” - you
A few minutes later, Joe and I were still locked together at mouth and crotch.
“I'm not gonna last much longer.” - Joe moaned
“Me… neither.” - you
Joe’s face contorted as the overwhelming pleasure coursed through his body. His cute nose scrunching as his eyes are clenched shut.
“Oh, fuck!” - Joe grunts
Seconds later, with a shaky hand, Joe reaches down to where we were connected and rubbed my clit with his thumb. His thrusts became uneven but never once unsatisfactory.
“Joey! I'm gonna cum!” - you moaned
It wasn't much longer after that when I fell over the edge, moaning Joe’s name through my climax.
Joe continued his thrusts before rushing to get as deep as he could.
His head fell back, and his mouth fell open. A moan and grunt of my name leaves his pretty pink lips as he cums.
After his orgasm, Joe fell forward and on top of me. Burying his face in my neck as he stayed inside me, fading out the experience.
I reached a hand up and cupped the back of Joe’s head, slowly running my fingers through his unruly curls. The comforting sounds of our mutual heavy breath and the ceiling fan created a soft moment.
“You really liked that apron, huh?” - Joe
“Yeah.” - you giggled
Joe stayed there for a bit, enjoying being cuddled before he eventually pulled out and hopped out of bed.
My eyes lingered on his perfectly plump butt as Joe walked into our bathroom, later returning with a washcloth to clean us both up.
He strode up to me as I stayed lying in the bed. Joe softly caressed my thighs while gently spreading my legs apart.
I hummed in contentment at the feel of the warm washcloth, and Joe only smiled at the sound.
After cleaning himself up too, Joe slipped on a pair of clean boxers.
“Do you want one of my shirts to sleep in? Panties too, maybe?” - Joe
“Just one of your shirts will be fine.” - you smiled
Joe nodded and disappeared into the closet. A few seconds later, he walked back in with one of his pregame shirts that was from a previous season.
“Lean up for me, baby.” - Joe
I did his bidding and Joe slipped the top over my head, making sure my arms went through the sleeves.
“Comfy?” - Joe
He walked around the bed and climbed into his side.
“Very, and it smells like you.” - you grinned
“I hope that's a good thing.” - Joe laughed
“It's a very good thing, you smell delicious.” - you
Joe chuckled as he pulled me into his chest, one of his big hands running over my back as my head was hidden in Joe’s neck.
“I love you.” - you
“I love you more.” - Joe
He lovingly stroked my hair, providing tender words of affirmation and holding me tightly in his arms during their comforting aftercare ritual.
“Oh shit, do you know what I just realized?” - Joe
“What?” - you
“My apron is down in my car. I forgot to show you.” - Joe sighed
“It's okay. You can show me tomorrow.” - you giggled
“Guess what.” - Joe
I narrowed my eyes, trying to see his expression in the dark but failing.
“What?” - you
“I grabbed one for you too.” - Joe smiled
“Oh my god.” - you laughed
“I couldn't help myself!” - Joe
He laughed along with me before we both paused, coincidently yawning in sync, which ended in another laughing fit.
“Goodnight, baby.” - you
“Goodnight, my love.” - Joe

Authors note: because Joe was illegally fine that day.
Came from my own head! 💞

This is so fucking stupid and I'm not sorry. Inspired by this video of the two guitarists from DragonForce taking the piss out of Sabaton(affectionately).
Jeffington: Just ended your whole career on live 😘
Eddie scrunched his eyes closed then wrenched them open again, trying to make sense of what he was seeing on his screen. It was too early in the fucking morning for this shit.
Whatever.
He buried his face back in between Steve’s shoulders and allowed himself to fall asleep once more.
Corroded Coffin had only started making it big in the early 90’s when they split right down the middle. As time went on they started to drift towards different subgenres. Jeff and Grant had wanted to explore a more international sound, while Gareth and Eddie were happy to stay in the power metal scene with just a touch of neoclassical.
They had tried to make it work, but the sounds were just too different and while Eddie and Grant wanted to continue on with lyrics full of fantasy and gothic romance, Jeff and Grant had wanted to focus more on ‘the human condition’.
So they separated. Eddie and Gareth had kept the Corroded Coffin name while Jeff and Grant travelled, exploring their sound.
There was no animosity. They were all still the best of friends. Even as Jeff and Grant had settled in Stockholm, where they had quickly shot to stardom with their new band members, Eddie and Gareth made their home in California enjoying their own success. They met up as often as they could, whenever tour dates aligned or they were booked into the same festivals.
Eddie and Steve were godfathers to Grant’s youngest daughter.
He and Gareth had been groomsmen in Jeff’s wedding.
They were solid.
Which was why the text from Jeff was more exasperating than worrying.
Plus it was like… nine in the morning which, granted, wasn't early, early but Eddie was a damn rockstar.
And he might have lost track of time reading last night and stayed up until four but that's besides the point.
But then Steve was handing him his morning coffee with a kiss, saying Robin had sent him a link to something and fine. He’d go watch whatever stupid shit Jeff pulled.
Eddie settled back into bed because he could and it was a Sunday.
Sue him.
But he couldn’t decide if he should be fake-mad or wildly entertained because the link Robin had sent opened the VOD about an hour into the stream, just in time for Grant to say “Should we do Corroded Coffin?”
Both Jeff and Grant were sitting in Jeff’s studio space in front of Jeff’s computer with a range of instruments behind them, grinning at each other.
“Oh shit, definitely!” Jeff stood and seemed to think about it for a second before picking up one of his guitars, a bright acid green with black tendrils running throughout. “The most dramatic of the bunch,” he leaned into the mic, gesturing at the guitar before taking his seat again, “just like their frontman.”
Eddie rolled his eyes but smiled nonetheless.
“You think you can shred like Munson?” Grant asked, leaning forward and starting to tap out drum beats on the laptop.
Jeff scoffed. “Yeah right. Let me just play at five-fucking-thousand bpm and sing at the same time. It’s gonna be an approximation at best.”
Surprisingly enough the music they came up with did sound very close to Corroded Coffin’s sound. Grant relied heavily on the kick-drum and high hat to a ridiculous degree for Gareth's part and yeah, fair.
Gareth did love his high hat.
Jeff played the fastest guitar riff he could muster which honestly wasn’t that bad. He couldn’t go quite as hard as Eddie could but guitar was always Eddie’s first love and he was a master at his craft. Jeff gave the camera a cheeky wink as he used the computer to speed the guitar solo up, making it sound far more complex.
“I swear to god,” Eddie muttered to himself, “if they insinuate that I do that, I’ll fucking-”
“Eddie would never.” Jeff said, responding to someone in the chat who’d asked that very question.
Grant looked up with a sly smile. “Oh, god no. He’d never. He’s too proud for that.”
Cheeky bastards.
“You know what this needs?”
“Female backing vocals?”
“Yes!" Jeff snapped his fingers. "Exactly. Like something pulled from Jackson’s Lord of the Rings!”
“Oh come on!” Eddie pouted, but even still he could tell they weren’t actually making fun.
A notification popped up on Eddie’s phone.
Gare-Bear: Have you watched the stream?
Eddie: Watching right now. They’re starting on the lyrics.
Gare-Bear: Did Robin send you the link?
Eddie: Yeah.
Gare-Bear: Okay, keep watching.
Eddie: 👍
By the time the guys had hashed the lyrics out, punctuating them with high falsetto points that freaked Jeff’s cats out, Eddie was giggling into his coffee. The lyrics were so comically bad but they were so Corroded Coffin at the same time.
I wear armour and I am sad. I'm all alone and I am sad. Such a lone wolf am I. Except I'm not because here comes this hot man who's totally not my husband. Bats and demons and darkness and death. Bow down to me. Kneel before me. I am your master. This is about sex. Oh, look, a dragon! I'll suck your blood then I'll fuck you through the wall. Except I won't because you're an allegory for my husband again. I'll fuck him instead. Every song involves him in some way. Because I'm a big fucking sap.
And then it happened. That crafty wench.
A message popped up in the chat.
BuckyBirdie: Needs more dick sucking lyrics.
“Holy shit.” Grant whipped out his phone. “R- Birdie? Is that you? Stay right there, hold on.”
While Jeff continued to play through the guitar, Grant disappeared, raising the phone to his ear before coming back a few minutes later and whispering something to Jeff.
Jeff’s whole face split into the most mischievous of smiles and Eddie only had time to think oh no before Robin’s face appeared, joining the stream with a tired if not slightly manic expression, all topped off by her yummy sushi pyjamas.
The first thing Grant said to her was “What fucking time is it over there, Birdie?”
“I dunno.” She shrugged, looking down at her watch. “Like half six in the morning?”
“Oh. Could be worse then.”
“I haven’t slept yet.” She said with a bright smile.
“Dude! Why not?”
“I got into cryptography again last night and I haven’t stopped. Don’t tell Steve.”
Oh, I am so telling Steve. Eddie thought to himself.
“God. What a fuckin’ nerd.” Jeff punctuated his statement with a loud strum of his guitar.
Robin stuck her tongue out. “Takes one to know one.”
“Ouch. Right in my middle schooler heart.”
“Anyway, a little birdie told me you boys need some backing vocals?”
Eddie didn’t know how he was going to get her back for this, but he was sure he’d be able to figure something out eventually.
Like banging pots and pans in her hallway while she slept off her cryptography binge.
Though it was almost worth the hilarity because noted lesbian Robin Buckley happily sat there, singing about dick and tongues and assholes in a high ethereal voice that was then layered behind Jeff's.
By the end, the chat was going wild asking when it was going to be available to stream because even though it was a parody song, it was annoyingly catchy. Just before they signed off, Jeff and Grant let their audience know they’d ask Eddie and Gareth for permission before they’d do anything.
Eddie minimised the video and opened up his chat with Gareth.
Eddie: You wanna let them release it?
Gare-Bear: Fuck yeah!
Eddie: Awesome.

Hi thank you for permission to rant (you will regret this :D)
First off it’s not a couples costume but I feel like Soap and Ghost could convince the rest of 141 + friends to cosplay the bat fam
Nightwing Soap (he wins by asking bribing Gaz who he has the best arse)
Read Hood Ghost (he would look good in the jacket)
Batman price (bat dad!!)
Red Robin Gaz (he freaks people out by finding them online during the con)
Alfred Laswel (purely for the irony)
Not to sure on the others though
Poison Ivy Soap + Harlequin Ghost
Someone suggested Ghost go as the joker and Soap yelled at them till they cried (I don’t like the joker)
Super man Soap + Lois Lane Ghost
Wonder Woman + Steve Trevor (they could pull of either one)
Spider-man Soap + Deadpool Ghost
I don’t even ship it but it fits them
That’s all I have for comic books sorry as I said I don’t know much but I have a couple more hc’s that I think are funny
Danny Phantom Ghost
Dish Soap Soap (for a costume party with friends)
Comic book artist Soap + Comic book Character Ghost ( like pop art makeup)
If they were to get married I think they’d make it a cosplay event considering that’s how they started dating and Soaps Nephew would make a speech.
Sorry that got long have a great day!
Anon you are onto something with these! Bat dad Price! I hadn't even considered them bringing the whole team into it.
Spidey-Pool for life. I adore that shit. Eat it up. I like to think Andy joins them for all their cons, and documents it on tiktok, and when they do a Spiderman and Deadpool duo is when the fans really start leaning into shipping the two of them in the comments.
And don't get me started on Danny Pantom Ghost, I have a whole ass AU in my head for that one. I love it so much. Probably won't write it though? Idk. But yeah, good shit.
Also, as someone with a glasgow scar who got called a Joker wannabe a fuck ton when I first got the damn cut, I also hate joker. So no Joker Ghost here, not from me. ❤
The cosplay marriage! Yessss so freaking cuteeeee!!! 😍 Andy would put the whole thing on a tiktok live.
Anyhoo, you're a mad genius! 😘 thank you Anon!

WIP Wednesday
Snippet from my Steddie Big Bang, featuring a side of ronance.
Steve grabbed the tape from the drawer and slipped it into the case. He turned and held it out for Robin, then bumped the drawer closed with his hip.
“Are you sure this will work?” she asked, biting her nails.
“Of course, what girl doesn’t like horror movies?”
“That’s like saying ‘what girl doesn’t like the Steve Harrington charm?’” Robin scoffed. “And since, you know…lesbian.”
Steve chuckled. “Yeah, okay. I still think it will work. Trust me.”
He turned around before he could see Robin roll her eyes at him. He glanced at the clock, 5.50pm. They had ten minutes before his shift finished and then they’d drive to his house.
Well, as long as his shift change arrived in time, that is. He was frequently late.
“I’ve brought snacks, anyway,” Robin said, shaking a heavy bag at him.
“What on earth have you got in there? And I told you before, we don’t need snacks.”
“Says you. Besides, I’ve heard ‘all girls love snacks’” Robin snorted.
“They do when it’s a Steve-shaped snack,” Steve winked.
“Grrrooss! Never tell me that again.”
“I’m sure Nancy would like a Robin-shaped snack, too.”
“Steve!” Robin whined, slapping his arm. “Don’t jinx me.”
“As if I could do that,” he said, leaning on the counter. “You know, I should maybe get a finders fee for setting up you and Nancy.”
Robin took a sharp inhale of breath, hands going to her hips to stare at him in disbelief. She didn’t get to say anything, because the door siren sounded.
“Oh, hey, Nancy. We were just talking about you," Steve teased casually.
“Something good, I hope,” Nancy smiled, heading across the store to them. “Or is this top secret business as usual?”
Robin coughed weakly, her eyes panicked and a faint sheen of sweat across her brow. Her fingers twitched around the handles of the plastic bag and it crinkled.
“So, uh, what’s going on?” Nancy asked.
“Nothing. Nothing,” Robin protested.
Steve sighed. “I was just teasing Robin about bringing snacks.”
Nancy’s eyes lit up. “You brought snacks? What’ve you got?”
As Robin held open the bag for Nancy to look inside, a smirk started to appear on her face.
Steve shrugged and mouthed, “You win.”
Inspired by my friend who admitted she always brings her girlfriends snacks.

Love Is Easy
Steve turned around, eyes still closed and reached out his arm only to find your side of the bed empty. With a sigh, he pried his eyes open to glance at the clock, which revealed that it was already past nine, so it was no wonder that you had left for work. He’d already told to wake him up when you had to leave, because he needed to get up as well - even though his shift at Family Video only started at eleven - and he wanted to kiss you goodbye. You had your first date two months ago, and it had taken Steve a little to open up to you after everything that had happened lately, after getting his heart broken by Nancy, but he’d moved on now, realising, that they weren’t destined to be together. With you, though, he could see it happen, could see a future.
Up until now, love had always been complicated for him. His parents hadn’t shown him the love he’d needed as a kid, then he’d compensated that with different girls until he’d met Nancy, had fallen in love with her without realising it at first only to be told that their relationship, everything had been bullshit. He knew now that they were better off as friends, but it had still been painful for him. Opening up his heart again hadn’t come easy to Steve Harrington, but with you, with the way you’d smiled at him every day you’d seen each other, it had become easier to say yes when you’d asked him for a date - and neither of you had regretted that day.
He sat up straight in bed, pushed his head back from his face, and turned around to sit on the edge of the bed. That was when he saw it, the post-it note you’d laid on the bedside table for him to find. You did that quite frequently to put a smile on his face, but this one was a little different.
Tumblr media
I love you.
Three little words that made his heart skip a beat, that made his stomach flip, and the goofiest smile appear on his lips. Three little words neither of you had said so far, because you hadn’t wanted to put pressure on him, make him think that he had to say them back when he wasn’t ready yet. You were giving him all the time in the world, but Steve didn’t need any more time. He knew that his heart was solely beating for you by now, and the words had been on the tip of his tongue for the last two weeks at least, but he hadn’t had the courage to say them. Because he’d been afraid that you might not feel the same way, even though you showed him every day how much he meant to you. After all, you hardly spent a night away from him, some of your clothes had already found a place in his apartment.
I love you.
His heart squeezed again, because he couldn’t wait to see you later on. His smile could have probably lit up every room right now. Even the clouds that darkened the sky outside didn’t change that. Neither did the rain that pelted on his car on the way to work, that destroyed all the work he’d put into his hair on the short way from the car to the door of Family Video. Steve pushed his wet hair back from his face before he looked up at Robin behind the counter.
“Oh, looks like someone got laid last night,” she mused, crossing her arms. She had way too much fun, pulling Steve’s leg, that was just part of their friendship, but deep down, she was happy that he’d let you into his life. Because you made him happy. And she liked you as a person, because you had such a big heart, always looking out for others, and that was why you matched with Steve so well. Both of you were always looking out for the people around you, but tended to forget yourselves over that. But now you had someone by your side, who made sure that you were taking care of yourself, who was taking care of you, and you did the same for Steve. And it showed. He was eating properly, he slept better, and Robin could see him smile more often now. But that smile today, that was something else.
“What?” Steve’s brows drew together as he approached Robin threading his arms through his vest so that nobody would complain that he wasn’t wearing his work uniform.
“That smile, Steve. The weather outside is shit, you’re drenched and your hair…” She reached out a hand to smooth it down, and he didn’t even pull away like he usually did when she so much as came near to his sacred hair.
“It’s just a great day,” Steve said with a happy sigh, pulling Robin into a quick hug, before he gathered the video tapes that were on the counter that had to be taken back to their rightful places.
“Okay, now you’re scaring me. Do you have a fever?” Robin followed him, put her hand to his forehead and scrunched up her nose. “Nah, seems fine to me.”
“I’m not sick, don’t worry. I slept well, I had breakfast, and the most wonderful note on my nightstand when I woke up.”
“Now, it’s getting interesting.” Robin followed him through the room, while he put back the video tapes. “What did it say?”
Of course, Steve had told Robin all about his love life, she’d been the first person he’d called after you first date, and in turn, Robin was the one to encourage him to give it, to give you a shot, because at one point, he had to put himself out there again for something serious. As much as he might have enjoyed sleeping around in his King Steve days, he was now longing for a serious relationship, someone that made him complete, because he really felt like only half of a whole by himself. Steve was also Robin’s go-to-person when it came to dating, because he was the first person she’d told that she wasn’t into guys. Ever since they’d become friends, they’d been cheering each other on, and so Robin was especially curious what kind of note you’d left him.
“Is it something naughty? Is she gonna surprise you after work?” Robin wiggled her eyebrows at Steve, making him love.
“Better than that.” He reached into his pocket to pull out the note and hand it to Robin. His smile stayed in place as he put the last tape back. “Haven’t stopped smiling since reading this.”
“Oh… ohh!” Robin stared at the note, at the fine handwriting and the last three words. Words that she knew Steve longed to say to you but hadn’t yet in case you didn’t feel the same way. Because Steve Harrington had so much love to give, so much affection to show, that he didn’t want to be turned down again. This time, he had to be sure that his feelings were reciprocated and that he wasn’t putting way more in than the other person. But this note, your words, they made it clear that he wasn’t in this alone, that you were feeling the same way.
“Steve,” Robin said, voice thick with emotion, but she was NOT going to cry, because she was so happy for her best friend. No, she would stay calm and composed. “I’m really happy for you! So you’re gonna tell her?”
“Yes. Just have to make sure that I won’t blurt out the words as soon as she walks through the door.” Steve scratched the back of his neck, as they both went back behind the counter. “You know… It’s always been so complicated before.” He leaned his hip against the counter, crossing his arms over his chest. “With Nancy… My friends were a pain in the ass at first, not really giving her a chance, and that kind of loomed over this. Misunderstandings here and there, we weren’t able to see each other and then…” he trailed off, because he didn’t need to tell Robin about the whole bullshit thing that Nancy had delivered while being drunk, because they’d been over it before.
“Yeah, I know.” Robin handed him the note back, before she excused herself for a moment to help a customer. They weren’t really busy right now, but there were still a few people coming and going, asking for recommendations.
“But this is different,” she pointed out when she was back by his side.
“It is.” Steve nodded his head, cradling the note in his hands, before he put it back in his pocket so that he wouldn’t lose it. “It’s just so… easy with y/n. She accepts me just the way I am, even with all my flaws, and she’s not trying to change me. I don’t have to worry about what she’ll think if I spend a whole evening with Dustin or with you, because she trusts me.”
“Yeah, and there’s no need to be jealous if you’re spending time with me.” She elbowed him in the side, grinning to herself.
“No, there isn't. But I haven’t told her.” Robin knew that, but Steve had to point it out anyway. It was Robin’s secret to tell, not his. “But she still trusts me and that’s something I really appreciate.” Because Steve and Robin came as a package deal, something you’d known even before you’d started dating Steve. Sure, you’d thought they were dating at one point, but Robin had cleared that up rather quickly for you. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have asked Steve out to begin with.
“Looks like you really found your perfect match.”
“Yeah… It almost feels like I’ve been missing her in my life. Not just someone by my side… It had to be her.”
“Like she’d the piece of the puzzle that makes the picture complete.”
“Exactly!”
They both looked at each other before they started laughing.
“Okay, that’s a bit too much,” Robin said, shaking her head, but she still thought that these words were true, because she’d never seen Steve as happy and balanced before. You were the perfect match for him.
“A bit, yes.”
The hours passed, and Steve caught himself looking at the clock on the wall way more often than he usually did, but then the store got busy and more people kept coming in due to the rainy weather holding up, so they opted for a movie night at home instead of going out or whatever else they’d planned to do. It was the perfect weather for lounging on the sofa and watching your favourite movies with your loved ones, and he was already looking forward to doing that with you once the day was over.
In fact, he was so busy running around that he didn’t even see you at first. That gave you the chance to watch him for a moment. Your heart hadn’t stopped racing ever since you’d left his apartment this morning. You hadn’t wanted to tell him like this, but it had just happened. You’d written the note, and when you’d reread it before putting it on his nightstand, you saw the three words that had been burning to tumble out of your mouth for weeks. But you’d held back, because you hadn’t wanted to put him under pressure or even scare him away. You’d thought about throwing the note away, but then… you’d left it there, figuring that he would probably address it, and if it was too soon for him, you could still say that you’d written it in a rush, that you hadn’t even realised that you’d written these three words down. That wasn’t far from the truth, because you really hadn’t, but you’d decided to keep it anyway.
Your eyes followed him through the room, and you couldn’t help but smile, because he was smiling at everyone. You loved seeing him like this, so carefree and happy. But you’d also seen the darker sides, had been there when he’d woken up in the night due to his nightmares, when the fear had gripped him so tight that he’d panicked when he’d hardly been able to breathe properly. You’d been there in his most vulnerable moments and had helped him to calm down. Steve had confided in you, had told you what had happened, where his scars were coming from, and you’d simply held him to show you that you were there, that you weren’t going anywhere. You loved him when he was smiling and taking care of everyone, but you also loved him in these moments in the dark when his walls crumbled and he showed you how much he needed you around. It always gripped your heart tight, so it was probably no wonder that you’d written down these words for him.
“Hey, y/n! Good to see you!” Robin called over to you, giving you a little wave, her smile nearly matching Steve’s. It looked like they’d both had a good day at work so far.
“Hey, Robin. Likewise!” You walked over to her to give her a hug, but you’d hardly separated, when you felt Steve’s arms snea around your middle to pull you close.
“I missed you, babe,” Steve whispered, nose nuzzled in your hair, pressing against the back of your neck. You sighed in contentment, finally feeling at ease for the first time today, because it showed that he wasn’t pulling away from you because of that note.
“Missed you, too!” You turned around in his arms, raising one hand to cup his cheek, but your eyes landed on his hair. “The rain got you good, didn’t it?”
“Yeah, doesn’t matter, though.” Steve leaned in, and you met him halfway, connecting your lips with his in a kiss that set your whole body on fire, made your toes curl in your shoes, because you hadn’t expected the intensity. His hands on your waist held you close to him, thumbs brushing over your skin beneath your shirt.
“Someone’s in a good mood,” you mumbled against his lips, putting your hands on his shoulders to push him back slightly so that you could look into his eyes. “While everyone else grumbled about the weather.”
“Guess none of them have somebody who leaves them notes in the morning.” Steve pecked your lips once again, before he apologised to get back to Robin. He was at work after all, you knew that, but it was only for half an hour, then he could leave with you. His words mixed with the look in his eyes made your heart beat faster, because now that he’d acknowledged it, you knew for sure that he’d read the note.
Once the end of their work day got close, you guarded the door, helping them a bit, because you didn’t let anyone else in, only opening the door to let customers out. Once the last person had left, you locked the door so that Robin and Steve could put the finishing touches to the store before you were able to leave - with the videotape in hand that Steve had been talking about.
“I’ll see you tomorrow.” Robin waved to both of you, walking home for a change because the rain had stopped, and she wanted to give you some time alone. Granted, you’d have that once you got home anyway, but she knew just how much Steve ached to be alone with you.
Steve got in the car with you and drove home - his apartment, because it was obvious to both of you that you were staying the night again. He asked about your day and you filled him in, when you both actually wanted to talk about something else, but this wasn’t the right place, not while he was driving. Steve had that much self restraint to wait until you were in his apartment.
You felt your heart beat faster the closer you got, and you were damn close to combusting when you finally stepped through the door and were in the safety of his apartment. Steve pulled you close immediately, putting his hands flat on your back to hold you to him, while he dipped his head to bury his nose in the crook of your neck. Your own hands carded through his hair, dropping to the nape of his neck to scratch the skin there, just the way he liked it For a moment, you simply stood like that, enjoying being close to each other, feeling his breath on your skin, his hands roaming your back, before he pushed your jacket from your shoulders.
“Steve,” you whispered, slowly pulling back to look at him.
“I love you,” he blurted out, looking into your eyes. You thought your heart would stop the way he looked at you, like you were the sun, the moon and the stars all in one. And you really were. “I’ve been wanting to say this for weeks, but I just…” Steve shook his head, but you quickly framed his face with your hands to make him look back at you. You understood, because you knew how much he guarded his heart after having it broken, and so you smiled at him, brushed your thumbs over his cheeks. “I really do love you. You’re the one that makes me complete. Robin said that you’re my missing puzzle piece to complete the picture and I think that pretty much sums it up.”
The warmth that spread through your whole body, the butterflies that multiplied in your stomach, your knees that nearly gave in made you pull him close and kiss him, pouring all the love you felt for him into that kiss. His hands on your waist tightened their grip, before he wrapped one arm around you again.
“I love you, too, Steve,” you whispered against his lips before you pulled back slightly. “And it’s been the same for me. Just didn’t want to scare you away.”
“You could never scare me away.” he stole another kiss from your lips, before he slowly backed you into the living room until the backs of your thighs hit the backrest of the sofa and you leaned against it.
“I know that now.” You let your fingers travel down to his chest, placing one of your hands right above his heart. “So… about that movie…?”
“That can wait a moment longer, don’t you think?” He took your chin between his thumb and forefinger to tilt your head back, before he placed his lips on yours again. Gone was the softness from before, and it was replaced with a hunger that made your whole body tingle. Yeah… yeah that movie definitely could wait.

“Welcome to Scoops Ahoy, ladies,” Steve smirked as he leaned against the counter. The girls blushed as they asked Steve for various samples, finally deciding on their flavors.
Robin groaned as she saw the girls giggling to themselves at a table. One of the girls took a pen out, scribbling on a receipt, then walked up to Steve, frequently looking back at her giddy friend who kept egging her on. With a blush and a smile, she handed Steve the receipt, likely with her number on it, which he gladly accepted. As she walked away, Steve looked at Robin, waving the receipt in the air.
“That’s another one,” he smirked triumphantly. “How many is that today?”
“Enough to make me hand out optometrist advertisements,” Robin sassed. “Now, move out of the way, Y/N’s here and I don’t want you corrupting her!”
“One day, I’ll have a receipt with her number on it, just wait!” Steve exclaimed as Robin pushed forward to see you at the counter.
“Hey, Rob,” you smiled sweetly. “How’s it going?”
“Just dealing with this dingus and his girls,” Robin shrugged. “How are you?”
“I’m okay, thanks. Long shift at the Gap! But I brought you this,” you said, handing Robin a few pins and a new hat. “I hope you like them.”
“I love it all, thank you so much, Y/N,” Robin smiled as she fastened one of the pins, a rose, onto her vest. She leaned over the counter to hug you quickly. “Ice cream’s on me, what would you like?”
“Are you sure? I don’t want to impose,” you replied.
“I insist, you’re always bringing me treats from work, and you deserve it anyhow.”
“Well, thanks,” you smiled. “Can I have chocolate with sprinkles please?”
“I can assist with that,” Steve smirked as he twirled his scooper. “And how is the beautiful Y/N today? Did you bring me anything from the Gap?”
“Steve, go away, you’re freaking her out,” Robin said as she looked at your blushing face.
“She’s just overwhelmed by my handsomeness, aren’t you, Y/N?”
“I-I’m gonna go,” you said quickly, turning to leave.
“Wait, Y/N! Your ice cream!” Robin called, but you were too far. She turned back to look at Steve, who shrugged. She furrowed her brows and sighed heavily.
“Now look at what you’ve done.”
-🍦-
“So, Steve, what time do you get off of work tonight?” an overly-flirty girl asked, leaning over the counter.
“Just an hour or so,” Steve grinned, leaning closer to her. “Did you have anything in mind?”
“Well, I don’t know,” the girl began, twirling her hair.
“Move!” Robin yelled as she emerged from the back, bumping Steve to the side. “Y/N’s coming again today, so I have to be on the register. What do you want, blondie?” she asked the flirty girl.
“Um, nothing from you,” she scoffed, walking away. Steve glared at Robin.
“You just hate seeing me happy, don’t you?” he said, crossing his arms.
“Not particularly, okay, scram, she’s here.”
Steve trudged to the back as you walked up, talking to Robin about your day at work and finally getting your free ice cream. You all chatted for a little bit since no one else was in line, and you gave Robin a new ring.
Little did you know, Steve was stealing a few glances at you from the back, smiling softly as he watched you tug at the sleeves of your sweater, move some hair out of your face, and mix your ice cream to spread the sprinkles. You were obviously not like the other, more forward girls, and he liked that about you. Sure, it was always nice to be admired, but Steve always wanted to know what you thought of him, more than any other girl he had liked. Besides, you were the only girl he saw consistently, unlike the girls who went out with him once and never called again. You had never given him an inkling of your feelings, but he could hardly be vulnerable at an ice cream store and in that hat. Instead, he took one last look at you, blew you a kiss, and sat down, opening a granola bar.
-🍦-
As you walked into Scoops Ahoy, you were met with Steve’s wide smile.
“Hey there, cutie,” he grinned. “Robin’s working in the back today, so that means that we finally get to talk.”
“Is that so?” you asked, feeling a bit anxious.
“Yeah,” Steve replied simply. “I know I make you nervous, believe me, you give me butterflies in my stomach, but I promise I’ll be innocent as an angel, so long as you’ll teach me your heavenly ways,” he smiled playfully. You took a deep breath, gathered your confidence, and approached the counter.
“You know, those lines are a little tired,” you said, a smirk starting to form.
“Oh?” Steve asked, leaning, “and what would you suggest instead?”
“Mm, I don’t know, but I have always wondered something,” you said slowly.
“Yeah? And what’s that?” Steve smirked. You leaned over the counter.
“Are you on the menu?”
“Umm,” Steve gulped, his face getting red.
“And the other day, I’ll admit, I was overwhelmed by your handsomeness, I mean, how do you not melt the ice cream? You know, from being so hot,” you winked.
“Um, I-I don’t know,” Steve replied, his ears bright red.
“Wanna discuss it over pizza when your shift is over?”
“Seven!” Steve blurted, feeling giddy.
“Great,” you smiled, then turned to leave.
“Wait, your ice cream!” Steve called frantically. You turned around, still smirking.
“It’s okay, I’ve already got my treat,” you replied, blowing him a kiss, then turning back around. “Seeya, sailor.”
“See you,” Steve whispered, his face still bright red with blush.
“You know, you could learn a thing or two from her, flirting-wise,” Robin said. “She’s better at it than you are, I mean look at you!”
Steve’s eyes went wide hearing Robin’s voice. He turned quickly to face her, and she giggled at the sight of his flushed face.
“Seems like you’re at a loss for words, huh?” she chuckled. “I’m glad the tables have finally turned.”
Steve continued to look at Robin in silence as she walked to the counter.
“What do you mean?” Steve finally spoke.
“Oh, Steve, poor, naive Steve,” Robin said, clapping a hand on his shoulder, “You know how you can barely speak out of giddiness and happiness? How you’re blushing like someone gave you the embarrassment of your life?”
“Yeah?” Steve said, confused.
“Steve, why do you think it took Y/N so long to build up the confidence to talk to you? She’s been working on those lines for weeks. I’ll leave you with that, but first, I have to take a picture of you!”
Robin snapped a photo as Steve stood in silence, a goofy smile across his face.
“Man, I’m never gonna let you live this down,” she chuckled, looking at Steve’s lovestruck face as she captioned the photo “Dingus in Love” and hung it on the wall.

Playing The Part (I)
Warnings: Spoilers for Luke’s SSR card “Dark Swirl”, mentions of blood and violence, sexual tension and spicy moments (SFW)
Rated 17+ - Lots of sexual tension and heavy spice
Summary (Part One): With Luke away on a mission, Robin heads to a special event to distract herself from the hole in her heart. She had no idea she was walking right into his mission, or that Agent Raven would be on the case.
Tumblr media
The first time Raven’s eyes drifted, the man sitting across from him didn’t think anything of it. Raven is a cautious man after, and it wasn’t unlike him to be taking note of those walking in and out the door.
The second time his gaze drifted, it lingered a little longer and it wasn’t in the direction of the door. The subject of his attention was a small group of people chatting by the o’dourves table with drinks in hand. The crowd was a mix of men and woman, and none of them drastically stood out from the others gathered in the event hall. The man took note of their faces and clothing and carried on with the conversation.
The third time Raven focused elsewhere, the man put the puzzle together. Of the small group conversing off to the side of the dessert table, only one figure had been part of the last one. She was a woman of an average height and build, with fair skin and dark hair that matched the feathers on a robin’s back. Her smile reached her chocolate brown eyes and her posture was proper yet welcoming. She wore a long black off the shoulder dress with a sweetheart neckline that showed off a scar on her chest and long sleeves. The dress had two slits that ran from the bottom to just before the tops of her thighs. She wore nude open-toe wedges, and her nails and lips were painted a pretty maroon colour. She wore a silver bracelet, a dainty ring on her right ring finger, and a delicate hairpin kept her curls out of her face.
‘So this is the kind of woman Raven likes.’ The man thought as he took a sip of his champagne, pretending not to notice his younger colleague’s fascination. ‘Interesting.’
~~~~~~~~~~
Stepping into the banquet hall was like stepping into another world. The bright lights, the fancy decorations and table arrangements, the wealthy community dressed in their finest garments, and drinks and snacks I’ve never even heard of before. Thank God for Anna and all her experience in accompanying Marius to parties like this, otherwise I would have walked in here very undressed with the personality of a deer in headlights.
“Just do what I do, girl: fake your confidence. No one’s gonna look that hard, trust me.”
I quickly forgot about my worries when I was spotted by a married couple that were regulars at the antique shop. We spoke for a while and they introduced me to a few of their friends, several of which expressed their interest in the shop and said they would come by one day to check it out. But now, as I lingered near the dessert table sipping on my lemon water, watching everyone navigate the social circles, the very thoughts I was trying to get away from came crawling back. Those thoughts were about a chestnut haired lover of mine who hasn’t answered his phone in a little over a week now.
Setting my drink down, I opened my purse and dug for my phone. My heart sank yet again at the lack of response. The only messages that were sent the last few days were all by me.
Me: Good Morning Handsome ❤️ Stay safe today
Me: Good Night Babe, I love you 😘
Me: I’m awake and I took my meds, don’t worry about me and focus on coming home safe ❤️
Me: I’m off to bed. I love you soooooo much, Luke ❤️
Me: Rise and shine my sexy detective! Time to kick more ass today!
I sighed and clicked my phone off, returning it to its place in my purse. I rarely heard from him when his mission’s were high profile, but even so, I liked to let him know I was okay. I’ve gotten much better at waiting for him to come home and I don’t stress about his safety as much as I did in the beginning, but the box that was delivered today… that really spiked my anxiety. The recipient was listed as ‘Luke Pearce’ but the word ‘belongings’ was written on the side of the box in bold red font. I don’t make a habit of opening his mail as it could be related to his line of work, and therefore, confidential. The urge to rip that box open was intense, though. If it’s not Luke’s stuff, then who’s is it?
“Pardon me, Miss.” My head snapped up at the sound of a nearby voice. “I couldn’t help but overhear that you are quite knowledgeable with old and rare items. Is that correct?”
The man standing next to me looked to be in his mid-thirties and was as well dressed as every other guest tonight. He had pale blond hair and dark blue eyes, but something about his eyes made me hesitate. They looked… what word was I looking for? Suspicious.
“I wouldn’t call myself an expert, but I know a fair amount for my line of work.” I said, offering a polite smile.
“Oh, where are my manners? The name is Bright Paddon. I’m a business man who is still trying to find my footing in the business world.” He gave a hardy laugh and handed me a business card. “I would be honoured if you would sit with my colleague and I. I’m interested in discussing future business endeavours with you.”
“Oh, thank you.” I accepted his card and placed it in my purse. “Your offer is rather kind, but I don’t own my place of work so it wouldn’t be appropriate for me to get involved in our business partners. I will pass this along to my boss and perhaps you will hear from him.”
“It’s no rush, but perhaps you can put in a good word for me.” Bright placed a hand on my arm and bend the other out towards the VIP tables. “Please, join us. The show is about to begin, and I assure you we have the best seat in the house.”
A voice in the back of my mind was telling me to turn him down, but an unknown pressure made me cave. I followed him towards his table and, as we got closer, my jaw threatened to drop. Standing around the mini lounge was a group of men dressed in suits - bodyguards, most likely. There was one man sitting, the lack of emotion in his eyes so cold yet so familiar. I knew instantly that I wouldn’t be speaking to my sweet Luke anytime soon.
‘I’m not supposed to be here.’
“Raven, look who I’ve brought over.” Bright spoke, tone full of pride as he presented me. “I’ve noticed you’ve taken an interest in this woman. She’s got an eye for old treasures, it seems. Why don’t we all take this opportunity to get to know each other?”
Luke’s frown ran deep, eyes indifferent as he met my gaze. Still, hidden deep down in those coral depths, I could see a heat. It wasn’t the passionate heat of a lover, though - it was more like a warning. Not that I blamed him; I very well could blow this mission to smithereens if I’m not careful and get him exposed.
“No need, Bright.” Hot and cold collided in his tone. “She’s my woman to begin with. We know each other on a level you could only ever hope to achieve. What need is there to re-familiarize ourselves?”
Bright looked genuinely surprised. “Oh, so you do know each other. Well then, there’s no need for you to sport such a frown in front of your lady.”
Luke stood up from the couch. “What man would be happy seeing their woman that close to someone else?”
Stepping between Bright and I -and practically bumping Bright out of the way as he did so- Luke wrapped an arm around my waist and tugged me forward until I was leaning against his chest. My hands naturally found his shoulders, the feel of his muscular body beneath his black suit and the scent of his cologne, a cool, light and elegant scent, sparked something within me.
Luke and Raven are the same person; “Raven” is the persona he takes on when handling undercover missions like whatever must be happening here tonight. Raven is much colder and more openly distrusting, and to be honest, more brutal when it came down to physical altercations. Raven is intense - I can feel it in the air around him whenever Luke showed this side of himself. Because I love Luke, I love Raven, and because I trust Luke, I feel safe leaving my life in Raven’s hands if it came down to it.
But for the sake of not messing this up, it might be best to mentally address him as “Raven” for tonight. It reduces the possibility of a slip up when addressing him.
“Besides… we had a little tiff between us earlier, didn’t we?” Raven asked, giving my waist a subtle squeeze… a request to go along with it.
Something about being in the arms of this man gave me the strength to mirror his confidence, and I responded in a gentle voice with a hint of seduction to it. “We did. You’re developing a bad habit of disappearing on me, Raven. I was getting worried.” Leaning my weight even further into him, I brushed my forehead along the curve of his jaw and batted my eyelashes. “Please don’t be mad. I just don’t want to lose you.”
The corner of his lips curled up ever so slightly. “I had no idea you cared for me so much.”
“Would I have come looking for you if I didn’t love you?”
The sigh he let out was barely audible. The smirk dropped from his lips and his eyes shifted to Bright, though he was still talking to me. “Really? Then what were you up to with Bright? You looked rather pleased that he was showing you attention.”
Bright laughed nervously and waved a hand dismissively. “You misunderstand, Raven. As I said earlier, I noticed you were interested in her. A lot of beauties have come your way, but I’ve never seen you take a second glance at any of them. I couldn’t help but be curious about this woman who has caught your fancy. I meant no harm.”
“You know I’m a possessive person, especially about the women I’m with. As for you…” Raven’s arm tightened around me again, dragging a heat out from my depths. “If you love me as much as you claim, don’t you dare betray me.”
“I would never even dream of it.” I replied, staring him right in the eye.
He hummed, sounding unsure as to whether or not he believed me. I didn’t miss the way his eyes flickered to my lips as he let me go and returned to where he had been on the couch. “Sit.”
I took up the space next to him, sitting close but not cuddling up to him like I would at home. Raven reclined against the back of the couch, one leg crossed so his ankle was resting on his knee. The arm closest to me was outstretched behind me, laying across the top of couch’s back cushions. He wasn’t touching me, but I felt protected all the same.
The lights dimmed and the show started, and though my eyes were watching the performance my mind wasn’t taking any of it in. I had more important things to focus on, like trying to figure out how to navigate this mess I’ve caused and how to do so without getting Luke, er, Raven, exposed. For starts, it would be best to keep my mouth shut and only give vague responses if I must. I probably shouldn’t touch or consume anything unless Raven directs me to do so, either. The banquet hall has suddenly become full of land mines and I have to be careful not to step on one.
Something moving in the corner of my eye caught my attention. I turned my head just in time to see Raven place a glass of ice water with a lemon hanging on the rim in front of me. I glanced at his face but he looked indifferent, so I whispered a ‘thank you’ and squeezed the lemon juice in before taking a sip.
“I take it your not much of a drinker, Miss?” Bright suddenly asked, and although it was dark I could feel him staring at the scar on my chest, a mark left behind from several surgeries.
I smiled politely and set the glass back on the table. “I’m not.”
“Her eyes are up here, Bright.” Raven snapped, though I dare say it was almost a growl.
“Ah, forgive me. I didn’t mean to be rude. I just can’t help but be impressed when I encounter a woman who is so confident in beauty that she’s not afraid to show such blemishes.”
It took everything in me not to screw my face up in disgust. At one point in time, I was too embarrassed to let this scar see the light of day. But then I met the man sitting next to me, and he helped me learn to see it as a mark of continuous survival instead of a reminder of my curse. It’s thanks to him that I can wear a dress like this, one that puts my scar on display and feel like the sexiest woman on the planet.
A waiter arrived at the table just then, breaking the tension that was starting to prickle the air. He said nothing, but wore a kind smile as he played several small desserts and appetizers on the table. He even brought a bottle of expensive looking wine with him. The dessert plates contained treats such as fruit tarts, muffins, and bread based pastries. I sampled some items from the dessert table earlier, but these were different. The staff must have reserved these for during the show. I turned my gaze back to the show, not intended to touch anything. They looked delicious, but the stress of potentially ruining things kept me from freely doing anything.
Raven’s huff of a chuckle brought my focus back to him. “Since when are you so modest? Eat.”
I noted how my cheeks warmed as I reached for a blueberry muffin. It didn’t seem like he was going to eat himself, but I’m sure he had his reasons not to other then the food being unsafe. He would never let me touch it if that was the case.
“I’ll admit, I’m very curious about how the two of you met.” Bright said, spreading some butter on his slice of banana bread. “Raven isn’t the type to be captured so easily. You must be one heck of a woman, Miss…?”
I pretended not to notice how he trailed off with a questioning tone. Creating a fake identity isn’t something that can be done properly on the spot. For a common passerby, sure, but someone like Bright Paddon who is on the NSB’s radar? He’d likely bust my lie in a second. Not giving him an identity has to be the safer option, surely.
“I’d say Raven is the one who caught me.” I looked at the man sitting next to me and flashed a quick, lovesick smile before reaching for my water. “He’s not the type of man to be captured by anyone. Wouldn’t you agree?”
“Yes, that sounds about right.” One of the bodyguards approached Bright just then, leaning down a little and whispering something to him. “Ah, I see. Excuse me for a moment, friends. An old client of mine wishes to say hello. I’ll return shortly.”
With that, he stood and followed the bodyguard off into the shadows, taking several others with him. Three still lingered from us at a bit of a distance, but not far enough. They were still close enough to notice if we dropped character.
Raven picked up a mini butter tart. “Don’t pretend I haven’t noticed you eyeing this since it was brought out. Go on. Eat it.” I reached for it, but he clicked his tongue and moved it away. “Did I say to use your hands?”
Hopefully the darkness was thick enough to cover my cheeks, which I’m sure were bright red. “You’re teasing me again.”
The smirk that tugged at his lips was dangerous and seductive. “I thought you liked it when I played with you?”
My body was lightly trembling now, but it wasn’t from anger. It was… something else, something I couldn’t name. The air around Raven was so intoxicating it was making my head feel light, much so that my subconscious control took over. My mind was stuck in a daze as I leaned forward and bit into the dessert, a sweet taste exploding on my tongue.
“That’s my good girl.” He said, and I was too late to stop the moan that escaped me. Hopefully, anyone who overheard it would think it was from the taste of the tart. Then, in a lower voice next to my ear, he said, “You’re doing great. Hold on for a little longer. I’ll get you out of here as soon as I can.”
I nodded, taking the rest of the tart between my teeth and leaning back as I chewed. My breath hitched as Raven touched the corner of my bottom lip, wiping something away before bringing his thumb to his mouth and licking it off. The flash of tongue, combined with the heat in his eyes as he watched me, had me squeezing my thighs together. He has to know how he’s affecting me, right?
Bright returned, shattering the tension and I couldn’t decide if I was grateful for it or not. “Apologies, my friends. I hope I didn’t keep you waiting too long.”
He motioned for the nearest waiter to come and refill Raven’s glass. Luke- darn it, I did it again. Raven, as fierce as he is, doesn’t have the biggest alcohol tolerance. He’s been drinking pretty steadily since I got here, and I had no clue how much he had to drink before that. He seemed to still be sober, or maybe he’s better at hiding it then I thought?
Bright gestured towards the stage, where the performance was continuing as scheduled. Several dancers in sparkling white ballerina costumes were dancing around glass swan sculptures and beneath decorations that looked to be made of pure gold. “See all those flashy things onstage? It’s ironic that my shady goods just came in with them. It took me a lot of effort to get them here, Raven. You can’t be stingy with your offer.”
I was listening while trying to make it look like I wasn’t, keeping my eyes glued to the stage and resisting the urge to glance at the man sitting across from me. Why he felt comfortable bringing it up in my presence, I had no idea. Maybe he’s that full of himself that he thinks nothing can stop him. If only he new the ulterior motives behind the man he was trying to sell them too. Whatever their goods were, it has to be what this mission is about.
Electricity ran across my skin as Raven’s fingers brushed my shoulder. His touch felt incredible on my skin. “Oh? Are you trying to bid up the price?”
“Nothing of the sort, but you can’t blame a man for having caution. Those goods cost me a lot, and I’d hate to be swindled.”
“I can, and would, swindle any man but you, Bright.” I watched him drain his glass of wine all once from the corner of my eye. He tossed the empty glass carelessly onto the dark carpet, then took hold of my chin and turned my face towards him. My breath caught, eyes flickering to his lips. They were so close. “I’m done talking business for now.”
Raven caught my wrists in a tight grip, but wasn’t hurting me at all. He pushed me further into the back of the couch, practically pinning me to it as he leaned in close and started peppering kisses along my jawbone. His breath was tickling my skin, my heart was racing, something in the pit of my stomach was throbbing, and my mind was drawing a complete blank.
“Resist.” He whispered his instruction so quietly I almost missed it.
It took me a second, but his order set my thought process back into motion. I placed my hands, the wrists of which were still caught in his grip, against his chest and pushed. I could feel him pushing back against me, and the heat of his body beneath the suit was making my knees shake. “Now, Raven, this isn’t the time or place for that.”
Bright cleared his throat. “Raven, you’re drawing unwanted attention. Why don’t you and the lady head upstairs so you can rest and sober up a little?”
Raven huffed in annoyance, but withdrew his advances. “I’m not drunk.”
“Right, well, you won’t be missing anything from the show. I’m sure you’ll find something more entertaining to pass the time.”
I tried not to react when Bright’s eyes flickered towards me. Two bodyguards escorted us to the upper floor of the hotel, where several rooms had been rented out to the guests of the event. I breathed a quiet sigh of relief when they left, but before I could break character completely, Raven gave a short, sharp whistle to grab my attention. His eyes were still icy cold.
“Come. Loosen my tie for me.” He ordered, voice stern.
I knew he wasn’t legitimately mad at me, but his acting was so realistic I couldn’t help but swallow a lump in my throat before approaching him. The second I touched his tie he spoke again, but this time, his voice was the tiniest bit softer. Barely enough for anyone who didn’t know the real him to notice, but I did. That little changed released some of my anxiety. He was being as reassuring and gentle as he could be, considering the situation.
“I checked the floor mirror in the corner when we came in. It’s a two-way mirror.”
I fought the urge to scrunch my face up, and responded in just as quiet of a voice. “Those creeps are watching us?”
He hummed, then unexpectedly grunted. “Easy, girl. You’re strangling me.”
“Sorry. This thing’s giving me a hard time. I almost got it.”
And I did. A second later, it finally loosened. I was about to let my arms fall back to my sides but Raven captured one, holding my hand against his chest for a moment before lifting it above my head. The heat in his eyes from earlier was back. “Turn. Slowly.”
My face, neck, shoulders, every part of me flushed at his command. As I spun for him, taking my time and perhaps even dragging it out, I couldn’t help but wonder when the last time I felt this shy in front of him was. I felt like prey beneath the starving gaze of a predator yet I wanted nothing more then to be caught and eaten. ‘God, what has this man done to me?’
“This dress is new.” He stated after I completed my spin. The way his eyes kept travelling was making my heart race.
“The girls helped me pick it out.” I said, purposely not mentioning their names. I didn’t want to get them dragged into this mess.
He hummed again, the sound coming from deep within his chest and making my skin tingle. I gasped as he tugged me closer, his hands finding my hips as he trapped me flush against him. I held onto his shoulders, my lunges going into overdrive to keep from suffocating on his scent. My dress suddenly felt too tight, my organs on fire as he started backing me towards the mirror.
“Do you trust me?” Raven asked. It’s one of the most intimate questions a lover could ask.
“With my life.”
He moved one hand from my hip to the back of my head, protecting it from smacking against the glass as my back finally hit the mirror. I barely had time to register how cool the glass felt against my heated skin before Raven descended upon me, claiming my mouth and taking ownership of my lips. I moaned instantly, overwhelmed by the ferocity of his kiss and the taste of him. I plunged one hand into his hair, grazed the nails of the other along the back of his neck, and he responded by leaning even more into me; not enough to crush me with his weight but enough for me to feel even more of him. I gasped and he took the opportunity to push his tongue past my lips, bringing the faint taste of wine with him. My body separated from my mind, instinct to relieve the building pressure taking over. I shifted my weight to one leg and lifted the other, wanting to hook it around his waist but Raven caught me just below the knee and held me against his hip. Because of the slit in my dress my leg was exposed, and I moaned again as his hand started running up and down my thigh.
I tilted my head away for a break, practically gasping for air but Raven wasn’t ready to call it quits yet. I sighed and closed my eyes as he started working my neck over, using his breath, lips and tongue to keep me going. “R-Ra-Raven…”
“Once the show is over, I’ll find an opportunity to get you out of here.” He said, working his way down to my chest. He pressed a lingering kiss against my scar, then started sucking on the skin above the fabric covering my left breast. “Police will be waiting outside. When you see a cab with the license plate AB065, hail it. It will take you home safely. Can you remember that?”
The gears in my head were turning, but nothing but smoke was coming out. “A…AB…” The image of the box labelled ‘belongings’ suddenly flooded my mind. I squeezed my eyes shut and shook my head, trying to fight my way through the fog and back into sanity. “No, I’m not walking away.”
Something between a gasp and a moan escaped me as his teeth grazed my skin in warning. The feeling sent addicting tingles down my spine. He practically hissed against my chest. “Now’s not the time to be stubborn.”
He kissed me again. They say when two people love each other so deeply, they can send a message through a kiss. Luke’s message was obvious: “go home, please.” Home is safe. The monster he’s dealing with tonight won’t be able to reach me there, but I love this man far more then I love myself. I’d crawl my way through hell to make sure he comes home safely, no matter what enemy stands before us.
Breaking the kiss, I used all my might to turn us to the side and shoved Raven off, sending him falling back into a plush chair that, conveniently, was in a blind spot. I took advantage of his disorientation to straddle him and hold onto the back of the chair on either side of his head. His hands gripped my hips, Adam’s apple bobbing as he started up at me with hazy coral eyes.
When I was sure he wasn’t going to move me off him, I sat back on his thighs and fiddled with his tie. “Bright seems like he’s very wary. He kept trying to dig information out of us earlier, wasn’t he? You were so possessive of me earlier. Sending me off out of the blue is gonna make him question you.”
He wasn’t refuting my statements, so everything I’m saying must be true. Remembering that we still need to be cautious of getting caught, I leaned forward and pressed my lips against his neck. Raven’s fingers dug into my hips and I could feel his heart pounding in his chest. I adjusted, shifting a little closer to him as I planted more kisses to his skin.
I made sure to keep my voice down as I continued. “You’ve been gone for days, you haven’t had any contact with me - that means this mission is high profile, right? Use me being here to your advantage. I think it’s safe to say his suspicion has shifted onto me, and if anything goes wrong, you can pin it on me and get out safely.”
I sat up again, my face hovering right above his. He was wearing that signature glare but his face was beat red and his breath was coming out a little harsh.
I smiled and threw his question right back at him. “Do you trust me?”
The door to the room opened before he could answer. “Raven, the guards said- Oh, I see.” Bright tried to hide his smile behind his hand, but I could see the corners of it peeking out. “When the guards said they hadn’t heard a peep, I thought something had happened to you. I never expected you to have a side like this, Mr. Raven.”
If I hadn’t already known we were being watched, I would have been embarrassed to have been walked in on like this.
Raven practically growled as he glared Bright down. “Bright, shut up if you don’t know what to say. Get out.”
“Yes, yes, I’m going. I just came to say that I’ve been notified a rat has snuck in. It’s best we be on our way.”
“Understood.” Playing into character, Raven tapped the bottom of my chin with the side of his index finger. “Later, girl.”
I pouted, waiting for the door to close behind bright before letting it fall. “The things I do for you.”
I was about to get up, but he wrapped an arm around me waist and brought me back so he could kiss me again. This time, it was much softer. “You do what I say, when I say it. Understand?”
I nodded, sealing my promise with another kiss before climbing off him. Raven took my head and started pulling me towards the door, and as I passed the mirror, I caught a glimpse of the faint bruise starting to form on the left side of my chest. A mark of possession.
“Nuh-uh, shush, you are not sneaking out of this conversation, you hear me?” Robin insisted, putting her hands on her hips. “We are talking about this, because best friends don’t let their platonic soulmates fuck rockstars without checking in with them at least.” Raising an eyebrow at Robin, Steve said, “Fine, we’ll talk about it after I shower. I’m not having this conversation with the situation currently happening in my boxers right now.”
Hi Kristen!! If you're still doing the ship game, may I request one? 🥺💗
Looks wise I'm 5'6, curvy, freckled, and I have long red hair and brown eyes! I have a few tattoos along with piercings in my ears, septum, and naval :)
Personality wise, I'm shy but very silly once you get to know me! I love all animals but rabbits in particular have a special place in my heart :') I'm into crocheting, painting, cooking, hiking, reading, practicing yoga, and telling awful jokes. A friend of mine once said I have the vibe of a former goth kid turned kindergarten art teacher and I think that's pretty accurate 🥰
Thank you for your time 😚🫡💗 (ps I love you)
-@bewilderedbunny
Of course, my dearest love! You’re so cute! I love youuuuu and thank you for sending this in! ❤️ 😘
Your Stranger Things Match Is…
(It could also be Eddie, but this one is my first instinct)
Tumblr media
How you met…
At the mall. You were shopping for some cute little jewelry pieces in Claire’s when Steve walked by. King Steve in a little degrading but adorable uniform? Was his ass supposed to look that good? You made the first move by going in for an ice cream you didn’t really care about. You really made him explain each and every flavor, Robin gagging in the back at the overwhelming pheromones you two were exchanging.
He asked you out with his quirky charm and it had worked!
How your relationship is…
Steve isn’t used to a lot of your interests or likes, but he does like you, so he’s eager as a beaver to get to know what you’re all about. He finds that cooking can be enjoyable (when he knows how to do it without burning eggs). You’re an amazing teacher, and if he can steal a kiss or five — bonus! You’re ethereal to him, beautiful in every move you make, admirable in how you care about your job and your animals. He grows smitten and protective in a very short amount of time.
Opposites can definitely attract! And he loves venturing onto your former goth side! ;)
The future of your relationship…
He’s got his own drawer in your place now. Some boxers and his toothbrush :)
Happy one year anniversary to 21:21!!!!
Robbe + Sander 🥰🥰🥰🤩🤩🤩😘😘😘🤯🤯🤯
Gij en ik... 100% voor altijd... In elk universum...
To celebrate, here is a small extract from chapter 38…
21:21
The boys entered the bedroom. Sander locked the door and turned towards Robbe. They looked into each other’s eyes. Without speaking a single word they communicated all their feelings towards each other. The love and the desire… Sander didn’t waste a minute… He instantly put his hand behind Robbe’s head before pushing him against the wall in a passionate and all-consuming kiss that only ended when both boys were gasping for air.
Robbe pushed himself and Sander away from the wall and towards the bed. The boys fell in the bed, Robbe on top of Sander. Robbe giggled from happiness as he moved his hands underneath Sander’s shirt. The feeling of Sander’s warm skin, his perfectly toned body, the smell of his perfume… Robbe pulled off Sander’s shirt and he started to shower his boyfriends neck with delicate kisses. Suddenly, Robbe stopped and moved upwards to look Sander in the eyes. Robbe was staring at Sander with a lovesick face and Sander knew that Robbe was trying to collect his thoughts to say something. They rarely tried to truly express their love with words because every time either boy tried they failed… Words could not describe their love for one another… The only way to convey that message was by how they looked at each other and through skin contact… Something as simple as their foreheads touching could convey such a powerful message of love between the two of them… People would almost believe that the boys communicated telepathically…
Then Robbe started… “Before I met you I was lost… I was hiding my true self… I was trying to be what I believed that other people expected me to be… I was unhappy… Lonely… Broken…” Robbe said. A tear ran down the side of Sander’s face as he felt the pain in Robbe’s words. Robbe continued. “But then I met you” he said with the biggest smile on his face possible. “When I was with you I felt safe. Loved… I no longer had to hide myself… I was free… And I cannot thank you enough for that… You’re my sunshine… My raison d'être… My boyfriend and best friend… My soulmate… These last fifteen months has been the happiest time in my life… I am looking forward to spending another century with you… No, erase that… I want it to last infinitely… I want to take you on a journey and show you all the stars in the entire universe… And when we have seen every bit of this universe I will take you to the next one… I am yours forever! In every universe!” Robbe continued.
Sander smiled at Robbe’s love serenade. He wanted to pull his boyfriend in for a kiss but he resisted that urge. First, he had to give Robbe a love serenade of his own… Even though no words could fully capture the love that he felt for that boy. “My disease has not made my life easy… I was constantly in a storm… A lost ship in the rough ocean… Often I drove into the cliffs and crashed… But then you came and became my rock in the wild sea… You gave me the peace, safety, stability, and love that I had longed for for so long… In fact, before I met you I did not know what love was… You taught me the meaning of that word… You saved me Robin! You truly are my angel…” Sander said.
A tear started to run down Robbe’s face. First because of the sadness of Sander’s struggles and then because of happiness from the sweetest love declaration. Sander giggled. “Look at us…” he said, “Both crying”. He hadn’t even finished his sentence before Robbe’s lips met his own. “I love you so much” Robbe spoke in Sander’s mouth. “I love you too Robin” Sander replied before pushing himself and Robbe around so that he was now laying on top. He quickly removed Robbe’s shirt and started to kiss his boyfriends neck and shoulders while Robbe placed his right hand on Sander’s head. He loved to feel Sander’s hear flow through his fingers.
Suddenly a jolt of turbulence interrupted the boys. Robbe giggled from this sudden rollercoaster feeling. “You really laugh like the chicken” Sander commented. “Shut up San” Robbe faked annoyance causing both of them to laugh. Their happy moment was interrupted by a cry coming from the baby monitor. The turbulence must have woken up little Sander. Sander got up, put his shirt back on and left the bedroom.
A few moments later he returned with their son. “No need to cry, little one” Sander said, “It’s just some wind. You’re safe with me and your papa”. He went over to Robbe and sat next to him in the bed with his son in his arms. Robbe stroked the cheek of his son while he said: “hey little one”. Being in the safety of his both dads quickly made the baby stop crying. Sander placed a delicate kiss on the forehead of his son. “We will always keep you safe” he promised his son. “Can I?” Robbe asked. Sander placed the baby in Robbe’s arms who stood up and started to pace around while singing a sleeping song.
“Sleep baby sleep
What are you waiting for?
The morning's on its way
You know it's only just a dream”
A few moments later baby Sander was back sleeping peacefully. Robbe returned the baby to its crib before getting back to Sander. “Where were we?” he asked with a look of burning desire as he got back into their bedroom. Seeing his boy act so sexy made Sander smile. “Come!” he invited Robbe back in bed… This night was going to become ‘OUR night’.
Hello there, hope you are feeling good today 💜
So, I did some thinking (surprising) and I decided that Steve is not book smart but people smart. Like, I am sure he is not even aware of how good he is at reading people (Vicky example) or sometimes he just doesn't have enough knowledge on things to read them properly (robin example) but I think that's why he is such a great Babysitter™ - teens are hard to get along with and he does that really well. Anyway I would like to request a fic with Steve where the reader listens to him talking about someone and how he thinks they feel or something like that and she calls him smart and Steve is just, shocked to say the least. Hope it's not too much have a great day or night! (Don't know your time)
Hi!! I am feeling well today, but very tired! I played in the rain for the first time in a while 💕 I hope you're well too, and that this fic makes you happy! As always, I had a blast writing it 🤗 Please show love and support, friends!! ❤️✨
Word count: ~1.5k
Warnings: fluff, meeting the parents trope, romantic Steve x reader
For @maltinonka 😘
🤔 Real Genius
Tumblr media
“Okay, so remember that my dad likes football but hates baseball. If my mom offers seconds, always say yes, but take small portions because she’ll keep offering throughout the night, and she thinks it’s rude if you take too much. And also, my brother may or may not be nice, he’s sort of picky like that, and he’s heard a lot about you from the kids at Hawkins High, so just-”
“Y/N,” Steve said, turning to you and holding your hands. “I promise you that everything is going to be just fine. Don’t forget that I am a multi-talented and charismatic being,” he boasted, making you groan.
“Steve, seriously!”
“I understand, baby, and I’ll take this seriously, I swear. But I don’t want you all nervous and stuff,” he said, wiggling your arms around, making you giggle. He kissed your forehead gently, then walked up to your parents’ front door. When Steve knocked, your younger brother, Patrick, opened the door.
“So, meet the parents night,” he said dryly, looking Steve up and down.
“Hey, man, I’m Steve,” he said, nodding to your brother.
“Patrick. Come in. Don’t forget to take your shoes off.”
“Hello, brother,” you teased, giving him a small hug, which he returned.
“Y/N, hi, sweetie!” your mom said as she walked into the living room. “And you must be Steve, hello!” she exclaimed, pulling Steve into a hug.
“It’s nice to meet you, Mrs. L/N, you have a lovely home” he smiled, then winked at you.
“Oh, you are too kind! Y/N, your father is out on the deck finishing up the grilling,” your mom said sweetly, gesturing to the door. You two walked out to see your dad singing loudly to his music as he flipped burgers.
“Hi, Dad,” you said, startling him.
“Oh! Hey there, pumpkin,” he smiled, then looked at Steve. “And who is this strapping young man?”
“I’m Steve Harrington, sir, your daughter’s boyfriend,” he said, offering his hand to shake.
“Nice to meet you, Mr. Harrington,” your dad grinned. “Do you grill?”
“I do every once in a while,” Steve smiled.
“Good for you! I can’t convince ol’ Patrick to learn. He prefers to listen to music and draw. Not like my tunes though! He listens to that new heavy stuff.”
“I have a friend who listens to that music, he’s a good guy,” Steve encouraged.
“It’s always given me the heebie jeebies,” your dad shuddered, making Steve chuckle.
-🤔-
As you all settled on the deck to eat, you all had normal conversation. Steve was right-- everything was flowing pretty smoothly, and your anxiety soon melted away. You did, however, feel bad for Patrick; every single one of your dad’s comments might as well have been “I wish Steve were my son instead of Patrick!” Everything about Steve was what your dad envisioned as the “perfect guy.” Little did your dad know, Patrick was sinking.
“So, Patrick, your dad says you like metal music?” Steve asked suddenly, making Patrick look up in surprise.
“Uh, yeah? I’m guessing you don’t,” Patrick muttered.
“I don’t usually, but my friend Eddie does, and he plays some stuff for me. Like, actually though. He’s in a band. And he’s pretty good, I like the songs his band plays.”
“What do they play?” Patrick asked, his voice and posture perking up.
“Well, Eddie’s favorite is Black Sabbath, but they also play Scorpions, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Mötley Crüe, stuff like that.”
“I like Iron Maiden,” Patrick said.
“I haven’t heard much of their stuff, but I guess my favorite would be ‘Run to the Hills’. What about you?”
“It’s um, ‘Rime of the Ancient Mariner’.”
“Woah, that’s a commitment! I’m sorry, but I had to cut Eddie off on that one,” Steve chuckled. “Have you ever drawn scenes from it?”
“Yeah, actually, I have,” Patrick smiled.
“I didn’t know that, honey,” your mom said quietly but happily.
“I’ve seen them,” you commented. “They’re really good. I’m sure Steve would love to see them, Patrick.”
“Would you?” Patrick asked excitedly.
“You bet I would!” Steve grinned. “I suck at drawing, so it’s nice to see some decent talent once in a while.”
“Hey, I draw you pictures all the time!” you argued, play-hitting Steve’s arm.
“I rest my case,” Steve smirked at Patrick, who was looking as giddy as ever.
-🤔-
After dinner, Patrick showed Steve all his drawings, and Steve commented on every single one, asking questions and showing lots of interest. Some of the drawings were paired with songs, so you and Steve sat on Patrick’s bed as he played them, giving you both a slideshow with his drawings. Neither of the boy’s smiles faded, and by the end of the evening, Patrick had gained a new, not to mention incredibly unlikely, friend.
“Thank you for everything, Mr. and Mrs. L/N. The food was delicious and the company was wonderful. It’s been a pleasure meeting you both. You too, Patrick,” he said, mussing up Patrick’s hair.
“It was our pleasure, Steve, you are welcome back anytime,” your mom said, giving you both hugs. “I’m very happy Y/N has chosen you to be her boyfriend.”
“I guess same here,” Patrick smirked. “But only if you take me to a Corroded Coffin gig!”
“It’s 18 and over kiddo, so you’ll have to wait for next month’s show,” you said.
“Dude, it’s gonna be your 18th birthday next month?” Steve exclaimed. “Oh, that’s our plan, you, me, Y/N, we’ll go to Eddie’s gig and then we’ll have pizza and cake after, it’ll be a blast! You’ll love Eddie, right, Y/N?”
“Oh yeah, absolutely,” you smiled. “Whatya think, Patrick?”
“Are you guys serious? That sounds like the best birthday ever!” Patrick said, giving you a tight hug. He hesitated as he looked at Steve.
“Bring it in,” Steve smirked as he patted Patrick’s back.
“Well, we’re off. I love you guys,” you said, and walked out with Steve.
-🤔-
“I can’t believe you,” you said, kissing Steve as you got in the car.
“I told you, I’m a genius with parents.”
“No, with Patrick! I couldn’t believe how well you two connected.”
“He’s a cool kid,” Steve smiled. “And I could tell by the way he acted at first that he thought I was still some no-good varsity guy, so I had to prove him wrong. And I could tell that he and your dad aren’t the best of friends, but it’s only because, if I may say so, your dad hasn’t taken the time to get to know him. Your dad doesn’t realize that being a guy involves stuff he doesn’t do, which I totally get, when I have kids, I’d love to have a mini me, but if they’re different like Patrick, they should know it's alright. Patrick is a great kid, and I don’t feel like he’s told that often. I mean, did you see how he lit up when I mentioned metal music? He’s not standoffish, he’s just a kid who’s dying to share his interests, but he doesn’t know enough people who are interested in them!”
“You, Steve Harrington, are so, so smart,” you said, kissing his cheek tenderly.
“What?” he chuckled. “I’m not smart at all. You’re the smart one, Miss College.”
“Steve, you met my brother for the first time today, and within two hours, you’ve got him hugging you and sharing his hobbies and passions with you. He shared more with you today than he’s shared with me in his life.”
“Well, sure, he’s an easy guy to read,” Steve shrugged.
“No, he’s not. Baby, you’re incredibly emotionally intelligent. I can’t remember the last time you didn’t understand how I felt or I had to tell you what I needed. You are amazing at reading people!”
“Well, gosh, thanks!” Steve smiled. “I’m really flattered, thank you for saying that,” he said, kissing your hand.
“Of course, and I’m sorry I haven’t said it before,” you replied. “You’re the best.”
Steve tapped the wheel a bit and smiled to himself. At a stoplight, he turned to you suddenly with an incredulous smile.
“You really think I’m smart?”
“Brilliant.”
Steve smiled to himself and continued driving. He laughed to himself a couple times, clearly feeling very giddy.
“You know, you should tell Keith you think I’m smart. I always tell him I deserve a promotion because I can just look at someone and know what movie they’d like. If he heard it from you, he’d believe you.”
“Next time I’m there, I’ll definitely tell him, but don’t waste all your time on dinguses like him,” you smirked.
“Yeah, I’m too smart for him,” Steve said triumphantly. “But you should also tell Henderson. Knock him down a level, let him know he’s not always the smarter one.”
“I will be sure to tell him,” you smiled, then leaned over to kiss Steve’s cheek. “I love you, my genius.”
“I love you too.”
