Actual real things about the plot of 90's Brazilian children's show Castelo Rá-Tim-Bum
The main character was a 400-year-old boy wizard who lived with his aunt and uncle in a giant-ass castle in the middle of a big city that no one in the city knew about
He lived with his aunt and uncle because his parents and sister were on a trip to Mars and he didn't want to go
The castle was secret but there was a pizza guy who'd pop in once in a while (maybe he worked for a company that delivered pizza to the supernatural?).
There was a kid who lived inside a tv and that was treated as completely normal.
In the first episode he lured the three other protagonists to the castle by making their ball float to the castle entrance (he was bored and wanted friends).
The castle's librarian was a talking orange cat.
There was an alien named Etevaldo who would sometimes pop in for a visit.
There was a random tree in the middle of the castle's foyer where some birds and a talking pink anaconda lived
The anaconda was called Celeste
There was a little purple monster who lived in the castle sewers called Mau (literally, "Bad") who wanted to be bad and a villain but he was really bad at it
There was no explanation as to what Mau was -- he was just this furry purple thing and everyone just went with it
Mau had a rat henchman named Godofredo (Godfrey) who had anxiety problems
The castle had a mouse who drove a mouse-shaped car and everyone was like "Yeah, that's normal, be careful so you don't step on it"
The villain was Doutor Abobrinha (literally, "Doctor Pumpkin"; abobrinha is also slang for "lies", implying he was a liar), who was a realtor who wanted to tear the castle down to gentrify the neighbourhood
The realtor looked like this:

Hiiii! First of all i love your posts and even though i have been on tumblr for years this is the first time i am writing to someone so i'm nervous and apologies for not praising you enough :') i don't know if requests are open right now, you can ignore my request completely too! I was wondering if you could write omega konig or omega thomas shelby. If you don't like it, ignore it completely like I said. Stay healthy! 🎔
Ômega König
Obrigada pelo o elogio❤️😉, vou postar rapidinho o do Thomas.
Tumblr media

Project: Blue Box - The Stones of Venice
Tumblr media
This review contains SPOILERS.
◆ Summary
Venice, 2294, a city on its last day of life - about to be completely flooded. Packed with parties, infested with cultists, and cursed until its last breath, Venice becomes the scene of conspiracies and intrigue - and now Charley and the Doctor must race against time, or they too will die with the city.
◆ Doutor
He is characterized as the hopeless romantic that I adore - always dethroning tyrants. But there are some indications of the character's internal turmoil - he still hasn't told Charley that she can never return home. There's a dialogue between the two that I really like in which she questions how time passes for him - she's from the 1930s, the old Venice for her is as if it came straight out of a Verne book. Primitive. But what is the Doctor's place in time, when does he come from? He doesn't even know anymore.
He abhors the idea that Charley could get hurt because of him, but he also doesn't even notice that she suddenly disappeared because he was completely distracted by the city. He has no shame in desecrating a tomb, he never joined a cult because there are too many rules. He says he's from a place not unlike Venice, which is oddly an amazing description of Gallifrey. There's a wonderful dialogue between him and Churchwell about why he ventures into the world and is so nosy: “Because if I didn’t, everything would just go on the same. This whole situation with everything just sinking into the water and you lot giving in, it’s the perfect metaphor. I can’t bear it. You you have to struggle, you have to make it better. There’s corruption here, there’s a whiff of something wrong.”
◆ Charley
Charley makes an effort not to sound so stuck up and posh but this is still noticeable about her, especially in the first stories. She is still a little innocent, trusting too much complete strangers - honestly, what happens to her here is traumatic (she is drugged and partly loses control over her own body) but I think it goes unnoticed because much worse traumas awaits for her. Poor thing. She's a much better person than me because I wouldn't help Pietro.
Charley is overall very smart here. She crosses several parts of Venice without the Doctor's company and, despite the hardships, manages to take care of herself well on her own. There's a really good scene for her in the fourth part when she confronts the count about his role in the fall of Venice.
◆ Other characters
Every singlecharacter is necessary to put together this puzzle of the political and social situation in Venice. The text uses them to show different aspects of the city and how different social groups relate to it. Extremely personal connection between a person and the land that has been theirs their entire life; something I go into more detail in the next topic.
But I love them all. Pietro shows the side of fishmen, amphibians, whatever you want to call them. The gondoliers of Venice, the lowest class in the city - but who spent so much time in the water that their bodies were transformed. They more than anyone else have a symbiotic relationship with Venice. This manifests itself in their body. There's Mrs. Lavish, who brings a much more cynical approach to the residents' connection to the land. Curator Churchwell, the only person who seems to be concerned about preserving local history; count Orsino, the central political figure of the story - completely overcome with remorse after more than a hundred miserable years of life and yet horribly selfish. Vicenzo, the cult leader who serves as a representative of all the orders and the superstitions and beliefs that have taken over the city in recent decades. And, of course, Stella, always present. At the same time a curse on all the characters and their only hope. Including to Venice itself.
◆ Golden ideas and memorable quotes
The Stones of Venice opens with the Doctor and Charley at the end of an adventure, which I always like. It helps to build the idea that the characters' lives are bigger than just what we see.
What I like most is the background, the scenario. Venice, 2294. The city is about to be destroyed, completely flooded. Thousands of visitors from all over the world gathered to see its fall. What makes someone go to a place that is about to fall apart? I think the answer is obvious: for the spectacle. I imagine the end of Venice in my head and it's beautiful; water falling everywhere and crashing the buildings in its way as if washing the land. The “fishmen” in the water, ready to take back the city, now all theirs. Even at its end, Venice is still full of life.
I also love Mrs. Lavish's response when Eighth asks the same question. It says a lot about each person’s relationships with the city, with the land and with their own roots: “There’ll be nothing here soon. It’ll turn back into the lagoon it once was.” “I can hardly wait. I’ll get some peace. I’ll find myself some opulent ballroom, and watch the chandeliers grow extravagant beards of lichen and weed, and the monstrous fish take up residence in the sepuchral boudoirs of ancient princesses.” And this changes from character to character, bringing the script to life. The city that Magrs builds here is alive, inhabited by people made flesh and blood. Pietro (and the other fishmen) look at the fall of Venice in mourning. “Mmm, everyone knows what’s happening to our city. That’s why they come here, the revellers. They take the city from us. They don’t respect us. I like you, Charley, for that fact alone. The city belongs to us, and you share our mourning. And your friend, he seems very moved.” The curator of duke Orsino's paintings, Churchwell, plans to die with the paintings in the flood, now that there is no apparent way to save them.
Venice was taken over by cultists. Especially those who worship Stella, an ancient lady of Venice who supposedly cursed the city and the duke on the day of her death. They want to bring Stella back to life. Venice's political conflicts create this scenario that seems medieval and futuristic at the same time and this is enchantingly magical. The local topography changes all the time as the water rises and falls. Seriously, I love what Magrs does with the city.
The scene in the middle of part three when all the characters gather at the palace came straight out of a soap opera and I love it - all the characters' are together, fighting, after all the seeds this story planted for them in the previous parts. And I also love the coffin opening scene.
I really like the twist but in retrospect it's a bit obvious given that the only other female character in the story is Mrs Lavish. It gives a really cool explanation for the state of Venice and the duke's life, as well as explaining some points in the script (like the paintings). Everything ends up nicely tied up. And it draws a really cool parallel between the Doctor and Stella. What I don't like is the Duke's ending - he doesn't get any redemption, but still in his final moments he gets some mercy that he didn't really deserve. I completely understand why Magrs wrote the ending like that, it's quite poetic - I admit I just wanted him to get screwed.
And I adore the final scene. Charley talking about love, about time. The Doctor saying she is his best friend. I'll leave it here, too:
[CHARLEY] Oh, don’t go all sheepish, Doctor, you know it was. Don’t you think it’s fantastic? A love affair that could lay waste to a whole city? [DOCTOR] Yeah. Sounds a little inconvenient to me. [CHARLEY] They still loved each other in the end, after everything. They knew they had to die together, right at the bitter end. [PIETRO] A hundred years of waiting. I can’t imagine it. [DOCTOR] It isn’t that long. [CHARLEY] Oh, here we go. The mysterious Doctor holds forth again about the nature of Time. Get punting, Doctor. [DOCTOR] It, it, it isn’t that long, really, a hundred years of solitude. [CHARLEY] Well, it would be for me. It would be for anyone if they had to wait that long for someone to return. I hope you’d never abandon me like that, Doctor. [DOCTOR] Abandon you? No, and I wouldn’t lose you in a game of cards either. Of course not.  You’re my best friend.
◆ Sound effects
I love the sound effects in this story. It's all wet, you can hear something hitting the water and it splashing, gondolas and little boats moving along the canals. I love the scene where the fishmen rise from the water and attack the cultists' boat that the Eighth and Churchwell are on. There is almost always dozens of characters in the background, talking, drinking, dancing, celebrating. Music playing on the piano. It's beautiful.
◆ Replay factor
I can't get tired of this one. It's the second time I've listened to it and I loved revisiting this Venice as if it were the first time. For flashforward, there are some subtle hints - that the Doctor has less pleasant sides hidden behind his friendly smile and romantic spirit and you already have some winks at Charley to fall in love with him. It's nothing in the script itself but in India Fisher's performance, the way Charley talks about the Doctor and their travels.
◆ The Veredict
A incredible story built upon its characters - including the city itself. It's a narrative that is vivid in my imagination like few others, I can visualize it perfectly in my head - and it's all beautiful, magical. Practically a fairy tale with a hint of a soap opera, the Doctor and Charley emerge as even stronger characters than they were before. It is also one of the releases that most captures the magic of Eighth's early years at Big Finish, that wonder for the world and an uncontrollable romantic spirit. I used to give it four stars because I thought that how much I loved this story blinded me to some of its flaws. Now, listening again, not really. I love The Stones of Venice and it's deserved.
◆ It's a classic, ★★★★★

Eu tenho amigos e nenhum deles(bem a maioria) nunca me tratou mau.
Ainda sim eu nao sinto nada.
Parece uma amizade artficial embora essas pessoas nunca tenham feito algo pra me prejudicar.

— Pretty, right? — Queria dizer "You're so pretty, gorgeous, even", mas não teve a cara de pau para isso. — This museum is one of the nicest places I know, so everything gets pretty here. These are pretty too. — Hm, do you like these kind of insects?
— Well, my name is Willow, but you can call me Will. I helped editing the book, and I don't know much about fossils, but I'd like to learn. — Most of the people are trying to tell me about their own thesis and books, but I really liked the story about these little guys. I think there's more around here, but I should also let you be free to enjoy the party.
— Wah, you're cool. — Ela disse, e isso recebeu uma negativa. — I'm telling you, you're cool by my point of view. I feel like if in exchange I'd tell you about the poor Creature in Frankenstein, you wouldn't mind and actually find it nice. — Is it too cliché? Oh, my classmates would make so much fun of me right now. — Well, I think I have to go back, but if you do want to talk about more little guys in amber or big guys who are trying their best, please, tell me, you know where to find me.

[ absolutely nothing paralyzes me quite like in-game Miu finding an album of her polaroids she took pre-game, of her, naked, dancing, wearing dresses, roller skating, hands, hands holding, her boyfriend depending on the verse, and realizing she was a different person.
This guy who now they didn't remember this intimacy that they once shared openly, the love letters that she found from him in this book. The absolutely crushing feeling of being unable to show it to him because of how she acts, and also this killing game surrounding them, pinned against one another.
Until she dies. and detective work leads to her room where this book laying out her life before this and every little note, every corner of this love is shown in front of everyone.
and Miu cannot defend herself. Like always. ]

I love that the villain in the 90's Brazilian children's show Castelo Rá-Tim-Bum was a sleazy realtor who wanted to gentrify the neighbourhood.
And the realtor looked like this:
Tumblr media
And his name was Doutor Abobrinha, which literally translates as "Doctor Pumpkin". (In Brazil "abobrinha" is slang for "lie", so it was a name implying he was a liar and not to be trusted.)

NEW Niigata Station Grand Opening!
Today, April 25th, was the official Niigata station grand opening! With only a small section of the station left to finish, almost all of the shops in Niigata station are now open to the public just in time for Golden Week. So, let’s take a look at what’s new and what’s left to come.
Tumblr media
Bar-Ramen Yokocho (Alley) (2F East Side)
The east side 2nd floor mostly opened in March, but at the time they were still working on the Bar-Ramen Yokocho dining area. Now, the dining area is ready to show off Niigata Izakaya and ramen culture during both the day and night. One side of the U-shaped dining area features bars and izakaya, including a Thai restaurant and a Korean restaurant, while the other side highlights Niigata ramen like Ittoya Ramen. There’s even a kushikatsu place on the bar side that not only uses Niigata rice flour panko, but also fries Niigata specialty foods like tarekatsu (pork cutlet with sauce) and even sasadango (mochi and red bean paste).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nishi Deli Street (West Deli Street) (2F West Side)
If you haven’t gotten your fill of Niigata foods at Yokocho Bar and Ramen, then you can head to the west side of the 2nd floor for even more food. Nishi Deli Street, or West Deli Street, is an eating and drinking zone where people can experience “Niigata-ness,” according to the Cocolo website. This area also features stores with Niigata foods including Tonkatsu Taro, also in Furumachi, and an onigiri shop which will open at 7am when some of the first trains start running. There’s also an udon restaurant and taiyaki stand, too.

Cocolo Mart (1F East Side)
From vegetables to meat to fish and more, the 1st floor east side now has a variety of grocery stores, including some familiar ones. Along with the 2nd floor stores, this will add even more grocery options to a place where they have been lacking for the last three years. One new store, Niigata Kaisenka (Seafood Store), is actually a familiar store by a different name. Kenko Shijou (Healthy Market) has been near the station for many years, and it will now sell its fish and other products at the station under this new name. Another somewhat familiar store is Meidi-ya, which had a shop in Furumachi 19 years ago and has now returned to Niigata in the station. It’s famous for its wide foreign food selection and its “My Jam” collection.
But groceries aren’t all this section has. There are also restaurants ranging from cafes like Sanmaruku Cafe and Mister Donut to a Korean food stand and even a Niigata sushi restaurant.

Cocolo 1F West Side- Fashion and Cosmetics
The biggest section that opened is Cocolo 1F West Side. While it doesn’t have a fancy name like some other sections, it does makeup almost half of the newly opened space. This section is geared toward fashion and cosmetics with stores like Maker’s Shirt, Usagi Online Store, and Fruits Gathering. However, there is also a furniture store, Unico, and three places for sweet treats: Lindt store (formerly near Bandai City), Godiva Dessert (first Godiva crepe store in Japan), and Gong Cha (first of this popular bubble tea chain in Niigata). There’s even a Doutor that sells not only coffee but also alcohol!

This section also includes the Gatarium, an open space for holding events (and where many opening events will be happening). While a few stores in this area along with the station’s new Lawson and Ekinan Kitchen (South Station Kitchen) are set to open in May, there’s still plenty to explore now.

The Niigata station grand opening comes after years of construction. There are many new places to check out and even a few more to come as they keep working on Ekinan Kitchen and more. For this weekend, though, they have planned some opening events, starting with the grand opening ceremony this morning. There will be a talk with Reina Triendl on Saturday (4/27) from 1:30-2:00 and Negicco on Monday (4/29) around the same time with a small live show afterward. Additionally, on Sunday, the station will feature several craft workshops from 11:00-3:00. Make sure you don’t miss out on these events and take the chance to explore the brand-new station.
