HIIII Y'ALL!!!!!!! this is honestly very insane to me but i recently hit 1k on here, so i just wanted to say thank you all for being here and joining me on this fun ride over the past two years since i made this blog. i feel like i've joined the hsmtmts/specifically rina fandom three separate ways/times and i've always been able to easily find my niche of people, which really speaks to how open and wonderful this community as a whole is. this third time around was no exception, this little subsection of some of the nicest, funniest, smartest, most talented, most supportive people ever means the world to me, so thank you all for following and partaking in all of the fun that was this rollercoaster of a show, and thank you for supporting my relentless content creation bc i am most definitely not stopping anytime soon skdjfks 😭 this milestone perfectly coincided with the show's ending since i hit it on the day of s4's release, so i thought it would be fun to celebrate both my little milestone & the ending of our beloved show (and our many major wins) with you all, the lovely people that have made this time with the show as wonderful as it was! this show, these characters, and you all hold a very special place in my heart, so. let's celebrate it all!!

Apollo:

Favorite thing about them: I know it kind of applies to all the MCs, but he is sooo... cringefail. And I love that about him. Like idk he's just so sweaty and vaguely unwell all the time and I think it's charming that he's constantly convincing himself he's Totally Cool Totally Fine Just Absolutely Fine. I also like that he can't help but be kinda mean. Not that he is a mean character, just that he has the most shit-tier filter when it comes to talking to people. I love how often he says shit he shouldn't to people, it's funny as hell to me. I love him Least favorite thing about them: He's really boring until Spirit of Justice. At least to me personally. He's like cardboard in AJ, and I don't... care about his arc at all in DD lol. Spirit of Justice may have slapped another backstory onto this bitch, and while it's silly, I think it works the best because now at least we have SOME understanding of his background. And I like his dynamics with the Khura'in crew a lot. Favorite line: idk... I don't really pay mind to people's lines. But the bit in Turnabout for Tomorrow where he says he finally trusts Athena is fun. I also like that bit in 6-5: "If you committed a crime, you'd better be ready to do the time. Be you a priest, a saint, a queen or a god." That goes pretty hard. Like bro he fucking rules during Turnabout Revolution it's crazy, he's the star of that trial for sure. The star he should've been in this trilogy all along. brOTP: Him and Athena are iconic together. I like him and Trucy for sure, but Athena really brings out some great stuff in his personality. They are so damn funny together, and you really get the impression they care about each other a lot despite the constant teasing and the rivalry. OTP: I generally don't ship Apollo with anyone because I headcanon him as aroace, but if I was going to pick a ship, I like Justicykes, I admit. I think it could be a cute ship and they already have a terrific dynamic together. But yeah. nOTP: Since I already said Nahyuta/Apollo when I did Yuty's, I guess barring ships like him and Trucy which are a given for me, I don't really care for Klavier/Apollo because I feel they have no chemistry. Like. At all. Like for anything KRKJFN The writing between them in AA4 is so Nothing to me, so idk, I just don't see it. It's not a bad ship and I understand why people like it, but it didn't click with me-- but it probably also didn't click because I don't particularly like Klavier to begin with. I don't think he's very interesting. Random headcanon: Uhhh idk! Let's see... I do headcanon Apollo as a trans man, and since I also headcanon Yuty as trans, I guess like... I like the idea of them playing games as boys when they were kids because they don't have the language or knowledge to understand why neither of them are particularly happy with being viewed as girls, so it was a little secret thing that they encouraged for each other because it made them happy. They understood when no one else did. And then they reunite 15 years later, see the other has transitioned, and thinks, "That explains a lot" lol. Unpopular opinion: His SOJ backstory is stupid as fuck but I actually also think it's great and the best thing they've done with his backstory so far, especially since they have continued to not tell Apollo and Trucy that they're siblings (though yes, I know, the ending of SOJ implies Thalassa and Phoenix are finally going to tell them). It's the first time I had a good grasp on his background, and I think his dynamic with Dhurke, Nahyuta, and Datz is legit great. Song I associate with them: I don't think I've ever thought about it. Everything is Fine by Qbomb could be good for him, but it's also very intense, probably too much even for him. But I'll go with that. Favorite picture of them: I love his grin, it's adorable

Athena:

Favorite thing about them: Her personality!!! I love how bombastic she is, I love how much emotion they put into her animations and everything. I love how much she cares about people, she's so ride or die and hardworking even when people underestimate her or look down on her. It makes her a really endearing character. I worried if I'd like her when I first started DD, but she's honestly awesome. She's my favorite protag from the new trilogy, though Apollo is not very far behind. Least favorite thing about them: I wish she wasn't so young sometimes. Like I find it weird that the newer games veer so much towards people becoming lawyers fresh out of high school, and even for someone as smart as her, I'm just like... you can't make her 20 at least or something? And I feel like the only reason she's even 18 in DD is because the assistant characters have to be a teen girl. Like. Yknow lol.

I also thought it was kind of annoying how 6-4 kept pushing her being a kid when basically nobody ever talked to her like that before. It felt like they just needed more conflict so threw in suddenly everyone being like "she's just a little BABY GIRL who doesn't KNOW NOTHIN" and I thought it was a touch lame. But not too intrusive, really. At least someone started recognizing she's young as hell, lol. Favorite line: Everything she says is iconic. How am I supposed to pick. Yeah I honestly don't know lol brOTP: Her and Simon are legendary together. Their dynamic is so fuckin funny and endearing to me. It's one of the highlights of DD and the highlight of Turnabout Storyteller. I never knew her and Blackquill were connected before I played DD, albeit I basically never saw anything new trilogy content so it surprised me, but I love them. The siblings of all time OTP: Justicykes, I guess? idk. I don't really ship for her. I'm not even certain what my headcanons for her sexuality are to begin with. I could see her as a lesbian, but I could see her as pan, but I could see her as aro, so on. Her and Juniper is cute too, I just feel like their dynamic isn't fleshed out enough, but that's kinda par for the course in DD. But I can vibe with it. nOTP: Her and Blackquill romantically. Like sorry, but you have fundamentally misunderstood their dynamic. I feel strongly about that. I can't explain it, but it really feels like it misses the point of their dynamic and what makes the dynamic great, but idk. Also it's just Weird for a lot of reasons. Random headcanon: (guy who makes every character he likes trans voice) I Think She's Trans. Also love her being taller than Apollo, I'll go with that hc like the rest of us. Unpopular opinion: I dunno. I think she's a mixed bag to a lot of people because of how DD pivoted so aggressviely away from AA4's vision and direction, which makes it tough for me to determine what an unpopular opinion with her would be, beyond that, like, she really needs her own game. I'd say DD is her game, but we need one where she's in the driver's seat and leading the story on her own. I don't want to see Phoenix or Apollo helping her anymore I'm sick of it KRKF

favorite thing about them: I love how the killing game actually affected her in ways you don't usually see in horror. How she genuinely rises to a challenge but still suffers consequences in the most human way possible. I'm a big fan of this genre but I've never seen a protagonist so relatable before in how she deals with things and ajsnsksvskskgsjb you need to play this game people

least favorite thing about them: the fact that there are so many adults in this godforsaken killing game and yet Sara, a 17 year old, is forced to lead them all to avoid being murdered. Then there's Keiji's scheming ass who knows damn well this is a child yet is still acting like putting her through the anguish of responsibility for so many people is something to be proud of. Also you're a police officer?????? Shouldn't you be leading things if you insist on talking about it so much?????? I'm sorry I hate cops and Keiji is NOT an exception

unpopular opinion: I've had some people really not like the fact I don't ship Joe and Sara. I think Joe telling Sara he loves her on his deathbed meant quite a lot through a platonic lens. As Joe said, it's difficult for a guy and girl to say things like that without people thinking certain things. Which makes it even more of a tender moment as he realised it was literally do die.

favorite thing about them: oh my god hi where does one start. the love of my life. UM. this is going to be a comparatively superficial answer but he's so fucking powerful. why is he so powerful. it was INSANE of kishimoto to just throw this guy into the series where the ONLY way he could be taken down was with a jutsu that SEVERED HIS ENTIRE CHAKRA NETWORK IN A SINGLE BLOW. he rips people's still beating hearts out of their rib cages with his Bare Hand because somehow he can turn his entire body into the hardest material on earth. he beat people up with a briefcase. he doesn't have a skeleton he's made of living spaghetti. he spent half of the two fights he was in just strangling people looking downright bored. my favorite thing about him is everything about him but this is what i'm talking about today. also he's hot send tweet.

least favorite thing about them: no there isn't one. my least favorite thing about him is how he was treated in the story. my least favorite thing is that he WAS that powerful and they killed him in a 16 episode arc. my least favorite thing is he fought the first god damn hokage and we don't ever get to hear about it.

brOTP: yeah so deidara, it's strange that the akatsuki hardly ever talk to each other outside of meetings and their partners BUT it's canon that kakuzu had to reattach deidara's arms. i imagine they had to talk about something, find the time and place to meet. and i think it pisses hidan off because i KNOW he was with them and they were probably both ganging up on him. kakuzu was like 'finally someone i can be bitchy with' and deidara was like 'finally someone who's not just bitchy to me !'

OTP: look. kakuhida changed my life for the worse probably. kakuzu being notorious for killing his partners, assigned a partner he Can't Kill and yet how often does he try? instead he puts him back together, warns him to watch his back. he does like everything hidan asks him to "stay out of the fight" and he does, even if it's just to prove a point "come help" and he does. this otherwise cruel and relentless man, being so uncharacteristically Caring towards the most annoying man in the world. cept that it's not uncharacteristic at all, cause he does it all the time

nOTP: wow don't see a lot of kakuzu ships. hashirama is common but i wouldn't say it's a notp. just. why waste you time on that guy. saw him with tenten one, thought that was fucked up. i don't think him and deidara make sense if not platonically but i guess i've seen it a couple times too.... not a lot of kakuzu ships out there. tumblr's gonna take this as a sign to recommend me the most rancid kakuzu ships i can tell. maybe i'll have an update in a couple weeks.

random headcanon: he Definitely has lots of medical knowledge. and i didn't mention it in hidan's post but i think they both do. but with kakuzu basically being a frankenstein experiment, having knowledge about the vascular system makes sense. and the fact that he's regularly reattaching body parts he has to know SOMETHING past the basics

6: Which Batcher would you want to be your coworker at your irl job?

I am unfortunately unemployed,, lmao. Technically a full-time student and a housemaid so if we're going off that then I would say I'd want Echo to be my 'coworker' because I think he'd be more than willing to give a helping hand (or scomp, lol) when and if I should need it. But if we're talking like what I hope to be doing in the future which is whatever thing that has to do with screenwriting, teaching, or creative writing; I'm going with Tech. I think Tech and I would get along very well because we're both on the spectrum and we could just like parallel play and be cool with just that.

20: Which Batcher has the 'weirdest' taste in music?

Unrelated note, Echo is a k-pop fan and I'll die on this hill (and he's a Broadway fan). I think the person who has the 'weirdest' taste in music is probably Tech and I say 'weirdest' in the sense that he will listen to whatever genre. He simply does not care. You shuffle his liked songs and you feel like you're having a stroke. It's a mix of old dad rock that Hunter and Wrecker enjoy, it's the punk and emo shit Crosshair listens to, there's some old/first-gen K-pop in there, he listens to Los Panchos and Vicente Fernández. County? Sure, why not? He's a big fan of Beyoncé. He knows all the words to Rap God. He listens to Broadway songs and game OSTs. Omega makes him listen to those fan songs of video games. Catch him crying and listening to Mitski at 3 am in the morning. I could go on and on.

30: Tell me a random headcannon you have about Omega.

A random headcanon I have about Omega is that she has a good night routine. Like the book "Goodnight Moon" before she hits the hay she says goodnight to anything and everything. Of course she starts out with her brothers–"Good night Hunter. Good night Echo. Good night Tech. Good night Wrecker."–Then she goes on her personal items and Gonky–"Good night Lula. Good night trooper. Good night Gonky."–Then the ship and surrounding things–"Good night Marauder. Good night stars. Good night planets."–and then when everything is said and done and everything is silent she'll stare out into space and whisper, "Good night Crosshair."

38: What color do you associate with each Batcher?

Ooh, this is a fun one! Honestly, my answers are super basic, but eh. For Hunter, it's red, mainly because he's the squad leader and one of the main colors of the squad is red so automatically he gets that. While he does look good in teal, I think red's his color. For Echo it's a deep blue, mainly because of his time spent with the 501st but also because it's a calming color and Echo is just someone you'd want to be around to feel calm and safe. For Wrecker it's yellow; the color I associate with any positive/bubbly character for obvious reasons, but also it's my sister's favorite color and she's the sweetest person ever so I think it's a fitting color. It's a warm color and I'm sure he gives warm hugs <3 For Tech it's oranges/browns. Typically I tend to associate purple with 'smart' characters because of Donatello from TMNT, but orange/brown is just a more fitting color for Tech and I can't really describe why. Maybe it's the s2 armor? For Crosshair it's green because of his Imperial armor and I guess also because it symbolizes growth? In a sense? Also it's not one of my favorite colors, lol. For Omega, I associate her with teal colors. Something like the ones on her outfit from S1 but also because I love her so much and teal is my favorite color as well.

this was originally going to be a celebration for my 22nd birthday, but y'all instead decided to follow me and my chaos, and now it's an 800 follower celebration instead. a couple of these i did steal from sav's 1k celebration, but in my defence they were very good ideas and i adore her

favorite thing about them: For Yuma! I,, fucking love that this kid is kind of a loser. LIKE FOR A YUGIOH PROTAG THATS SUCH A COOL THING TO SEE it helps play up this idea that you can grow and get better at dueling and that anyone can be a great duelist if they work at it! Let us see our protagonist lose sometimes!!! It's a good thing!!!! He's just such a believable middle schooler to me. For Astral! I love just how deadpan he is, I've always loved "alien/nonhuman entity comes to earth and has to learn earth things" and Astral's just so great with that. He's so FUNNY. I love watching him learn about the power of friendship it rules!!!!

least favorite thing about them: im going to be real, I can't actually think of anything really concrete for this for yuma or astral?? I just like 'em. I wasn't expecting to be this into either of them but I've ended up really enjoying their characters!!

favorite line: I can't think of one for Astral off the top of my head but I'm very excited to see if anything in the zexal 2 dub goes as hard as Yuma yelling at Vetrix and telling him "you think they [the Arclight brothers] owed you their lives because they're your kids, but youre wrong!" because jesus FUCK i still think about that.

brOTP: each other of course!!!! Not particularly engaged with them in a romantic context (as i said when I talked about Trey, in general I just don't particularly care much about shipping younger teen characters) but platonic soulmates let's fuckin GOOOO!!!!! I do also in general love Yuma's little friend gaggle it feels like such a middle school weirdkid friend group ;___;

OTP: See above. sidenote idk who people even ship Astral with otherwise?!?!? Dark Mist maybe??? sure alright

nOTP: Not a fan of Kite/Yuma. Yuma is 13. Be normal please.

random headcanon: For Yuma, I think he would be really good at running cross country (didn't his sub VA outrun a horse once?? yeah.) For Astral, I think he would really like ASMR. Like if Yuma showed him ASMR videos that would be it, he'd be all about it. He'd be listening to them constantly and putting Yuma to sleep in the middle of the afternoon.

unpopular opinion: i love dub yuma to bits this kid is a bouncy little doofus and he's funny and GREAT. I actually dont think I've seen enough Zexal to have an unpopular opinion about Astral? Maybe once I'm more fully done with the series.

my general perception of them

Their dynamic is so amusingly spicy to me. They hate each other, they're stuck together. Zero literally shoved them together because it kept Kaz away from trouble (aka: giving Zero trouble) and he believes in Ocelot more than anyone who isn't Big Boss. Hilarious. They have more in common than the realize yet are so fundamentally different that they create a tornado vortex in one anothers presence. Fight like cats and dogs, will stab each other and it's foreplay half that time.

Do they like each other? Layered. Complicated. Who asks such things please. Do they understand each other? Unnervingly well. This fascinates and bothers both of them. Hot disaster probably doesn't even cover it. Gas on oxygen and water.

an unpopular opinion or, failing that, a fun fact

I don't know if I have an 'unpopular' opinion for a fanon ship, so I'll go with a fun fact. At least for my headcanons anyway. They need each other and work well together, no matter how much of that working together is barbed insults and fighting. In a weird way, they respect each other despite the literal chili peppers on acid dynamic (I just woke up my metaphors suck).

I couldn't beat anyone in a fight if you gave me every advantage known to man. And Ocelot using mind games? I am a human brick, half of his nuances would bounce off me like foam on stone. In person anyway! If I get fifty years to dissect things THEN I start to understand. And Kaz would probably just look at me angrily and I'd cry or something embarrassing like that.
