Lemonada is definitely a smaller podcast network, but they're not nobodies; Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Jennette McCurdy's podcasts are by Lemonada, and they also have Sinead Burke's podcast (she was one of Meghan's 'forces for change' in British Vogue).
The thing about podcasting is that the major podcasting platforms (Spotify, Amazon, iHeart, etc.) acquired hundreds of studios over the last few years. So if the larger companies aren't interested in working with you, smaller networks like Lemonada are your only other option
out of all these people I only know McCurdy
but that's the thing, if the Spotify deal was so damn expensive how is this small company footing the bill?

Restricted growth and the Fashion Industry:
Tumblr media
Models were often chosen in the early days of the fashion business primarily on their social position and connections rather than their height or physique. However, as the business matured and changed, tall models became more popular, with most runway models standing at 5'9" or taller. This fashion trend emerged in the 1940s, when designers began designing garments for taller, more slender models. They reasoned that the garments would hang better on a tall and slim physique, allowing the designs to shine out and exhibit their distinctive qualities. This tendency, however, has excluded a substantial percentage of the population, notably those of lower stature. Many persons under 5'5" have found it challenging to locate clothes that fit properly and highlight their individual style. As a result, there is a paucity of representation for persons of low stature in the fashion business. Despite these obstacles, noteworthy individuals have broken through them and made substantial contributions to the fashion business. Toulouse-Lautrec, a French artist who was barely 4'8" tall, was one of the first to do so. He is well recognised for making classic posters of dancers and performers that had a significant impact on the fashion industry. Sinead Burke is an Irish writer, educator, and disability rights activist who has made important contributions to the fashion business. Burke, who was born with achondroplasia, a kind of dwarfism, has fought for better inclusion and portrayal of persons with disabilities in all parts of society, including the fashion industry. Burke was selected to the Business of Fashion 500 list in 2018, which recognises the most prominent personalities in the fashion business. She has also spoken at TEDx and the World Economic Forum, utilising her platform to push for more industry diversity and inclusiveness. She most recently graced the cover of British Vogue's May 2023 edition! Fortunately, there has been a rising push for inclusion in fashion in recent years, with designers and businesses beginning to produce clothing lines and collections that appeal to individuals of all shapes and sizes. This has created new chances for short-skirted models and designers to show off their own style and ingenuity.
youtube
Chamiah Dewey, a fashion designer who has been leading the way for persons of low stature in the fashion business, is one example of this. Chamiah Dewey Fashion was created with the objective of giving clothing alternatives that fit and flatter shorter individuals. Her clothes include lower hemlines, cropped tops, and streamlined silhouettes. She has also spoken out on the significance of inclusivity in fashion, urging designers to embrace diversity and produce clothing lines that are suitable for individuals of all sizes. Chamiah Dewey is not alone in her attempts to promote fashion inclusiveness. Many designers and manufacturers are now developing clothing lines for a wide range of body types, including individuals with shorter height. This is a significant step forward for the fashion business since it allows a broader range of models and designers to demonstrate their ability and innovation.

Sinead Burke.
Burke is known as an Irish writer, academic and disability activist, hoping to change the world to make it accessible and equal to everyone. When describing her thoughts on diversity in the fashion industry she stated "Through writing, public speaking, lecturing and social media, I highlight the lack of inclusivity within the fashion and design industries and consult with leadership to ensure the process of designing for, with and by disabled people is embedded into their business model. I also critique the ways in which the media talks to women and offer an alternative conversation that celebrates the achievements of others with the ‘Extraordinary Women’"
Her determination and her passion for speaking out about disabled people had brought light to the media with people asking questions such as "why design should include everyone". Due to Sinead speaking out and encouraging change in the industry Burke had then gone onto develop a partnership with Burberry, who has made custom pieces adapted to Burke’s height and redesigned a section in their London headquarters to include railings and lower chairs and table. While making history with Burberry Burke also become the first individual with dwarfism to be on the cover of vogue which had been a dream of hers from a young age.

DIVERSITY in fashion.
Tumblr media
Sinead Burke
Highlighting the lack of inclusivity in the fashion and design industry as most fashion companies only hire the skinniest, 'beauty standard' models to showcase their designs. Burke critiques the way in which the media talks to women and offers an alternative conversation that celebrates that celebrates the achievements of others with the 'extraordinary women.
In 2020, she founded her company 'Tilting the Lens'. she's currently leading a talented team of people to create accessible and equitable solutions through education, advocacy and design. They work with exciting global brands like Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Netflix, Pinterest and Starbucks.

Diversity in Disability
The fashion industry has often overlooked and excluded communities and groups of people. However, in recent years, the topic of diversity and inclusivity has grown and we are now starting to see a variety of people modelling and walking runways.
The first appearance of a disabled model on a catwalk took place in 1999 when Aimee Mullins opened for Alexander McQueen during his London show. She had both of her legs amputated beneath the knee. Alexander McQueen had two wooden prosthetic legs made and designed especially for her for the show.
Tumblr media
In 2019, Sinead Burke, Tilting the lens Founder and CEO, became the first visibly disabled person to star on the cover of British vogue. Fast forward to April 20th 2023, with collaboration from Tilting the Lens, British Vogue launched 'Reframing Fashion'.
Reframing Fashion is a portfolio edition which highlights Disability Justice, accessibility, equity, pride and intersectionality. The may 2023 edition is available in an audio and Braille version making it accessible for all. The edition has five different covers each starring an influential disabled person.

Fashion and diversity

World health Organisation found 15% of people have some kind of disability, this making it the largest minority community. It’s also the only minority community that anyone can potentially become part of at any point in their life.  This making representation so important for this community.
In recent years things have started to change. Social media became a tool through which people with disabilities could finally control the way they were being seen. The current body-positivity movement that has taken over social media and the fashion industry. This whole movement and new attitude towards diversity has encouraged society to see the beauty in all people. As a result, we’re seeing people with disabilities making appearances on the runway, on the cover of magazines, in fashion advertisements and in beauty campaigns.
Adaptive clothing brands are finally gaining mainstream recognition, and each year we are seeing more Disabled models walking the runways. In 2019, Tilting the Lens Founder and CEO Sinéad Burke became the first visibly Disabled person to star on the front cover of British Vogue.

Sinéad Burke was the first little person to be on the cover of vogue. she is a writer who promotes Why design should include everyone. and her work has made it so other little people can start being included in the fashion industry. little people struggle buying clothes they feel comfortable in as not all small size clothing to fit there body’s are accessible or made for an adult. there need to be more awareness on how little people what to get et clothes to fit there needs clothes that are mature and they can feel confident in.
