Uh-
just found out my cousin (who lives in England) is in the art department of a bunch of shows??? And she worked oN DOCTOR WHO? AND HAD LUNCH WITH DAVID TENNANT???? and she just told me so casually because she's interested in the art, not the show? I mean, excuse me? She worked on SHERLOCK???? FOR A WHOLE SEASON?? She worked on Peaky Blinders and Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones??? And probably other things because she has a shitty memory and according to her everything is a blur?? AND AT ONE POINT SHE WAS LIKE: "oh and have you ever heard of Neil Gaiman?" And I was trying not to scream, because yes, of course I've heard of Neil, he's only my favorite author, I've only read like all of his books multiple times, and if you say you worked on Good Omens or the Sandman I'm going to lose it completely. So I said "yeah I've read a couple of his books," -you know, like a liar- "what about him?" and she goes "well I worked on one of his shows and he's brilliant i just can't remember which one" and i go "w-what do you mean he's brilliant? You're.. you're talking about his writing... his writing is brilliant, right?" And she cheerfully says "oh no I don't read books, I ment he was really nice and brilliant when I talked to him" and i go "WHAT DID YOU TALK ABOUT WHAT DID YOU TALK ABOUT" and she thinks for a moment and goes "oh! BRICKS" WHAT IN THE WORLD YES NO THAT MAKES SENSE YOU GET TO WORK AND TALK WITH NEIL FUCKING GAIMAN AND YOU TALK ABOUT BRICKS? NO THAT'S TOTALLY NORMAL I'M NOT MAD ".... it was what I was designing at the time, I needed to know what vibe the bricks should have. Anyway want to see the spinning fireplace I made for doctor who" WHAT THE FUCK.
@neil-gaiman do you remember any brick conversations by any chance

brat tamer!abby who’s got you laid across her lap, your bare ass up for her as she spanks you again and again. your bottom is sore, utterly bruised, but considering what you had pulled on her, it was deserved. “want my sweet girl, but she’s obviously not here,” the cruel words draw out from abby’s lips, and you let out a loud moan as her hand comes down to spank your ass once more. “i am here, mommy! please, m’right here,” you whine, begging helplessly, but you know it’s no use: when abby’s got her mind made up, changing it was impossible. “yeah, s’that right? i don’t fucking buy it, baby. can’t not listen to me and just change up like this. you’re a fucking brat. a bad girl. and bad girls get punished, huh …” abby replied mercilessly. it didn’t matter how needy you were for her. you’d broken a rule, and you wouldn’t get rewarded—not unless you learned your lesson. regardless, unable to help yourself, mind screaming to bark back, you spoke up once more. “i’m not a bad girl. barely feel your spanks, mommy,” you challenge, allowing your eyes to meet abby’s for a split second as you smirk, a playful giggle slipping past your lips. but abby isn’t laughing: in fact, she’s scowling. a hard, heavy hand comes down on your ass, making you squeal in abby’s lap, your eyes shutting closed. “fuck!” you groan annoyedly, even if you knew full well you deserved it. “god, such a bad slut, huh? remember who you’re fucking speaking to, babygirl. because if you don’t?” abby says callously, and as her word comes to an end, she spanks you once again, harder this time. “s’all you’ll get all night. mommy won’t make you cum. i’ll just spank you, over, and over,” she says, hitting your bottom as she enunciates her words. by now, you can’t respond, not verbally, anyway. so, you merely whimper in response, and it’s adorable, because it makes abby chuckle, but it isn’t enough for her. it never is. “cute, baby. but you’re gonna have to give me more if you want me to fuck you. tell me you’re gonna be a good girl. tell me you’re gonna be good for me.” you oblige easily, eagerly, nodding as quickly as your head will go. “please, besogood,” you whine. not enough. “c’mon, babygirl, know you can do better, s’much as i love hearing you whimper for me. c’mon,” abby urges. you give her what she’s asking for, managing a barely coherent, “i’ll be good, mommy,” and abby isn’t shy in smacking your ass again before responding. “attagirl.”

I know it's been said before, but I feel like Katniss gets compared to Lucy Gray a lot because they're both victors from 12 and both women, but its actually Sejanus that she's really similar to. Side note- forgive me if i get a few things wrong, I just saw the new movie and re-watched all the old ones but I haven't read the books in a while.
We see Sejanus thrust into a world he doesn't feel like he belongs to, and we can assume he wasn't a revolutionary until he was directly faced with the horrors of the capital where he became one of the only people willing to speak up. On the other hand, years later, we see Katniss willing to do her own thing and not be involved until the games directly involve her and suddenly she's fighting like hell against the capital specifically, not the other tributes.
The funny thing about them is that the only thing they have going for them, or their cause, is their passion. Neither of them are charismatic, neither of them are particularly likeable or make good impressions. They're brusque, disconnected, determined and absolutely unwilling to play a part, no matter how it may alter the outcome. How other people view them matters very little and they operate on a one track mind. Sejanus made a statement to the game makers and honored a friend when he broke into the arena for Marcus, filled with grief and only half thinking. Katniss did the same when she covered Rue with flowers and when she hanged the dummy of Seneca Crane. Both are calculated but are shortsighted when it comes to their actions. They're sensitive and caring but it's not an immediately obvious character trait, and not something that they're generally known for.
They both just wanted there to be peace, they wanted there to be change, but they didn't want to be the ones to have to do it, unable to handle that kind of weight on their shoulders, and unable to put on an act. Katniss was ready to run from the fight as long as she had the people she loved with her and they were taken care of. Towards the end, all she wanted was for her and Peeta and her family to be safe and away from the fighting. Sejanus tried to help a group of people run away, and tried to run with them, and away from the mess Panem was becoming. He didn't want to be in the middle of it anymore, and as long as he could help a few less fortunate than himself and be away, he was okay. Both of them have break downs on several occasions when their quick actions of what they thought was kindness have consequences they NEVER wanted for anybody (after Katniss speaks in 11 or when Sejanus accidentally gets the rebels in 12 weapons).
Snow was definitely triggered by Katniss because she sang Lucy Gray's song. But he was probably fascinated and enraged by her at the start when she, and her lover boy(artist, performer, lover of people, Lucy Gray) START the games unconventionally -together- and Katniss is passionate, and she's calculated and at the same time so so so impulsive and myopic, and she reminds him of someone. Somebody he betrayed a lifetime ago but that betrayal was his tipping point of NEVER coming back to ANY good he had left in him. And she cries for tributes she knew for a day, and she can't act, even if her life depended on it (and it does), and she lashes out without forethought creating another mess Snow has to clean up, and he can't get a handle of her, and she's a disaster, and all he can think is Sejanus, Sejanus, Sejanus while he tries to control her more and everything spins out farther than he could've imagined.
Sejanus trusted Snow, and Snow outsmarted him, and in the end it was Sejanus's traits he went up against, and he underestimated her and he lost everything for it.
Me and @diamondsunbursts-and-marblehalls have been breaking down all the characters and their connections so thank you to them for helping me flesh this out.

The new episode killed me so now i’m gonna talk about the toxic doomed yuri (Petrigrof)
Okay so the bus scene, omg the bus scene. I’ve seen a few people criticise Simon for not going with Betty, or even considering going with Betty, and while he’s definitely not perfect, that’s not one of the things to criticise him for (stares at the implied professer/student dynamic)
Simon would never have boarded that bus, it’s just now who he is. Simon is calm and collected (pre-iceking ofc), he thinks things out a lot more and doesn’t make those kinds of impulsive decisions like abandoning his current life for 6 whole months on a complete whim. If Betty had maybe mentioned her feelings earlier, and invited him on the trip, I wouldn’t be suprised to see him go on it. But as it was, Simon had only just been presented with the idea that he was even wanted on the trip, and had 0 time to do anything with that. If their roles were reversed, and it was Simons trip, he would have gone and saw Betty again 6 months later.
Meanwhile Betty is much more wild and impulsive, even in her everyday life (as seen when she litterally chucks a can of cherries at simon instead of just handing it to him or having him come get it) her deciding to abandon her trip and stay with Simon is completely within character for her. She makes more decisions that entirely disregard what she wants all for Simons wellbeing, not because he wants her to do that, or is encouraging her to, but because thats who she is!! Her impulsively is only worsened when Simon comes around because now she has someone to throw everything away for! Someone who, for as much as he loves her, is either too dense or too naive to realise that’s what she’s doing! If the roles were reversed, she probably would have boarded that bus with simon, because that’s who she iss!
Simon and Betty were never going to work out well, even without the Mushroom war and Ice King/Golb junk, Betty constantly sacrificing her ambitions for Simon, and Simon never realising thats what she’s doing, was always going to lead them towards an unhealthy relationship, the only reason that never happened was because of all the magic stuff, they just never had enough time together for their unhappy ending to play out like that.
And all that’s not even mentioning their obsession with one another, ep 8 did make it seem almost as if Simon wasn’t as obsessed as Betty was, but he absolutely was, perhaps not at first but he definitely is now. His entire life is in complete shambles without her, if he wanted too Simon could begin his research again and start a new life in ooo, but he can’t because Bettys not there. He’s so hung up on her that even 12 years later he was still trying to bring her back! He loves her just as much she does, they just don’t show it the same way!
(I mentioned Simon not realising that Betty practically throws her whole life away for him, I don’t mean he doesn’t see her impulsive tendencies, he does, and he loves her for them, he just doesn’t realise how damaging they are)
(Not related to my previous points) But also something about that whole flash back seems odd, it feels like the definition of ‘looking at something through rose-tinted glasses’ the question is just whether he was downplaying his own actions, or Bettys. It’s possible we’ll see Bettys POV of how it went down, but honestly I think that would add more confusion to everything, as she also looks back on their relationship through ‘rose-tinted glasses’, so i’d like to see how they show us what really happened.
They make me want to scream, they’re only gonna get sadder next episode and i am not ready

An AU where Steve doesn’t actually suck at basketball, and captains a pretty good team. The week Billy got to Hawkins, Steve was having an off week, okay? But he gets his shit together.
So when Billy joins the actual team instead of playing them during gym class, it’s a whole other game. Harrington runs a tight ship. Every player has to bring their best at every practice. Every meet. Every game. Billy’s still the best player they have, but the court belongs to Steve Harrington. And the team is loyal to him. In the court he runs them haggard, but off the court he’s the team dad. Need a ride? He’s there. Grades are slipping? He’ll find you a tutor. Girlfriend trouble? He’ll bring the beer. We’re all in this together, team.
After he beat the shit out of Steve, Billy’s surprised he made it on the team, but Steve even shook his hand before his first practice, welcomed him in front of the team, bruises all over his face. If Steve’s good player, he’s a better strategist, and his actual talent is keeping everyone in line. Once, when Tommy was still in his jealous snit over Wheeler and throwing fouls everywhere, Steve gave him the mother of all dressing downs in front of the whole team.
“Are we a team or what, Hagan?” Steve said, hands on his hips.
“We’re a team,” Tommy mumbled, eyes cast to the floor.
“Are we a team, WHAT?”
“We’re a team, Captain!”
Billy had to fight down a boner through the rest of practice that day.

Random thought that just popped into my head that deals with Blake so imma hide it
So, even if the Hush is Blake theory turns out not to be true, Blake is still allowing D’deridahn to take over his body.
D'deridahn is the Sovereign over Gravity, and the Sadism demons. Gravity: deals with pulling things closer. Vega was able to manipulate Ivan's emotions into becoming obsessed with Baby 2.0 to keep them closer
I think Blake's yandere tendencies are going to become a lot worse

Every time I read this passage my heart takes an emotional journey on the bumpiest rollercoaster. 😭
I can only imagine the turmoil Harry is experiencing. Not only is he grieving the loss of his Headmaster/Mentor and handling the trauma which came from witnessing his death, but Harry is having to deal with how little he actually knew about Dumbledore. And the guilt which stems from that, as well as the anger.
Harry regrets never taking the time to ask his Professor personal questions, that all they ever really discussed was Harry himself. More specifically the part he had to play in this war.
Here is a young man, who has never really known the love of a parental figure since the day his Mother and Father were murdered.
And when he does allow himself to attach to such figures, they are cruelly snatched away.
He is never really given the time or the proper circumstances to deepen those relationships. And with Harry being a child for 99% of the series, those relationships are sort of one sided.
As it should be really.
As a child we are much too young to worry about our parental figures, in terms of finding out who they are, beyond what they are. It's only as we grow older, that we begin to appreciate them as people and their back stories.
I feel this is what Harry is muddling through in his grief.
Throughout DH, he is bombarded with information about Albus Dumbledore, which quite frankly knocks him for six. He finds out information which he really wishes Albus had told him. Like the fact that they had both lived in Godric's Hollow, both lost loved ones there. This is mind blowing for Harry. They could have bonded over this shared history. Perhaps even have visited one day together.
But Dumbledore chose not to reveal that part of himself. And Harry is hurt, because he doesn't understand why. He had always believed that Dumbledore cared for him. Even during OotP, Harry at his core, still believed Albus cared, and that is why he was so hurt and angry throughout his fifth year. He thought that they shared a special sort of bond. And each time Harry thinks they are getting somewhere, he feels as though Dumbledore takes a step back.
I always feel that had Albus not died that night, he would have been 'forced' to reveal some information to Harry. They had after all gone through a traumatic experience together, and bonded further due to it. And I genuinely think that Albus would have wanted to reveal what he had seen thanks to that potion. He would have felt he owed Harry some answers given what he asked of him that night. But more than that, again, I think he would have wanted to tell Harry. Because he does care. But Albus being who he is, constantly has to walk a fine line. He can only connect with Harry to a certain point. Because Harry is after all, first and foremost, his student. And it would be inappropriate to share too much. But I do think, the night he died, was that first stepping stone on what could have been should he have survived.
But this is what I mean, Harry only knows what he experienced. Harry couldn't see inside Dumbledore's head. All he knew was that Dumbledore kept him at arms length, even though he claimed to care.
So when Harry finds out that Dumbledore had a shaded past, in which he revealed his secrets to Gellert, as a young man himself, Harry is incensed, and even outright jealous. Here was a dark wizard who Dumbledore is known for having defeated, who Albus had revealed his inmost self to after knowing for a few months maximum. I imagine Harry must feel cheated in some regard.
After all, Harry had known and looked up to his Headmaster for six years. He had trusted him implicitly, no questions asked. And yet he didn't hardly know anything about him personally. But Gellert bloody Grindelwald had somehow managed to gain the Holy Grail in a matter of months! If Dumbledore could share with Grindelwald, who turned out to be a dark wizard, then what was wrong with Harry? Why didn't Dumbledore want to share with him? Harry must have felt he meant nothing to his mentor. Which we know isn't true. But it must have been traumatising for a grieving 17 year old boy.
It's only after Harry has spoken to Albus in person, and Albus has at last revealed parts of himself to Harry which he is ashamed of, is Harry able to let go of his anger.
Once he sees that Albus wasn't withholding information about himself because he didn't trust Harry, but rather because he didn't want Harry to think less of him, Harry understands that Albus did and does love him.
And Harry is also now able to say that he loves Albus. Not for being the Headmaster of Hogwarts, or the Greatest Sorcerer of the age, but for being Albus. Because he now knows everything there is to know about the man. Albus Dumbledore is no longer on that pedestal Harry had seated him on. He was finally accessible and attainable. And loved.

looking at ava's "you're no boyfriend material" from an aro perspective:
this is the last thing anyone of the group says to ben, this is the final mic drop
that's - at least how it's framed - the worst insult
at the same time, it says a (good) boyfriend is the best thing you can be, that's what's most important about your character
and whereas it's true that ben probably wouldn't be a good boyfriend, seeing how he treated mailin, that's not what makes him a "bad person"
he was an asshole completely unrelated to romantic relationships
and being a boyfriend (or romantic partner in general) is not everyone's goal
that druck frames being a romantic partner as the most important thing in the world, as what everyone longs to be, is definitely disappointing
the only thing that annoyed me about druck since the og generation, is that the main story was always about love interests, but it was okay because, for many people romantic love is important and i can still enjoy it even though i don't feel it, it was written well and friendship was always pictured as important even when it wasn't the main topic
but now, this season isn't written well, there were many hopes that it would bring some aspec rep, and now they follow a highly allonormative and amatonormative trope which just feels like the exact opposite of what we've hoped for
and amatonormativity isn't only harmful to aro people, nobody needs (or should need) a romantic partner to be happy, there's cool things about being single and if you're unhappy or have problems of whatever sort, having a significant other won't solve that
that druck follows potentionally harmful tropes, that also alienate aro spec people, is not what i would have expected them to do
(and i don't feel like it fits ava's character at all, but they already did ava so bad this season, this is not what surprised me about this scene)

I don’t normally talk about this, but I am so fucking mad about SU Critical and the way people would just destroy any chance of meaningful conversation about Pink Diamond’s character, because guys, it is SO interesting to think about! Pink Diamond can barely be called “Morally Grey.” So much of what she she did was super good or completely awful. But when you think about the awful stuff she did, it still makes sense that she did them. She had her motivations and reasons, and was rarely cruel out of maliciousness.
Putting a “read more” so you dont have to scroll through my rambling.
She grew up as part of a family of space conquerers. She was at the top socially, but at the bottom in terms of her familial hierarchy. She wanted to do what the people she looked up to did, as any one would. And then she got her chance! She got her planet! But then she observed it and realized hey! These little guys are alive! And i really care about them actually!
So she keeps a sanctuary for them! Which of course seems fucked up to us! Because we’re humans! But she isnt! She hasn’t quite figured out that humans and gems are largely on the same level sentience-wise.
But then! She realized that not only does she want to keep a handful of humans to watch. She actively wants to protect the ones on Earth! So she fakes her death! Possibly thinking that her family won’t care enough to retaliate and just leave Earth alone. But when they don’t, she Leads an army to war! Because she wants to change her purpose in life!
And that’s the thing that makes her different from the other diamonds. She WANTS to CHANGE. YES she’s done fucked up shit. YES she hurt others in ways that cannot be undone. But she actively tries to CHANGE that! Did she ever become perfect? No! But she gave up her life to become a part of something completely new! To change herself completely! Pink is Dead!
Not everyone’s path to become a “good person” is simple. Not everyone starts at the same point.
And here’s the thing… The reasons that Pink did everything she did are never treated as excuses! She did shitty things that hurt people, and most of the show is her followers learning to STOP making excuses for her! “Pink did bad things” and “Pink did good things” are two statements that are BOTH TRUE.

“  you make me feel safe.  ”   (from Anakin).
It was fair to say that Obi-Wan did not return the sentiment, for Anakin frequently left him feeling quite the opposite of safe. It only took one too-fast and too-bumpy flight as Anakin’s co-pilot to leave him feeling like he’d survived yet another near-death experience, although he could concede that to some, those experiences would no doubt be considered exhilarating. But despite Anakin’s wildness, Obi-Wan trusted him with his life. And more than that, he trusted Anakin with his heart. There was security to be found in a trust so deep. What did he mean to Anakin? It was something he often wondered, and here was the answer. He represented stability, a safe haven, dependability. He understood well the reason for that need and, smiling, he laid a hand upon Anakin’s shoulder.
“You are safe.”

with st4 vol 2 dropping on friday i wanted to give my death predictions.
most likely: argyle, dmitri, murray
possible: eddie, nancy, steve, dustin, jonathan
maybe???: suzie, owens, brenner
unlikely: robin, will, mike, el, lucas, max, joyce, hopper, erica
unlikely does not mean impossible, but i don’t think they would be cruel enough to kill erica or pull a bury your gays. i wouldn’t be surprised if there was a cliffhanger where u think someone is dead but isn’t, but maybe they don’t wanna pull that twice. i don’t think they would kill hopper or max after them just coming back from the brink of death. and joyce will mike and el are main characters and s5 kinda needs them for a plot.

no matter how often I see it, i'm still startled by the absolute heartlessness from the average person. I know you've seen enough of the reproductive rights posts, but truly it's so scary the "justice" mentality so many have regarding peoples bodies and humanity.
they will say that abortion is unjust, either because babies have an inherent right to live and (for simplicity's sake, I will refer to all the hypothetical pregnant people as "mothers"- I am a trans man myself, I know cis women aren't the only people who can get pregnant, but let's be real, "women" and everyone a cis society deems a "woman" are the main target of this, so bare with me.) the mother has no agency in this- her unborn child is above her, above her social, financial, physical, mental, emotional status- or, in a far more cruel reasoning, a punishment for daring to have sex.
and those who argue the second point will say, "well, that's what she gets for whoring around."
"actually, this was in a committed relationship... not that it should matter."
"well, that's what she gets for having unsafe sex."
"but her contraceptive failed."
"then she shouldnt had had sex."
it's this constant merry go around of "it couldve been avoided if this, this and this"- a bullet point list of all things that always have a chance to go wrong, and these contrarians always have a comeback, but never any sympathy.
and it always ends in the same way; just dont have sex. they make it sound so easy, well, just don't engage in a very intimate activity that you and your partner enjoy. just dont live in a state where the only sex ed is abstinence based. just dont be poor. just dont work as a sex worker. just dont be a victim of rape. just don't be.
it's so insidious, this mindset that childbirth should be a punishment for daring to exist in a way that that society deems disgusting. because they would never tell an upperclass white woman "too bad" for getting impregnated accidentally. it's just everyone else who should suffer: poc, the poor, the disabled, the gay- all of the groups shunned and fucked over by society the most.
but i'm getting off topic a bit. to be honest, I dont have a layout in mind for this post. I just wanted to point out how some sense of justice is not justice at all- and how so many revel in hurting others. those who wish to force financial, emotional, physical, and social burdens onto women in the form of forcing them to have children are the same kind as those who cheer when black children are killed for (allegedly) stealing from a store. they're the same breed of person who snickers when someone gets their lives ruined for being found with drugs.
these people want nothing more than to put down and oppress others they deem under them to feel better about themselves because they are miserable in their own bodies, they hate where they are in life, they know they have amounted to nothing, and so they must make others feel the same way, except these are human lives on the line we are talking about.
an unwanted child becomes an abused one more likely than not. it might not even be intentional. but a lot of stress, be it financial, societal, emotional, physical...it can do a lot to a person. and if someone doesnt have the ability or resources to take care of their child, the child will be the ones to suffer in the end, and the target of your bigotry. and you may say, well, just give the child up to foster care- no. foster care isnt any better. I shouldnt even have to elaborate on that.
I hope one day we can reach a point in society where others actually care about each other, at least enough to not want to literally ruin others lives because you personally believe they made bad life choices, and instead a community who makes it possible for people to choose whether or not they want to have children, and if they do, to help them in any way you can. it takes a village after all.
