Eddie Redmayne’s panache always dazzles, and we suspect he (and Jessica Chastain) won’t disappoint at the world premiere of The Good Nurse at the Toronto International Film Festival. Eddie’s seen here for The Theory of Everything in 2014, The Danish Girl in 2015, and The Aeronauts in 2019 — in Burberry, Lauren, McQueen respectively
"Alfred Hitchcock loved to posit himself as a marionette master, you know? That he was a puppeteer and he would make the audience laugh and cry and jump and be afraid when he wanted them to- that's never been my approach. I've never said, okay, I need the audience to feel this and I'm gonna go get it.
It's quite different. It's like I'm saying this is bothering me, it's disturbing me, it's intriguing me, I don't know why, and the only way I can explore it is to do it. Therefore I'm going on this little voyage and I'm taking the audience along with me, hopefully, but I don't know where it's going and and I'm not sure what I'm going to be feeling and I'm not sure what they will be feeling either.
So I really don't have a pre-defined sort of product, you know? I shouldn't say that, that's that's demeaning. I don't have a destination in mind, emotionally or intellectually, I just- it's always juiciness, you know? How juicy is this? You squeeze it a little bit and it's juicy. You just don't know what's gonna be there but it's gonna be great, and it's gonna be nourishing in some strange way. That's my approach."

RE: Christian Bale as Ken Miles in Ford v. Ferrari (2019), dir. James Mangold
Remembering Eddie Redmayne’s last appearance at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2019 as his latest release, Netflix The Good Nurse, readies its world premiere there next month. Peter Hapak’s dark+brooding images would be most appropriate for this new role as a real-life American serial killer. Jessica Chastain co-stars. (For #mcm)
