Christopher learned to cut out snowflakes with construction paper and craft scissors, and Eddie hung dozens up all around the tiny house wherever his son pointed. Along with ten strands of multicolored lights and a cheap tree from a secondhand store, the house looked straight out of a Hallmark movie.
The Christmas before Shannon died—hilariously, the only Christmas the two of them spent together with their son—was more for her and Christopher than Eddie. Kissing Shannon under a mistletoe was the last thing on his mind.
“That’s sad, man.”

Hi friend :) rewatching Father Of the bob and it made me wonder about the kids' and Big Bob's relationship. Do you got any headcanons and the like about that? (Sorry if you've already talked about it)
I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS ABOUT BIG BOB AND HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE KIDS i have peppered them throughout my posts and fanfics but i will expand on them a bit here >:)
i don't think bob ever went fully no contact with big bob but there was definitely a decade or two where they didn't live together and almost Never spoke except for big bob occasionally calling him to say happy birthday or whatever. when tina was born I think bob realized that he did want his dad to be in his kids lives in some way (yes they had linda's parents as their other set of grandparents but even back then i think bob KNEW they were shitty people and would be bad gransparents) he wanted them to have a good grandpa so he kinda introduced him into the kids lives
big bob was definitely nervous about being around these small and easily influenced humans even if he didn't outwardly express that. tina was the sweetest little baby so getting along w/ her was easy but gene and louise were definitely more stressful. and bcuz big bob was still busy with work he barely ever saw them anyway. but he did TRY to be a good grandpa by sending them birthday & christmas presents and giving them money every time they visited. trying to be a grandpa in the only way he knew how :(
could explore in another post how al and gloria are the WORST grandparents and how it's strongly implied that tina gene and louise don't actually like them (if you compare how they interact with linda's parents vs big bob its clear that they are tolerating al and gloria at most while they genuinely look forward to spending time with big bob and WANT to see him. can't even say it's because of bob influencing them to dislike linda's parents bcuz he openly hates his dad too lmao) but in comparison to them big bob really does correct so many of the mistakes he made w/ bob when it comes to his grandkids (to quote alice talking about gertie "she's a better grandmother than a mother you gotta trust me")
he's physically affectionate with them and he spoils them!!! he actually pays attention to their individual interests (watching gene's music performance and looking at louise's display of burobu cards, and seemingly getting her gifts specifically related to her interest in them for her birthday and christmas) and talks to them. compare that with al and gloria who literally got the kids a regifted book about staying active in retirement for christmas one year (with a whole chapter about sex with Actual pictures and examples which is fucked up) they're literally the worst ugh
and big bob's efforts with the kids seem to pay off bcuz they look forward to spending time with him :) they're always excited and I genuinely think it isn't only because he gives them money when they see him. they just like spending time with him!! "He's a good grandpa" and he bakes them cookies and worries about them and their futures <3 THEY'RE THE REASON HE BELIEVES THAT THE WORLD WILL BE OKAY. HE THINKS THEY'LL BE ABLE TO FIX THINGS?????
anyway some specific headcanons about his dynamics with each of the kids:
he definitely gets along the most easily with tina. they're similar people in the way that bob and tina are similar (except that tina is more positive than either of them lol) and they enjoy doing more lowkey activities together compared to louise or gene. they might enjoy baking cookies or doing puzzles together :) definitely a good thing that she was his first grandchild bcuz she was always kind and quiet and easy to get along with and it made him more confident in his abilities. Whenever he sees a horse themed item at a thrift store or whatever he buys it and gives it to tina the next time she visits!! that's how she got quite a few of her porcelain horses when she was younger (even if maybe decorative porcelain horses were not the best idea ever for a seven year old tina took very good care of them u_u gene and louise not so much. rip)
gene is probably the grandchild that he finds it the hardest to relate to just because they're such DIFFERENT people. gene is so effeminate and unashamed of himself and his emotions which is pretty much the opposite of how big bob was taught to be as a kid and how he raised bob. he never had daughters so its easier for him to relate to tina and louise bcuz they're almost like a blank slate?? he sees so much of what he did wrong with parenting bob when it comes to gene :( But they eventually find some common ground with gene's love of music and performing. big bob will tell gene about his favorite songs and records from when he was younger & he'll listen to all of gene's performances when he visits
louise is the most.... complicated for big bob? she reminds him SO MUCH of lily in everything from her personality to her pink hat. it definitely took him a few years to get over that and begin to see louise as her own person and stop projecting that trauma onto her (not intentionally but its just hard when you lose someone and then suddenly they're There again and they're your grandaughter) luckily louise is easy to love and her bold personality makes herself VERY known. he could not ignore her. he loves how spunky she is and how unashamed she is of herself (all his grandkids really) and he definitely thinks she's gonna grow up to do something great in the world. they don't have that much to bond over tbh he just let's louise take the lead and he does whatever she wants him to do. he just likes spending time with his granddaughter <3
definitely think that the kids have started seeing big bob more since his relationship with bob has been repaired a bit so i can imagine that connection will only grow stronger!!!!

OKAY OKAY I HAVE SO MANY THIRSTY THOTS…expanding on chubby!eddie and also noting that we’re close to the holidays, it’s important to note that while eddie’s favorite holiday is halloween, steve ADORES christmas. he loves to decorate their shared home, go present shopping, and of course make ridiculously indulgent food. it isn’t like he doesn’t do that the rest of the year, but christmas gives him an excuse to try out recipes multiple times. each time he tries something new, he needs his secret taste tester in the kitchen with him (hint: it’s eddie wearing nothing but low waisted pajama pants) to ensure the quality of each dish. thus far, even if he’s offered pointers for improvement, eddie has eaten four variations of pumpkin pie, two different prosciutto wrapped asparagus variants, six variants of peanut butter cookies, and more without complaint. cooking days are fun because at the end, eddie will worship steve in the bedroom, sucking him off before pressing his belly to steve’s back while he slides in and out of him. when the two go christmas shopping, it’s a magical experience to get to indulge not only the others in their lives, but also each other. each obviously gets gifts for the other separately, but while they’re together, they like choosing things out live and in the store. for eddie, steve plucks a set of model paints and figures for dnd and a bat shaped mug from halloween clearance. eddie chooses a new hair mask he knows steve’s been wanting to try and a new robin’s egg blue sweater in a larger size (although not as prominent as eddie, steve had packed on some subtle but noticeable squish, a symptom of his happiness with eddie). these gifts aren’t a surprise, but the couple (notably steve) love any excuse to show their appreciation as possible. they celebrate with everyone on christmas eve. the hopper byers residence fits the whole crew of teens and adults nicely, but admittedly has to add another table when steve comes in with two entrees, four sides, and three desserts PLUS rolls. everything except for the ham and turkey get finished off, everyone there agrees that steve’s food was the best. the teens and eddie have boisterous arguments about dnd while steve and robin catch up with joyce and claudia. the night always ends with watching it’s a wonderful life because it’s surprisingly one of el’s favorites, but steve and eddie usually slip away a bit early to “prepare for the holiday”. in actuality, they head home and have lazy sex before going to sleep. on the actual holiday, the two sleep in until noon and open gifts quietly. they enjoy an episode or two of a show they enjoy, all the while enjoying rich and decadent desserts. at the end of the night, eddie usually ends up tied up using holiday ribbon, the bright red tulle digging into his fat hips. steve fucks him through overstimulation until the two are sobbing and covered in sweat and cum. the boys just like the holidays. lmao sorry for being awol, my semester has been Traumatic and there have been some pretty serious issues happening but i hope you like it slay -🦂

sweet manon!! hi, how are you !! so happy you asked this ueueue i’ve been thinking it over for awhile now >_< only wrote out a few (def more but i didnt want to bore you) and theyre under the cut cuz i rambled a lil, sorry!
- baking / cooking!
every winter we do a lil foodie tradition! trying to bake / cook smth new for every weekend leading up to christmas! it’s usually baking bcs its the holidays but when we’re snowed in pretty heavily its nice to cook up a warm meal together and then sit together on the couch all cozied up w a blanket:3 and and i get to cook up some of my filo dishes for him! in return he cooks japanese food >_< we also do a lot of traditional baked goods too like gingerbread cookies + houses, brownies and cookies!! (not a baked good but hot chocolate is vv present in our house during winter! mostly for me tho cuz sho can’t have too much sugar >_<)
- shopping!
me and sho love to do winter / christmas shopping sprees, usually for winter coats when we visit japan to see his old friends or for gifts! it’s so so romantic when we’re at like an outlet and snow is falling around us while we’re holding our shopping bags while hand in hand w eachother 😖💗 anddd we get to have a lot of fun bonding when out!! our shopping trips can take hourss but shoyo doesn’t mind:3 and we get each other a couple lil early christmas gifts too during them hehe

mostly bcs of my childhood but i love tobogganing in winter and its so fun w sho! we love going to hugee undisturbed hills w fresh snow so we can have fun in peace ^^ and i love when we do it while it’s snowing bcs its just so exhilarating seeing flurries of snowflakes pass us by while barrelling down LMAO one time we were tobogganing and somehow our sled like struck smth but we TUMBLED down like huge snowballs to the bottom and got snow everywhere in our coats, super cold and a lil unpleasant (bcs i rlly dislike feeling cold … ) BUT WE WERE LAUGHING SO MUCH IT OVERPOWERED THAT!! and it gave me an excuse to cuddle him later for warmth hehe

so i'm one of those people that hates christmas with a passion lol how would charles deal with that or would you just have to give up and watch the house get filled floor to ceiling with decorations lmao. because personally as muth as i despise this time of year, i think it would be worth it for the sparkle in his eyes <3🍄
I don’t actually hate Christmas, I just don’t associate it with good things? If that makes sense? But my mother LOVES Christmas and I really enjoy decorating for Christmas purely because she loves it so much. So I very much understand this and it’s so cute.
Firstly, poor Charles would be heartbroken when he realises that you don’t like Christmas? Of course he would always respect your dislike of it, but he’s so heartbroken because he was so looking forward to doing Christmas things with you.
He wanted to decorate the tree with you and go look at Christmas lights and wrap presents and watch Christmas movies!! Charles loves Christmas so much, not just all the pretty lights but how he gets to spend time with those he loves and give people presents and he just…. He was so looking forward to your first Christmas together and it breaks his little heart to hear that you don’t want to do any of that.
But then you realise how heartbroken charles is and all the things he wanted to do and well… maybe you can spare a few hours to look at Christmas lights if it means making Charles smile so wide that his eyes get all crinkly and bright.
Also, Charles would be DETERMINED to make this Christmas good for you. He wants to show you how good it can be, how the two of you can have so much fun baking cookies and decorating and finding gifts. He just wants to have a nice holiday with you so badly.
You’ve never been able to turn Charles down, and of course this is no different.
While you still don’t like Christmas, you can’t deny that spending so much time with Charles and seeing Charles be so excited sounds like so much fun.
In the end you of course allow Charles to decorate for Christmas. Originally you said that you wouldn’t help him do it, but then you walk in and he’s decorating the tree and soft music is playing and he looks so happy and well…. How are you supposed to walk away from that?
You still aren’t very involved in decorating, you more just hand him items and give him kisses but Charles is overjoyed because he thought he wouldn’t get to do this with you.
Though if literally anyone else tries to do something Christmassy with you…. Their body will never be found.

7) What triggers nostalgia for them most often? Do they enjoy that feeling?
I'm not entirely sure actually... He's in a weird position where HE is usually what causes other people to have nostalgia (since irl small world has been around for nearly 60 years!)
I think the only times he really thinks about his own nostalgia, and life in general I guess, is when looks back at photographs of loved ones/places he's been/etc. It's often bittersweet since, in present day, he has outlived some of the humans from his past... But then he finds old photos of when he first met Paris Clockboy and then it's all okay again :-) but yeah just typical stuff like that
9) Do they swear? Do they remember their first swear word?
He doesn't swear usually... He's not like, incapable of swearing but he usually abstains from it since he's around kids a lot (and though he can't speak, the dolls from the ride know ASL and would be like "what does THAT mean?" and/or he doesn't want them to go around unintentionally telling people cusses LMAO)
His first swear was probably damn, which I mean, is barely a swear... It's also the only one he uses semi-regularly
13) What color do they think they look best in? Do they actually look good in that color?
HMM... I mean. He almost exclusively wears all white but I think he also enjoys wearing all red at Christmas time and thinks it makes him look good... And it does........ But I'm biased
26) What is their preferred mode of transportation?
He usually doesn't have anywhere to be! Usually he just walks around the park since that's like... Where he lives I guess, but sometimes he'll ride the trains around. Outside of the park, he still prefers to walk when he can, otherwise he has someone drive him around (not like a personal driver or anything, but he'll ask for rides aha)

D) Have they always had the same physical appearance, or have you had to modify the way they look?
He pretty much has the exact same design since day 1 of me drawing him, really the only thing that changed was his uniform, and that got updated in the second finished drawing (bottom row)
I guess the only real difference is i don't draw his cheek spires anymore but that's mostly a design simplicity thing... He would still have them if he were drawn more realistically :-)
