About Me

Hi. I am TJ. I've attempted a few times to maintain a blog before, but life got in the way, and I got distracted, and ultimately, the blogs floundered. I am making another attempt, though. Mainly, I am making the attempt to allow myself to sort through what is going on in my life. I won't go into too much detail on this entry, but long story short, the secular year 2024 has not exactly been a great year so far. Such is life, though. We all go through our ups and downs. Anyway, since this is the first post of my renewed blog, I suppose I should introduce myself. My name is TJ, I am Jewish, and I live in Australia. I attended secondary school in the US state of Connecticut and university in the US state of North Carolina (UNC Greensboro, where I also played soccer) and in Costa Rica (Monteverde). I've also lived in Hawai'i. Currently, I study Torah through Chabad Zichron Kedoshim, and I work as a technician on the natural gas contract for a Melbourne based engineering firm. I've also got two cats. My hobbies include reading, astronomy, working on cars, surfing, playing chess, playing football (soccer), and video games. I also love sport in general. I've got two cats (Oreo, who is seven years old, and Casper, who is just over a year old).

Anyway, I guess that's the basics. Anything else I will expand upon should it become relevant to a later post. I am going to wrap this up now, I have to go to a jobsite in the north of the state tomorrow, so I have an early day ahead of me. Special shout out to the UConn men's basketball team, though, who have just won back to back national championships.

you hummed as you took your seat at the family and friends section, it was the semi-final match between australia and england.

you were wearing one of alessia’s match worn jerseys, at the same time, you had the colors of the matildas face painted on your face. how could you not support your home country, after all?

you sat by alessia’s mother, carol who pulled you into a tight hug. when she first learned that alessia was dating someone, she was eager to meet the one who stole her daughter’s heart.

“just in time, dear.” the kick off was about to start, you were in line getting a snack, as well as a small glass of beer.

“is less part of the starting line up?” your voice was soft, as you had taken your seat.

“yup, she’s up front.” carol said, she was proud of her daughter and the achievements she made. you looked up front to see alessia, a soft smile made it’s way to your face. she had her game face on, as you chuckled at how cute she looked.

when the kick-off began, you were sitting in your seat analyzing the plays. despite not knowing much about football, you understood the gist of it. the information that alessia would tell you, the offside rule, the var rule and etc.

throughout the whole match, your leg was crossed and you were literally at the edge of your seat, trying not to fall off.

in the first half, ella toone was the first one to make a goal as it was fired across the goal and into the top right corner, making it 0-1. you watched as the fans cheered.

during the half time, you had met fans that supported you through your career. you played fantastically at uconn, also at seattle storm. however, you did get looks from a few football fans, wondering who you were.

not all watched the wnba, but the ones who did knew you were slaying.

“ooooh, kerr with the equalizer.” you said, covering your eyes with your hands but slightly peeking through it.

well done, you hummed. it was a brilliant solo effort, as she ignored fowler who was on the left. the goal was about 25 yards out, if you weren’t mistaken yet it went into the top-left corner.

however, the game quickly game to an end. lauren hemp had scored a goal in the 71st minute, ending the equalizer between the two teams.

you had jumped in joy, when you saw alessia score the winner of the match. just a few minutes before the game had ended, she scored the third point as she fired an angled finish across goal and into the bottom-left corner.

the british fans had cheered, as the australian fans looked devestated. you included, despite wearing an england shirt—you knew how much it meant for the matildas to perhaps win the match.

but there was also expectations, the pressure was too high. you knew as an athlete, you didn’t want to fail.

“go on, then.” carol chuckled, as you looked a bit eager to meet alessia on the sideline. you rushed to the barrier where alessia had pulled you into a hug.

the star striker was quite tall, however you easily towered over her, being 6’2. she wrapped her arms around your waist, as she buried her head in your chest. the black button up coat had covered her face, as you hummed.

she felt your chest vibrate as she pulled away only to give you a toothy grin.

“less, i believe it’s time for you to introduce us.” lotte teased the striker as she flushed a bit red, you chuckled at her reaction before pulling away from her.

“i’m y/n l/n, alessia’s girlfriend.” you introduced, giving her your hand for her to shake, to which she did with a soft smile.

“y/n l/n? as in the australian basketball star?” lucy asked, as you gave her a small nod.

“less!—do you know who you’re dating? she’s considered basketball royalty.” bronze exclaimed as you snickered at her reaction.

“some people say that she’s the best player.” ella teased, as alessia playfully glared at her bestfriend.

“not the best, perhaps one of the best. but it’s always the hard work i put into training.” you commented.

you spent a few minutes literally chatting with the lionesses, the fans were filming the interaction between stars and a (basketball) star. it was a scene, as a few of them had watched your games.

“what the fuck is your problem?”

“no need to get all sensitive babe” paige scoffed. y/n disliking on paige grew more.

the team got back to the parking lot, and bid their goodbyes. y/n was with kk and aubrey inside the car. “hey, you alright?” kk asked y/n. “oh yeah im okay” y/n replied. “we are sorry about paige, she isn’t like that. we’ll look more into this when we can.. just let us know if you’re okay or not y/n” aubrey apologized. “no need to aubrey, it’s fine” y/n thanked the two.

on another car, a similar conversation was going on. “what is on with you paige” azzi asked. “yeah, you are not like that” nika agreed. “it just feels weird when she is there” paige explained. nika and azzi sighed and started to give their own lectures to paige going back to the dorms.

everyone’s car arrived at the same time at the college parking lot, and the team bid their goodbyes.

after a long saturday, y/n was glad that it was sunday, she could have her own time by herself. she first got up out of her bed, and put on casual clothes.

she got out of her dorm, and headed for the nearest cafeteria for a good breakfast meal. she was eating her meal, enjoying, until a blonde figure walks by her. “well well well, its too early for an eye sore” paige said as she walked.

“bitch” y/n whispered, but not quiet enough for paige to not hear it. “nerd” paige snickered back. as if that’s supposed to be a negative comment? y/n thought. the two then continued on with their own activities.

their childish actions to each other didn’t stop, that was only the start of paige and y/n’s nonstop bickerings and “pranks” to each other. after a month, the two grew closer, specifically in the “dislike” aspect. the following are just some of the instances of when y/n and paige were messing around.

1. aubrey asks y/n to bring her basketball shoes to the court. aubrey forgot her shoes, and y/n brought it to her. the team said their hellos, and paige made a mean comment—obviously. “if it isn’t stanford girl, oh wait.. you didn’t get in right?” paige commented. “oh if it isn’t the number one star of wbb.. oh wait? you’re number 2!” y/n replied back.

2. during their study sessions for y/n’s research, y/n saw that paige was struggling with chemistry. “can’t believe student 3.9 gpa can’t do simple molarity problems..” y/n made fun of paige.

3. y/n brings gatorade for the team, but doesn’t give paige.

4. paige hide’s y/n’s wbb files, only to put it back in her bag after 30 minutes. paige just loves seeing y/n pissed.

5. “this is why you will never get a gf!” “you too!”

6. kk was non-formally interviewing the team for the media. when kk asked y/n who on the team would she not let her son/daughter date, y/n answered “paige,” and when kk asked paige who has the best music taste, paige answered “definitely not that researcher who’s always with the team..”

after their endless interactions, the whole team at that point didn’t know if both were friends or not. they all got pissed by it, but they just got used to it after awhile.

on a friday night, the team and y/n were given tickets by coach geno to a football game, he gave them their training session to watch something fun as a reward for their hardwork. geno had an extra ticket and gave it to y/n as she’s always around doing her research, and wanted to give her some time for a night out too.

everyone was estatic and thanked the man. the game starts at 7pm, and the time said 5pm, which gives them enough time to get ready for the game. with this, the members all agreed to wear something casual instead of just their basketball oufit. they headed back to their dorms to get ready.

when everyone was in the dorms, y/n has a small problem. she wanted to wear a shirt that says uconn.. but she doesn’t have any. she wanted to feel that “school spirit,” and a football game always brings out the fun school spirits of students.

she asked aubrey if she could borrow and luckily aubrey gave her a shirt. it was a navy blue shirt that simply said uconn at the front.

it was 6pm, just in time to go to the game venue. all the uconn players and y/n got out of their dorms and headed for the football field.

when they arrived, many people looked at the team’s way, some screaming different names. but y/n heard a statement wherein she felt curious as to why someone has said that.

“is paige bueckers dating someone? look at that girl in navy!”

she wondered why, but shrugged it off eventually when they got into the open field. they got to their seats. y/n was beside kk, ice, q, and aubrey, while the others are in the back.

the team members at the back looked at y/n and started to laugh, teasing paige. “are you guys really dating? was the enemy thing just a stunt?” curiousity is growing on nika.

paige ignored her teammates’ questions and comments, and decided to make fun of y/n.

“you know y/n, at this point i just think that you have a liking for me. if not then.. why is my name and jersey number at the back of your shirt?”

I’m actually from Oregon and have been an OSU fan for a long time. No idea about Beers’ political views (it sounds like some are problematic), but Corvallis is a very liberal town. Just like at UConn, the team consisted of people with a range of political views, sexual identities, etc. Beers was by all accounts very well liked and kind of the glue that held things together (along with/ TVO and a few others). I think you just need to let things happen and see how she fits in if she does end up at UConn. I’m pretty bummed she’s leaving (along with almost everyone else), because of conference realignment.

I'm sorry about your team, it's very unfortunate that football destroyed such a promising upcoming team and it would have been fun to see what they could have become.

I'm sure Beers is generally a nice person. I saw her press conference comments about TVO and it was very sweet and I don't doubt that she got along well with her teammates and if she comes to UConn, I would hope she gets along with the girls there as well. However, her getting along with her poc/queer teammates doesn't change the fact that she actively follows accounts that threaten their very existence. She's clearly not the kind of girl who's going to throw out slurs in the locker room, but implicit support of people who do (as per her following) makes her complicit, regardless of her behavior.

Grad was tiring to say the least but hey im going to UConn, Aaliyah's going to UConn. Anyways I'm Elliot and i know what your thinking that's a boys name. Well your right but Sasha is a girls name and ive met so many male Sasha's. Full Name is Elliot Griffith Campbell-Pascall. Daughter of Famous Cassie Campbell-Pascall. My parents had me in 2001 so 4 years before they got married and 9 years later had my baby sister Brooke. Growing Up I played Hockey (with both my parents playing professionally I had no choice) Lacrosse and Football (soccer). I decided to Commit to UConn for Hockey because i wasn't getting any other full rides and because Aaliyah committed.

Aaliyah and I met in Highschool. I had failed grade 1 because i had undiagnosed autism and ADHD so it made it hard to learn. I was always fidgeting, I threw tantrums when we had supply teachers and everyone thought I was weird so they kept bugging me until I broke a kids nose (That was a fun trip to the office). But soon after that incident i was diagnosed with ADHD and Autism and now I get a special TA to help me with all my work and extra time on tests and assignments. We met in first period which was math and lets say i was STRUGGLING but Aaliyah noticed this and helped me out. Now almost 4 years later we are inseparable sure we both dated each other then cheated on each other but thats how we found out we are better off as friends. 

I Played Hockey for the Mississauga Senators AAA (Hockey) up until i hit the U18 boys team because i was too good to play with the other girls. I am also 6”4 so a lot taller than all the other girls too (Best defencewomen in the league). Played for the Mississauga Badgers (Lacrosse) U17 rep team until I turned 17. Finally played for Dixie Rep U18 girls team as a Keeper. It was A lot balancing 3 sports, especially lacrosse and Football because their seasons are the same, but me and my parents managed with the help of Wick (Hayley Wickenheiser) who became my professional baby sitter. (i said my first swear word at aged 2 and quoted “The Americans Had Our Flag On The Floor Of Their Dressing Room And Now I Want To Know If They Want Us To Sign It.” everyday for a whole year)

Literally every sport has been improved from parity, yall blue bloods fans are so threatened by someone other than one of yours having success.

You really don’t think Caitlin’s fans are gonna follow her to the WNBA? They’re just gonna stop watching her? Why would they be any different than fans from Tennessee, UConn, SC, etc? They all started somewhere too

Fans who follow college basketball because they're a fan of a college team do follow the WNBA. They start WNBA podcasts. They never shut up. There are entire factions of WNBA fans organized around college teams. They cheer for WNBA teams depending on how many alumni that team has from their school. Then, these college team fans will follow their local WNBA team. And they'll follow the WNBA team that's in the same region as the school they love. So if they don't live near their favorite school, they end up following 3 teams. The team with all the alumni, the team near their school, and their local team.

Fans who follow college basketball for one individual player are not going to follow WNBA. Only 1 out of 10 fans of an individual player are in it for the long haul. I'm sure you're the 1 out of 10 for Caitlin Clark.

I've watched Meg Gustafson contribute big minutes for the Mercury for two years. And when the Mercury plays in Indiana, how many Iowa fans come to see Meg? Well, maybe 10. In college, she'd draw thousands of fans. Now she draws 10. NCAA Clark sells 10,000 extra tickets per game. In the WNBA, best case scenario, she'll sell an extra 1,000 tickets per game.

Caitlin's Indiana saga is going to be a grind for at least 2 seasons. Local Indiana fans will show up. They like basketball if there's actually something good to watch. And I think Caitlin can make something out of it. Those grind seasons are a great time to win scoring awards. She should aim for ROTY in 2024 and season scoring leader in 2025.

The WNBA audience is basketball geeks, gay women, and girl dads. The NCAA Caitlin Clark audience is Christian patriots and college football fans. Most of these fans will love her from afar and watch her highlights. But they won't get invested in the WNBA. You're going to get new WNBA fans and midwest basketball geeks following Caitlin. But a bunch of her NCAA fans are going to fade away. She will never be as popular as she is right now. Her WNBA career will be more impressive than her college career. But the average CC bro will only remember her in the Hawkeye jersey. This happened to every player before Caitlin and it will happen to Caitlin, too. American culture is not going to change overnight.

y/n’s eyes widened, and check the name at the back of her shirt. it said bueckers with the jersey number 5. she immediately explained that aubrey gave it to her.

“i do not have a crush on you! don’t be so much of an assumer. aubrey gave it to me” y/n denied. “i left the shirt?” paige asked aubrey, furrowing her eyebrows. “think so. didn’t know that it has a name at the back..” aubrey explained nonchalantly and grabbed her phone. paige and y/n just shrugged it off, and waited for the game to start.

in a groupchat, the messages were going wild.

the messages stopped after awhile just before as the game started. everyone had fun, the team jumping when the uconn team makes a point, and shouting uconn chants every now and then.

after the football game, uconn fortunately won, and everyone’s school spirit were showing. the women’s basketball team all decided to get uber eats and eat at paige and azzi’s dorm.

when they arrived at the dorm, y/n asked the team if she can leave, as she didn’t want to feel left out due to the fact that she isn’t part of the team or even as active as them in sports.

everyone started saying no, they all genuinely wanted y/n to be there. she is always a good company.

the team ordered wingstop, and thought of what to do for the night. some suggested karaoke, dance battle, but truth or dare (or shots) won for the night, everyone was just in their mood to feel oozy.

the food finally arrived, and they all immediately started to eat. after some time, azzi brought beer, tequila specifically.

“okay lets get this party started!!! we have a very very special guest today….. y/n!” azzi playfully said. everyone got hyped and started the game.

“okay so truth or dare. if you don’t want to answer the question or do the dare, you get a shot” nika explained, and got a water bottle to spin. she then spinned, and the bottle’s cap pointed at kk.

“KK!!!!” everyone laughed. “truth or dare boo” aaliyah asked. “dare boo!” kk answered. “okay.. we dare you to sing a cover and send it to coach geno!”

kk was up for it, and sang saturn by sza to coach geno via dms, with many voice cracks and flat notes. everyone was laughing and having fun, with kk being proud of herself. coach geno replied when he got the message, and sent a “😂” and a “just stick with basketball.”

kk now turned the bottle around, which pointed at aubrey. “im choosing truth!” aubrey exclaimed. azzi had a question in mind, and asked who aubreys current liking was. aubrey got shy and answered that she’s been eyeing a junior in the uconn women’s volleyball team.

everyone was shocked, asking if they have talked already or how aubrey discovered her. “nah uh, only one question per turn!” aubrey didn’t ask answer questions, spinning the bottle.

it pointed at paige, with her choosing dare. the team then asked her to text her ex an “i miss you.” paige was always one who does dares, but for this one time, she hesitated. paige wasn’t sure why.

“uhm the girl from lsu?” paige asked, giving her time tho think about it. “duh! she’d always be there whenever we have games and still cheered for uconn even if she’s from lsu” ice mentioned. paige now decided to not send a text, she didn’t want to associate herself from love interests. she didn’t want y/n to witness that, and she didn’t know why.

drank her shot, and everyone in the room felt silent.

this was their first time seeing the person who never drinks for a game actually drinking because of a game. either way, the team didn’t force paige and continued to have the fun atmosphere.

paige looked around, and saw y/n get up, maybe getting more snacks. paige is now starting to realize how pretty y/n was. paige thought that the “y/n” effect was coming from y/n wearing her jersey. it just simply felt weird for someone in the team (or atleast close to the team) wear her jersey. but she felt nothing when kk wore it.. or when nika wore it.

paige shrugged off the feeling, and spinned the bottle. the bottle pointed at nika, who chose dare. kk had a “good” idea in mind, which was to have nika film a tiktok, as she isn’t always in the team’s tiktoks.

nika groaned but got up, and kk then showed her an easy tiktok dance. y/n and the team then decided to all join her which ended in pure chaos and fun. after the tiktok, everyone got back at their seats still laughing.

nika spinned the bottle, and it now pointed at y/n. y/n said truth, and people were contemplating on what to ask her. q then got an idea, “in the team, who would you like the kiss the most.” q asked. a bunch of “OOOOs” followed.

y/n wasn’t sure. scratch that, she was scared. her first thought was paige. she didn’t know what to feel and do, since she thought that she had always disliked the basketball player. was she into paige the whole time, using her “dislike” antics to get paige’s attention?

y/n was taking awhile, the others already asking the same question. instead of answering, she drank her shot instead. everyone was saying “AWWWs” and “NOOOOs.”

the psychology student looked around and saw paige looking at her, like the basketballer didn’t know whether to be happy or not, but y/n just shrugged it off, just like paige.

after many rounds of truth or dare, everyone is either tipsy or wasted. it was around 1am, and they all decided to call it a day night. it was late, and most didn’t seem to be in their proper minds and behavior (some were just really lazy) to come walk back to their dorms, so they all decided to have a sleepover.

y/n was positioned on the couch. everyone said their goodnights, and close the lights. y/n tried to sleep, but with the many thoughts in her mind she cant. she thought about her research, which was due in a month, stressing her out.


she then thought about paige.

she can’t comprehend as to why she loved messing around with paige, and why she loved seeing paige give her a negative reaction, but from all these experiences, why was she the first girl she thought of kissing?

after an hour of y/n just looking at the ceiling, she finally got sleep.

in the morning, y/n was awoken up by many notifications, with kk and azzi being on their phones and screaming. “goodmorning guys, what happened?” y/n asked, stretching her arms.

“brace yourself, you can scream as loud as you want since it’s just us three. the others went to dunkin and bought breakfast, they might take time” kk explained.

azzi gave y/n her cellphone, with a post from uconn’s freedom wall.

paige and y/n are dating. the uconn wbb went to the football game, and y/n was with them. she was wearing paige’s jersey shirt. they weren’t seated beside each other, but they kept on glancing at each other, i was near their seat. can’t believe a freshman bagged paige bueckers 🤷‍♀️
