As the Republican party continues to push back against critical race theory, a Boston University professor believes the GOP is "the party of white supremacy.”

In an editorial for The Atlantic, Ibram X. Kendi, Director of Antiracist Research at Boston University, criticized the Republican party for branding itself as the “party of parents.” By opposing race education, the GOP is grooming children to become white supremacists. according to Kendi.

”[The GOP] is stripping parents and educators of their collective ability to protect vulnerable children from being indoctrinated by—or victimized by—the scourge of white supremacy,” Kendi wrote in his article.

Kendi noted that Republicans representing themselves as the “party of parents” is a “myth” on the same level as “the great lie that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from Donald Trump,” Daily Mail reports.

“The Republican Party is not the party of parents raising girls, raising trans kids, raising kids of color, raising queer kids, raising poor kids, raising immigrant kids,” Kendi said.

The professor continued in his editorial, “The Republican Party is clearly not the party of parents. The Republican Party is certainly not the party of parents of color. But is the Republican Party even the party of white parents?”

According to Kendi, anti-racist education, like critical race theory, protects all children. At the very least, Republicans are supposed to care about white children, but banning critical race theory is harmful to all young people and stops them from learning about themselves and their histories, Kendi stated.

Kendi wrote that if GOP politicians cared about white children, "they would not be ignoring or downplaying or defending or bolstering the principal racial threat facing white youth today."

This follows Florida lawmakers passing the Stop WOKE Act, which banned critical race theory in schools and workplaces across the state. Kendi said that GOP politicians have justified the Don't Say Gay bill with "QAnon conspiracy theories about public schools being overrun by child predators who are "grooming" children to be gay.'

"While Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has framed his Don’t Say Gay bill as an "anti grooming bill," the real threat of grooming comes from blocking anti-racist education, Kendi said.

DJ Casper, the creator of the world-famous "Cha Cha Slide," has died at 58 years old.

The DJ lost his battle with cancer on Monday.

In May, Casper told ABC he never thought the "Cha Cha Slide" would be an international sensation.

"When I first did it, I did it as an aerobic exercise for my nephew at Bally's," Casper said. "From there, it just took off. Elroy Smith from WGCI grabbed ahold of it."

‘Cha Cha Slide’ creator DJ Casper dead at 58

The star from Chicago, born Willie Perry Jr, created the “Cha Cha Slide” — originally dubbed “Casper Slide Pt.1” — in 1998 for his nephew, a personal trainer who intended to use the line dance song in his fitness class.

DJ Casper sat down with ABC7 for his final television interview this May. He said he never expected the “Cha Cha Slide” to become such a hit.

“When I first did it, I did it as an aerobic exercise for my nephew at Bally’s,” Casper said. “From there, it just took off. Elroy Smith from WGCI grabbed ahold of it,” he continued.

His song isn’t only a favorite at weddings, it’s played at events all over the world. “I have one of the biggest songs that played at all stadiums: hockey, basketball, football, baseball; they played it at the Olympics,” Casper said.

“It was something that everybody could do.”

In May, Casper gave others struggling with cancer a word of encouragement.

“Anybody that’s going through cancer, know that you have cancer and cancer does not have you,” Casper said. “So, keep on doing the ‘Cha Cha Slide.'”
