Mio in the Land of Faraway (1987)
My rating: 6/10
Very cheesy, fairly generic portal fantasy with occasional bits of amusing weirdness (like the giant floating head whose beard the kid rides into fantasy land - y'all better have your Zardoz references at the ready), and overall entertaining enough - plus if you ever wanted to see Christopher Lee menace a teensy tiny baby Christian Bale, this is the movie for you.

The Butterfly Ball And The Grasshopper's Feast
This is not the rock opera soundtrack, but a musical setting of the book by Alan Aldridge and William Plomer on which it is based. The book is a set of poems, with the most gorgeous illustrations for each one.
We had the book and 1975 recording (on LP!) when I was a child. I loved to listen while reading/looking at the book. However, an LP meant using the good record player, so generally I had to make do with just the book. (This was the 1990s - we had a CD player, but my parents' music collection had been accumulated in the age of vinyl).
The pair of "Homeward" tracks are a personal favourite.

Carlos Santana's Supernatural belongs to a set of albums that give their veteran musicians a taste of success later in the careers as we have noticed in our talks about their peculiarities. One of the latter might be the fact they can reduce their players to a collection of cliches about them. For example – Reload by Tom Jones might be the LP by him many have bought, though the disc continues to present a version of him that is on the joke, which might seem like a good thing, until you observe this basically sacrifices all the other dimension he has. Of course, all is not lost as some duets on Reload surprise us. James Dean Bradfield collaborates with him on an Elvis cover of all things, though they gel so well together I wish he would've brought Mr. Jones to his band.

Trailer Oficial: Llaman A La Puerta
(more…) “”
