Benefits of Figs | Scientifically Proved | Advantages and disadvantages of Figs
The figs are the eatable fruit which is obtained from Ficus carica (scientific name) also called Fig, Figs are a species of tiny tree that occurs in the flowering plant family called the Moraceae family. Figs are Native plants of the Mediterranean countries and Western Asia, They have been cultivated for a long time and are now globally grown All over the world, Figs are also used as a fruit and as an ornamental plant. Figs are an excellent fruit that is the same as eye drops. The size of Figs is like our thumb, which is filled with 1000 small seeds, and they occur in the form of edible purple or green peel. The flesh of the figs is light pink and has a mild, nice sweet taste, Read more

Fantasy High stats
A summary of statistics from season 1.
I have only counted d20 rolls, and only by the players as it is pretty much impossible to track Brennan's rolls. I only counted nat 20s, nat 1s and "other rolls" since the players do not consistently announce what they got on the die. I also kept track of advantage and disadvantage but I am sure some of those slipped by me unannounced.
ALL ROLLS:
Tumblr media
As you can see, the vast majority of rolls by the players are skill checks — just over 60%.
PERCENTAGE OF NAT 20s AND NAT 1s:
Tumblr media
This chart is really the star of the show! It is why I started this whole godforsaken mission in the first place.
NOTE: This chart is tracking percentage of each player's individual rolls! It is not representative of raw numbers, but instead each column is relative to that player's total d20 rolls this season.
For this one I factored in the advantage and disadvantage rolls, and any way you slice it Zac still rolls the most nat 20s by far.
What surprised me was that Ally rolls proportionally the most nat 1s. That has somehow not entered into the consciousness of the fandom at all, maybe because they roll the fewest dice so the raw number of nat 1s isn't the highest. Conversely, Emily rolls the fewest nat 1s! Murph has rolled more nat 20s than Lou, but he also rolled the most dice so he rolls proportionally fewer 20s.
ATTACK ROLLS:
Tumblr media
Gorgug and Fabian go toe to toe in most number of attacks made overall, and both get to make multiple attacks per turn. Riz shoots his arquebus a decent amount. Fig and Kristen barely attack, instead relying on spells that require saving throws. Adaine has some offensive spells, as well as an affinity for fisticuffs.
SKILL CHECKS:
Tumblr media
The players roll perception checks more often than any other kind of check, followed by insight and investigation. They don't make any nature or survival checks. As a mystery that takes place in a large town, that absolutely tracks.
ABILITY CHECKS and SAVES:
Tumblr media
Sometimes Brennan asks the players to make a check based on a prime ability score. Not very often though.
The saving throws the players make the most often are Dexterity and Wisdom. They don't roll any Intelligence saves.
DEATH SAVES:
Tumblr media
There is not a single nat 20 death save in Fantasy High season 1.
OTHER ROLLS:
Tumblr media
It is probable that Siobhan made 14 portent rolls — however, she only uses 13 of them. In the house party fight she rolls a d20 three times to see if she is able to use Blink. (Two succeed.) Lou and Emily each make a luck check this season, and in the finale Murph rolls to see if the police get there a total of 10 times. During the fight on the Bloodrush field Emily makes one joke roll to see how gross her spit is. And of course, Ally rolls an absolutely wild nat 20 in part 1 of the finale.
That's it for now! Follow for more Dimension 20 stats, and stay tuned for Bloodkeep.

ok it's time for some level updates from the latest episode:
fig faeth:
initial level: lore bard 8, hexblade warlock 2
current level: lore bard 9, hexblade warlock 2
gorgug thistlespring:
initial level: berserker barbarian 7, alchemist artificer 3
current level: berserker barbarian 6, alchemist artificer 5
adaine abernant:
initial level: divination wizard 10
current level: divination wizard 11
fabian seacaster:
initial level: battlemaster fighter 6, swords bard 4
current level: battlemaster fighter 6, swords bard 5
kristen applebees:
initial level: twilight cleric 11
current level: twilight cleric 11
riz gukgak:
initial level: arcane trickster rogue 11
current level: arcane trickster rogue 11
not too many big changes, except for gorgug, who's shifted focus to artificer classes, with an alchemy subclass. on the barbarian side, he loses feral instinct, which grants advantage on initiative, but doesn't lose his rages or any of his current subclass features. on the artificer side he gets 2nd level spells, alchemist's supplies proficiency, and buffs in the form of experimental elixirs.
most of these choices are indicative of what the party has been doing in their classes and the fact that they just had a big battle at the mall. we've seen some discussion of fig not wanting to be a bard, of kristen having to do the leg work of being a cleric, so there may be other major changes.
by my calculations, they got enough XP in the mall fight to be just at the cusp of leveling up. literally 5 XP away for each of them, so i'd say they probably get enough from regular class activities to push them over the edge.
Tumblr media
other mechanics-wise; this season doesn't seem like it's going to be quite like freshman year in terms of how the bad kids leveled up; they have more to do in school, as well as specific social responsibilities that prevent them from just going around town and popping off. battles are likely to be much more complicated, instead of pure hit point sinks. not that they were in the first place, but they're dealing with a lot more. they also have a lot more downtime, much like in the unsleeping city chapter ii, but they are making a bunch more rolls for what they're doing with that downtime in order to simulate the stress of the scenario.
so, i think it's going to be a major progression season, but they're only going from level 10 to ~level 13-14. they may do something like tucii and go from 10-12. we've already seen the night yorb battle and synod battle; we have yet to see the thistlespring tree (folk festival), the ship (probably fabian's house, as referenced by the cloud engine thing), or the graveyard (cravencroft, just outside of mordred manor).
i have a feeling that the stress tokens are going to be like an elevated version of what brennan did with the red tokens from neverafter; the more stress they take on from letting things slip, the harder it is for them to be emotionally stable and contain the rage of existence in junior year. maybe something that can be used to inflict disadvantage on wisdom checks for the rage stars?
anyway, that's all for this update!

for the multiclassers with their level up to 14 there are options
Fabian is currently a level 6 fighter battlemaster/7 swords bard. getting a level in fighter means getting a battlemaster feature Know your Enemy. Which honestly I feel is underused in most dnd games, but can be very good for him where he's in school and has a much easier chance to observe potential enemies like the Ratgrinders. If he takes a level in bard, he doesn't get that much as it is an ability score level up so potentially he could get his 18 in charisma to 20, or he could get a feat. If he does go this route I think he should take a feat since Fabian's charisma is great already and he doesn't really use his spells in combat that much compared to the casters, he mostly uses it to get smites from Fandragor. There are a lot of cool feats that he could pick if he went this route, like sentinel that he had then lost in Sophomore year. Of course, there are other reasons to take a level, sometimes the most important thing is to take a level in a class to get closer to a higher level class feature. They don't have many more combats/episodes left, probably 1 before the finale so they could potentially have another level up. at 9th level get gets access to a 5th level spell.
Gorgug is in a similar space as Fabian, he's a 6 barbarian berserker/7 artificer barbificier. taking a level in barbarian would give him access to feral instinct that he lost when he took artificer levels. Advantage on initiative is good, but he's had disadvantage on initiative since he started getting stress tokens so I'm not sure how important that is to Zac. The level in Artificer won't give him much as it's an ability score level. He could boost his strength up to 20 to max it out or get his int to 18 for his artificer stuff. Or he could take a feat and then who knows what he's going to do. Of course, he could take 2 levels in artificer by becoming a 5 barbarian, and become a 9th level artificer to show off a feature of his new homebrewed subclass. I don't think he should since he would lose mindless rage that has saved him quite a few times and high level dnd has a lot of weird mind magic that can frighten and charm. As the biggest guy on the field he's the likely target. As we don't know much about Gorgug's barbificer subclass it could be worth it or it might not be.
Fig is more complicated since she has 3 classes, 10 lore bard/1 hexblade warlock/2 paladin. First off, I don't think she's going to take a warlock level, eldritch invocations are great, but she had them before and gave up a level of warlock for paladin. She seems to like the concept of Warlock, but mechanically it doesn't do much for her, the single level of hexblade is all she needs to be an awesome melee bard. Taking a level in bard would make sense given that we still have to see the outcome of her 30 or so roll on her new song. And doing so would give her access to 6th level spells. Also in regards to bard, I don't think Fig is going to switch her subclass again to swords or valor to get an extra attack. She might, but as a lore bard her magical secrets she gets have served her well, it's the reason she was able to use revify and counterspell. She has the normal magical secrets from being a bard, but who knows if she'd be willing to part with spells for another attack since Emily loves her spells. If she takes a 3rd level in paladin she'll be taking her oath, which is important to her story and what she's been struggling with. I'm not sure if she'd take a level this time or after their second to last fight, it might be more important for her then as a climax. She would get a class feature and honestly I could see it being a homebrewed feature since she doesn't really fit into any of the oaths currently available. Maybe conquest or redemption given how her storyline in intertwined with Ankarna, but who knows given how open Brennan is with homebrew. I also don't think Fig is going to give up her bard levels to get to 5 paladin by the end of the season. Her magical secrets she gets as a bard at 10 are just too good to pass up, she'd lose at least summon greater steed and another spell which I don't think would be worth it.
I am very excited to see how things turn out tonight to see how they level up.

I feel kind of bad about doing this, but it's not really much more information than we already had and I mean, it was in the preview. The back of Lou's sheet here is readable in a way that the one Siobhan was holding up the other week wasn't, because this is in a close-up on Lou instead of a shot of the whole side of the table. There IS one thing on here that has been heavily heavily hinted at but not happened yet that I would class as a spoiler, so I'm putting my reading of this below the read more:
Likely skills: Extracurricular Dependent Mechanical Benefit: Extracurricular Dependent Examples: Owlbears Practice (underlined), School Clubs, Elven Oracle, Running(?) the Bottomless Pit, Cassandra's Church
MYSTERY: Likely Skills: Arcana, Investigation, History, Perception, Insight Mechanical Benefit: Success gives a Small Clue, +10 to DC is a Large Clue, +20 DC is a Breakthrough in the Case Examples: Lucy Frostblade, investigating the Rat Grinders, etc
Proposed Tracks: Gorgug: 4 academic tracks, Owlbears Fig: Warlock, Barbarian, (?), Sophomore Album, Archdevil, Security Fabian: Bard, Fighter, Owlbears, Popularity (all circled) Kristen: Cleric, Popularity, Goddess Riz: Rogue, Tons(?) of Extracurriculars, Popularity Adaine: Wizard, Party Time Job, Oracle, AV Club
Miscellaneous Rules Having an MCAT (signed permission from teacher to multiclass) means all Academics rolls(?) made after the first are rolled(?) with Advantage Fig and Kristen are in danger of expulsion - failing an Academic Track by more than 5 will see(?) them expelled from the school. If Gorgug hits a Nat 20 on an Academics roll, he can unlock the Barbificer Subclass Adaine makes(?) Academics rolls with disadvantage unless she can get to well-off monetarily.
Much less is visible of the other pages, but one appears to be a rundown of Fabian's various maneuvers, one is handwritten notes, and the last is a character sheet.

-(trying to talk to a woman hes interested in) "sklonda i'll level with you: i recently found out that one of my shoes is so filled with mildew from a leak in my apartment that i have this new kind of foot fungus, and my doctor says..." "thats a nat 20 charisma?"
-gortholax the insatiable later got with sklonda also
-got hired as the lunch "lad" instead. his daughter fig set up a tip jar to try and boost his moxie but all he received was written cruelty
-somehow became vice principal
-soon fired as vice principal and demoted to "intern" on fig and her friends' spring break quest
-"gilear do you want some elven whey bread?" "ah, no id better not i cant afford it." "im giving it to you, its a gift." "i know, but if i eat it then ill remember how it tastes and i wont be able to get any of it later"
-died no less than 4 times on said quest (maybe more i cant remember)
-the first time was after having his face used as a launchpad by his stepson fabian to get advantage on an attack roll. fabian "got advantage from jumping but also got disadvantage, cause its gilear, so it cancels out"
-fabian wants to kill him. his mother (gilears girlfriend) makes gilear sleep in the garage
-the second time was upon taking ambient damage from a rain of hellfire immediately upon following his daughter to the nine hells ass moral/legal support
-the third time was after a sarcophagus he was hiding in was shot from a canon

Solar Panel Issues And Degradation Explained
Solar pontoons aren't feasible for use on the ocean, but the calmer waters of reservoirs could be appropriate for intensive arrays. The pontoons present partial shade for the water under, which may be of benefit to the ecosystem within the reservoir, while the panels themselves might be cooled by the water under. There are subsequently few panorama and visible effects of floating solar farms. Solar panels are wired to inverters in parallel or sequence (a 'string'). In string connections the voltages of the modules add, however the current is decided by the bottom performing panel. โซล่าเซลล์ Further, the modules capability to withstand natural setting conditions similar to temperature, rain, hail, snow, corrosion, dust, lightning, horizon and near-shadow effects is examined. The format for design and development of the module and the standard of components and installation may additionally be examined at this stage. Blocking and bypass diodes could also be included inside the module or used externally to cope with partial array shading, so as to maximize output. For sequence connections, bypass diodes are placed in parallel with modules to allow current to bypass shaded modules which would in any other case severely limit the current.
Tumblr media
The full description of an example of this ACS is discussed in Ref. [50]. Some advantages of solar panels are that they use a renewable and clean source of power, scale back greenhouse gas emissions, and lower electricity payments. Some disadvantages are that they rely upon the supply and depth of daylight, require upkeep and cleansing, and have high initial prices. By the time you've barter 5 a photo voltaic financial institution will solely set you back 4500 dukes (3000 dukes before Alpha 20) which in comparability with high level photo voltaic cells (which set you back 2-3 stacks of dukes) is trivial. A photo voltaic panel is a tool that converts daylight into electricity by utilizing photovoltaic (PV) cells. PV cells are made of materials that generate electrons when uncovered to mild. The electrons move through a circuit and produce direct current (DC) electricity, which can be used to energy various devices or be stored in batteries. Solar panels are also referred to as solar cell panels, photo voltaic electrical panels, or PV modules. Several local authorities in the UK have invested closely in installing photo voltaic panels to native authority-owned properties all through the nation. In addition, businesses have sought the advantages of renewable and micro-energy technology subsidies (such because the recent “feed in tariff” subsidy) by putting in solar panels on farm buildings, industrial buildings, workplace buildings, etc. Public buildings such as colleges, hospitals, and council buildings have additionally seen an growing variety of photo voltaic installations (Fig. 19.2). Automotive photo voltaic panels can also include an auxiliary energy outlet and/or USB adapter. Indoor panels (including solar pv glasses, skinny movies and windows) can combine a microinverter (AC Solar panels). To craft photo voltaic cells you will want damaged glass, as there is no Andy is deeply concerned about climate change however is also concerned about cost of residing pressures on American households. He advocates for solar energy and photo voltaic battery storage solely to the extent that they make monetary sense for homeowners. He just isn't affiliated with any explicit photo voltaic company within the United States. Normally, the photo voltaic inverter will want changing throughout your solar system’s lifetime as a end result of it is working extremely onerous because the device that converts DC electrical energy into AC electrical energy in your home to make use of. Because the racking system is drilled into the roof to hold the panels, it is more uncovered to the weather, including solar, rain, snow, and extreme temperatures.

What Is Prestressed Concrete & Advantages and Disadvantages of Prestressed Concrete
Tumblr media
What Is Prestressed Concrete?
Prestressed Concrete is simply concrete that is stressed before concrete is poured in from work with the help of a jack and tension embed in it. In the case of prestressed concrete, high-strength prestressed steel bars produce tension in a concrete member before actual loads are applied which will be balanced by the tensile stresses imposed on the member during the service period or after commissioning. As we generally know that concrete is the mixture of three main ingredients which are cement (a fine mixture of clay, limestone, and a small amount of gypsum ground up to the desired degree of fineness), sand (only river sand or obtained through pit) and aggregate (Made form blasting and grinding from rocky soil) and when we add water (free from impurities) in this mixture it creates concrete which we use for various civil work.
Tumblr media
Prestressed Concrete One of the main important characteristics of concrete or drawback of concrete is, that it is weak in tension and strong in compression because the material used in concrete is rigid and posse’s low tensile/flexural strength. That’s why in order to resist the tensile load or stress which structure has to resist after actual loading. Engineers come up with a solution to introducing High strength steel bars into concrete members. Using this method they have overcome the problem of tensile stress which has allowed the engineer to achieve various possibilities such as reducing the size of members increasing span length etc. But when we consider structure such as bridges, where the span is so long and the load is also high, we can’t simply adopt a normal reinforced concrete structure as the size of the member become larger, crack developed and it’s become uneconomical. Under such a circumstance we have to adopt different kinds of methods and one of the most commonly adopted methods is the prestressing of concrete. Read More: Self Healing Concrete- A New Innovation In Civil Engineering
Prestressed Concrete Structures
Conventional concrete has embedded with high tensile strength steel bars which have great compressive strength to form ideal structural material which is good in both compression and tensile. In the case of prestressed concrete, high-strength prestressed steel bars produce tension in a concrete member before actual loads are applied which will be balanced by the tensile stresses imposed on the member during the service period or after commissioning. As you can see in fig. 1 which is a normal R.C.C beam where no prestressing is done beam will deflect under loading and the crack will develop.
Tumblr media
Principle of Prestressed Concrete
Tumblr media
Principle of Prestressed Concrete - Where in fig. 3 to 6 you can see that if we apply pre-stress force before actual loading, we will see a positive deflection caused by applied compression force but as the actual load is applied to the beam our beam will become straight or flat. - Some of the benefits of prestressed concrete over conventional R.C.C is that we can construct members having less crack, less shrinkage, and temperature effects. - As a result, the ingression of detrimental agents is prevented which helps in avoiding reinforcement corrosion. - It is also becoming a tool to go beyond the design limitation of concrete members placed on span and load and permits the building of roofs, floors, bridges, and walls with longer unsupported spans. - This allows architects and engineers to design and build lighter and reduce its C/S area without losing strength but the construction process in prestressed concrete requires extensive monitoring and complicated devices and equipment at all stages. Tendons In Prestressed Concrete
Tumblr media
Prestress Tendons Steel Wires - wire is a single unit made of steel. Strands – Group of wire not more than 7 wounded to form a prestressing strand. Tendon – A number of strands or wires are packaged together to form a prestressing tendon. Cable – When a number of tendons are grouped together and form a single wire then it is called a Cable. Based upon the concrete-steel interface it can be classified into two-part: Unbounded tendon – This tendon is one that is not bonded or in which no concrete grouting is done after prestressing. Bonded tendon - This tendon is bounded by injecting concrete grout.
Types of Prestressed Concrete
1. Pre-tensioning
Tumblr media
Pre-tensioning of Concrete In the pre-tensioning process, the steel tendon is stretched before the concrete is poured into the formwork. Then High-strength steel tendons are placed between two abutments and stretched as per the required deflection or strength. After that Concrete is poured into molds and around the tendons and allowed to cure. Tendons are kept stretched until the desired concrete strength is reached after curing. As the steel reacts to regain its original length, the tensile stresses are translated into compressive stress in the concrete. The most popular prestressed concrete elements are roof slabs, piles, poles, bridge girders, wall panels, and railroad ties. Read More: How Long Should Concrete Cure Before Removing Forms 2. Post-tensioning
Tumblr media
Post-Tensioning In the post-tensioning process tendons are stretched after the concrete hardens. First, Concrete is cast around, but not in contact with unstretched tendons. In many situations, a duct is formed in the concrete unit using thin-walled steel forms. As the concrete hardened to the required strength, the steel tendons are then inserted and stretched against the ends of the unit and anchored off externally, placing the concrete into compression. Post-tensioned concrete is used for cast-in-place concrete and for bridges, large girders, floor slabs, shells, roofs, and pavements.
Principles of Prestressed Concrete
In concrete, a large prestressing force is applied by tendons embedded into it to develop high bearing stresses at the ends by the anchoring devices. These anchoring devices are generally designed for high-strength concrete work. Too high tensile stresses are likely to be developing in concrete members and that cannot be satisfactorily resisted by low-strength concrete work. Stress transfer to concrete is done by and between concrete and tendons, the concrete should have a high strength concrete. Shrinkage cracks will occur during the safer of stresses from tendon to concrete. High-strength concrete has a high modulus of elasticity and therefore the elastic and creep strain are very small resulting in a smaller loss of pre-stress in all steel reinforcement. Read More: Concrete Crack Repair – Top 5 Best Methods Of Crack Repair
Advantages and Disadvantages of Prestressed Concrete
Advantages of Prestressed Concrete - We can achieve the overall economy as by adopting prestressing we can reduce the of the er for higher load smaller C/S can be achieved. - A large span can be achieved without increasing the member size for the same loading condition. - Other advantages, such as excellent fire resistance, low maintenance costs, elegance, high corrosion resistance, adaptability, etc. - By adopting prestressed concrete we can achieve a structure that will have less crack or crack-free structure. - Because of better material being used and nullifying the effect of dead loads, smaller deflections are caused.
Disadvantages of Prestressed Concrete
- The cost of high-strength materials being used is higher than the normal RCC. - The initial cost is incurred due to the prestressing equipment and its installation. - Excessive cost for prestressing is also there. - Prestressing is uneconomical for short spans and light loads.
FAQs:
Prestressed Concrete DefinitionPrestressed Concrete is simply concrete that is stressed before concrete is poured in from work with the help of jack and tension embed in it. In the case of prestressed concrete, high-strength prestressed steel bars produce tension in a concrete member before actual loads are applied which will be balanced by the tensile stresses imposed in the member during the service period or after commissioning. What Is PrestressingPrestressing is the process of compressing concrete element by steel wires or strands. Precast concretet elements can be prestressed during the construction process (pre-tensioning) or structures may be stressed once completed (post-tensioning). Prestressing counterbalance the tensile stresses introduced when the element is loaded. Hence the concrete element remains in compression.Prestressed Concrete StructuresPrestressed concrete structures are constructed from pre-stressed concrete elements. Precast concrete elements can be prestressed during the construction process (pre-tensioning) or structures may be stressed once completed (post-tensioning). Prestressing counterbalance the tensile stresses introduced when the element is loaded. Hence the concrete element remains in compression. The Benefits of Leaks Detection
Tumblr media
Biological leaks detection methods use trained dogs and experienced personnel to detect underground water leaks. These methods can also detect odors and discolored vegetation around the pipeline. The results of these methods are highly dependent on the person's experience and the type of leak that he or she is detecting. This technique is difficult to apply to pipelines that contain H2S or other hazardous substances. Listed below are the three most common biological leaks detection methods.
Water leak detection is an essential step in safeguarding your warehouse. It helps you detect and fix water leaks before they cause extensive damage to the goods and property. Water leaks can damage essential products and even contaminate stored goods. They may also result in visible damage. A water leak detection system will alert you to the location of the high-risk water leak and take the appropriate steps. This technology can save you a lot of money in the long run.
In addition to being accurate, leaks detection systems should also be robust against large excursions in signal trend. Leak signals that are large and erratic are often an outlier. An outlier is a value that is significantly different from nearby values. While American Petroleum Institute measurement standards assume that signal errors are Gaussian, real-world outliers are problematic for leak detection systems. This is why the development of leak detection systems should be based on real-world outliers.
In addition to the hardware-based methods, leak detection systems can also use software-based technologies to monitor pressure, temperature, flow rate, and other factors. Fig. 3 shows some example pipes used in leak detection. There are also a variety of software-based leak detection methods that can be applied to pipelines. However, they all have their disadvantages and limitations. For example, a sensor that monitors pressure and temperature can fail to detect a leak even if it is small. Check out this website for more about leaks detection.
In addition to the above benefits, installing leak detection systems may also affect your home insurance rate. Besides causing damage to the property, water leaks also result in high expenses like structural repairs, mold remediation, and replacement of damaged items. In addition to these expenses, they also cause financial hardship for the homeowners, who must spend a considerable amount of money on living expenses while the repairs are being made. As a result, home insurance companies may offer discounts to homeowners who prevent water damage and install leak detection systems.
The proposed leak detection method can detect leaking at both inside and outside the monitoring area. Furthermore, the proposed technique has the advantage of minimizing false alerts. For example, two pipes leaking inside the monitoring area were not detected because the thresholds were not appropriately selected. In the future, more data may be used to tailor the threshold for each pipe. Once the training data becomes more abundant, the algorithm can be refined to handle leaking situations. Synthesis of tetraphenylammonium: Confirmation of the existence of the phantom ion
Tetraphenylammonium, with all four hydrogens of ammonium (NH4+) replaced with benzene rings, has neither been discovered in nature nor chemically synthesized, calling into question whether it could exist. Here, we succeeded in synthesizing tetraphenylammonium for the first time, demonstrating its stable existence. The synthetic strategy used in this study, radical coupling, may be applicable to the synthesis of various related ammoniums with high structural novelty. The study is published in Nature Communications.
Since the benzene ring is a representative constituent of organic compounds, a structure consisting only of a common element plus the benzene ring is considered to be one of the most fundamental chemical skeletons. Due to their importance, chemical synthesis of such molecules has been studied since the early days of organic chemistry. For example, the structure in which four benzene rings are bonded to a representative element (boron, carbon, aluminum, silicon, or phosphorus) of groups 13 to 15 in the periodic table (Fig. 1) was synthesized more than 70 years ago, and the oldest synthetic report dates back 137 years.
Tumblr media
These skeletons are collectively referred to as "tetraphenyl," which means that the structure contains 4 benzene rings. When the central element is nitrogen, ammonium, NH4+, is regarded as the parent ion. Such a compound is called tetraphenylammonium. This compound, in fact an ion, has a very simple chemical structure that even a beginner in organic chemistry can easily imagine.
Nevertheless, it has proved to be very difficult to artificially create this structure, and no synthetic reports with clear structure identification have been published. Furthermore, since it has not been discovered in nature, it has not been clear until now whether tetraphenylammonium can exist at all. Publications have appeared that assume its existence and mention only its use without describing its synthesis or acquisition method. Compound databases contain only the chemical structure. Thus this ion is sometimes referred to as if it were already known. However, in reality, no one has actually observed it, making tetraphenylammonium a "phantom ion."
Tumblr media
Tetraphenylammonium synthesis strategy using radical coupling
In this study, a research team at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kanazawa University has enabled the synthesis of tetraphenylammonium by establishing a novel synthetic strategy. The critical point in the synthesis of tetraphenylammonium is the addition of the fourth phenyl group to the nitrogen atom that already has three phenyl groups attached. It was thought to be difficult to achieve this synthesis with conventional techniques. In the present study, therefore, the research team applied a technique called radical coupling and used a strategy of reacting the radical cation 1 prepared from a triphenylamine derivative with the phenyl radical 2 (Fig. 2).
As a result, although the yield was as low as 0.1%, the research team succeeded in performing the desired chemical conversion. In such radical couplings, highly reactive radicals form bonds with each other, which has the advantage of enabling bond formation that could not be achieved by other methods. On the other hand, it has the disadvantage that it is difficult to control selectivity because the reactivity is too high, leading to various side reactions.
Therefore, in this synthesis, in order to suppress as much as possible the side reaction of bond formation on the carbon of radical cation 1, the research team also devised the introduction of protecting groups) that cause steric hindrance. Finally, a total of five steps of chemical conversion of a known triphenylamine derivative, the starting material for the synthesis, were carried out through the introduction of the protecting groups, radical coupling, and subsequent removal of the protecting groups, leading to tetraphenylammonium.
Based on the data obtained from various instrumental analyses, the structure of tetraphenylammonium was confirmed. X-ray crystallography) revealed that the bond length between the nitrogen atom and the phenyl group carbon atom contained in this ion is only 1.529 Å (Fig. 3).
Since this bond length is shorter than that of a tetraphenyl structure containing another element (boron, carbon, aluminum, silicon, or phosphorus), it is evident that the nitrogen atom of tetraphenylammonium is in a more spatially hindered environment than other elements. This three-dimensional hindrance is considered to be one of the factors that make it difficult to construct this skeleton. Further, our results also revealed that tetraphenylammonium has a high stability to withstand strongly acidic and basic conditions.

X-ray crystal structure of tetraphenylammonium
The present study has demonstrated that tetraphenylammonium does in fact exist and can be chemically synthesized. If large-scale synthesis of this ion and its derivatives is realized in the future, it could potentially be applied in various research fields as an organic cation with high chemical stability. Furthermore, the radical coupling strategy used in this study may be applicable to the synthesis of other related ammoniums that could not be made so far.

Iris Marion Young uses the specific example of the siting of a hazardous waste treatment plant to examine the justice of decision-making procedures and structures. As dominant philosophical conceptions of justice–namely, utilitarianism and Rawlsian justice–focus on weighing the costs and benefits of decisions but do not explicitly examine the structures that are used to make these decisions, Young believes that they are inadequate for dealing with questions of equitable distribution (171). She ultimately argues that the principle of self-determination ought to be applied to collective action as well as individual autonomy and that communities rather than the state should make decisions in the interest of residents.
The state of Massachusetts designated an area in the town of West Warren as the site for a new type of non-radioactive hazardous waste treatment plant (172). Residents were vehemently opposed to the designation out of concern for the environmental risks posed by emitted gases, seepage into groundwater, and potential explosions. Residents wondered why they must unequally suffer the risks of the power plant when the rest of the state only benefits (173). From a utilitarian standpoint, the site in West Warren was justified. Hazardous substances must be treated to minimize contamination, and the rural, sparsely populated site of the proposed plant would cause damage to the least amount of people. Under Rawlsian justice, inequality is acceptable if the least advantaged party can also benefit (174). The communities of West Warren were expected to be compensated through increased community funding as well as the ability to dictate strict monitoring of the plants. Thus, the siting decision would also be justified according to Rawls. However, Young argues that fairness was not achieved in that arrangement because the residents were not in a position to decide for themselves, as receiving compensation is not all that is required for justice.
Young claims that Utilitarianism and Rawlsianism fail to critically reflect on the systems that make allocations and decisions. The underlying myth is that the arbitrator of these decisions, the state, is a neutral party with no interests (178). Yet, that is hardly ever the case. In this example, the presence of a treatment plant benefits the state since it solves the issue of waste disposal and is attracting a business with large revenue streams. Members of the state may also act out of their own interests for promotion or to play to the favor of lobbyists. Since the state cannot be neutral on policy issues, Young argues that the decision-making power ought to fall to those most affected by the policy (180-1). The principle of self-determination can be seen as an extension of autonomy on the individual scale when it is applied to collective action. This thus ensures that any unequal agreement is not forced upon the more disadvantaged party.
I believe that Young’s vision of self-determination is far too naive and contains certain false assumptions. Firstly, she assumes that people can rationally assess the risk of public policies. Young claims that if the waste treatment plant were harmless enough to the community, then surely there will be a community willing to site it (181). On the contrary, I suspect that most communities would be opposed to importing large amounts of hazardous waste to its vicinity, regardless of the safety of the treatment plant. Furthermore, a safe plant that has been rejected several times by communities may raise alarm in the eyes of the next community it attempts to be sited at. I believe that rational assessment of risk and benefit will not be determining factors in the matter of policymaking. The lack of rationality in collective action is also substantiated in the field of behavioral economics.
Secondly, Young assumes that self-determination can yield one coherent set of views on policies regarding the community. Yet, due to diversity in socioeconomic, racial, ethnic, sexual preference, and educational backgrounds, policies are likely to affect people unequally. Consensus would be difficult to achieve. In an ideal world, only the most equitable policies will be passed, but realistically such a policy is difficult to imagine. What would likely end up happening is that the policies created would disproportionately benefit those who have the money and time to devote to these issues. Therefore, even when the decision is made by the masses, the socioeconomically disadvantaged sector of the community would still bear the brunt of the harm.
Finally, Young assumes that policies such as siting of waste treatment plants can be delayed until consensus is achieved. She assumes that the treatment plant can simply come up with a safer approach so that the community will accept it. However, the plant proposal was likely using the safest possible technology for its time, and a better approach would take more time to research. During this time, hazardous waste could accumulate and cause greater harm to more communities. In some situations, any imperfect decision is better than no decision at all, especially when it comes to collective action. While the siting of this waste treatment plant in West Warren was unfair to its residents, it hardly seems more fair to cause greater harm by waiting for better technology to become developed. How would Young propose we deal with waste treatment if no community was willing to welcome a new plant into their neighborhood?

Network Topologies
Network Topologies
Topology: " The physical arrangement of the devices/nodes".
Now let's discuss local area network topology why should we learn network topology and the reason for that is pretty simple it helps us understand about the different elements of the network and how and where the connects and besides that if you want to learn about networking for any reason, it is very important stuff because if you don't know something you can fix it it will help you decide what actions to take when you face trouble with network problems and troubleshooting network.
So network topology is of two types first is physical one which refers to the actual layout of cables wire and other peripherals think of it as you are in a room with bunch of network cables coming out of computer and connected into a hub or a switch or a router now this whole thing about how the network is arranged comes under physical topology the other one is logical topology it refers to a concept in networking which describes the architecture of the communication between network devices like how the data is transmitted how the nodes connected to each other and we are going to be more focused on physical topology now there are different types of physical topologies and each type of physical topology has its own cones and drones now let's discuss each of them one by one.
Star Topology
Tumblr media
Fig 1: Star Topology
So first we have star topology now the star topology is the most common network topology and in this topology all nodes are connected individually to one central hub via coaxial or a fiber optic cable now this central node manages all the data transmission me which means any information sent to a device in this topology has to pass through the central node the advantages of a start apology are it is easy to manage your entire network from a single location it is easy to set up and modify adding more devices or removing is easy and as each device connected individually and independently to the node if one fails it doesn't affect the others and the disadvantages of star topology are it is more expensive than other topology because of the cost of cable and other equipments if the central hub goes down then the entire network fails heavy network traffic can sometimes lower the performance  and overall bandwidth depend on the hub's capacity and it comes costly.
Bus Topology
Tumblr media
Fig 2: Bus Topology
Now we have bus topology now the bus topology also known as backbone topology and line topology because it uses a single cable running in a single direction from one end of the network to the other end which connects all the nodes and the data flow is also unidirectional and follows the route of the cable as the data flow in a single direction it can be reflected back to where it came from in order to avoid this a special terminator that works as a shock absorber is used to terminate the signal the advantages are it is widely used and cost effective for smaller networks more nodes can be added easily by joining additional cable to the line cable and the disadvantages are if the common cable is damaged whole network fails as the network increases performance decreases significantly and heavy network traffic or multiple simultaneous requests from multiple devices may develop collision in the network.
Ring Topology
Tumblr media
Fig 3: Ring Topology
Next we have ring topology ring topology also known as token topology as the name suggests all devices are connected on a single circular coaxial or fiber optic cable to form a loop there are no terminated end unlike bus topology and the signal flows in the loop unidirectionally the data is sent across the loop until it reaches the destination node by using other devices on the ring to forward the data and this whole method called talking passing the advantages are only one device on the network is allowed to send data at a time which reduces the risk of collision as the data flow is unidirectional troubleshooting is also easy and it is easy to install and reconfigure and because of the structure it provides fast error checking the disadvantages are if one device fails entire network fields adding or removing devices can disrupt the network activity.
Mesh Topology
Tumblr media
Fig 4: Mesh Topology
Now we have the mesh topology and this topology can be of two types full mesh or partial mesh and full match topology each devices connects to every other device on the network and develops p2p connection between all the nodes of the network and in partial mesh most of the device is connected likewise as full mesh topology but some of devices are connected with two or three devices the advantages of mesh topology are no traffic problems as nodes has alternative links and if any device fails entire network doesn't fail the disadvantages are installation is far complex than other topology it is costly due to the extra use of cables and requires larger space to run.
Hybrid Topology
The last one we have hybrid topology in hybrid topology two or more topologies are combined to form a complete network this topology is just a combination of other topologies and the advantages of hybrid topology are it is the combination of the benefits of different types of topology modification are easy it is extremely flexible and very reliable error detection and troubleshooting is easy it handles large volume of traffic as it is used for create large network the disadvantages of hybrid topology are designer for hybrid topology is very complex requires a lot of cables in installation process and the installation process is a difficult task.

🚨SPOILERS FOR FANTASY HIGH JUNIOR YEAR EPISODE 8🚨
Dimension20 "Fantasy High Junior Year"
Episode 8 "Fracas at the Frostyfaire Folk Festival"
Timestamp: 00:12:54
Video Length: 3min. & 20sec.
Adaine casts "Comprehend Languages" on all of the notes that Lydia provided and gets some (bad luck) help from a Cursed Fig Bardic! 😭✋
Brennan: "You can spend a little while to cast it ritually. It will take you a chunk of time. It's the middle of the day. You've got Frostyfaire later tonight."
Siobhan: "Yeah, it's a minute per page. Can I grab Riz and go up and turn around my calendar that I have on my wall, and it's just a blank corkboard?"
Murph: "Great."
Brennan: "Hell yeah."
Ally: "I'll go up there too and just give you both as many Help actions as I can"
Siobhan: "Oh yeah."
Brennan: "Hell yeah, I think the whole gang can tromp on upstairs and jump to it. This feels like the biggest payoff of not being sure that Lydia was even gonna be able to get this stuff. Go ahead, and I'm gonna say there's so many materials here, Adaine with that Comprehend Languages, go ahead and roll either Arcana, History, or Investigation with advantage, and then because Adaine has to translate for everybody, you guys will use Help actions to offset the disadvantage because you guys can't read the text yourself. So if there's any other checks you wanna roll that are Religion, Investigation, whatever, go ahead and roll them straight."
Murph: "I'll roll Investigation."
Brennan: "Cool."
Siobhan: "So I'm rolling with advantage?"
Brennan: "You're rolling with advantage."
Siobhan: "Okay, great."
Zac: "I assume I'm not there? Is it the morning?"
Brennan: "It's morning, but you might have come by. If they texted you, you could have swung by."
Ally: "Yeah, I think we would've."
Brennan: "Yeah."
Ally: "Unless you need to help your parents set up, but I'd imagine they already did everything."
Brennan: "And actually, let me know what your rolls are real quick."
Siobhan: "I got a 17 History."
Emily: "Do you want a Bardic?"
Siobhan: "I would love a Bardic."
Murph: "21 Investigate."
Ally: "If I have advantage in History or Religion, it's still straight, 'cause we would have disadvantage?"
Brennan: "Yes, with a Bardic-"
Siobhan: "With a Bardic from Fig, I got a dirty 20."
Brennan: "Dirty 20 on your History."
Siobhan: "On my History, yeah."
Brennan: "Okay."
Murph: "And I got a 21 Investigate."
Brennan: "21 Investigate, awesome. Kristen, what are you looking at?"
Ally: "11."
Brennan: "11 for Religion. Okay, copy that. So you guys are taking time to pore over the books. Maybe someone shoots Gorgug a text. Adaine, as you begin to read with some of that help from Fig, you feel your stomach gurgle and-"
Siobhan: "Oh no." *gurgling sound*
Emily: *laughing* 😭✋
Brennan: "You feel your stomach gurgle-"
Fig: "Adaine, can I help you?"
Brennan: "Can you go ahead and roll a d100 for me?"
Adaine: "Is anybody feeling weird after that breakfast?"
Kristen: "Hm, no, I thought that was good."
Fig: "Yeah, I think I'm feeling fine."
Siobhan: "I got a 91."
Brennan: "91, okay. As you go to study, you are looking at the book, and as you lean in a little bit closer, there's something moving on the page, in the binding, in the shadow of where the pages sort of fold into each other. And it looks almost like it could be text or writing. As you blow into it, you blow thousands of dust mites into your eyes."
Adaine: *coughing*
Brennan: "You stumble back, slam your head into the bunk bed, and one of the railings comes loose, hits you in the head, and knocks you unconscious."
Murph: "Holy ****!"
Ally: "No! No! I'll do a Medicine check!"
Riz: "Quick, Kristen, do a Medicine check!"
Brennan: "Go ahead and roll with disadvantage. Let me know if any of the dice come up under an eight."
Ally: "Oh, No, no, we're good."
Brennan: "Okay, cool."
Ally: "12."
Lou: "Jesus."
Brennan: "You go stabilize Adaine."
Ally: "So, 21."
Brennan: "21."
