Prompt ‘excuses’ for Dick and Joan please?
excuses - muse a brushes their thumb lightly against muse b’s face to rub some dirt/dust/etc away
Ballet AU, because it's in my head rent-free.
It couldn't have come at a worse time.
Of course it would be the week to promote the extended run and the tour when his ankle gave out - an old injury, playing up just enough that the company doctor ordered him off his feet and out of dancing for three weeks while the inflammation went down. The show must go on - but with a different dancer in his role, holding his Joan.
"I don't like him." They were in the large mirrored practice studio, waiting for the social media team to finish setting up the cameras for the short piece they were doing for Youtube - a chance to reassure ticketholders that the production would still sizzle.
Joan, doing her stretches on the floor near the studio's seats, snorted. "He's very good."
"I know he's very good, but is he good enough for you?"
She rose from the floor to stretch standing up, using his shoulder to steady herself. "We've been rehearsing all week. He's managing."
"Managing isn't good enough."
She scoffed at him, undeterred. "Nothing's good enough for you."
Dick could only smile at that, running his finger lightly over her face to move a smudge out of the way. Joan moved her face slightly, lips brushing the heel of his hand and smiling as she kissed him. A pointed clearing of the throat behind them informed them they were being observed. David Dobie was waiting in the doorway of the studio, bag over one shoulder. He knew they were lucky to get the British dancer, currently on an extended loan from another company - but did everyone have to be excited about it? "Don't be jealous," Joan ordered, a much more subtle version of play nice.
Dick turned around and tried his best to comply. "David."
"Dick. Come to watch?"
He smiled. "I'd say break a leg but it hits a little different at the moment." Dick made a gesture to the airboot.
"The general sentiment is understood." Dobie's smile was determined. "I promise to bring her back in one peice."
You damn well better, was Dick's reply, but he kept it to himself, fitting himself into a chair behind Marj, handy for the social team should they want him for close ups. Then the music started, and the magic began. There was a different physicality here - Dobie was broader in the shoulders and his Rudolf had a barely hidden ferocity that Dick had never been able to find in his own dancing.
Tab sat down behind him, the music swelling to cover them. "What's the internet saying?" Dick asked, voice low.
Tab looked at him with surprised interest. Dick didn't usually set much stock in what all the loud little voices on Tab's instagram feed had to say - but sometimes they were good for a lift. "Well, he's British, so the accent plays for points," Tab offered, obviously trying to spin this. "But he's not you. And -" he smirked here, "-he didn't just get tagged in this smokin' hot picture."
He displayed the phone - his feed, obviously, and a black and white filter, for drama - the place Dick had been just five minutes before, with Joan's lips chasing his hand, the two of their eyes locked together. The replies were predictable, a small slice of Tab's dedicated and demonstrative followers.
HAWT! they r so sexyyyyy. forget that brit dude this is the stuff omg tab u did not how are u liek this When is Winters coming back, for reals?
Tab smirked. "He ain't got nothing on you, Frosty."

finally figured out why nt3.51 kept getting corrupted. it wasn’t any kind of boot manager or driver problem it was... windows 2000
the first time windows 2000 saw nt3.51 it upgraded it’s filesystem to ntfs 5.0. ntfs5.0 is not compatible with windows nt 3.51. no matter what you do, windows 2000 will always upgrade any ntfs partitions it comes into contact with to the ntfs 5.0. this isn’t a problem with nt 4.0 because after service pack 6 it supports ntfs 5.0. the only solution i had was to install nt3.51 on a fat16 partition, but now everything is working!
except i cant boot into windows 98 yet. still working on that one. now that i know the nt3.51 problem wasn’t due to a weird boot menu thing i might go back to using airboot instead of my two boot menu system jumping from os/2 boot manager to windows 2000 boot menu.

I have 2 question for you! 1. - (I don't know if this has been asked, but) What does Asriel see in Mettaton that irritates him? 2. - How's your ankle?
1 - answered here.
2- better! ive been upgraded to an ankle brace instead of a big airboot now. walking isnt painful at all unless i specifically twist my foot a certain way, even if i do still slightly limp.

So there’s a woman in my neighborhood who also uses a cane, and the other day I gave her the head nod and said, “Somebody’s got to make these look good.”
She smiled, and this morning she stopped and asked what I broke. (I’m still wearing an airboot, so it’s clearly an injury and not a chronic condition.)  I told her- fifth metatarsal- and she told me she’d had a hip replacement put in.
Yay healing buddies?  I feel like we should start a club and meet at the local breakfast place for waffles and ice packs.
Also, free piece of advice:  Take your calcium kids.  Get your bone density tested every five years if you’re on anticonvulsants, bc this shit sucks.

New Orleans: klinkt als muziek in mijn oren!
Gezellige drukte dus. De bekendste straat in New Orleans is Bourbon street. You’re on your own, good luck.
