Robin tried her best not to dream about that possibility. After all, she had already gotten way too lucky to have her idol in her life.

Robin checked her phone for the thousandth time, waiting for a reply from Nancy. But as her screen lit up, she saw nothing but her lock screen. It had been a mere 9 hours since she last received a text from Nancy. She could survive 9 hours without Nancy. She had to.

Robin checked her phone again when the doorbell rang out, echoing through her too empty apartment. She dropped the phone on the couch and got up, shuffling to the door. On the other side stood Nancy Wheeler, her hair wet and dripping raindrops on the floor.

“It’s raining,” she stated as her eyes stared into Robin’s face.

“Nance? What are you doing here? Come in, come here.” Robin pulled her in, nearly hugging her. “I’m going to get you a towel… And— and some dry clothes. You should shower. I thought you were in LA.”

“I just got back. I— Robin, I need to speak with you.”

Robin stopped running around, a pink towel in her hand that nearly dropped to the floor as she saw the expression on Nancy’s face. “Okay.”

“I—” Nancy frowned. “I don’t know where to start.”

“Maybe at the beginning,” Robin offered.

“I don’t know if there is a beginning. And I’m hoping this isn’t the end. I just feel like there is middle. Everything has been the middle. I can’t start at the beginning because there isn’t one. There is just you.”

“Me?”

Nancy nodded, taking a deep breath. “There is just you. And then there is me. And I’m hoping you and me could be an us.” Nancy’s teeth were digging into her bottom lip and Robin worried she’d draw blood.

“What are you—” Realization dawned on her. Nancy’s doe eyes and nervous expressions might have not been enough, but her words were clear. “Oh.”

Nancy nodded again, barely. “Do you think—”

“Yes. I like that. I’d really like to be an us.”

Nancy’s lips turned into a bright smile as she closed the distance between them and pressed their lips together.

“I wrote you a song,” Robin said about two weeks after their first kiss.

They were laying in Nancy’s bed, cuddling and kissing. It had been heavenly to be cooped up in Nancy’s flat the entire day. It had been marvelous to sink into her mattress and feel her lips all over her body. And now Robin was enjoying the warmth of her girlfriend.

“You wrote me a song?” Nancy asked with a soft voice.

“I did.”

“That is so sweet.” Robin could hear the smile in Nancy’s voice.

“I was hoping you would be in the video.”

“I would love to be in the video.”

They had agreed to keep their relationship to themselves until the video came out. Which Robin knew, logically speaking, wasn’t very long. It was supposed to be released in less than a month time so it would align with Nancy’s premiere.

But Robin was ecstatic about her new situation, and she had lasted about 3 days after they had agreed. It had at first been a slip of the thumb. She had taken this adorable picture of Nancy and couldn’t not post it. Maybe she could have used a more ambiguous caption than ‘gf reveal’ but she had slipped up. It was Nancy’s fault for being so cute.

It was only when no one believed her that she kept going, that she kept tweeting about Nancy and her dating. Not that it helped.

“They still don’t believe me. It’s insane.”

Nancy laughed softly. “At least I know it’s true.,” she said as she pulled the phone out of Robin’s hands and crawled onto her lap.

The premiere of Nancy’s movie was scheduled for Friday. The music video was going to drop Thursday. Robin smiled as she thought about it. But tonight, on this beautiful Monday evening, Nancy was curled up into her side as they watched the Late Night Show together. Nancy was on this episode and when she was announced Robin cheered at the screen, much to her girlfriend’s amusement.

“So, we have to ask, is there anyone special you are taking to the premiere on Friday?”

“Well, actually, there is,” screen Nancy answered, and Robin’s eyes widened. “I’ll be taking my girlfriend, Robin Buckley.”

Nancy’s arms tightened around Robin’s waist. “So, I may have told the world.”

“Yeah,” Robin replied, nodding at the screen, not even registering the reaction from the audience.

“You’re not mad, are you?” Nancy looked up with those soft doe eyes.

“Mad? Why would I be mad? I’m delighted. I’ve been talking about it for ages now. All I wanted was you and for the whole world to know.” She lowered her face to press a kiss on her girlfriend’s lips.

I remember 9/12/20 like it was yesterday because the entire day was chaos. I saw his IG story live and didn’t notice it at first. Opened up twitter and people were freaking the fuck out. Went back to IG and the story was still up and screenshot the last part of his story. I love over all the photos in the camera roll and hello 🍆 I went back to IG and the story was still there! It was up for a good 15-20 minutes. It finally gets deleted and fans are trying to make him trend for anything else. They were making rapid posts trying to hide the picture, but it’s too late it already spread. It is him in the picture. Someone took it and blew up the photo and lightened in and it looks like it was taken on his bed in his master bedroom in MA. The screen recording of a video you have in your camera roll doesn’t make sense to me, but he’s never been tech savvy. It was definitely more accidental than hers.

The reason I'm suspicious about the pic is because the rest of the photos in the gallery is SO random 👀

It looks more like pics people would have sent to you... you know? It's also under "recent" and it seems weird to me that he would have one lone dickpic in black and white.

That's not what your gallery looks like if you've just done a lil sexy nudey shoot to send to your fuckbuddies, you know what I mean? Also just the fact it was black and white..... why??? And cut the way it was.....

It is very interesting indeed. I can understand he cut out his upper body to erase any risk of it being spread by the person receiving it bc his tattoos would give him away (lol that didn't work out for him) but idk

I think people being angry on twitter is weird because

1) I know that it's unfair ( IF it was genuinely the couple's decision ) but at the same time, the posts including TZP calling himself by his husband's name were public, someone was gonna uncover sooner rather than later with him blowing up. They definitely didn't go lengths at making the relationship private of everything is out and in the open so I don't think hiding was really what they really wanted it's either his PR team and management to make him seem straight OR like the last anon said he just likes to keep things separate so doesn't talk. I know a handful of celebrities with full families who steer clear of that topic in public because the families aren't public figures themselves.

2) I don't think people ( and by people I mean kids and just chronically online adults ) realise there's a difference in outing as in going snooping and posting information that that particular person in question never approved of VS finding out posts and pictures from that person's own social media accounts that's public lol.

Squashing the conversation doesn't really make sense because I actually haven't seen anyone be malicious about it. It's mostly just oh I didn't realise he was married or I didn't know he was Queer. It's also very unrealistic to control it over the internet.

Yep, if they were trying to hide it they didn’t really do a good job of it. It's easy information to find if you know where to look. It's not like he was doxxed or anything. And marriage records are fully public records. It would have been hard to hide over time.

I think most of his fans just don't know how to react. There is no protocol for this lol. Stay quiet or talk about it? Acknowledge it or stay living in your fantasy? I saw a twitter account who ships taylor with louis (don't even ask...) just keep on keeping on with the taylor and louis imagines. I was a bit surprised because i know she knows, but at the same time i was like 'you go girl, you keep doing you'! I've only seen people take it well too, so i think it will be fine. It would just be better if he talked about it so we don’t get fans policing other fans not to talk about it and thus creating frandom fractions and bad fandom environment. It's up to him though.

You definitely didn’t hallucinate the practice of blurring non-celebs’ faces in photos. It’s 2022–the idea of gatekeeping any image you post on the internet is absurd. Calling you out then making a big show of withholding other pictures from the event is a really juvenile, territorial, vindictive, and toxic way to participate in a fandom. You have nothing to apologize for.

What’s curious to me is the twitter outrage, at first, was mostly centered around me putting a sticker over the fan’s face, but then when I immediately apologized, offered my reason for doing what I did, and deleted the post, the outrage is now more centered around me not asking permission to post the picture, and not crediting the source, which, I do believe is valid criticism in the sense that that is what is polite to do, but in the age of the internet, any photo with a celebrity that gets published to a public platform (as opposed to shared within private dms, or on a private twitter, etc.) is now public, and people can and will republish/redistribute those photos on instagram, twitter, tumblr, etc. with impunity, and not always while maintaining credit to the proper source, because the “rights” of the photograph are generally those of public domain images, despite copyright law still recognizing the owner of the photo. It’s as if the photo was taken by paparazzi, essentially—the Getty photographer’s name is usually associated with the picture on the original site itself, but that doesn’t mean it’s common practice for fans to add the photographer’s name to their descriptions and tag them on instagram. Further, twitter’s terms of use dictate that once a photo is shared on twitter: “by submitting, posting, or displaying content on or through the services, you grant worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, copy, reproduce, process, adapt, modify, publish, transmit, display, and distribute such content on any and all media or distribution methods (now known or later developed.”

This is all to say: was it impolite to modify and republish the image without giving credit to the source? Yes. Does it violate terms of service? No. In fact, I did exactly what twitter outlines is fair use.

They also changed their tweet response to my apology to add that I’m using the photo for my own content “& engagement.” Why delete the original tweet to add “& engagement?” At the time of me deleting the Melbourne photo, the photo had not been engaged with hardly at all…? Perhaps two likes? And one reblog from an angry friend adding the source? That’s hardly any engagement at all, and when I saw the outrage, I immediately deleted it when I realized there was genuine upset over it. I gained absolutely nothing from posting that photo, and did not post it with the intention of personal gain or “engagement”…? Let’s be real—tumblr is not the platform where “engagement” drives literally anything, except perhaps for gifsets and art. There is no algorithm I’m trying to hit with someone else’s photo. I was simply, in my mind, recording Miranda Otto’s presence at the Melbourne Film Festival on my Miranda Otto-centric blog, which is used these days largely as an archive and a place to post announcements of new projects. I put the sticker on the photo to ensure I wasn’t broadcasting someone’s face who is not a public figure to thousands of my followers. Now that I know that specific person would prefer me not to do that, I will not do so with their photos again, but it bears repeating that that is because I want to be polite, and avoid outrage—not because doing what I did went against terms of service or even general internet practice.

Regardless, my original apology stands, and I will not be sharing any content of cursedsapphic’s in the future.
