There is no fucking way that the devs for splatoon aren't aware of the problem, like, they even removed the votes from the sneak peek but like, they aren't willing to fix the ACTUAL problem that is the non-regional votes.

A part of me wished they had fixed that sooner because its SO OBVIOUS who would have won if it were regional, but no, it's shiver everytime and we don't even stand a chance against her :/

And the worst part is that if they do not fix this before the final fest, I fear of what it might become.

Idk, it's kinda....sad, really, like...ugh, it just all feel so hopeless now....

You hadn't always lived in Bowsers kingdom. All you knew was that you wanted to forget your past, so you never thought about it.

You were like the better version of Kamek, helping him out with him trying to capture the princess.

You first realized your feelings when he was going on and on about Princess Peach. You never liked hearing about it.

When you went to sleep that night you were up tossing and turning, thinking about how he'd be better off with someone who actually cared for him, not a princess who wants to destroy him and his empire.

You sit up,

"Oh my stars."

That's when you realized you were the one that had feelings for him, if only it were you he was going after.

You get up from the day and make your way down the corridor to the kitchen to fix yourself a glass of water.

As you're almost finished gulping down the drink, you hear footsteps reach the door frame, and you jump as the shadowed figure is right behind you.

"Sorry, didn't mean to scare you." You hear a low growl,

'Wonderful.' You thought he was the last person you wanted to be confronted by at the moment. You felt your stomach go queasy, and you face go pale.

"Are you sick?" He asks, you shake your head, holding in your breath.

He noticed you staring him down, then he thought back of how weird you've been acting recently. He wanted to tease you for, but he knew how terrible that'd make you feel.

You honestly couldn't tell that he'd already figured you out. You genuinely thought that he just assumed you were sick,

"I'm going to go back to bed now."

You shove past him and speed walk back to your room in the castle.

That's when he decided to lay off Peach for a while.

The kongs had always been family friends. If you weren't in your kingdom, you were most likely Kong Kingdom.

Donkey Kong had been your closest friend for as long as you can remember. There really wasn't a time when the two of you weren't together.

You'd root him on when he was in the ring. You would also comfort him all the time when his dad wouldn't give him his much needed attention.

Loving attention, to be exact, not everything his fans would smother him in.

The both of you were sitting up on a cliff above the water as he went on and on about how his dad would never appreciate all of the things he did.

You leaned on his shoulder and continued to listen to him vent. All you could think about was how much better things would be if the two of you were actually together.

This wasn't the first time you've thought of this. You're not saying that you could be better than his own father, but at the same time you had always been there to comfort him.

You had also thought about what it would be like to be labeled as his, not just his friend. You'd be his partner.

"Y/N?"

You came out of your trance and totally forgot about where you were, "I'm sorry, what is it?"

"What do you think I should do?"

You didn't answer his question for a second time, looking into his eyes. He noticed this nearly immediately. The way your breath hitched covered your cheeks that felt way too warm.

He sent you a smirk and looked away. He wanted to say something about it but didn't want you to feel embarrassed, although it'd be funny.

You let out an awkward cough and got up, "I think I should be on my way home. It's getting late."

He wanted to protest, but he just let you go. He gave you a hug before running off, causing you to tense up.

When you left, he couldn't stop thinking about what just happened, causing him to question his own feelings.

Fuma ✧ Don’t go into the tall grass

✧ &Team Fuma x gn!reader ✧ words: ~2k ✧ genre: domestic fluff, some humor ✧ warnings: none

Desc.: In which your boyfriend Fuma teaches you how to play Pokemon and he doesn’t expect you to like it so much.

Author’s note: this was totally not written for @tomorrowxneverland who has never played Pokemon in her life <3 …yeah I got a little carried away while writing this, it wasn’t supposed to be nearly this long aklsjdöflksa but I hope you enjoyyy~!!!

“What…?” You watch as your boyfriend’s expression changes, his mouth opening and closing several times as the shock on his face grows, and eventually he manages to form words into a sentence. “What do you mean, you’ve never played Pokemon?!”

“I… have never played Pokemon is what I mean by that.”

“Yes, no, but!” Fuma attempts to say something, but his brain fails him. He’s been excitedly rambling about the topic for almost an hour now, and it’s not that you don’t like listening to him when he gets really into it. It’s just that you never really got the chance nor had any interest in playing the games when you were a kid, and so you have close to zero knowledge about Pokemon - except for a few names you’ve memorized as he was telling you about his collection, and, of course Pikachu, because who doesn’t know Pikachu? And now that you’ve reached a point in the conversation where he decided to ask you about your favourite Pokemon, you just couldn’t avoid addressing the elephant in the room anymore. 

“So yeah,” you start talking in hopes of helping the gears up in his head running smoothly again. “That’s why I can’t really tell you what my favourite is. Or who I always had on my team when playing because… I never did.”

“Well this is a huge problem…” He lifts his hand up to his face, covering half of his mouth as he seems to be sinking into thought, surrounded by some of his Pokemon plushies that he’s spread out on the floor as he was giving you some information about them. 

“What?” you snort. “Can’t date someone who’s never played Pokemon?” Your teasing is met with a strong reaction, your boyfriend immediately waving both his hands in front of his chest and shaking his head.

“Of course not!” he assures. “But… do you want to try? I think I have my old Nintendo somewhere here…”

“I mean… sure, why not?” you agree, and Fuma immediately jumps to his feet to take a few steps towards his wardrobe. Rummaging through a few boxes stored at the very bottom of it, it takes him only a few minutes to pull out the small game console, along with the charger and a rectangular box that can only be a Pokemon game. You’re amused by the few seconds of suspense as he tries to turn it on after sitting down next to you, and the sigh of relief that follows as the two screens light up. 

“Okay… I actually didn’t make all that much progress here so… it should be fine… to start a new game…” he mumbles more to himself than you, but the distress in his voice is evident.

“It’s fine, we can also play where you left off-” you attempt to assure him, but he’s already in the process of resetting the save file. 

“It’s fine,” he repeats. “I played the other version more, so that’s the one I’m really attached to.” You don’t really get what he’s saying, but you’re at least glad about the smile he’s showing you now. And then he starts the game for you and hands you the console.

The first few minutes are pretty self explanatory. You press A to advance in dialogue and tell the game whether you want to play as a girl or a boy and what your name is. There’s some old guy explaining stuff about the fictional world you’re about to enter, and that he’s a professor of some sort, and next thing you know you find your avatar waking up in what must be their room. For now your boyfriend is merely watching what you’re doing, but you can tell he’s using everything he has to keep himself from going on an excited rant and spoiling the entire story of the game for you. 

You don’t really pay much attention to the dialogue, wanting to get to the part where you get to catch some Pokemon soon, and luckily Fuma is right there to hint at what you should do next. You reach the part of the game where you have to walk out of what’s supposed to be your home village and follow your in-game friend.

“But I wanna go over there…” you protest, steering your avatar to the right. 

“Ah, you shouldn’t!” Fuma warns you.

“Why?”

“Didn’t you listen to your mother? There’s wild Pokemon in the tall grass, so you shouldn’t go in there yet!”

“But… if I wanna catch some, shouldn’t I go there…?”

“Yes, later,” he explains. “But you don’t have a single Pokemon on your team yet, and you need one to help you catch more!”

“And where do I get that…?” you ask, causing your boyfriend to chuckle at your impatience.

“Just keep playing for now. You’ll get there soon enough.” 

And just like he said, you do. You choose your starter Pokemon solely based on which of the three looks the cutest to you - Fuma praises you for your choice and explains that the first gym will be easy to beat with the one you picked - and complete your first battle without much trouble. The game teaches you the mechanics anyway, but still you have your boyfriend next to you telling you what to do if you’re unsure. 

“Is it fun?” he asks as the game is going over to the next day. 

“Yeah,” you answer absentmindedly, focusing your attention on the device in your hands. You hear him laughing softly at the image in front of him, and then he watches you play some more.

Eventually you get to the point where you have three Pokemon in your team, and somehow the directions your boyfriend is giving you are getting on your nerves a bit.

“It’s fine!” you tell him. “I think I got it now, let me try playing by myself!”

“Okay, okay…” he says, going quiet as he observes you. You run towards the next city you’re supposed to go to, and you don’t pay much mind to the two newly caught Pokemon both fainting, as your boyfriend had assured you earlier that you can always have them healed again. 

“I think it’s about time you-”

“I know,” you interrupt his attempted warning, not noticing how he watches your next move anxiously. Thanks to your starter Pokemon you manage to win the next fight, but now you find yourself wondering whether you should go back to the last village to heal them or keep walking towards the next one.

“Uhm, actually…” you speak up. “How far until I reach the next… uh… hospital?”

“The next city is still a bit away…” he willingly helps you. “But turning back is risky too. Don’t you have potions left?” You shake your head no. “I see… then you should probably go back to the last Pokemon center.”

“Okay.” So you turn around and you move, running right into a patch of tall grass, when you hear your boyfriend exclaiming next to you,

“Nooo, don’t r-... oh.” He lets out a sound of resignation as a wild Pokemon encounter gets triggered and you hear the unsettling warning sound signaling that your Pokemon only has a couple of HP left.

“So what do I do now?” you ask.

“Well, since you don’t have any potions left you’re gonna lose the battle and faint and then wake up at the last Pokemon center you visited,” Fuma explains calmly.

“Oh… and is that bad? Like, are there any consequences, like do I lose all my Pokemon?”

“No,” Fuma lets out a short laugh. “Nothing bad actually happens, aside from the humiliation of losing at a kid’s game.” You shoot him an empty look as the screen of the console in your hands goes black and it causes him to chuckle. “I’m kidding, it’s okay,” he says, now speaking softly and he extends his hand to pat your head once. “Just so you know for next time - Pokemon tend to appear more if you run through tall grass instead of walking slowly.”

“Oh…”

“It’s fine, everyone learns the hard way that you should always carry enough potions with you and better turn back sooner rather than later to get your team healed. But also…” He puts an arm around your shoulders and then points his chin at the window in his room. “I think it’s about time we get some food.”

“No.” Your immediate response makes him chuckle.

“No?”

“Just until I’m at the first gym.” And now Fuma laughs, leaning back and stretching his back with his hands up in the air.

“That will take waaaaay too long,” he explains. “I’ll have starved by then.”

“Then you get some food and I stay here.”

“Y/N,” he calls out your name, trying to sound strict but he still ends up talking more softly than he wants. “You need to eat well if you want to become the Champ!”

“The what?” 

“Right, you don’t know what that is either…” He lets out a sigh. And then, after a second of collecting his thoughts, he reaches out to capture your chin between his thumb and index finger, turning your head to make you look at him properly. “I’ll explain that to you while we’re eating, okay?”

“Hmpf…” You pout at him like a five year old would as their mom tells them to stop playing a game, but the smile he shows you as his gaze slowly wanders down to your lips stirs up an entirely different set of emotions deep within you.

“Come on,” he says. “We can play more later.”

“Only if I get a kiss…” you try to bargain, but Fuma just laughs at you and then he gets up.

“Come get it then,” he says, walking towards the door of his room slowly, giving you enough time to rise to your feet as well and to catch up with him. He willingly lets you spin him around as you reach him, and he meets you in the middle as you lean in to kiss him. His lips move against yours gently as he sets the pace and you have your palms placed on his shoulders to hold onto him. Too soon does he pull away, shooting you a grin that tells you you fell into his trap, but when you kiss him again you catch him off guard. And then, once you part you spin on your heels and walk back to where you had put the game console.

“Go get some food now,” you say, sitting back down and returning your full attention to the game. “I’ll tell you if I get stuck somewhere.” You hear your boyfriend letting out a massive sigh of disbelief over how him trying to trick you turned into him getting tricked himself. However, he knows any effort to try and convince you one more time to put the game down would only be in vain, so he simply accepts it and disappears out the door. 

You don’t think much of it anymore, simply focusing on the game in front of you, but when a few minutes later you hear him entering the room again, you look up in surprise.

“Not eating? Oh.” He sits down right next to you with a bowl of more leftovers than he can eat by himself, and as he holds out a bite to you, you find yourself grinning from ear to ear.

“Thanks,” you mumble, accepting the food he’s holding out to you, and bumping your head into his shoulder as you continue to play.

Telling People, You're a couple. | The Group Chat Head canons | Pt.2

Soft willy- you and nick have been dating for almost 2 months now. It's still crazy to you that you have this man, I mean come one look at him he is the definition of what everyone wants to be or be with. respectful, good height, nice built, the funniest person you have ever met, sweet and caring nick was all these things; which is why you were kinda scared of telling people you were a couple.

It's not like you were the most horrible person to look at but you in your mind you just thought you were okay nothing special just your average joe, but to nick you were the most beautiful person he'd ever met so of course he wanted to show everyone how special he is to have you in his life. Ever since you guys started dating he's been trying to get your approval to tell his fans but you still felt a little anxious on the idea so nicked eventually stopped asking to respect your decision. 

One day you and nick were at a burger place eating lunch talking about his new album. “I don't know what I really want for the cover but I was kinda thinking if you would be able to pose for it?” Nick said looking hopeful at you “Nick I don't know, what if people connect the dots? I'm already on most of the tracks. It would be weird if I am also on the cover.”. He had to admit it would be kinda obvious but that was the whole point, he was happy that you were there to help accomplish the album and it would just be even more awesome if he got to see your face on the front of it all

“Here your refill sir” the waitress interrupted yours and nick conversation with a smile “oh thanks” “if you need anything, and i mean anything else just let me know” the waitress was basically eye fucking nick while saying her little beg of attention from nick. This mad you fucking livid like who  does she think she is talking to a random man like this and in front of his girlfriend out of all people.

“Thanks but i'm good” Nick let out an uncomfortable laugh while trying not to look at her anymore. You had to admit this girl was pretty but you were definitely better looking than her and that's all you needed in the moment to make a decision that went against your words. “You know what?I will pose for the cover "what do i have to hide” for the rest of the day. Nick couldn't stop thanking you and asking if you were sure about this but you already agreed and can't go back on it now.

Two weeks later you and Nick were drinking and  trying to think of all the different types of ways to take pictures. Since the songs on the album were based off of video games more specifically the games you could only play on the Nintendo DS you came up with  the idea of taking them on a DS. After three hours  later you and Nick finally captured the right picture to put on the album.

A couple of days passed, and Nick had posted the cover as a promotion which was the picture of you on a DS with a bold light blue font that read “Digital Dreams”. 

(This is sorta what I was going for. obvious if you don't like it you can totally imagine something else. Also credit to whoever these beautiful people are , I am jealous.)

In the caption of the post Nick had credited all the people who worked on the album including you but did it a completely different way. “I also want to thank my amazing partner for helping me throughout the process and even being on the album front and in the song @ ur username  i love you.”

You were surprised at the amount of people who were so supportive of you guys, of course there were some people who weren't, but you couldn't care. You were just happy that Nick was happy.

Larry-  you were getting some food for you and Larry because he said he hasn't eaten all day. You and Larry have been dating for almost a month and it was the best thing that has happened to you in a while. Everyday with him was so much fun and the group was accepting of you for dating their friend.

You had gotten him and you something small because Nick and Tanner wanted you and Larry to go with them to dinner later but since Larry didn't eat you just grabbed something while you were out so he wouldn't be so hungry later. You had stepped into the house looking for Larry but he was in his room doing the podcast with the others.

You knocked on his door which he called out for you to open “dude you didn't have to do that thank you so much” “no problem it wasn't a bother to me”. You walked up to his desk to set the food down “hi everyone” you waved to all of the boys in the call which they waved back. 

You stood there for a couple more minutes talking to them before you left to go be on your phone and leave them back with their work. Almost 45 minutes later Nick, Larry, and Tanner came out so you guys could go to dinner and have a fun night out. 

You woke up the next morning in Larry's bed since you didn't want to drive home  last night. You see Larry at his desk looking at the podcast comments, you walk up to him and put a hand on his shoulder “so do they love me” you let out a small laugh. “They love you alright, it seems like they love you more than me” “well in that case switch me jobs, i would love to make dumb jokes all day “. you guys shared a laugh and a few more while looking at the comments. You were glad that the people who loved him were happy that he was with you.

After a painful argument with EJ and you crying in his chest for a long time, you fell asleep in his arms because you were tired of crying for more than an hour.

When he saw you sleeping on his chest, EJ closed his eyes and bit his lip quite hard, as if to suppress the excruciating pain. He also felt the pain of having said hurtful words to you without realizing it.

EJ carried you to his room, placing you gently on his bed. He took off your clothes to change into his pajamas. Don't forget, he put socks on you so you don't get cold. He also covers you slowly. After handling you, EJ kissed your forehead for a long time then joined you on the bed. Slowly holding you tightly, trying not to wake you.

~The next morning~

EJ woke up to the sound of his alarm, when he turned off the alarm, he didn't find you in his bed. He hurriedly got out of bed and came out of his room to see and hope you didn't go home.

Just coming down the stairs of his house, he saw you pouring orange juice and boxed milk on the table. The tempting aroma of toast also smelled warm. EJ was relieved when he thought you weren't coming home.

EJ walked over to you towards the dining table. When you saw EJ, you were still nervous because of the unpleasant incident last night. "I'm sorry for touching your kitchen, EJ. I just don't want to be a burden guest in your house, therefore, I took the initiative to make you breakfast, even though it's simple," Seeing that you were still nervous about him, EJ smiled bitterly and thought he was that bad last night. ""I wouldn't be angry if you also burned down my kitchen," EJ said jokingly while gently stroking your hair. Even though EJ looks fine, you still feel guilty for him. "I'm sorry about what happened last night, EJ. I should have understood, but I was being childish," EJ actually responded to your apology with a long kiss on your lips. Making you quite tense. After giving you a kiss EJ smiled slightly. "You don't need to apologize, I learned that you always want attention from me, and I don't mind that. I should be the one apologizing for hurting you and feeling superior," EJ kissed you again gently, this time you also kissed him back.

The kiss turns into a hot make-out session, and over time the two of you feel passionate. And it leads to hot sex in the kitchen when EJ corners you near the counter.

• FUMA

Fuma grimaced in pain as you cleaned the blood from his torn lip. Meanwhile, you cried while you were treating him. Your blind blow made you lose control of course and ended up hitting Fuma's lips as hard as possible with the Nintendo that you were holding.

The blow resulted in his lip being torn and bleeding quite a lot, maybe he was hit by a rather sharp part on this Nintendo, what's more, your punch was really that strong.

"Sorry sorry sorry and sorry, Fuma! I'm sorry, I was mean to you," You were sobbing and your hands were shaking quite a lot while treating him. Seeing you cry like that, Fuma felt even more guilty and hurt. "Honey, no need to apologize. I'm okay, I should be the one apologizing. I was the one who hurt you earlier, you were also hurt because of my actions," Fuma said softly, but you still felt very guilty. "No, I shouldn't have hurt you until you bled, Fuma. I hurt you," Fuma smiled bitterly because you were really blaming yourself, even though you were just fighting back. Fuma sighed, he slowly held your left arm which was sprained by him earlier. "This is what I did, right? I hurt you too, what you did earlier was just fighting back. Even if you push me until I get hurt in other areas, it doesn't matter, darling," Fuma said softly, you who also looked weak immediately fell into his arms. You cried quite hysterically into his chest.

Fuma closed his eyes because this was the first time you could cry this hard, and the first person to do that to you was your own boyfriend, himself.

Don't forget, Fuma also treats your left arm. He even took you to a therapy doctor to make sure your hands were fine.

• KEI (K)

You were treated for several days at the Hybe health clinic. And the one who is almost 100% looking after you there is Kei, your parents can't always be in the Hybe building. So, they entrusted you to Kei.

"Tomorrow I will ask for a letter of resignation as a trainee," Kei, who was cutting fruit for you, immediately looked at you. He sighed. "Y/N, are you still thinking about what I said, darling? You hate me so much that you don't want to continue your dream?" Hearing Kei's question, you shook your head. "I just don't want to throw myself into a place that isn't really for my success. You're right, I would only embarrass those closest to me if I still persisted," Kei felt very insulted when you said that. He was the first to say that he was embarrassed that you were his girlfriend who might fail to debut. "I never hated you either, Kei. I think stopping chasing my dream of becoming an idol was the right decision. I also don't want to waste another opportunity," You said that with a faint smile.

Deep inside your heart, you still want to achieve your dream. But if you are really persistent and reckless, it can cause harm to those around you. "Even though I won't be a trainee anymore, I will live a normal life and still support you, Kei. Supporting you as a successful idol, one day if our relationship is made public, I will show you that I am proud of you. Vice versa, I hope it's like that," Your words immediately made Kei sob softly. He felt very guilty because he had made you back away from your dream. Even though you were also hurt by him, you still supported him with your love. Even your hope that you can make him proud is enough to make his heart ache. Your dreams stop because of it.

• NICHOLAS

You sat Nicholas on the sofa at his house after the two of you had just arrived from the hospital. You were the one who initially hit Nicholas, resulting in an almost fatal incident. It was all because of your increasingly explosive emotions. You pushed Nicholas as hard as you could until he hit the wall and his head was bleeding. Of course it required hospital treatment, his head was immediately bandaged and thankfully it was not fatal.

"I'll get you some water," you said fearfully to him, but before you could actually leave, Nicholas grabbed your hand, and you fell in his lap. When he fell in his lap, Nicholas' eyes were very sad and full of regret. He caressed your cheek. "You're very hurt, but why are you paying more attention to my wound, Angel?" Nicholas said hoarsely, he was really hurt and angry at himself for slapping you. "I hurt you more than that, Nicholas. Your head was injured because of me, I should have been handed over to the authorit—"

"SHHH!—" Nicholas immediately cut you off because you said that. "What are you saying?! You will always be with me here, no one can do that. Including me," Instead of answering Nicholas' question, you hugged him tightly, sobbing into his shoulder. Saying sorry words that made him even more hurt. If only he hadn't slapped you, you wouldn't be in this pain, you even blamed yourself.

On the one hand, I definitely noticed that TotK's Ganondorf was more preoccupied with his appearance, not necessarily in a stereotypical "vain villain who never shuts up about how beautiful they are" or a "gym bro who spends more time checking himself out in the mirror than actually working out" sense, but in a "he's very conscious about the image he projects and wants to maintain careful control of how other people see him at all times" way. I'm glad I've got confirmation that I wasn't just seeing things. Also, that TotK discusses how he uses attractiveness to manipulate people, as implied with how he portrayed "Princess Zelda," had some really interesting implications about his life as the Gerudo king and his personality and skills in reading people that Nintendo never followed up on, because god forbid we give this character any recognizable traits that could inspire curiosity about who he is as a person or discussions about gender roles in ways that aren't "He pretends to be a cute little white girl because he's an Evil Degenerate."

On the other hand...it kind of contributes to the way I've been weirded out by how the game itself treated him and how certain fans treat him. The game itself made a lot of effort to dehumanize and un-person this man as a character even while making his human form visually appealing. The fans themselves are celebrating this a validation of their seeing him as a sex symbol, calling him "a bi icon" because both men and women are attracted to him, etc.

Like...there's all this discussion about Ganon's appearance and how sexy people find him, but not much consideration of what *he* might want, or how he feels, or what he's attracted to. I know that's kind of a goofy question to ask about a fictional character who can't really have opinions on things beyond what the writers give him, but...it's just kind of...objectifying?

For example, I don't take any issue with headcanons that Ganon might be bisexual, or at least enjoys the attention he gets from people of any gender, since I've got my own headcanons about him being queer, but I do get weirded out by the assumption that just because both men and women find him attractive that means he *must* reciprocate their desires and be bisexual. It's the same thing that weirds me out about fan art pre-release that portrayed him as this airheaded himbo jock because fans wanted to ogle his sexy body without having to deal with his intelligence, his anger, his negative qualities, or his potential dangerousness.

There's this tendency to objectify him in both the game, whether as a "monster" to slay to prove the player/Link's mettle as a hero, or as a trophy to symbolize Rauru's dominon over the frontier territories of his kingdom. And then there's a tendency to objectify him in fandom, presenting him as a pinup devoid of his original personality, or trying to shape him into a "good Ganondorf" that the fans would actually like to be friends with by sanding off all his sharp edges so they can access his body, which they find beautiful, without having to deal with the parts that might complicate that or that they'd dislike.

Fandom as a whole seems to have a blind spot when it comes to the objectification of masculine characters, particularly because it's like, "Oh, BOYS can't be objectified! Only pretty (white) ladies can get objectified!" Nevermind that objectification is a phenomenon that's super commonly done to nonwhite men in tandem with the more overt and violent dehumanization that comes with racism, especially men with darker skin. And there doesn't seem to be much of an interest in exploring what that might mean for Ganondorf as a character, whether just as discussing double-consciousnesses and exploiting expectations to manipulate people, or to explore how being treated like a piece of meat or a pretty ornament who exists only for other people's pleasure can really warp a person.

I guess...this is something I've been thinking about since playing Slay the Princess, which asks a lot of questions about objectification, how people's complexity can be dismissed and ignored when they're shoved into the Love Interest archetype, and how being limited in this way in the eyes of others can seriously hurt and warp someone even if it's being done in the "nicest," most paternalistic and "benevolent" way possible. It presents the core relationship as being a fundamentally unequal power balance; no matter how fearsome and terrifying the imprisoned party becomes, she is always at your mercy, she lives and dies based on the choices you make, and the "nicer" routes are potentially just her saying what she knows you want to hear and auditioning for your sympathy because like it or not you're her warden. It also forces you to ask yourself what makes you come to love somebody, and to consider the possibility of loving somebody while also acknowledging their thorny, messy, contradictory, and dangerous parts. I wish I could see more works considering this for Ganon, as opposed to regurgitating tired old "Destroy This Mad Brute" tropes or turning him into a "safe," palatable, easy-to-digest love interest.

He's a minor character with a surprising amount of depth when u look into it!! But he is also a Cop (derogatory) and I feel a lot of people take the few things we know about him and twist it into an entirely different entity separate from the source material. I think he's an interesting character and should also be catapulted into the sun <3

This could not be more of a divisive character in this Fandom, which is hilarious considering he doesn't even have that much screen time. He is either seen as the devil incarnate or a poor little baby who's so sad! Being a fan of him means it's just best to block his tag here on Tumblr otherwise you'll tear your hair out at how frustratingly people misrepresent his purpose in the story.

Dark Pit

Most of Dark Pit's mischaracterization comes from the fact that he's in SSBU- everyone assumes he's like every other nintendo clone; evil and just a 'bad' version of the original. But he's not!! Even the characters in his own game think he's just cruel by nature, when he's never actually done anything wrong. He's a dick, yes, but wouldn't you be a bit pissy if you kept getting dragged into a war you want no part in, called a name crafted specifically to belittle your own existence?

Dark Pit was created when Pit, the original, was on a mission to destroy a mirror that would copy anything that stood before it, since the villians were using it to create an army. It's incredibly important to note that it does NOT create 'evil' versions or even just copy the body and leave the personality at home. It's a 1:1 conversion. Unfortunately, the villians also knew Pit would destroy the mirror quite directly, standing in front of it (or more accurately, flying kicking towards it) and triggering the copy to be made. It was shattered midway through creation, creating Dark Pit- something the villians were hoping would happen, as Pit is the last angel to exist and they REAAAALLY want their own angel.

Immediately everyone assumes Dark Pit is just evil by default- even the villian is gloating about her new minion, but he immediately rejects that and punches the villian and helps you in the fight. He steals her power and flies away after, but its important to realize that Dark Pit could've just allied with the villians for the same result, and instead chose to be alone. Sure, he's kinda a dick to Pit, but he hasn't done anything outright evil. Just took a dead god's power in order to fly and left.

Cue the next mission where Palutena calls Dark Pit 'twisted' and 'inherently corrupt' like ma'am where??? Hes just an asshole cmon, you would be too if your birth parent is a reflective piece of glass. You go off on a mission to try and KILL him, and he obviously defends himself- once again, he's done nothing outright wrong. He's rude and aggressive, yes, but he literally doesn't want ANY part of all this war between gods shit, and here you are killing him for merely existing. During the final battle of the mission Dark Pit tells Pit that he is his reflection, and that they're the same person- Dark Pit is just more than willing to say the things Pit refuses to admit to himself.

AND HE'S RIGHT. Dark Pit believes the gods are selfish, are using Pit as a tool for their own gain, and that the world would be better off without them since all they ever seem to do is cause war and destruction. If you pay attention to how Pit reacts to the world around him, he DOES share these beliefs but instead of acting on them, he just buries it. Pit will even snap at the gods about half-way through the game, telling them outright that its THEIR war that is destroying the planet and that THEY'RE all at fault. Dark Pit is NOT an evil clone; he's an inversion. Everything Pit hides away, he wears on his sleeve, and interestingly, everything Pit openly is, DARK PIT STILL IS TOO. He, just like Pit, hides it away instead of admiting it.

After the fight Dark Pit runs away, and shows up mainly as an ally to Pit going forward. The game mentions further how kinda fucked up Dark Pit's whole situation is- if Pit's soul is removed from his body, Dark Pit just DOESN'T EXIST during that time. If Pit dies, Dark Pit dies, and he has no control over it. He never even gets his own name- its either Dark Pit, or his nickname of 'Pit two' (Pitto). If Pit ever attacks Dark Pit and tries to kill him, there's little Dark Pit could ever really do; In the game he'll defend himself and try and kill you, but at that point he's dead either way. His life is barely his own.

Worst part is, SSBU confirms Dark Pit allied with Viridi after the events of Kid Icarus Uprising. I cannot STRESS how horrible that is for his characterization so far. Viridi is the god of nature and hates humanity for even existing, with her first appearance being her dropping NUKES onto towns and cities to purge humanity. And Dark Pit now works as a commander under her. Either Viridi has to mellow out REAL damn fast and stop nuking medieval humans, or they accidentally wrote Dark Pit to be a Human Murderer (we specifically know Viridi sends her commanders to kill off anyone who survives her nature nukes). Really hope this stays in the realm of 'not canon' because holy shit there's so many better options to pick from than the 'little girl god with a hit list and a factory of bombs'.

(Not even sure WHY Dark Pit, who thinks gods are selfish and use angels like tools, would want to ally with a god. Yes, he can't fly without a god's help, but even then why ally with the most vindictive and murder-happy god that isn't Hades??? Poor dude really just needs a break from all the gods to sort out who he is and to start building his own life independently from Pit)

YouTube 2023 Year in Review

Welp! Guess it's that time of year again. I'm sure 2023 has been a...pretty interesting year to say for quite a few people. And for me personally, it's also been a weird little year that's great in some parts and could be better in others.

What have I been up to?

My life right now is kinda divided into three parts:

A) the "IRL" stuff, as in working on my editing day job and spending time with family.

B) working on YouTube videos which I still have the passion for,

and C) playing video games, collecting cool things and socializing with my online friends.

I've always felt that it's difficult for me to put equal attention to all three, and lately, it definitely feels like I'm focusing on 'A' and 'C' more. Of course, my day job is kinda how I make a living at the moment so that obviously gets priority, but that doesn't mean I want to ignore my YouTube stuff! It's just hard to sneak in a few lines of script-writing while multitasking at a day job, and only being able to freely spend time on 'B' and 'C' during night isn't the most productive way to go about things, especially with other things that aren't YouTube production. I also have games I want to play, art I want to draw, folks I'd like to hang out with etc.

And that's a fine, healthy way of going about things online for regular folks! But I don't want my YouTube channel to stagnate as a result of this, because I still love making videos! I have support from folks on Patreon, and I still hope to continue growing the channel so that it becomes more sustainable to do frequent updates.

Part of me has always thought about just quitting my day job once I have a decent amount of money saved up and just try doing YouTube full-time and rely on Patreon, even if there's a very low chance it'd be sustainable. Of course, that's a big gamble, and I'm not truly sure if that's really the best way to go about things. But those are just my inner thoughts and I've rambled long enough...

So, I apologize for the above situation sort of being the root cause of the recent slower pace of my YouTube channel! The pace of the channel this year is about the same as in 2022, if not a little slower. I didn't really get a lot of dormant scripts from 2020-2021 off the ground, but being true to what I said in last year's Year in Review, I did end up working on a lot of spontaneous ideas even if there wasn't a "big" core video! In fact, I think almost every video released in 2023 that we'll discuss below were spontaneous ideas.

I'll talk more about what's to come for the channel in the end of the post, but for now, as usual, we'll take a look at each video I made during 2023 and I'll share my thoughts and some fun facts about each!

A Trip to the Hong Kong Kirby Pop-Up Store

Various things were put up on the channel from January to March, including a funny little short for Mario Day and a new trailer for a revamped Patreon, but the major thing I put out was a look at the Kirby Pop-Up Store in Hong Kong! This was my first time doing a scripted documentation of an in-person event, and Nintendo Hong Kong would eventually do more events like Nintendo Live 2023 Hong Kong, and I'll definitely be talking about them on my channel eventually!

As for fun facts...uhh...I suppose Patreon patrons get to see the full unedited raw footage I took from the event lol

Top 10 Nintendo Trivia You NEVER Knew

This year's April Fools video...was also a last-minute sort of idea, if I recall correctly! The concept is simple: it's a parody of generic Top 10 trivia videos in terms of presentation, but the curveball is instead of just doing other blatantly obvious fun facts, the facts would actually be super obscure, inconsequential Nintendo facts that barely anyone would've known about, so in the end it's kind of a legit trivia video in a twisted way. The facts in the video were sourced from new research, me asking friends for suggestions and some of my old posts on Twitter, so there were a few 'fun' facts that were left on the cutting room floor, and here's a good place to share them!

In an early version of the GameCube instruction manual, Mario 64 was used as a placeholder game

The infamous 'black box' in Super Mario 64 DS is not a visual glitch as commonly believed, and briefly appears in E3 2004 footage

Prototype screenshots of Mario 64 have appeared in an early print of the game's box art...and on a Nintendo Monopoly board in 2006 (next to the ? Block on the right side of the board if you're looking)

The Onion in Hey! Pikmin has white and purple in its colors, even though white and purple Pikmin never appear in the game

The original 3DS had two separate sets of black & white colors, for some reason

And to finally come clean...yes, around 30% of the video's script was generated using ChatGPT, as part of the joke. Mostly the introductory bits at the beginning of each segment, since it definitely did not give me the results I wanted when I asked it to describe the specific details of each fact, so y'know, hopefully that's a sign it's not coming for my job of talking about obscure Nintendo things! And don't worry, this will probably be the only time I ever use AI in my videos.

The Better N64 Wavebird Experience

This is a follow-up to a 2021 video where I also used the N64 Switch Online controller on an original N64, albeit with a different adapter! This actually isn't a case where I received a free product to do a review on, I just happened to read about a better alternative, pre-ordered it online, it arrived in April and I decided to knock out a quick review/comparison video in 2 days!

As such, this is more of standard informative review video, but in all honesty, I still really like this setup, and it's in my opinion still one of the best controller options for original N64 games. So much so, that I recently completed my NSO controller collection by picking up a Sega Mega Drive 6-button NSO controller to eventually use with my original Mega Drive! I'm still looking for the compatible 8bitDo adapter though, so maybe when I eventually do, that can be a quick little video on the Plus channel for patrons!

The Most Expensive amiibo

This is my favorite video I put out this year! The Qbby amiibo has always been in my sights for a while, and I've gone on record saying that I'd make a video on it if I got my hands on one.

Back in 2019, I once saw a Qbby amiibo being offered on Yahoo Auctions for a relatively cheap price, but to afford it I asked for extra donations via Ko-fi. Looking back on it now there were probably better options I could've taken, but either way the listing got cancelled and I refunded everyone who donated for that. Then sometime later I saw another relatively cheap BOXBOY package in a local listing, but then the seller never replied and deleted the listing, so the amiibo has eluded me until now, and there seems to be no signs of Qbby stock going down any time soon. My hope for a Qbby reprint continues, and hopefully this video still serve as a little awareness boost for folks who are wondering why he's one of the most expensive amiibo around!

Some of the gag editing on this one got spruced up a little bit which I enjoyed doing, but you also probably noticed that I got a turntable specifically for those glamour shots! ...yeah, I'll probably get more use of that thing later on as well.

The Kirby Battle Royale online joke wasn't exaggeration: I couldn't find anyone to play online with! I suppose that is to be expected for, y'know, playing a mid 3DS game in 2023, but it's a shame that Kirby Battle Royale doesn't at least offer a option to play with friends, and from some experimentation, it seems that two of my US-based friends were able to match with each other online while I couldn't, which also suggested some region-based matchmaking was at play. Oh well! There are some better 3DS games out there that I'd still like to play online one last time before their servers shut down this April.

Tetris...on a McDonald's Nugget

Continuing the trend of 'make video on a recent find' for the third video in a row, it's the China-exclusive McDonald's Tetris Chicken McNugget! For an unscripted Things of Interest video, it turned out pretty well, kinda like the Rhythm Tengoku arcade video in 2022! Compared to the first unscripted TOI back in like 2018, I've definitely gotten a bit better at rambling since.

I was kind of a few days late to the party, and some other videos about the Tetris Nugget from larger channels have racked up more views since, but that's not really the point! As a casual Tetris fan that happens to be in proximity to mainland China, something as bizarre as this is totally right up my alley. Covering China-exclusive gaming stuff just kinda reminds me that I have yet to do a video on the iQue Player though, which I really want to...

FlashBoy Plus: The $95 Virtual Boy Flashcart

I haven't really taken a YouTube sponsorship deal yet, but I do get emails about doing reviews or ad reads of items on occasion, like new Switch gaming accessories from different third parties and whatnot. Unfortunately, that's not really the type of stuff I do regularly on the channel unless I find a great angle to tackle it from, so the only review offer I've done on the channel until now is a limited Switch physical release in 2020.

When I was offered to review the FlashBoy Plus, I was definitely intrigued despite having already previously covered the HyperFlash 32, a technically better option! Virtual Boy flashcarts are already a very niche thing, so I gladly took the opportunity to take a look at any new option out there, and even if it's not a mainstream topic at all it does kinda appeal to me specifically.

In the video, I mentioned the (very cool looking) clear cartridge shell was not a publicly available option yet at the time of the review, but looking at the order site now, it has been added since! So hey, good for them! It is honestly pretty sick to have a transparent Virtual Boy cartridge.

Playing PC Games with the SNES Mouse & Famicom Keyboard

I started work on the next core video right after the FlashBoy Plus video (more on that in the last section), but getting sick during early December forced me to delay it, so for that month I decided to do one last spontaneous idea: a followup to the 2021 video where I used the Famicom keyboard and SNES Mouse on a computer...but this time on a proper PC!

A thing that was brought up in the comments was one setting in particular: when I was changing the mouse settings in the Control Panel, there was a 'Enhance pointer precision' option that I didn't uncheck, which presumably slows down the mouse for precise movements. There wasn't a super noticeable difference when I unchecked it during further testing, but when I coupled it with further increasing the mouse sensitivity in games that allow you to change it in-game, I was actually able to get the SNES Mouse to move at a decent pace in some games! Of course, that requires tweaking with additional settings that would normally be overkill for a regular mouse, so it's still not practical, but at least there was a setup that would alleviate some of my complaints in the video.

Okay, so what's next for 2023?

I mean 2024. Oh god the typos are already starting.

Right before the FlashBoy Plus video came out, in late June 2023, I did a video topic poll on Patreon, asking what idea I should do next. Out of the four options given, one of them is a continuation of a limbo project from 2021, and the other three were spontaneous new core video ideas I came up with and wanted to do.

Well, one of the spontaneous new ideas won the poll, so the next core video is...

A look at the camera and sound apps on both the Nintendo DSi and 3DS! I originally wanted to get this out in December, and you all know what happened to that plan, BUT the script is done, the VO recording is done, footage recording is well underway and I am confident I'll be able to get it out this January. I really like how the script for this one shaped up and am commissioning some banger thumbnail art for it (🐦), so I REALLY hope you'll look forward to it!

Afterwards, there are a few in-progress ideas that I also want to work on for quick videos afterwards. As mentioned above, I visited Nintendo Live 2023 Hong Kong which was hosted on November, and ALSO the Nintendo Hong Kong Pop-Up Store which is running from December to January, so both of those would make for a perfect video in a similar vein as the Kirby Pop-Up Store video last year!

I also went on a trip to Japan last August, and took quite a bit of photos and footage. I still want to share my findings and experiences of being in Tokyo for the first time that I could remember, so there will be a fun little piece about that going on the Plus channel in the future!

And don't forget, I'm making a video about every game I beat during 2023, continuing the thing I started last year!

And after ALL of the above is done, I still have the remaining core video ideas from the June Patreon poll I did, since I did say I'd eventually love to do all of them, and that desire still hasn't gone away. I don't know how the rest of 2024 will go for this channel but I'd say this is a fantastic starting point, and I hope it'll all go up from there, since I'd really love to be more productive on here, while trying to keep that A-B-C balance in check!

Splatband Analysis - Hightide Era

So I was eating breakfast the other day when I found on the back of my milk carton this picture about a band being missing? Now, I think they’re exaggerating a bit on the “M.I.A.” thing. Sure, they haven’t been mentioned since Splatoon 2, where they got to cameo in the White Day artwork and are involved in the backstory for Ink Theory, but you know who else hasn’t been mentioned since Splatoon 2? SashiMori. And I don’t see anyone making a big deal about that (other than me, Nintendo, please), but I digress. Let’s talk about these losers.

The Band

Hightide Era is an indie band that developed a strong enough fanbase to get their music into the Turf War scene. The band started life with Taka performing on the street, before later being joined by Kuze, and then Nishida, in that order. One of the first things we learned is the meaning of the band's name, which refers to both the nature of the band's sound, brimming and full… and also the ecological realities of the world. Seems the band has environmental concerns they wanna draw attention to, enough to make it a part of their name. 

Taka

The band's pianist and vocalist, and the overall center of attention of the band, which is exactly what they want. They’re an incredibly talented musician, having practiced piano since the age of Four, and attended the same prestigious academy that Karen did, having been her senior while she was attending. After that, though, they grew tired of all this academic music nonsense and took to the streets to perform, which is where they met Kuze and Nishida. 

The most obvious thing to know about Taka, outright told to us in their own description, is that Taka is a shallow poser. Their main motivation for making music isn’t for any artistic merit, but just because it gets them attention and adoration. Which, considering they’ve been at it since the age of Four, is pretty concerning. Also very superficial beneath the surface. It’s an Ichiya situation, with a lot of surface level charisma concealing a superficial personality. It must be pretty effective too considering they have a dedicated fan in Karen. That desire for attention also keeps them from adding a bassist to the band, it draws attention away from the low notes they hit. What an ass.

White Day art time, we see our stinker leaning back on their chair, clearly spectating the epic battle between Tangle and Finn like a weirdo. They must get a lot of enjoyment out of seeing chaos going on around them. Or maybe they’re trying to peek at Finn? In which case they probably didn’t get to stay as a spectator for long. 

Kuze

Kuze is the drummer and a stone fish. He plays on cheap drums because it provides a very messy but powerful sound that compliments the other members trying to look cool. He probably just likes the way the drum sounds and thinks it looks cool. He’s also a fashion designer, he made the uniforms the band wears. Probably has a lot of talents in that area, too. 

He’s the third and final member of Underpass Bass Drum, so he’s an active turf player. It’d be cool if one day we got an idea as to what their weapon preferences are. Maybe they even wear a uniform too, what with him being a part of the team? Ah, I’m speculating.

White Day has him sitting with Paul and Jawn. He’s not playing the game, so he’s probably just hanging with them and watching, perhaps waiting for his turn. But there’s one thing you can see him do, and that’s giving Taka the side-eye. It gives the vibe that he knows about Taka and their shenanigans and doesn’t tolerate them too much. Or he’s just keeping an eye on them in case Finn notices and takes it as a challenge. 

Nishida

Nishida is a herring and a guitarist. They don’t like being in the spotlight, despite the stereotype revolving around guitarists. May or may not have something to do with the fact they are the youngest of 247 siblings. Like, yeah, that’s a huge ratio of sibling teasing, bullying and fawning, especially since they’re the youngest. Still, they don’t hate attention, they’ve apparently been featured in a serialized magazine that talks about their guitar skills. And apparently people they’re trying to “put on airs” (it means they act like they’re better than others, to be snobbish), when really they don’t do that… most of the time. Is it trying to say that they’re only occasionally snobbish and act egotistical?

In the White Day artwork, they are shown engaged in conversation with Taichi in the back of the bar. They’re more social than they appear, at least, but we may never know what the nature of their conversation is. #Nishida x Taichi Romance. They also brought their guitar for some reason, despite absolutely no one else bringing anything. Wonder what that’s about.

And that’s Hightide Era. I never cared about them until today, but I’m glad to say I’ve gained an appreciation for them as of this analysis. There’s something to love about everyone, even if some of them could probably use a little less attention (*cought* Taka *cough*).

We are down two bands. The Chips that Chirp, the neurodivergence squad Chirpy Chips, and everyone’s favorite band of fish freaks ω-3. I’ll go with the Chips first, and then finish with the Salmons. This is fun.

Sonic team and sega both need to piss off. I'm more likely to get a finished product out of fangames and contractors who make one game and jump ship. How many times will sonic team make a "step in the right direction" before they stumble into something actually worth the retail price?

This is kind of a dangerous line of thinking, because that's assuming the problem comes from Sonic Team or even Sega itself.

We've already had off-hand comments from Takashi Iizuka about how he wants to make Sonic Adventure 3 but "Sega won't let him" and made them do Sonic Frontiers instead. Sonic Frontiers, a game Sega's current president was deliberately pitching as "targeting high review scores."

So you could say, "Well Sega is the one who is responsible, right?" But Sega is not the top of this ladder.

I've been talking about this video with friends since I saw it, because it's very interesting. Moon Channel is run by a Real Actual Attorney, and he uses that knowledge and insight to provide opinions on certain legal sides of video games. In this video, he tackles why Sega seems to be so lax about fan-made content. It's sort of a sequel to a previous video, about why Nintendo is so protective.

The general idea put forth in this Sega video is that corporations are protective of things that have value, and Sega used to be more protective than Nintendo when it comes to intellectual property.

That changed when Sega was bought out by Sammy, a company mostly known for its pachinko gambling machines. Moon Channel suggests that Sammy bought Sega almost more for PR reasons than financial ones. Sega has a loyal and dedicated fan base, and by putting Sega forward as the face of the company, Sammy gets to operate with less scrutiny towards their gambling business.

For as loyal as Sega fans are, Sonic fans are even more loyal. So Sammy basically allows Sonic to operate as a "hero to the children" both figuratively and literally as long as it helps keep the company's image clean and Sega ultimately looking benevolent. Even though Sammy very clearly does not provide enough time, resources, or budget to actually make sure Sonic products are consistently good.

He does not make these claims baselessly. He references real earnings reports where Sammy directly talks about some of this strategy, and how little Sonic actually matters compared to their pachinko business.

He also suggests that Sonic could be at something of a turning point right now, given a confluence of recent success even in spite of Sammy's general disinterest towards actually growing the Sonic brand. Sonic has hit a string of success almost by accident, and by Moon Channel's prediction, that could mean Sega could start getting protective again, if nothing else, to prevent another Ken Penders incident.

My point in all of this is that you gotta go up the ladder a few rungs if you're looking for somewhere to point fingers. Even Takashi Iizuka, for all the power he has within the Sonic franchise, is still just trying to keep his job.

Does that absolve him of making bad decisions? No. It merely explains where some of this blame is coming from. The end product can still be bad, but there's a lot of pressure coming down from the top and all sorts of arbitrary guidelines we probably don't know anything about.

And, in general, "THERE ARE FAN GAMES BETTER THAN THIS" is probably a very good way to draw the wrong kind of attention. If you start threatening Sega about this stuff, you endanger a lot more than just yourself.

You and Bakugou minded your own business in Bakugou’s room. You had your body halfway off the edge of the bed while Bakugou rested on the wall, and Kirishima was nowhere to be food.

“Is shitty hair gonna come back or what? I’m starving, and he hasn’t come back here with the damn pizza.” Bakuogu, as he was fiddling around with his Nintendo switch.

You and Bakugou were both playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Thank whatever God that he hasn’t gotten frustrated and blown up his switch. You convinced him to play with you, and it somehow worked. You two had been playing while Kirishima was gone.

“I don’t know. He has been gone for a while, so I don’t know what’s taking him a long time.” You said as you moved your avatar to the other side of the island. “Well, he better get here soon. Where the hell is Isabelle?” Bakugou growled with his mouth closed. You sighed harshly. “In the resident services building, dumbass.” “Shut up.”

Almost half an hour had passed, and Kirishima finally arrived with the pizza and an oz bottle of coke. “About damn time, shitty hair,” Bakugou said and tossed his switch to the side. Kirishima chuckled. “Sorry about that, Bakugou. They somehow got the order wrong and had to remake it.”

Bakugou blinked. “How can you fuck up a pizza?!” Both you and Kirishima laughed at Bakugou’s little outburst.

A little while passed with everyone’s bellies full and doing their own thing, but the thing is, Kirishima was starting to get fidgety. “Guys, I’m getting bored!” He groaned loudly, making sure his friends would notice. You smiled. “You can play on my switch after I’m done if you want.” You suggested while picking your head up from the edge of the bed.

“Hell no. I still need your help with this stupid game.” Bakugou said, clicking random buttons on his switch. “Oh, so you do need my help?” You spoke with a smirk. “Shut up. You're the one who dragged me into this.” Kirishima chuckled. “I’m surprised you listened.”

Bakugou huffed. “Yeah, whatever.” He said and went back to playing the game. Kirishima placed his hand on Bakugou’s shoulder and shook it a little. “Oh, come on. Don’t be like that.”

Bakugou rolled his shoulder annoyingly to get Kirishima’s hand off of him. “Get off of me!” “Or what?” Kirishima raised his eyebrow cheekily. “Or I’ll blow you to pieces!” “Like hell you are! Come here!”

Kirishima pulled Bakugou close to his side and started squeezing his sides as soon as his hands latched onto them. “Ahahahahahahahahahahahahaha Kirishimahahahahahaha! Don’t tickle mehehehehehe!” Bakugou laughed as he tensed his arms to his sides to try to make Kirishima stop tickling him.

“I don’t wanna hear it, Bakugou. You were being mean to them, so, therefore, I have to tickle you!” Kirishima grinned as his hands wandered up to pinch his ribs.

As Bakugou laughed louder and curled himself halfway into a ball, you cheered on Kirishima. “Get ‘em, Kiri!” Kirishima stopped tickling Bakugou and turned his attention toward you. “Oh, I’m coming after you next!” He said. You widened your eyes. “What?” You mumbled.

“C’mere!” Kirishima grabbed you so suddenly that you didn’t have time to react to get away. He placed you between his legs with your back on his chest and slithered his hands under your shirt to gently tickle your soft belly.

“Ehehehehehehehehehe Kirihihihihihi! Why are you tihihihickling mehehehe?!” You giggled and tried your hardest to swat away Kirishima’s hands. “Because you're so cute!” He chimed as he softly spidered his fingers over the middle of your tummy.

“Hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe plehehehehehehease!” You begged and wiggled more against him. “Please, what?” Kirishima asked with an innocent tone. “Don’t tihihihihickle mehehehe!” Kirishima gasped playfully. “What was that? Tickle you? Aww, I thought you never asked!” He cooed as he leaned his face close to your neck and nibbled as he squeezed your sides rapidly.

“AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA NOHOHOHO DOHOHON’T DO THAHAHAHAT!” You squealed loudly as you felt his pointed teeth in your neck that made you more ticklish. Him also squeezing your sides was pretty bad enough.

“Nom nom nom!” His words mumbled in the crook of your neck. “You have such a tasty neck, and I am a hungry vampire!” Kirishima continued to bite your neck gently as you had no way to get away.

“NAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA IT TICKLES TOO MUHUHUHUCH! PLEHEHEHEHEASE STOHOHOHOHOP!” You tried scrunching your shoulders to protect your neck, but that would mean that you could trap Kirishima’s head, and he won’t stop munching on your neck.

“But I want to suck your blood!” Kirishima said with his cheesy Dracula accent as he switched to the other side of your neck to snack more of it. “AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA DON’T SWITCH SIHIHIHIHIHIHIDES! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!”

Kirishima finally stopped. “Alright, alright,” He slowly peered at Bakugou over his shoulder. “It’s time for Bakugou’s turn, anyway.” “Wait, what?” Bakugou said, being caught off guard.

“Get over here!” Kirishima yelled in his casual Mortal Kombat voice as he dragged Bakugou by the ankles and pounced on top of him. Bakugou let out a surprised yelp, followed by strings of laughter when Kirishima dug his fingers into his ribs and nipped his neck.

“AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA DAMN IT SHITTY HAHAHAHAIR! I HATE YOUR TEEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHETH! GET OHOHOHOHOHOFF!”

Bakugou kicked his legs and wiggled side to side as his laughter boomed through the room. Kirishima was relentless and stayed on top of him until his teeth had its fill.

“You can squirm all you want, Bakugou, but you’ll never escape from me!”

“HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA STAHAHAHAP! STOP BIHIHIHITING MEHEHEHEHEHE! I’M GOING TO KIHIHIHIHILL YOHOHOU! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!”

After another moment of torture, Kirishima stopped tickling Bakugou and got off him. Bakugou just lay there breathing heavily with a smile on his face. Kirishima chuckled. “You alright, Bakugou?” He rubbed his shoulder a bit.

“Shut… up,” Bakugou said between breaths. Kirishima laughed. “That wasn’t very fair of you, Kiri! Your teeth tickle a lot more!” You whined. Kirishima started to smirk. “But I love your oh-so-cute squeals and couldn’t get enough!” He wiggled his fingers toward you, making you shriek and push his hands away.

|→ Caelus, Stelle, March, and Dan Heng have sleepovers in March’s room and they treat it like a girls party in a coming of age movie, meaning face masks, gossip, phone games, Ouijia boards, etc.

| One time Himiko heard screaming and walked in to see them cowering against a wall thinking they saw a ghost while Dan Heng tries to calm them down.

|→ March set it up so that once a month the crew leaves Welt and Himeko alone to have a small tea party and have a moment to stop being responsible and goof off.

|→ When visiting new planets and they have free time March will drag Dan Heng and the twins to an arcade where they play games, stuffed animals she got from claw machine’s making up most of her plush collection.

| She’d try her best at the games until she runs out of game points where then she goes to Dan Heng to help her, and theres a 50/50 chance he’ll win.

| In the event he doesn’t win Dan Heng will give March some of his points to let her get something from the shop.

|One time Stelle broke the machine trying to win something so she just took the prize and ran off dragging Caelus along, ending with a small scolding from Himeko and Stelle paying the owner back for the damages.

|→ Dan Heng owns some plants since they add life to a room while also not needing much attention to take care of.

| One time while he was away March accidentally knocked over a plant and helped him regrow a new one as a way to say sorry.

|→ Caelus is an ipad kid. Always has been and always will be. For his birthday the crew probably got together to but him a new device so he would use it instead of an old tablet he found in the very back of an abandoned room the in the Herta Space Station.

|→ Stelle can sleep through anything and I mean anything. The train caught on fire? No problem Stelle is still fast asleep. There’s a murderer loose? Stelle’s still fast asleep as March screams across the train running.

| Caelus on the other hand will wake up to the slightest noise or disturbance. Someone could just simply be walking by and all of a sudden Caelus is wide awake.

|→ Stelle used to be a gacha kid and had an Oc named Flurry Stars. At one of their sleepovers Stelle showed Dan Heng and March the music videos, mini movies, memes, etc.

| Dan Heng surprisingly finds them entertaining in a way leading Stelle to show him the app where the two make gacha videos for fun.

| Dan Heng definitely has made a Oc with wolf ears and red eyes probably named Jackson or something who he adores, it’s really sweet to be honest.

|→ Sometimes Himeko will read the group bedtime stories while everyone drifts to sleep under the stars.

| Her personal favorite would be Cinderella, simple and a classic.

|→ When March first met PomPom she thought they were a stuffed animal and nearly squeezed the life out of them.

I completed Piofiore: Fated Memories on Nintendo Switch about a month ago. Piofiore is a popular otome visual novel about mafia in 1920's Italy. The promise of a mature story paired with beautiful art style enticed me to buy the game. I was also curious to find out why the otome fandom calls a certain love interest in the game a "trashbando".

The protagonist Liliana "Lili" Adornato is an upstanding young woman raised by church and she gets tangled in the world of organized crime. Most of the love interests in the game represent three competing mafia families: Falzone, Visconti and Lao Shu. The mafia setting lends a natural frame for mature themes that include violence, human trafficking, torture and sexual assault.

Each love interest has a bad ending, good ending and best ending. In addition to this they all have a short after story. Yang's route was easily my favorite - lots of action and fun events. Orlok's bad ending was memorable with its brutality - poor guy. Some of the routes weren't super interesting. Dante's route had the ingredients to grab my attention but the execution wasn't the best. I ended up slightly disappointed with the overall story not completely revealing a certain key factor of the plot. Maybe the rest of the "mystery" is reserved for the sequel, Piofiore: Episodio 1926? I could have done with less romance and more story even though Piofiore apparently isn't that loaded with romance fluff.

I found it interesting how a character could appear wildly different on a different route. Some may claim this is inconsistent writing but I find it logical to incorporate different points of view to characters' personality and have them act differently according to their motives in different situations. Being a loving and caring person towards someone doesn't mean they couldn't have a sadistic tendency towards people who oppose them.

What comes to favorite characters, at first glance I thought Gilbert would be my top pick - manly man with a badass eye patch. Gilbert had his moments with some funny light-hearted scenes and his gentlemanly ways. Especially the way he spoke to Dante made me chuckle: "Yo Dante! What's with the face? You sick or something?". But I ended up liking Yang the most. Yang was such a peculiar character and his attitude and dialogue made me laugh. I guess I'm part of the trashbando-loving "Yang gang" now. My husband pointed out that it's usually the bald 50+ year-olds or the red-haired ones that strike my fancy and that was true in this case too. The various side characters were a good addition to the cast.

There's a good amount of high quality CG images to unlock in the game. I was especially impressed with the intricate details in clothing and jewelry. A common occurrence was me commenting "oo wow, look at those amazing details in the dress" during a scene where the protagonist and a love interest kiss.

The game's user interface is pure eye candy. The usual quality of life features like skipping previously read content, dialogue history, quick save/load and chapter select are present. The music was pretty good too. Voice acting was top notch but I was unhappy the protagonist wasn't voiced (and her portrait wasn't shown during her dialogue). I recall a few typos and grammar mistakes in the game but overall I'd say the localization was done well.

My top complaint is that there was an absurd amount of dialogue about food but they hardly ever showed it in pictures. All kinds of delicious dishes and desserts kept being mentioned but I think they showed food only twice. Show me the food, dammit! Oh, and Nicola's fashion sense irked me. His outfit was so classy and then he had to accessorize with a tie that looks like it was barfed on.

Finishing all the routes and unlocking all content in the game took me 55 hours. I started playing in February and finally finished in October. I'm not the fastest reader and I have a chronic case of falling asleep when I try to play in bed in the evenings.

I liked the game but at some points I felt like the story was dragging. I didn't enjoy Piofiore quite as much as I did Café Enchanté and Variable Barricade for example. Maybe it's because Piofiore is a lot more serious in tone and doesn't have much in the way of humor. The art and Yang's route were the highlights for me. I'm still keen on playing the sequel at some point.

If you like some darker themes in your visual novels, Piofiore may be worth giving a shot.

“Geno?”

Said puppet didn’t look up. Quietly berating himself for not hiding himself away better. But also knew Mario would have found him eventually. 

Geno closed himself off further as Mario sat next to him.

“You, um, you missed dinner,” Mario started off softly, “I saved you a bit though. It’s a Toad Town specialty. Really something you can’t miss.”

That hit harder than what Mario meant, no doubt. Geno clenched his jaw to keep himself quiet. Even as the sorrow crept up his throat. 

“Um, Peach was hoping to show you around? The locals are curious about the hero from the stars. Or, well, the hero who is a Star. Suppose that’s more accurate, right?”

Geno was thankful that his cape could hide the upper portion of his body. So Mario couldn’t see how hard Geno was clasping his hands together. 

“Did I do something wrong?”

That caused Geno to finally snap his attention to Mario. The human looking away, dejected eyes staring at the ground. 

“You’ve been really quiet recently and you don’t interact with any of us anymore. At least, not like you used to. You stay near the back. You’re so focused on battling. You’re barely eating anymore. Did something happen? Did…Did I make a mistake?” 

When Mario looked up his face fell from confusion to panic. 

Geno suddenly realized he was crying now. 

Said puppet turned as quickly as he could to rub his eyes furiously.

“Geno-”

“I’m fine.”

“You’re clearly not!” 

“Just drop it.”

“No.”

“Mario…”

“Talk to me, please.”

“I can’t…”

“You know I’m here for you.”

“I can’t…”

“Geno-”

“I have to leave!”

Geno didn’t mean to shout. Or stand. Now towering over a wide eyed Mario.

“Don’t you get that? Once we get the final Star Piece, I have to leave. I have to go back to help build Star Road and I can’t come back. I have to leave all of this behind! I have…I have to leave you.”

Geno’s resolve crumbled away. Unabashedly crying as he allowed his sorrow to pull him down. Mario able to catch Geno quickly and hold him close.

“I know, I know it will hurt because it already does,” Geno sobbed, “I know it’ll be so much worse. I figured, if I pulled away, it wouldn’t hurt. If I just broke away, it would be easier for everyone. But it still hurts…”

“You need to trust me when I say that’s not going to work,” Mario whispered softly, “You’ve made everyone worry and hurt yourself more than you meant to.”

Geno hiccuped as he buried himself into the crook of Mario’s neck. “I don’t want to leave.”

“...Do you really have to?”

“I need to make sure the road’s built again. I need to know wishes can be granted again. They’ll need my help.”

“Then…I’ll wish for you to come back.”

Geno pulled away to stare in disbelief at Mario’s words, “What?”

“I’ll wish for you to come back ,” Mario stated simply again, “You’d be able to grant that, right?”

“...O-Of course.”

“Then I’ll wish. I’ll wish every night for you to come back here. Even if it takes weeks, months, years, I’ll wish and wait. And until the end, when you have to go back, we need to celebrate however many days you have left here. Yeah? No more hiding away anymore.”

Geno let out a small whine and nodded.

“Okay… Do you want to go back?”

“...Can we stay here for a little longer?”

Mario smiled softly, “Sure, I’ll give you as much time as I can give.”

Tracey is here for one reason and one reason only and her name is Dr. Holly Gallor. Actually, Tracey doesn’t care about any of the kids and barely tolerates Wednesday. Larissa Weems is the light of her life and the only reason she wanted this fic was to make sure there was an ending somewhere in the universe where #LarissaWeemsLives and Gwendoline Christie would get to come back on screen for season 2. She has suffered A LOT for this fic, lmfao. It was a solid 600,000 words before she even had less than eight legs!

Holly is the perfect combination of nervous, socially awkward, and accidentally adorable and Larissa is unbelievably soft for her. Holly is also a source of highly specific knowledge that Wednesday can appreciate. Between the two social disasters, they have a rhythm together and though it was a little hostile for a bit there, they ended up being able to find a kinship and mutual respect that aided Holly in finally accomplishing her life-long mission. Now that she doesn’t have to return to the jungle in search of a cure for molecular stabilization, she is able to finally open up her heart to Larissa in the way they’ve wanted for thirty-four years. 

I think I largely resolved Larissa’s issues presented in the canon, given a better explanation as to why she is obsessed with the Outcast reputation and trying to create a better state for the future of the Outcast world. Once Wednesday felt like she was more than just an “exhaustion” and a “trouble magnet” to her, she started to appreciate all the effort that Larissa had already put into trying to make life more fair for Outcasts. Once she recognized they had mutual goals, she tapped into wanting what was best for Larissa, too - and if that means she doesn’t /always/ get to be the center of attention in other people’s life, she is okay with sharing that attention with Holly. (To be fully resolved in chapter 31.) 

As for my other hobbies; I enjoy playing games on Nintendo Switch (Pokemon Sword, Pokemon Violet, Smash Bros, and Animal Crossing). I also hike alone (not nearly often enough this past year). I like to do crafts of many kinds with Tracey; we enjoy beading, costuming (though she does most of the work), and collaging. Tracey and I like antiquing, finding metaphysical shops, and drag shows. We also enjoy sitting at bars drinking, smoking, judging people and sometimes bringing non-tarot cards to do tarot readings on strangers with. You should see Tracey do a Sabrina the Teenage Witch trading card tarot reading, it’s a sight to behold.
