Okay, so I'm catching the "omggggg I want to write fic of this ship now" feels for Mao x Nanoka because of course I am, HOWEVER, I am floundering on one simple thing:

If I thought writing Inuyasha was hard (because let me make one thing clear: he is, without an shadow of a doubt, 1000% OOC in my fics lmao), Mao is on a whole other level, but for very different reasons.

Inuyasha was hard because writing a good tsundere is HARD. It's easy to make cookie-cutter "it's not like I like you or anything BAKA" types, but Inuyasha had some angst and guilt and other layers to him. But it also isn't fair to paint him as a Brooding Angsty Boi because that is most certainly NOT Inuyasha lmao. I'm good at recognizing tsunderes, but writing them is..... a challenge for me. Finding that balance between hot-headed idiocy and nuance??? Yeesh, no thanks >.<"

Mao, on the complete other end of the spectrum is........ stoic. But complex. Angsty, but kind. Enormously kind. But also emotionless. Mysterious AF. Honest but hidden. Calm, collected, wise, pragmatic, protective. He's an enigma which makes him an amazing character to read, but boy howdy, I have not idea how to write his voice 😭😭😭

this is actually a great question. i have read a lot of fics with tag actor louis, but i have never asked myself in what kind of movie i would have liked to see him. probably in crime series. louis as a detective. or in tv series about doctors, for example the grey's anatomy. louis as a doctor. i definitely don't see him in romcom, even tho if he plays as the business woman coming back to hometown and his boyfriend from high school. like the basic scenarios, but louis playing the woman's role. he is too soft to play the farmer or something like that. i don't know if i'm making sense or i'm just living in a fic at this point. i hope i managed to give you a reasonable answer. 🤐

Mmmm….. I’d have to say it’s a tie up between RP partner possessiveness / jealousy  &  guilting to reply faster or call out innactive muses for threads when I’m either hyperfixating on something else or just busy? Have had my fair share of it  &  anytime I notice a partner getting upset with me for interacting with others over them or notice they start to comment on my interactions with others in a “well what about ours?” kinda way of jus… generally leading all chats back to the topic of when I’m going to reply soon ALL IT DOES IS MAKE ME WANNA PULL AWAY  &  HIDE.

It then feels like a chore or like I’m obligated  &  takes the fun out of the hobby entirely when the way someone will try to poke my muses awake is more..l idk guilt trippy or negative? A good way to poke me for replies is to gently share something that reminds me of our threads or our muses  &  usually that sparks them right awake because it’s done so delicately  &  is super thoughtful. I honestly couldn’t tell you. I’ve only been around like… what… 2 years? Maybe 3? Even that’s pushing it since I only really got into this like 2 years ago ask an art ask blog before ever dipping my toes into this kinda writing blog. What I have noticed change-wise in is duplicate acceptance!

In my old fandom, we were super accepting of doubles / twins  &  never minded fitting them in  &  just having fun with it. But when I switched fandoms, Kh? In my experience, they weren’t as accepting. Very competitive weirdly, most won’t interact with you if they already have another main as their uh main person to write with for the same muse, so it felt very isolating? Safe to say it’s thankfully gotten a little better since then.

A fandom I’ll always gush about is FF VIII though because it’s small! Tiny! But my god the people there are so incredibly sweet  &  welcoming ( as you know lol )  -  all of us usually write the same muses anyways so we just compare notes / HCS  &  scream over love of game without that duplicate anxiety cropping up  &  honestly? I wish to see more of that elsewhere since at the end of the day it all boils down to that in the end. IDK I GUESS I JUST WANT FOR OTHER FANDOMS TO HAVE THAT OPEN WELCOMING VIBE. But I know it’s difficult when they’re larger…

Oh, I am delighted you asked, friend...it's not like I just did a bunch of research on snake health for a bad things happen bingo fic* with a naga whumpee....it's not like doing so gave me MANY more ideas than I was able to fit into that one story...and its not like I have many thoughts on how nagas could fit into the traditional creature whump tropes (that I also was reading and rereading for 'research' while writing We Blankly Stare). This is going under a cut, because, like all my fics, it got longer than I meant it to. (also, to my regular followers who aren't into heavy whump, don't mind me as I go off on a tangent into a totally different fic community; you can skip this one if you need to; at the very least mind the content warnings <3)

SO, nagas. Beautiful creatures. Like centaurs, 'human' on the top and snake on the bottom. SO much lovely whump potential, either as whumpers or whumpees, but lets focus on the whumpee side for now. In no particular order...

Pet Whump:

Decorative collars set with jewels that compliment the pattern of their highly polished scales and delicate gold chains weaving their way along their body, equal parts jewelry and restraint. They are highly prized, beautiful things, and what is the point of owning one if not to show it off?

Inviting a crowd to come and watch them feed, demonstrating their dislocating jaws and sharp fangs as they toss rodents to them whole. Bonus angst points if raw meat actually makes your naga whumpee sick, or they can eat raw meat but cooked is better. Just because they look like a snake doesn't mean they eat like one

Is your naga whumpee poisonous? Have their owner remove their fangs or poison glands, leaving them utterly dependent on them for food (and utterly helpless if they do ever manage to escape)

Nagas bred in captivity, so the only life they've ever known is one of imprisonment. Do they even consider freedom as something attainable? Or do their owners have them convinced that they're better off like this?

Lab Whump:

Nagas that are actually human/snake hybrids created in laboratory experiments just to see if it was possible.

Nagas who are kept in order to produce venom, what the venom is for could be anything!

Nagas 'enhanced' with mind and/or body altering drugs or magic to serve in the military as the perfect warrior

Nags used for experiments and drug tests because they are seen as less than human

Torture Whump:

As is the case with most torture whump, the 'why' the whumpee is being tortured isn't really important here. Maybe they have information the whumper wants, maybe the whumper is trying to get revenge or hurt whumpee's team, maybe they're just cruel. This isn't really about the 'why' so much as it is the specific 'hows' that having a whumpee who is part snake provides.

Pulling/cutting off scales, pulling out or filing down fangs, clipping or tearing off claws (a creature whump classic)

Naga specific (this is more of a lizard thing than a snake thing, but nagas aren’t real, we make the rules here!) body part removal: cutting off the tail! It doesn’t matter that it grows back, it still hurts every time. (or maybe the tail doesn’t grow back, and the naga is left unable to ‘walk’ properly)

Rough iron collars around their neck attached to a ball and chain, bonus points if the length of the chain prevents them from rising to their usual 'standing' height.

Hang them from the ceiling with cuffs and chains by their tails; upside down, right-side up, however you choose!

My those snake bodies are long...I wonder how long they can stretch?

I have one word for you: thermoregulation. Reptiles cannot regulate their own body heat, they are dependent on their environment. This gives us a whole HOST of reptile-specific torture techniques:

temperature shock: dump them in freezing water or spray them with a high-pressure hose. Unpleasant for any kind of whumpee, for the naga whumpee this has the added bonus of being fatal very quickly if they aren't warmed up.

It's not good for a snake to be too HOT either, they need to cool their bodies off just as often as they need to warm them up (don't quote me precisely on that, snake tumblr). A whumper who keeps their naga under bright, hot lights nearly constantly so they're dehydrated, covered in blisters, and/or always feverish (can a naga get a fever? idk, up to you. snakes don't, but snakes don't have human torsos. we can be wishy washy with health issues)

So extreme heat and extreme cold are bad, but did you know that (while it's breed specific) most snakes lose its ability to thermoregulate at around 70 degrees Fahrenheit? When their body temperature drops below this (but not so low that we're in hypothermia territory), their movements are sluggish, they cannot/will not eat, and it is very easy for them to develop infections, scale rot, all sorts of problems. Does the whumper keep them in low temperatures to make them weak and pliable in their hands, easy to control? Does the whumper use these conditions as a punishment for bad behavior? Or give reprieve from them as a reward for good behavior? There’s just SO much that can be done with temperature alone! It’s one of the things that sets nagas apart from other creatures and THAT is one of the most criminally underused aspects, in my oh so humble opinion!

Other Fun Concepts:

Nagas with their tails trapped under rubble, unable to pull themselves free.

Nagas kept in a cage that's far too small for them, their body wrapped up so tightly they can barely move.

Did you know that when a snake's body temperature is too low, it can't digest its food? And that if it does eat something and then doesn't have the energy to digest it properly, it will either instinctually regurgitate that food back up or run the risk of the food literally rotting in its stomach? Take this knowledge into literally any of the pet or torture scenarios and you have some A+ snake specific whump

Tiny nagas! Like the western hognose snake or the ringneck snake, these little guys can fit in the palm of your hand! Apply literally any previously listed scenario to your tiny naga for instant fantasy g/t whump! also vore...that's not my scene but it was one of like, two things i found while looking for naga whump on tumblr earlier, so I feel obligated to mention it.

Giant nagas, YOU can fit in THEIR hands. Does that make them the whumper, or still the whumpee? You decide!

Water nagas! combine mer whump with naga whump and you’ve got a water snake to hurt!

Nagas with scale rot, respiratory infections, kinks in their spine, or other snake health issues, either from mistreatment from a whumper or natural causes.

Gather round, children, for the legend of Grimwood Abbey

(that’s the tiny pre-MCC I mentioned the other day. I only came up with this concept, oh, over a year ago. Dropped it to play a nice easy modern Megahood. I don’t have much wherewithal.)

...so I have spent two days on the weekend so far just working on getting my CC sorted out so I can consider starting this. Yesterday the big issues were a. realizing it was super inefficient to delete stuff in-game one by one even though it’s nice to be able to see it, and becoming paralyzed with indecision about whether to take the time to hunt down unidentified files by hand, or continue spending time deleting dozens and dozens of recoiled by hand… eventually I did a little of both, but boy I gotta use some kind of tooltip renamed now huh… b. I am not good at Delphy’s Download Organizer. I don’t understand it. Why is there no “how to use” documentation. So then I set it to scan for orphans or duplicates, stare hopelessly at the results unable to figure out what is the best course of action, and then quietly quit it to yet again… move files around manually. Don’t get me wrong, I was able to use it to shove several file types into correct folders, but my real issue would be so easily solved if there was a thoroughly explained duplicate scanner that I was able to trust. Ugh, I probably should have started by moving all the files to one big folder and sorting them from there but WHATEVER.

Because, you see, like many simmers, I have been collecting my cc since roughly 2004. I legit cannot remember if I have lost the whole thing and had to start over, but this collection can certainly be traced back to my first laptop that could run the Sims 2. For the longest time, I merely collected a big pile of everything shiny and cool that caught my eye, resulting in a big mixed-up mess combining modern and medieval fantasy and sci-fi and random fandoms and steampunk and everything I ever enjoyed. That… was not sustainable. I tried keeping individual folders within Downloads for specific genres, with the idea that I could swap them in and out for different hoods. Alas, that was too time-consuming for my taste, and I ended up with the same basic downloads folder but very lightly sort of organized but not really.

Sometime within the last ten years, I started trying to cultivate different downloads folders of broad genre categories, all neatly saved on a big flash drive. That’s all well and good, but copying and backing up that shit took away precious hours I could be using to play. Not only that, but it was very rough trying to separate my downloads folder properly—some stuff worked well for multiple genres! So I ended up making copies of the whole downloads folder to build these alternates, which I could then whittle down to only the stuff I actually wanted in there. This medieval alternate downloads folder therefore also contained the folder I’d labeled Medieval CC in my last attempt at organizing, and just to be sure I copied everything over and back repeatedly. And you know how it goes—every time I got excited about the idea of an MCC, I had to go out and download anything new or shiny. And oh yeah, had to stock up on defaults because now I could be using a solely medieval downloads folder! And this new CC would get plonked right into the DL folder, nary a care for organization because I needed to play before I lost interest!

So I had at least two, possibly three copies of all the same content in a collection of medieval CC that’s been building for, let’s call it 15 years more or less. I can’t trust the download organizer—like sir are you showing me all of them? do I throw all these out or leave one behind?—and doing it by hand is extremely tedious, carefully removing all txt and preview files to improve my load time. And actually playing a year-old story concept is delayed yet again.

I’ve got a Megahood set up that I can start converting to medieval whenever I get my act together, and I still that that sounds like fun but also waaaay too big a project for me (latest issue: wait if the capulets and montagues are traditionally alike in dignity is it wrong to make the Capps gentry and the montys merchants? But if I make them both gentry it’ll be an entire damn subhood of nothing but gentry!). I also have the same old MCC hood I started building a year ago, restarting after years of having the concept ready (this one is Algary and it is the one i was building a castle for; it has a few interesting rolled families to start with such as the gentry family having no sim older than teen and me choosing to set that up as the direct heir and some cousins, and a peasant family that involved two elderly ladies who were in love and joined households after their obligatory husbands died, pooling resources to care for their families, but one of them was gonna feel obliged to head off to the church and repent while the other cared for the kids and became a midwife). And then there’s the new guy, Grimwood Abbey, whose concept is only a year old but I sure hope I can follow through on it because it is quite small. Even then I can’t decide yet whether to start with one household (everybody living together for protection!), two households (the church vs the knights), or several households (each knight beginning in their own household with their squire). The latter would make it easier for each knight to earn their own money and compete to purchase gentry approval from the church… but idk.

Anyway. After all that I am really hoping I am about ready to actually play a bit. Even just making some sims and buildings. Today I need to progress further in weeding out CC, try to find a way I can do that more efficiently, maybe find some nice standardized set of makeup and default eyes and skin to use rather than the haphazard collections I barely touch (I prefer to lean toward maxis match over Shiny Realistic skins where everyone has auto makeup, but I’m sure there is something nice out there that suits my needs), and I unfortunately saw some nice medieval clothes I don’t have while downloading a whole fresh set of Sun&Moon Star Factory stuffs (which, I had multiple copies of! Didn’t know what was updated and what was outdated or what! So I threw out everything I had and re-downloaded the entire collection, which may have been a bit drastic but it definitely worked. Also, why is there no complete user guide for this. A “how to get started” or something. Whatever.), so I also gotta download that. Then maybe I can make a test sim to make sure defaults and stuff work okay, and then maybe download some medieval lots to speed up the building process? And then I can play one of my various hood concepts finally actually? Maybe?

TLDR: I am getting frustrated because I have so many downloads, many of them duplicates within folder within the main folder, that it’s taking me all weekend just to straighten them out (and even then I might not be able to finish, despite it being a 3 day weekend where I live). I swear, it would be faster just to throw it all away and start over, except I can’t do that because I am clearly a CC hoarder and I might need a piece of CC that can no longer be downloaded.

...thus goes the preliminary legend of Grimwood Abbey and the horror story of Getting It Set Up. Someday, someday...

things and stuff

well I’ve taken... quite a few days off from Camp (and the internet/life in general) but it was sorely needed. Have a helluva busy week coming up but I should still be able to hit my Camp goal as long as I make a little bit of writing time each day and find even one tiny iota of motivation to get back to Mirror, Mirror... which frankly has become the larger problem.

Well, not motivation so much as the Big Why. I might have reached a point where in order to justify sinking as much time/energy as I plan to sink into this story, I may need to start converting this into original project territory now rather than later? It’s always been in the back of my head that I’ve got the bones of an original story in here, hidden beneath the guise of a fanfic, but then again, it’s probably still too early to know if there’s anything worthwhile in there. Better to have a DRAFT, a whole draft for once, and then make a call.

Probably just overthinking it. Probably being really vague here. I’ve just kind of hit a point where I’m not sure how healthy my level of fandom investment is for me anymore, which is a crisis point I’ve been at before. It’s not universal, certainly not true for everyone, but I tend to personally use fandom as a way to keep myself feeling stagnant and safe and free of substantial risk while still getting all those fun rewards and social feedback etc... but that’s probably working against me in a big bad way lately. 

I want very badly to stop automatically devaluing my own work, the way I always do, where I stay in creative ruts and resist new information and funnel all my energy onto self-sabotaging projects that I cannot ever publish when maybe I could actually write a real book if I decided I was worth it but at the same time I will always feel a massive amount of obligation to finish things I started, I.E. all my Mass Effect projects. Plus, fandom is fun, fandom is the bulk of my social life, but it’s become increasingly clear to me that I am deeply stagnated and more depressed than I’m willing to admit, and if I want to stop this goddamn awful cycle, the only way out is through a lot of scary changes.

Anyway I’ve mostly been staying off tumblr etc. because THIS is what my brain immediately devolves into right now, but I’m focusing on a lot of IRL stuff and a making slow but steady progress out of this latest depression hole. It always seems to hit me worst in spring, idk why.

none of this really means anything at this point, I’m just thinking out loud. But if I take a hiatus or am just less present online in the coming months, this is probably why, and it’s probably good.

DARP was not particularly open. Too busy pacing around like lions. Of the two years I was active in that fandom, I think I actually befriended like...five people. I’ve already added that many people to Discord from this blog and I think it’s been like a month and a half. DARP just kinda...had its hackles up 24/7.

Well, this one’s been pretty welcoming. Lots of activity. Lots of interaction. Making friends with people. I’ve even made it to the ‘rambling about space and dinosaurs’ stage with a couple people from this fandom. (For me that’s a milestone.) Also I’m apparently more willing to write soft core porn in this fandom? *shrug*

*thumbs up* In this fandom, at least. I avoided it with Alistair. I knew a bunch of other Tonys when I played him. There are a few other Nocts following me and I’m following them. The only one I’ve played with so far is the wee smol Noct, though, and that was only briefly, and a rule 63 Noct. I mean, I’d like some more twinverse stuff, but I am shy and easily intimidated by people who play the same character as me so I mostly wait for them to approach me.

There is nothing more awkward than getting a random meme from someone you’ve never talked to and having no way to respond because the meme sort of implies prior knowledge, and you know they only sent it because they reblogged it from you right afterwards. I actually feel a tiny spike of jealousy every time I see my “core” partners playing with other versions of my character, if I perceive that version as being better than mine. Happened with Tony. Happened with Loki. Happens with Noct. Didn’t happen much with Alistair, but I only saw a couple other Ali blogs and I admit to being an arrogant punk who wasn’t threatened by them. I just don’t really bring it up because I’m self-aware enough to know it’s pretty irrational.

Uh, so, I started rping on tumblr back in 2012, in the MCU fandom. People replied with full-sized gifs. Acknowledging you knew multiple versions of the same character was pretty standard because it was Marvel, it had a multiverse. And people have gotten steadily more and more up each other’s asses the longer I’ve been around. Like, I had one Incident on Tony’s blog, because the person I took issue with flat out didn’t read my rules and shit hit the fan because of it in a big way, but I didn’t actually see people trying to police each other over every stupid thing too much. Though I also didn’t really know any of my partners there. There was a Loki I shipped with and he was a big part of plots on my blog, but I think I talked to the mun OOC like twice.

Anyway, I don’t exactly know how this works, so I’ll just answer all the questions my tagger did and maybe a couple more at the end. (wow this is exciting :D)

Okay then.

Name: I’m Konrad, and my gamertag/username is Fluffybombs on most sites.

Height: I’m 6′ 2″ (yeh I’m tall :L)

Hogwarts House: Slytherin. But I’m the Slytherin that always hangs out with the Griffindor kids and doesn’t care about the Dark Side of the Force or whatever. (sorry to all the geeks that just cringed at the cross-fandom reference there, but I stand by the metaphor)

Go-to SSBB character: I played a Kirby main in Brawl, so I’ll always feel comfortable with him, although I probably use Toon Link more often in competitive matches, but since Smash 4 came out, Pikachu is my main, so I’d feel okay playing Brawl with Pikachu too.

Fictional character I’d date: I don’t know, honestly. Dating is weird. I feel like there a lot of characters I’d get along with from all kinds of fandoms, but I’m not sure if there’s any I’d want to date. When I figure out how dating works I might have an idea. :L

Favorite band or artist: I like all kinds of music, and as an artist and budding music producer myself, I have a lot of respect for a lot of different artists, but a few honorable mentions (I suppose) would have to go to Owl City (with his amazing and inspiring music), Tally Hall (the only actual band I listen to), Daft Punk (just because), and Pentatonix (for being amazing singers that inspire me to push my range every day :D)

When did I make this blog: Close to four years ago I guess? Pretty soon after I got my laptop, my sister told me I should set up a Tumblr, so I guess that was around 3.5-ish years ago.

How many blogs do I follow: 896 (Is that a lot? I feel like that’s a lot. :/ ) And that’s with 15,097 likes, as of first making this post, so I don’t know if that a normal ratio or whatever, but there you go.

Do I get asks on a regular basis: Nope! I never get anything! I’ve only ever even been mentioned twice, which is why I was so excited to get this! :D Thanks again! (My followers are good to me, though. :L When I’m regularly posting I get about 15-20 notes a week, so thanks again, guys!)

Aesthetic: Bright artsy stuff, weapons, dragons (woo dragons!), anything with that “valor” type glory, nerdy tech stuff, cute stuff, unironic glitter, really ironic glitter, super dark and legitimately edgy stuff... but with one really lighthearted thing thrown in, super bizarre and random junk, and all of these things together, especially the cute-but-also-hardcore feel, also, tiny birbs peeking out from places. (idk, it’s a thing)

BONUS QUESTIONS So, I’m just gonna add these because I’m legitimately curious and I’m not sure how, officially, this is supposed to work. Answer these if you want, but I guess since all the questions are optional... idk, just... here they are. Favorite emoticon/emoji: I don’t really use emoji that often, and when I can I use emoticons instead, so my favorite emoticon is :L because no one else really uses it, and it pretty much exactly expresses my feelings about everything in existence always. (on another note, it’s weird that text emoji are called emoticons when they actually have the word “icon“ in the name, which implies a picture... but I guess emoji is Japanese... or...? idk I’m not gonna try to understand it, but if someone feels like telling me, feel free) Favorite food: Well, this is kind of a trick question from me, because I don’t really have a favorite food, but I would like to know what your favorite foods are, and I’d also like to say that even though there are lots of foods I like, food is the best when it actually feels healthy to eat. I’m not sure if that makes sense to anyone else, but that’s what I like. Social Label - Are you a geek? Nerd? Jock? What?: Not that this is important, but again, I’m curious. I’m mostly a geek, but I’m enough of a nerd that I’m a nerd to my geek friends and welcome amongst the nerds. I don’t know how strongly established amongst the Internet and Tumblr these labels are, so I don’t expect thems to be definitive. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Pet peeve: I’m kinda surprised this isn’t on here, so I thought I’d add it. So mostly my peeves are related to using poor grammar, or when companies spell something wrong on purpose (Krazy Glue, etc), but the paramount of all of those is when people call LEGO bricks legos (idk why but I can’t let it go). It’s also irritating when people who claim to be serious fans can’t pronounce Pokémon (poh-kay-mon, btw) and other stuff like that, but I feel like maybe that’s different.  Allergies: (I have lots so I want to hear about yours. :D) I’m going to list all my dietary modifications, but technically not all of them are due to my allergies. So, I’m allergic to most preservatives, and hydrogenated oils, and basically everything artificial or synthetic, as well as peanuts (but only a little), and raspberry products (pretty much anything made of or with raspberries, but not raspberries themselves). I also don’t drink milk, because my sister is lactose intolerant (even though she’s the only one in the house who drinks milk now), and I have a hypersensitivity to mold/maybe other things, so I have an allergic reaction sometimes when I eat melon that isn’t super fresh. Also, I don’t eat beef or pork, which is just a diet I grew up on because that is how my mother chooses to eat. There’s no term for it, that I’m aware of, other than pseudovegetarian or something, and my friends frequently think I’m vegetarian even though I’m not. Also, I’m hypoglycemic, but I won’t get into that.

Why did I join Tumblr: Like I said before, my sister encouraged me to start my account, but I had already planned to, it was just a matter of waiting for the appropriate time. I joined Tumblr partly as a consumer, looking for art blogs to inspire me, and people to meet and befriend, but mostly I came here to start my art blog and get my art out there.
