Amazon Prime is the streaming service that took it up Season 1 will be released in January 2024

It's going to get a season 2

The voice actors still haven't been announced for some reason? The trailer has no dialogue on top of that. We see Lucifer, a lot of Alastor and Vox fighting, the weird demon-looking angel Adam, a meeting of Hell overlords discussing the angel threats, and Sir Pentious is part of the gang now. That's about it? The trailer's music reminds me of a Disney movie for kids. There are a lot of Tinkerbell chime noises and jazzy upbeat music which I don't think is fitting for what the show is trying to go for as a teen-to-adult plot regarding demons from Hell being murdered and dealing with abuse. (They have "Guess what, bitches?" on a text screen in the trailer too) So first impression is extreme overcrowding. List of characters that appear in the trailer alone: Charlie Alastor Vaggie Angel Dust Husker Niffty Sir Pentious Lucifer Lilith Vox Velvet Adam Rosie and we all know Cherri Bomb and Valentino are gonna show up too. These are way too many characters to introduce or juggle in an 8 episode season. There is no possible way to give our main characters enough screen time, focus, or development to make them meaningful protagonists. They either have to rush plots or drop character arcs to squeeze things into 8 episodes.

#really confused and surprised theres a season 2 announced when season 1 hasnt even been released yet #but it is A24 so maybe theyre more willing with their money than netflix or disney #im confused as to why it was announced as soon as the writers strike ended #because season 1 was finished and it was nothing but streaming service deals and PR team stuff happening at that point #so i dont think that is hte reason #it had to have been a streaming service deal still being refined #i just dont see anything meanful in the announcement trailer so #we'll have to wait for the official one #hazbin hotel #hazbin hotel critical #im kinda sad that im not excited anymore #i waited years for this series #but after helluva boss season 2 #ive kinda learned what to expect and i dont think its gonna be any good #especially because it breaks a ton of religious lore rules #and that means the world building is gonna be a mess #watch charlie vaggie and niffty get no development #everyone is still also very very red #the thumbnail alone... who are we meant to focus on? #im so tired

Okay I do think that laios's weird frenemy deals with toshiro and kabru are a lot more interesting than the party's relationships with each other so far. I love it when characters have genuine beef with each other and I think for only being in a few episodes, toshiro and kabru both get as much development as any of the main characters, probably more than chilchuck and senshi

All these fics about Kabbu and Leif sharing a bed for "shipping reasons" or whatever are a fool's move. Give us the bee! Acknowledge Team Snakemouth's canonical inn arrangements of "all three of them sleep in the same bed" you coward! We aren't here for "romance" or "pairing the boys together because they're the stock standard Shippable Men", we're here for bed sharing!

Team Snakemouth consists of three bugs, and they absolutely should get fic with inconvenient and uncomfortable sleeping arrangements where Vi somehow monopolizes 90% of the bed despite being physically smaller than everyone else, Leif is banished to the very edge of the bed for being Cold, and Kabbu dumps both of his teammates on the floor on accident when he wakes up from a nightmare. The bed sharing fic that we deserve as a fandom should be rooted in deep inconvenience and it should contain at least one instance of someone getting kicked in the ribs, and that's our firm opinion.

Shin and Midori are almost the only characters in yttd that have a whole scene dedicated to them messing with someone’s PTSD

It’s a really good parallel and shows just how messed up Shin’s actions were and how he ended up acting more like Midori even after he stopped trying to. The only person that went as far as Shin did was an actual cultist serial killer and one of the people responsible for the death game happening in the first place

It also highlights their differences because of how and why they do what they do. Shin does it because he thinks he’s justified, and it’s also an impulsive decision made right after Kanna is killed. He’s not there to laugh at Sara when she finds the Joe AI, we don’t even know how he feels about the whole thing after the fact (I don’t think giving Sara amnesia was an intended consequence. I wonder how he reacted when he found out). But Midori makes a whole show out of messing with Keiji, and he had to have planned the whole thing in advance to make the Mr. Policeman doll. He also doesn’t hide behind revenge or a greater good, he just torments people for fun

It really shows how Shin is just that close to being on Hiyori’s level, but he’s not there yet, and the scales could be tipped to either side depending on what happens next

#I don't think shin messing with the joe ai makes him irredeemable but it's still horrible and gets more horrible the more I think about it #anyway I'm obsessed with the idea of Shin getting a reality check from Midori praising his cruelty #we'll likely never get that but I can imagine Sou going on a whole speech about how he's just So Proud of what Shin did with the Joe AI #he truly has learned a lot. #and that's a wrap people! #i really liked it #it was cute and a lot of fun #i do wish we got a bit more character development but otherwise i didn't have too many issues #looking back early episodes don't show the bowzock as they are like in the first few episodes they're perverted in a sense but that #basically diminishes a lot very quickly just in case that's not something you want to see #there's a lot of flashing lights early on but they lessen over time but do note they are still there #i didn't talk about it much but i really enjoyed kosuke and zonnette's romance and how that played out #i think minoru and kyosuke had the strongest character focused episodes and are standouts for this one #natsumi is close behind with naoki and unfortunately youko just didn't get the time like the others #although a lot of the characters shined through antics and bc kyosuke and minoru were very carefree and silly they did draw #attention hence why i could say more for them than the others #this is really just a fun sentai with a lot of antics and out there logic so definitely something i'd enjoy #next will be megaranger and then we'll see from there :) #umbrella.thoughts #umbrella.posts #carranger lb #super sentai lb

parting thoughts on ragna crimson (first cour)

i think it was... the first episode? that i didn't really vibe with. felt like a decent enough fantasy, but unremarkable in just about every way

iirc it wasn't until the second week that we really met crimson, which is kind of a shame because imo the show doesn't really start to come together until then. i like ragna well enough, but it's really the combination of the two of them that compels me

always love a duo where they have the same goal, but drastically different personalities/values/modes of operation/etc

always extra love a duo that's like "team up with me, a dragon, to kill all dragons then once we've achieved our goal you'll kill me too"

(like vanoe but with dragons. i think. my memories of vnc are actually very hazy)

and always extra extra love when ayu gets to just do his thing, playing guys who are girls who are guys who are etc etc etc

it's certainly not the best of the season, and still overall fairly unremarkable imo, but also not really bad in any way. if there's one thing i find lackluster i guess it's that i feel like they don't lean enough into this... pseudo-past life thing that ragna has going on (with the powers and presumably memories of his 'older self' passed down to him)

like ragna is still more or less his 'normal' self in terms of personality, which is fine, he's got a fun enough personality, but if he had some like... old man tendencies mixed in there, or if we saw more of his memories with crimson maybe? i don't know, just feels like something more could have been done with that fusion of past and present (or rather future and present)

looking forward to the second cour but at the same time... hoping this series won't be too long lol

Very weird to be in that stage where a show is grabbing hold of your brain, but you haven't finished the show so you cant interact with fandom because spoilers, and you're watching it with someone else so you can't even just keep watching until you finish

stacy from the music freaks is a one dimensional, useless character that serves nothing to the series besides getting in the way of lander and being a pick me girl.

she's so boring, how could anyone have her as a favorite let alone like her? her design is so mid, and her writing is worse. she's annoying and she also kisses luke without consent (which is something NO ELSE in the series ever did, because zander totally didn't do that either)

and while we're on the subject of the series' character writing, can we talk about zoey? her character is so complex, totally strays away from the stereotypical blonde mean girl – i'm so glad we got to explore the reason why she acts the way she does and how the show definitely explores the subject of her manipulating grown men and her classmates for money! and let's not forget, how the show explored her relationship with lia aka her supposed bff who she totally didn't get over in just a few seconds! wow what a well written and deep character!!

also luke definitely has a character outside being zander's love interest. definitely.
