YOOOO! HazbinHotel Trailer just Drop!😱 Spoilers Along with the Release date of Season 1 and 2! Let Us know your Opinion about it!😆
Some things we know:
Amazon Prime is the streaming service that took it up Season 1 will be released in January 2024
It's going to get a season 2
The voice actors still haven't been announced for some reason? The trailer has no dialogue on top of that. We see Lucifer, a lot of Alastor and Vox fighting, the weird demon-looking angel Adam, a meeting of Hell overlords discussing the angel threats, and Sir Pentious is part of the gang now. That's about it? The trailer's music reminds me of a Disney movie for kids. There are a lot of Tinkerbell chime noises and jazzy upbeat music which I don't think is fitting for what the show is trying to go for as a teen-to-adult plot regarding demons from Hell being murdered and dealing with abuse. (They have "Guess what, bitches?" on a text screen in the trailer too) So first impression is extreme overcrowding. List of characters that appear in the trailer alone: Charlie Alastor Vaggie Angel Dust Husker Niffty Sir Pentious Lucifer Lilith Vox Velvet Adam Rosie and we all know Cherri Bomb and Valentino are gonna show up too. These are way too many characters to introduce or juggle in an 8 episode season. There is no possible way to give our main characters enough screen time, focus, or development to make them meaningful protagonists. They either have to rush plots or drop character arcs to squeeze things into 8 episodes.

Dating Alastor Would Include
who doesn't want a date with this literal cannibal
-he's withdrawn in public. He doesn't want Vox the public to see him being romantic with anyone, so PDA is off the table. He doesn't mind small gestures in the hotel where there are limited eyes.
-he would only confide in the hotel staff and Rosie about his relationship with you. It's not that he's ashamed of it, he doesn't want you to become a target because you're with him. So your relationship is mostly a secret. He doesn't want you telling your friends you're with him either.
-he's very gentle when touching you, surprisingly. His claws are sharp and capable of so much damage he never wants to inflict on you, and your skin is so soft. He'd gently trace shapes on your skin with a claw tip just to see his fingernail dance across your sensitive complexion.
-he's happy to cook for anyone in the hotel, even Angel. So of course he'd be happy to cook for you as well. He'd be over the moon if you asked for a Creole dish. He whips up a delicious crawfish étouffée. But really, he'll cook whatever you want.
-he's very warm by nature, literally. He feels like he's running a fever but that's his normal body temperature. He makes a great cuddle buddy when no one is looking. He'll be big spoon or little spoon, it doesn't matter to him. He just likes to know you're close.
-shockingly he has separation anxiety. How this developed he'll never tell a single soul, but whenever you're not around he has nervous tics, like biting his clawed fingernails or pacing or scratching the wood of the bar table until it starts to decay, ruining the wood. Husk jokes that you're tied to Alastor's hip because he's so emotionally dependent on you.
-he'll convince you to try demon meat at least once. Don't say, "oh I'm not easy to convince!" this man has his ways. If you like it he's pleased and will buy you only the highest quality meat. If you're not a fan of it he understands, you need a specific taste to like it, and will respect that you don't like it. That said, he'll probably slip a little into your food regardless of your opinion of it. Not enough to taste, just enough to say he gave you some.
-Alastor is very...protective. He isn't the type to get violent unless necessary, he'd rather creep out his query than attack them, but he's not afraid to get aggressive if need be. He can and will fuck someone up, that's assuming he doesn't decide they look tasty and do the exterminator's job for them. He doesn't like when other men get close to you, he takes that as a challenge. That said, all the men in the hotel have learned to keep their distance from you to avoid Alastor's wrath. Charlie, Vaggie and Niffty can get as close as they please, he doesn't see them as a threat to his relationship with you.
-if you happen to have a cat-like appearance he'd love to pet you, stroke you and feed you catnip just to watch you go crazy. Vaggie doesn't like him giving you catnip, you always get the zoomies and break something by mistake and end up crying over it but he gives it to you anyway, just to see you act ridiculous. When you're in the cute purring phase of catnip he'll rub your head and tell you how cute you are and ask if he can have a slice of that cutie pie.

more obvious shit I wanted to point out but it's more than last time uhhh pt.2 (spoilers for dad beat dad and maybe welcome to heaven. Maybe?)
Tumblr media
I love that Charlie just randomly goes into demon form sometimes like here ehhehehe. Also can I just say I love Charlie so much?? She is my favorite and I love her especially in this episode because it feels like the same optimistic Charlie but she was just put in a bad situation. I relate to her a bit TOO much, almost down to every detail like wow. You'll understand later once I get there. But just wow...
Tumblr media
LOOK AT THIS FUNNY LITTLE MAN. SPOODER DUST <3 also. Live [image] reaction. Someone make that into a reaction image 🙏🙏
Tumblr media
HONEY!!! NEW MEME TEMPLATE JUST DROPPED. (Aka the one guy going crazy trying to explain the stuff on the board iykyk)
Tumblr media
OMG... THAT CANT BE CHARLIE... NOT CHARLIE'S EMO PHASE PLEASE BAHAHAHHAHAHA (also love that Lucifer has kept it all these years, if Charlie knew I think she'd be extremely embarrassed. Vaggie would love it probably xd)
Tumblr media
HE IS SO GOOFY I CANT- I LOVE HIM SO MUCH ALREADY!!! NEED.
Tumblr media
Broskie got character development and is NICE?!? I LOVE THAT SMMM YALL.... LOOK AT HIM!! I am very delusional yes, but I will take this over ass development(cough. Vaggie's "story" in ep 3. Cough).
Tumblr media
Imagine this. *holds your hand carefully to help you calm down while talking to your father you haven't really wanted to talk to.* lesbian type stuff ngl 🤯 (relatable)
Tumblr media
Angel looking at the gays while being a gay too. HE'S BEING SO KIND TO CHARLIE UGGHH I CANTTT!!(POS) NODDING HIS HEAD, SMILING TO HER, ALSO TRYING TO HELP CALM HER DOWN. I MAY BE ASS AT SOCIAL CUES BUT I NOTICED THIS ONE!! YAA
*SHE IS STILL HOLDING HER HAND. CHARLIE'S ALSO SWINGING IT AROUND NERVOUSLY. I can never get tired of them and will make art soon just you wait.*
Tumblr media
COMMANDER VAGGIE! I love that she acts like this is a camp full of tiny kids and honestly? That's not too far off. Sir pentious is at the ready! (glad he's here more often in the episode, thought he would just get sidelined after his first episode but gladly no!) Angel is just surprised. Husk spilled his drink, ON WHITE FUR NO LESS! Niffty of course is on the floor face first. Charlie is just happy to be there yippee!
Tumblr media
What is this?? I have no idea what the hell it is at all. Bro is just peepin- it doesn't look like Alastor, even in demon form. And... I can't think of anyone else who could be this. Anyone have ideas or maybe it's foreshadowing? Maybe it was revealed in the 6th episode I don't know I haven't watched it yet. (I am a freak. I don't binge I give myself a day to watch a single episode. Most of the time uhhh.)
Tumblr media
WE LOVE A SHORT KING. I LOVE THAT. I LOVE HIM. THE EVERYTHING. HE IS EVERYTHING. LET ME STRANGLE HIM PLEASE. (Lillith and Lucifer's dynamic is 100% Gomez and Morticia but a little more silly short man)
Tumblr media
"OH WOW! AN OLDER MAN WHO GIVES ME FATHERLY CARE!" *STARTS TO FUCKING CRY*
I FEEL YOU CHARLIE WAAAGHHH
Tumblr media
Oh and there goes the silly guy again! Atp I'm thinking it may be the gal some people been talking about that they've been hinting since the pilot. I forgot her name but she's said to be the big bad of season 1 or probably 2. Not sure if that's what it's trying to imply but here's my little no-thought idea
Tumblr media
Lucifer, no...
Tumblr media
LUCIFER NO!! THIS IS SUCH AN ADORABLE RESPONSE TO CHARLIE DATING A WOMAN. (ADOPT ME)
Tumblr media
AND THEN THE HUG! I GET IM LOOKING TOO MUCH INTO THIS ONE SILLY SCENE BUT I JUST LOVE IT SO MUCH AND WANT THIS SO BAD IN MY LIFE.
Tumblr media
Niffty really said, "Yes, I do the cleaning."
Get yourself a taller king who is a short king but compared to you is a tall king
Tumblr media
Say what you will, but I genuinely want more dad Alastor, someone make an au before I do plsss and @ me 🙏🙏
Tumblr media
alright.. now this is where it starts to be relatable and hurt my heart... yayy.... needing any sort of parent figure that actually cares about you than the actual parent who is rarely there? WOWZA! SAME CHARLIE <3 <3 (SO FAR VERY ACCURATE FROM SOMEONE THAT IS IN THE SAME SITUATION)
Tumblr media
Alastor is letting her off kindly, atleast in his way. He may be pissed off she brought a shark gang to the hotel and put it on fire, but they were still close friends. With anyone else he would absolutely either murder them or have severely traumatized the person. She's the exception, although I don't think he'd let it off the hook so easily if there were a next time.
Tumblr media
A father-daughter embrace! :,)
Tumblr media
(This is gonna be messy asf) He wants to know who she is as a person. He always has, and that's definitely obvious, but from a person inside this, they may not know themselves what the other is thinking. To Charlie it was like he never cared and just wanted an excuse to not see her again, acting like he was truly busy as in the start where he made the rubber duck that breathed fire. Sure. But Charlie saw it as him finding ways to not interact with her again. The only times they talk was when it was related to business stuff or other things of the sort. Let me just say this song... is by far my favorite, including the episode. Sure, it's got problems it's own, but this extremely accurate portrayal of what my own situation with one of my parents just stole my entire soul. Yeah I got a bit of tears about to come out, BUT NOPE! NOT TODAY! I don't ever cry during shows or movies so if I ever get teary-eyed, YOU DID SOMETHING. THAT SOMETHING BEING GOOD. This episode was emotional and connected with me on a deep level that I dont think any film has ever done to me, which is weird because I've been actively trying to find one, any one that does. Then to find it in an indie company from a creator who has achieved the dreams that I myself want to one day? That's fucking amazing.
Tumblr media
FORESHADOWING! FROESHADOWING! FORESHADOWING! VAGGIE EX-ANGEL THEORY MUST BE CANON AND IF ITS NOT I WILL TEAR MYSELF LIMB FROM LIMB WITH A CROWBAR. LETS GO TO HEAVENNN!!! TOMORROW! BECAUSE THE DAY I PUBLISH THIS WILL BE TOMORROW(FOR YOU TODAY) BUT TOMORROW FOR YOU ILL POST THE NEXT WHAT I CAUGHT SHENANIGANS AGAIN! SEE YA!

I don't like Vaggie getting retconned into an angel
(This one is more of a personal opinion/complaint/vent. I'm just trying to analyze why exactly I dislike this plot change. Viewer discretion is adviced)
Tumblr media
When the leaks first said that would happen, I chose to believe it was fake until the very last second. I remember even denying it in my mind when I started watching season 1, hoping that they haven't implemented such a change....
Because the sinner Vaggie premise had so many interesting possibilities - of making her a person, someone interesting on her own, when separated from Charlie
Her sex worker past (meaning the incoming bonding with Angel Dust over shared trauma), her life in El Salvador, her death age that was supposed to be very young (early 20s dead in 2014) contrasting the other hotel residents exept for Niffty (who's from 50s), an interesting dynamic with Charlie where a human sinner gets together with an ancient demon princess - we were promised all of that.
The fandom built plenty of fancontent on the "sinner Vaggie" basis and got used to it. Not many expected an angel Vaggie, and I remember a lot of people saying that would be too obvious and boring and that that wouldn't happen
And in reality, it turned out to be even worse, in my opinion. Now Vaggie is literally one of the faceless Barbie dolls mass produced by Adam. She's so unimportant in-universe, she got broken and thrown away when she was no longer in use. Very symbolic, don't you think?
Her boss, Adam, is objectively more interesting than she is now! By becoming his inferior, Vaggie lost her miniscule interesting features in favour of being outshined by a male character! The one who mistreated her too. So typical... never change since the pilot era
To add salt to the injury, we learned that Vaggie IS in fact, short for Vagina, and that this "charming" name was given her by Adam, the sexist murderous pig! And she kept that name, as if actually liking it! Great!
(Vaggie being short for Vagatha was still unpleasant because Vivzie's dumb humour was obvious through and through, but a lot less offensive than what we actually got)
(And wow thanks a lot for that Vagatha joke with Sir Pentious. Way to mock the viewers by accentuating what was lost)
Also, Vaggie has basically no backstory now - "she was a murderer, then BAM she's not a murderer anymore, and out of nowhere she became a love interest for the main character". And her sparing a child was honestly such a cheap attempt at pulling at the viewer's heartstrings... why did she spend so many years murdering everyone in her way (making her the most effective exorcist, according to Adam himself!) but suddenly decided not to kill a child sinner? Were there no other child sinners before that one? Besides, it's hell, girl! That child could have drove his peer to suicide or killed animals for all we know!
And we are seriously supposed to care about a character who was a boring basic warrior intended for mass murdering just a while ago? Sure, that cliche can actually work with the right portrayal, but not like this! (Personally, I really felt my interest to Vaggie drop when the angel plot twist was revealed, it was like a cold shower)
That leaves Vaggie no choices of showing any personality whatsoever other than clinging to Charlie and having every moment of her life revolve around being with the princess, loving her and helping her. No thoughts, hobbies, world views and goals of her own. Come on, that's so bland!
Vaggie basically just changed one owner to another - from Adam to Charlie, to completely dissolve in their needs and wants instead of devoting some time to her own (which she can't have because she was born as a slave - that is if exorcists are created by Adam)
I feel like I shouldn't complain. I want to believe that if angel Vaggie was given time and space to develop, I'd like her, but really no... the very idea of making her part of Heaven was still-born to begin with, given the nature of hazbin hotel. This cartoon shot itself in the foot with an awful pacing. In the light of that, making Vaggie a significant part of a plotline that had no time to shine was a choice to avoid
And angel Vaggie should have stayed an urban legend in the fandom instead of making it into the show. I feel sad that for me Vaggie was ruined as Hazbin Hotel's aspect I could have enjoyed
I hope she at least gets more interesting interactions with Charlie and other characters in season 2. The ones in season 1 were not so bad, even if they're not the ones I wanted. And I'm still going to love Vaggie out of habit even if she's not the same anymore. Maybe I'll come around and start loving her as an angel eventually 🤞
P.S. why did they change the delicate white colour of her dress and the light pink colour of her bow to bright red shirt and bow? If she's a angel, wouldn't it have made more sense for her to be wearing pallette that has a bit of white in it to make her stand out? Even in that regard a questionable decision was made, dear god...

Okay so I recently watched Hazbin Hotel. And I really like Chaggie so looking at some of the comments about the relationship online I noticed that a lot of people's negative opinions about the couple kind of revolve around Vaggie's seemingly one-sided utter Devotion to Charlie and her being so differential to Charlie but I actually think this may be a storytelling device.
(lets not talk about people saying they dont have chemistry - they 100% act just like an old married lesbian couple)
hear me out because if I am right I may have cracked the code to redemption.
from what I can tell of the Sinners they actually over exemplify or are consumed almost by their sins .
Alastor is probably Pride or Wrath, Angel Dust is Lust and Envy (he shows some self hate/self distructive behaviors as well), Husk is greed, Niffty is violence/wrath.
So what is Vaggies sin?
we know that she was originally not a sinner so she didn't have a human sin to be incorporated into her character which is why she looks the most human.
Her fall from Heaven, (if you want to call it that because, let's be honest none of the other angels knew or casted her out) was either caused by
1) her Devotion to her own morals and eventually disagreeing to what the angels were doing,
2) devotion to the exterminators leading to a loss of self, which she realized only when she defied Lute.
Or 3) the self hatred she developed after realizing how horrible Adam and the exterminators are.
so now that she's Fallen she's kind of taken on being a sinner and since her sin was devotion/self hatred she has transferred her devotion onto the one person she sees as being worth it, the most morally correct person she knows, the person who saved her life Charlie.
This may actually not be a bad thing. I think Charlie's devotion back and general good nature allows for this to avoid toxicity. She encourages Vaggie to be her own person, to forgive herself and to love herself. They are actually quite balanced in my opinion. I also think Vaggie getting her wings back shows that she is close to or maybe already redeemed.
( and lets all agree for all that Charlie is Hellborn she is the most selfless and good person we've met on the show - makes me wonder if a hellborn dies with a good soul would they have always gone to heaven? Was this perhaps one of the reasons the hellborn were exempt from the extermination? Look I have theories about Charlie actually being more Angel than Demon. )
Now Onto my redemption theory!
What if the way to redemption isn't so much being Pure but breaking out of the behaviors that are toxic?
I think Sir Pentious was redeemed because he stopped being selfish. He stopped being a coward and envious. His last act was one of selfless sacrifice in the end he overcame his own fears and limits for someone else. The reasons it's never been done before is because Hell by it's very nature puts them in a place where this is basically impossible. To survive you have to be selfish or cowardly or more violent than everyone else.
This also mean there is a the possibility that if an angel is bad like Adam and dies they could reincarnate in hell as a sinner.

I present unto thee this persistent thought:
(Hazbin Hotel and Dark Souls 3 crossover idea)
(You brought this on yourself by accepting that Supernatural crossover ask lol; I wasn't going to send crossover asks at all)
Someone very strange somehow finds their way to the Hotel. Someone who wears strange clothes, has enchanted rings, and smells of ash, but doesn't speak any language known to any of the residents (even Lucifer).
The Hazbin cast start calling their newest resident "Ash" because they don't know Ash's real name (unbeknownst to them, neither does Ash, anymore).
Ash, until they realize what the others' names are, mentally refers to them by descriptors. Having been in the Abyss for millennia, they haven't had any social interaction in just as much time- not since they gave Gael's remains to the Painter and watched their homeworld die- so they're slow to pick up on cues.
Ash turns out to be truly sweet, helping out around the Hotel and developing a unique bond with each of the others despite the language (and societal) barrier.
Charlie is just over the moon to have Ash present and helping out. Ash likes her, but is worried about her getting hurt; she seems to rush into things too quickly.
Vaggie is cautious of Ash, but likes sparring with them. Ash likes sparring with Vaggie, but also fears killing her on accident so they end up throwing the match any time they think they're about to go too far.
Angel thinks Ash is weird, but has an absolute blast dressing them up in various fashions. Ash likes Angel's fashion sense, and heals his wounds whenever they realize he's hurt. They don't know if he's noticed.
Husk appreciates Ash's quiet company, but he WILL get that mead recipe from them someday! Ash is just happy to have someone to share Siegbräu with again.
Alastor finds the mystery surrounding Ash fascinating, and treats them similarly to Charlie as a result. Ash worries that, with all of the people Alastor eats, that he'll end up like Aldrich (who ate so many people he turned into a goop) or Gael (who started eating souls and, after countless ages of torment, went Hollow in the end). They'll bring him things he likes to eat, but Ash also keeps a close eye on him afterwards.
Niffty thinks Ash is scary. She can't explain it, and she can't do anything about it, but she avoids them when possible. Ash just wants to know what they did to unsettle Niffty. So does the rest of the Hotel.
Lucifer knows that Ash isn't actually a Sinner. He hasn't figured out what they are, yet, but he's keeping a close eye on them. Ash only notices the scrutinizing glares when they're around Charlie, Vaggie, or Alastor, and draws the conclusion that Lucifer is protective over Charlie and Vaggie because of familial bonds and somehow draws the conclusion that Lucifer must be jealous of how close they're getting to Alastor. It's not that Lucifer only glares at them when they're around those three, that's just when Ash notices it. (Ash later attempts to wingman for Lucifer, multiple times, and it always ends in varying degrees of disaster.)
With the exception of Niffty, none of them even think to consider Ash as potentially dangerous. They're too kind, after all.
Then Ash spots an assassination attempt on Charlie's life and stops it, permanently killing the assassin in the process. The others didn't even realize that something happened until Ash sat down at the dinner table and began eating like nothing was wrong... With an angelic spear still sticking out of their forehead.
when i skimmed i thought this was about pokemon

Episode 1 really feels like episode 2 and some things/plot seem like season 2. [Hey they probably didn't know there getting two seasons.] But if you didn't seem the pilot and you didn't know these character. Then you just get throw in and All these characters are just there.
Exactly. . . . Viv should've realized by now that not EVERY BEING ON EARTH watched the pilot before putting the show in production. Regardless, you still need to take time to develop your story and characters. It's all about taking things slow. Focus on the main thing first (all the while throwing in some hints about a reveal here and there) THEN you can focus on something else. Even if there's a second arc you want to explore (in each episode mainly) have it be your B plot. B plots are technically stories focused on your secondary characters. Plus, the letter B is second to A, meaning #2. So have the focus on your secondary characters be your #2 plot instead of your #1 plot (your main plot).
For instance, your #1 main plot; focus on Charlie trying to figure out a way to redeem her sinners and send them to heaven. Meanwhile, we can also focus on Angel in a few episodes, and explore his troubles working for Valentino, being your #2 plot. Maybe while Charlie can focus on achieving her goal, she and the rest of the characters can help Angel get out of his situation. And since Viv really wants to make this show about relationships between characters, she can try and develop some sort of bond between Angel and Charlie. I bring up Charlie cuz he was the first to accept her offer to live in the hotel, even though he doesn't believe in the idea of redeeming sinners. A friendship could blossom between the two and Angel could have more trust in Charlie. Charlie is fully aware of the troubles Angel is having now and should be more determined than anything to help him get out of his situation. And if Viv wants to give him a boyfriend, she can WAIT on that.
Another thing to work on is focusing on the main characters' conflict, what they're up against, and the story involving them first, THEN you can introduce new ones and focus on their arc (without fast-pacing it).
We already have a conflict going on with the villainous Angels and them exterminating sinners and we've introduced Adam and Lute as our first new antagonists. They can stay as our main antagonist until the season ends. We DO NOT need another conflict involving Vox figuring out a way to bring down Alastor in that same season (with only eight episodes mind you). That can wait for another season. Viv will probably forget about that shit anyway.
Don't just make things clear for newcomers, do the same for people who already watched the pilot, cuz there are at least some hints they aren't gonna grasp that they are meant to already know. Me for example: It came as a shock to me that Husk was an overlord.
... Actually, shocked isn't the right word. But it was unexpected.
Some people say that pilot watchers should've already taken the hint that Husk was in Overlord in the pilot just cuz of a picture scene that was shown:
Tumblr media
In the pilot, Vaggie tells Angel about Alastor, and the picture of him and all the other overlords is shown. If you look closely, Husk is standing right behind Alastor (so is Niffty), Okay . . . I can understand them hinting at the "overlord Husk" thing by showing him as a silhouette, making it hard to recognize him. Then again, this is completely brushed over in like 3 seconds with the camera moving upward with Husk is off-screen. So of course I'm not gonna immediately see him and theorize that he was an overlord. That's why it came off-guard when he revealed it. Not only that, but NIFFTY is there too!? She's right beside Alastor, shown as a silhouette along with Husk and the rest of the Overlords. So what . . . you're gonna tell me that Niffty was an overlord too, but then made a deal with Alastor at some point and ended up losing her title?? (Seriously, PLEASE don't tell me that) No way in hell u can convince me she was an overlord too just cuz she was shown here. IDK why she's shown here. There's not much character in her anyway apart from "Hehe! Me is psycho! Me like bad boys! Hehe!"

hello! i'd love to hear your thoughts on hazbin hotel's writing :] i really like the show, but i'm not really sure if i think it's...good? if that makes sense. so i'd love a second opinion :O
oh my god thank you so much for sending this ask bc ive been thinking about this for sooooo long ive got a lot to say about this show. picture that scene in the first episode where charlie whips out her longass pile of drawings to explain the hotel. that's me rn i have many things good and bad to say about this show. first off im gonna keep it a buck fifty with you anyone genuinely saying this show is really bad needs to watch more shows. watch supernatural season 13 or something. this was not by any stretch of the imagination a bad show for me writing-wise and even the criticisms i have here are mostly nitpicks
i actually think they did a pretty good job given the constraints they had. 8 episodes with 25 minutes each is a ridiculously small amount of time. that's less than 4 hours total to tell this whole story and develop, what, 6 main characters? and introduce major antagonists and the minor antagonists for the next season. i don't know how much they had to cut but i'm willing to bet it was a substantial amount since the show in-universe takes place over the span of 6 months. like i know everyone says this about the show but i really do feel bad that they were given such a short amount of time because it's pretty clear to me that there's a lot of passion put behind this project
i've heard a lot of people say that they have issues with the pacing of the show and i kind of agree. i think the timeline of the plot is kind of weird with episode 1 taking place 6 months from the extermination and episode 2 taking place very soon after. if i remember correctly we don't know when episodes 3 and 4 take place but episodes 5, 6, and 7 all take place back to back probably because they didn't want to shove angel, husk, and sir pentious' major character development right at the end of the series as the plot came to its climax. i think i can understand that reasoning but it does make for a very odd structure and leave the story feeling rushed near the end. i don't know what could have fixed this because having vaggie and charlie visit heaven earlier would have meant that a lot of the show had a higher sense of tension and i think that would've been worse. idk. i understand the criticism and i agree with it i just don't know what could have fixed it
the songs are banger. obviously. that's what happens when you hire half of the living tombstone to write your songs theyre just going to be sick as hell. loser, baby was my favorite and the one from dad beat dad was a close second i liked it a lot. i also think they did a great job developing all of the characters and giving them really solid character arcs with a couple exceptions, mostly alastor, niffty, and vaggie. i'll touch on that in a second. to me angel dust is the emotional core of the show and i really like him and husk. theyre my favorites ill b so sad if they get wrenched apart next season
i have some thoughts on vaggie and this comes from a place of love because i think she's an example of a really great character concept with a not-so-great execution. here's what i think. the writers seem to have a tendency of only giving vaggie big character moments that are tied to her relationship with charlie. and it bugs me a little bit. im not saying that vaggie being charlie's girlfriend has to be a smaller part of her character but every time we get a moment with her like her song in episode 3 it's about how she wants to protect charlie. as much as i love 'out for love' in episode 7 it was kind of unnecessary because we already know how devoted vaggie is to charlie. that was never called into question. for her to go to heaven, knowing that they would recognize her there as a fallen angel, just because charlie wanted her to be there really shows how much she loves her. and i think that part of episode 7 could have been better devoted to exploring the reason why she put her faith in the hotel and what charlie was doing in the first place, because she wants to believe that she can find redemption for the crimes she committed as an exorcist. i don't think they talked enough about the idea that vaggie was cast out of heaven for showing mercy to a sinner. and how this shows the very black-and-white view of morality that heaven has. i think i would like vaggie as a character more if the show stopped trying to frame her belief in the hotel as loyalty to her girlfriend and instead talked about how she's trying to find redemption herself, not in trying to get into heaven but in atoning for the many sinners she killed during the exterminations. that's a really big part of her character that i think should be touched on more often
if you follow me you already know my nitpicks about alastor. theyre problems that will almost certainly be fixed in the next season and theyre incredibly minor, i just dont like characters who seem to always inexplicably one step ahead of everyone else and above all sense of consequence. and to me this is made worse by the fact that alastor appears so often in season 1 without having any character development right next to characters like husk and angel who are going through such horrible, horrible things in their lives. and i think the longer we get alastor as a mysterious 5d chessmaster type of character without knowing his true motivations the more annoying it gets. again, nitpicks that almost certainly won't be a problem next season given the way they're setting up his character. you might not have even considered this to be a problem and think that i'm just being a fucked up little whiny bitch. lmao. it's just a personal thing. niffty i think doesn't have to have character development, as it stands she's entertaining enough by herself and i'm fine with having her run around the hotel with no discernible motivations. she's just havin fun
i think the vees are some really strong love to hate them villains. val obviously is a despicable piece of shit and im looking forward to seeing him get what's coming to him. i have no complaints in regards to them i think their moments were tied into the series very well and theyre interesting antagonists already. it's gonna be great seeing them come more into the spotlight in season 2. i will say that i think some of the time dedicated to exploring their characters could have been put towards the actual main villains of this season, heaven and the rest of the angels, but whatever. as i said before i think a lot of the major plot exposition could have been spread out. but in general i think the vees are really interesting

I think part of why most people I've talked to like Hazbin Hotel better then Helluva Boss, and why most of the writing problems in Helluva aren't as present in Hazbin, are because Hazbin is an ensemble show that treats all it's characters as EQUALLY IMPORTANT, while Helluva Boss is an ensemble show that just. Really wants to be the Blitzø and Stolas show.
Like oh my god that show wants to be about only Blitzø and Stolas so bad. It's why Moxxie gets more focus then Millie(he's closer to Blitzø), it's why the Stolitz drama gets dragged out the way it does, it's why Fizz has been getting more attention then the rest of the supposed main cast lately. Viv and Brandon(who doesn't get brought up very often when discussing the writing in Helluva Boss despite being the main cowriter?) CLEARLY just wanna focus on Blitzø and Stolas' backstories and relationship, despite marketing Helluva as an ensemble show. Moxxie gets some time as an individual, but I think that's more of a biproduct of him being around for longer then the other side characters tbh. Like they were initially concieved FOR Hazbin, and I'm not really sure where production went from there, but I believe they were originally just supposed to be an assassin duo that showed up in Hazbin a couple times? Idk details are fuzzy so if anybody knows more and feels like sharing feel free to rb/comment with your knowledge. Anyways Moxxie has more depth because he's been in development for longer, and as season 2 progresses it really feels like they're running out of shit to talk about with him. Everybody else is secondary to those two, which would be FINE if the show was PRESENTED as being about Stolitz, but it's kinda. Not. The show, especially if your going off of the pilot, is presented more like "the Office but in Hell". That is the concept most people are drawn in by. So when the people who signed up for a funny ensemble show in Hell start watching and end up with just a bunch of relationship drama and some occasional focus on like 1 or 2 other characters, they get confused and put off. It's like trying to watch the Office but getting Bojack Horseman(I think. I don't know much abt BJH-) instead.
Meanwhile Hazbin is advertised as an ensemble show and, so far, has fulfilled that promise. All 4 of the episodes we've gotten so far have focused on different characters and, between them, given an equal amount of focus to everyone except maybe Niffty. Episode 1 had Charlie and Vaggie leading the subplots, episode 2 had weirdly Vox and Sir Pentious as the focuses?, episode 3 was about. Pretty much everyone really but Velvette, Carmilla and Vaggie got especially highlighted because of their songs, and episode 4 was focused entirely on Angel and his relationships with the rest of the cast. Like. That's how ensemble shows are supposed to work. And while Charlie is still the main focus of the show, and I'm sure we'll see her get highlighted a whole lot more in coming episodes, Hazbin is still at it's core about EVERYBODY. Even characters that aren't even close to mains are getting attention! And aside from some uh. Very obvious pacing issues, the show handles the ensemble cast surprisingly well! And like, I think the main complaint I've seen(that isn't a straight up controversy) is that the Hotel isn't the main focus of the show? Which like. To be fair we're only like four episodes in? And also fits into my false advertising argument about Helluva but honestly this post is getting long and my brain is kinda melting and it's almost 2am and I have school tomorrow so I'm gonna cut this off here.
In conclusion Hazbin Hotel is generally more well liked than Helluva Boss because it's a true ensemble show, while Helluva is actually the Blitzø show PRETENDING to be an ensemble show. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk :)

Finished watching hazbin hotel and uh
Spoilers under cut plz don't come for me, I did enjoy the show.
Written at 3am not proofread or edited
While I did enjoy it, it was hard to actually feel any sort of attachment to the characters. I'll do research in a bit since I heard that Amazon Prime only gave them a limited amount of episodes to work with, but regardless, the pace was way too fast. I didn't even realize five months passed because it felt like it was only a week after Charlie's meeting with Adam.
Almost little to no showing of Angel Dust's and Sir Pentious' character development. Angel dust was more focused on, which makes since since he's the original resident of the hotel, the original sinner who agreed to the Hazbin Hotel project.
Yet it was Sir Pentious who got sent to heaven? Don't get me wrong, I think it's great he got sent there, however, in a narrative sense, it doesn't make sense. Throughout the episodes it was indeed that he wasn't a 'bad' guy, more so socially awkward who wanted a place in Hell but couldn't get one. But tell me, was a single episode, not including the last one, that Sir Pentious was the center of attention? Aside from being caught as a spy for Vox?
Aside from the episode where Charlie and Vaggie went to heaven for a meeting and they were watching ANGEL DUST? It was shown he had a crush on Cherri sure, that he was trying his best to get her attention/hook up with her but like... That didn't show me much about his character.
Just that he's a socially awkward shy mess around his crush is understandable, I was like that too. But that's it. Aside from the scene he got dragged into the 'sex room' after announcing he was going to have sex with everyone in the club/bar.
Keep in mind that this ep was supposed to be centering around Angel Dust back in Hell while heaven watched.
And yes, I know it was shown he would die for his friends but to me that barely says anything about a character at all. Just that they care about their friends which is usually the case for many people.
Imo, there was absolutely no hinting at Sir Pentious going to heaven. The series barely focused on him at all, even his eggs/minions were given more attention with Alastor.
Which, btw, are adorable and I wish they were shown more and interacted with the other characters more as well.
Enough about Sir Pentious - now let's talk about the Husk x Angel Dust ship
I like the idea, I can see it happening, and I'm so glad Vizipop didn't immediately get them together, if they are end game. I heard the Twitter said they were but I haven't looked at it yet so I'm not sure if it's true or not. But God, I wish we got more interactions between them. The chemistry is there, both platonic if they aren't meant to be a couple, and romantic if they are.
Niffty - I love you my little bug obsessed queen. But, while it was slightly amusing she was the one who killed Adam, it was also slightly... Disappointing? Like, all of this man power used against him and what killed him was Niffty? Obviously it was to take the audience by surprise, but it doesn't sit right with me. It held no substance - literally just Vizipop going "they'll never expect this!!" And that's it. Just to catch us off guard and was slightly taken as a joke before Lute went to him where the scene became serious again. Which would have been heart touching if their relationship was more drawn out. Show don't tell type of stuff. Which it was but not much.
Also, I did see a post that I'll most likely add here that said Adam most likely felt betrayed by the humans who sinned because he did so much for them as the original human, as shown by the line "ungrateful losers." Which makes sense and I kinda hope that is the case because he does seem very bitter towards the sinners who are, in some regard, still his people - they were still human, at some point. I really hope that they'll be able to show us in detail about how Adam was as a person rather than the Angel and original human known as 'Adam.' His character wasn't deep and it felt more like Vizipop needed a villain to shit on more than anything else.
The reveal about Vaggie being a former Exorcist was foreseen by many, meanwhile i thought she was the daughter of carmilla carmine because they look similar + implied military like background before the reveal + the duet they had when Carmilla was talking to Zetial and Vaggie singing about how she wants to protect Charlie or something. Ig they had the 'duet' because they were both about protecting someone. But I do like how Carmilla was like "bro it's so obvious you're a former Exorcist - the eye, the fucking angelic weapon you have there."
What I didn't like about the reveal was how Charlie just... Hated the fact she lied? I think anyone would be upset about that, I would be, but that's just it. She's just upset she lied which again, makes sense. But Vaggie killed her people, Adam even said she was one of his best girls. Meaning she probably killed hundreds if not more - and charlie wasn't upset about that part? She did question if their relationship was a lie, which makes sense, but the genocide of her people, the one that her gf took part in, wasn't mentioned after it was first revealed to her. That part was literally just... Thrown out the window. And on multiple occasions it was both shown and told that Charile, the princess of hell, loved her people. But it looked like the team/Vizipop decided to forget that part when it comes to the big reveal that Vaggie was an angel or whatever you want to call her.
I do like how In the end, the audience is reminded that Alastor is not a good guy. He's a horrible person, treating Husk like a pet and most likely only lets Niffy do as she pleases because he finds it amusing. Either that or they have a lot in common, and I do mean a lot. I wish this relationship between the three was shown more, developed more. But if I must add... Some scenes with Alastor... Truly felt like a Tumblr moment. Fan fiction. BUT I adore how at the end he's weak compared to some and that his deal is most likely the only reason he has any power at all. The mini break down he has? Beautiful. Prior to this he was shown and told to be this all powerful being until Zetal stepped into the ring, until Adam fucking bodied him which I love. He's a coward, he's awful, he's horrible but is shown to be able to feel attachment - I don't think he truly cares for the hotel staff. There might be a fondness but no real connection which is shown, thankfully instead of it just being told.
Then there's the discourse of his usage of Voodoo... I'm not properly educated in the practice so I have no right to comment on it.
Lucifer... My dorky little man... Beyond depressed just like me /j
I like him, love him even. But I was hoping he would be a bit more... Sinister. Instead he's a broken man who gave up on nearly everything but his daughter. Which I kinda like but also don't - it's a love hate relationship. But he's adorable so he gets a pass
Okay. I'm going to be the one who says it - I don't like Charlie's and Lucifer's demonic forms. They look nice, sure, but not king and princess of hell -like. It gives off Tumblr girl vibes which is fine. But I still don't like it. Literally uwu human cats. Which is adorable but adorable does not fit well with... Whatever this is. I wish it was more... Animalistic, barred fangs, skin stretching out, more like a demon you would typically imagine.
Also, while I do understand why Charlie didn't want to kill Adam it was... Bleh. Like girl, you already killer many of his Soilders why would you let their leader live? Idk maybe I'm thinking about it in the wrong way.
The three Vees/V's.. All horrible as ppl, especially Vlatoino, the other two as just as bad since they know what's going on and are either ignoring it or encouraging it. Vox is a slaty ex and Velveet(?) Is just trying to vibe but the other two won't let her.
Again, ironic considering what I write. As I always say - I don't condone any sort of abuse, sexual or otherwise, in real life.
Also did Lucifer sleep with Eve?
Why did Vizipop say him and Lilith were HAPPILY married when she's on a beach sun tanning in heaven and he's always 5 seconds away from jumping off the nearest building?
So many questions that will hopefully get answered in the 2nd season. And hopefully they'll be able to flesh out the characters and their backgrounds more, their personalities and how they either improve or decline as a person/character.
I have more to say but it's 3am and I'm pretty sure this is gonna get me death threats because hey, it's the internet. Just look at Twitter lol.
Please remember that I am not a film critic, I am just stating how I feel about it.
I watched it, enjoyed it, but still have icks about certain things with it, as anyone else would. Would I watch season 2? Yes, because I like the overall concept but I just wish they were able to do more with it.
I had someone ask if I would write for it, and honestly, I don't know. Maybe, maybe not, only time will tell.

No shade or aggression here but how are you disappointed in Hazbin Hotel when it hasn’t come out yet? Like do you just no have a lot of hope for the show or have you gotten some behind the scenes look at the show? Genuinely asking
I think I've explained before, but there's only 8 episodes for season 1 and it is going to showcase Charlie, Alastor, Vaggie, Husk, Angel, Niffty, Cherri, Pentious, Lucifer, Rosie, Vox, Valentino, Velvet, that one weapons dealer lady- and probably others, but the point is that it is overcrowded and the characters will not receive equal screentime for development.
The voice actors have changed, and they are talented people, but Lucifer is voiced by the same guy that voiced Varian from Tangled https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYaqBrVAfGY So Charlie's dad is gonna sound like he's 18 Which you know, he can't age but I'm not personally down with this choice because I'm only gonna see Lucifer as Charlie's brother and not an actual dad figure, the fact that he's into rubber duckies, circuses, and theme parks kinda just solidifies him in my mind as a man child I won't be able to take seriously Husk is no longer a jaded drunk Rick Sanchez-sounding gambler but a suave magical Coraline Cat / Dr Facilier , which is a big change to his pilot vibe (I think Magician is what Viv WANTED to go for originally but... I prefer his pilot vers because Husk being a flying cat magician is... there's a bit too much going on with this character of his here) Based off wiki facts, pilot screen time, promotional material, comics, and Helluva Boss, it's safe to say the women in Hazbin are going to be neglected in favor of the guys. So the girls might not get as much screen time or plot. I've seen official promotional stills and clips with obvious animation errors and awkward storyboard shot cuts and zooms. I've also seen the old pitch bible for Hazbin and the episodes and characters listed there and it seemed more like an episodic series of shenanigans for young teens rather than an overarching plot kind of story for adults. Things have changed of course, but seeing what it was based off or pitched as has lowered my expectations pretty immensely. They don't have a lot of time and they have too many characters basically.

i did manage to watch the pilot of hazbin hotel, here’s my opinions on the main characters so far!
charlie — i like her! she seems like a good protagonist, though some parts were kinda stereotypical for me, but i have hope for her, i’m sure i can like her more soon
vaggie — i absolutely love an seemingly overprotective gf, she does seem a little suspicious though, as if she wasn’t always so protective before- as if she has some kinda secret or unresolved trauma
alastor — ima be fr..this guy has been in my head for the last few days, he’s so interesting to me, and i do kinda find him relatable, like doin stuff because of sheer boredom and like witnessing other ppl wouldn’t want to witness ((in fictional characters tho, not irl)) just for them to fail
angel dust — oh boy, horny character, he’s the funniest though, for sure lol! he’s one of my favorite character designs so far, he’s so pretty
husker — he’s a grumpy lil guy, but i am neutral about him- hopefully he does get a lil development
niffty((is that how you say her name?)) — she seems like the cute but chaotic type of character- and she’s the character design that i personally fell in love with, she’s a cute patootie lmfao

Sick Day (For artemisnightingale216)
Hello my friends! I’m here today with my raffle winner, @artemisnightingale216‘s fic! The prompt I was given by my lovely winner was to write about Alastor getting sick and Charlie takes care of him whereas shenanigans ensue hehe.
I hope you enjoy the fic artemis! This one was truly very very fun to write!
Fun fact: You don’t catch a cold from being wet and cold. The lowering of your body temperature from being wet and cold allows whatever virus you might've picked up a chance to thrive! Normally your body fights off viruses and germs you pick up every day before you even feel the effects of it. But when you do get sick with a cold, your body develops a fever to try to kill the virus in your body because they don’t do well at higher temperatures! It also happens that we also don’t do well at higher temperatures and that’s why we take fever suppressants when we have a fever! So we don’t die!
What was a bit of rain anyway?
Alastor had strolled through much heavier storms where he’d trudged his way through the mud and wind. He’d withstood hurricanes and floodwaters and braved the harsh elements on the way to work. A little drizzle wouldn’t hurt.
In fact he’d often reveled in the cool relief the rain gave him. Hell was often hot and dry- nothing like the muggy heat of New Orleans. When it rained it gave him a sliver of what he thought he’d never miss.
He hummed through the light drizzle, sticking his head up high to let the light drizzle tickle his skin and breathe in the smell of fresh rain on the dry pavement.
The moment of peace and reminiscing got cut short the moment he got onto the hotel’s property. What was a drizzle suddenly became a downpour, instantly soaking him where he wasn’t moist yet.
And still he did nothing about it. He was already wet, it was far too late to rush for cover and preserve any hint of dryness. With a shrug he continued to casually walk up the paved path and up to the door, completely unbothered by the ruthless downpour.
He walked through the door to find Niffty and Charlie at the bar, chatting up Husk.
As soon as they heard him walk in with a squelch in his step, they snapped their head to the door. To his surprise, he heard two women gasp once they got a glimpse of the soaked man.
Charlie was first to rush up. “Al, you’re soaking wet!”
The smaller demon followed behind only after zipping out to grab a mop. “And dripping all over the floor!” Screeched Niffty who’d already popped up behind Alastor, mop in hand. She set it aside and opened her arms behind him. Alastor moved to unbutton his coat and shrugged it off his shoulders into the waiting girl’s arms with a wet slop.
The one-eyed demon made a sound of disgust. “You could’ve at least wrung this out first!” She dashed out the door Alastor had just come through, muffled ranting still audible behind the wood and glass.
Alastor chuckled and shook his head. “The little darling works hard doesn’t she?” He looked back to Charlie. “Just got caught up in a bit of rain. Nothing I haven’t braved through before!”
Charlie crossed her arms and shot him a worried look. “Al, you gotta get dry right now! You’re gonna catch a cold!”
Alastor waved his hand as he walked by her, each step leaving a careless trail of raindrops behind him. “Ah don’t worry about me, I’ve been through much worse dear. Have you ever tried dragging a body through a hurricane? Well it sure helps wash the blood away, but it certainly isn’t a walk in the park!” He laughed heartily and continued through the lobby. He nodded to Husk in greeting, who didn’t react nor move at the greeting.
Charlie followed behind, careful not to slip in the little puddles. “It’s still pouring out there and you’re still wet!”
He shrugged in response and stepped into the waiting elevator without a second thought. “Do apologize to Niffty for me, will you?”
“Please just shower or something at least?” Charlie called to him.
He chuckled lowly, amused yet touched by her silly concern. “For you? I’ll consider it.”
The doors closed and whirred harshly as it pulled itself upward.
Alastor got dry as Charlie had asked. With a snap of his fingers, the dripping immediately halted and any trace of moisture was off of him. He could have done it before walking in, sure, but he enjoyed keeping Niffty on her toes.
Charlie’s concern hung onto him. He couldn’t remember the last time anyone had any genuine concern for his well being. All of Hell knew he didn’t need it. But it certainly was a nice change and made him feel a warmth he couldn’t explain.
Charlie was always warm. Everything about her was warm and it often made him giddy. Her doting nature was naively adorable and Alastor found it to be one of her most charming qualities. She truly was a breath of fresh air.
For her concern, he felt the need to do something for her in return. It felt natural to and oddly enough he always felt the need to do things for her even with nothing in return. It was certainly unlike him and while he’d been trying to understand his odd feelings and behavior, he didn’t mind it.
‘I should whip up breakfast for her tomorrow for her trouble.’
Alastor cringed as the elevator dinged sickly and opened the doors with an equally sickly scraping noise.
‘Maybe I should fix the elevator for her instead.’
Once he stepped out of the elevator, he swiftly turned and snapped his fingers. The old piece of machinery rumbled and creaked for a few moments until shadows began leaking out from the cracks of the elevator’s doors.
Satisfied, he turn to walk to his room and wonder how elated Charlie was going to be once she found out the elevator was finally fixed after all these months.
Until a chill ran down his spine, sending a cascade of shivers.
But he thought nothing of it once he recovered. He was just out in the rain, it was natural that he’d feel a bit of a chill.
———
Charlie stared out the window as she sat in the kitchen alone. It had poured only the night before yet there seemed to be no trace of moisture anywhere. Just as there seemed to be no trace of activity in the hotel.
Though it was typical for the arid environment and heat of Hell to dry the pavement after the rain, it wasn’t quite a typical morning at the hotel.
Not that it was bustling to begin with, but it was too quiet that morning. Angel had already left for the day, Vaggie was out grocery shopping, Niffty busied herself with daily chores and Husk was still passed out behind the bar. And while that was fairly normal, someone else was missing.
Alastor still hadn’t made an appearance. Usually he’d already be in the kitchen whipping up breakfast for himself, or anyone around when he was in the mood to do so. He would  join Charlie and whoever else was around for breakfast every day, and yet he still wasn’t in the kitchen yet.
Charlie went up to his room once she finished breakfast, noting how suddenly silent the elevator was. Where once she feared for her life on it, it functioned without a hitch.
Turning her attention back to Alastor, she walked up to his door. She knew she should probably leave him alone, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong especially after how he showed up soaking wet the night before.
She gently knocked on the door. “Al? You there?”
There were a few moments of silence. Nothing.
“Al?” She called once more, only slightly louder this time.
The door swung open, showing a fully dressed Alastor. “Can I help you, sweetheart?”
Charlie immediately noticed how his under eyes were darker than usual. “Are you okay? You weren’t at breakfast and-“
She paused when she watched Alastor's increasingly red face twitch. His expression tensed, smile seemingly more toothy and hard set than usual. “Al?” Charlie asked, concern increasing by the second.
After a moment, Alastor relaxed and nodded. “I’m just fine! Fit as a fiddle! Just running a bit late! Now if you’ll excuse me.” He slammed the door in her face, leaving her stunned.
Not even a second later, she heard a sneeze.
‘I knew it!’
Fueled by her need to help whilst swallowing her inhibitions, Charlie opened the unlocked door and poked her head in. “Al, you’re sick aren’t you?” She asked, shooting him a concerned look.
“What makes you say that?” He asked before turning his head and sneezing into a handkerchief.
“The sneezing, the red face and the bags under your eyes maybe? I bet you have a fever too.” She walked in fully and closed the door behind her. Cautiously, she approached him.
Alastor sneezed once more into his handkerchief. “Quite the little detective aren’t you?”
She chuckled. “The best of the best! Now-“ she approached until she was right in front of him. “lemme check your forehead.”
Alastor huffed a laugh and rolled his eyes. “Yes mother,” He bent over slightly to make her task easier. “Though I don’t believe this is necessary.” His eyes fluttered closed the moment he felt the significantly cooler touch of her hand rest on his forehead and took a breath of relief.
“Not necessary? Al, you’re burning up!” To his displeasure she removed her hand and hastily got back to the door. “Get back in bed, I’m going to get some stuff to help. I’ll be right back!” She rushed out the door, leaving a dumbfounded Alastor standing in the middle of his room.
Charlie’s heart raced as she made her way back down to the kitchen. She placed her hands on her cheeks to try to cool her burning face. ‘He was so close... and I touched him!’ She exclaimed in her head. ‘I actually touched him and he let me.’ she gasped, staring down at her hand as if she’d kept the touch as a souvenir.
Once the elevator dinged, she shook her head violently and briskly walked her thoughts off on her way to the kitchens. She needed to take care of him, not linger on her silly crush. He needed her this time and she needed to get her head on straight. “Okay, stop that Charlie! Focus!”
It didn’t take her too long to get Razzle and Dazzle to make a simple broth for Alastor. As much as she would have loved to make it herself, she knew she would find a way to burn the water if she tried to.
On the tray she carried she had a bowl of soup, a glass of orange juice and fever suppressant. Now that she was outside his door again, her stomach was in knots. Once more she shook her head and took a deep breath.
‘Focus Charlie!’
With one hand balancing the tray, she struggled to knock on the door. “Al, I’m back!” She called.
The door opened on its own for her; no doubt Alastor using his powers when he shouldn't be. Taking the gesture as an invitation, Charlie walked in and smiled as she found Alastor under the covers of his bed. “I’m glad you got back in bed. I got you some stuff to help.”
She approached the bed and set the tray on his bedside. “Can you eat on your own?” She asked as he wordlessly sat up.
Still red in the face, he shot her a mischievous look that sent her heart flying. “I could, but I’d much prefer if you fed me yourself my dear.” He teased, only half- joking.
Charlie felt her cheeks flare up again. “I j-just remembered I needed to do something! Make sure you take the medicine!” She stammered as she stepped away and got to the door. “I’ll be back to get your tray!”
Before he could reply, Charlie slammed the door and quickly walked off once more, desperately hoping that Alastor couldn’t hear her heart beating out of her chest.
“The fever’s talking. That’s it,” she took deep breaths as she stared down the hallway, walking quickly yet firmly. “Okay. I’ve got work to do. Gotta get back to work and don’t think about it!”
——-
When Charlie did return later that day, she found Alastor peacefully asleep. He didn’t respond when she knocked nor when she entered and approached him.
‘He’s still smiling.’ she mused, cracking a small smile. She watched his face, noticing the droplets of sweat on his forehead.
Carefully she hovered her hand over his forehead, feeling even more heat radiate off of him. ‘His fever hasn’t gone down yet!’
She pulled her hand away, only to be grasped by a quick hand.
“Hmm... Charlie my love, I’ve been waiting for you...” Alastor said, without opening his eyes. “You feel so cold... Let me warm you up darling...” he said breathily as he pressed the back of her hand against his sweaty cheek.
Charlie felt her heart pound as if it were trying to free itself out of her chest. As many times as this had happened today, her heart could have given away by now. “A-Al, go back to sleep. You’re saying some crazy stuff.” She chuckled nervously, trying to pull her hand from his.
But his grip was too firm. “I’m wide awake...” He slurred, sleep-drunk before falling asleep once more. His breathing became even once more, confirming that he fell back asleep.
Charlie continued to pull at her hand, but Alastor’s iron grip on her kept her from moving.
Sighing, she knelt at his bedside and rested her head on the mattress in defeat. She let her cheek rest on his mattress and stared up at his slumbering face with a sad smile. “You’re just saying all that cuz you’re sick. I know you don’t see me like the way I see you. But that’s okay.” She took a long breath as she watched him sleep. It was now mid afternoon and though she had things to do, she didn’t care. She would rather just sit there and pretend a little longer.
-----------------------------
When Charlie finally woke, she found herself laying in bed- with Alastor’s gaze on her.
“Ah!” She jumped up with a shriek and ungracefully rolled onto the floor.
Alastor peered over his bed to look down at her from above. “Well that was unnecessary,” he snapped his fingers and watched as his shadow immediately slid to Charlie’s side and scooped her unexpecting figure up into its arms.
Before Charlie could do anything or even react, the shadow gently slid her back into bed next to Alastor. “Do be careful doll.”
“Why was I in your bed?” She asked, confused by the gesture.
Alastor laughed as if it were a silly question. He propped himself up on his elbow. “You’ve already forgotten? Good golly darling I can’t believe you’d forget those pitifully sweet words you whispered in my ear. You seemed so downtrodden and disappointed.”
Unfortunately for her she did remember what she said to the supposedly sleeping man. Once she did, she stared at him in horror. “I thought you were sleeping.”
“Well I was getting there, but fortunately I’m a very light sleeper. The moment you began speaking you had my attention! When you nodded off, I pulled you into bed and you were clinging to me like a newborn to its mother!” He chuckled.
Charlie rolled over so her back was to Alastor, bringing her hands up to hide her tomato-red face. “Damn it Al, I-I-“
“You don’t seem to be very happy about this arrangement. Am I not being clear enough?” He asked, placing a hand on her shoulder.
Charlie jumped at the contact and allowed him to gently pull her to turn onto her back. “What’re you talking about?”
“I’m returning your feelings dear, simple as that. No deal or ulterior motives behind it.” he said plainly without a hint of radio backing his voice. His smile was closed and soft, but his gaze remained hard and intensely fixed on her.
She paused, avoiding his eyes. “Do you still have a fever?”
Alastor shook his head. “Thanks to you I believe I’m well. But if you would like to check...” he slid his hand from her shoulder and down her arm to her hand, leaving goosebumps behind. He gently grasped her hand and brought it to his cheek.
“Well?” he asked, cheeks tinted red but smile steadfast.
“Your fever’s gone.” she replied absentmindedly.
They stared at each other silently, Charlie’s hand still pressed against his cheek. Her eyes trailed from his own ruby red eyes down to his lips before flicking back up to his eyes.
“Charlie?” Alastor asked.
Charlie blinked. “O-oh I uh, should go back to my room. It’s morning isn’t it? I-I need to go get ready for the day!” Quickly she pulled her hand out of his and practically rolled out of bed, this time to her feet.
Frantically she scanned the room until she found her shoes and quickly slipped them on.
Alastor sighed in slight disappointment, wondering if he did something wrong.
He looked down to the sheets under him to find her bowtie partially under the comforter. “Forgetting something?” He asked, catching her attention.
She froze with a squeak before turning. “I-uh.” she started, her cheeks a violent red.
Alastor cocked his head in confusion at her odd expression. “Darling are you going to-“
Charlie cut him off when she bent down and clumsily pecked his cheek, nearly crashing into his face. Not a moment later she pulled away and straightened stiffly. “Thank you for everything and I’m glad you’re better! I’ll see ya later Al!” She nearly sprinted out the door, leaving Alastor frozen in place.
After a moment, Alastor let out a breathy chuckle and picked up the bowtie that she’d left behind. He reached over to gently place it on top of his nightstand before rolling over to lay flat on his back.
His head was in a dizzy fog for most of the day yesterday but he could clearly remember it all.
She helped him willingly. She truly cared about his well being and went out of her way to care for him in his time of need. When was the last time anyone actually cared for or about him?
Knowing she was the one voluntarily caring for him sent his heart into a frenzy whenever he thought about it yesterday. If he didn’t know any better he would’ve thought that he truly was physically in worse shape than he initially thought!
But when he heard those words leave her lips he finally realized what exactly this feeling was. Through the fog everything finally clicked into place and seemed clearer than ever. While holding onto Charlie’s hand he thought of his mother and how he felt about her, how much he loved her and how he’d only ever want her affections. It was definitely a pure feeling he’d nearly forgotten, but found it once more in a foolish ancient demon of all things.
Alastor hummed to himself as he rolled out of bed, not feeling 100% yet but oddly feeling lighter than ever.

Radiodust Week Day #3
Day 3: Angst/Comfort
Hope you liked it! I thought aboutthe few fics I’ve read about the Hanahaki disease so I decided to write this!! Enjoy!
Here’s the link for Ao3 <3 ________________________________________________________________ Soulmates, a rarely discussed concept on Hell. It was strange for soulmates to end together in hell. It was even more uncommon to find your soulmate in hell without having caught a glimpse of then in life. Most of them were either in Heaven together or forever apart with their soulmate in heaven and they trapped in this shithole, their memories the only way to remember what they once had.
Painful but beautiful memories that many could claim to remember when they were at their worst, like another painful reminder of the reason they deserved to be down here.
The tales went a little overboard as far as Alastor was concerned. They always spoke about how you would feel when you two touched each other. How you would feel complete, how you would only think about them, how you would be compelled to care for them, how in both of you would feel an affinity between yourselves that no one else would be able to compare.
Ideally, yes, you’d be lucky to find someone who would complement you in such a way that would make you feel complete and at peace.
This concept was something Alastor, the radio demon, thought it was beneath a demon with so much power. It was something he couldn't see himself diving into, or wanting to experiment.
If you had a soulmate, and you both developed romantic feelings it meant a new weakness. Feelings made you act without reason, harsh decisions taken in the heat of the moment, and most of all, it made you vulnerable. He had seen it before, he had used that against his enemies before, even while living he had taken the advantage of the ways of seduction enough to know that feelings were a nuisance, especially a bond like that.
So, when Charlie had approached the subject and asked him his opinion he answered truthfully. Not caring about how the answer came out.
“I believe it’s a waste of time” he had said still smiling “Your other half? Please, it sounds more like a children’s tale! This is hell, my dear! No one here cares about that anymore, they had their chance while living so I don’t see why they would care about them now. Besides, they would only hold me back”
Charlie looked down deception clear on her eyes and Vaggie had glared at him as hard as she could. If looks could kill Alastor knew he would be into a sweet ride thanks to the moth demon. Husk just stared at him and Niffty was gone, probably off to clean something somewhere else. Angel was silent for the first time, not daring to interrupt nor make a sassy comment or sex-related jokes.
“But…” Charlie tried to argue “wouldn’t you like to at least meet them? To…get to know them? Most of them aren’t even related romantically”
Alastor laughed, the radio frequency making it sound more distorted that it was.
“Oh no!” Alastor barked “They’re just a waste of space and time, I couldn’t care less if mine disappeared”
Everyone was in silence; the tension was even palpable in the air. Charlie excused herself as Vaggie trailed behind muttering curses in Spanish about the radio demon. Husk only stared at the place in front of him, the place Angel Dust had been a few seconds ago. Watching the princess, he noticed she seemed quite sad, although he was satisfied in the way they had ended the conversation. Hoping no one else would dare to bring that specific topic ever again in his presence.
So why did Alastor felt as if he had just made a horrible mistake?
Angel Dust was in his room, his makeup a mess and his tears kept flowing as he tried to contain the sobs that escaped once in a while. Hugging his knees to his chest Angel curled as much as he could, wishing the words Alastor had said would stop running over and over his head like a broken record.
Unfortunately, life it’s a bitch, and so that night our resident spider demon had a coughing fit, which ended with a red rose petal in his hand, tears in his eyes, and a plan already forming in his head.
Alastor didn’t want or care about his soulmate, well then, Angel would disappear and he would never know until he was gone.
________________________________________________________________
It had been three weeks since that specific conversation, and no one had ever dared to mention the topic again.
Alastor smiled as he strolled through the hall until he saw a certain spider demon chatting away with Husk at the bar. He stopped staring at the scene, Angel Dust seemed, at ease. Something that rarely occurred nowadays near him and that for some reason bothered the overlord.
Alastor knew it was something stupid and foolish but he couldn’t stop his desire of having that smile directed at him. Of having Angel close to him, to hear his voice, to answer his jokes, and in return make sassy comments to kill the mood for him.
Many nights the of them had sat down and talked, it had been certainly enjoyable and Alastor had found himself wishing to spend more time together and searching unconsciously the spider demon as soon as he entered the hotel. Even going as far as to wait for Angel at the bar if only to cease his mind and verify Angel was safe and sound.
Alastor’s smile was now softer looking at the back of the spider demon. Yes, he had quite enjoyed discovering things about the spider demon as they spent more time together, Angel was quite the character and Alastor enjoyed the company of the spider more and more.
Hearing an amused cry coming from the spider and clapping he focused on what was going on. It seemed Husk had done a magic trick to cheer up Angel if the card that he was holding was any indication. Angel was clapping as he complimented Husk in his abilities with the cards and how the trick was something he had never seen.
Soon enough Angel got up from his seat, claimed he was tired so he was going to sleep and thanked Husk for everything before leaving. Alastor could only stare at the spider demon as he retreated to his room through another hallway of the hotel. It seemed that tonight he had lost his chance to talk to Angel. It wasn’t a problem, maybe tomorrow he could catch the spider after returning from the studios.
So why did he felt disappointed for not reaching the spider sooner?
Shaking his head, he retired to his room. His treacherous mind made him remember the smiling face of Angel directed at him a few nights ago while he recited more jokes to his dear fellow, and suppressing the urge to go to the spider’s room if only to wish him good night to hear his voice and see him before going to sleep.
“It’s nothing” Alastor tried to reassure himself “I’m just tired”
His shadow however stared at his master and then in the direction of the bar. Yes, Alastor could try and lie to himself but the truth was that he cared for Angel and more than he wanted to admit. But being in denial was not usual for his master, so he just let it be.
On the other side of the hotel, Angel coughed up five more petals. This time, they were bloodstained. Taking a deep breath he went to Charlie’s office as quietly as he could. Bloodied petals on his hand and his decision made.
That night Charlie cried for one of his best friends as she vowed to help Angel as much as she could and keep this secret until it was too much for her.
Angel returned to his room that night, called his sister Molly and started telling her everything. Both siblings cried and wished they could be together if only to be able to hold each other as they often did before they died.
________________________________________________________________
It had been two months since that night, and Charlie had arranged an afternoon of games, movies, and snacks for the original crew. She claimed that a good team had to spend time together out of their jobs too and besides they all were friends and they deserved a little break.
At first, everyone had their reservations but as time passed, they ended enjoying the hours to its fullest. The games were quite amusing, the laughter could be heard through the whole floor and soon they all were doing a karaoke competition.
Music filled the room, all of them dancing freely with the beat, enjoying every single moment.
Alastor could barely keep his eyes away from Angel’s figure as he danced. He took every single movement, every single note and expression into his mind. Enjoying the way Angel smiled as he sang, how enchanting he looked as he danced flawlessly across the room. Sometimes even spinning Charlie or Veggie as they laughed and smiled. Even Niffty had been picked up and spun into the air by Angel as both of them sang together.
But he had noticed Angel act a bit off, his usual perky self quite down. It bothered him how dull he looked. His fur even looked off, it used to be a quite beautiful pink but now it looked as if it was turning gray, almost as if he was sick.
It soon was forgotten as Husk fell to the floor and everyone started laughing, but he had decided to watch the spider more from now on.
The night ended and all of them fell asleep, well, at least most of them.
Angel and Charlie were in the bathroom, the sink was full of blood, Charlie was silently crying and holding the rose Angel had coughed up that night.
A beautiful red rose in full bloom, it’s black thorns all over the stem of the same color. Fresh blood all over them and it’s petals.
Angel doubled in pain as Charlie did everything, she could to heal his friend as she tried to comfort him, even if she was devastated at the sight of this discovery. She feared her friend wouldn’t be able to stand another month if the flowers kept coming at this peace.
An hour later the bathroom was clean, Angel was back into his room asleep on his bed, Charlie still holding the rose and looking at Alastor’s asleep figure from a distance. Wishing she hadn’t made that promise to Angel just moments ago to never tell the radio demon that Angel was his soulmate until Angel was dead.
In the end, she decided to throw the rose as far as she could from her window. Wishing she could do more than that, wishing she could just go and do something more.
________________________________________________________________
A month later Alastor couldn’t take it anymore.
He needed to know what was going on.
NOW
After the game night Angel had been appearing less and less around the hotel. Charlie had claimed he was feeling under the weather because of his withdrawals from drugs and the lot.
Alastor could believe that, but there was something that just wasn’t right but he let it be.
The first week he didn’t leave for the studio and didn’t take any clients. He even stopped drinking any alcohol and Charlie often gave him softer things to eat when they thought no one was looking. He even stopped talking claiming it was due to a cold he had caught outside of the hotel.
Alastor let it slip again, but he knew something was wrong.
As the days went by, he noticed Angel seemed to be, evading him and ignoring him at every turn. He hoped that as he respected the distance the spider demon seemed to need; he would come back eventually.
The next week Angel didn’t appear at all.
Charlie immediately claimed that Angel had a really bad cold and because of it Angel had to stay in his room resting. Alastor took it with a grain of salt, often sending his shadow to Angel’s room only to verify that Angel was there and watch him sleep. More than one time he had heard Angel inside his bathroom coughing verifying the story Charlie had told them about Angel being sick.
But the last week it had been horrible for Alastor.
Charlie seemed on edge and had ordered a perimeter around Angel’s room. No one could pass through only her, and maybe Vaggie on certain occasions. She had been so on edge that he had been surprised she had used a barrier that even his shadows couldn’t pass through.
No one knew anything about Angel and even if they refused to say anything about it the tension was so obvious that they tried to distract each other from what was going on with Angel Dust. Every time anyone tried asking what was going on Charlie always made up an excuse of having to leave or something like that.
Now he was desperate, and finally his opportunity came when that night Charlie had forgotten to replenish the power of the barrier and he was able to send his shadow to see what was going on.
The sight of what he had found was something he wished he could forget.
Angel Dust was on his bed, his fur lacking color, his breath labored and his pulse so faint he looked more a corpse than anything else.
But what had made Alastor’s heart stop and feel terrified was the amount of blood Angel had around him and over him.
It was all over his chest fur, around his mouth, over his hands, all over his bed and the covers.
And that wasn’t the worst part, near the edge of the bed were two roses.
Two perfect roses with black stems and thorns were on the floor near Angel’s bed also covered in blood.
Angel’s blood.
Alastor could barely move, too shocked, too afraid to do anything else. But before he knew it, he was beside Angel’s bed.
Slowly and with his hands shaking he took Angel’s face in his own, cradling it carefully, stroking his thumb against Angel’s cheeks feeling the dried blood on his fur. And a soft petal on the commissure of his lips. He knew what those petals meant; he now realized all the signals he had been ignoring for the last months. The way he felt compelled to look at the spider, how he cherished his presence and the moment that Angel had disappeared the sheer desperation in knowing he was alright that had compelled him into using his shadow only to spy on him to catch a glance of the spider demon even for a few seconds.
“No” Alastor whispered as he took the petal from Angel’s lips “it…it can’t be”
He didn’t have any more time before Angel started having another coughing fit again.
Alastor could only stare, frozen in the place he was standing, watching as more petals and blood came out of Angel’s mouth.
Minutes later another beautiful rose was out.
Covered in blood and leaving Angel exhausted and weak.
Alastor didn’t know what to do, he just stared at Angel and then the roses. Leaning to grab the latest rose Angel had coughed up he felt sick.
Roses had been one of his favorite flowers since he could remember. They being so delicate and rare it was a miracle to watch them bloom after being cared for, surviving many storms and winters.
Before him it was a sight he usually would enjoy, maybe even relinquish in the pain the other was suffering. Enjoying watching the blood come out, the agony, watching their life leave them as slowly and painfully as possible.
But now, he wanted it to stop. He wanted to make the blood go away, to make Angel smile again, to ease the pain however he could.
Angel turned without a warning; his eyes barely focused on Alastor’s figure.
“Al?” Angel talked, his voice barely audible enough and rough “is...dat ya?”
Alastor could only nod, fearing his voice would betray him as his body was already shaking.
“yes, it’s me mon cher" Alastor said getting closer to the bedAngel smiled, it was barely visible thanks to the blood on his face but Alastor could see his lips curve and his cheeks puff a bit.
“I... don’t know if ya’re real” Angel raised one of his main hands into Alastor’s direction “but…I haf ta...tell ya…”
Alastor nodded as Angel’s voice became fainter and fainter with each word. Kneeling next to his bed, holding the rose close to his chest.
“I love ya” Angel whispered “ti amo…”
And just like that Angel’s eyes closed, his hand fell to the bed and Alastor was left in a state of panic and despair.
“Angel” Alastor called his name “A-Angel…mon cher…”
A noise alerted him someone was coming and Alastor vanished into his shadow, still holding the rose close to his heart.
He watched as Charlie came into the room and talked to Angel, saying how he was going to be alright just to hold on. He stared as Charlie cleaned the dry blood from Angel’s fur with care and love. He stayed as near as he could as Charlie used her powers to alleviate the pain, how she took the roses, and then burned them as tears fell through her cheeks and silent sobs wracked her body, biting her lip so hard it bled but unwilling to let any noise be heard.
“Please Angel,” Charlie said once she had her voice back “please don’t leave…you’re one of my best friends. Just hold on a little longer…for me, please”
After that, she talked about how hungry he must be and going for something to eat so she had to leave to bring him something tasty for him and bring a healer to help her with his throat. Her fake smile remained until she slipped outside the room.
She walked fast and as soon as she was far away from Angel’s room, she stopped her gaze on the floor. Alastor followed her through the shadows, waiting to hear what they had to say about this.
“I…I guess it’s time” Charlie sighed as Vaggie approached her “it’s been almost three months Vaggie…I don’t think he’ll make it”
Alastor ignored the rest of the conversation, barely processing the information. They knew and they had decided to leave everyone out of it.
Before Charlie and Vaggie could take a single step, Alastor appeared in front of them. His usual smile gone, replaced with a look of pure fear and panic.
“What do you mean he won’t make it!?” Alastor demanded “How long have you known about this!?”
With that Alastor showed them the rose in his hand, still beautiful but with dried blood over its thorns and petals
.“HOW LONG!?” he roared as tears ran down his cheeks, the image of Angel passing out after confessing to him fresh in his mind.
Charlie and Vaggie were scared but looked at Alastor.
“Since it started” Charlie confessed breaking the silence “Angel came to me one night, scared about the petals he had just coughed up one night”
Vaggie slid an arm around her girlfriend in silent support. With that Charlie just broke into sobs again, not being able to talk for a long time Vaggie sighed.
“Charlie told me a month ago” Vaggie said “she needed help, and we found out that Angel had been coughing up roses for a long time and so frequently it was a miracle he still could talk, let alone breathe properly”
Alastor then remembered in flashes, how Angel had started to look weaker as the time passed by, talking less, eating less, being less with them.
“Why?” he asked, his voice broken.
Vaggie looked straight to him as Alastor finally had an idea of what was happening.
“Remember what you said about soulmates?” Vaggie nodded his head in the direction of Angel’s room “Well…he discovered he was yours…so when you claimed you didn’t care for your soulmate and would be a waste of your time…. this started”
At that moment Alastor remembered his cruel words and the unusual silence of the spider. He had just claimed that because he thought he didn’t want people to see him as weak and vulnerable. His pride was his undoing, with those horrible and terrible words, he had hurt his soulmate. Probably he had condemned Angel the moment he said he could care less about him.
“But …he ...he can be saved…right?” Alastor asked, desperation was clear in his voice.
Vaggie looked away from the Radio demon, her eyes filled with tears.
“I...I don’t know,” she said truthfully as Charlie turned to hide her face in Vaggie’s shoulder trying to calm her now renewed sobs, “We asked a healer to come but they said it was a matter of hours, with luck we would have a day, if we were lucky, before he …would …”
Alastor’s blood turned cold, his skin becoming paler. Hands shaking as the rose slowly lost a petal and started turning black on the tips.
“No…” he whispered as the rose fell from his hand.
Vaggie shook Charlie as her eyes were now wide with panic and fear.
“Charlie!” she pushed her girlfriend awake “call them! The flower is dying!”
Charlie gasped as she nodded and tried to control herself. Taking out her hellphone she called in a panic every single person she knew that Angel cared for. Alastor could barely comprehend what they were both saying.
He couldn’t hear anything around him anymore.
Angel Dust was dying, his soulmate was dying…without ever receiving an answer from him.
As fast as he could he ran to Angel’s room. The screams of Charlie and Vaggie faint on his ears as he only cared about Angel and getting to his side as soon as he could.
Pulling the door out of its hinges Alastor threw it into the hallway not caring whom he could hurt, he had to go to his soulmate’s side now.
“Angel!” he screamed, voice hoarse and tears making his vision blurry “ANGEL!”
The spider demon was still laying there, hands over his chest and belly, looking as if he was a perfect picture of the princess in those silly fairytales. His chest never rising and not a sound coming from him.
Alastor ran to Angel’s side and fell to his knees taking the image and the realization slowly caving in.
Angel had stopped breathing, he was late.
“no…” Alastor whispered as he took one of Angel’s hand in his own “please”
He slowly raised and brushed Angel’s hair with his free hand.
“Please…. don’t leave” Alastor let his tears fell on Angel’s face “…. Je t’aime aussi…mon ange”
As soon as these words left his mouth Alastor let himself cry over his now lost soulmate. Memories coming through in his mind, Angel’s genuine smile, Angel’s sweet singing voice, Angel’s jokes, Angel’s attempts to flirt with him, Angel’s moments of wisdom, Angel’s kindness, everything came as a hurricane. Filling Alastor´s heart with despair.
He had killed Angel Dust.
He had killed his soulmate.
Alastor contemplated into ending his afterlife, it might take a few attempts but he could certainly keep trying, if only to start making up for all the pain he had pull Angel through.
“please” he tried again “Don’t leave me…”
But Angel didn’t move, and he would never move again.
Taking in a deep breath Alastor screamed, screamed for the loss of his soulmate.
For Angel Dust, was no more.
________________________________________________________________
Alastor woke up, his eyes wide in panic, his pulse erratic, his forehead all sweaty and his hands shaking.
Immediately he looked around, trying to remember where was he. Identifying his room, he tried to get up, the image of Angel dead still in his mind.
Angel, he had to go and see Angel. He had to make sure he was alive and plea for him to forgive him and …
“Al?” a soft voice stopped him as the lamp on his nightstand was turned on “Al, what’s wrong?” the voice repeated.
Alastor could barely contain himself as he threw himself into the arms of the other demon, not caring if he was crying. He relinquished in the fact that he could hear Angel’s heartbeat.
Angel hugged him close as Alastor let all his emotions flow into incoherent streams of sobs, pleas, and thanking Angel for being with him.
Angel kissed his hair and slowly combed his hair with his claws until Alastor stopped shaking. Knowing better than to talk he just hummed on of Alastor’s favorite songs until he was calm enough to talk.
“are ya gonna tell me what was all this is ‘bout?” Angel asked concerned
Alastor smiled, happy to know his beau, his soulmate was safe and the sight of his wedding band around his finger assuring him that it was all just a dream.
He had arrived on time to see Angel cough up one of his roses and they had a screaming match that had ended with both of them spilling their feelings in the heat of the moment. Although Alastor couldn’t tell Angel he was in love with him he agreed to date the spider and then see where it took them, but when the next day Angel didn’t have a coughing fit, he knew Alastor’s true feelings. Until now they both had experienced ups and downs but they were happy together. Barely been married for 4 months after a few years of a steady relationship and elimination two overlords for his Angel to be safe.
“Maybe later cher” Alastor smiled “just let me hold you tonight”
Angel smiled as he let Alastor cuddle with him, something quite rare for the radio demon, holding him close.
“I love you, mon ange” Alastor said softly
“I love you too, my dear” Angel kissed the top of his husband’s head smiling.
In his mind, before falling asleep, Alastor swore he would never again let his Angel suffer again. Not now, not ever and he would do his best to make his soulmate happy.
Both of them drifted into a dreamless sleep, holding each other close and enjoying the warmth of their bodies cuddled together.
A single rose displayed proudly on their nightstand, watching those two soulmates together at last.

Self restraint was surprisingly one of Angel’s stronger suits despite what he lets people to believe. Growing up gay in an Roman Catholic mob family in a time where boys were sent for “medical treatment” for looking at other boys with a little too much interest would do that to a guy.
So when he felt Alastor’s fingers worm their way under his hand during family movie night, he didn’t react immediately.
It all started when Charlie discovered Disney via a patron who had recently died and was sent straight to the hotel by her mother of all people, with a note that said There was a mix up in processing, she doesn’t belong here. Take care of her until your Uncle Gabriel can come get her New Years.
Charlie had nearly detonated fireworks inside the hotel in her excitement because an honest to grandfather heaven bound had been blessedly dropped onto her lap. It would be an absolute shame if she didn’t take advantage and pick her brain to see how she earned her halo so that she could apply it to her other patrons, specifically Angel Dust who seemed to drift further and further away from Heaven’s light.
Vaggie had told her, not for the first time either, that Angel was a lost cause but never let it be said that the Princess of Hell was not tenacious. Nor was she one to give up on her friends.  He didn’t make it easy though...What with the turf wars and drugs and booze and constant sex and...yeah.
But here in her hands, she had a way to redemption and step one was obviously-
“I remember this studio,” said Angel when the opening jingle revealed the Disney Castle. He munched on some popcorn and nodded, “I remember watching Snow White, Pinocchio, and Bambi. Heh, Pinocchio scared the shit outa me. Growin up, pops told me that boys who were bad became jackasses .”
“Explains you,” muttered Vaggie into her mug of coco, nearly spilling it when Angel retaliated by throwing popcorn at her, “Hey!”
They had worked their way backwards, starting with the classics much to Alastor’s delight. Having grown up poor, all he had was a single fairytale book that was literally falling apart. Then he had discovered radio and then developed his fascination with murdering and...Well, he was glad to have this opportunity to experience fairytales again. Angel  in particular liked Al’s eagerness for family movie night. It was cute.
That is until tonight when they were watching Bambi and they were at the part where hunters had killed the fawn’s mom. Charlie gasped from across them, turning to Vaggie for some explanation as to why this was in a children’s film. Husk sighed heavily and took a long drink from his beer bottle, Niffty quickly getting up to bring more drinks but Angel didn’t miss how she was wiping at her eye.
He glanced over at Alastor, whose eyes had become dials, and twisted his hand so that their fingers laced together, gently squeezing them and slowly raising his upper arm out to coax his friend to curl up next to him. It was a long shot that Al would allow this despite their friendship but to his surprise, Alastor fell into place and reached out his other hand to hold Angel’s lower left one.
Bambi had hit too close to home for Alastor and they needed a brief intermission shortly after Bambi’s dad took him in.
Water splashed on face and tears were wiped away. Snacks and drinks were replenished and they all made themselves comfortable again.
To Angel’s delight and horror, Alastor dragged a blanket over and made himself comfortable again tucked under Angel’s arm with a pleased smile, tail softly  thumping against the couch when Angel rested his head on his.
Spring time in the movie lifted everyone’s moods from Charlie squealing at the cute little skunks, to Alastor’s ears perking up when Bambi fought for his doe. He felt Angel’s breath come out in a snort but didn’t question it until the movie was over and it was just them two picking up the living room.
Angel shrugged, “I don’t know, guess the love dovey stuff was a bit much.”
“I thought you like lovey dovey stuff.” Alastor tossed the folded blankets back into their basket.
“I do. It’s just that I don’t believe that it happens the way it happens in movies. It’s unrealistic if you ask me.”
“Yes, exactly! I feel the same way. Though I suppose with moving pictures, time is of the essence what with their limited time frame to tell their story.” Alastor helped Angel take the dirty cups and bowls back to the kitchen, putting the dishes into the sink and rolling up his sleeves while Angel put away the left over snacks.
“I take it that you aren’t a fan of the whole love at first sight trope either then, huh?”
Alastor grin widened, “Not at all, my dear. Though to be fair, I  can’t say that I’m a fan of love either. Besides my mother, I never put much thought into loving someone else, never mind romantically.”
Angel’s heart ached at the deer’s words but he nodded anyway, “Yeah. Love is too messy anyway.” It had a nasty habit of making you see things that weren’t there. Of course Al didn’t feel the same way. Him cuddling and holding Angel’s hand didn’t mean anything. He was just cold and Bambi’s mom dying would’ve made anyone seek comfort in a friend.
“And requires far too much work,” agreed Alastor, his heart breaking at Angel’s dismissive words. But the work wasn’t as off putting to him as he thought. Charlie and Vaggie had their moments but months of being a shadow on the wall during their quarrels served to teach him that one disagreement didn’t have to mean the end of a relationship. If anything, working through it could make it stronger.
He felt Angel move next to him to dry the clean dishes. Alastor glanced at him from the corner of his eye, “Have you ever experienced...that is to say, have you ever been in love?”
Angel didn’t slow his methodological movements as he nodded.
“Oh.”
It had been almost silent but Angel heard it. He put the dishes away and waited for Al to finish washing the last few mugs, leaning an elbow on the counter and resting his cheek on his fist, “Have you?”
“No.”
“Hm.”
“Indeed.” Alastor wondered why he even bothered indulging in his confusing thoughts. The owl had described what Angel made him feel down to walking on damn air. Only thing it had gotten wrong was it hadn’t been as quickly as it had been with Bambi or Thumper, or Flower. It had been after Angel had decreased his advances and increased his willingness to simply chat with him well into the evening. How he didn’t blink twice when he’d made his famous gumbo with meat from his hunt or judged him he had walked on him snacking on fingers like they had been buffalo wings one night. As a matter of a fact, Angel had taken his cannibalism without fuss at all though Alastor chalked that up with Angel being a predator demon himself.
Then it had been the way Angel carried himself, even when he was ‘on the clock’. What Alastor had once seen as vulgar promiscuity, he now saw as hunting tactics. And if Angel had fun during his means to an end well more power to him. It was when he was off the clock, though, that Alastor found him the most endearing. When he was playing with Fat Nuggets. When he was having girl time with Niffy and Charlie, playing poker with Husk, and watching documentaries with Vaggie.
It was the way Angel smiled when he did all of this, content and relaxed, that made Alastor’s head spin and heart flutter. The way he cried if the documentary was about nature and a cute animal died. It was the way Angel was weak by demon standards but strong by human. By his standards.
“Al?”
Alastor jumped when Angel gently shook him by the shoulder with a worried frown. He felt himself smile, “Yes, darling?”
“I said that the mugs are clean enough. Give’em here so we can go to bed.” Angel took the squeaky clean mugs from Alastor and quickly dried them, putting them in their cupboard and tossing the dish towel into a basket next to the sink.
The two demons stared at each other, waiting for something neither knew the other wanted.
Sighing, Angel shook his head and offered a small smile, “Alright, I’m gonna go hit the hay. See ya tomorrow, Smiles.”
“Sweet dreams, dear.” As Al watched Angel retreat, a moment of foolish bravery overcame him and he called out to him, “Angel!”
Angel paused at the door and glanced over his shoulder, “Yeah?” He watched as Alastor summoned his microphone to fiddle with more than anything, something he’d noticed the deer did when he was nervous. Strangely enough, Alastor only did that when they were alone. It was cute.
Having found the words he wanted, or gathered his courage, Alastor asked in an unfiltered voice, “Do ya think...Do y’think you could fall’n love again?”
Self restraint was surprisingly on of Angel’s stronger suits, despite what he led people to believe. And now, he was happy it was because without it, he would’ve overstepped Alastor’s personal space and ruin whatever it was that was happening right now. Instead he lowered his lids and smiled warmly, “Yeah, I could. What about you? Think you could give being twitterpated a shot?”
“I won’t act a fool like those little animals from the picture, will I?”
“Would you care?” Angel asked as he reached out a hand.
Alastor thought about it for a second but answered Angel’s smile with a warmer one of his own and laced his fingers with Angel’s, allowing the spider to lead him upstairs to bed, “Not at all.”
