Ok… so ummm… they are in no particular order:

1. The last Agni Kai of course: The music, colors, emotions, the rise of one sibling & fall of another. I adored the red vs blue & of course the whole ‘self sacrificing Zuko’ lol

2. “get out of the bisons mouth Sokka”: It was just so funny to me Zuko was already done with everyone shit and he JUST joined the gaang imagine if he has joined season 1 hahah.

3. Zuko swimming into the NWT: because like…. You fucking idiot.

4. Anytime aang went into the avatar state (esp in season 1): he was such a goofy child then he would start to glow & there was so much power inside him idk I thought it added to his character a lot and reminded people that this kid is the fucking avatar

4. “Come back when the good is on the outside too”: or however the quote goes when iroh came to get the gaangs help to save Zuko and Sokka once again was just like nahhh fuck that guy. (This also goes along with the Sokka wanting to leave Zuko to die in the snow - I just love he wasn’t having any of zukos shit)

5. Zukos gay fire breath and sokkas bi awakening: because for an early 2000s show that was hella gay

6. Zuko blue spiriting to save aang: it was moment I think I started to like Zuko haha.

7. When the gaang was training for the final battle with Ozai & they were all fighting together & at the end Sokka and Zuko were pretty much like you gotta kill the fire lord aang & Sokka sliced the melon head in half; (toph being the melon lord was epic too)

8. Sokka Ice dodging a bato: idk that was such an important moment for Sokka & he deserves to feel important and have a male figure invest time into him so hell yeah Bato.

9. It’s a tie between Sokka telling toph boomerang isn’t coming back & toph saying “that’s a lot of fire isn’t it?”: the seriousness of that scene and the way Sokka never stopped fighting & how he would have held onto toph as long as he could - it was such a powerful moment (& then of course Suki saved the day!!)

10. Last but not least the kyoshi warriors training with Suki whooping Sokka into shape! Suki is one of my favorites and she is both firm and gentle with Sokka which I think is fun! (& then Zuko comes to burn everything down and Sokka gets to fight with the uniform on haha!)

11. Because fuck it, any scene with Zuko & Jet interacting - it’s like two scenes, one when they kissed on the ferry, and then their major break up with swords. That’s how it happened don’t argue with me.

..why do I like Ikrie. The question might as well be - what don't I like about Ikrie, or.. why do plants like sunlight. She's warm, her existence nourishes me, she comforts me.

I like her because she's Ikrie.

She takes her fears and doubts and shoves them deep into a glacier crack, together with her grief. She forsakes the ways of her people if they do more harm than good, she's not afraid to ask for help or offer it. She knows the value of shared burdens and past grievances laid to rest.

I don't know. I guess Ikrie (like Aloy and Beta, each in their own ways) represents parts of myself that I've done my best to nourish and grow, and some that I still struggle to come to terms with.

I like that she's her own person, that she knows what she wants and when to take some time to process before she proceeds. I want the best for her because she's been through a lot and she deserves love and rest and calm (and all the excitement and thrill she might want).

I don't know who you are, anony-mouse, but I think it would be easier to understand if you come hang out and ask more specific questions. I promise I don't bite and I'm always happy to chat about my fandom faves. I am sorry but my first thought was pertaining Helaena. Like, are her and Aegon married? Does she have kids already? Because imagine Helaena's thoughts and feelings watching all her brothers fight over impregnating their Mother.

Alicent is a sweet girl who knows how to behave in front of nobles, who understands what she can do with the little power she possesses and how she has to rely on kindness to get what she wants (Sansa-coded <3) and then there's her only daughter, who sometimes cannot control what blurts out of her mouth, who's strange and off-putting and who Alicent has trouble connecting to.

The Daughter who gets married to her older Brother as is tradition, but all her older brother can think and talk about is their Mother. They make love and it's clear Aegon is treating it as a chore to make their Mother proud. Helaena gets pregnant and Aegon only starts smiling once Alicent hugs him and tells him he did good.

There's her two younger brothers, Aemond and Daeron, but while Daeron spends the precious few days he has with his family trying to impress their Mother, trying to get as much attention from her as possible, Aemond - who's arguably Alicent's favourite and the one she connects to the most - never has to try at all. Alicent's thoughts are always with him, when he isn't there he's the first thing she asks about (and not in the weary way she asks after Aegon, afraid of the answer; she sounds almost distressed to not have him at her side, within her eyesight).

And where does that leave Helaena? Always alone, always an afterthought within her own family. She's loved, she knows, by her Children and by her Mother and by her Brothers, but it feels almost like a sort of duty to love.

She's loved because she's a Sister, she's loved for being a Daughter, but never for love's sake.

Now suddenly, her Brothers are arguing over their Mother and getting her with Child and none of them ever argued about her like that. She was never wanted like that, not even by the Brother she had to marry and she's too much of a dutiful wife to let her affections ever stray but it still leaves her bitter.

She is their Mother as much as their Brothers are, why do they forget?

Probably not the kinda answer you wanted but I couldn't help myself.

There are several ways I could see this go down:

Helaena dyes her hair darker to look more like their Mother and her Brothers suddenly have very confusing feelings regarding their Sister (which could totally blow up in her face the moment Aegon has sex with her and calls her Mother)

Helaena's been angsting in her head but the only reason the boys never fought about her like that is because Aegon called dips ages ago and Aemond is actually waiting for Aegon to give his okay to make love to Helaena (because he's a dweeb and can only 'make love')

She teams up with Daeron because Daeron also feels like an afterthought next to the perfect son and (arguably but not to me) Alicent's favourite son and Daeron knocks up Helaena while Aegon and Aemond are busy arguing over Alicent

Helaena does not knock her Mother up (obviously) but she's the one who beds their Mother first (and it's kinda harsh because Helaena has to work through some things)

Somebody else (and I am voting Larys or Otto for the creep factor and Ser Criston for the 'I am still only coming in second after my Mother' factor) takes advantage of Helaena's vulnerable state and impregnates her and the Green boys are so very mad about it but also cannot do much because that's on them.

I feel like 1 (one) of the reason the fan favourite ship of a fandom ends up being despised so much is that usually, they are comprised of one (or both) characters being fan favourites. But there is one that is more favoured/popular and the ship ends up feeling like it exists for that character. And if you're a fan of the lesser liked/popular character you kinda have to see your blorbo changed and made to service that character in real-time.

hey! i stumbled across you on ao3 through genshin (i think? that was in september i have no idea at this point), went to check out your profile and saw my hero academia works there. i am currently very much into it, so i was like let's gooo sooo I found B♭ and that has been a wild journey.

firstly, i don't have any experience with american school system, so a lot of worldbuilding was new for me. moreover, marching band is something from another universe(aka music lover but never got educated on the matter), so fic constantly challenged me with new details-concepts-vocabulary. stepping outside of your comfort zone while reading? great idea! i think i never learned so much from a fic while enjoying it so much ^^

secondly, i am simply amazed by sheer amount of effort you put into it. i decided to read in publishing order, so non-chronological really impressed me. you're honestly a mastermind being able to pull that off. also, having a song for every chapter with specifically picked out lyrics relevant to the content is so, so cool! the diversity of your playlists should be astonishing, i'm jealous :)

thirdly, the characters are just so real. i love all the canon references, i love the reactions that don't feel exagerrated or too mild. they are acting...exactly as i would expect them to in that circumstances and setting. i just accepted leads' ways of thinking and reflecting so naturally

i also read the extra notes when they were available and just...how much thought is put in is mezmerising. for some reason i never thought pulling directly from your life experiences when writing? but it actually makes a lot of sense and it brought me some ideas to try out so hehe ;)

as i am very smart and hadn't scrolled down on the order post, i didn't see until quite late in the reading that the end of perfect harmony is published as notes, so that was a surprise. i understand your reasons and the fact that you're not even in the fandom anymore, but you mentioned in some extra notes that it's ok to ask for them even if years passed so...here i am three years after, complimenting B♭ :D

anyway, i finished it a couple of days ago, and even the notes are quite detailed. images of described shenanigans popped into my head just like that, and i really appreciate that you published them and i got to know what happened next!!

anyway yes Bb!! the amt of effort n planning i put into that series was legitimately insane. i made school schedules for EVERY SINGLE BNHA CHARACTER and PUT IT ON A SPREADSHEET so that i could PLAN WHO COULD WALK WITH WHOM TO THEIR NEXT CLASSES n have PLOT-RELEVANT CONVERSATIONS LIKE THAT. i made little profiles for each of the characters, where i chose their favorite musical key (and why), how many years/instruments they play, and gave them each a funny little quote/catchphrase!!!

i definitely loved working on Bb a lot. i remember sitting down three years ago, practically to the day by this point, n hashing out the events of every single chapter to the epilogue, then reorganizing them into a proper timeline (i also kept a calendar in my notes with the chapters in order), all while occasionally looking out my bedroom window n thinking how wonderfully bright n warm n sunny the world was becoming again. bc really, 2019 was a very struggle year for me, n i didn't take the time to appreciate the sunlight then the way i have every year since. from there, i worked off that very strict outline, and most of the note-chapters that were eventually put up are primarily just copy-pasted straight from there.

i remember being on youtube a lot for music recs when working on perfect harmony too!! a bunch of them changed in the years btwn walking away from the series n actually publishing the notes (which were actually published mid-december last year, then backdated to 2020 a few days later ahaha), with a number of the tour arc alternate chapter title songs coming from songs that didn't even exist at the time of the fic's original planning. my mp3 collection grew a lot during the planning phases of Bb lmao.

i'm glad the characters felt so real!!! while no one character was based entirely off one single person i knew irl, one could say that writing Bb was a bit of a love letter to my time in high school band in some places, both the events i partook in n the people i knew there. it was a very "write what you know" type of fic.

anyway haha yeah the end of my bnha days were not fun, but i still loved Bb enough to hold onto the idea of returning to it Soon(tm) that i put off publishing the chapter notes for almost two years. even then, that was a difficult decision for me to make bc a part of me wasn't ready to close that chapter of my life. i think ultimately it was the best decision to make though, since the fics are p heavily tied up in a much sadder part of my life that i'd just rather not return to.

the main reason comments were turned off of Bb (and indeed, the majority of my bnha fics) is most simply described as "resentment". it's different from how i feel abt my old snk fics (where i turned comments off of them so that i could pretend no one's really reading them anymore), which is more impersonal "oh my god i was so young back then and i give fewer than negative shits abt any mistakes i might've made on them or what anyone thinks of them" bc in bnha it's kind of hard to avoid the fact that i had a Name in the circles i typically traversed for a while. it wasn't that big of a name, but it's certainly more than nothing.

it's not really a feeling i like to dwell on, so i just archive-locked the responsible works n turned off comments for the most heinous culprits (mostly sparklers, but even tho i love Bb as a story, i do not love Bb as a publishing experience, if that makes sense), and for the most part, that keeps the resentment contained.

still, i'm genuinely happy that you enjoyed the au so much!!! i honestly love love love how goddamn SPECIFIC the premises are for this fic. the world was truly built with love, and the music puns for every title were always such a joy to come up with c':
