ohhh since we’re talking retribution au, are there any headcanons/more lore on the agency that you haven’t shared yet? i find the members relationships to be really interesting :O

!! i actually don't talk much abt the aor's relationships with each other even tho i shld !! the only one that really gets emphasis is taniatsu, and that's because they're around each other all the time. like, tanizaki is atsushi's only friend. atsushi is the introvert that got dragged along to the party and is desperately clinging to tanizaki's leg because there are a lot of fucking people here that i don't know while tanizaki proceeds to do the dumbest shit possible. but the other aor members are indeed living out their lives !!

kunikida is often trying to wrangle dazai, yes, but he and yosano get to bond over being former racers out of obligation; and every once in a while, kunikida will get her to race with him out in the tokyo circuit. it's a once a month type of deal, and they usually don't talk about it after, but it's the way they bond. kunikida and tanizaki don't really trust dazai, as a person, but they trust that he's always going to help them the ways that he knows how. fukuzawa can't stop them from racing but he can teach them the things that he knows so they'll be as safe as possible. ranpo doesn't race on his own often, and he rarely does actual work in the shop, but if there's anything that's ever puzzling the other mechanics - they know they can ask him. they're this weird, lopsided family brought together by obligation of not mentioning the street-racing circuit that they're part of, but they all seem to find themselves more and more comfortable with each other as time goes on.

Rewatching AOR again, and I realized something about the exchange between SkekSo and SkekZok when they think SkekMal is dead and deserves a funeral rite, with SkekZok being embarrassed admitting there is no rite since none of them died since the beginning

Originally I saw it as "strange", SkekYi and SkekHak did die, it was as if they ignored them. So I interpreted it as them not counting them or even having forgotten about them (after all the movie shows they did forget about Aughra too)

Then we all saw the tableboard with all the Skeksis titles on which was "Spy Master" we all suspected to be SkekUng, and there were 2 other ones, the Merchant and the Steward. 18 in total. So we supposed those were SkekYi and SkekHak. Especially since apparently in the new canon from the novels SkekHak IS still alive so who knows, AOR being even different it wouldn't be far fetched they both would be. Unless those were for flashbacks or storytelling

But upon listening to it again, SkekZok says "no Skeksis has died since-" then pauses as if self censoring or scared, and finishes more nervously and vague "the beginning...". Now sounding like it's not that no one died from the start, but no one died SINCE the start but they had at this very moment. Which is making me think that Skeksis (so SkekYi and/or SkekHak) DID die at the beginning, but it was not talked to again out of fear of death, out of censorship, and that it was so early there was no rite and they just got rid of the bodies. Making more sense why SkekSo would ask for a rite supposing perhaps SkekZok had actually done some sort of rite instead of none, rather than assuming there was one planned in case one would die which is weird from a species who refuses to see Death as a possibility

Making me also think. Everybody at this moment thought comatose SkekMal was dead. "None" of them having died, it was logical they would not know an actual dead Skeksis fall into ashes since it was not the case of other species. But if indeed SkekYi and/or SkekHak died at the beginning they should know. Meaning either they forgot/self-censored and self-convinced to forget as a denial of their mortality, OR they did not fall into ashes. Meaning my headcanon that the Skeksis originally wouldn't fall into ashes when dying but do so now only because they are very ancient and years catch up all of sudden may be true after all !

And if TDC AOR Tactics' comment that SkekMal's mask looks like a Skeksis skull is to take seriously and canon, it could truly belong to obe of them like I HC it is

from what you said on one of your recent fics, i’m just curious about your theories and/or headcanons for Jen and Kira’s parents? not trying to start any arguments or anything, i just love hearing people’s different takes! i’m not sure which ones i agree with yet.

Yeah! :) I've thought about this so much. This might be kinda long since I have quite a bit to say about it. (Some of it might not make sense, please ignore me on those parts haha!)

I'll start with Jen, since I'm pretty solid on my theory for his parents. I really do believe that Jen is the son of Rian and Deet. I'm not sure exactly what will happen with Deet and the darkening, but I choose to believe that they find a way to help her and that her and Rian can be happy, at least as long as they can before we know what sadly happens... Anyways, Jen reminds me so much of Rian, and now it's confirmed via Dark Crystal's website that Jen is a Stonewood. (I know Kylan is half Stonewood, but they still call him a Spriton generally, so it doesn't make sense to me that they would call Jen a Stonewood instead of a Spriton if Kylan really is his dad.) Also the bits of white in Jen's hair reminds me of Deet's hair. Besides his looks, I have thought a lot about Deet too. I think something unique may be going on with her given the way she can talk with the great trees and how she was trusted with the Sanctuary Tree's power. Her name is literally Deethra too, with Thra in it. (That might not even mean anything but like... it's been heavy on my mind haha). If she has some kind of special significance to Thra, I think that would be fitting that her son is "the chosen one". In the case of Rian being Jen's dad, that makes Ordon Jen's grandfather. Ordon is the one who found the dual glaive during the Arathim Wars (with Fara's help) which we know had the crystal shard that Jen used in the movie. I think that would be a cool connection. :)

For Kira's parents, I still don't have a completely 100% solid theory. My initial thought was that her parents are Brea and Kylan. I know those two aren't even officially together but I felt like some kind of chemistry was happening between them and it might be leading to a relationship. We know for sure that Kira is a Vapra (again, via the Dark Crystal website), so I'm definitely thinking Brea or Seladon is her mom. There are a few things I noticed about Kira. First things first, she has a bit of green in her hair. This part is what has me stumped a little bit. We know Gurjin has green in his hair, but if you look close enough it looks like Kylan has a bit of green it his as well? I saw a post about that with pictures. Comment or message me and I'll try to find it and link it. Okay, besides that... Kira's wings. They don't exactly look like any of the wings we see in AoR (that I remember) but the two times we do see them, she is using them more to glide than to fly. Maybe it could be something like no one taught her how to use them (she was literally raised by podlings, how would they teach her?) But honestly, it made me immediately think that she descends from a Drenchen (Gurjin). Not to mention she lived in a swampy like area. I don't know if that would have anything to do with it though, just a little thought. We do see in Deet's vision, Brea running through the woods with I'm guessing Kira, with how similar it looks to Kira's memory of her "mother". And Kira literally calls her "mother". There's still the chance though that Seladon is her mom and that Kira went into Brea's care after her death or something, and Kira having been so little only remembers Brea and just assumes that she's her mom. Last thing is I'm automatically assuming Seladon will be the last All-Maudra. That could give some significance to Kira, the other gelfling in the prophecy, being her daughter maybe? Perhaps I'm just overthinking all of this haha.

So, all that said... long story short, I think Rian and Deet are Jen's parents. I'm not 100% solid on a theory for Kira's parents though. I really really want it to be Brea and Kylan, but I'm thinking it might actually be Gurjin and Seladon somehow.

I also love hearing people's theories and talking about my own, whether it's about Jen and Kira's parents or anything else. So share yours with me or ask me for more theories! :)

(And please don't be rude or try to start arguments. People can have different theories! Nothing is exactly confirmed yet besides those two small details. No need to be rude or argue over this stuff. We can all share our thoughts and opinions in a nice way!)

I don't remember everything I headcanoned back when I wrote those two, but I know I always envisioned Path-Breaker Gra being hungry for new knowledge and new experiences, and he wasn't shy about expressing his excitement when he found them. He'd come home brimming over with things he'd found on his trips, and sure, everyone loved the exotic spices and meats, but it was Tek who he could gush over weird bugs and rocks with.

Tek almost certainly pulled ticks off of him like a kid opening his Christmas presents, and Gra found it adorable.

She'll bring Alex food sometimes when she knows she hasn't been eating.

Gurjin goes to the castle, immediately sees Rian and decides that he finna bully him

Well that's not 100% true lmao

Homeboy thinks Rian is only in the guard because his father is the Captain

Gurjin has to share a room with this lil shit

Rians always abandoning post when he shouldn't, stealing food, etc., so at first Gurjin acts aloof towards him

Gurjin picks on Rian for just about anything; his height, his phobia of spiders, literally almost anything that'll piss him off, albeit it's mostly just harmless quips

Surprisingly, Rian almost always claps back so quickly that it leaves Gurjin speechless

But, Gurjin thinks he's all talk until one day, after a particularly nasty comment during battle training Rian absolutely wrecks his shit and Gurjins just *Gabriel Iglesias voce* "Oh I gotta shut tf up,,,,,,,,"

One day, Gurjin sees Rian leave his post, and, since he's still bitter about Rian whooping his ass, he snitches to Ordon

At first, Gurjin is satisfied... until a little while later he rounds a corner and sees Ordon straight up yelling at Rian, and the Stonewood boy looks genuinely upset

Gurjins shocked, and after a moment it occurs to him to step in

He tells off Ordon, surprising all three of them, and Ordon decides to fuck off after telling Rian that he's "got more important things to do than scold a misbehaving childling that can't even stick up for himself."

After Ordon leaves, Rian turns on Gurjin and tells him that he should have stayed out of it before storming off, leaving Gurjin alone

He decides to be nicer to him after that

They rarely talk to each other for a full unum

But, they realize they have something in common: They love annoying the fuck outta Tolyn

They both accidentally team up to prank Tolyn, and use their free time to talk shit about him and Kylie Jenner his stupid Vapra girlfriend

Cause absolute chaos around the castle together

Everyone's like "Oh Thra now there's two of them."

They actually like spending time with each other now

Probably a couple unum into their friendship and Gurjin realizes that???? Rian's actually kind of hot????? And he has pretty eyes and a cute laugh and smile and??????????????

They gradually get more and more flirty and affectionate with each other
