Kana says ppl are fixated on the child she used to be and no one sees her for who she is now, BUT when people comment on her star quality they think back to her child actor days,
and Aqua thinks of the current her 😭
and it's not even an image of her acting on tv or anything.. she's just in her uniform and aqua thinks she shines like the fucking sun. the crush filter is crazy

Aqua/Kana’s Interest in Obscurity
A reoccurring thing throughout the manga is how both of them like obscure facts.
First: The weird book series that they both like.
Second: The little quiz at the start of chapter 108
Third: Aqua stating random facts to Kana in chapter 117 and her being impressed by them
It's a funny shared interest that the 2 of them have, and I like seeing it pop up again in the recent chapters.

Some cute Ai/Hikaru and Aqua/Kana parallels I found as in they have friendly banter
(spoiler ch 140)
Ofc both Dynamics are very different but they just banter over the most silliest things, and Ai and Hikaru were just downright petty when they couldn't decide who was weirder out of them both Hikaru just resorted to pointing out Ai's mismatched socks😂while Kana just likes to tease Aqua over the most insane stuff that are somehow true most of the time.
There's also this
Hikaru/Ai also have a lot of parallels to Akane/Aqua as well but that's for another post
I'll just drop in these cute pics as well because why not?
Also side note my exam is tomorrow and they only informed me today now I have only a day to prep 😭

Aqua is so hilarious man, first he dresses up as a duck cuz Kana won't talk to him. Haven't yall noticed that his wardrobe consists of jackets, hoodies, and shirts and then for his date with Kana he decides to fancy up then pretends he wants to go home, all while he already has a dinner reservation ready I can't w this guy💀

People in OnK fandom want incest for the forbidden romance thrill (which is NEVER going to actually happen mind you), as if we don't already have a beautifully forbidden romance that is sprinkled throughout the story. 😩
The "being in love with an idol". Idols aren't allowed to fall in love according to the public, and Aqua certainly won't pursue being in a romance with Kana as long as she's an idol, as he wouldn't want what happened to Ai to happen to Kana.
How Aqua throughout the story has clearly mentioned interest in romance, and Kana represents someone he could pursue happiness with if only he were to let go of his revenge. She's been associated with normalcy/light on multiple occasions. Until Aqua gets his act together, an ending with him and Kana is not possible.

headcanon: Kana's innocence & source of trauma
The themes ' innocence ' and ' purity ' are often brought up in Kana's thoughts. How she believes it to be a flaw, that she's no longer pure and innocent. I've wondered what she meant by innocence, and couldn't understand well. Did she mean her cynical side? Being grounded and down-to-earth to understand what the entertainment world is like? Being willing to do anything for her efforts to be appreciated ( see when she almost consented to having sex with the director who praised her )? But reviewing some scenes on the manga I realized that's not the case.
Kana stopped being a child the moment she met Aqua. Ironic, isn't it? It was Aqua who wasn't really a child that 'robbed' Kana of her childhood. What I mean is: Kana was a child praised for her acting talent. She lived in a reality where she effortlessly became important. When she witnessed Aqua's acting, what she believed to be real acting talent, she realized she's never been a real prodigy. Her throwing a fit on set, wasn't the spoiled child wanting everything to go their way. It was her realizing she's never been talented or important enough, that she's been living an illusion that was going to fade. That was the beginning of her trauma, and when she actually lost her innocence. Arima Kana from the moment she met Aqua wasn't any longer the child who shone brighter than everyone, but a child who was going to eventually be abandoned if she didn't grow up fast enough to adjust to her environment. Kana, in order not to lose everything ( not to lose her mother ), she had to give up on the childish dream she had been living on, as a child.
Aqua is Kana's source of trauma, in a way. Yes, Kana would eventually be abandoned by her mother anyway. She was going to be disappointed and heartbroken far too many times, and maybe even give up on acting. But maybe, the real Arima Kana, the one Aqua has been trying to force to shine, could have continued to be an actor prodigy, and not the shadow of her talent she has chosen to show. Kana truly LOST her innocence when she was four years old, when a child shouldn't. She truly had to grow up, to the cynical self she hates.
And that's why it's Aqua's role to help her heal from her trauma. Comfort the child self she had to kill and mourn*.
* see the last anime episode where she's wearing funeral clothes
