Review time! For The Book of the Snowstorm
Disclaimer: I am a contributor for this anthology, and am off varying acquaintance with other contributors
First up, I should outline the format of these reviews. I shall do a short review of each story as I read it, barring the framing narrative which I shall review every third-of-the-book (that is, I shall review Scenes 1-7 together, Scenes 8-14 together, and scenes 15-22 together). Each review shall be posted as a reblog to this initial post, and on the Doctor Who Discord Server (in #book-n-comic)
(#1) Magic Bird of Fire
I liked the character of Aoife, I feel like I'm getting more and more acquainted with her family since reading Hervoken Halloween in Horrors of Arcbeatle . Pieter, a time-traveller of the future in the pocket of unreality which was the localised 1980s bar, was very fun. I've got to say, though, I didn't actually catch the fact that "the plague" was meant to be HIV/AIDS until I checked the wiki, but that's probably just my bad.
They all die in the end, but for now, they dance

Out Now - Book of the Snowstorm!
Tumblr media
I'm published again, it's a miracle!
Amazon Link (for ebook and physical copy -https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CR1FYNQW?ref_=pe_93986420_774957520)
Payhip Link (alternative link for ebook - https://payhip.com/b/OIkPi)
Lots more about the book below:
The Book of the Snowstorm is just an amazing anthology with a lot of passion put into it from all the writers, so many of whom I've gladly written with in the past, and quite a few new voices who I'm sure will make lovely additions to this community that's been built up over the years. This book is like a portal to many, many areas of indie sci-fi/fantasy publishing, some of which from Arcbeatle Press, some of which leading elsewhere, and many of it somehow connecting to Doctor Who. Fortunately, despite this level of interconnectedness, this book works as an introduction to all these characters and concepts (and not all the stories feature pre-existing concepts).
Also, I wrote something! Jenny Over-There's Wonderful Life, featuring my favorite underdescribed grouch* - this story actually started off as a throwaway joke in a different holiday special that I'm still working on (it features at least three ghosts if you want a hint), but then the call for pitches came along and I sporadically decided to turn it into a full story. It almost definitely threw off my schedule, but it was worth it!
In short, please go buy this book! As an ebook, it's only $3 (which is very cheap considering there are at least 800 pages worth of writing in this thing), and again it's the debut of many new writers!

Big Finish should play nice with the rest of the DWEU like Arcbeatle has done a lot for reuniting the EU after the second great BBV collapse shatter relations between the nations of the EU and whilst it is yet to unite with Cutaway Comics, Obverse have allied with both Nations of EU thus bring them all together. The only great missing parts are Candy Jar, Realtime and Big Finish I reckon sooner or latter Candy Jar and Realtime will be brought in to the Second Great DWEU alliance but Big Finish steadfastly refuses to join in. Just Because they can stick in Big Letters Doctor Who on all their stories advertising that they and they Alone (except for the BBC itself) have the rights to Doctor Who does not mean they are more important. If Big Finish Unite with the the Great Alliance and the other Factions of the EU we could see cooperation not seen since the DWM VNA alliance in the 90’s. Once Big Finish joins DWM and the NSA’s will have to also join lest they be out competed. And when United this great nations can lobby TV Who to have more EU characters on screen. We could See Frobisher, Fitz, Compassion, Bernice Summerfield, Cwej, Iris Wildthyme, Faction Paradox and even the 10,000 dawns making their first on screen debuts.
Instead of the Nations of the EU fighting like this they should come together and unite not become one nation but many nations all working together to unite Doctor Who under and Single great Banner of mutual Cooperation. We Will make the DWEU equivalent to The EU except not bound by European DWEU a producers only.

I wrote something in a book.
Tumblr media
Specifically cowrote a short story with @a-wartime-paradox, who asked me if I was interested and... now we both have a published credit.
Coloth: The Book of the Snowstorm is just a really fun book, coming from the people that have previously released stuff like CWEJ: Down the Middle and the 10k Dawns series. A lot of different people wrote stories over a month, making this the fastest turn-around on a book I've ever seen (but I've never been involved with book productions before).
I've seen some people do reviews of the stories in Coloth and so far it's been well received! One of the people doing reviews is Wyrdvora, but she skipped over "The Claus-Rosen Bridge", our contribution to the book.
So I felt it was important to say that it wouldn't have been half as good without her. She's a very talented writer and I'm excited, as a reader, to see what else she works on. She has a good work ethic and really great ideas - you can look forward to a Time Lord Archon, a shapeshifting Rabbit and an inhabitant of the Library encounter Jesus Christ, Santa Claus and Auteur... who's probably important, I only know him from the Doctor Who: Lockdown short stories.

There's a cool new anthology coming out!
Heyyy y'all- there's this really cool anthology called Academy 27 and it's coming out onthe 26th of March! It was written by really talented people and is being published by the same people! They're this wonderful indie publisher called arcbeatle press, and it would really help if you could preorder now if the book interests you!
Tumblr media
[Photo id: Sang Mi, a schoolgirl with blue hair in her school uniform, smiling brightly. She is facing to the right, and her index finger appears to be holding up the words "Academy 27" in large black text. Below that are the following words in black: "Just a normal high school with cyborgs, math tests, interstellar spies, secret plots, and budding romance. You know, school stuff! Read the adventure at tinyurl.com/mars27". This is on a background of blue sky with white fluffy clouds. End id]
So, Academy 27 is a slice of life sci-fi series about a schoolgirl on the planet Gongen- which is the new name for Mars, after they declared independence from Earth. It's in the universe of WARSONG! So, if you're interested, you can preorder the digital at the url above for only £3! The print comes out on the 26th!

Just saw the announcement from a few weeks ago, it looks like Arcbeatle Press (of Cwej: The Series fame) is releasing a Minister of Chance novel, written by its creator Dan Freeman!
The Minister of Chance is based around the character of the same name that Freeman first created for the Doctor Who webcast Death Comes to Time in 2001. The Minister of Chance got its own award-winning audio drama in 2011-14, stripped of direct Doctor Who elements but featuring Paul McGann, Sylvester McCoy, and Paul Darrow in major roles. Its a little unique in being a lot closer to high fantasy than the DWEU's usual science fiction bent.
More info about the book is at the links below!
It sounds like this will be a sequel to the audio series, but it could also be a novelization (the details are a little vague). It'll be out at the end of June!

The Book of the Snowstorm is out!
Tumblr media
At a mammoth-length (828 pages, with a higher word count than Cwej: Down the Middle), "The Book of the Snowstorm" serves as the first dedicated print installment of the Coloth series, but somewhat more importantly to this blog, it serves as the first release for quite a few upcoming expanded Faction Paradox universe (a.k.a "Doctor Who universe") authors, including the likes of:
Myself, writing The Claus-Rosen Bridge with @tvmigraine (Elodie Christian) and The Cathedral of Winter (solo)
@theangelshavethephonebox (Theta Mandel) writing Our Bleak Midwinter
@thienvaldram (Thien Valdram) writing The Dinosaur in the Snow
Beyond these Tumblr users, there were many more by both other new authors (such as Ismaeel Clarke) and established authors (such as @doctornolonger (Nate Bumber), James Hornby, and more). Of course, Snowstorm wouldn't be Snowstorm if it weren't for the multiple stories written by @aristidetwain , and his marvelous editing work.
With all of that said, here is Arcbeatle Press's own official announcement, and here is the direct link to purchase the book (and the American link). The ebook is currently going for £2.35, and the physical for £23.61

Oh hey, yet another thing from Arcbeatle Press that I'd somewhat benefit from you spending your money on!
In this case, the complete first volume of Academy 27, featuring my story about a killer janitor robot chasing some kids (because what's a slice-of-life series without sudden mortal peril?), and so many other stories by so many lovely folks.

So, since I didn't really promote anything while I was sick with Covid, shamelessly sharing this book I put a lot of work and love into. It's a (free!) novel written to celebrate Arcbeatle Press' 10th Anniversary. You don't need to know jack shit going into it, and other people tell me parts of it are deeply moving. Deals a lot with mental health. Also features Chris Cwej from the Doctor Who Virgin New Adventures because why not (and he's legally licensed to appear!). So yeah. Go enjoy it. It's free. Have fun.
