Argentinian black and white tegu actually have some way of generating body heat! They only do it during breeding season

Hi!!! Yes absolutely! He’s an Argentinian Tegu and he is my baby. He’s not super friendly but I still love him.

The last photo was before we got him the bigger enclosure but it’s such a goofy photo I love it.

A large harpy man he is 6' 9" at the shoulder he has eagle like wings with claws on them like a Archaeopteryx both of his hands has some sharp claws and both of his feet have talons almost of his body is covered in feathers. He's a strong and fast climber and flier.. also yes we are aware he looks like a woman but that is a dude. He hates being misgendered.(Same-Moontear.) Despite being friendly he seems to prefer hanging out with his friends and family to talking to most people.(Mood-Paradox) and finally his jaw has boney spike like fangs in place of his teeth. He is a carnivore that eats mostly beef pork fish or poultry. He dosent consider small rodents or small mammals prey. Also we found him because of his pet Argentinian Tegu. He named him Roger.

Well I let this guy soak in water and he tricked me into thinking he wasn't breathing, so I did little chest compressions and tried to breath in his mouth and nothing, so I was like the sun will fix him, so I took him outside and he came to life and chased me like he was a mini dinosaur, I had to take my full shirt off and throw it over him just to get him inside again. 🤣🤣 add me on insta : denofprops

I swear, ever since my partner's tegu woke up from brumation a couple weeks ago, he went from being kind of shy and quiet to having a sense of confidence and an actual personality. This lizard is such a troublemaker now but I love him.

Don't let that sweet, innocent face fool you. He's determined to trample all the plants in his enclosure to death and keeps attempting to knock over his heat lamp.

Really playing around with the idea of writing a Good Omens human!au where Crowley is the owner of an exotic pet shop.

The shop is called “AJ’s Exotics”. He raises various species of reptiles, amphibians, insects and arachnids, as well as some fish.

The shop is a part of the Tadfield Shopping Center and is the last shop on the line, which is exactly how Crowley likes it. His only neighbor is the occult tea shop next door, owned by Anathema Device, so he leads a very quiet existence.

He is well-known for having the most beautiful and healthy animals, and won’t sell to someone unless he knows they’ll take good care of the animal.

The other demons are all animals in the shop. Hastur is an African pixie frog; Ligur is a panther chameleon; Beelzebub is a gynandromorphic Brazilian black tarantula; and Dagon is a gargoyle gecko.

The shop pet is a black and white Argentinian Giant Tegu that wanders around with a harness on. His name is Dog. (Adam, Crowley’s godson, named him and loves him dearly. Adam will help out around the shop after school, just to hang out with Dog and pick up some lemon chamomile scones from Anathema.)

Crowley also walks around with a melanistic ball python named Sigil wrapped around his neck (replacing his tattoo).

His quiet existence is interrupted one day when the shopping center owner, R. P. Tyler, tells him that they will be extending the shopping center and adding a new shop next to his: an antique book shop. At first, Crowley doesn’t think having a bookshop next door will be so bad, but construction is terrible. There’s sawing and hammering all day, which is upsetting to him and the animals. On one memorable evening, the workers blow the power for the shop and Crowley is left scrambling to get heating for his reptiles and incubators.

By the time the new shop owner (what kind of a name is “Aziraphale Fell” anyway?) actually comes by to inspect everything, Crowley has quite the ear full prepared for him. And of course the guy is terrified of snakes. Might be useful to make him go away...

Too bad he’s actually rather handsome and sweet and he actually knows how to hold a decent conversation.

hey guys, this is a pretty weird question. I’m helping to rehome a lizard that was neglected and he’s here with me for the night. he’s an Argentinian tegu. he just licked lip and now I’m terrified cause I know like almost all reptiles carry salmonella... is something gonna happen to me? had anyone had experiences like this??

You’ve probably already done this, but you should definitely wash the affected area. While it is technically possible for you to contract the disease because of this interaction, that is far from the most likely scenario. It’s rare for diseases to jump from animal to human, and like I said in the last ask, as long as you’re keeping your immune system healthy, even if some germs did get in you, your immune system will fight them off. I’ve personally owned reptiles before and handled them without ever contracting salmonella. - Emily

Claude's wyvern in a modern AU would be a tegu, I think. Sassy and intelligent. Loves uncle Mitya and his lizard dad. His personality can pretty much be summed up as 'father I crave violence.' Claude walks it on a leash, and it likes to sit in laps, especially Mitya's because he's Warm.
