I like the dynamic between Ashton and Orym for a few different reasons, but it's mostly the poetry?
Like Orym being of the Air Ashari and Ashton being an earth genasi (but not quite), opposing elements
Orym starting out very idealistic, wanting to do the right thing vs Ashton starting out a bit bitter, jaded from what they've been through
But then growing and changing, Orym slowly losing that idealism because this is world ending shit, being betrayed but still a hero vs Ashton realizing the same thing but looking at Orym, looking at Bells Hells, and realizing they're part of something bigger, wanting to be a hero too
Both of them on the front lines, protecting the group, protecting each other
Orym thinking of Will, thinking of Dorian, (I miss you, I wish you were here) and Ashton thinking of Orym (I'm here, I'm here, I'm right here)
Both of them opposing elements, Ashton keeping Orym grounded and Orym lifting Ashton up
(This is all my interpretation, of course; feel free to ignore me).
ashton sitting down, digging their hands into the earth, breathing, getting quiet; ashton sensing their essences, feeling a buzzing in their head, feeling a vibration in their chest, feeling that there is something familiar about this place; ashton saying “we’re in the right place.” and orym, immediately asking “you okay?”
