Hi! Thanks for sending an ask, I'm feeling special hahahaha

I'm worried about s2, like really worried, but I believe there are two crumbs we should receive, like it's our birthright, and we will be robbed (most likely) if we don't get it - the relationship of Jaehaerys, Jaehaera and Maelor. The chances of us only getting to see a glimpse of them and some minutes after that the slaughtering happening is real, and it already is making me pissed off!

I mean give me their "good morrow grandma", give "sir criston will help us", give me "father is sleeping still", give me triple mini invasion of the council room by the little dragon riders, give me "mother we found another bug", give me "can we go riding with uncle aemond pls?"

It would have been great to see the Jaes in s1 being normal children. Anyway...

I also hope for interactions between Aegon and Aemond being brothers, and I'm d y i n g to get that one drop of Helaegon. I also hope for more interactions between them as a family, along criston, like give me one domestic scene and it will make my day.

And I want sunfyre and dreamfyre in my table, now. We even got Daemon sing to a dragon last season! I'm sure the producers could do something about it, not that I would get my expectations high.

In general, I want to see a normal interaction about anything that isn't about the throne, war, Rhaenyra, Daemon, whatever, just them being family and 5 minutes of family life.

I would even get happy if I get Aegon just holding a child I'm not that difficult to please!

Hello, this is the main blog to @cherryblossomsandhydrangeas. I wanted to thank you for your kind words yesterday, it did help me after those replies upset me quite a bit.

I don't know how those people got...all that from my post, but I've blocked them and a few others on all my blogs so they'll never get to misread a post of mine again. Hopefully, that whole event is over now, as the Sk8 fandom is pretty inactive on here, but if not I'll just have to bear my teeth and block some more, cause I refuse to let people ruin the bit of fun and love I have towards this show cause they decided my posts said something that they didn't.

32 years of service is quite the time! Would you say the office has changed a lot from when you first entered? Or has it remained like it was before?

It's changed. For the better, I think. Used to be Don't Ask, Don't Tell and now it's....y'know. Better, on that front.

We're using more tech solutions. I like R&D well enough but no gizmo survives contact with the enemy. Seems like every fifth one is something I'll actually use.

More diverse pop, too. My day you didn't get lycans and fae in O-Sec. Now I've got Sgt Broussard and Sgt Redrose across the site. Afternoon, ladies.

RA Characters as teams I've seen in the escape room I work at (inspired by @redrose-arrow 's restaurant post):

Will, Horace, Gilan

They struggle to understand that the room is a collaborative effort and want everything to be a competition. This is their first escape room, and they have booked our hardest one. They agree that they will not ask for any hints--they end up asking for 15 hints. Horace accidentally breaks a prop and is overly apologetic. We give them free drinks because they're so nice. They manage to get out with 5 minutes left and are incredibly excited about it. They huddle up in our lobby and do a chant before AND after the room. We're impressed they managed to turn an escape room into a sporting event.

Alyss, Cassandra, Jenny

They have a team name picked out and are ready to set the store record. They have dressed up in theme with the room, and have brought their own props to make the experience immersive. Halfway through the room, they get distracted and start dancing with each other to music from their phones . They cheer SO loudly every time they solve a puzzle. We know from the second they walk in the door that it's going to take them the full hour to solve the room. When they radio in, they trade bad jokes for hints. We're pretty sure they might be a little drunk, but they're a good time.

Halt and Pauline

They book our cowboy room, and are extremely quiet with the staff. We're all afraid that they are going to hate the room because they aren't interacting with our introduction at all. To our surprise, they put on cowboy hats as soon as they get in and pretend to shoot each other with the prop guns. They only ask for a few hints, but every time they get the answer to a puzzle we see Pauline throw her arms up on camera because she's been telling Halt how to solve it correctly for 15 minutes. They manage to translate the braille puzzle entirely without using the translation sheet, but get stuck on how to input three numbers into a cash register. Every time they radio in, Halt ends his sentence with "over." They tip $20 on the way out.

Duncan, David, Arald, Maddie

They come in for Maddie's birthday, and she's the only one who's done an escape room before. They choose one of our horror rooms, and we're pretty sure they have no idea what they're getting themselves into. Despite showing Duncan how to use a walkie talkie, we absolutely cannot get them to hold onto the button long enough to understand what they're saying. David and Arald are having the most fun in trying to scare Maddie, but they're really just scaring each other. Duncan ends up sitting on the couch for most of the game watching everyone else and shouting encouragement. When we drop the final jumpscare, David and Arald scream so loudly we can hear them in the lobby. Maddie solves 90% of the puzzles, but they all have a great time. They decide to book another room on the way out, and Duncan pays in full. We adore them and talk about how sweet they were all day.

Morgarath

He books our paint splatter/escape room hybrid. He comes alone, and argues about signing our waiver (he doesn't want to put his name down). When he is led to the room, he is shocked that there is paint everywhere. We explain the concept of the room again and show him the ponchos to protect his clothes. He solves the puzzles quickly and gets to the paint. He radios in and asks what he's supposed to do with it. We explain the idea of a splatter room for the 4th time. He leaves without touching the paint. A day later, he leaves a one-star Google review complaining that he didn't know there would be paint. In order to buy the tickets he had to navigate a page full of pictures of people covered in paint. We pray he doesn't come back.

i just had a genuine, mature conversation with two 12-year-olds about Flanagan possibly killing off Halt.

one of them said “the only reason i’m reading these books at this point is to see if he ever kills off Halt”

and the other looked her dead in the eye and said, “if the 80-year-old King-dude is still alive and thriving, Flanagan would never ever have the NERVE to kill off Halt"

one thing i love about will and halt’s relationship is that their father/son dynamic is never explicitly said to one another, but literally every single character in the series sees them and goes“mmmm yeah that’s a dad and his son”

Hello! First off, I love your blog! Second off, I have a burning question:

Have you read The Royal Ranger series, and if so, would you recommend it?

Like many RA lovers, I have read the original series a hundred times, but I have only read the first one/last of RA of The Royal Ranger series.

(spoiler warning for those who are first time RA readers that haven't finished the series; I don't recommend reading this Ask further)

I'm still heartbroken that Alyss died... and I can't seem to get over it, although I see Flanagan's reasoning behind it for The Royal Ranger. STILL. WHY HER!? 😭😭😭

Anyway, I've recently thought about giving it a chance and would like your opinion on the series, if at all possible.

To answer your question, I’ve honestly only read half of RR2. I keep meaning to finish it but then I get distracted with another book. So I’m unfortunately not the best person to ask. What I do know, is that @redrose-arrow is the BEST person to ask lol

Like you I felt burned by Alyss dead (I’m so sorry, that pun wasn’t intentional) and it took me a while to even pick Royal Ranger up again. So while I definitely plan on finishing the series, I haven’t gotten around to it

if halt comes across new wildflowers whilst on a mission, he’ll dry them and take them back to pauline

in *their early years* it kinda became a habit for halt to cook for the two of them and them having dinner together a few times each week

duncan asked pauline to, and she broke the news of caitlyn’ death to halt

the speak gallican to each other occasionally

pauline absolutely does not mind being less social or being social without halt

but it means so much when he occasionally agrees to come to a ball or meet her family

she also kept an eye on will, especially if halt was away

“dear” all the way

they’ll wager over anything. literally anything. pauline usually wins.

they have teamed up on arald before and they will again.

however, pauline will always side with crowley to team up on halt.

Aegon’s pov was so well written like? And I loved the way you described the family dynamics .The way Hel and Aegon are the one to name the baby and they don’t want Viserys is so spot on .And Helaena’s initial feeling about destroying the Lego set made my clench mg heart ,but I love that she joined too .

Helagon’a babies description was so good ,especially Maelor’s .And the most in character thing for Aegon is to make his children destroy the Lego set too and I ADORE THIS .

And the levee of cuntiness and pettiness you need to have for sending the ashes to your step sister is “chefs kiss)

Alicent going first was also such a niche fetal since she was he first victim of the family .And Aegon thinking about Criston killing Larys ? Kicking my feet and twirling my hair .

The prose was beautiful and I really loved the whole fic .

I believe aegon matured a lot, and boy learnt to be family driven, for most things.

I had to think what Helaena would do, because she wouldn't enjoy participating, however, she would like to get rid of something that brought them bad and hurtful memories, so eventually she would come to terms with it, but I believe it felt like killing her father (more like her sire) inside her. For both of them, that day would be like finally getting away from anything that was the past King and the suffering he brought them, including their marriage, the authority he used to have on them (but not over their children).

Alicent wouldn't like the idea, at the beginning, but I do believe she deserved to go first and she too, had to kill someone inside her mind. Her girlhood deserved that, and that's why I made her step (almost dance) on the pieces, the same way she was stepped on by them.

Aegon would be like "oh did you know larys enters my mother's chamber to look at her feet and threat her?", casually dropping the bomb after the wolf hour and winking at Criston. "I gave you a new sword and I believe you should use it..." He would tell Criston, but would never mention it to Aemond - he would make a decree forbidding the use of the word strong throughout the realm, and would order the destruction of strong ancestral home.

Did you hear the new Thor movie is going to include the cancer storyline? What are your thoughts on it?

(2) Personally, I don't think Taika should touch on a subject like this just because of how ridiculous this movie will be according to him.

I don’t trust Taika Waititi as for as I can throw him, so I’m not really sure how to absorb the idea that he’s going to be dealing with a storyline that is, yet again, pretty dark and really intense character arc-wise. He took the darkest event in Norse mythology and made it into slapstick comedy, so who knows what comedy he’s going to pull out with Jane’s cancer storyline.

I think it’s possible to write a successful comedic story about dealing with death. There are plenty of people who have terminal cancer/terminal diseases who often use humor as a coping mechanism, and humor in general is a very common method of dealing with trauma, so maybe Taika will manage to strike gold with the script on this one because of the rich possibility in entwining death and comedy. (Perhaps he will listened to the common critique of Ragarok--that for his jokes/humor to really land, there needs to be more moments when it’s just not funny anymore. That’s what’ll make it successful in my eyes--if he more selectively uses comedy to make the serious beats hit just as hard.)

If nothing else, I’m trusting Natalie Portman. She’s an amazing actress, Jane Foster is an amazing character, and I think Natalie would fight for her to have a solid character arc. So even if you feel like Waititi might bungle the execution, trust Natalie to at least try to give Jane her moment in the sun.
