First townies for my Vintage Save File have arrived y'all, yay!

I decided to build the first residential lot for my "1920s, '30s & '40s Save File" and finally added some townies to it, so introducing... Emerald Avenue! A collection of three beautiful, affordable shotgun houses inspired & built in the traditional style of New Orleans, featuring @pierisim's gorgeous Maison Meulière Exterior Set and packed all in one residential lot for your enjoyment!

First on the left we have Number 6, home to the honorable Dr. Wyatt O'Connery:

I won't be showing you guys the interior on this post as it isn't finished quite yet (I really want the houses to reflect the owner's personality and lifestyle, so it's taking me a while lol), but I will introduce you to Dr. O'Connery:

As you've probably already guessed, Dr. Wyatt O'Connery is the most well known, respected & inquisitive doctor in Del Sol Valley, even though he has barely been in town for a little over a year! His traits are Brave, Intellectual & Faithful (yes, they are CC traits), his aspiration is Nerd Brain and most importantly... he's single and ready to mingle, y'all! Will he stay that way and focus on his career, or will he find that special someone? It's up to you!

Next door, on the 8th, we've got the lovely Debenhams ladies!

This household includes Mrs. Ethel Debenham and her young, beautiful daughter Lila. But before we get to meet them, let's see their house, shall we?

The Debenham's home features an open concept kitchen (quite modern for the '30s, ya know?), a fully equipped bathroom & two bedrooms. Wanna play a game? Let's see if you guys can gather what they each do for a living just by taking a peek at their bedrooms:

Hi! I was wondering if you'd be comfortable woth writing Steve Rogers x reader who's a seamstress/designer that wears mostly WW2 era clothing?

A/N: OMG! I love this ask! Like seriously thank you so much! Also I drew inspiration from Edna Mode from the Incredibles LOL. Also I hope everything I wrote makes sense. Its two in the morning and my fingers won't stop typing : P Anywho! Enjoy!

People were surprised, to say the least, when you would present yourself as a designer. And not just any designer.

You were now in charge of updating, mending and designing uniforms for the Avengers.

Was it a real job title? Not really. But then since when had that stopped Tony Stark? He could update his armor on his own, and adjust it to his liking. The rest of his team, however, did not have the luxury. Bruce didn't need a uniform, while Thor had his own godly outfit. Natasha needed her uniform mended after a brutal fight. Not to mention she needed suits that would keep her warm in cold weather, and allow her skin to breath in the hot weather. Clint required a uniform that was sturdy yet easy to move in, since maneuvering was a big part of his gig. And Steve came back with more then a few rips in his uniform, on more then one occasion.

And with the growing roster of the Avengers, Tony had taken this particular step and hired you as the official designer/seamstress for the Avengers.

Every fabric imaginable was at your disposal. Not to mention the technology. You were working in your dream field, and was loving every second of it.

Plus it gave you time to work on your own projects as well.

And that was creating vintage clothing from the 40s and 50s.

Fashions from the years past had always fascinated you, and though you would love to wear the elegant gowns and other period pieces, the design and cuts of women's clothing from the 40s and 50s wouldn't get you stared at.

At least not much.

Besides, there was another more empowering reason you wore clothes from that era.

The first time you had met the Avengers, was after the Battle of New York. Tony had set you up, and you had met with each team member separately to talk about their new uniforms.

The day you met Steve, you had just finished speaking to Natasha and waved her goodbye. You were sitting on the tall stool by the bar within the Avengers Tower and going over your rough sketches and notes. As was the norm, you were wearing pants and a shirt styled after the 40s fashion, a rare occasion since you adored the skirts and dresses that came with those years. Sensing someone approach you, you looked up, red lips pulling into a bright smile as you saw the Captain approaching.

"Captain, hi." You quickly stood, heels clicking against the marble floor as you did. "I'm Y/n, 'your new designer." He stared at you for a few more seconds, before shaking himself out of whatever stupor he was in and approached you. "Its nice to meet you, Ma'am." You smiled at him. "Call me Y/N." You offered, before hoping onto your stool once more and pulling out an entirely new sketchbook from your bag. It already had a few sketches of the Captain's uniform in it, plus some detailed notes along the margins.

"So, what is it you'd like me to change about your suit?" You asked, smiling at him as you crossed one leg over the other, pencil poised on a new page to start taking notes.

It took a few minutes before Steve began to speak to you openly. He was detailed about what he did or didn't want, and you were precise with your questions as you took notes. Of course the color scheme would remain the same, but you offered to create one that was entirely black, for stealth missions, you explained. He agreed, thinking that perhaps blue and red would stick out like a sore thumb in the shadows.

As you were tracing the shoulder of the uniform from the side, filling in the details as you went along you glanced up at him.

"What about the symbol?" You asked. The Captain stared back at you, confused. "What symbol?"

"Well you have the star as your personal symbol, but now that you're a part of the team, shouldn't you wear an Avengers symbol somewhere?" You gestured to the shoulder you had outlined. "I was thinking perhaps an A right there." You suggested. He glanced at the drawing before looking back up at you. A small smiled pulled at his lips before he chuckled. "I hadn't even thought of that." He admitted. Suddenly his blue eyes lit up and he gestured out a hand.

"May I?" Nodding you quickly handed over the sketchbook and pencil, watching in fascination as he began to do a quick sketch of the symbol he wanted that would represent his alliance. With the way he created the strokes with each sweep of the pencil, precise and elegant, you couldn't help but make a guess.

"Do you draw Captain?" You asked, your eyes never leaving his hand as he began to add in the details such as outlining and shading. The man shrugged. "A little bit." You had a feeling he was being modest. You had worked with designers and had studied alongside future designers, you knew an artist when you saw one.

"What do you think?" He finally asked, sliding the sketchbook back towards you.

Your eyes scanned over what would be the official Avengers logo before grinning.

"Look perfect."

It didn't take long for you and the Captain to be on first name basis. But then again it was the same with Natasha and Clint. While you mostly talked shop with the two assassins, with the Captain, now Steve, it was another story.

It was easy to talk to him, to go into depth when designing a new outfit for him. He was a super soldier, and regular clothing sizes didn't particularly make the cut sometimes. So it was the norm for you to be creating other clothes for him as well. He would come to you with an idea or even a rough sketch and you would make it a reality.

Then there were the mission outfits. Oh you loved those! Adding hidden seams and cuts into Natasha's dresses so she could hide her weapons. Helping Clint create a tuxedo that managed to hide several sharp arrows. Short ones of course, but still good enough to use with a crossbow.

Your work remained consistent and up to par, as did your dress sense. Not a day went by when you didn't wear something dapper whenever you went to work. You could always tell that there was a curious gleam in Steve's eyes whenever you two would interact, but you dismissed it. He probably thought you strange for your dressing style, but it didn't bother you. Tony had taken to joking about your style, but only in jest. He was just as impressed with your skills just as any other team member.

Of all the Avengers, Steve became a good friend. And you had secretly admitted to yourself that those blue eyes and smile did comes as a bonus. Not to mention he was in peak physical condition. If you had the guts you would ask him to model a few of your own personal pieces for you, but you would never come outright and say something like that.

At present you were putting the final touches on Clint's new uniform. He had decided that maybe he needed a little more dark purple and you had complied. Working with Kevlar was a pain though. It was hard to mesh the fabric together and create something that would fit with the man's physique perfectly.

You were getting tired, and your fingers were aching from the numerous pins and needles you had handled that day. Not to mention the constant cutting. Your hand was beginning to cramp and you had decided to call it a day.

Your workplace was stationed at one of the floors of the Avengers Tower and you could see the sun beginning to set. Sighing you kicked off your heels, stretching your toes and sitting back in your chair. You propped your feet up on another chair and leaned your head back. You had only just taken a deep breath when you heard the door slide open. Straightening up, you glanced in the general direction before relaxing.

"Oh Steve, its only you." You went back to your previous posture of relaxing. "Hurtful Y/N, that you think so little of me. I am a Captain after all." He feigned being hurt with a hand to his chest. To play along with his little joke, you instantly jumped to your feet, and stood at attention, saluting him as you did. The expression on your one was one of sheer concentration and attention, prompting the soldier to laugh out loud as he approached you.

"At ease, soldier." He patted you gently on the shoulder. You broke the salute to grin up at him. Your gaze flitted to the torn page he held. "New project for me? You do know how to spoil a girl Steve." You said with a teasing nudge to his shoulder as you took the page from him. He shrugged in response. "I just thought it'd be a fun little side project for you. You're always saying you love those." You hummed in agreement as your eyes scanned his rough sketching, already making calculations and measurements in your head.

"It'll take me a couple weeks to get to this though, I'm swamped." You gestured to the multiple projects she had laid out on rows and rows of tables. Steve quickly nodded. "Of course, work comes first." You sighed. "I wish I'd have extra time for my own projects as well, it took me two weeks to complete this." You gestured to the dress you were wearing.

Your outfit for the day was one of your own designs, and it was one of your best, in your opinion. You had paired it with shoes that matched the color of the scarf. For your hair you had gone quite simple, simply adjusting the waves and curls and allowing them to frame your features.

Steve did a once over of your dress. He was silent for a few seconds. "What?" You asked, frowning at the sudden silence. "Can I ask you something Y/N?" He said. Was he actually looking nervous about what he wanted to ask. You gave a nod, encouraging him to go on.

"Why do you dress like that?" He asked.

You blinked, tilting your head in confusion. "Like what?"

He shrugged before gesturing to your overall appearance. "Like you don't belong in this era."

"Oh! Oh my gosh! Steve! Is my wearing clothes from the 40s bothering you? I should've realized I am so sorry!" Your apologies were cut off when he shook his head. "No! No! Its not that." He seemed to be struggling to find the words.

"I mean that since I woke up I've only ever seen women dress in today's fashions. And I always thought dames would dress according to the latest fashion." God knows he had been aware of the fact. Bucky's sisters had always been obsessed with the latest trends. And he was sure that if they had seen you, they would've swooned over your outfits.

You gave a small sigh of relief. "Oh is that all? I thought maybe you didn't like the way I dressed." He shook his head. "I like how you dress, its like being back home. A little." There was no doubt there was a hint of sadness in his eyes this time when he spoke, and your heart went out to him. "Well I'm glad the way I dress has helped remind you of home." You said, giving him a small smile.

"And to be honest," You continued. "There is a bit of a sentimental reason why I dress like this." A quirk of an eyebrow on his part prompted you to go on so you did.

"My grandmother was a factory worker during World War II. When I was little she used to tell me how during those years women really started to come into their own. With the men gone, women stepped up and started to take charge of small businesses and working jobs that men had otherwise occupied previously. And because of this women had to wear practical clothing, like pants and shorter skirts. Sure there was also a fabric shortage, but it only helped women dress practically. Not to mention they had to cut their hair to keep it out of the way."

You glanced down at yourself, smoothing the front of your dress before looking back up at him and continued. "I dress like this because I love the style. It makes me feel pretty and I'm able to do my work efficiently." You paused. "But most of all, I wear them to remind me that women have come a long long way then simply being house-makers and small unknown business owners. And I honestly really just admire the way women took charge while their men were away." You grinned. "Talk about real empowerment."

By the time you finished talking there was a smile on Steve's face and a lingering sadness as well. You reached out to lay your hand on his arm. "Are you alright?" He nodded. "Yeah, just what you said, reminded me of a whole lot of women who I knew took charge on the battle front." He had met some brave soldiers during WWII, but he had also met some incredibly fearless women who were ready to charge the Nazis. Of course they weren't allowed to, so they tended to the wounded, drove them to hospitals, acted as liaisons and secretaries. Their roles were just as important as that of a soldier. And then there was Peggy.

Steve could see a glimmer of that fierceness in you that he had seen in Peggy. He had made his peace with the fact that she had lived her life. And now looking at you, a small thought took root in his mind. Maybe he could find someone to spend his life with as well?

"If you're done here." He gazed around the room, hands now stuffing in his pockets as his feet shuffled nervously where he stood. "You want to get something to eat?"

Alright, so hadn't been expecting that. A bright smile bloomed on your face and you gave Steve a little curtsy. "Such a gentleman. Let me just grab my bag."

He waited for your patiently by the door as you quickly pulled on your shoes and grabbed your handbag, tugging on your gloves as you went. "So where to?" You asked as you stepped up next to him. He grinned, offering you his arm which you gladly took, before answering.

"I know a really good 40s themed diner?"

"Sounds divine."

You mentioning Law and his constant use of vintage archival looks made me remember the rumors that it may be another archival look Zendaya wears to the Met Gala based off what Law said. I really hope that’s not the case because ngl I’ll be disappointed..it’s the Met Gala come on now give us something new and fresh at least!!

Don't be surprised if another vintage look is what we're going to get! I mean, honestly, Z looks great in just about ANYTHING she wears tbh lol (she truly is a blank canvas...as Law always says), so I'm sure she'll look great in whatever she decides to wear to the Met Gala this year lol.

But you're right, the Met Gala is where you're supposed to really be daring and take risks. That's the perfect place to really branch out and give people something they've never seen before! The thing with using vintage looks all the time is that you're already capitalizing on something that was already famous and successful in years past, so you're not really ever creating anything "new" and current that showcases your own "moment". It's always "an homage to...", or a vintage look "inspired by...".

Again, absolutely nothing wrong with that at all! But, I just feel like it might be good to switch it up more a bit. 😊

hair: styled like johnny depp’s hair in the 90s… he’s kept it shoulder length or longer since 1986—he ditched the bangs at some point in the early 90s! and since he doesn’t dye it, there’s some gray throughout

outfits: white or black t-shirt’s, black jeans, and converse high tops are still his bread-and-butter base. his style is pretty consistent because he’s not a big fan of change—he likes what he likes! it’s just super easy for him to throw something else over a plain t-shirt and walk out the door.

overall: he doesn’t typically keep his face clean-shaven, call it laziness, but sometimes he will wait two weeks or more between picking up a razor. he’s still skinny because he doesn’t always eat right, skipping meals because he gets too distracted with video games, but years of drinking are starting to take a toll and reflect in his skin, at times looking sallow

hair: styled basically like whatever hayden christensen was doing to his hair in 2003/2004, also not a fan of hair dye, and also as he got older there was a bit more wave to his hair

outfits: wears lots of flannels, band/graphic tees, polos, button ups with sweater vests, jeans/corduroy/khaki pants, adidas/saucony jazz/new balance style sneakers—usually laid back but he will also use any excuse to dress it up! wears square-framed tortoiseshell glasses since 2001 (when he had to renew his driver’s license he couldn’t pass the eyesight test—got his eyes checked and sure enough he needed glasses!)—and included that picture of noah wearing glasses cause when i saw it i was like, wow yeah, that’s not too far off, just change the frames and age him 15 years… lol

overall: usually keeps his face free of any stubble, also has a few gray hairs but not as many as mike and he likes to walk or run for exercise to better keep in shape, in the summer he’s been known to pick up a tan, and he has one tattoo—the word “love” written in morse code under the scar from where nancy burnt him with a hot iron [ .-.. --- ...- . ]

i was watching a video on plagarism in cosplay and the girl making the video managed to put into words something that i've kind of struggled with and tbh am still struggling to adapt to my "field" but. it bugs me so i want to try. also i should say this wicked isn't a problem it has happened to me all of Twice (one from each end) but someone finally summarized why it felt the way it did.

basically, a couple times people have commented on a fic of mine likening it to another that exists. sometimes these are innocuous and even lead me to people with similar headcanons and interpretations of the character as me. sometimes i don't like the other fic so it feels less flattering, but it's by no fault of how the comment itself is written. i've actually written a comment similar to this once and hope it didn't come across as naggy, but i found out someone else used the same prompt as me for catradora, so i basically left a comment about how funny it was that two people saw that inspiration source and went "ah yes, this could be catradora." it was supposed to be a "like sees like" kind of salute (as well as an acknowledgement that i hadn't seen their fic before as i don't go in the tags often), but i've since gotten comments that i think are trying to at least toe the line of doing the same thing and felt off (bitter, self-promotey, whatever) to me, so i retroactively worry about how they felt about it.

but really this post is about the time i had someone say "is this fic actually inspired by [other fic]" and it was 1) something i'd never heard of and 2) insulting.

so why is it insulting, what did the video finally put into words for me?

when someone accuses you of copying, using/having the same idea as someone else, etc, it is insulting the creative process and labor it took to make it. It's saying that you didn't/couldn't come up with that yourself, that you didn't develop and nurture it and plan out all the impacts this event/plot/au etc would have on the characters; that any time and effort and love you put into it never actually existed because you just stole it from someone else. it's essentially accusing you of being chatgpt, putting someone else's hard work in as input and cranking something cheap and less valuable out instead. they don't care about the work you put in anymore.

like, when i did the bachelorette au, it was straight up inspired by one that existed and i openly sourced that because it deserved it, but even then i still spent hours reading recaps of the show, previously had an interest in the franchise from podcasts, went and read interviews to get an idea of the general timelines, etc. I put a lot of work - my work, unique work, creative work - into crafting an au that, in reality, only shares the phrase "bachelorette au" with the initial source of inspiration (again, a source i love and am happy to credit anyway). if someone else wants to write a cosplay au for catradora, even if they think to do it because they read mine, as long as they're not copying the plot, backstory, etc, i think that would be super cool! honestly, i'd be flattered to be an inspiration source for that, just like i'm flattered when someone takes on one of my headcanons. it's just the basics of how creativity works. no idea, no matter how much it may feel like it, comes from nowhere. you start watching a vintage car tiktok and it puts you on a train of thoughts that eventually leads you to "lol but adora bent over the hood of her broken down car" and then you build that out until it is its own world with plot, backstory, and characters who have been tweaked by living in this different environment.

anyway, i know i've been incredibly unconcise but it boils down to creativity being a lot of effort and it doesn't feel good when people claim you didn't put in all that effort ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ man this post could have been so much shorter. should i edit it. aw fuck i have to be at work at nine tomorrow. yeah no lmao

Hello there I saw your ask on DesignatedHater, not sure you still or want help from other people but here. For a 1950 looking but modern outfit for Vox, you can look at the outfits in this post.

You should also keep the tie because 1950s news anchors worn ties instead of bow ties and the hat is a great way to keep that vintage look even if the outfit is modern.

For Velvet, you can add lighter palms and a dark top lip if you want but your current black features for her are enough. (At least you can tell she’s suppose to be black now and not whatever Viv did) To sell she’s an e-girl/pastel goth look, you can add accessories in her hair like hair clips, beads or bows, and add cute cheek makeup like lil hearts.

I’m def keeping the tie for vox don’t worry lol, the bow tie doesn’t really fit him, esp if he comes from the 50’s where ties were more popular.

Also I did see that post before, which did inspire me to work on my redesigns lol. On top of that, I want to give him that classy 50’s tv show host vibe that he apparently is meant to be while also having him embrace modern culture and technology. I loved the suit examples in the og post esp this one;

This one was the biggest inspo for me as it blends the classic style of the 1950’s and the modern times, which I think vox should embody. Not to mention that it would an even bigger emphasis on Alastor who is stuck in his own times of the 1930’s out of bitterness; so at least vox isn’t a carbon copy of Alastor lmao.

For velvette, I’ll def keep those details in mind, viv’s gotta get better at this stuff cause you have people only finding out that her and Alastor are black coded 💀

Regarding the accessories, I feel like these would help to give her that egirl sort of look esp with her hair and all

I think the choker, hair pins and multiple necklaces would suit velvette a lot, as I see her more as that pastel goth/tiktok egirl type rather than the current preppy look, especially if she’s meant to embody the internet, social media and current trends. Also def giving her that lil heart on the cheek!

Anyway, um, I liked it a lot. I actually DIDN'T like the way the characters were drawn, or their outfits, at all, but the rest of the art, like the environments and the witches, was cool enough to make up for it. Though, weirdly, the whole aesthetic effect felt SO thoroughly early aughts to me, that I checked multiple times that it really did come out in 2011, and not a decade earlier.

The story was a little fatalistic for my taste, but compelling and well-executed enough that I can't complain. Also, weirdly Christian?? Maybe that's just my Catholic upbringing seeping through, but in the final episode, I was like, "oh, I get it. She's anime girl Jesus."

But yeah, um. Loved the lesbianism. Loved how few men there were, lol. I really really liked all the details that went into the various witches and art/design references and such. (Though I'll admit I remain perplexed by the ominous vintage chair collection that appears first in the hospital room and then in Madoka's bedroom.)

As always, it's weird to watch stuff out of order, meaning, like, I've previously watched things that were clearly inspired by this. (This happens to me a lot lol)

Anyway, I believe there's at least one movie? Haven't watched that yet.

Come get dazzled by the silver screen at the ORPHEUM THEATER!

So after updating all my freaking mods for the new Horse Ranch update (which I couldn't care less about, tbh... the only good thing that came with it for me was— you guessed it!— painted ceilings), here I am once again with a brand new building for the Vintage Save File I'm working on: let me take you on a tour through the stunning Orpheum Theater!

I OBVIOUSLY couldn't do a Vintage Save File set in Del Sol Valley without including a proper theater where your 1920s, '30s & '40s sims could go watch Golden Age films, get mesmerized by their favorite movie stars' glamour and perhaps even take their dates and get lucky while sitting in the back seats?

I have to say just building the front— mainly the marquee, which I did manually— took me about a solid 3 hours, so apologies if the rooms I decorated last seem a bit uncluttered... I was simply ready to move on to the next build by then lol

Below you can see the tickets window (somehow I always seem to find a way to implement @surely-sims's CC into my builds, I just can't help myself... it works too good around my aesthetic!)

And the main hall, in which you'll find @ravasheencc's Film Reaper Movie Theater posters that will allow your sims to watch actual movies through a rabbit hole. I don't know if you noticed, but I also finally found the courage to download and play around a little with @twistedmexi's TOOL mod (the lights frames are rotated) after getting inspired by some of the content by @come-hell-or-high-water. The way he/she (?) pays attention to the tiniest details in his/her screenshots made me want to take mine a step further, so thank you @come-hell-or-high-water!

There's only one movie room, but it has two stories and a beautiful balcony on the second floor you can access to if you go upstairs, through the main hall:

Upstairs is also where the toilets are located (look at those gorgeous red velvet carpeted ceilings... 9 freaking years I've waited to be able to do that, EA!):

And, of course, it wouldn't be a cinema without a projection room, would it?:

Next to the theater you'll find a kinda shabby parking lot, in which Dito Dalton (see my previous post) takes care of some of his businesses every now and then, if you know what I mean:

Who are the members of this household, you may ask? Ah, you little inquisitive mind! I'm afraid you'll have to wait for my next post to find out... but let me tell ya, they have a great background story and will be a great townie addition to this save file :)

7. What do they like most about one another?

Edd likes that Eddy is passionate, funny, imaginative, intrepid, genuine, sensitive, and has strong conviction. He is impressed by his uncanny coordination and talents for dancing, cooking, athletics, and recall of film and music trivia. He is very physically attracted to Eddy, his broad shoulders, his fat and athletic build, little features on his face like laugh lines or the wrinkles on his forehead from furrowing his brows so much.

Eddy likes that Edd is intelligent, clever, creative, strong-headed, sarcastic, intuitive, curious, and ambitious. He thinks Edd is really amazing and will blab to other people about how impressive his partner is. Eddy also finds Edd to be sexy in a slinky, sultry, sort of weird looking way. He likes how his face completely changes from stone cold to almost unsettlingly cartoonish when he smiles.

8. What do they like least about one another?

Edd struggles with Eddy’s selfishness at times, partly because he never cultivated selfishness in himself growing up. It upsets him but he’s also sort of envious.

Eddy can get frustrated with Edd’s pragmatism putting up barriers, or when Edd avoids confrontation in favor of reaching a clean resolution.

9. What is the most common cause of conflict between them?

They are both very opinionated and strong-minded, so they bicker a lot. It doesn’t always lead to conflict but their stubbornness will sometimes drag on disagreement rather than finding consensus. I think they can be prone to bottling things up from time to time and this can boil over into blow outs here and there.

18.) How do they complement one another?

Thinking about this aspect of their relationship I think is the most exciting part of Edd/Eddy. A pretty common interpretation of the dynamic is that they provide a bit of balance and inspiration to each other: Edd gives Eddy genuine confidence in his own intelligence and ability to succeed, Eddy gives Edd the push to enjoy life and to indulge a little. They are one another’s biggest supporters. I also see them helping the other to break out of unhealthy habits while at the same time witnessing, accepting, and understanding what motivates the other. Their relationship is founded on a life-long friendship so they have a really intimate knowledge of the others’ ticks.

23.) Where do they live? What is their home like?

I imagine as young adults they live in a city and bounce between one shitty, poorly managed apartment to the next. Despite each place having something infuriating, they always leave with a new skill, a funny story, and at least one fond memory despite the situation. Ideally they settle on a place that’s a two bedroom/two bath with a decent kitchen and within walking distance to shopping, food, a park, etc. maybe one day they get a house because I love that image Raven drew of Eddy stealing flowers from the garden lol

I think Edd doesn’t have too many opinions on home decor, so long as things are kept neat and clean, and will defer to Eddy’s taste in furniture and interior design. He actually quite likes Eddy’s eye for second-hand and vintage. He does push back sometimes when the items are both too impractical and exorbitantly priced (like a giant martini glass lamp, or one of those chairs that looks like a giant heel). Eddy also has a mammoth wardrobe that is taking over the closet, and Edd begs him to go through and whittle it down like every other month.

24.) Do they have pets?

Edd keeps various tank animals and insects as pets over the years that Eddy has no interest in and no sense of ownership over. My latest headcanon is that a little lucky black cat chooses Eddy and his maternal instincts suddenly kick in. Otherwise I don’t think he would actively seek out a pet. Neither start out as cat people but she grows on them. I bet Edd would read up a lot on cat behavior and care and would get really invested in proper enrichment, nutrition, and feeding regimens. Eddy would spoil her rotten which pisses Edd off.

loves winter: elizabeth. this one, to me, is quite easy ––  elizabeth embodies a very wintery spirit no matter the season, but she has a particular fondness for the blistering maine winters at collinwood, and the most used to the cold (having lived there longer than anyone). she loves ice skating: she was excellent at it in her day, and taught carolyn personally. mugs of hot cocoa, elaborate hand-cut pine decorations (courtesy of matthew, or willie) and poinsettias and holly (courtesy of herself from the greenhouse), evenings warming up from the annual collins family snowball fight in front of the fireplace. summer: roger. this isn't so obvious vibes-wise because man always looks like he walked out of a vintage sears catalog with the turtleneck / suit / trenchcoat combo. but, unlike his sister, he's far more sensitive to the vicious seaside winds, as well as chill of the house itself in the wintertime. he loves a warm summertime walk along the beach in the seabreeze, or along the docks of the bay, or skipping rocks off the cliffside. likewise, a pleasure drive with the top down in the convertible, or a jaunt out in the boat. he is rarely happier than he is with a fun little umbrella in his drink and book of Romantic poety in his hand. true at collinwood and especially abroad in england in the summer.

as for the heist! i decided to include everyone even the muses i forget exist on this blog sometimes... lol.

the mastermind: liz. goes without saying. she has the most working braincells at any given time which make her the best choice for organizing/hiring the team/managing funds ... and a way of Authority and fabricating Truth that puts her in an ideal spot to be a heist leader. also, her unique relationship with law enforcement where they greatly respect her / are friendly with her, and yet immediately know if anything shady is going on it's at her house.

the conman: nathan. excellent smooth talker with a great knack for manipulating people, when he's put on the scent of that cold hard cash. he can be either (seemingly) harmlessly charming and flirtatious, or the more ruthless and backstabbing sort, whichever the situation at hand calls for. not bad with a crossbow if things go south!

the hacker: josette. every good heist team needs a ghost to disable locks, bug security cameras, spook guards, etc ! considering this role also usually entails keeping an eye on the rest of the team and keeping them safe / alerting them to danger, my good ghost buddy is particularly suited for that.

the muscle: gore. longest kill streak and the most ruthless with practical weaponry, not the least afraid to get his hands bloody ( they might have more trouble keeping him restrained / not attracting too much attention than anything else ) also just generally the most physically imposing – bulk, scary looking.

the inside man: vicki. no one will ever suspect the harmless little innocent governess :) i don't think she'd really be that good in the active part of a heist because she's a little too Goody Too Shoes for that ( and usually terrible unsubtle) but she is good at uncovering secrets, getting the lay of the place, reading her employers, things of that nature.

the fixer: eleanor. again, not terribly useful in the active, crime-committing part of the heist, but she Knows a Guy and she can absolutely acquire that thing that you need, and will see it done so that you can go out and commit the ultimate crime.

the distraction: lena. my little OH actress that could totally play the ultimate noir femme fatale ( or any other type of part ) depending on what the situation called for. there's definitely something going on there with her and liz but no one is stupid enough to say anything.

the driver: roger. does elizabeth trust her younger brother to take on an important role in a heist? not really. would he insist being a part of it if he knew about it? yes. what she knows he can do and likes to do is drive expensive cars much too fast (and making him stay with the car helps ensure he's not underfoot or interfering in her plans in other ways) i also rag on him for his repeated accidents a lot but generally speaking he's not a bad driver, especially considering the amount of alcohol usually in his system. just triple check the brakes :)

nah, she doesn't have her injuries, there would be no reason for her to get them after all! She does, however, have strabismus, which causes her eyes to be misaligned, and was just born with worse hearing out of her left ear. She sometimes wears medical patches to help strengthen her eye, but i have not drawn that yet.

AND YES! she picked out her own name. Her picking out Wilhelmina is partially inspired how for a bit i was considering picking out Valentine for my own chosen name+I tried to make all their human names at least start with the same letter as their kitty cat name. And no other W girl's name really fit the vibe for Warbler that I wanted (she is not a wendy, wanda, whitney, or Willow). The side effect of this is that She def shortens it to "Mina" which kinda defeats the point of them both starting with W LOL

But she would love to hear that you like her name!

Are there any canon characters that inspired your oc?

//Yeeeeaaaaahhhhh... Hanno's inspiration mostly comes from vintage/old cartoons, but character wise, he was mostly inspired by Popeye the sailor man, Haddock from Tintin and of course, Ryoma Hoshi from DRV3.

As a funny bonus, i originally had planned for him to have a similar personality as Ryoma, but the more i as working on his expressions and character, he pretty much started to give me a diffrent vibe, and he simply ended up being completly opposite of his concept.

TLDR version: Wanted Cateline to have a free boyfriend lmao.

Long ass version: As you probably noticed on my RP blog, i pretty much enjoy shipping and fluff, i'm a complete trash when it's about that, and i was definetly like so back when i made my first RP blog for Cateline, and basically shipping/relationship wise that happened back then, it was but a disaster, and doesn't help how toxic the tumblr RP fandom was back then.

Now that i came back, i honestly didn't wanted to go thru the same things that happened before. So to avoid it, while satiating my need to see two people holding hands and being mushy to one another, Hanno was created.

But also the idea behind his creation was, while conversing with my friends for our fangan-class, i thought it would be cool to try and design the token funny-looking/gonk character. (Tho he ended up being much cuter than i originally intended, so who knows if he is so or not lol.)

(So while tecnically multishipping is still a thing for my muses, at least canonically their happy together.)

Do you know of any pop culture stuff that has an at least semi-accurate portrayal of Mesopotamian history?

Well, not quite popculture, I suppose, but there actually is a fair share of genuinely great Gilgamesh-based art, two examples I personally like are M. Żuławski's (left; you can find an exhibition catalogue here) and L. Zeman's (right; you can find more of these illustrations here, I believe they come from an adaptation aimed at children?). There are actually many others, these are just the two sets of illustrations I remember the best rn. I also think that trailer for an animated Gilgamesh movie from a few years ago looked fine, I really like the Siduri design apparently made for it too (she's not in the trailer though, I believe) - I think this is the first time I see a work of media acknowledge she's actually meant to be a goddess and not a random mortal woman like many people seem to assume, lol.

There is also Enrique Alcatena's comic Ziggurat which looks breathtaking but I was not able to read it (yet). It's obviously using art from more than one period as inspiration (also, Elamite and even Oxus Civilization art shows up as obvious inspiration for a few monster designs), but I enjoy that, and arguably given how "antiquarianism" and purposely vintage-styled art were both in the vogue in ancient Mesopotamia it adds to the authenticity in a way.

What surprises me is that, mythological fantasy aside, there seem to be no historical novel set in like, the Ur III period. Most of what I can think of is Bible-based fiction, in which Mesopotamians are obviously one-dimensional villains (just like Egyptians tend to be in this genre, lol) and the familiarity of the authors with history is... more than limited. I think I've seen more detective novels set in Tang period China than I've seen novels set in ancient Mesopotamia, and considering how I actually work with books that's... probably saying something. In terms of games it's... not much better. Megaten has a few genuinely great designs - Mushussu, Apsu, Tiamat, Nergal, both Anzus, I actually even sort of like Pabilsag as a scorpion man design; the Civilization series has a cool Gilgamesh from what I've seen (should've gone with Shulgi though smh... getting 0 respect due to being overshadowed by Sargon and Hammurabi) but I genuinely can't think of many more examples. Straying more from popculture, but I've seen some old Iraqi postage stamps (I think like... 1960s?) with art related to the country's antiquity, I can't find them rn but they were very pretty. Commercial art is popculture too, right? As a side note, if anyone from the Iraqi Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities is reading this, please consider an app with cutesy cartoony versions of famous artifacts like the haniwa one the Gunma prefecture board of tourism made a few years ago, please. I would play it 100% ALSO does graffiti count as popculture? Because I’ve seen a photo of an Inanna mural which is probably one of my favorite Inannas overall a few months ago (source; the link is not nsfw but iirc some of the other photos on this account are) Also, this is not strictly Mesopotamian, but one episode of the French cartoon Papyrus featured traveling priests from Ebla and as far as I can tell their portrayal did match what was known about the city in the 1990s: NI-da-KUL is not really read as "Nidakul" today, but usually as "Hadabal," but the moon god theory is still valid (his cult center was later "repurposed" for Yarikh whose lunar credentials are not to be doubted), and they even managed to build the episode around the worship of this god involving a regular pilgrimage, though obviously its course shown (Ebla->Ugarit->Byblos->Tyre->Ashkelon->Egypt) is entirely fictional (I don't think any kid would be interested in seeing a cartoon about an old dude traveling through Bronze Age countryside though so it's fine).
