Yesterday's poll decided that The Adventurer should offer to help the travelers with their broken wagon.....

After much internal deliberation (and some zoning out staring at butterflies), The Adventurer decides it would be best to offer his assistance. Technically, he IS still following his goal of not getting distracted, because theoretically it would make his journey much faster if he were able to catch a ride on a carriage. So really, this is all an ultimate big brain genius strategy for maximizing efficient travel.. Or, at least that sounds like a good enough justification to him.

Gathering up all of his social courage, he approaches one of the travelers fiddling with a broken wheel near the far end of the carriage and meekly asks if there's anything he could do to help.

The man was so focused on his task, he seems initially startled to look up and find someone near him. "OH..! Oh, uhh.. help? With the wagon?", he smiles pleasantly, gesturing towards a few wooden boards that are just out of his reach, "Sure, kid. If you could just hand me th-"

"Apologies, but we actually won't be needing your assistance, stranger." A taller man, surprisingly almost matching the stature of the Adventurer, suddenly slinks out from somewhere behind the carriage, sternly placing himself like a barrier in front of the man working on the wheel. Wheel Guy nervously averts his eyes, making himself smaller, silently resuming his work.

The Adventurer tries his best to maintain composure against the weight of the tall man's bitter gaze, but can't seem to muster much of a response "Aeughh,,, uh… b-but, h- Bu--HHHh,,?.."

"Look, disregard whatever my father told you, he's old, never has any clue what he's talking about. It'd be best for you to simply move along." ('Father'? They don't look alike at all, and seem to be nearly the same age..)

"W-well.. he.. he didn't really tell me anything, I me-hhH,,.. I mean, I literally just got here, s-so...."

"Good. Even more reason to be on your way."

Placing a gloved hand firmly on his shoulder, the tall man begins to motion the Adventurer away from the wagon, but a strange noise interrupts, echoing from inside. Perhaps some sort of animal sound? Or a person faintly yelling about something? Or… both?

"WH-wHggg… whAT was t-that???!!" The Adventurer immediately stops in place, pausing to listen as the tall man keeps trying to push him ahead.

"I didn't hear anything, stranger."

"No, t-there.. was dEFinitely, UHH, a-"

"Likely something in the forest."

"Wh--aah... d.. do you think it was an animal?"

The tall man continues a dramatic struggle to 'subtly' drag him further down the road, whilst the Adventurer mindlessly digs in his heels, too distracted to even notice he's being so strongly prompted to leave.

"Many animals do, indeed, exist within forests. This should not be suprising."

"...It's just.. ..eughh… s… so weird…"

"I assure you, it is not."

"I-it really sounded like.. like it came f-from insid-"

"Yes, from inside the forest. Now, please, if you would.."

The noise interrupts again. It's definitely someone, or something, in some sort of distress.. And definitely from inside of the cart.

"wHoAAGH, aa!!! T-tHat's NOT from the f-forest, that-"

The tall man fully just shoves him now, sending the Adventurer toppling across the dirt, clumsily rolling and landing just past the other side of the carriage. A mother and young child who seem to be part of the traveling group simply stare down at him with empty blank gazes, wholly unconcerned about helping him up.

As the Adventurer fumbles back to his feet (still confused as to why he was even pushed in the first place), the tall man looms by the carriage, diligently watching to ensure that he leaves.

"Travel safe, stranger."

Despite his initial obliviousness, the Adventurer begins to piece the situation together as he stares back at the man, now fully convinced something suspicious might be going on...

…What should he do next??

God the horror genre. Is so many things. 

#AUGHh its so frusterating cuz like i feel like horror has such a potential as a genre to be worked into one that highlights opression #instead of feeding into it and there are def horror movies coming out and that have come out that tackle their themes in a way that works #not to endorse the fear of outsiders or the unknown but instead the fear of what is very well known but often ignored #but like ok so slashers right? I love a good slasher n the genre has so many really good movies but then you get movies like sleepaway camp #which are just. SO entrenched in transmisogynist ideas and queerphobia that its just like. yikes. #and then you have books like dracula and cosmic horror stuff by lovecraft and both the book and that author in speciifc feed into horror as #a genre of hatred where the 'unknown' is whats to be feard and the fear of the unknown too quickly leads into the fear of queerness or #different cultures or races #into bigotry #like i know dracula is big but as someone who read the book and wrote an essay on it. it is so important to acknowledge the copious amounts #of bigotry and misogyny and hatred that stoker wrote into that novel #ITS JUST god i love horror so much but there are just. some films that will never appeal to me cuz i just cant get over the hurdles of #intense hatred #like i could watch all of Halloween because of the amount of ableism like #also to be clear: it was a blind watch my parents are both pastors lol they werent sitting me down to watch slashers in my infancy and ive #only recently started going through and watching a lot of the 'classic' horror films #its fun! ive been having fun most have dated moments but god the first halloween film was rough #still wondering how that kid from middle school who's parents hated gay people and were like conservative catholics were chill with their #like 12 year old son watching a bunch of horror movies #n i couldnt even get my hands on one if i wanted to

Something that gives you gender euphoria (whether you're cis or trans): depends on whether i’m in a masculine mood or a feminine mood but for masc i have a sports bra that can act as a binder and if i wear that with an oversized tshirt and my designated ‘masc jeans’ i can look so androgynous imo. for femme i have my favourite dress <3

How has your identity changed over time? back when i was 14 i started to question my gender and i was sort of switching between bigender and using she/he and pangender and using she/they/he but one of my friends (who identified as nonbinary at the time!!!) was super bitchy about it – like she’d ask me my pronouns every single time she talked about me but she’d do it in a passive-aggressive ‘ugh what gender are you this time’ way, and it was very discouraging so i stopped questioning and just went with she/they/he even tho it didn’t feel right, and then eventually thought it was all internalised misogyny and went back to she/her. so it wasn’t until recently that i figured out my gender identity and i’m still pissed at that girl about it and she’s still passive-aggressive about my gender identity and uses they/them pronouns for me even tho i use she/he.

#she acted like bcs i’d changed my gender identity so many times it was somehow not valid #as if she hadn’t gone from cis to genderfluid to nonbinary to nonbinary but using she/her #and she does the same w my sexuality btw #she still has to ask me in every convo we have what my sexuality is even tho i’ve been out as bi for three fucking years #doesn’t respect my grey-asexuality even tho i helped her work through her sexuality and whether she was aro or not #and she would never have figured out her sexuality were it not for me being friends with her #sorry this has just turned into a rant about this one friend #BUT SHE REALLY ANNOYS ME AND THIS ISN’T EVEN EVERYTHING #AUGHH #pip squeaks

I just saw the worst, least-understanding-of-the-plot,-characters,-and-themes post about a classic movie I love and I can't let go of the bafflement it made me feel. I'm hoping ranting about it will be cathartic enough to lower my blood pressure.

#GOD. How do you misinterpret a movie like that and sum it up so fucking poorly? Reducing the main character's main struggle and conflict and #even their characterization and making literally the most surface-level 'never-seen-the-movie-but-I-have-opinions-anyways' take. AUGHH #you can't tell me that THAT was what the movie was about. That was yes. an important part of the movie but they've misinterpreted WHY it #happened so damn badly that I'd be surprised if they even saw the movie outside of 20 minute parodies. #Even then you'd be completely lacking understanding of the PARODIES. #You don't understand the characters. you don't understand the plot or themes. you don't understand the significance of a MAJOR plot point- #or what it and it's wrapping up meant for the MC.
