I’m going to try to make 2020 the year where I return to my creative pursuits, including writing. So, here’s my first contribution to @dadrunkwriting in a long time; I apologize for the brevity.

Sulahn woke to warm sunlight upon her face, strong arms around her waist, and a dry mouth. She grimaced, brow furrowing and nose scrunching as she parted her lips and stuck her tongue out, thoroughly uncomfortable with the fuzzy feeling in her mouth. She normally cleaned her teeth before she fell asleep, no matter how tired she was. As she tried to slip out of bed, the arms around her waist tightened.

“Nooo,” Krem mumbled sleepily.

She huffed but stilled all the same. “It’s morning,” she reminded, her tone equal parts amusement and exasperation.

“Lies. It’s too early for that.”

“Well, unfortunately for you, the sun says otherwise,” she quipped. “And as I’m not a mage, I can’t turn back the sun to suit your needs, either.”

Krem groaned and buried his face into the crook of her shoulder. “At least five more minutes, then,” he murmured, still sounding halfway between sleep and wakefulness.

“You know I normally would, but I need to clean my teeth. I forgot to do it last night.”

At that, Krem lifted his head slightly and met her gaze. “What’s wrong with a little bit of morning breath?”

Sulahn wrinkled her nose a bit. “Surely you know me better than that?”

He chuckled faintly and nodded before adding, “But I don’t mind in the slightest.” Krem leaned in to press a soft kiss to her lips. “Especially because you are more than allowed to just be ‘Sulahn’ inside this room.”

“So, my cleanliness is part of the mask of ‘Inquisitor?’”

He rolled his eyes and lightly shoved her shoulder. “Yeah, I guess that came out wrong, but you also know that’s not what I meant. I’m just saying that you’re allowed to relax around me, okay?”

She gave him a soft smile and reached out to tuck a strand of hair behind his ear. “Yeah, I know that…”

Krem nodded and pulled Sulahn against him once more, burying his face into her hair. “Now, five more minutes.”

“You are not a morning person, are you?” she asked with a snort.

“Nope.”

“Fine, then. Five more minutes,” she relented and closed her eyes as she listened to his heartbeat.

I sighed long and hard, shaking my head as I muttered, “This is going to sound so stupid. I… ah…” I paused and sucked in a breath to steady myself. “Can I…” Oh, God, this is so idiotic. “Can I have a hug?” I finally managed to choke out, before tacking on a tiny “Please?” I could practically feel the bewildered blinking that I knew resulted but couldn’t bring myself to look at. “That’s… all?” I nodded once, my hands gripping the cold stone of the merlon in front of me like a lifeline. Cullen shifted sideways. “After all you put up with from me, all you ask for in return is a hug? One hug?” I nodded again, practically cringing at the way he was putting it. When he said it like that, I really did sound stupid. This… was not turning out well. He inhaled slowly, and his reply was measured as he fully turned to face me. “Well, that… simply won’t do. Not at all. What you ask for is in no way fair. I must insist on a change to the terms if this is to work.” “Um…” I finally managed to glance up at him, deeply afraid I had crossed a line. “Okay?” He folded his arms atop his chest, and I had to forcibly restrain my eyes from glancing downwards at the subsequent ripple of muscle that was visible even underneath his shirt. “I propose to increase the number from one to unlimited. Yours for the requesting. Anytime. No questions asked.” That killer smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth. “Is that an acceptable alteration?” My eyes were hot with emotion, and I bit my lip hard to keep the tears from spilling over my lashes, smacking the merlon with the palm of my hand as I shook my head in disbelief. “Cullen Rutherford, I swear to the Maker above, you’re the sweetest man alive.” And I meant every single word. “Come here.” I didn’t need to be told twice. I wordlessly rushed into his open, waiting arms, throwing my own around his torso as he fully embraced me.

Hello to you too! It's a future scene where all our heroines meet. I can't say much without spoilering, but suffice it to say that The Stormcrown Prophecy differs from the main storyline of the Skyrim game, and trouble is rising in Morrowind. Unfortunately, it will be a while until I get to that part, especially since the stories are currently on hiatus due to me having a job. I'm also focused on writing Alva's origin story (a comic titled The Mask and the Crown), which I hope to get published one day.

I'm always happy to have new readers, but sadly I can't promise any more content right now. Thank you so much for the ask, though, and I hope you have a lovely day!

A comfortable silence surrounds them, interrupted only by the crackling of the fire and the occasional turning of pages. Nis sits curled in Krem’s lap, her small form tucked comfortably against his chest, her head under his chin, her lips moving soundlessly as she reads.

Her body keeps Krem’s warm as he reads too. He’s a chapter ahead of her in Varric’s latest serial, and every time she gasps or giggles he has to pause in his reading to see where she is in hers.

He balances his book in one hand and uses the other to card through her curls. She smiles and makes a noise low in her throat almost like a purr, just like he knew she would.

It makes him smile. 

He turns the page to keep reading.
